Wash Day || PJM x Black Fem Reader
inspo You're hair is really soft (Pinterest)
Tumblr media
*woman in gif is not a face claim
yn: hey baby i'm getting ready to start washing my hair. so i'll be slow to respond if you text me within the next seven hours <3
jimin: seven hours ???
jimin: wait can i help
yn: uhh sure. if you want i'm unraveling my braids now
You sat your phone down, focusing on the ombre brown box braid in your hand. It was officially fall, and it was time to take out your late summer hairstyle. You stretched this style longer than usual due to your recent visit to South Korea. You came to celebrate Jimin's birthday and spent the remaining three weeks sightseeing before returning to your country.
The once neat squares were now fuzzy and overgrown. You were excited to see this much new growth spreading across your scalp. You peeked over your phone, seeing Jimin hearted your final text message. Jimin never shied away from asking you questions about your natural hair. Of course, he knew about the versatility of black hair, but now that his girlfriend was black, he felt he could become better informed.
"Yeobo." Jimin cooed, taking off his black puffer jacket. His eyes shining with pure love, looking at you. Despite half of your hair sticking out.
Jimin bent over and laid a kiss on your lips. He sat down before you, feet crossed and tucked underneath his body. "I'm ready to be your assistant."
You demonstrated to Jimin where to cut and how to unravel your braids. Like a good student, Jimin watched you take down some braids. Watching how generous you were with the detangler, using the rat tail comb to pick at those annoying knots.
Jimin was so gentle, slowly detangling your hair. Starting from the ends of your hair as you taught him. With each crinkly track of hair that Jimin removed, more and more of your natural hair was revealed. He showered your hair with compliments, not caring about the specks of dirt or clusters of hardened gel.
Starting your natural hair journey was something always intimate to you. It was your hair. Your crown. It was a part of your identity. Whether it was short, long, kinky, or curly. It grew from your scalp and was a testament to strength. Not letting Western beauty standards strip you of the beauty you were handed down from your ancestors. And for him, Jimin, your non-black boyfriend, to engage with your natural hair. You felt connected with him on another level.
In no time, an hour to be exact, you and Jimin finished unraveling all the braids. Your afro was extended high and moved like blades of grass in the wind. Jimin sweetly called your hair cotton candy.
"Your hair is so soft. I love it in this state." He leaned back on the couch, proud of his work.
"Na ah. We still got more work to do; now we have to wash it."
No complaint left Jimin's mouth as he rolled off the couch.
"Okay, but I wanna take a picture. Your hair is so cute right now." You playfully rolled your eyes but stretched out your hair to look suitable for the picture. Knowing Jimin, he was going to make this photo be his lock screen for who knows how long. With his hands around your hips, Jimin pulled you in close. His full lips puckered, kissing your cheek. Your eyes were closed, giving the camera a beautiful smile.
Reviewing the image, Jimin laughed, seeing that your afro covered a good portion of his face. But his lips on your cheek were still evident. Clearing out your kitchen sink, you explained to Jimin how each product would help your hair. He was simply taken aback by the six bottles that were sitting on the sink.
Jimin held the faucet spout over your hair, impressed at how your hair was repelling the stream of water. Jimin counted the sixty-seconds it took for your hair to start dripping from the water.
"So this is what you mean by low-porosity?"
"Yeah, it takes a while for my hair to get wet and for my hair to dry. Well at least air dry."
You squirted the coconut-scented shampoo in your hand. Ensuring that you scratched up any dirt in your hair. The scalp massage was your favorite part of washing your hair. You reached for Jimin's hands, getting them into your hair. His hands massaging your hair, hitting all the itchy spots.
"This is so satisfying, not gonna lie." You physically relaxed into Jimin's body. Despite the slightly uncomfortable bridge position you were in. You didn't mind as you watched Jimin wash your hair. You recognized his look of determination as he gave care to each area of your scalp.
"Gimme kiss." This time, you were puckering your lips for a kiss. Jimin didn't hesitate. Since your time in Korea, you have not had the opportunity to have a 'down' day with Jimin. Either he was taking you to a new part of the country he wanted you to see. Or you were working remotely from your laptop. You weren't working odd hours due to conflicting time zones. You were finding peace in the little things, like watching Jimin breathe. Your hands traced his jawline, feeling his bare skin. Not many things if life are 'perfect', but this moment between you and Jimin would be close. You basked in the moment. Not wanting this moment to end. Not enjoying your time to end.
"I love you."
"I love you more."
"Impossible." Jimin rinsed the shampoo, repeating the process with conditioner and deep conditioner. Jimin hadn't even noticed the time just flying by. He was just going along with the flow. Watching you section off your hair before blow drying it. The sections displayed an obvious contrast in the apparent 'length' of your hair. When soaking wet it was barely near your ear. Yet after being stretched by the blow dryer, it was at your collarbone.
"What do you need help with next?"
"This next part is pretty simple. I'm just gonna do five cornrows, then call it a night. You've been such a help, babe."
"Teach me how to do it." Jimin patted on the carpeted ground for you to sit in between his legs. In a matter of thirty minutes, Jimin mastered cornrows. Something that took you months, maybe even years to make them look presentable.
"Had I known you were this fast learner, I would have taught you this when we met." You looked at the five braids. You looked at the time, noticing that only four hours had passed. Jimin helped you shave off three hours of wash day.
"Glad to be of help."
I feel like I'm constantly changing my format when writing these imagines. Oh well. Life has been good lately, hope life has been good to everyone too <33
I'm def looking forward to the discourse on Golden over the next few days.

Tumblr media
Sanemi is OBSESSED with your hair, it was the first thing he noticed about your fr. so ofc when yall got together he wanted to know everything, what products you use to keep your hair so bouncy? How does it smell so good? How is it so soft? Will you marry him? Boyyyyyyy. Anyways he didn't want to overwhelm you with these questions so he didn't say anything but after he witness firsthand how much time and effort that you put into washday and how tired you were cleaning up all your brushes and combs and all the hair that shedding during the detangling process. He couldn't stand to see how worn out you were after so he asked to help. Now every Wednesday (unless he is on a mission then he tells you to wait..) it's wash day. And he helps you with washing your hair, he takes the showerhead from you to make sure all parts of your hair is drenched especially if you have low porosity hair. He always makes sure to get a nice lather on your hair by getting shampoo in real nice. Scalp massagesssss>>>>>>>>. At first he was fucking terrible at detangle, ripping thru your fucking hair like it some grass or sum, but you nip that shit i the bud so quick cayse unt unt hunny what the fuck was that. He was pouting outside the door when you put him out and did the detangling process by yourself. He got better, not the best but he was trying. He be trying to do his lil thing with the blow dryer but they dont work out like you thought they would, (like negro aint you a WIND hashira.. righttt). He has a whole pinterest playlist on hairstyles for you to try but he is not about to tell you to your face, so he gotta be slick about suggesting hairstyles. Will walk around with his hand holding your ponytail cause you finally got it to the point where its not lopsided, but your last scrunchie popped and you had nomo around so ofc you called your man like duh. You forced him to watch videos about how to do twists and braids so that he could help you out. Putting that man to work as you should, but he is in love so it don’t even matterr. Like he loves helping you with your curls, it's a different type of intimacy that he didn't get to experience in his youth so ofc he is going to cherishh this time that he gets with you. OMGGGGG IMAGINE HOW HE IS WITH YALL KIDSSSSSS YALLLLLLLLLL, OMGGGGG imagine having the iconicccc container full of barrettes, ribbons, bows, headband etc. Mans is going all outttt on yall lil girl hair making sure she always wins the best hair category fytbb. Now he might have knocked bbygirl in the head with a few balls on accident but he always made it up with kisses and ice cream. Always make sure to brush and comb your daughter's hair when she isn't gonna be tender headed by her mammy. He would have him on his lap showing her pictures of the styles he was going to do just going on and on and on and onnnn like okay we get it you happy wrap it up na. His son has more of his hair texture but slightly more curly and a tadddd bit thicker than his and he aint know wtf to do. He took his ass right back to youtube and figured it out cause he wasnt about to let his son walk around looking any kinda way. He always makes sure his hair is moisturized but not overly so, making sure the ends do not split yawp yawpp. Need a him in my life fr. yall he was sooo sad when his son go his first haircut. He such a sap yall i canttt. OMGGGGGG yall have matching bonnets/durags and its just so cuteee yall. Omg im making myself want kids …

Don't Touch My Hair... I MEANT IT!!!
Tumblr media
Entry Date: 1/18/2024 11:03 pm
Today's topic is 'Don't Touch My Hair,' and I mean it quite literally. I am tired.
Tired.
Tired.
I'm so tired of this shit, and I want to cry and scream and more.
My hair is something I've struggled with since I was a kid. It's a very sore spot. When asked what their ideal hair would be growing up, most girls would point out things such as a difference in texture, thicker hair, or even extra length. For me, it sucked because I didn't have any of the desired traits.
My hair was a lot different than my siblings. Their hair was much fuller than mine. My hair is low density, aka it's hella thin... Man, is it really thin. Reflecting on what I know about my hair now, my hair also has low porosity, while my siblings seemed to have medium porosity.
My mother struggled to plant the proper seeds to make my hair grow and be healthy. She didn't know how to take care of hair like mine. With my siblings having thicker and much more resilient hair, it was no reason why their hair seemed to flourish in different settings; meanwhile, mine would break off at the most minor inconvenience.
For the majority of my life, I grew up with short hair and even went through the phase in middle school of lying about my length so that I wouldn't be ridiculed. I would go to extreme lengths to manipulate my hair in a particular way to feel more feminine and aligned with the beauty standards. None of that would be able to erase the many years of humiliation I would feel from my peers or even my external family (grandma, aunties, etc.). It was like a running joke...
I felt so ugly for many years, but I still held the idea that my beauty was tied to how my hair looked. Even now, in my early 20s approaching my mid-20s, I still struggle with this. I struggle with prioritizing my physical appearance, though I know the beauty within is what counts the most. And trust, I do focus on building my internal world and shifting the harmful internal dialogue, but it's just so hard when the world is built on all superficial matters.
I've won over certain battles that I faced regarding the beauty standard. For example, I have big boobs. Big boobs, by nature, sag due to gravity, skin elasticity, genetics, and so many more factors. I thought something was wrong with me during my teen years. I mean, why the hell was my boobs frowning if I didn't even birth any children?? But the older I got, the less I started to care. Shit neither does my partner, so I just learned to embrace this difference within myself. But when it comes to my hair... it's the battle I'm struggling to win over the most.
I shaved my hair in the summer of 2022. It is now January 2024, and I'm still baldheaded.
Granted, the past year, for me, has been highly stressful. I suffered hair loss due to stress from work, my weight was fluctuating, and my health over was in the gutter. Due to this, I started balding in random spots. However, it's been MONTHS since I stopped balding, and my hair is not even 5 inches...
It makes me feel so ugly.
So masculine.
I mean, I've been with my boyfriend for 2 years, and since we've dated, I've been taking care of his hair. His hair is now mid-back length, drastically different from his mini afro. And yet, here I am, his girl, with shorter hair. It just makes me feel so undesirable. I feel the need to wear a full face of makeup every time my hair is out. That is just utter bullshit!
I'M JUST SO FUCKING TIRED!!
And I'm so hurt.
This never-ending battle with my feminity tied to something as trivial as my hair is draining me. If anybody asked me if I was over all of my hair struggles that summer of 2022 before I shaved it, I would've said yes!! But I'm clearly not and don't know what to do.
Outside of being overpriced for simple services, these new-age stylists LOVE adding a pile of product, mostly thick gel, to our hair and straightening it for basic styles... How are these styles being labeled protective??? My hair just simply won't thrive in those conditions.
And what sucks is I love styles such as mini braids or twists, but hair is such a low density, I end up looking like Cynthia from rug rats LMFAOO. Just 3 goddamn braids on my hair.
I want to know how do I feel pretty with my hair in its current state. That's the question no one knows how to answer, and I don't expect them to. The answer should come from me and only me, but this battle just feels so lonely...

The hair mask thing depends on what's in your mask and the type of hair you have too. Like my hair breaks off with high-protein masks. I have really low porosity hair, so I often wash my hair in the sink with a clarifying shampoo (less product gunk helps the mask penetrate the clean hair shaft), put on a low-protein mask and a silver reflective cap to hold in heat and then clean things for about an hour before I then shower and rinse the mask off. Or if I am wetting my dirty hair and doing an oil treatment, I'll cover my head in an old scarf and then shower and wash and condition the next morning. But you have to choose the right masks and application methods for your hair. It's not one size fits all.
This is so fascinating and also absolutely above my pay grade for beauty knowledge. Love and ty for sharing!!!!

Hi!
I read your posts religiously girl i relate
as someone who also has an abusive mom who wouldn't let her care for curly hair, could I ask for hair care tips?
with me the issue is that she thinks it looks bad so she doesn't want me to have curly hair. she has curly hair too but she oiled it so much and combed it so weirdly that it became straight. god knows how she managed to do that. i'm going to college soon though so she can't stop me.
you don't have to answer this if you don't want to. i know it's not the usual thing you post.
Yes oh my god thank you for asking this curly hair is my special interest and I love talking about it.
So, step 1 is to figure out what your curl and hair type is. It goes on a scale from 1a to 4c and low to high porosity. You can easily research to figure out what your hair and curl type are and from there you can figure out what types of products you need to use.
So all curly hair care needs 5 different products.
1. Shampoo.
2. Conditioner.
3. Leave in conditioner.
4. Styling product.
5. Holding product.
Wash your hair 1 or 2 times a week unless you have time to do a 2 hour styling routine every day. Never dry brush, only detangle when your hair is wet with conditioner in it. Style your hair when it's dripping wet, curls love water.
I have a product thats a hair mask/conditioner and leave in all in one. I've also seen stylers that double as hold products so read labels and figure out what you need.
There are other things you can get too, like clarifying shampoo, co wash, pre shampoo treatments, protein treatments, hair oils, diffusers ect. Start with your 5 products and build your way out based on what you think your hair needs. You can get everything you need in the curly hair section. Look for ones that are silicone and paraben free because those are ingredients that make your hair look good in the short term but will stretch out your curls and create frizz in the long term.
Go on YouTube or Tiktok and find hair influencers who have a similar hair type to yours. Watch them, see what products work for them, try them out. Listen to black women, your hair is more similar to theirs than it is anyone else's and black women have been running the curly hair community for decades.
I will say good curly hair care is more expensive than straight hair care but it doesn't need to break the bank. Cantu is a good, healthy hair brand that makes a full line of products that are affordable and actually amazing. Garnier has a product called Hair Food that I use as a cowash, hair mask, conditioner and leave in, it's so cheap but it's so good I buy it in bulk.
The last thing to know is that curly hair is a journey. A "big chop" is an easy reset, but you can get beautiful curly hair without one. You will notice your hair feels healthier before it starts to look good. You'll be figuring stuff out and your hair will be transitioning. You might be dealing with frizz, limp strands, multiple curl patterns. It can be tough but the result is so worth it if you just persevere. Find a curly community. There's one here on tumblr, there's also curly hair communities on Reddit and YouTube.
Enjoy your hair 💕

You have such amazing curly hair!! what’s ur current routine and what would you recommend for someone with 3A-3B curls? I’m at a loss for what to do for my curls
AAAA thank you this is the perfect question for me i am super into my curl products and routine haha!!!
heres my holy grail products
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if i were to recommend any products above all else these three!!! i should clarify my hair’s porosity is low meaning it doesnt absord water so easily haha it beads off my strands & my mom was jarred at my waterproof hair. these two products are my holy grail for low porosity loose curls i use these the most :-) and if u have high porosity then your hair might be the opposite & you may need products that are meant for hair that likes absorbing water. Mine does not so most products are very heavy on my hair and sit on top of it leaving me frustrated and uncomfortable with how unruly my hair is…….
I use plopping techniques after i apply my leave in conditioner with water cupping my hands / let my hair run under the shower for a half a second after i put the leave in on & then i’ll apply the mousse and gel. i like to use a denman brush to brush the product through in the direction i want my hair to dry ^.^ highly recommend air drying and letting the cast of the gel harden and then combing through it with a fine tooth comb to get that fluffy curls look i have that gives it the volume and some definition for my bangs to still curl. I like to also sit in humidity to shape my curls after i crunch the cast and comb it and it tightens the springs of the curls that are defined……so i’ll sit in a hot shower and not get my hair wet like a sauna or if its a rainy summer day hell yes that is my shit!
aaaa i also use this shampoo and conditioner
Tumblr media
And this is my favorite deep conditioner!!! i use lots of heat on my deep conditioning treatments simply bc low porosity hair absorbs product through heat better. probably why humidity benefits me i love how big my hair gets in humidity…..! But i always use it either in a hot shower or a heating cap :)!
Tumblr media
i think thats it but if i think of anything i will follow up with a reblog!!!!!!!! i hope it helps!!! good luck!

About your dassius stabbing post, I loved it but as a curly haired person, I just wanted to say my hair actually gets oily when it’s dirty. I cannot speak for all curly haired people but I just wanted to say maybe some hair types do(?)
Glad to see my Cassicurls digression didn’t go completely unnoticed, lol. No, but thank you, anon, for offering your two–cents. I personally haven’t had curls—and only 3a—since I was young (yet another of puberty’s crimes against me) so I’m admittedly reliant on online research and there’s lots of conflicting information. I appreciate your comment—and the opportunity to discuss Cassius’ hair, the often–sung hero of the Red Rising saga.
TL;DR is that you’re right, of course, and I agree that dirty hair is usually oily, regardless of type. But, for various reasons, the description still strikes me as odd. I’ll get into them, although I’m well–aware that absolutely—
Tumblr media
—including you, anon.
Anyways! I’m mostly working off my Cassicurls headcanons; 3b/3a, medium porosity. Given the ways his hair is described throughout the series (bouncy and springy coils that hold shape, lustrous and luxuriant and remarkably low–maintenance), it seems accurate. (However, I welcome anyone to share their own thoughts on this extremely important matter.)
Now, if you don’t know anything about curls, Cassius has basically won the volume, resilience, and moisture lottery with this combination. It def stretches credulity. But Cassius is God’s babygirl when it comes to his appearance, isn’t he? I’m crafting an offensively handsome man. If he’s not perfect enough to inspire violence, I’m doing something wrong 🙃
Obviously, everyone’s hair is unique and it’s fair to assume that Gold hair is substantially different than ours. It’s better, bigger, bolder, bursting with vitality, glowing with the radiance of a thousand suns! Just ask Darrow, lol. He literally cannot shut up about Stangtresses and Cassicurls. (I have no complaints about this.)
But even Cassicurls—yes, even Cassicurls—can look greasy and oily if they’re extremely dirty, absolutely filthy and completely neglected, as they are at the end of RR. (Although Darrow disagrees—he is still beautiful, still more handsome than I ever will be—ofc, he is 🙄)
So, what throws me off about this particular line from the Dassius sex stabbing scene is that it doesn’t make sense, if you spend too much time thinking about it, for Cassius’ hair to be dirty. PB makes it clear that bathing and grooming are things that the particularly vain and foppish Golds do at the Institute in the later days of Darrow’s reign over Mars, when the territory becomes safer. Darrow mentions scrubbing himself to a gleam before he meets Diana, Antonia gives herself fastidious manicures and never ‘has a speck of dirt on her,’ combs and toothbrushes exist, Cassandra uses flowers to make improvised perfumes, etc.
Still, even if Cassius is washing—and I have to believe he is; no way he’s letting the side down this early in the game; he has a reputation to uphold—one of the common problems with raw curls is that oil gets trapped on the scalp and can’t easily disperse into the hair. And it’s hard for me to imagine that the Bloodydamn Curls™️—even superhuman and beautiful and powerful enough to kill with a single flick as they are—would require none of the maintenance associated with texturized hair. So, in the absence of moisturizers and conditioners and whatnot, dryness and frizz are coming for the Cassicurls.
(Will nobody think of the curls! They are imperiled! Are haircare products eligible as bounties? Asking for a friend.)
So, oil on the scalp, dryness, frizz, and (😱) breakage are all fair game, especially in such a humid environment. But oily hair, as in, the hair itself has oily residue? Curls are generally moisture–whores and rarely low–porosity, which is what persistent greasiness despite washing implies. And Cassicurls are def not low–porosity, given their description 🤔
But like I said, I let it slide, because Darrow is understandably muddled by Cassius’ 10–inch cock blade rearranging his guts.
(I’m fully aware that I’m overthinking this. Unfortunately, the brainrot is aggressive and irreversible at this point. Thoughts and 🙏 for me, plz.)

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow? NOT! My Natural Hair Growth Routine
Hey, curly cuties and coily queens! Ever dream of mermaid-length locks that turn heads wherever you go? Well, toss those Rapunzel fantasies aside, because achieving epic natural hair growth is closer than you think! Forget harsh chemicals and heat damage – embrace your gorgeous texture with a routine that nourishes from root to tip.
Ready to unlock your hair's full potential? Buckle up!
1. Know Your Curls:
First things first, understand your hair's porosity (high, low, or medium). This helps you choose products that penetrate properly and avoid moisture overload. Think of it like choosing the right key to unlock your hair's secrets!
2. Cleanse Wisely:
Ditch the daily washes! Aim for gentle cleansing 1-2 times a week with a sulfate-free shampoo that focuses on your scalp. Pamper your strands with a deep conditioning treatment afterward – think of it as a luxurious spa day for your hair!‍♀️
3. Moisture is Magic:
Natural hair craves hydration, so keep it quenched! Use leave-in conditioners, spritzes, and natural oils (like coconut or jojoba) regularly. Bonus points for sealing the moisture with a light oil on your ends to prevent breakage. ✨
4. Scalp Stimulation:
Give your hair follicles a little TLC with regular scalp massages. Use your fingertips or a scalp massager to increase blood flow, which can promote hair growth. It feels amazing and benefits your hair? Win-win!
Tumblr media
5. Protective Styling is Your BFF:
Minimize manipulation and breakage with protective styles like braids, twists, or bantu knots. They keep your ends tucked away and allow your hair to grow undisturbed. Plus, they're super versatile and stylish!
 6. Trim the Damage:
Split ends are like gremlins for your hair growth – they slow things down! Get regular trims (every 8-12 weeks) to remove split ends and keep your hair healthy and growing strong. ✂️
7. Natural Powerhouses:
Explore natural ingredients like castor oil, coconut oil, and aloe vera for their nourishing and growth-promoting properties. Do your research and patch test before applying!
Remember, hair growth is a journey, not a race! Be patient, and consistent, and shower your hair with love. And hey, don't forget to have fun! Experiment with different products and styles to find what works best for you.

1) ur hair is so pretty!!!
2) drop the curl routine rn. my curls never behave ive tried (mostly) everything 😭
aaaaa thank u so much!!!! being real my curls don't always behave too but a few years ago my new years resolution was to give my hair special attention n here is my personal routine!!! (i am so touched u want to know 🥺)
1) so my hair is so so so low porosity so i like to focus on keeping it as hydrated as possible. i use a cowash and then a conditioner in the shower, n then use a curl cream on my wet hair after i rinse conditioner. i find for me it works better when my hair is v v wet when i apply it! i also use a denman brush in the shower, i only finger brush mostly for less breakage and only use the hairbrush when i have my conditioner in because its less likely to cause breakage! i also leave my conditioner in for a few mins before rinsing out.
2) i use products after my shower too! i start w brushing my hair out again to detangle, n then use a hair moisturizer and then hair gel which helps w definition and with locking the moisture in. then i give it all a lil squeeze with my hair towel (microfiber ones bcus it creates less frizz!). in summer and warmer months i leave it to air dry but when it's cold i use a hair dryer. so if i'm using that i also use a heat protectant spray!!! and i have a diffuser attachment on my hair dryer, keep the power on low and not too hot.
i also try to use very "light" post-shower stuff because my hair can be quite easily weighed down and lose definition and be v flat w richer products. also i try to get my hair trimmed every 12 weeks or so just to keep it healthy and #fresh
if u want specific product recs lmk i'm happy 2 share! also sorry this is so long and extra i just love taking care of my hair gkfkgk

Hello how does your hair curl like that. Do you have any curly hair routine. I have curly hair as well though it doesn’t quite curl like yours. I wish to know any information you might have about this subject. Please.
yeah i got u ^__^ so my hair type is a 3b 3c mix & dense & coarse with low to average porosity. so that's the shape, how much of it i have, how thick the strands are, and how easily it holds moisture. if u find out YOUR hair type and how it reacts to moisture, then u can kind of predict what it will do in any setting. so for ex. i never try to straighten my hair if the humidity is over 60% that day (or if i know it WILL be the next day, etc.) just cuz i know it won't last that long.
so for MEEE, i don't go for volume. i go for defined curls & showing length. so i need product to weigh it down and shape it. so basically hmmm. ill describe what i do from shower to bed. but: lightweight but clarifying shampoo (usually something w/eucalyptus or mint, but not strong enough to dry out my hair). a light/average conditioner to smoothen. i don't wash out all the conditioner + i usually detangle here (basically i brush my hair in the shower to detangle & evenly distribute conditioner). i let my hair stay soaking wet when i leave the shower, i do not touch it all. i have a HEAVY curl cream (something defining or just focused on moisture, i'm using the afro love hair souffle rn) and i can work with any gel but i prefer something w extra strength over something weaker. i've used got 2 b, ecogel, or afro love's curl jelly before. i really like ouidad's gels... basically i don't really care about the gel (the stronger gels are more prone to flaking, though, so be careful ab technique), i just need to have. a lot of it. like an obscene amount. SOOOO. i section my hair by putting it in a ponytail and then taking out pieces of that ponytail at a time. i use my brush to brush in a little bit of the curl cream (really not much, just enough to smoothen & moisturize). then i use, like, a pump of gel per section. i finger curl during this step, like i don't run it through the hair, i use it to shape/coat the finger curl. and then repeat. i re-wet my hair if it feels too dry, u have to put the gel on wet hair. i prefer soaking wet... but by the end of this my shirt is usually soaked ToT. i prefer air drying but usually it's a night time shower before bed... so i have a silk bandana i put over my pillow + i wear a silk bonnet. then in the morning or once it's dry, i like to separate some of the curls and fluff them (break up the gel a bit if it's too much). i usually relax the base of the curls with heat (i use my straightener) just to add a bit of length & then loosely run through some of them if i feel like they're too bunched up. basically fighting shrinkage. it's why my curls look looser than 3b/3c in a lot of my photos tbh.
anyway it's a lot. my other friends w curly hair cant use heavy products like this (looks greasy or weighed down), but if ur hair is like mine, then it can handle being slathered. it might feel unnatural to do at first, but ull see... it actually helps manage moisture retention/looking dull. i always get comments of like "ur hair is so soft/looks so healthy/etc." only after i do my routine. tbh. lowkey if this doesnt make sense i can try and record a video tbh.

how to have an everything shower ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
an everything shower is a weekly necessity for all. let me give you an ultimate guide on how to do it . .
Tumblr media Tumblr media
body : :
- what to do with your body in your everything shower !
001 , dry scrub ( daily )
- once you have hopped into the shower , get your loofah // brush // scrub and start scrubbing your body. this can get rid of dry skin !
002 , soap bar ( daily )
- now , use a bar of soap to wash your body !
003 , shower gel ( daily )
- next , pour a decent amount of shower gel on your loofah // brush // scrub and wash your body !
004 , exfoliator // scrub ( weekly )
- grab your exfoliator and apply it to your skin , this helps remove dead skin cells and makes your skin smoother !
005 , body wash ( daily )
- apply body wash to your skin , it is less harsh than shower gel but both still needed whilst showering !
Tumblr media
post - shower : :
- this is what you need to do after taking your everything shower , as soon as you leave the shower !
001 , apply lotion ( daily )
- apply lotion // cream on your body , something like cocoa butter or the kwailnara milk body lotion may help !
002 , baby oil & vaseline ( daily )
- afterwards , rub baby oil and vaseline on your body to make it softer !
003 , body oils ( daily )
- now , put on body oils on your body !
004 , fragrance ( daily )
- add body mist , deodorant , perfume etc !
Tumblr media
hair : :
- disclaimer : : this is what helped me with my african // curly hair but you anyone can follow too ( p . s I wash my hair every few days ) !
001 , wash ( on routine )
- turn on the tap and let cold // lukewarm water run in your hair , massage your scalp as you do so !
002 , massaging ( on routine )
- make sure to massage your scalp with a scalp massager but optionally , you can use your hands ! this can help promote hair growth !
003 , conditioner ( on routine )
- apply a sufficient amount of conditioner to the ends of your hair !
004 , shampoo ( on routine )
- add shampoo to the scalp of your head. make sure to massage your scalp as you do so !
005 , relaxer ( occasionally )
- if you want to add relaxer , you need to have added the ingredients before the shower but if you have , wash it out of your hair !
006 , hair masks ( weekly )
- apply the hair mask of your choice ( I use the tsubaki hair mask - if you have low porosity hair I do not recommended it for you ) and leave it on for 5 - 10 minutes , once you're done , rinse it out !
007 , hair oil & other products ( on routine )
- once you're done , dry your hair and start to brush when dry. separate your hair and apply hair food , oils etc. once you're done , I'd like to have heat protection on my hair before I straighten it.
Tumblr media
skin : :
- this post won't go into full detail about skincare but here is my routine : :
001 , prep ( daily )
- start by washing your hands , add your skincare accessories , light some candles , play some music and washing your face !

- apply your oil - based cleanser then your water - based cleanser after !
003 , toner ( daily )
- now you can apply your toner pads or regular toner !
004 , serum ( daily )
afterwards , apply serum !
005 , moisturiser ( daily )
- then add a moisturiser of your choice to your face !
006 , additional things ( on routine )
- after my routine , this is the time when you can add lip scrubs , lip masks , eye masks , face masks , etc !

I took my braids out a little early because the hair oil I made actually worked and helped my hair grow faster so the braids were getting too loose... So I thought I would share.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yarn braids have been my go to protective style for about two and a half years now as a way to wear colored hair without damage to my mixed 3C hair. The colors I choose are usually based on season or my monthly goals. The only thing different this time is the oil I used before applying my braids and half way through the month of having my braids in.
How to do oil infusions can be found in my post here.
Initially I made the oil as an extra protection spell and blessing (which yeah it worked) but I also cross referenced my ingredients to my ethnobotany studies for hair and skin care. Here's what I used:
Grapeseed oil
Rosemary
Lavender
Rose
Sage
I infused the grapeseed oil with all the dry ingredients and when applying it to my hair I heated the bottle I contained using hot water before applying it to my hair. (Heat is recommended if you have low porosity hair.)
Tumblr media
I share this because I've struggled with growing my hair for majority of my life and this was the fastest my hair has grown which is almost 2 inches in a month.
Only love, no hate please. I am just sharing my experience. I have a lot of notes of oils and herbs for hair care and this is what worked for me. For your own hair journey I would suggest learning your hair type, porosity levels and protein sensitivity for your hair to best know how to care for it.
Blessed be ✨💛The Blasian Witch💛✨
