Okay, this is mainly for my upcoming SebaMey reincarnation fic, where Mey-Rin and Ran Mao are cousins/ besties/ roommates, as well as goth loli girls. I was looking at gothic lolita fashion the other day and came across the gl versions of My Melody and Kuromi, which instantly reminded me of them. (I'd seen the gl Hello Kitty before, though.) I thought posting this would give me some motivation to write more. I had been hoping to at least finish the prologue by now, but I'm still a wreck after losing Buddy. I can't believe it's been a whole week now. I miss him so much.

Undergrell Fic Recs (AO3)

Disclaimer: This is a rewritten list that was intended to go into a reblog for a post asking for Grelltaker fics. Later, I saved a draft of my reblog while I was halfway through the list. When I returned to continue just barely five minutes later, I found that it was gone, and I couldn’t find the original post in neither my likes or in search. Dear random user, this is for you.

Jealous Time by fms_fangirl — This is an incomplete series surrounding a universe mostly anime-adjacent for Undergrell. Here are some highlights:

A Wild Rose by fms_fangirl — The Undertaker is sick and Grelle bunks off of work to look after him. It’s crushy, sweet, and sets up their dynamic for the rest of the series.

The Lenten Season by fms_fangirl — In this multi-chapter work, The Undertaker fights for Grelle’s cinematic records. It’s sweet, it’s climatic, and it’s a long read.

Everyday Grace by fms_fangirl — This was my introduction to the series. The Undertaker forgets Valentine’s Day, and Grelle and William have a heart-to-heart as workplace BFFs. Bittersweet and fluffy. What more is there to wish for?

The Dispatch’s Day Out by fms_fangirl — This work is not a part of the series mentioned above, but it is still a wonderful piece. While The Undertaker x Grelle isn’t the primary focus, it is still a lovely ready, because it (mostly) focusses on Will, The Undertaker, Grelle and Ronald going around London for a team building exercise set in place by the management. For the most part, it remains in character almost seamlessly, and I genuinely loved it. It’s bittersweet, angsty, and just lovely, as I said.

Secret by FaeaKai — A short, silly one shot in which Grelle tells The Undertaker a riddle that he can’t solve. (Grelle does get misgendered here, so take that as a trigger warning, with a grain of salt.)

Embrace Me by GhostLove — A lengthy one shot that has Grelle reflect on her actions from the “un-canon” part of the anime’s first season, or more clearly, episode seventeen where we saw Grelle and The Undertaker interact for the first time. It’s a sweet piece, and sometimes drags, and it doesn’t stay in character all that well, but if you’re interested, it’s still quite a good read when or if you’re ever interested.

To my Dearest by Arkham_Cat — A beautiful, sweet drabble of complete nothingness. And that’s perfectly okay, because it is just pure fluff. A nice little vice to warm the very cockles of your heart, this fic shows some brief letters (notes, really) between Grelle and The Undertaker.

The Bet by fms_fangirl — While this list isn’t in any specific order, I definitely saved the best for last. This fic jumps back and forth between the past and present, as Grelle recounts how she won her and The Undertaker’s bet. The butterfly effect used here is very elaborate and well thought out that it’s a bit mind boggling, but that doesn’t stop the tooth-rotting fluff! This fic is incredible, and it’s easily at the top of my fic recommendations.

Okay, I lied, I’m sorry. I’ve been trying to do something for a Sebagni fic but I genuinely have no energy…

Instead how about some more Sebagni HCs so I can make up for it? And I will get to ACTUALLY writing a modern au for them… eventually!

So, as always, here’s some HCs for the ship that has my heart currently - warning: this one contains nsfw under the cut.

Agni is a very affectionate person everywhere - he loves showering Sebastian with compliments and talking about him to everyone, and he’s a fan of PDA. However, Sebastian is a lot more reserved on this - he will absolutely speak well on Agni if he’s brought up in conversation, and he will lean into Agni’s touch, but he’s mainly affectionate in privacy, to maintain his aesthetic. He has no problem teasing the other in public, though.

They barely ever argue or disagree, as they have similar opinions on the things they normally talk about, and what Seb does disagree with Agni on, he is instead shown a new perspective that leaves him thinking more deeply about it.

Saying this, when they do argue (which, again, I couldn’t see them doing often. It would be a very rare and unfortunate occurrence), everyone notices how Agni is a lot more anxious and a little impatient, and Seb is a LOT more irritable and snappy.

Ciel and Soma are like their adopted children. Whenever the two get into trouble as kids do, Sebastian is the one they face lecturing from. Agni makes sure they are okay, but isn’t ever harsh on them, so Seb has to be strict for the both of them.

They are very protective over one another. Agni in the sense that he really cares for everyone in his life, and Seb in the sense that it’s ‘his human’. So if somebody insults/upsets one of them, they should watch their back.

As far as relationships in kuroshitsuji go, theirs is genuinely pretty healthy (or as healthy as it can be). I feel like if Agni did actually know Sebastian is a demon, he might be surprised, sure, but otherwise not really bothered about it. He is of the firm belief that anyone can change and be a good person - just as he did - so, even if Seb is a being of sin, he would still love and protect him.

One time, Soma flung the doors to Agni’s room open in the morning, and was shocked to see Sebastian sitting in Agni's bed, wrapped in his khansama's arms as they had been enjoying the early hours together. The prince may be young and energetic, but he wasn't about to separate the two - who he thought were so clearly soulmates - so he immediately apologised and left.

In terms of their sex life, Agni is really soft. He likes praising his partners, kissing them gently, taking his time, and I could see him doing body worship. Sebastian sometimes manages to convince Agni to be a bit more rough with him but, surprisingly (to himself too), he enjoys the praise a lot more than he’d expected...

Aftercare is Agni’s expertise. He tends to feel really guilty if Seb mentions any pain after their nights together, and is so sweet with him right afterwards - cuddling, bringing him water, cleaning them both up, immediately tending to any wounds… even just light bruises.

Agni loves it when Sebastian rides him. To him, it’s like the ideal position - facing each other, close proximity to allow for kisses or touches, etc. As soon as Seb learnt this, he also found out that, to get Agni flustered and heated quickly, he just had to straddle him. He uses this way too much, and it still works every time.

Sebastian doesn’t have many stand-out preferences, but there are a few that catch him off guard. One of these, Agni learnt, is fingering - especially while kissing. Seb prides himself on his physical self-control, so both were just a little concerned when he started shaking and gasping into the kiss. It also helps that Agni has his blessed right hand…

Last, quick one: Agni often cries in the act, and Seb finds this incredibly endearing.

Finally!!! There is already a category for 烏は主を選ばない | Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai | Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master (Anime) on AO3. So far there are six fanfics about the series.

I don’t usually brag about my works, but I am proud of them bc I love this series so much. It occupies my life, body and soul. Most of all I want to promote others’ works as well that you might be interested in bc they deserve the attention.

@ynxnyx wrote Wakamiya’s POV on his aide’s appearance during the bride selection, Episode 11 ending. I love this drabble, not only bc it was their gift to me (first time experience on AO3. I just started writing fan fic in 2021 due to Kuroshitsuji, though I’ve been a longtime reader), but also it is on point as the anime crew emphasizes this partnership. Love it to death bc it is also my head canon.

Reading @reinekkoya’s “The Raven Does Not Care for its Hair” feels like a fly on a wall. It is like witnessing what are Yukiya and Wakamiya doing this summer. Lovely writing.

“Intimacy tastes like citrus” by quartzguts. Somewhat naughty. Somewhat sweet. Solid narrative. Yukiya, who doesn’t choose his pesky young master, Nazukihiko.

Here’s wishing that there will be others too who get to be inspired to contribute once the last episode airs. The Japanese fandom side create fics and fan arts like there is no tomorrow.

Though I honestly dread the day they will air the 20th episode. What if the interest on this show will dwindle like a host of others before? It is a diminutive fandom after all.

On the other hand, I feel envy whenever I realise that Chisato Abe concocted this universe when she was still a Waseda Uni student. So young. So talented.

What will solve this dilemma is to learn more about these wonderful characters and this world. That is, if they can release the 12 books (Part 1 composed of six volumes, Part 2 contains 4 volumes, two short stories) in English. That would be fantastic. Hopefully.

Hello, just finished your fic "An Earl and His Demon Butler". And I love it...Thanks for sharing your hard work. I'm new in Black Butler fandom and before this I got a lot of bad reviews (especially for sebaciel fans). As a multishipper I want to know for myself and I watch the anime and read the manga. And WOW...Kuroshitsuji series is amazing, the story is great and the arts are beautiful.....And I can't help but also become SebaCiel shipper as I enjoy this series....

What made me love BB... Well, believe it or not, at first, it wasn't because of Sebaciel.

Let me preface it by saying that I love murder mystery. I started with the anime before moving to the manga and what attracted me to the series (at first) was how Ciel is taking this role of a detective, solving cases (Jack the Ripper) and he has this stupidly powerful demon by his side.

When I reached the Phantomhive Manor Murder Mystery, I really got into the series because it's just so well done. Funny, mysterious, and oh so cleverly done.

Later on, of course, I started shipping Sebaciel and it opens up a whole new world for me to explore.

But it's not just the series itself that makes it so special for me. I've met other people in the fandom, kind and wonderful people.

So, I guess the three things that makes BB so special for me is the mystery plot, Sebaciel themselves, and the community that makes up the fandom.

I can't think of anything else that reminds me of Sebaciel in terms of their dynamic. There are a few similar settings in other media, but so far, I haven't found anything that's as complicated, as messed up, and/or as power struggle-y as Sebaciel. Or maybe I haven't read/watched too many others. Sorry...

Hi! I wanted to ask your opinion on why you enjoy Kuroshitsuji if it isn’t too much to answer. Recently I have been feeling like I’m being ‘punished’ for enjoying Kuro because I always see people talking bad about it and Yana on twitter. 😅 I am well aware Kuro has a lot of issues but I really enjoy the characters and such but the opinions of people about the series kind of has been hurting me as a fan and thus I have been losing interest🥲 I was hoping I can talk to someone who is a fan of Kuro that can help give me some mindset or something. I have been drawing for Kuro for years so I’m quite passionate towards the series and Yana herself and but this has been bugging me. If you can’t answer this it is totally okay and you can delete this ask❣️

Hi, anon! That’s not too much at all! My apologies for the late response; I wanted to make sure I could sit down to properly get my thoughts in order before answering.

My love for Kuro was originally (and is to this day) rooted in the source material. The manga and anime introduced me to some of my most beloved fictional characters, including Miss Grelle—as attested to by my url! 😉 The story instantly had me hooked with its campy hijinks, tragic undertones, and forays into the dark corners of the human psyche. Even with the current lag in pacing, I’m excited to see where the Phantomfam’s adventures take us next! And, of course, I would be remiss without mentioning the artwork. In a visual medium like manga, aesthetics can make or break your enjoyment of a series, and Kuro’s Victorian steampunk flair is perfectly suited to my tastes, especially with the steady improvement in quality as Yana’s honed her craft over the years.

However, particularly during this dry season of short chapters and plodding plot progression, it’s the community that grew up around Kuro that nourishes my love for it the most. Naysayers condescendingly sneer that the fandom is dead, but the incredible art, funny memes, awesome animations, excellent fics (some of which outshine published novels I’ve read), insightful meta and more that I see across my dash and in the tags suggest otherwise. And when we come together (such as during past fandom weeks or @anewp0tat0 ‘s recent event to celebrate the 200th chapter) that display of talent burns even brighter. As a writer, building up lore in headcanons and fic or reading my mutual’s creative interpretations of Yana’s world is just as fun—if not more so—than engaging with the actual manga. That enrichment alone is enough to keep me invested in the Kuroverse for the foreseeable future.

The series also holds considerable sentimental value for me because it served as the catalyst for my queer awakening and brought friends and loved ones into my life who I would never have met otherwise. Even if the day comes when I put Kuroshitsuji on the shelf in favor of other stories, that positive impact will remain.

However, that doesn’t mean that the series or fandom are perfect. Yana’s sleazy past and irresponsible pandering to the gross side of the fandom are an unpleasant reality with which we must contend, as are the fujoshis, transphobes, and other creeps—some of whom proved to be a genuine danger to minors—who continue to give us a bad name. But those people who blindly label Kuro as wholesale trash and accuse all fans of condoning the problematic content merely betray their simplistic, black-and-white way of thinking. We cannot and should not sweep the objectionable aspects of the series under the rug, but we can interact with Kuro critically—recognizing and calling out the areas in need of improvement while also cherishing the best parts of this cursed butler manga. As long as you’re consuming media responsibly, and in a way that doesn’t actively harm others, then you have no reason to feel guilty. You sure as heck don’t deserve to be punished!

Ignore the haters as best you can, and try to focus on what first ignited your passion for Kuro; don’t let those jerks steal your joy. 😤 Alternatively, if you need to take a break from that onslaught of negativity and just rest for a bit, that’s fine, too! There’s no shame in stepping away to recharge, and you shouldn’t push yourself to participate in fandom if doing so is detrimental to your well-being.

pour me a glass of vermouth { shaken and very stirred }. a detective conan/magic kaito fic that i dreamt, woke up, and wrote at 3am. it's shinichi realising that kaito (his boyfriend) is family with an assassin that he's had to fight against.

insanity { when life weighs down too hard on your shoulders and you can't close your eyes in fear for the demons. } a criminal minds fic that i wrote initially for a friend on tumblr that's luke x spencer.

disguises ( you're not as hidden as you think ). a detective conan/magic kaito fic that i honestly want to delete because it's not good but i also don't believe in deleting fics, so...

five times robin's acting skills were amazing yet terrifying. a young justice (cartoon) story where... well, exactly what it says on the tin. it was written due to the young justice prompt meme challenges or whatever back in 2012.

fantasy ( we're apart despite longing. ) a detective conan/magic kaito fic and probably the one i'm most proud of of the top five. it was initially a one-shot that i wrote for a friend on tumblr, turned into a series, and i still need to write the third one and it's been 5 years, oops.

hawk's eye, an alex rider and detective conan/magic kaito crossover that was based on a series of fanfics written by dblanc that they have graciously allowed me to write. i just suck at coming up with plots (i'm mainly a character-driven/analysis writer), so i'm just stuck on that.

personally, i'd say character-driven angst. i've been told that i'm quite good at writing different characters and given them their own cadence and tone that makes them sound like them despite the numerous fandoms i write across.

this is a review from a specific friend (who is really talking about my roleplaying that i do).

um. this is based entirely on my experience of writing with you but i think you're really good at setting up scenes. like laying the foundation for any interaction so the other person always has something to build on. i think your writing is also pretty evocative in the sense that if your muse is feeling something strongly, you convey it really well in a way that moves the reader. i think you interweave introspection in between dialogue and narration really well too, bc when you switch to a character's inner monologue it always blends smoothly and there's always a good flow to your writing.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i do it when it makes sense to, and then i add translations for it. however, sometimes i don't want to do the research and i just go "i want some bread," he said in french.

if you count my really really shitty fanfics when i couldn't spell when i was seven, harry potter. on ao3, it's kuroshitsuji.

Oh no don’t apologize! I love people asking a bunch of questions because I love rambling about my fics!

💖- What made you start writing?

I have two answers for this question, since I actually stopped writing a while ago and then got back into it.

I first started writing in general because I was primarily a Wattpad user (I had no idea Ao3 existed, but give me a break I was like 13) and I was reading fan fiction for a manga/anime series called Kuroshitsuji or Black Butler and I just wanted a heroine reader like me.

Most of the "readers" or "ocs" in those fics didn't really stand up for themselves and often let the guy characters walk all over them--or they would be referred to as "badass" but were never really given a chance to be badass. And, at the time, they were also mostly blonde haired/blue eyed.

So I started writing because I wanted a heroine reader that stood up for herself and didn't take anyone's shit and was actually badass on paper--and who had brown hair and eyes like me. I actually still have the full outline of the fic I was working on, and a draft of the prologue, and here are two commissions I bought for my oc:

I did eventually stop writing for a while, though, because I was just tired of writing and rewriting and rewriting (the outline and draft I have currently is my 3rd rewrite of the entire thing, 4th if you count the other completely different version of it--I get very nitpicky with my fics sometimes).

What got me back into writing was actually you. I started reading "Shoulder the Sky" and I saw how much work you had put in and how passionate you were about your fic and I just...got inspired. I already had an outline for The Great War sitting in my Google Docs (from back when I first got into Star Wars) and I basically decided "fuck it, if they can do then so can I, I'm gonna start writing again" and I did, and now I have two fics ongoing and several in the works that I can't wait to get to.

👀- Tell me about an up and coming WIP!

Ok, one of my WIPs that I'm working on (that I hope to start writing soon, once I finish the outline) is a Modern!AU called "Deeper Roots."

Basically Cody and Obi-Wan are high school sweethearts who have had a long-distance relationship for over a decade now, since Obi-Wan had to move away from their town when he got custody of his siblings (Anakin, Ahsoka, and Reva) from their father (Qui-Gon) due to family issues.

Well, Obi-Wan and Cody decide that he should move back to town since Anakin will be starting college soon (he's 21, but took a gap year and then waited since he had an accident that took his arm) and the college of his choice is nearby + Ahsoka wants to go to that same college + they all miss Cody a lot and want to see him more.

Only one problem. Cody hasn't come out to his family and they have no idea he's dating someone, let alone that he has a boyfriend and that he's--for all intents and purposes--technically a father of three. They all try to keep things a secret from his family still, but things obviously get a whole lot more complicated once the two sides of Cody's life start to intermingle.

(also, I think Reva should be incorporated into their family in Modern!AU fics more often, I think she'd make a great youngest child)

🥺- Is there a certain moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

Ok, slight spoilers for BCC, but one interaction that always makes me emotional when I start to think about it is this one line that I have planned for the end of BCC.

Basically Obi-Wan and Cody are hiding away in a storage room after a hard battle and Obi-Wan says something about "not wanting to be High General Kenobi."

So Cody says that they don't have to be Commander and General. That, when it's just them, "they can just be Obi-Wan and Cody."

👐- Would you please share a snippet of a WIP?

Nothing else is really written yet, so here's a snippet of the next chapter of Bloodshed, Crimson Clover:

The Force sparked restlessly under Obi-Wan’s skin as he stared at the empty holomap in front of him, eyes searching it for the readouts of a battle that hadn’t happened yet—or, rather, was happening, but just out of reach. He could look away. Attempt to meditate, or finish last mission’s report, or do something more productive with his time, but the near-blinding blue light of the blank screen had already seared itself into his mind and he knew that, even if he walked away, it would follow him. 

So he stayed. 

Staring. 

He hesitantly reached out along his and Anakin’s Force Bond, gently pushing forward the memory of Crys announcing they were only fifteen minutes out and an impression of– you? Them? Safe? 

Part of him didn’t expect Anakin to respond, and another part of him dreaded that very fact, but—as always—Anakin was full of surprises. He was quickly hit with a twin pair of waves, harsh impressions of impatience and frustration that burned the back of his throat, and their corresponding memories—one of the 501st’s Star Cruisers disappearing in a flash of fire and smoke, a supply ship they were escorting quickly succumbing to the same fate, Anakin’s admiral informing him that they couldn’t hold out much longer. 

The taste of ash felt thick and heavy on his tongue, and it took him a moment to recover from the sheer intensity of it all—although he was careful to keep his expression devoid of any emotion. Anakin was strong in the Force, but that meant he often forgot to take into consideration how his power might affect those around him. Obi-Wan was used to it, however, so he was able to disperse the effects quickly enough, and the emotions that followed were all his own.

Black People in Kuroshitsuji is a criminally unexplored concept in fan works so I’m doing it myself

Hey guys, it’s me again and I’ve just slept for about 24 hours. And I wanna talk about black people!

I’ll just lay it all on the table here, I’m black. I’m a young, neroufunky black woman in her twenties and I’ve been a part of many fandoms for most of these years. Regarding anime, black butler is the very first anime I’ve ever been introduced too. It has a special place in my heart for that reason.

I really do love this series! It’s dark, gritty, mysterious, and so complex! I love the characters, and the setting has so much to enjoy! And, in my opinion, this fandom has some of the best fanfic writers out there!

But I have to say, as much as I love all the content (the black butler x reader stuff too!) I just wish I could find some content that featured us, y’know?

Sooooo therefore, I’m doing it myself!

Y’know the saying, make the content you want to see in the world (that’s not the quote but you know what I’m tryna say.)? I’ve always admired fanfic writers and I always wanted to make my own fanfics but I was way too embarrassed and unconfident in my own writing skills. But recently I said, “fuck it!” and decided to do it anyway.

I was just thinking, y’know? What would it be like, as a black woman from the modern era, to come into contact with this world and these characters? What kind of challenges would she face? What would she go through? Could she get along with them? How would they treat her?

The Kuroshitsuji characters are very unique. They are simultaneously a product of their environment and time period but they all also seem to exist, to-an-extent, outside of it. A lot of them are quite unconventional individuals (not to mention, supernaturals that generally look down on humans), and they don’t all necessarily follow the traditional thinking and values of that era.

But, on the other hand, we have seen them all grapple with and perpetuate some…archaic societal views as well, for our current standards. I just think it could be so interesting for a black character to actually make continued contact with them! Especially a black female character. It could be so cool! There’s so much story potential there and it’s completely unexplored!

So, with all of that being said, I’m actually writing a story right now! It’s 11 chapters in and I’m currently almost done with chapter 12. If you’ve made it this far, I’m more than happy to post a link to it for your enjoyment! And please, please feel free to give feedback. This is my first time writing a story of this magnitude and I am NOT a professional writer. So any and all critiques/compliments are welcome! Just please don’t be mean, I’m really sensitive 😭.

Anywho, as always, this post is way longer than I thought. But would that be something you guys are interested in? I’m also toying with the idea of doing black butler x black!reader headcanons! So if you wanna send me some request based on that premise, please feel free to do so 👀.

I remember coming across FF.net randomly one day years ago. I used to write before that but I have never published it online and just had them as drafts. After that I decided to tiptoe into the world of online fan fics.

🍈 How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

More than 20 years.

🍎 Do you read or write more fanfiction?

Depends on my mood. Recently been reading more than writing, mostly because I have strayed into a new fandom. But when I start to write, I don't read anything to stay focused.

🍌 What is one way you've improved as a writer?

I think the most important improvement is that I have learned ( or at least I hope ) how to use comma and full stop in my writing. Yes, it sounds simple and stupid but my first language's way of using them is absolutely different, so I used to mix up a lot.

🍑 Do you have any bad habits as a writer?

I have absolutely no patience for editing. ( I do it of course and I have lovely betas who help me ) but the way I'm so impatient to post practically is like a toothache. 😭

Long ones because I'm very lazy and also my concentration period is 0 .

I'm generally a angst writer but funnily enough writing humour is way easier for me. 🤣

🍑 Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

I use Google doc, but I always write my sudden ideas in a small notebook I have. I generally am more comfortable with it. So, I have a notebook filled with chicken scratches. xD

🍋What is something you've been too nervous/ intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

Jily. I mean, I have written jilypad and I'm writing jily in my drafts but I'm very nervous about sharing it one day, since getting Lily's character is a bit hard for me. Also, I want to try my hand at Sirius/Bella but writing that supernova explosion needs confidence which I don't have. 😭
