I already mentioned Marci in EA in a separate ask, but I also quite enjoyed Mike's dramatics in Where Credit Was Due!

20 Which work of yours have you reread the most?

I'm going to guess Where Credit Was Due because for a while there it kept coming up on my audiobook player app whenever I'd finished something else and I'd just let it run lol.

29 Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

I like this bit from Epistaxis Anime! But knowing this and feeling this were two different things. And right now, Matt couldn’t tell where his physical form ended and his feelings began. He felt like he was spilling over. Like one of his nosebleeds had gotten out of hand and no matter how hard he tried to staunch the flow, the blood just kept coming, liter after liter. There was a relentless ache in his throat, an expanding hollowness in his chest. An all-encompassing need to—if not be loved—at least be seen.

19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?

I would actually love to explore MattElektra next year, but in the way where it’s exploring their dynamics both during college and s2. Granted it’s all gonna be within AUs where MattFoggy is already a thingor will be the endgame but even in the AUs it’ll stick to more or less the same routes (which is either a disappointing or, in one case so far, bitter end.)

(This is also a note for me to maybe eventually write a fic where Elektra gets her own happy ending and carves out her own path cause she does deserve it.)

27. What do you listen to while writing?

Most of the time it is game play videos 😂 Very rarely I listen to actual music when writing.

28. Favorite work you wrote this year?

It’s tied between Love You No Matter What and You’re A Hot Mess (And I’m Falling For You). There’s something about demon Matt that scratches the brain for the former, and for the latter there’s something about letting Foggy go through it with the “oh no my best friend is hot” feelings 😂 I mean Foggy is also going through the “oh no my best friend/boyfriend is a demon and still hot” in the former. I think I just like Foggy suffering in the best way possible.

A lil Daredevil fic rec for you all!

A bedeviled Matt, in need of a voice of reason, makes a late night visit.

It's short and sweet and I love the idea that this is the one thing that he is scared of - because how can anyone know they want to be with him when he has no idea what tomorrow will bring? The relationship between Matt and Foggy is captured perfectly - comforting Foggy is always one of my favourite things 🥺 Matt's the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, but this shaggy-haired lawyer soothes him so easily 😭♥️

Writing Reflection

After getting into writing last year I went mildly to totally insane this year. I wrote more than I even thought possible, already upped my writing goal in January after writing like 30k on WIPs alone in two weeks, only to then end up hitting my yearly writing goal in September anyway.

I got into Podfic this year and it has brought me a lot of joy to work on recording and editing, as well as to participate in even more challenges and exchanges than I did last year.

Once again, I met a lot of lovely people and had a great time writing and simply enjoying fandom with people I like to consider friends by now.

There were many ups and downs, but I'm glad to say that, over all, this year was a good one for me.

I hope you had a good year as well and wish everyone a good start into the New Year. 💜

Soaring off the rooftop again, he headed to Foggy's.

Sometimes angels simply fall and Hell doesn't save them in time.

II - Of Wings And Feathers

"Matt? You all good in there? You gotta stop coming in early without telling me."

III - An Exercise in Grief

Some days he doesn't know what to do with the heavy weight that settles behind his eyes, that wraps around his chest.

So very alone in his grief.

IV - A Song of a Pigeon and a Dove

Frank thinks that the other creature in the cell with him is human. Or, at least it was, once upon a time.

He trills, a sound of pure joy, the closest thing to a song the both of them are capable of producing, and Frank echoes it back to them as they twist through the slipstreams.

V - Day 31: "I'm alive, I'm just not well."

There were 24 hours in a day.  You lost 6 or so of those to sleep. 

“No drama, Cyrus got some good crab time, and this place is *full* of rats.” 

VI - Day 30: Holding Back Tears

Kehaar was ill. 

(He doesn’t know they love him too much to leave him lost. Even Willabuck, who is incapable of love, but regardless is helping to hunt him down.)

VII - Day 29: Labyrinth

He wasn’t really sure where he was.

He knows that to leave he will have to go through there again, unless there is some other way to escape this labyrinth of books. 

VIII - Day 28: Communication Barrier

There were sticky notes scattered across the walls. Messages left by passing ships, people who struggled to be in the same place at the same time.

What a blessed part of life. To find friends, to find people who you can see as family, and to create a story together. 

IX - Day 27: Laboratory

This wasn’t what they’d signed up for. When they’d heard research, of learning more about how the human body worked, this wasn’t the experiments they’d imagined.

When they were finally released, the scar never properly healed. An angry incision across their chest, and some days they questioned if the answers the research had given had truly been worth the suffering. Worth the physical and mental torment. 

X - Day 26: Parting Words of Regret

This castle was filled with too many horrors, and it seemed they were only fated to leave one room, one monster, and find themselves face to face with another.

When Moss pushes open the door, his clothes covered in dirt and grass, and looking shaken, it is all Willabuck can do to convince himself this is not a ghost.

Got tagged for an interesting writing meme by @mutuallyprime. Then life happened and I didn't get around to this before also being tagged by @virusq and @feralkwe. But better late than never!

(I found this in my drafts and I never did post it. So it's also out of date. But....!)

All my recent stuff has been 40k. Since I have 16 stories currently for 40k (holy crap!), I decided to put one from each of them. Consider this "bonus" for being tagged more than once.

This is in order from newest to oldest.

The Gift of the Rope: Sanguinius is used to the motions, to the ritual of preparing for a night of hedonistic pleasure.

The Delay: It had been three weeks since Amit's discovery of The Alabaster Feather, volume 68.

Vibe Check: "I'm telling you, this works for me every time," Thorongil said, taking a sip of his mead.

A Clean Slate: There was a distant part of Sanguinius' mind that wondered how he got here: a room with two simple chairs sized for primarchs, and little else.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words: Sotha hadn’t agreed with the Lion and Guilliman equally.

Point of Pride: The captains' training cages were empty this time of day.

Making A Believer: The bells rang, loud and echoing, across the quarry.

A Question, A Wager: "You are aware that soap exists, correct?" Tarvitz asked Garro as he reloaded his bolter, and ducked behind the broken-down brick wall for cover.

A Lost Epistle, An Ardent Promise: It had been 6 months, 19 days, and 3 hours since he had seen Sanguinius in person.

Vitium: "Lion," Roboute said, not looking up from the data-slate he was reading as Lion approached his desk, "you have impeccable timing."

The Great Lunar Heist of [REDACTED]: Data salvaged from Horus Lupercal’s personal [REDACTED]

Macraggian Hospitality: The summer evening was cool - a signal that the end of the season was soon upon them.

Shared Compliance: There wasn’t any legitimate reason for Azkaellon to be at the Tertiary Annotata Locus at this time in the evening.

The Backup Plan: It had been a week since Grulgor had been killed, and the Eisenstein had dropped out of the Warp.

Legion Business: Precious few knew about the secret of the Blood Angels.

Cantilever: The iridescent sky of Sortiarius was truly an impossible sight.

Things Learned:

Surprised to see that out of 16 works, Sanguinius only appears in 8 of them. ...well, technically he hasn't shown up yet in Shared Compliance but he is very much in the drafts of chapters I've written but haven't posted yet.

✿ did anything major change when you started writing "All According to Keikaku" to when you finished?

Okay, so the biggest thing that changed is that it was never supposed to be a fic at all 😂 The idea was spawned because I had bamf for a Secret Satan giftee and because we talk all the time I had to divert her attention and make her think I was, if it couldn't be ruled out that I wasn't writing for her, at least writing an entirely different premise so she'd still be surprised. The fic I actually did gift her was A Murder of Crows. But she liked the All According to Keikaku idea so much that when the Murderdock zine was in its planning stages she pushed me into making it a reality. As far as smaller changes, I briefly considered having Otomo and Foggy not actually be fake dating but having him protecting Foggy from something and Matt misinterpreting it, but then I figured that would be less fun. Otherwise it didn't change very much once it all started coming together!

I've been asked this question about this fic a few times now and I've given a few different answers 😂 (I'm glad people like it; I poured my heart and soul into writing it lol) This one is still one of my favorites: Yet there was something to be said for mucking up a clean canvas if you were the dirt. But looking over it again right now I'm actually really proud of the dialogue in a lot of places too, like for instance here: “It’s one thing to say no, even if the way you went about it was a little bit rude, if I’m being honest here,” Foggy continued with vitriol. “Your best friend says he likes you. It’s surprising. I get it. But it’s another thing entirely to say I’m not allowed to like you. Because what? Being bisexual is gross?”

✄ what’s your editing process? for podfics

It's pretty simple honestly because I don't have much in the ways of skills here. I record (using Audacity and my laptop mic) the whole fic or chapter in one long take. (This includes lots of mistakes and repeated lines). Then afterward I go in and first cut out all the mistakes (the longest part of the editing process). After that's done I do noise filtering and slow down the audio just a bit because I read a little too fast. I give it a listen to make sure everything is there and there isn't any lingering weirdness, then I export assuming everything is there. If I have to rerecord and insert something I do that, but I've started to try and make sure I get this step done before the noise filtering to make the audio quality more even.

How I feel about this character: Karen my beloved, always going through the horrors just as much but she knows how to handle herself

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Frank a tiny bit, she and Matt were cute even after everything hit the fan, would’ve liked to see Foggy and Karen cause they were also cute if only briefly teased

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Foggy. Partners in crime. Well law.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t think I have any unless you wanna absolutely count whatever the hell the writing was for her in The Defenders.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: would’ve loved to see her take on her new role in the newly christened Nelson, Murdock and Page had the show continued on

It's cute, Elektra thinks, how honest Yelena is.

Spontaneity doesn't require an effort, for her. She’s spent all her life being forced to be a puppet, but now she can express herself so she just does.

Elektra still wonders who she is, sometimes. The most important relationships of her life were based on lies: Stick lied to her, she lied to Matthew.

She no longer has to lie or hide who she is, worried no one will accept her that way.

Yelena is much the same, and with her Elektra can be honest, too.

What my heart desires First: They said she learned to ride before she could walk. Last: Fréaláf would always have her sword, but no single man would ever have her heart.

Every Sunday Forever (If That's What It Takes) (collab) First: Everyone hated Mondays. Last: When neither Matt nor Foggy tried to say anything, Karen continued with a concluding, "That's what I thought: I win weirdest weekend," to which there was no rebuttal.

Give the Butcher his music! First: Matt didn’t consider himself a particularly skilled pianist. Last: He was Matt Murdock and he was the favorite pianist of Hell’s Kitchen’s Mafia Boss.

Smile and hide the longing for a place to call home First: For Karen, the first months working at Nelson and Murdock went by fast. Last: She didn’t have to flee anymore.

With our backs turned against each other First: Foggy had always known that he would take over the family business. Last: Matt leaned into the embrace.

Snowy days First: Matt was 14 years old and he hated snow. Last: Wasn’t that a nice imagery.

I want to be in tune with you First: “I’ve always wanted a piano”, Foggy had blurted when he helped aunt Gloria and uncle Dave move. Last: “Usually. But I’ll make an exception for you.”

That was fun. I haven't looked at my first vs. last lines before to see how they compare. It would be fun to play more with that in some fic in the future.

12. The first fandom I wrote for was technically the Seeker: Dark Is Rising movie adaptation (I did not know what fanfic was at the time, this was my actual baby era), but the first fandom I posted in was The Mandalorian :)

22. I don't think I've ever celebrated finishing a fic (maybe it's time to start <: ). I might've had a cocktail when I finished These Infested Waters 😅

23. I think most of all I'd like to write more Autistic!character or Mute!character fics. They're tags I find really interesting takes and representation in.

A few times, I've really wanted to write 'missing scenes' or small fics based on or in response to another person's fic. I'd love to have a go writing the final chapters of Fear (dd) or a spinoff chapter of another work I love.

I'm skipping Podfics for this. Also a fair warning, I did Whumpcember, so all of these will be more or less Whumpy.

I - You and me (and the voices in my head)

First: Can’t I have quiet for five fucking seconds? I tried to calm my mind, doing my best to keep my breathing steady, even as I was getting more and more overstimulated by the second. I had to focus on something else, do something else, but there wasn’t anything that would help. There was just me and Clint and the noise inside my own mind. Just let me deal with life first.

Last: “Will do.” Clint smiled, brushing another kiss on my head. “Go, take that shower, and then curl up in bed, if you like. I’ll deal with dinner and come find you when it’s done.”

II - Arrow End

First: “I thought we said we wanted to stop meeting like this...” I signed, trying to keep my expression casual, even at the sight of my partner in yet another hospital bed after yet another mission gone horribly wrong.

Last: Now, he could finally focus his energy on building a new life for himself.

III - The Difference between Alone and Lonely

First: Clint was sitting at Natasha’s grave. He was sitting on the cold, black dirt and leaning against the headstone.

Last: “I’m sorry.” The Archer sighed again. “But I just can’t get up.”

IV - Brothers (WIP)

First: Matt was sitting at Fogwell’s, leaning over one of the Braille books he had gotten for school and trying to remember what all the different letters felt like when there was a timid knock at the front door. The public classes and training sessions for the day had already ended about 30 minutes earlier and quiet was starting to fall over the gym as only a few fighters were still there to get a few training rounds of their own in.

Last: A Murdock never backed down from a fight.

V - A Kitten in Winter

First: It was winter in the city.

Last: I was so tired.

VI - Sleep is(n't) for the weak

First: “Bubba..." I sighed, wheeling up to the bed where Bucky was curled around my balled-up fluffy blanket, staring blankly at his phone. “Hey, sweetie, it’s the middle of the night.”

Last: “Yeah.” Bucky brushed another kiss on my head. “I’m glad I got you back.”

VII - Fighter

First: Matt was used to pain.

Last: “Matty, I don’t think Daredevil will fight again.”

VIII - Even at your lowest point 

First: “Bucky?” Clint was standing at the door to the small apartment somewhere in Brooklyn, where Bucky had been living since he was back. “It’s me. It’s Clint.” He knocked, leaning his head against the wooden door. “Please let me in, I’m worried about you.”

Last: “Yeah...” Clint nodded. “Maybe we can do that.”

IX - As Long as I got You Back (WIP)

First: “Bucky!” Clint called, pushing past the young nurse as soon as he had finished talking.

Last: “You’re my little star,” Clint whispered, brushing a soft kiss into Bucky’s hair. “And I’ll do everything I can to make it okay again.”

First: “Clint, what the fuck happened to you?” Phil froze, as soon as he pulled the blanket back and revealed Clint’s bare body.
