I don't know if I mentioned before but figuring out the pacing on this has been roughhhhh, I haven't seen the finale yet because I want to hear Levi's voice only in dub, so I'm debating just watching it in sub for the sake of the story or to wait until dub and get the best experience with the end of the show. Erwin and Hange stare at Evelyn. a mixture of shock and disgust coming over their features.

"Hange, Erwin." She says flatly in greeting.

"How could you Evelyn- You're with them?" Hange grits her teeth but clearly is on the edge of tears.

She stays silent, in truth, she had nothing to say. A small part of her felt bad for helping cause all of this, but she justified it since they turned their backs on her first.

"Well? Aren't you going to give some pathetic excuse to defend yourself of all these disgusting actions?" Erwin was no where near as moved as Hange was, he was clearly upset he had been caught and the person he fucked over was roaming free.

"I could say the same for you Commander. What's the matter? Upset your sins have caught up to you? Does it not haunt you at night that you left a unsuspecting woman to the cruelty of a monster? You knew what Levi was like, you fucking knew it and then you covered up for him. Do you feel no remorse for that?"

Erwin stares her down coldly, he and Levi were a lot alike, they both despised having their faults be pointed out by anyone. They both believed that they were perfection incarnate and everyone else was lesser than to be stepped on as needed.

Hange speaks instead. "Evelyn please, I know you went through some shit so your brain isn't all there, but that isn't excuse for all of this. You've deluded yourself so far thinking that Levi is this evil monster in your head but he's not, remember how he was?"

"Oh please Hange, don't be so naive to believe whatever Levi shovels into your mouth. He's always been this way, you've just bought into it like I did. He's a monster. The scum of the earth, just like Commander Erwin here. Isn't that right?"

Erwin's jaw is clenched in anger. "All you'll ever be is scum from the Underground who thought she was somebody because Levi had a crush."

She reaches out and slaps him hard across the face, pent up anger at him, at Levi, at this whole system where reputation and money was what bought you belief, all of it coming out at once. She hadn't had a place for all of this built up rage, and it felt good to get it out. Maybe she even understood where Levi was coming from a bit.

"Feel better now?" He continued. "The only reason you got to where you are is because Levi wanted to sleep with you. He saved you from certain death many times, sure you have some skill, but without him on your back you would have been just another "fallen hero" everyone would forget about. The amount of men that have died because he chose to save you over them is what made me turn a blind eye to this make believe victimhood you've placed yourself in."

"You're saying I'm just playing the victim? For what? What could I possibly hope to gain?" Tears threatened to spill over onto her cheeks.

"Who knows? And excuse for divorce so you can take half of what he has? Maybe you thought you wanted something but the pressures of marriage are too much for you so you're running away. All you do is run away."

Indignation flared inside her, she could tell by his expression he was just putting on a speech and show so that Hange and those around would buy into the lie Levi sold that she had just made herself an imaginary victim. He knew the truth, Levi knew the truth, they both just had a name to throw behind a claim that everyone believed.

"I hate you." She spits out, the tears spilling over.

"Please don't cry, I hate to see women cry."

She wanted to see him dead, she wished that the previous king, no matter how fake, had hung this son of a bitch from the highest point so that everyone could see his rotting body. But that would come, eventually, she had promised Eren she'd be patient and follow his lead when it came to vengeance. He would take care of it for her, she just had to follow along where needed, then everything would be okay.

"Get these two out of here, make sure they're ready to leave."

"Leave? Where are we going?" Hange tried to keep the small twinge of fear out of her voice.

Evelyn took a deep breath and composed herself, subtly wiping away those aggravating tears. "If everything went well, Levi should be nothing more than a rotting corpse by now."

Both of their eyes went wide, slightly stunned.

"That's right. Eren, Zeke, they set a trap for him. Now we're going to make sure he's dead, I would have stayed with him but I wanted to make sure we all got to see the carnage together. You don't mind coming do you?"

They say nothing, following as they're dragged along.

The search for the remains of Levi was extensive and long, each moment increasing Evelyn's anxiety. What if Zeke's plan didn't work? What if Levi was waiting for her, ready to pounce the moment she showed her face? There was no possible way that he could have survived all of that, but this was Levi, he was a demon, no matter what was thrown his way he always survived.

This would be different. He was dead, she was safe, her fear would dissipate when she saw his body for herself. She would truly be free once she knew, gone from his oppression and free to do everything she wanted.

Their group returned to the forest, why Evelyn had left in the first place was to distance herself from the carnage. Guilt still ate at her, she had needed to put some kind of barrier between them so she felt better. Confirmation of his death would make the guilt leave completely, she was sure.

A trail of wreckage dragged through the entire forest, slaughtered Titans were nothing but bones now, vaporizing with a cloud of steam.

No trace of Levi could be found, the stirring fears making her palms sweaty and her heart beat out of her chest. Even though Hange and Erwin seemed just as worried as she, Evelyn could bet that they were worried for a much different reason.

"Over there!" Someone shouted.

The group followed the direction the soldier was pointing, finding the charred boards that looked like it belonged to a small cart.

Zeke was no where to be found, Levi was no where to be found, it was empty.

"Where could he have gone?" Floch asked, slightly annoyed because he was still in the rain.

"The riverbank, look-!"

Evelyn was first, pushing past everyone else. She had to know what had become of her husband.

Erwin and Hange were close behind, hoping beyond hope that their friend was still alive.

His body was burned, shards of blade sticking out from his body and face. His fingers were gone, he was utterly still.

The other two were just as frozen as she, unable to believe what they were seeing. To them, their beloved comrade was gone.

To Evelyn, she was free.

Short summary: her answer to violence is "yes and no"; Kyana's fears are kind of existential; local mage does not want to be perceived in any way possible.

👊 PUNCH - are they quick to violence?

She's violent, but I wouldn't say she's quick to violence. She does need it to be justified, at least in her own eyes, so if something can be settled through persuasion/intimidation, she'll do that. She'll also go through a character's entire dialogue tree, squeezing out every possible bit of information, even though she'd made up her mind about fighting them about five minutes ago. There have been several points in the game so far where she'd pretend to consider someone's offer even though she knows she's going to fight them, just so she can have the full picture and further proof that she was right in killing them.

I think she got a lot less trigger-happy after Redcliffe, because between Jowan and Connor and Zevran, it's gotten a lot harder for her to dehumanize whoever's on the other side of her staff. (she spared all of them btw, and then one more blood mage in the Tower)

🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

I think her biggest fear kind of came true already. Before DAO, all of her fears could be traced back to the fear of losing her comfortable life in the Circle (she had it a lot better than most other mages), and not only did she lose it, it was destroyed. It was not just taken from her, it was metaphorically thrown on the ground and stomped to bits. There's literally no part of her Circle life that survived the events of DAO unaltered, including herself. That leaves her in a weird position where the worst thing she could possibly think of already happened to her, and after Broken Circle her entire character arc is basically "what now?". I guess you could says she's kind of afraid of the future, because she just... doesn't know how she's going to go about things once the Blight is over. (it does get better; she finds a purpose in her new role as Warden-Commander and starts a relationship with Zevran, and the future becomes promising enough that she's willing to fight the Calling itself to keep it)

On a smaller scale, after being trapped in the Fade by Sloth, she has a fear of falling asleep for a while; she has to take potions that Morrigan makes for her to fall asleep. She also has panic attacks where all of a sudden she feels like maybe she's still in the Fade and everything around her is a part of Sloth's trap. That does go away eventually, but where I'm currently in my playthrough (Sacred Ashes) it's still very much a problem.

Honestly, everything I've talked about so far? Kyana strikes an imposing figure when you're not reading too deep into her intentions, and she really doesn't want anyone to know what she's actually thinking, because on the inside it's just a lot of fear and anger and she's just... making it work, somehow. She also tries to not let people know how little she actually knows about anything that isn't magic, like money or relationships or how to actually use a map. Whenever her ignorance does show, she does her best to cover it up or to insist that she's right even though she's clearly not.

a promise is a promise

so today, in my anger and frustration... i vented at God. It wasn't pretty.

actually it seems like it's happening more and more too, so it's becoming part of who i am, and i don't like it at all.

part of it is that i care a lot about succeeding. and when i care a lot about succeeding, i get angry when i fail. if i don't want to have such a short fuse, then i have to not care, be complacent, basically give up on actually trying. i've been that before, and it also very sad. i wish i could be ambitious, focused, passionate, etc without it coming with a short fuse.

so why the anger with God? well, depending on your theology, there's God's sovereignty and man's free will, effort, and ambition. for me, i believe God is in complete control and predestined all that would take place in the universe we know (and don't yet know of) from the beginning of time until the end.

what that means is that He knows that i would attempt the things that i would attempt and how at certain moments He knew that i would experience little glimmers of hope and a sniff of the sweet success, and he knew that in the next step, the rug would get pulled out from under me, and i would fail, and he knew how i would feel. He knew i would be using my free will, my effort, my problem solving skills, my ambition, my everything that i am capable of to make adjustments and try some way of succeeding. should i try a different approach and game plan? should i pull back? should i be more relaxed? should i be more aggressive? should i just forget about the failure and start over from scratch? should i try to salvage some of what i had done? should i take a break and refresh my mind? should i this or should i that? and He knew it would only take me so far as to just get a sniff of the success but not actually taste it much less grasp it. this is the God, when i think about it like that, makes it seem like he enjoys toying with me. and that's why i vented my anger at Him. (this isn't me saying it's right and that i'm justified btw... it's wrong period. i know there isn't any circumstance where man should be angry with God.)

and in the midst of the anger, i shouted in my mind, "you know what? i'm going to start a special diary. i used to count my blessings. but now, i'm going to count all the times you turned my dreams and goals to @#$%! and i'll start with this one today!"

well, as it turns out... i did actually succeed after that... not like immediately like some sudden miracle, but after some more effort, persistence, problem-solving, and endurance... it worked out. but the ability to revel in the moment and feel great wasn't as grand as i would expect. it felt very hollow. it was like those times you win but you don't feel like you deserved it because you felt lucky- like you got away with something and it wasn't really because of your efforts. on the flip side if it did turn out that i ended my day in failure- it would just validate my feeling that God just isn't for me in this task. but in the end He actually was.

so here i am, taking a record of this. it turns out, i'm still counting my blessings because it worked out. at the same time, i'm reminded of my sinful nature despite being victorious. i guess God got the last laugh as anyone should expect.

Being hated wasn’t anything new. Sukuna had gone through more than a thousand years of people cursing his name, adding to what he already was, what he made himself to be. It was a mutual feeling, if he was honest. How could he love something that hates him? Curses him for his very existence? It was not his fault they barely made him give them a single glance. Not his fault they weren’t the least bit interesting. They did not deserve his love. The fact they deserved his hatred was already more than enough.

But you - you were a being loved by Heaven and Earth, but not at all.

“Who goes there? Show yourself,” Sukuna was a fool, and he knew that, too. Your words are harsh as a whip, and yet he asks to hear more of your voice. It’s been too long. It didn’t matter if they hurt, and he was not welcome - he was a greedy fool, and he’ll take what was given. He came to your innate domain, knowing how you would lash out.

He calls out your name in a whisper, like a secret shared between you both. “You’re back,” his words are soft. Should he have spoken more harshly, more forcefully, if only to justify your anger he could feel from so far away? But he couldn’t do that to you. 

You were loved by the Honored One, and Heaven and Earth punished you for taking what was theirs.

“Back? Back?” the laugh that slips past your lips echoes in the room, echoes in his ears. “I know that, but I don’t want to hear it from you. You’re the last person I want to hear that from.”

Yes, you would have hated hearing that from him. After all, it was his fault. All his fault. He was used to that, too, people’s problems being his fault. Fault. Fault made it seem like it was an accident, however, an unfortunate and unforeseen effect. But nothing about this was an accident, compared to all the sins that piled high over his shoulders.

“Sukuna, don’t do this, please-”

“You promised you’d love me,” Sukuna gripped at your arms, hoping maybe he’d hold on to your very soul, too. “You promised.”

“I know, but this is-”

“You promised me,” he repeats, and he hopes the words are as real to you as they are to him. “You may have forgotten, but I haven’t”

“Sukuna, please don’t curse me,” you cry, and when you try to break free from his grasps, he hates it more than you can ever know. You were slipping away faster by the second. “Please, I don't want to be cursed by you. Not you, please.”

“Better me than anyone else.”

He was a greedy and selfish fool. And you were the most selfish and greediest of his wishes. Because he knew he couldn’t have you. Not completely.

“I just wanted to know if you were alright,” Liar. Lies. They come naturally to him, but they don’t taste all the less bitter. When he says you’re back, he hopes you’ll come back to him this time, too.

“Don’t talk to me, I don’t want to hear from you,” the words are venom, going past his skin and his blood and going so far as to cling to his soul. “Don’t even look at me.”

But how couldn’t he? Everything in this world was vile, and ugly. And you were everything they were not. Maybe that was why he hated the rest of the world: because they were not you, and they never could be. They couldn’t even hate him the way you did. 

He says your name again, more desperate than he’s ever been his whole life, and death, and rebirth. “Please, I-”

“I’m going to help them.” 

Was it those thousand years that made you cold? Or was it being in his arms that could never warm you? “What do you mean?”

You’re clearer than he’s ever seen you at this moment. You’re glaring at him, hugging yourself, as if you knew that if given the chance, he’d try to hold you again. The uniform of a Jujutsu Sorcerer does not suit you in the least bit, and no matter how much he hated it, he couldn’t look away. 

“I’m going to help them kill you,” you say softly, the glare eases from your eyes, but the hatred does not. “And then I’m finally going to die, too.”

Being hated was nothing new. It was a welcome feeling at times. He reveled in the anger coursing through the blood of another. Their eyes bloodshot, tunnel visioned, only seeing him and his wrongdoings.

But don’t look at him like that. The world could hate him for all he was, and all he had become. But having you be everything he had ever known, everything he had ever wanted, everything he had clung to in mortality, immortality and beyond-

Please don’t look at him like that.

Flashback

“You can’t do anything right! Look at this!” Y/N’s foster dad yelled as he pointed to a single dirt spot on the floor he had made when coming into the house.

“But-“ she tried to cut in and defend herself but she got a glare that would shut anyone up.

“No buts! How are you to expect and man to love you if you keep having screw ups like this? Huh?! Answer me.”

“I clean it right away.” She said while struggling to hold her tears back.

“You better.” He growled out before leaving her in the living room with a bucket and mop.

Flashback Over

“Y/N!” She heard from behind her and she sighed quietly to herself when she recognized the voice of the boy who had been asking her out for months.

She was debating on running away, or staying where she was and would have to reject him again which resulted in jealous girls bullying her.

She chose the first option. Y/N ran down the sidewalk and quickly ran towards the direction to her home, she began to make it to an alley when she was lightly grabbed from behind and brought into the alley.

Y/N gasped in surprised and struggled against the wall she was being held to.

“Y/N! It’s okay It’s just me” Jason says as he held her against the wall but loosened his grip as she stopped struggling.

“Jason, why would you do that?” She spoke angrily as her heart was racing, it was Gotham who knows what could happen.

“I’m sorry, but you started running and then I tried catching up to you and then I panicked and yeah…” he explained looking somewhat guilty but it quickly disappeared.

“I wouldn’t have had to push her into the alley if she hadn’t ran.” He said inside his head, attempting to justify scaring her, but he looked down at the girl who was slightly glaring up at him with an adorable pout and was completely distracted.

“Y/N”

“No.”

“Will you.”

“I’m sorry no.” She spoke as she felt slightly bad for saying no so harshly but why would he keep asking out her? There were so many other, better girls.

“Go out on a…” Jason continued he knew she’d eventually say yes, but until she did he would continue asking her and attempt to make her fall for his charm. Of course he knew it wasn’t necessarily required for her to be completely in love with him before he decided to take the next step like the other Bats. Grayson had his “soulmate” as the bats called them, his fell in love with him as well so they were able to be a normal couple, other than Graysons possessive tendencies. Drake took his before they could fall in love, which resulted in many problems. Damian was still looking.

Y/N didn’t say no after him continuing on with his request so he quickly finished it and lightly grabbed her hand and held it to his lips.

“Date with me.” He spoke then kissed her hand while looking deeply into her eyes. Y/N just about melted on the spot as he lowered her hand but still held it in his.

All she could here was the shouts of her foster father who had told her day after day that no man would after date her, let alone love her. She just couldn’t understand why someone like Jason, the man everyone wanted and the son of a billionaire would want her. The girl who couldn’t do anything right.

She saw his eyes that looked like they were begging her to say yes and she was so close to saying yes before she said what was truly on her mind.

“Why would you want to date me of all people? You deserve someone you can help you and be there for you, and I- I can’t do anything right.” She repeated the words she heard so often as they were absorbed into her brain, playing like a broken record.

Jason looked at her in shock. Why wouldn’t he want to date her? He had been searching for his soulmate ever since he was 14. The day he first saw her, he knew she was perfect for him. He saw the tears that built into her eyes and he grew angry, why didn’t she believe him? Is that why she always rejected him, not because she didn’t like him in some way, but because she didn’t believe she was good enough for him? He wanted to reassure her that she was amazing, perfect even; but before he could she was running away leaving a stunned Jason behind. While he was thinking to himself, she saw his anger building and that was what lead her to running.

He turned to go after her but then he thought of a plan.

Jason went back to the manor and logged into the Bat computer and clicked on the secret file he had been making for y/n ever since he met her. It was filled with documents and pictures, even her birth certificate and her address. He was waiting until they would actually start dating to go see her house but he figured no time was better than the present and he was getting rather impatient.

He put on this red hood uniform and went to her house. Luckily her backyard had plenty of trees to hide in. Jason looked around the top floor of the house first but when he didn’t see his soulmate he checked the bottom, and luckily he did because there was yelling coming from the kitchen.

He crouched down in front of the window that was by the kitchen sink and looked into the room to see Y/N and her foster dad.

“What is this? I said I wanted filet! Not some lousy steak! Have you learned nothing?! If you can’t even do this simple task for me after I’ve spent a long day at work just to take care of you, you ungrateful child! No wonder your other parents left, I wouldn’t want you either if you didn’t get me money from the state!How are you ever going to find some unlucky man to love you?” Her father yelled and she stood in front of him slightly shaking in fear. Jason’s fists clenched and ached to grab his gun and kill the man right then and there. But, he couldn’t do that to Y/N, he wouldn’t do anything that risked hurting her.

Her foster dad finally stopped yelling at her and he sat down and ate the food she prepared. She wasn’t allowed to eat whatever food he bought for her to make. Y/N walked back up to her room with a small bowl of cereal, which was one of the only things she could eat at the house because she bought it herself.

Jason went back home and thought over what happened. No wonder she always ran away or didn’t believe him when he asked her out, not with those words drilled into her head. He knew that he needed to act fast, Jason wanted to make her feel loved.

The Next Day

Y/N walked down the halls at school like usual until she was unexpectedly pulled into a empty classroom.

She turned around to see Jason standing there with a large bouquet of her favorite flowers.

“Y/N, Will you please go out on a date with me?”

She looked into his eyes and once again saw them silently begging her to accept, and she truly did what to… but she was scared.

“Why?” Y/N couldn’t help but ask once again. To her, she wasn’t anything special, she wasn’t worthy of being in a relationship. How could she possibly say yes when she had so many doubts filling her mind.

Jason’s eyes softened and he told her everything he loved about her, from the ways her eyes shined brightly when she was happy, or the way she would lightly twist her hair when she was nervous; which she was doing as he said that making her eyes widen adorably, he told her how he loved how she tried to help everyone around her. Jason could see her shoulders rising up as if the weight of the words her father had told her were slowing disappearing, and he kept going until she was smiling shyly with slight happy tears in her eyes.

Y/N didn’t believe what she was hearing. Jason, Jason Todd, Son of Multi-Billionaire Bruce Wayne, like her. But she looked into his eyes and saw the sincerity behind them and Jason finally got the answer he wanted.

“Yes. I will go on a date with you.” Jason lightly put the flowers down on the desk then rushed to Y/N and picked her up in a hug and spun them both making her squeal slightly before laughing. Jason could hardly believe it. She finally said yes and he was happy beyond compare.

“I guess I won’t have to go with Todd’s plan.” Jason thought to himself with a smirk as he set her down on the floor and handed her the flowers and she held them to her tightly, appreciating the gesture.

“Better off this way anyway.” Jason smiled at her and she reciprocated it with one just as happy. She didn’t know she was never going to be alone again

That’s how Jason finally won over his soulmate and he was never letting her go.

I expect to see anger, disbelief or even fear reflected in your eyes; I expect to have to justify it to you, to explain myself.

Why Remus was an irresponsible, selfish coward in PoA, and Snape in PoA is completely justified:

Okay, except the “insufferable know it all” part and the threatening a toad part but whatever.

Btw this is gonna be pretty long.

Let’s start off with Remus:

So, he didn’t tell Dumbledore that Sirius Black (who Remus believes, at that time, is a mass murderer who betrayed James and Lily and murdered Peter, and who wants to kill Harry), is an illegal Animagus, endangering Harry and everyone else, just to save his ass from one emotionally stressful conversation with Dumbles. In my opinion, this is one of the most cowardly acts ever committed in the entire series. Let’s not forget that he didn’t let Dumbles that Black was an illegal Animagus BEFORE he knew that Black was innocent. And Remus had neglected taking his Wolfsbane potion which led to him nearly killing/eating three students. He said nothing, while the rest of the staff were worried sick because a known serial killer was breaking into the school. Also, that asshole left Severus to lie head-injured, unconscious and bleeding for almost an hour without medical treatment, even though any period of unconsciousness resulting from blunt force trauma and lasting more than ten minutes is life threatening.

Now Severus:

I see people say that Severus “let an innocent man rot in Azkaban just because he was that petty”, like, do y’all even know how to read?? Many people forget that Severus genuinely thought Remus was trying to sneak a killer into Hogwarts. Remember when he said that line in the shrieking shack? “Vengeance is very sweet. How I hoped I’d be the one to catch you.” You think that was because of bullying? Nope. He genuinely thought that Sirius sold Lily and James out to Voldemort and that Remus tried to irresponsibly sneak him in.

OF COURSE everything is somehow Severus’s fault. Remus is totally just a poor innocent angel who is being treated badly by meanie Snivellus.

It was because of Severus flawlessly brewing him Wolfbane potion every month that Remus got a comfortable teaching job in the first place. He should be very grateful to his old classmate in my opinion. And Severus did not directly tell anyone about Remus’s condition until the end of the year which was the responsible thing to do and everyone probably would have done the same. He saw Remus as a potential threat to Harry. And if he had not, something else would have had to happen to get Remus out of that cursed post. One of the last two DADA professors had ended up dead and the other brain-damaged. Remus was lucky he was allowed to resign; he could have been Obliviated, burned to death or whatever was the fate that awaited the DADA teachers at the end of the year. Severus practically did him a favor. There is a real thing called PTSD based anger. You can clearly see that Severus was going through PTSD anger in PoA by knowing the history between him, Remus, and Black. As well as knowing that PTSD anger is much more serious and intense than normal anger, wanting revenge is another symptom of PTSD. His PTSD isn’t taken seriously and it is NOT invalid just because he was a bit mean. He is NOT petty just because you like Black more than him. Just because his trauma scars got unleashed in a screaming fit does NOT make him “over dramatic” or “petty”. Also, You know who outed Remus Lupin as a werewolf before Snape did? Sirius Black did. Y’know what makes it even better? Snape kept the secret for almost two decades, only AFTER Remus put kids in danger, but Sirius revealed it to Snape almost immediately, for a bit of his idea of "fun". Severus had every right to be angry in PoA: look at what he’s dealing with!! And he was completely justified when he wanted to hand over Sirius to the dementors. The first thing to remember is that absolutely everybody, including Dumbledore and Remus, was certain that Sirius was guilty up until the conversation at the end of PoA - that was why they left Sirius to rot in Azkaban for almost twelve years and made no attempt to speak to him or to appeal on his behalf. Harry himself had been very keen on feeding Sirius to the Dementors, right up until that conversation. Remember that none of the Death Eaters except Voldemort himself knew who all the others were. Snape didn't know that Peter had been a Death Eater, and he didn't know that Sirius hadn't. We find Sirius's gauntness and shakiness touching because we know he was innocent and that he was there to protect Harry, but to Severus, the fact that Sirius has chosen to starve in the forest is proof of his fanatical desire to finish his betrayal of the Potters by murdering Harry, at any cost to himself. And protecting Harry is Sev's primary goal in life. Then, Sevy overhears Sirius still boasting about his attempted murder of Severus, and saying that he had deserved it and victim blamed him. Quite aside from the personal aspect, this is more evidence, to Snape, that Sirius is a gloating killer. And Snape must be terrified - he's run there flat out because he thought Harry was in danger, he can see that they've broken Ron's leg, and now he's trapped at the end of a very long, low tunnel with the two people who nearly murdered him before, one of whom he believes to be a mass murderer and the other of whom he knows to be a werewolf on the point of transformation. And then to cap it all, when Snape reveals his presence, instead of trying to keep him calm and explain the situation, Remus calls him a fool and Sirius sneers at him and says "The joke's on you again", deliberately reminding him of how close he had come to dying before (an event that traumatized Severus for life), in this place, from the actions of these people. Of course Snape is half out of his mind with rage and with fear for himself and for the children. And Severus being traumatized also led to him having a full blown melt down in front of The Minister of Magic aka Fudge.

And no, it wasn't exactly nice of him to want to feed them to the Dementors - but that is a normal thing in their (very horrible dystopian) society and, as I say, Harry himself had been very keen on the idea up until about twenty minutes previously. You could even make a case for Severus in this scene being just as bad as Sirius and Remus, who are proposing to execute Peter without a trial in front of three children (AND Remus rolls up his sleeves when he does so, as if he was going to do it with his own bare hands), even though at this point Remus has not heard any objective evidence that it is Sirius who is telling the truth, and not Peter. (Sirius, of course, knows that Peter is guilty - but Remus only has Sirius's word for it.)

And of course, in the hospital scene, when Snape is raging and irrational, he’s badly concussed - we can see that from the fact that he is spitting as he speaks. Both the irrational rage and the spitting are known symptoms of concussion. Severus’s reaction is completely understandable and justified.

At some point, by the end of GoF, Snape learns that Dumbledore's change of heart over Sirius at the end of PoA was correct and that Sirius was innocent, for a given value of "innocent". Snape and Sirius continue to hate each other and to needle each other, but once he knows Sirius is a faithful Order member Snape does his best to protect him - not only trying to get him to stay away from the Ministry at the end of OotP, but also giving Umbridge fake Veritaserum so she can't get Sirius's location out of Harry, and warning Dumbledore that she is trying to do so.

Remus was extremely selfish and was a coward. And Severus gets way too much hate for outing him even though he’s completely right. And I see dumbasses acting like Severus changed the law and ruined all lives for werewolves. Like, does he somehow have the ability to change the law??😂 He was completely right in Prisoner of Azkaban and I will forever keep on defending him. And somehow Severus is in the wrong for doing the right thing and Remus is an innocent angel? There’s much more but I’ll end it here since I really don’t want to waste your time.

BNHA Chapter 319 Spoiler Analysis: Found Family

Holy crap what a phenomenal chapter!  This arc in general has been great, but this chapter might be one of my favorites of the arc.  Not just because it focuses on Class 1-A (I’m so glad to see the kids again), but because of the growth we see in these kids in general especially Bakugo and Shoto IMO.  Like, holy shit ESPECIALLY BAKUGO!  I stand by my opinion that Bakugo is one of the best developed characters in the series.  There’s so much I want to say about this chapter and I’ll try my best to do so if my poor injured left hand will let me 😭:

The chapter starts off with the first of 3 colored pages we’re going to get over the next few weeks to celebrate 7 YEARS OF MY HERO ACADEMIA!!!  CONGRATS, HORIKOSHI-SENSEI!!!  This series revived my love of anime/manga and really helped me in some really rough spots in my life.  I will forever be grateful towards Horikoshi for bringing this series to life and blessing us with such an incredible story full of beautiful characters.  MHA may be a little overrated, but I still think it deserves all the love it can get.  

Anyway, the color page.  It shows Uraraka, Iida (who has red eyes here, so IDK why the anime gives him blue eyes though I do think they work better for him personally *shrugs*), Shoto, Tokoyami, and Bakugo after basically figuring out where Deku went.  Bakugo is shown tearing up his letter (which says something like “Thank you for being there, Kacchan”; there’s more but I can’t translate it 😭) and you can kinda see some bandage wrap around his arm where he was stabbed.  Also, both Bakugo and Shoto still have some visible injuries on their faces and Bakugo’s hands, so they’re still recovering from the War.  It’s a really pretty page in general and I can’t wait to see what the next 2 color pages are going to look like.  I also kinda want Horikoshi to take a break after this too again so he doesn’t overwork himself.  Maybe he’ll treat himself to the MHA: World Heroes Mission movie 🍿.  

So, Shoto and Bakugo have figured out that Deku is most likely with Endeavor, Hawks, and Best Jeanist.  Problem is that none of them are answering their phones.  I like that Bakugo calls Best Jeanist “Pair of Denim Pants” 😂 and Shoto’s image of Endeavor is still a very angry version of his old man.  Shoto’s still making amends with his father, but he’s still not THERE yet.  Regardless, these kids are smart enough to know that something’s up.  Especially since All Might hasn’t returned to UA either.

It’s basically confirmed by Ojiro that because classes have been suspended, our Class 1-A kids are still 1-A; they haven’t moved into their second year yet.  That clears up the confusion on whether we should still refer these group of kids as 1-A still or not.  

Now Bakugo’s showing how much of a genius he really is despite his personality.  Bakugo figures out that the Top 3 and All Might are working together as a group based on how they all connected with each other back at Central Hospital.  Also, Bakugo concludes that All Might snuck Deku’s letters under their doors while Deku started running.  Ultimately, Bakugo does know more about Deku and All Might more than anyone else does.  He’s been around his childhood friend and he’s admired his idol longer than most people have.  Bakugo understands how bad the situation is and he’s ready to take action.  

As are the other kids.  You can see how determined they are and you can see Kirishima’s black roots coming in 🥺!  Even Uraraka gets some shine here by bringing up the idea to trick Endeavor to come via getting help from Principle Nezu as Endeavor was a UA student.  It’s really interesting to see Ochako in a more serious roll than usual, but I actually like it.  I hope she’s still as bubbly as she always was at the end of the day, but she’s definitely matured and grown a lot over the corse of the series.  Even the simple things like her hair show it as it’s not as floaty as it was before.  I love it when Horikoshi shows small details like this.  It adds to the characters and stories a lot.  Also, the art in this chapter is amazing.

And now it’s Endeavor vs. Class 1-A in a much needed conversation.  All the kids are wearing their school uniforms to make this as formal and serious as they can.  EVEN BAKUGO IS PROPERLY WEARING HIS TIE YOU KNOW SHIT’S ABOUT TO GO DOWN!!!  And, I must say, Bakugo looks damn good with a tie 😳.  You can also get a decent height measurement on the kids here if you want.  Ngl, sometimes I forget that Shoto’s about 2 inches taller than Bakugo.  It’s definitely the hair.  

Shoto’s the first to step up and he scolds the hell out of his old man.  Rightfully so tbh.  Endeavor shouldn’t have ignored Shoto’s calls even though I kind of understood why.  Shoto reminds Endeavor of their plan to stop Dabi though thankfully that’s what’s pushing Endeavor forward so he hasn’t forgotten.  Shoto calls his father “Endeavor” and gets mad at him fro leaving Deku and All Might alone.  The rough translations say he called Izuku “Deku” here too btw.  Endeavor has no response.  I think this anger Shoto’s unleashing is very justified and has been burning inside him since Deku left UA.  His best friend just up and left him and his friends with nothing but a letter to kinda explain things.  Also, Shoto and the rest of 1-A (minus Bakugo) have basically been lied to for about a year.  I’d want answers too if someone did that to me.  

Bakugo steps in by putting a hand on Shoto’s shoulder (🥺) to calm him down a bit and to say his piece.  Ultimately, he thinks what Deku is doing is right, but that the way they’re all doing it is wrong.  I love Deku and All Might, but they’re sacrificial idiots.  They care more about others than they probably ever will themselves.  That’s how All Might lost his OFA in the first place.  It’s because of that that All Might doesn’t have it in him to stop Deku from going down this path.  They shouldn’t have been left alone.  Someone should’ve kept a closer eye on them.  I know the Top 3 were all worried about getting too close to Deku before, but really, someone should’ve been watching them closer on the sidelines.

The next page is a really cool drawing of Endeavor flinging his phone to the kids to catch.  The previous panels showed Endeavor with this face that’s regretful and I think he realized something: That Bakugo is right and that the kids might be better off finding Deku than he is.  So he basically gives the kids his GPS on his phone.  Those are just my thoughts, but it does look like that.  I don't think Endeavor’s just going to up and give up though.  He’s probably going to start rethinking things though.

As Sero manages to catch Endeavor’s phone, he and the rest of the kids think about how even though they’ve only known Deku for a year, they still think of him as family and cannot let him go down this thorny path alone.  They’ll carry the OFA burden with him if they have to.  They can’t smile without Deku around.  These kids truly have become a family over the year.  It’s amazing to see.  Everyone’s like a brother and sister and it’s really nice to see.  I just love Found Family stories, guys 😭❤️

And really quick, I want to focus on my ❄️🔥 boy, Shoto, really quick.  As he’s thinking about Deku, he mentions how shocked he still is about Deku keeping OFA from them and how Deku thought just a letter would suffice.  He has this sad look on his face like he’s trying to say: “I still can’t believe my best friend hid this from me for so long.  Why?  Did he not trust me?”  That’s just my interpretation.  Still, I can’t imagine how upset Shoto must feel.  I think he still cares a lot about Deku enough to go out and find him, but he’s gotta feel some sort of betrayal.  More so than the other students outside of Bakugo because, again, Deku was essentially Shoto’s best and closest friend 💙😭

Endeavor is rightfully worried about letting the kids out in the state of Japan right now, but now Principle Nezu speaks up and praises the kids on growing up so well.  He’s also took into account Deku's feelings about his mission which is why he agreed to the team up.  Also, Deku’s still welcome back to UA whenever he wants thank god ☺️.  He’s a student who has to be protected.  There’s a cute panel of Uraraka and her mom crying happily after getting her acceptance letter too.  Not 100% why this is shown other than Acceptance Letter part, but it’s cute to see.  Maybe Ochako realizes how much Deku needs to be protected or something.

As for the refugees, Nezu had the security system strengthened in time for the Cultural Festival earlier, but they never used it before.  It’s call The UA Barrier.  God, how strong is this thing?  Is it strong enough to stop Shigaraki who was able to Decay the last barrier?  This seems like something that’ll be used in the final battle TBH.  

So, Nezu trust the 1-A kids to bring Deku back home.  Which is exactly what they plan to do as all 19 of them enter Kamino in a badass full page.  I actually wasn’t sure if all 19 of them were there at first since I couldn’t find Shoto for the life of me, but then my eyes saw the BIG-ASS ICE WALL IN THE BACK AND I THOUGHT “OH THERE HE IS!!!” LOL 😂 

The next panel actually does show Shoto with Momo as they capture the villain from the last chapter.  Momo politely calls Bakugo “Bakugo-san”, but Bakugo demands that he be called his insane hero name: “GREAT EXPLOSION MURDER GOD DYNAMIGHT”!  I CAN’T WITH THIS DUDE SOMETIMES WHY DO I LOVE HIM SO MUCH 💥🧡

Deku sees his friend and wonders why they came.  Ochako answers because that they were worried about him, but Deku tries to convince everyone (including himself) that he’s fine.  He’s obviously not and Bakugo calls TF out on him!  He even drops a good F-bomb for good measure.  Bakugo mocks Deku for trying to act like All Might and asks Deku if he can even smile right now.  I actually really like it that Bakugo’s calling Deku out on his shit.  I think Deku needs some good tough love right now to knock some sense into him.  Who would be better to do that than Katsuki Bakugo himself?

As Deku is trying to convince everyone that’s he’s fine (while still looking like a demon btw), there’s a small focus on Iida.  Actually, a few panels this chapter have focused on Iida.  Maybe he’s remembering the time Deku saved him back when they went up against Stain.  Deku saved him then so it’s now Iida’s turn to save Deku.  Also, Iida hasn’t gotten much focus lately and I really like his character, so I’m glad he’s being brought back to the forefront again.  Also, I like hearing Kaito-san’s voice in general so I’d be happy to hear him again (thanks for that one, Haikyuu).

The final spread shows Deku telling everyone to move away while Bakugo, Iida, and Ochako get ready to stop him.  IT’S DEKU VS. CLASS 1-A!!!  WE’RE ENTERING CIVIL WAR FOLKS!!!  Seriously, though, this is great.  I was thinking that it would be just Bakugo and a few other students finding Deku.  Instead we got the whole class.  And looks like that “helping hand” thing will happen later because we got a battle to fight first.  

Bakugo’s become a damn fine leader and I love to see his growth every freaking time🧡! I like how Iida has his hand on Bakugo’s back to support him btw.  It’s weird that Shoto’s not in this page though.  He’s one of Deku’s best friends, so I would think he would be in this page along with Bakugo and his first 2 friends (Ochako and Iida).  Maybe Horikoshi’s saving Shoto for a more 1-on-1 conversation with Deku.  God, I hope that happens because I think along with Bakugo, Shoto deserves a good talk with Deku the most.  

Honestly, I’m not sure who would win this battle.  I’ve been going through scenarios in my head on who would win, but I can’t come to a solid answer.  Class 1-A has 19 versatile Quirks under their belt and they have more energy than Deku to fight, but Deku still has 6 insanely powerful Quirks that he’s been practicing for a while.  The kids could probably win if they strategize enough and use Deku’s exhaustion against him, but again, Deku has OFA and multiple other Quirks.  If he could beat Lady Nagant, one of the best snipers around, he might be able to beat the 1-A kids.  He could just escape with Smoakscreen, Black Whip, and Float if he wants to really.  That would put 1-A on another wild goose chase.  There’s also Deku’s Danger Sense which will be a pain to deal with.  Also, Deku said that he’s as strong as All Might was in his prime with Fa-Jin and OFA combined.  Only AFO and Shigaraki were strong enough to take on THAT.  Plus, we still don’t know what the 2nd OFA Holder’s Quirk is yet.  Deku might use it in this battle.  God, I have so many theories in my head now.  I think this battle will be awesome, but ultimately, I want Deku to come home 😭💚

Because from what I see in that post I was just expressing that I was mad at him for unnecessarily cruel behavior to his (now ex) partner and essentially blaming/justifying his cheating based on his partner’s shortcomings. I didn’t mention race and I’m sorry but if your argument is “you’re not allowed to be mad at Eric or point out his wrongdoings or cruel behavior towards his partner because he’s a Black man and his partner is white” then I’m sorry but I just can’t get behind that.

He cheated on his boyfriend and then said he ‘felt bad that he hurt him’ but wouldn’t take the kiss back because it made him feel free — even though he knew it also broke Adam’s heart, he told him to his face he wouldn’t take it back. And told Adam he was ‘just learning to walk’ even though he very obviously was almost there and just needed more support but Eric hadn’t been paying enough attention to see that.

I understand his experience in Nigeria awoke something in him and I understand he felt very connected to his sexuality and his culture and his people for the first time, and in a way he never had before. I understand that after that experience he felt like Adam’s issues and internalized homophobia were holding him back. I understand his motivations for breaking up with Adam and I’m not mad that he broke up with him, however I’m mad at the way he handled/framed the breakup because it was very unnecessarily cruel. Did he really need to tell him or his fcking face that he ‘wouldn’t take it back’ knowing that this particular breach of trust is what broke his bf’s heart? Would it have killed him to not say that? And what’s even worse is he didn’t seem to understand why saying something like that was a problem. Like this should have been handled way more delicately.

And I’m sorry but not every queer person wants to go to a club and wear a ton of makeup! That’s not a measure of how ‘comfortable’ you are with your sexuality, that form of expression is just not everyone’s cup of tea! Did Adam say he would be mad if Eric went without him or took a friend? No! You don’t have to like everything your partner likes. For someone who values self expression so much he should understand that SELF expression should be determined by the person themselves, not anyone else. And the fact that Eric only brought up the kiss with Oba after Adam told him that ‘wasn’t his scene’… am I the only one who sees the problem with that?!? Like, was he just not gonna bring it up otherwise?

And yes I still love his character and I think he is obviously only 17 and still has room to grow but I’m allowed to be mad at him lol. And I’m allowed to be mad that the writers seemed to frame the breakup scene as his girlboss moment as others have deemed it lol.

So should he get free passes at all of the above because he is a Black man? Or is it that he get a certain number one free passes at mistreating his boyfriend because his boyfriend used to bully him (as many people seem to have been implying)? Absolutely not, that’s ridiculous. And it was also cruel what he (and Adam both) did to Rahim last season, but I admit I was too invested in Eric/Adam to care which was fucked up on my part. And I’m sorry about that.

Very similarly I’m pretty mad at Adam’s dad because while I understand his background with abuse I still have the right to be mad at him for the way he is handling his relationship particularly with his son. But that doesn’t mean I don’t sympathize with him too . And throughout the season at different points I was both mad at and sympathetic to wasted Otis for a number of things, and both Lily and Ola and Jean and Jakob (and Maeve & Aimee in that one scene) and especially Hope Hadden (mostly anger for that one lol). But Eric just went from one of my faves to someone I was very shocked by and mad at at the tail end of the season and he just unfortunately ended the season on a not great moment in my opinion, and honestly I think they are setting him up for some sort of redemption arc or whatever. I have focused on Eric and Adam because obviously they were my favorite ship of the show as you can see from my tumblr. But whatever, I’m allowed to be mad at him lmao.

I don’t know why everyone on Twitter thinks none of Geto’s actions were his fault or even immoral. He was a deeply flawed person who made terrible decisions and that’s what makes him such a good character.

EVERYONE at jujutsu high was in similar traumatic situations as him, he’s the only one who decided to lead a r*cist m*rder c*lt. And while I understand why he did it, it definitely wasn’t a GOOD or honorable decision.

And his daughters. He loved them, but he also literally raised them in a c*lt. I’ve heard ppl say he wouldn’t have cared if they didn’t end up following his ideology, but, like, he did attack an institution full of ppl he was once very close with for that reason, so while I Don’t think he would have killed them or anything, I do think he would have been p*ssed. So I think he tried very hard to instill his ideology into them. We know he was doing that to other people, bc y’know, c*lt leader, so why wouldn’t he be willing to teach that to his kids? Even ppl who are usually against forcing their beliefs on people, instill their beliefs In their kids. So why wouldn’t a guy who thinks he’s SO right that he thinks EVERYONE should follow his beliefs also instill those beliefs in people he raised? He would have thought it right and moral thing to do, and that’s the problem. I think ppl tend to think he’s a “good person” bc he can explain his thought process in a way most people can empathize with, but that doesn’t mean he’s a good person it just means he’s a good character.

Him being right isn’t about whether his emotions were valid or not, it’s about how he handled those feelings and whether he helped more than he hurt. And he definitely did more of the latter. While he did tend to rationalize things as a way to help humanity, he was more driven by anger, bitterness, and self righteousness than his desire to help people. I think that’s why he never actually accomplished anything. He seemed fixated on revenge and ki/ling people, and a lot of his plans were about kil/ling non-sorcerers, rather than saving sorcerers from them. I think he let his hatred get in the way of his original goal of saving people. I don’t even think it was about saving sorcerers by the end there. He was completely willing to kil/l sorcerers just so he could kil/l non-sorcerers, and I think that takes away a lot of the validity of the reasoning he pretends he has. By then he’d spent a decade in his little echo chamber of hate, so at that point maybe even he would acknowledge it was no longer about saving people.

Also can we talk about how stupid his plan in vol 0 was? It’s kind of unrelated, but he is not the genius some of you think he is. (Affectionate, this time) The man was running on pure self-righteousness at that point (probably the result of only surrounding himself with ppl Who worship him for the last ten years) Maybe Kenjaku’s kind of blurring ppl’s perception of Geto? He does seem to be using Geto’s cursed technique much more efficiently than Geto was. But that’s probably bc he’s ancient and knows a lot of information Geto didn’t.

Anyway, back to my original point, his ideology was blatantly flawed, he’s just charismatic and really good at deflecting, so it seems like it makes more sense than it does. Bc it does make sense to him, and ppl like him, they want to agree with him bc he’s charming, and likable, And Tragic tm, so they do (both his cu/lt and readers) , but like, his ideas are pretty flawed (and borderline eug/enics-y?) and the narrative doesn’t want you to agree with him, it just wants you to understand why he’s the way he is. I guess Gege did really well at writing a cu/lt leader at least. Bc I swear some of you genuinely agree with him.

Like how happy did he think everyone was going to be when the vast majority of the population was de-ad??? Including a bunch of their loved ones? What was he going to when someone had a baby who was a non-sorcerer? Ki1l it? What was he going to do if ppl revolted bc he murd/ered all their loved ones? Kil1 them too? There’s only going to be like ten people left on the planet. I refuse to believe this b1tch thought that through.

I actually think KENJAKU’S plan may actually be more ethical. At least their end goal isn’t literally to k1ll people, and allows far more people to survive than Geto’s. Ppl dy/ing just happens to be part of the process rather than the actual goal. And oh my god, that’s such a LOW bar. Kenjaku may actually be helping ppl more than Geto, which isn’t much, but like I said low bar. He’s just less motivated by emotion and doesn’t have a tragic backstory (YET) so he comes of as more ~EVIL~. But it’s actually hilarious that people see Kenjaku as so much worse than Geto when they’re about on the same level. Kenjaku is considerably less outspokenly m*rderous and Geto is a better friend, so it evens out I guess? I would say it’s bc Kenjaku’s trying to ki1l the mcs and Geto wasn’t, but that’s not even true. Geto literally tried to kil1 all of the second years, and Kenjaku couldn’t care less about whether anyone lives or di*s, he’s just just trying to “evolve” ppl. He took Tsumiki h*stage But as far as he knows or cares she could win the culling game, Geto would have literally kil1ed her for being a non-sorcerer. (He attacked a elementary school, he wouldn’t care that she’s a kid, don’t lie to yourself)

And, yes, a lot of Geto’s traits could make him a good person, but those same traits are the ones that make him such a bad person. (Passion, charisma, even empathy at times, bc he empathizes so much with select ppl that when non-sorcerers (who he no longer deems ppl) hurt them He feels wronged and lashes out at the things he deems not worthy of sympathy)

Anyway it’s ok to acknowledge his flaws, or even feel neutral on him, he doesn’t have to be perfect for you to like him. (This isn’t a Kenjaku defense post, btw, it’s just funny that that’s true) I’ve seen way too many posts claiming the only bad thing Geto’s ever done is hurting Maki, and like, that’s nearly objectively false. And like half of them were completely unironic. A sympathetic villain isn’t the same thing as a hero.

This isn’t even Geto hate, I LIKE him, but the widespread perception of him being completely justified just feels so wrong. Why do so many people feel SO protective of him? Is his c-ult leader charisma just that effective?

I actually think pretending none of his flaws exist takes away SO much from his character. It strips away his agency and turns him into this tragic can-do-no-wrong figure that he just isn’t. He’s someone who couldn’t handle their own tr*uma and decided to take it out on the world. The way he decided to handle that is no one’s fault but his own.

Book #35 - You’d Be Home Now by Kathleen Glasgow

The first thing I did after finishing this book was go hug someone.

It's been a while - years, probably - since I hugged someone in earnest. A hug that wasn't a gloryfied handshake, an "Oh hi, so happy to see you!" or an "I had fun today, take care!", but one to say "I care for you. I love you. I'm glad you're on this Earth with me."

I'm not a caring person. Not outwourdly. Neither is anyone around me.

... And that sucks.

I don't tell people I love them, because I'm afraid they'll be annoyed, or worse, they'll feel like they need to indulge me until I go "back to normal".

But I'm sick of that. I hadn't realized all this when my brain was caught up in the lies and deceptions of teenage depression, because back then the mode for dealing with any feeling at all was pushing it down and numbing it alongside all the others. But now that I learned how to deal with the bad shit, I am suddenly also left with all this good stuff, and I have no fucking clue where to put it.

Realizing I'm trans made that a hundred times worse, btw. Because now I realized I could feel even better, be even happier than I ever thought possible, and I want to yell about it, I want to tell people, I want to just live, now that I figured out how.

But. Well. Pandemic and "all genuine emotions beside justified anger and baseline happiness are cringe".

I think I connected with the main character Emory, because she, too, felt like she needed to keep everything to herself, good and bad, in order not to break the balance of her world.

But doing that is like balancing on your tiptoes, on the spot.

First of all………. If you break up with Arthur I personally will come beat you up

Secondly….

Honestly, he probably just goes completely numb

He doesn’t have the emotional stability or strength to handle unpacking how or why it’s happening

You ask to break up with him and his soul leaves his body and he’s just “Ok.🙂Whatever you think is best, baby.”

And that’s the end of it. Won’t even let you explain.

This means don’t prank him by pretending to break up with him either because you’ll accidentally kill him

Like he genuinely probably thinks that he deserves whatever it is that made you want to break up with him and that there’s really nothing he can do to feel better about it

Even if was just something like, long distance problems or needing a break

This also hurts so badly because I feel like… getting to the point where Arthur even wants to date you takes FOREVER… He really really needs to trust and love the person who he’s with…

And so to see them leave would just break his heart up into pieces and he wouldn’t be able to handle that all over again

Anyone from the gang even mentions it or asks how he is and he just tells them he’s fine and doesn’t need to talk about it

Even if he really is aching deep down… He just can’t bring himself to talk about it because it still doesn’t make any sense to him

And honestly, he just doesn’t want things to hurt any more than they already do by acknowledging them or facing them head on

So he just submits to it all being his fault, it was the right thing to do, that you’re happier without him, etc. and permanently shuts himself off

If you left him, that would be the absolute final straw and he would just throw himself into his work and never look back

And honestly wouldn’t even notice if someone else was making moves on you, that’s how out of it he is.

John is the guy who acts like he’s fine if anyone sees him but cries 24/7 when he’s alone

If anyone asks him about it he’s like “I don’t care, it’s fine and I respect their decision… I’m a man, not a baby.”

Honestly…. He’s just saying all that so people don’t really know how much he’s hurting or think he’s weak and try to help

And in a modern setting, Abigail, Arthur, Hosea, anyone really, can’t go to his apartment because he’s lost all motivation to take care of himself

Dishes piled up, laundry everywhere, he’s been wearing the same pajamas for a week, his trash is full of microwave meal packages… It’s just so fucking bad

Probably goes through bouts of rage too

Was he not good enough? Did you think you weren’t good enough? Was it the fact that he has Abigail and Jack? Is he too ugly for someone pretty like you?  

It’s in these moments that he starts throwing stuff around and kicking chairs and whatnot

I imagine it’s all pretty nonviolent but he still just wants to make a mess to release all that pent up frustration

But he always just ends up on the floor or in bed crying again because he really doesn’t understand what went wrong since he was trying so hard to be a good partner

He wanted to be good for you :(

At least to make up for what he did to Abigail

Probably a couple months after the breakup he starts feeling better…

Picks his laundry up and does the dishes and starts to open up to the gang again

He’s definitely still sad when he thinks about it all… But he knows he’ll get over it as long as you seem happy from afar

If any of the other boys from camp try to make a move on you, he does his best to ignore it… Knowing it’s not his place to speak for you anymore, even if seeing you with someone else does make him sad

And he probably takes some extra time to spend with Abigail and Jack, too

There’s really no one like your family (even if they’re chosen) to make you feel better in situations like this

(Especially since they went through the same thing as him BY him)

He takes a while to fall apart because honestly, he’s just so confused

He definitely does not recover quickly, but of course, appears to function kind of normally

If anything, he just gets more quiet and distant than before, simply because he needs a lot of time and space to think about everything

And because looking at you hurts so badly

When you mention breaking up, he probably just stands up and walks away

And if you chase after him trying to explain, he’ll tell you that you don’t need to justify yourself, and that he just needs to be alone

However, deep down, he’s gutted and really just needs the space to process what you said and then calm down

He doesn’t want to face the gang, and possibly you, again, crying, hence why he doesn’t come back for a while, but he knows that he can’t just run away from everything

He never thought that you’d be capable of hurting him in the way that you did

And he wonders what the final straw that pushed you over the edge was

He definitely saw you staying together for a long time, and had a lot of ideas for your future, so the breakup was especially surprising and devastating for that reason alone

And he would probably never want to speak to you again

Not really because he hated you, but because it would be too emotional for him to be around you knowing you didn’t feel the same as him

And even though he’s okay with emotions, the gang just isn’t exactly the right space for him to deal with them

Though he probably eventually talks about it with Arthur after a couple months, once he finds another normal, and bonds with him over the shared experience

He would never be able to ask you this, but he wonders if the reason you left him was for the same reasons he’s shunned in society

I think that would hurt him the most… if you didn’t want to be seen with him in public

Even though he knows that it’s unlikely, since he didn’t want to hear your reasons for leaving, it’s something that he thinks about

Even if it would hurt him to see you with someone else, he wouldn’t do anything about it

And as always, he’d just stay quiet, watching

He’d tease you in front of whoever you were with, talking about how he’s probably the best fuck you’d ever have and that “if you still wanted to fuck him,” he “wouldn’t blame you…” and might even think about it going at it on more time

Dutch is a tough one… I feel like it really depends on how long you’ve been together, the reason why you want to breakup, and how much value he has for the you and relationship itself

I think he’d be more upset about a long term relationship ending than anything and he’d definitely try to argue with you about any of the problems you bring up

He definitely hits you with the, “you should’ve known what you were getting into,” which, honestly, is a pretty fair point

He doesn’t actually want you to leave him, though… He just doesn’t really want to change

Which is why the whole thing ends up being so T O X I C

But if he realizes that you are actually serious about breaking up, he isn’t above saying that he’ll put the work into fixing everything

Though that’s kind of a lie, since he’s mostly just saying it to get you to stay

If the argument gets too intense, he’ll let you walk away

But only because he’s going to brainstorm about how to get you back

I’m sure this is a given, but none of the other boys at camp are allowed to even think about getting close to you

It wasn’t so bad when you and Dutch were still together, but if he wants you back, everyone is a threat

Arthur and John are given direct orders to not even comfort you… And Dutch even tries to get Miss Grimshaw to be mean to you

At least so he can swoop in and save you… Thinking that you’ll run right back into his arms if no one except him is nice to you

Because that’s where you belong

If he doesn’t manage to succeed in winning you back, the moment he realizes that everything is over, he will 100% start ignoring you

And don’t put it past him to try show off the fact that he’s found someone new to fuck

Honestly, since he’s the leader, at this point, he’d probably just be looking for a good way to get rid of you

Nothing violent, just find a little brothel he can pop you in when the gang’s about to leave some random town

To give Kieran some credit... He’s probably the most in touch with his emotions

He doesn’t respond very well to the breakup, just says okay and lets you walk away, but he’s not above accepting the truth and just crying about it for a while

First and foremost, you need to be happy, even if it means without him

Part of him wants to beg for you to stay so badly… Hold onto the bottom of your shirt and cry… But I know that he probably thinks he doesn’t deserve to and would be able to stop himself

Obviously, you know better than him about everything so why would you be wrong about breaking up?

His work definitely lags and he ends up spending more time with the animals than anyone else, but he’s okay at holding himself together

No one would even know he’s still suffering unless they talked to him about it

Which they don’t, really, and honestly he’s sort of glad, because it gives him a lot of time to think about everything

Which is why, even months after the breakup, if he hasn’t found someone new, he still thinks about what it would be like if you stayed

Daydreams about cuddling with you, about dancing with you, about brushing the horses with you, starting a family, everything…

He wishes it were his so badly

And so seeing you with another boy, especially if it were someone else at camp, would absolutely kill him

And yet, he’d still manage to keep it all to himself. Nothing but his greedy eyes left

Self esteem gone forever… He’d take you back in a heartbeat

Doesn’t help that the poor baby definitely gets clowned by Dutch and Micah about not being able to keep “a good fuck” around

It really hurts… But in the end, he knows they’re right

Javier probably gets over everything the quickest out of all of the boys.

I just see him as having the most romantic experience out of all of them, so he understands how relationships (and breakups) work

His logic is, why would he want to be with someone who doesn’t want to be with him?

Which makes getting over you faster than normal

Especially since, regardless of why you wanted to leave, he’s going to respect your wishes

Definitely a little peeved at first though because he thought things were fine between the two of you

He’s just not going to bother trying to get you to stay

Especially since he knows that he can be kind of flirty with people even when he’s with you

That being said, if he sees any of the other boys at camp trying to get with you, he’s going to be BIG MAD

First of all, he was there first, so they should know better than to touch someone else’s things

And second of all, it would just feels like they’re showing off the fact that you left him, rather than the other way around

But honestly, he probably wouldn’t care if you found a stranger to mess with. It’s not like they know your relationship history, and honestly, he knows it wouldn’t be fair if he were ever to find someone else he likes.

So he’s fine watching you run around

It’s only ever late at night, if it’s been a while since you’ve spoken to him, or he’s feeling lonely, that he thinks about what things would be like if you were still with him

He wonders what really made you leave, and if you were honest with him during the relationship

Overall, he’d be okay, but would definitely still be down to fuck if you ever wanted! You may not want to be with each other anymore, but it doesn’t change the fact you guys had some bomb ass sex

Sean

Sean is another boy who’s going to be a bit more angry than sad

That being said, he’s no where near as bad as Micah and knows that the anger comes from the sadness

He’s just extremely frustrated that things didn’t work out, and resents the fact that you didn’t even want to try and fix things with him

It’s not like he really blames you for that… But he wishes that he could

Especially since throughout it all, even now, he doesn’t actually hate you, and still wishes that you would come back

He’s knows his personality can be a little overwhelming, but he would’ve been willing to change if it made you happy!

But honestly, since he doesn’t need to anymore, everything about him just gets a bit… Worse

Constantly making a show of showing off for the other girls at camp, always trying to flirt with the girls at the saloon, talking the boys’ heads off about anything and everything…

Just to distract himself and prove that he’s doing fine… That you didn’t hurt him at all, and he doesn’t need you

But even he’s not all that convinced

If any of the other boys at camp start messing around with you, he’ll definitely start a fight with them, feeling like were just doing it to piss him off

He’d lose, though, and would end up just going to bed and crying.

If he saw you flirting with a stranger, he’d be equally as mad, but he probably wouldn’t do anything other than get super drunk in front of you to ruin the mood

Eventually he starts feeling more like himself, and it definitely helps if you don’t treat him weirdly, but he finds that he does still think of you when he sees cute married girls or children, wondering what he would’ve had if things didn’t go wrong.

Especially since he also gets teased by the gang for not being able to hold it down… Despite his constant talk

On a reread of Sansa V of GOT, this really stuck out to me when Joffrey asked the Hound to recount him calling Robb the lord of the wooden sword and the Hound replies with; "Did I? I don't recall." This is in front of Sansa on the parapets with the heads on the wall. The same chapter Sandor tells Sansa to give Joff what he wants. He is going against his own advice here, isn't he? Is he emulating her defiance? Or just trying to not be a cause of distress to Sansa? (Love your posts) -Tyler

Yes, he's emulating her defiance. Apologies in advance, but I really love this chapter, so I need to talk about what leads to that moment at some length. 

"Save yourself some pain, girl, and give him what he wants."

"What … what does he want? Please, tell me."

"He wants you to smile and smell sweet and be his lady love," the Hound rasped. "He wants to hear you recite all your pretty little words the way the septa taught you. He wants you to love him … and fear him." 

Sandor advising Sansa to appease Joffrey probably is a glimpse of how he coped while living with his abuser. We know that even before his disfigurement, six-year-old Sandor was already terrified of Gregor. At that age, one can imagine there was little he could do against his brother except steer clear of him and give him whatever he wants. Remember, Sandor's face was held to the fire precisely because he rebelled against the unspoken house rules. He dared to take something that belonged to Gregor, even though Gregor didn't want it or care about it. He learned that any attempt at agency would only provoke the abuser into brutal retaliation. Not that this justifies Gregor's response to Sandor playing with the toy, but it does explain Sandor's reasoning behind his advice. In the passages that came just before, he saw that defiant streak in Sansa when she told Joffrey she hated him, and she was struck for it.  

He doesn't want her already terrible situation to worsen, so he's advising her to be loving, soft-spoken, beautiful, and accomodating. She needs to be vigilant over Joffrey's moods and never displease him with her behavior or appearance; however, Joffrey also needs to see that Sansa fears him so that he can feel in control. If Joffrey feels like he's already broken her and won, he might be satisfied with that and decide not to beat her. Now obviously, Joffrey is always going to be violent and cruel no matter what Sansa does. And I think Sandor knows that most of it will be unavoidable because he says "some pain," not all pain; however, it's the best advice he can give from one domestic violence victim to another. 

Sansa's response to Sandor's advice shows that she does take it to heart but also manages to express her defiance while doing so.  

“After he was gone, Sansa sank back onto the rushes, staring at the wall until two of her bedmaids crept timidly into the chamber. "I will need hot water for my bath, please," she told them, "and perfume, and some powder to hide this bruise." The right side of her face was swollen and beginning to ache, but she knew Joffrey would want her to be beautiful.”

She does not mince words with the maids. She very matter-of-factly points out the bruise the king put on her. The powder is just a show for Joffrey, but she isn't seriously attempting to cover up what he did, nor is she cowered by shame. And she knows those maids report back to the queen, so she is indirectly telling Cersei, "look at what your son did." She's throwing that shame and disgrace back on her captors. It's also very poignant that the evidence of her abuse is right there on her face. She's not pretending it was an accident or making any secret of who did it. Just another way that Sandor's backstory might be influencing her actions at this moment.  

The hot water made her think of Winterfell, and she took strength from that. She had not washed since the day her father died, and she was startled at how filthy the water became. Her maids sluiced the blood off her face, scrubbed the dirt from her back, washed her hair and brushed it out until it sprang back in thick auburn curls. Sansa did not speak to them, except to give them commands; they were Lannister servants, not her own, and she did not trust them. When the time came to dress, she chose the green silk gown that she had worn to the tourney. She recalled how gallant Joff had been to her that night at the feast. Perhaps it would make him remember as well, and treat her more gently.

 (I'll come back to this dress later.) There is an intense conflict within Sansa as she tries to put Sandor's advice into practice. In private, she can thoughtfully work out how to appeal to Joffrey's sense of nobility (at least the appearance of) and hopefully get him to flex power through mercy rather than cruelty. She still has her pride and her anger, though. When in the presence of her abusers, her desire to lash out at them in equal measure is barely containable. Reclaiming her dignity and avenging her family is in a constant tug-o-war with her will to survive and the advice she tries to follow.  

Joffrey does not make this any easier, because later this same chapter, he goes hard antagonizing her.  He hurls insults and death threats. Mortifies her with talk of her menstruation, and getting her pregnant. The coup de grâce he's hoping for is to see her crumble before the heads of her father and Septa Mordane; however, through sheer strength of will, Sansa manages to push through her terror and tame it. Her obedience to the order becomes defiance as she stares at the unrecognizable faces, separating them from the people they used to be. "He can make me look at the heads, she told herself, but he can't make me see them." The absolute stone-faced badassery of asking Joffrey, "how long do I have to look?" as if she could do this all day without flinching would never be lost on Sandor, who is silently watching this whole interaction. He's not just moved by her suffering, in my opinion. It's her grit, her audacity, and courage under fire.  

To his massive disappointment, Joffrey isn't getting the satisfaction of her crying and pleading. So then he turns on Robb, her only hope for freedom at that point, which brings us to Sandor's act of defiance. 

Remember the green dress and Sansa's purpose for wearing it? It's clearly not Joffrey who is inspired to behave more nobly or gently toward the wearer here. It's Sandor. Sansa wore that dress the night she responded to his secret and his boorish behavior with courage and compassion that he didn't deserve from the way he was scaring her. If the dress could trigger anyone's memory, it's Sandor's. So how can he do any less than aspire to her example? 

"I remember your brother from Winterfell. My dog called him the lord of the wooden sword. Didn't you, dog?"

"Did I?" the Hound replied. "I don't recall."

Sandor is answering Joffrey's question, just not in the way Joffrey was hoping. He is modeling his response after hers. It's not just an act of defiance but solidarity with Sansa. This chapter shows some of the first cracks in Sandor's loyalty to the Lannisters. It's even better Joffrey is just too dim to realize that Sandor is deliberately taking the wind out of his sails. There's probably a twinge of regret in there too for taking lame, immature digs at Robb, and having it brought up again at this particular moment. BTW, I covered the scene that immediately follows here and Sandor's response to that.

Why Kou is the best character in Ao Haru Ride & the most deserving of a fangirl club

to preface, the main girl (futaba) and main guy (kou) had crushes on each other in middle school, which would’ve progressed when kou invited her out to see her at a place near a clock. however, kou did not show up because one of their classmates questioned futaba on whether she fancied kou, and she was extremely introverted and replied that she hated boys - which she did. but, she had felt differently for kou since he was more gentle and less brutish than the other guys who were really the epitome of pubescent boys. so i see the appeal to kou. upon hearing this, kou decided not to show up in fear that she would not reciprocate his feelings. alas, she was left waiting in the cold for most of the night, and would not hear from him till highschool because he moved away due to his parents’ divorce. he also changes his last name from tanaka to mabuchi (this is significant). 

edit: it has been brought to my attention that kou hadn’t shown up bc it was his parents divorce that day. i might’ve missed this detail but i assume when he tells futaba it’s not at the beginning so rlly mayb it’s another element to the ~character development~

When reminiscing, i only remember Kou to be the nonchalant, token tsundere, yeah he doesn’t care about you or your feelings. and upon surface level i found it to be so annoying, because he was the guy who left futaba out of his own fear. she was owed an explanation because despite it being middleschool, i too, would’ve been traumatised if the boy i liked had stood me up and not to mention leave school without a word to any of this classmates. i can side with futaba because i am also an introvert and it plucks a lot of courage to be able to ask someone out in the first place. however, that being said - being an asshole straight off the bat can only mean that there’s room or character development which to my little 12 year old self - failed to realise.

when kou moved middle schools, he struggled to find his group of friends, which in hindsight would probably be difficult for anyone who was going through what he had - his parents splitting. however, he meets ms. narumi, who initially we are grateful that she was able to help kou break out of his shell and develop friendships at school albeit he wasn’t besties with anyone. despite this, i will never forgive what she does later. as i’ve mentioned earlier, when kou enters highschool he becomes an asshole. this is because he experiences his mother dying and as anyone would be, he became bitter. he was more closed off than before and upon this revelation, we begin to sympathise for kou. because losing a loved one is as depressing as it comes and we begin to understand that with his parents divorce there was no one else there for his mother except for him. his older brother, given the split, had stayed with his father and so to satisfy his mother kou spent all his middle school years studying, with a realisation too late that he had made no better memories with his late mother. 

consequent to his loss, we accept that his “asshole” personality is justified and he had become a man full of regret. during highschool, he moved back in with his father however, avoided spending time with his family at all costs. he’s revealed to be hanging around a group of friends to merely ‘waste time’ and really, he doesn’t enjoy anything in life. yet, ms. futaba, is persistent in nature and still has feelings for him so attempts to develop a friendship because of their previous relationship. much to his dismay, he still harbours remnants of his crush for her, however, he cannot and refuses to acknowledge it - he does this by not saying it aloud but he’s written her name in a notebook and despite the knowledge of its existence he does not tear or throw it away.

as futaba and kou’s relationship develop even further - she convinces him to stop seeing the friends and instead he has better friends at school who are all in this event committee or something like that. however, as the story progresses, narumi comes back and asks kou to help her because shes moved to the same town and has also experienced the death of a parent - which also happened after her parents divorced. knowing what that feels like, he felt obligated to help her out. i’m not sure if he intended to be an anchor for her, but this situation turned out to be very manipulative - because narumi was purposefully trying to hold down kou and drag him away from his character development, because as you would assume, futaba & co. are the steps towards moving on from his bitterness, regret and anger, and narumi tries her best to pull him away from it which inherently just inhibited his growth. 

kou isn’t aware of this manipulation, because despite being an asshole prior he sympathises with narumi - which, really shows how kind hearted he is. he goes even further with his generosity by rejecting futaba, because even if they had dated, he still could not leave narumi because he felt as it was his duty to help her overcome her own adversities, which would’ve made futaba uncomfortable. it was/is in fact not his duty to help her overcome her trauma because as we all know it’s part of her own journey, and by helping her, he is still being tied to the past and he himself cannot overcome his trauma. 

IV

because he had rejected futaba, she decides to move on and although it does not happen immediately, she starts dating this other guy who in my opinion (which is completely objective btw) is so pushy and forward and he’s just a rat. because she starts to date this dude, kou realises that he still likes her, and depsite seeing them together he is unable to move on, or get rid of his feelings for her. now normally, this would be a bit problematic, however, because i hated kikuchi (futaba’s new bf) i don’t care. so, what i enjoyed about this particular bit of his transformation is that he was able to preserve the good things of his childhood which was fundamentally, memories of futaba and the times he spent with her. so when kou has his final talk with narumi - he lets himself out of that toxic environment, which is probably step five of his character development. and he goes back to the town he lived in when his mum died. he takes futaba with him to override the horrible memories that he had made - ones that reminded him of his parents divorce and his mum’s death. his logic behind this method was because when he was in the infirmary he was able to overcome his hate of the disinfectant smell because he was with futaba. 

he also reconciled with his mother’s passing by visiting her grave and letting her know that he is finally able to move on. 

another bit i wanted to mention, because it was so chivalrous of kou - basically, futaba got mugged and her bag had a strap that meant a lot to her. and so she tried chasing him, however, she got lost because she kicked the guy in the face and tried to run away. eventually, kou found her and she was really shocked and she actually had a fever so he had to carry her all the way to her hotel room. and then she mentioned that she lost her bag and really needed it. so, he left the hotel room and retrieved it and during his absence was when all the friends gathered in her room. when he comes back, he’s found the bag and throws it at her boyfriend which is funny because it shows how useless the boyfriend is lol.

after this, he does not give up trying to chase after futaba, because she’s been such a pivotal element to his life - which we can all see. his hard work does not go in vain, they do end up together which is very pleasing. but the final bit to his reform is his last name change. as you can imagine, the initial change from tanaka to mabuchi was probably something that was traumatic but then when he changes it back to tanaka he’s able to move on from his bitterness from his mother’s death. not to mention, he was very adamant on futaba to stop calling him tanaka but its pretty significant that he was able to overcome his personal struggles.
