after lyla had signed miguel up for a discord account, much to his frustration, you immediately got a hold of his username (which was really generic, he named himself: 'miguelohara' at first, but lyla changed it up to: 'migolohellnawh') and added him to the spider society's discord server. you made a channel that was dedicated to showing miguel all the stickers and emojis you and the society had made that was just full of memes of miguel. thanks to earth-928's social media, you were all fed with silly stickers and emojis of him for days; you all had a spam channel where hobie and pav would have contests to see whose thumbs could spam more miguel shitpost memes, but that would be a story for another day.

as miguel got notified that he was added to a server, the first thing that caught his eye was the vulgarly named channel of the server: "shitting on miggy". he brought his eyebrows together and tapped on the bold text of the channel's name. he asked what that channel was for, pointing out the name in a disappointed manner as he typed. lyla giggled under her breath as she watched miguel try to act intimidating and angry over text, but his scrunched up face crinkled even more as he saw that the first thing you sent him was a sticker of his stern, stoic face that had the words: "this ugly son of a bitch is fucking super hot chicks and basically you are fucking stupid. how? ...just watch the free video."

miguel had clicked the sticker, and he saw the file name: "singlehotmominyourarea". he huffed as he texted you, asking you what that was that you sent, because he thought it was an actual link to something. he took his reading glasses and, when he could make out what it said, he got angrier than he already was earlier. he told you what you sent was not at all funny, and when you replied that—no, it certainly wasn't... it was very hysterical, though—you sent him a very pink and cutesy sticker of him with cat ears. miguel groaned as lyla took a hundred screenshots remotely from his phone. "where are you even getting these?" he asked you as you kept sending him more shitpost stickers.

"but i don't even like horses." miguel muttered as he saw the "save a horse, ride a cowboy" sticker you sent. "yeah, you're scared of them." lyla reminded him as he rolled his eyes. "no need to remind me." he said as he typed out that he 'hated' (didn't fear, there's a difference, and that is that miguel is fucking lying, he is scared of horses) horses. but of course, you knew his secret, and miguel pounded his fist against the arm of his computer chair. "are you seriously telling them on your end?" he asked lyla as she stuck her tongue out and shrugged, looking all smug as miguel grumbled and told you that he didn't ask for your correction, only for you to send an emoji of your favorite girl dinner: his five course meal ass on display.

"yeah, you need ass correction 'bee cee' this bakery is packed; what...?" he read aloud as lyla groaned. "get with the times, old man." "we don't say stuff like that in 2099 anymore, don't tell me to get with the times." he told his AI assistant as he looked through the emoji catalogue you guys had, and among them all, a colorful one stood out to him and he sent it—hoping you could tell him what was on the emoji, but knowing you, you'd of course mess with him again. you told him the emoji, which was promptly named: "doublecheekedup", meant the very sticker you sent him in response. it was similar to the cat-eared one, but it read: "i <3 my girlfriend", with miguel's angry face in the heart.

miguel looked at it all confused and pulled his reading glasses away from his face and back on to see if he was reading this right. he asked you if he was supposed to be flattered about your sticker, with him immediately following up with his honest opinion; that it was irritating instead of flattering to him. you told him the sticker was more 'sexy' than it was irritating or flattering, and you soon sent him another sticker, where he was diving face first with his legs spread and bottom out. miguel looked at it all baffled and flustered, where were you getting these photos...?

you asked him who he was spreading for, asking if it was you, while sending him an emoji with his back turned to the camera and his ginormous bottom in full view. miguel couldn't make out the text in the emoji and told you the text was too minute for him to read it. he also cleared up that he wasn't intentionally spreading his cheeks for anyone, he had just 'stumbled'. "sure ya did." lyla said as she appeared over miguel's shoulder with a smug grin on her face. "i really didn't, though." miguel said as lyla nodded slowly, her smug grin not leaving her face as miguel saw your next message. "because you wanted to spread your asscheeks for me, i didn't spread for anybody!" he screamed aloud in the confines of his office, pounding his fist on the arm of his computer chair as you sent the girl dinner emoji that was the very profile picture of the spider society's discord server.

miguel was heated in the face and heaving... oh, was there some unspoken feelings he was hiding about your little provocative words? maybe... he might sound like he wants out of the server immediately, but deep in his heart, he'd stay; even if you'd annoy the shit out of him with those damned emojis and stickers. they were irritating, yes, and maybe just the tiniest bit flattering in a twisted way for him. "wow, you're a masochist." lyla pointed out as miguel mumbled for her to shut up, but she was right as always.

More Recent Thoughts and What Not

So, I've been thinking about Lucien a lot lately. I don't hate him, so don't come at me, but sometimes I just feel that there were a couple of reasons why Sarah made him Elain's mate. I'm an Elriel girly for life and nothing and no one but Sarah saying otherwise will convince me that they aren't endgame. That being said, I think that Sarah made him Elain's mate as 1) Elain and Az's "obstacle" and 2) a way for him to stay relevant so she could use him in the overall plot. I mean, think about it. Feysand and Nessian both had these "obstacles" that kept them from getting together right away and Elain's bond with Lucien is a big reason why Az hasn't pursued her or thought more about a future with Elain. Why would he get his hopes up if he doesn't know how Elain truly feels about Lucien? He said himself in the bonus chapter. Elain was more than willing to kiss and perhaps go further and Az said that they had never gone that far. AND HE NEVER ACTUALLY THOUGHT THAT THEIR ALMOST KISS WAS A MISTAKE! HE FORCED HIMSELF TO SAY THAT BECAUSE RHYS WAS THERE AND WAS DEMANDING AZ TO STOP! Anyways, but yeah. And I know that Sarah orginally planned for Lucien and Nesta to get together but instead made Nesta end up with Cassian because of how perfect they were when she first wrote them in a scene together. But she needed a way for Lucien to be relevant to the plot, because let's be honest, I saw no place for Lucien after Feyre chose to stay in the night court. I actually forgot all about him until he showed and tried to take Feyre away. I think she always intended for Lucien to be involved with Vassa, but how would he have known about her if he didn't leave the Spring Court with Feyre because of Elain. Elain was the only reason he left with Feyre. Elain was the only reason Lucien didn't blow Feyre's cover the entire time she was back and I don't think that he would have been as close to her as he was if it weren't for the promise of offically meeting Elain. Even being Helion's son hasn't really done anything for the plot, yet. Do you guys see where I'm going with this? I don't know. LOL. The Eluciens might think I'm crazy!

And I want to say that Elain does not owe Lucien anything. Her silence is an answer in itself. I mean, she was about to kiss Az and do God knows what else with him in foyer of the river house while Lucien slept upstairs. She just doesn't care or doesn't care enough to consider him in moments like that. Clearly, time away from him does not affect her and he seems to be just fine away from her as well. Yes, he's being respectful by not pressuring her, but he can also take a hint. I don't think she'd be offended if he never got her a gift again until they both make the decision to accept the bond. And I don't see that happening. I just don't.

It's also suspicious how their bond was instantly recognized. Like feysand and nessian's bond took time to snap but Lucien instantly knew? And why can Az smell it and no one else can? Amren smelled feysand's but she's different and no body else could smell it until they accepted it. Elain and Lucien have not accepted it so what's going on there? Eluciens and gwynriels can call us crazy all they want to but we have legit questions. I still stand by my opinion about how Az acts more like Elain's mate than Lucien does.

Also, can I just say how much I hate all the hate the inner circle is getting on tik tok? Like, I'm sorry. I know we are all entitled to our own opinions but if you hate Feyre and Rhys so much that you create a 10 page slide show about how much they need to die and how horrible they are, then you don't deserve the series anymore. Why are you still reading it? Sarah has stated that Rhys is her favorite and feysand will always be the center of everything so they aren't going anywhere.

Same goes for all the Nesta and Cassian hate. Like wtf? NO. I will absolutely not put up with hate for either one of them for any reason. They are my favorite couple, like more than elriel and that's saying something. I waited years for their book and I am absolutely disgusted that people want her to break her bond and get with ERIS?! That is an insult to Cassian.

Let's see. What else? During my reread of Silver Flames, I realized that all the signs of Gwyn being a lightsinger or having some type of power are there from the moment we meet her. Both Nesta and Az and his shadows all react to her powers, which involve singing and music in some way. I noticed that she is always singing, too. I get the feeling that most of Gwyn's arc was not only proving to herself, but to everyone around her, that she's strong and capable. I think Az triggered something in her and she wanted to prove to him that she's not that girl that he saved anymore. You know? Also, when Nesta described her smile, it was said "Nesta couldn't explain the way she sensed that there was something else mixed into her. Some secret beneath that pretty face." This reminded me of the infamous quote of Az thinking of Gwyn's smile "a thing of secret, lovely beauty." Why are they associating secrets with Gwyn? I have so many questions and I need Sarah to explain ASAP. Like legit questions, someone explain it to me.

The Dragon Prince: Pre-Season 6 Thoughts.

(Post finishing my 3rd full watch-through)

It was SUPER weird going from S4-5 Viren back to S1-3 Viren. I think it’s amazing how- like, they didn’t really redeem him? Cause he CANT be redeemed, but they still- Showed us who he was underneath the corruption and- Really emphasised how much of Viren’s villainousness was DUE to Dark Magic corruption which just- And how much he did out of love. (CoughCallumCough) Is terrifying when you think of the other two characters that have ties to it…

Viren turning to dark magic to save his son. “Whatever it takes: however dangerous, however vile.” But then: choosing dark magic OVER his son. Being careless with Soren’s feelings and very life. Telling Claudia to choose the egg over Soren, almost turning Soren into a sunbeast, gaslighting him, etc…

It appears that he first saw the Mirror in his first “dark magic coma,” with his future self on the other side of it. Explaining again why he became so obsessed with the Mirror when he saw it- The fact that S5 Viren would agree with Runaan’s warning: “that mirror? You have found something worse than death-“ Kinda mindblowing.

I have and will always be on the “Viren is an irredeemable bitch” train but- I didn’t expect it to hurt so much when I got back to Season-4-him coming to terms with mortality and just wanting to spend the next 30 days enjoying life with his daughter like- It seemed so deeply unserious and out of left-field when I first watched it, but, post Season 5- Wow, it actually hurts?

His relationship with Terry was actually really sweet? And Terry really helped him unpack so much of the Toxic Masculinity in him… as a certified Viren hater, it’s disturbing how much of this is about him- I always thought the crew spent too much time with him but- He is actually such an amazing foil?

Once again: Harrow is the bird, (Pip), confirmed. Ghost Harrow standing over Viren with the staff saying “your soul is my treasure” in reverse, turning Viren into a Coin? With Pip right behind him for “no other reason?” Also, new theory but: I think this also might be pointing to how the star spell Callum will use, with the Quazar Diamonds, to “restore spirits to their bodies.” Will not only be able to save Rayla’s family, but potentially King Harrow as well…. (Harrow has been on an Oppa bird-side-quest journey this entire time, mark my words: one does not simply emphasise bird and then let bird escape so he is “conveniently” never in the same room as the only known animal speaker, King Ezran, ever again).

Umm, something I noticed that I actually hope is just thematic and is not an important observation but: Callum has learned/connected with both of his Arcanum DIRECTLY after having used Dark Magic… (Also after doing so to save Rayla, but yeah-) And Dark Magic appears to have been something cultivated by Aaravos? Oh great master of all six primal sources?Basically, I’m hoping that it is just thematic and showing triumph over evil! Of choosing your own path! But… there is a non-zero chance that Callum might ONLY have made these connections BECAUSE he used dark magic and- (Don’t let it be so, please- I love Mage Callum, he loves magic why- /scared) It’ll take three to make a solid pattern just- don’t make it three for three, please-

Aaravos is basically whispering in Karim’s ear, via the old high mage that his caterpillar (son) bit, isn’t he? Meaning he’s being manipulated by the person who killed his sister, destroyed Lux Aurea and swallowed his grandmother. And hence Sol Regrem is, too, being manipulated, through Karim, by the person who GAVE humans dark magic, gave them the wizard staff and LEGIT took his eyes- It is LITERALLY the end of S3 again- Karim in Viren’s place. Aaravos, master warmonger-

Rayla to Callum, finally opening up about the coins: “there’s a burden I’m carrying, but I know I can trust you with it.” To trust is to be stronger. If we’re gonna do it, we’re going do it. Together. Meanwhile: Callum carrying the burden of using dark magic alone. And I’m not even sure if he’s TOLD anyone that the cube is called the @Key of Aaravos!” He tried to destroy it but- he couldn’t and- (This is gonnna FUCKING HURT I-)

Another small observation, but to the Earth Archdragon in S4, Callum offered the least valuable item as a gift when- I’m pretty sure if he offered the Key of Aaravos, it would have been enough on its own and really gotten the ball rolling too? Would it have been smart to give it up? Unclear. But that thing is also a potential danger and-

Claudia… oh Claudia… I dunno what it is, but the fact she is so “committed to her family,” but at the same time… they are still alive. As far as we know, her mother is still alive in Del Bar. Soren is still there, and even tries to reconnect with her in Season 4. The only one who’s dying is Viren, but all Viren wants is to spend his last month with his daughter in peace and-Oh Claudia

Extra: I bought and read the graphic novels for a fuller experience, and found them quite interesting:

Callum was going to go off with Rayla on her search for Viren. And she accepted as a lie, before sneaking off in the night. Ouch.

It’s not explicitly stated, but it appears Rayla developed her fear of water from when she almost drowned on the Harvest Moon, as a child, after a run in with the Bloodmoon Huntress. She was alone and pushed off a cliff/waterfall into a lagoon where she was too weak/young to save herself and Runaan had to miraculously appear and save her. We see her carelessly dangling on a log over a stream before this scene, with seemingly no fear. And she also hasn’t interacted with the Bloodmoon Huntress yet, as of Season 5: literally JUST missed her but, I wonder if it’ll come back? 🤔

The third graphic novel takes place before Ezran was born and follows Claudia (and Soren) searching Viren’s old mentors house. It is very much a kids book, but one with very sinister undertones. We learn two things of interest: 1). The timeline of events are as follows: “Soren got deathly ill, Viren’s old mentor ‘mysteriously disappeared,’ Soren got better, Viren and his wife started fighting, wife left-“ Which, I’m- well. That’s fun? Also: the King, Harrow’s father, comforts Viren and asks how he’s doing and how the search for his mentor goes which- well then. 👀 2). The story ends with Claudia obtaining a map to a Unicorn, a map that only she can read because she is… “pure of heart” which- is such a standard, happy ending to a kids book until you realise… what she did… once she found that Unicorn… and then what its horn went on to do…

This show is too well written for the tiny fan base it has. If it sticks the landing, like I think it will? Cult classic on our hands people. Again, I’m just pissed about the depth they brought to the show with Viren: how he was a COMPLETELY different person in Part 1 vs Part 2. How that is terrifying not because we love HIM as a character, but because of how much we love Claudia and Callum… How they made me, a Viren Hater, sad that he died? Because his death was a tragedy? Not because he died, but because he died BEFORE he could warn Claudia not to go down this path. HIS path. That he didn’t want this for her- That she could still stop-

Okay no I want to talk about yasopp being a straight up hater. Like he hated him the minute he saw Sanji. Watching him falling over himself and fumbling like a fool around Robin and nami. In front of him and Usopp, judging from usopp's non reaction It seemed pretty normal which is not okay for him (that's his only legit criticism has has against sanji) . He despises him and now he's just finding other reasons to hate this man.

Smoking inside? Unacceptable. smoking in general? deplorable. Even though his crew smoke inside, it's not okay for him to do it. He doesn't like how he fawns over women he doesn't like how he fawns over usopp either watching him get handsy with usopp, don't grab them like that!. They're not a piece of meat!

Sanji made him one of his famous dishes. Obviously sanji was well aware that this man did not like him and he didn't want him seeing usopp, so he tried his best to impress him with cooking.

The duck breast was dry, the potatoes were undercooked and the arugula was wilting. This is what he feeds his son? No, hell no. No you're not good enough for him. He will never be good enough for his child.

Every time Yasopp comes over It is always in bad faith. He always tries to look for a fight, just wanting to prove that he is not a good partner for usopp. He doesn't even address him directly or refer to him by his name he calls Sanji 'him' and 'your boyfriend'

During one family visit Usopp tried their best to ease the tension between them but it just ends in them fighting with each other. Yasopp may have or may not have pulled a gun on sanji after a slide remark about him leaving his wife and kid. Sanji isn't too bothered, he realized he can never gonna satisfy this man so there's no use. He tries to keep Usopp happy that's all he can do. He just looked on as his partner argued with their father over the dinner table. zeff is there too, he doesn't get involved sanji is a big boy now, he can handle himself. Not the first time he's had a gun to his face, If he's not fazed by yasopp then there's probably no real threat.

Zeff adores Usopp. What a charmer with a very bright and sunny personality. Seeing how they look at him, leans against him and holds him in his arms. He can tell Usopp has a lot of love and they're giving it all sanji. How a sweet person descended from yasopp will always confuse him.

Because it's my thoughts on this topic, basically!! Got a similar ask last month about it. But yeah, I agree completely with you. I think Yasopp would hate Sanji's guts. And Zeff loving Usopp??? Ursa in the comic and Ursa in the show are two different people. Seriously show Ursa legit went lol with her kids at a city burning. Not to mention comic Ursa comes off as really stupid because she legit endangered herself, Ozai and Zuko by writing about Ikemi being Zuko's dad because of Azulon found that shit they'd all be fucked. She's lucky Ozai found that shit because if Azulon had, they would all be on the hot seat.

I think they wanted to do something with Ursa but original characterization made it difficult so they just scrapped it in favor of this weird love triangle.

My thoughts on this horrible and horrendous comic: The Search that butcher Ozai & Ursa’s complex characterization along with the Urzai relationship. Even besides destroying my favorite ship, this comic had very piss poor writing and ludicrous decisions!

Zuko mentions that Ozai and Ursa along with their family used to be happy, and we saw that in Zuko's flashbacks. Yang, just decided to make Ursa a victim because in his mind: URSA WOMAN, OZAI BAD MAN, SHE MUST BE HELD, HOSTAGE!!! While Ozai and Ursa arrange marriage does make sense and was confirmed by the creators. It doesn't mean that Ozai and Ursa's relationship was ALWAYS BAD, or SHE WAS KIDNAPPED! Plus, the Urzai relationship is quite normal in the antiquity of Asian societies that the Fire Nation is based on aka Shogunates of Japan and Imperial Chinese Dynasties!!!

Ozai HIMSELF stated in the comics that he tried to be a good father to Zuko and Azula during their young childhood which is canon to flashbacks that Zuko has in the show. Zuko HIMSELF also stated that Ozai tried to be a good father to him and Azula. WHICH ALSO EXPLAINED WHY ZUKO TRIED SO DESPERATELY TO GET BACK IN HIS FATHER'S GOOD GRACE AGAIN AND REGAIN HIS FATHER'S LOVE!

So, in conclusion, Ozai did love and care for Ursa, Zuko, and Azula. Despite, according to the comics he was ALSO FORCED into an eugenics experiment with the granddaughter of his grandfather's old rival and friend. On the orders of his father Fire Lord Azulon and the wishes of the Fire Sages.

People love to give Ursa a pass on how she treated Azula because she was forced into marrying Ozai [which doesn't make sense considering Zuko is also Ozai's child just like Azula] because of Fire Lord Azulon power politically and socially. So, I guess Ozai is justified in how he treated Ursa, Zuko, and Azula simply because Azulon wanted Ursa to be his son's broodmare and for Ozai to train his children to be ruthless powerful fighting soldiers aka human weapons and loyal slaves to him (Azulon) and later Iroh and Lu Ten when they become Fire Lord? According to the logic of Ursa-stans and Ozai & Azula bashers, Ozai simply raised his children how he has been ordered to do and had absolutely NO REASON love and care for them.

Therefore, I get angry when so-called fans and Ursa-stan claimed that Azula had NO RIGHT to be loved and cared for by her own mother Ursa and that her neglectful treatment of Azula is justified because of Ozai's abuse. They like to claim that since Azula is a "rape baby" that Ursa did more than necessary for her daughter, and she has no responsibility to care for her daughter who is becoming more like her abusive husband.

First, canonically Azula IS NOT a rape baby, would you consider Zuko a rape baby then? And if he is, then why is Ursa so fond of Zuko than Azula or makes more of an effort to connect and help Zuko emotionally compared to Azula?

Second, even IF Azula is a rape baby, it is still not justifiable to treat that child horribly because of the action of its father, grandfather, and fire sages. Azula had no choice in being born the daughter of Ozai and Ursa or had a hand in the circumstances of their relationship!

Ozai's harshness and ruthlessness regarding Zuko have nothing to do with Ursa or Ikem's forbidden love! Ozai wants Zuko and Azula to both prove themselves. Ozai doesn't favor Zuko or Azula. It is about which child will succeed Sozin, Azulon, and his legacy as future Fire Lord. In fact, Ozai doesn't want Zuko or Azula to think that they are the “favorite” child. He wants Azula and Zuko to improve through competition. Because of the “only the greatest of pressures can forge diamonds” & “steel sharpen steel” mentality. Ozai has the mentality of an imperialist warlord. Ozai isn't trying to be the world's most loving and caring father but rather continue and build upon a powerful and dominant legacy that his forefathers had created before him. He wants Zuko & Azula to be cold, ruthless, heartless, vicious, and brutal imperialistic warmongers like him (Ozai), his father (Azulon), and his grandfather (Sozin).

Ozai's distaste and despisement of Zuko have NOTHING to do with Ursa and Ozai's arguments in ATLA show canon even in the Comics. Ozai was simply saying that to hurt Ursa's feelings and gaslight her over bullshit letters. Ozai views Zuko as a disappointment of a son, firebender, and prince. His skills in Firebending are pathetic compared to his sister's and his morality from his mother and later uncle is out of line with Ozai and mainstream Fire Nation Elite Imperialists. If Zuko was a ruthless and cold-blooded killer like Azula and was at least just as good as his YOUNGER sister, then Ozai would NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEM with Zuko as his son and heir! Zuko represents everything that Ozai was raised to hate and resent; compassion, morality, mercy, weakness, etc. Ozai hates his son for incompetence as a firebending warrior which is antithetical to Ozai as the strongest firebender in the series along with him being an Agni Kai champion along with the morality and softness that Ursa and later Iroh fostered in Zuko. The fact that Zuko doesn't conform to their society's warrior culture and morality bothers his father since Ozai was likely forced to conform since his own childhood under his father Azulon’s reign. Ozai probably resents that Zuko has his mother and uncle's affection whereas Ozai as a child probably didn't have his mother, Ilah's love to protect and care for him from Azulon's wrath due to her death in childbirth. Iroh got to experience his mother's love and presence along with his father's respect during his childhood, something that Ozai never had. Ozai resents his first-born Zuko son and relates far more with his second-born daughter Azula who is neglected like him.

I believe that Ozai and Ursa have a long loving, complex, and complicated relationship. Ozai’s imperialistic ambition and brainwashing along with paternal abuse by Azulon made him extremely emotionally damaged and unstable. Iroh had Ilah and Zuko had Ursa and later on Iroh to help love and guide them. Ozai probably only had abusive Azulon and neglectful Iroh; who both probably hate him due to Fire Lady Ilah’s death in childbirth.

PLUS, ACCORDING TO THE ORIGINAL WRITERS AND NOT THE SHITTY YANG COMICS, OZAI AND URSA HAD A GOOD EARLY RELATIONSHIP WHICH THE SEEDS OF WERE SHOWN IN THE SHOW!

The Apothecary Diaries Episode 19 Review - Interconnected Cases

I sure didn’t expect some of the past cases to be part of an overarching conspiracy plot in attempt to assassinate Jinshi. The writing went pretty creative with this because I certainly didn’t think they were all interconnected. All I got from this is that Suirei, the tall girl Maomao often talks to, could be orchestrating it.

The Kounen case back in Episode 9, the sudden warehouse arson case in Episode 14, the seaweed poisoning case in Episode 15 and the welder family puzzle mystery case back in Episode 16 are all connected. Who knew? I sure didn’t. Apparently, the people involved in these cases were all tied to ceremonial aspects. Kounen was an official in charge of the ceremonial stuff but got assassinated. The warehouse was to steal tools. The seaweed poisoning case was also to silence another official and the welder case was so that it would take them a while to get new tools. It was all an overarching conspiracy theory. Maomao was on the dot, except for who was the target as she still doesn’t know that Jinshi is the Emperor’s younger brother/son. It would make sense that there would be a huge target on his back, but Maomao wouldn’t know that. In the midst of this all, she did figure out that Suirei could be a part of this assassination.

The whole scene of Maomao running towards the altar and then getting stopped by the guard was shocking. I did NOT expect him to throw his club at her and for her to get hit. I was eating lunch while watching that scene and I legit stopped chewing my food when I saw this. Man, this show can be ruthless. It hurt seeing Maomao having such a swollen face. She was able to pass through thanks to Lakan, unfortunately for her.

The way Maomao saved Jinshi was awesome, but it was also hilarious because her response to seeing him was “Can I have the ox bezoar now?” She has her priorities. Anyways, the last few minutes of the episode was Jinshi carrying Maomao bridal style and it reminded me a lot of the finale of the first Tokyo Ghoul anime where Kaneki was carrying Hide bridal style and music started playing as he kept walking.

Before the suspenseful stuff, there were comedic scenes that I liked like Jinshi getting jealous over Lihaku and Maomao getting excited over the ox bezoar. Other than that, I think the latter half of the episode was memorable as this was the first time Maomao was legit being active in trying to stop a murder in the palace. In fact, this murder didn’t even involve poison; it was a full on assassination attempt. Suirei is gonna have some explaining to do if Maomao ever confronts her. What are your thoughts on this?

Here is my theory regarding who is in charge of illegally selling dinosaurs: Daniel Kon. I know Kenji and Darius saw him get eaten but I think it was faked. I wonder if the kids were being targeted as a way to force Kenji to see his dad. Then his dad had 2 plans. Plan 1: get Kenji to be his new CEO so Daniel could have a new business but with someone more legit “in charge”. It was going the way Daniel wanted but then Kenji changed his mind. He refused to be his dad’s puppet again. Which is right when the aloraptors attacked. And for the first time the Whistle Lady didn’t hide and send in her raptors. No she stood there and kept whistling commands. Which she didn’t need to do before because it was just kill. This moment needed constant monitoring and different commands to be sent out. She even gave a whistle to not harm Daniel when they were being attacked. All Daniel needed were some packets of fake blood, raptors play “eating” him and some screaming. As soon as Darius and Kenji realized there was nothing they could do, they had to keep running and didn’t have time to see anything beyond the blood everywhere. At first I did think that Daniel was eaten but I also thought it was weird that Mr. master manipulator, won’t check out a distress beacon that could be my kid, leave my child on an island to die in an exploding island actually cared that it his son was leaving. But now I think it was a manipulative tactic to get the boys to stay long enough to see the act. And now Daniel can leave without anyone looking for a body. Then at the end of the season when Whistle Lady said that the boss didn’t like lose ends it hit me that Daniel must be the boss. Because who do we know that has said on multiple occasions that he doesn’t like loose ends? I think this was a clue as to who is actually behind everything.

My Adventures with Lois-Chan season 2 (I see what they're trying to do with Kara Snore-El, the question is how far are they going to take it? And will they commit or just play it safe despite how serious the topic is?)

They're trying to pull a X-23/Cassie Cain/Iron-Giant/ Son of Darkseid with this one.

First glance it looks like promise, but what's going to make or break this decision is what they do after the fact.

What exactly are you going to do with the fact that she's committed genocide?

And it's very unlikely Brainiac wouldn't just mindwipe her entirely, so that obedience mode she enters isn't a mode, it's her default state.

Why would he even allow her to keep anything close to a personality, that already doesn't make any sense as it didn't make sense when Supes got brainwashed in Legacy arc in TAS.

But this is Brainiac we're talking about, if anyone has a method to wipe a persons mind clean it's him.

See if they just have her become the usual stock Supertoken/supergirl, cape & all and just go about the script per canon usual then the backstory setup was a total waste and only served to just be edge bait, jangling keys and nothing more. Another waste of potential for this sinkhole of a character.

Now her wanting to be a hero would be a semi-sensible way for her to attempt to "do good" to make up for the wrongs buuuuut this is genocide, saving a cat out of a tree or putting away the same 3 villains isn't going to even begin to make up for that shit.

So I sincerely doubt whatever they do after this is going to be anything close to an appropriate direction for what she did.

See with that said- there's already brewing problems with this. And when I first saw it, I thought "Hm, okay, there's potential here."

Mainly because of how she reacted to the truth, which is the point of her emoting, to make you sympathize.

Sidenote: I can't stand Kara as a concept, I make ZERO attempts to hide that, and yes they did the bullshit cousin thing which annoys the shit out of me but they can still do something halfway decent here even if it's mid per the show's usual standard of writing.

Furthermore, even if the execution is shit, i'll give the writers some credit here for introducing her with an (albeit lazy) attempt to make her somewhat interesting though (basically Young Justice S4 all over again), the best way they can give her intrigue is make her "evil" seemingly (always some mind control or conditioning, she's never bad by choice, which defeats the possibility of her being interesting or engaging) and then turn her into an accessory after she is eventually/inevitably turned to the good side.

I don't see why DC is so afraid of making Kara a legit Superman villain or taking risks with this character who desperately needs an overhaul.

Top 5 baddies, calculating, in charge, with a purpose. There's nothing wrong with that, why the fuck does she always have to be a good guy, when the world already has a SUPERMAN? That question never gets brought up more.

When all that happens when she's good is she gets shrouded in the shadow of Superman anyway because despite the attempts of so many writers, she does not possess the impact, themes or narrative/symbolic legitimacy, she literally just exists.

And unlike Batman who can have many protege, Superman's hook initially was being the last Krytonian. So not only does her existence null the impact of Kal's survival in the first place but the world doesn't need two Super-people, it's just redundant.

The only reason why Conner gets a pass is he's the clone gene-baby of Lex and Supes, thus nowhere near as powerful. And the fact that he's not native to Krypton doesn't in any way negate the impact of Kal's survival narrative.

And the storytelling potential of being both Lex and Superman is a goldmine.

From SB-Prime to Conner, they keep giving the better origins and stories to the male Kryptonians, and DC refuses to shake the formula.

Make that shit make sense to me.

Back on the show, they really shouldn't have made her his cousin, again.

That takes so much agency from her when her stake in the story is being Superman's cousin like the canon, and not just a Kryptonian with her own stake that somehow survived or say she was off on an independent scouting mission as a researcher boom, Argo gone.

And she has her own name. Still a knockoff, still trivializes the original point of Kal's survival but that's an improvement.

It's why Kara In-Ze is a slight improvement that people don't appreciate enough. Though there wasn't enough done with her too.

(Yes, I'm complaining there wasn't enough Supergirl in the DCAU, and I'm the guy that hates Supertoken. BUT to be fair, her lore in the DCAU Timm-verse comics more than makes up for it, so it balances out but her NOT being in JL vs Fatal Five? Unforgiveable)

Overall, the miraculous surviving cousin trope is bad fanfic and again it trivializes Clark surviving at all, hence why I hate Kara's existence. But PLEASE stop using the cousin schtick, allow Kara to stand on her own two goddamn feet for once.

yet again my gripe specific to this show is I don’t think these writers are thinking this through. The one time they take advantage of the “Adult” in the Adult Swim and they overshot their shot with genocide.

I thought: "Oh? This might have potential for this version of the character."

But then I thought, "Wait minute, they're not going to revert her to a normal status quo & put her little ass in a cape and hero suit after showing her doing that shit are they? (though tbh they didn't show her do anything, it's adult swim and they pussied out of showing her actually doing the deed)

-How the fuck is she going to integrate, when she's technically an intergalactic war criminal?"

Now if you gave her legal immunity or some kind of galactic supervision fine, but one of the only legitimate ways to set that up is if Superman asked John or Hal to put in a word or pull strings with the Guardians but a seasoned Justice League (where that possibility would make sense) doesn't even exist- so that prospect is completely null.

See this is what happens when you don't think this shit through, and unfortunately this doesn't get the excuse of being a "kids" show, and it really should be because it's written like one, just not as good as better kids shows.

Because despite My Adventures clearly being written for 13 year old girls/Shoujo fans going through their shipper phase, this tripe is actually on adult swim- for some reason.

(ATLA is also leagues more mature in writing)

Point being: Just edgy backstory is setup, set up can create intrigue but what makes one interesting is what exactly do you do with it, where you take that is what makes a character, that's the ONLY reason why Zuko works as a character, it's the ONLY reason why MCU Tony Stark isn't the worst character in the MCU, somehow.

She better have some serious issues from this beyond just curling up in space with the pouty sad anime girl face, mid.

Don't want her to look too ugly with her bawling her eyes out, snot & shit, because you know-

And then by sheer fucking luck Lois-Chan and James just HAPPENED to TP in front of her, are you fucking serious? LMFAO, that's amateur webcomic levels of convenient and that's coming from me.

So not only can't we nor the girl meditate on the previous revelation for a goddamn second and see her deal with it for two minutes alone, and let the mood settle.

You wanted Kara here, just like I predicted since Season 1 Episode fucking 2 (Because DC/WB can't get over their Kara boner and neglect to give other better lady characters in DC time to breathe *cough cough, where's Starfire's Show? Headass!??!)

Well now she's here, now do something with her or keep doing what you've been doing and just set her up...aaand then she crashes and burns into obscurity. Like she's been doing for the a past 30+ years.

I'd settle for her not becoming a "Superhero" and living her own life figuring how to cope with what she did, saving people on the side.

Or? For a better take if we skip tween shit and just debut her as a grownass woman like Smallville did to an extent.

Be like Victoria or Valora-El and have her be a Supe in a position of infrastructural status where she can make another brand of difference that isn't just sloppy seconds of what Superman is already doing. ie. Being a redundant character in deed and name.

Anything less or to the contrary is cop-out, and yet another example waste of potential, which is a classic fate for Supergirl.

If she killed a few people, okay still bad, but it's doable, but multiple GENOCIDE?

I repeat: MULTIPLE GENOCIDE?!

And yes, I have pitched many times to make her dark, but that was the make her Superman villain permanently, clearly that isn't their agenda here.

The difference is, I would've had her be a recurring Top 5 Superman foe. Not some superpowered "uwu kawaii" girl next door gimmick who's stake in the fandom is exactly that or being a female superman DLC vs her actually being taken seriously for once in her history.

See she has stans, she has fans, she has cool moments (MOMENTS, keyword) but does anyone truly take her seriously? But she gets all this goddamn push.

One can try to argue that her having memories of Krypton makes her pain & anger stemming from that sort of interesting, not really-

her concept is the same as Superboy-Prime's origin but for her: without everything that made him iconic- his mental issues, his very real, very realistic ramification of a teenager losing too much, too soon all at once. Intrigue, something was actually done with the fact that he was traumatized, and it wasn't backtracked, it was expanded upon for better and worse.

And in the end, bro saved everyone, and I mean EVERYONE. And nobody will EVER know it was him- why? Because he doesn't deserve the glory, but he was owed a chance to live the life he had before it was snatched from him.

He didn't deserve happiness after what he did, but he finally did right and was rewarded happiness.

That's the kind of shit that deserves to be in a show.

And he was manipulated on top of that, sort of like Kara is manipulated by Brainy here.

But it's likely not going to lead anywhere beyond her siding with Clark-Kun and beating Brainiac, saturday morning kidz cartoon shit.

Point being: People like her profile because she looks appealing, a concept of a female superman, female Kryptonian is a nice thought. Female, that's the gimmick.

She's always had potential, but it's always played safe or backtracked. Now we have her being a genocide puppet, which is a nice set up but the likely outcome is they'll sweep it or go the usual Sueprgirl route despite what she did.

I sincerely hope they do NOT do that, that is the wrong move.

A lot of people (including me sometimes) don't truly understand the gravity of genocide when they want to use it for a character's narrative, it makes for a good hook I get it-especially when the character regrets it or is a villain like Omni-Man.

Or as a premise.

But a lot of writers don't want to commit to how big a deal that shit is in ramifications but want to flaunt it just for the sake of tugging heart strings when the character gets in their feels over it.

My charge is specifically: What are the ramifications for the character's humanity, their mental state, them as a person, how they view themselves, will she want to end her own life over this?

That's the kind of shit i'm talking that would make her leagues beyond in depth over the majority of her other variants (including her canon) in terms of depth, beyond the female superman gimmick, beyond the nepotism factor that Kara owes her entire career to.

But again I doubt they have the balls to go that far, even though that's exactly what they NEED to do given this is a situation involving a one-woman genocide.

That's why Invincible Season 1 Episode 8 is so good, EP3 was more of a spectacle we didn't think too much of Nolan wiping out that planet but when it happened to Earth, seeing that mother & daughter die, you feel that shit. It makes you feel how serious that shit is. When you watch reactions to the episode, people physically cringe are distraught by it. GOOD, that's the right way to present it, because it's not a joke.

My Adventures with Kara-Chan Reads like a "look, aren't they so tortured? Are you sympathizing with the cute girl yet?", nah man. You need to do a lot more than just show her cringing with "shocked anime girl" face:

(That's what she looked like, like she sent her term paper to the wrong email address "Nooooo, i couldn't, i don't remember", Wow i'm really choked up about this along with you sister. Such a stale performance, Iron Giant showed more emotion when he thought Hogarth died.)

How the fuck you get out acted/Emotioned by a goddamn Robot who managed to cry without shedding a tear.

Again, WB feels the absolute need to push this underwhelming nothing character over and over again just for her to meet the same brick wall because the general demo? Contrary to popular belief, doesn't give a shit about Supertoken.

She works in concept, but she has zero staying power.

Most people like her because she's an aesthetic, a gimmick, a checked box, like Mid-Morales. They look nice on paper, they're a nice thought, they look great on design sheets. What they represent vs not what they are. Most People like what they are, than who they are. Not all, most.

But this attempt at Kara? Depending on what they do as of post Season 2 EP6, even if the aftermath is mid (and it likely will be mid) at least do something dynamic or risky with that set up, just tragic backstory isn't enough.

Fact is, to wipe out that many people?

Writers better deliver on that shit & make her 2% the interesting/ complex character Azula was in terms of issues, or Guts.

Because they're doing this cutesy anime shit, the same shit they've done with Lois but with Kara it's the strict tsundere who's not privy to norms schtick.

So basically Starfire just more "hmph" frowny faces, it's so goddamn annoying how hard they're trying with this anime aesthetic bullshit but not trying hard enough with literally everywhere else that matters.

It's amazing that that's the main thing that's consistent since Season 1 lmfao.

Not holding my breath, but we'll see where they go with this latest attempt with Kara Bore-El.

Sidenote: Reiner wasn't handled the best overall but him developing lite Schizophrenic symptoms out of guilt due to the many friends he betrayed to accomplish his mission was actually a sound decision, one of best in the story because that's actually doing something with the guilt, now did Isayama commit to taking it to a fine conclusion, ofc not, but that was a good direction to go in that wasn't expected. I'll praise that much.

That wouldn’t be a bad direction for this version of Kara Bore-El, a believable ramification.

They should’ve made her into a villain instead

Instead of the lazy as fuck “oh it wasn’t her fault, brainwashed victim” excuse, which is just having your cake and eating it too. Taking 100% agency from her but you get to show her doing evil stuff, that’s convenient.

At least with her choosing to be a villain- this way she has some agency in this genocide situation and the writers would have dodged a bullet.

Why? They wouldn’t have to justify anything as much in terms of trauma if she chose to be a genocidal overlord to begin with. Boom.

There's a better conflict, and Super-Kun would have a legitimate enemy.

But they’re trying to paint her as a victim via brainwashing, so now they just made more work for themselves and they’re not off to a good start with addressing it, because her reaction was so lackluster.

This show since the beginning has been nothing but half-assed, it’s the one thing that’s consistent about it: The mid.

But at the very least, the show means well. That's the best thing I can say about it even now, it's garbage but it means well.

YJ Season 4 Arc Rankings Part 2

#3-Raquel’s Arc

I was curious how they were gonna do Rocket’s Arc since we don’t know as much about her versus the others so it kinda made senses that her arc focused on the overall plot with revealing the main villain as Lor-Zod and the alliance between the Justice League, Green Lantern Core, and New Genesis. So the main development we got from her was between her and her son as she learns to handle his autism. As well as her working with Orion and seeing how he process emotion and trying to understand him better. Love getting to see Razor get his cool Red/Blue Lantern armor and his Luscious Locks. Seeing him on YJ made me go watch the Green Lantern series just because he thought he was hot and I just wanted to know more about him. I like the little villain trio we got with Mantis, M’comm, and Lor-Zod, you can just tell they all hate each other. Shout out to Mantis to carrying the team the last bit and finding the phantom projector just out of spite because Lor-Zod thought he couldn’t do shit. Loved that our heroes actually got to fight the main villian of the season it really did help move the plot along. Very sad we lost Tomar-Re but was not expecting female forger to get his ring but I got pretty hyped from that. 

Rocket gets a 7/10

#2-Dick’s Arc

Let’s be real here this wasn’t really Nightwing’s Arc this was just the ending Arc. Dick got the first ep to flex his detective skills, connecting the dots to stuff we as the viewer already knew while everyone else looked at him like he was crazy. After that the show was like “Okay baby everyone knows who you are, step aside so we can connect the rest of these plots. I was pretty surprised by how easy it was for our heroes to get into the phantom, the harder part for sure was just trying to get Conor to come out. Definitely felt some jealousy from Lor-Zod when he saw his dad took Conor under his wing even though he was still gonna manipulate him. Switching gears to I think the Legion of Superheroes should think about giving Phanton girl a bell to communicate with because every time she opened her mouth she just caused more problems. I’m not trying to hate on the girl but she was asleep for more than half the season so she’s a little behind. It was really intreating not having the light be involved in the big final battle but shit those rough kryptonians worked fast, they were on earth for like 20 mins and there this close to killing superman. But of course everything worked out for our heroes with defeating the Zods and Conor remembering who he is. Seeing Icicle Jr at SuperMartian’s wedding legit brought tears to my eye because I was so happy he was invited. 

Dick gets a 8/10

#1- Conor and M’gann’s Arc

This was also pretty close between Dick’s arc and Conor and M’gann’s arc but conor and M’gann’s arc actually forces on it’s main characters and sets up the main plot for the whole season so it gets the top spot. Idk if it was just the fact that it was more then 2 years since I got to see some new YJ but I was just so happy to see our beloved characters back again. I love getting to see and learn about Mars and meeting M’gann parent and her little sister.  J’onn what’s your address again cause I gotta make sure you get your best uncle award for how you defended your nieces. Reliving the childhood between the M’orzz siblings was very emotional and the line of “I was just a child” I think really encapsulate what young justice is. Young heroes taking on burdens that is well beyond their years with this burden being racism. I thought the murder mystery was also clever with it taking place on a planet of telepaths but yet no one knows who did it. You can kinda tell that Conor wasn’t gonna stay dead with him being killed off in ep 4 of 26 but still not see him come back up from the hole was still heartbreaking. And to who ever idea it was to have the end credits just be M’gann sobbing at the foot of the alter they were support to be married at the next day, You are a foul foul person. 

Conor and M’gann gets a 8.5/10

Alright so here’s a little bit more info about my Mega man and Astro boy AU thing since I didn’t really go into to much detail about it in my first post talking about it

So after Dr. Light’s first robo son left him (Protoman) he started to become really fucking depressed. And started to question if he should even continue with his robot science stuff considering his first ever human like robot was an complete and utter disaster. He thought that even a beginner scientist in robotics couldn’t make such an awful mistake with there creations like he did.

That is, until one day. Dr Light was watching the morning news as usual, when a particularly story caught his eye.

A story about a little robot child with red boots and weird hair saving the city from a terrible disaster with his ability to fly from the rockets on his boots and being freakishly strong for a robot so small. It was incredible!

And seeing this gave Dr. Light the inspiration he needed to begin building robots again.

He created another robot boy, this time around the same age as the robot he saw on the news (he legit just guessed what age range they where in lmao) and with some of the same personality traits as them to, but also giving him a lot of different personality traits so that he would still be unique.

And learning from his passed mistakes with blues, he also created a sibling for the robot boy so they wouldn’t feel alone

And that’s the first part of the AU! I hope you enjoyed listening to me ramble lmao

Welp, it seems every other Disnerd (and even non-Disnerds!) is making posts about Once Upon a Studio, so as a Disnerd I guess I should jump in on this too!

Seeing all of the Disney characters interact with each other was AMAZING!

I wish we got to see The Nightmare Before Christmas characters tho :( That would've been pretty awesome (and there weren't any Pixar characters smh which makes no sense since they're Disney too, just a different studio partner)

As a Disney Pinocchio fan I was delightfully surprised that Pinocchio was one of the first characters to emerge! (The voice wasn't very accurate, too high-pitched but still so cute!) I honestly thought that they weren't going to put him in at all, cuz Disney tends to not pay attention to Pinocchio nearly as much as the other movies. AND HIS CUTE WIDDLE FACE OH MY GOODNESS MY LITTLE BLORBO!!!!! And he was trying not to laugh when Louis fell out of his picture frame XD like oh my goodness his little opera-gloved hand trying to hide his smile. Pinocchio has broken the cuteness meter

TIANA AND PINOCCHIO INTERACTING WAS SOMETHING I NEVER KNEW I NEEDED IT WAS SO CUTEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEK!!!

And Mickey stopping at Walt's picture, and "Feed the Birds" piano instrumental to accompany it???!?!?!?!?!!!! You better believe I cried :sobs uncontrollably: (for those non-Disnerds that might not have understood, "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins was Walt Disney's favorite song)

Moana, Flounder, Merlin, and Mad Hatter interacting with each other was AWESOME!!!

And the bit when Prince Charming loses his shoe on the stairs and Max grabbing it and running off and him yelling "ERIC, GET YOUR DOG!!!" I can't even I CAN'T EVEN THAT WAS AMAZING OMIGOSH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

and then Cinderella was like "Go, Max, go!" She was legit ENCOURAGING HIM to run away! (I'm pretty sure, from this information, that she plays pranks on her prince often) why was this short blessed upon us?!?!

AND THEY MADE CINDERELLA'S GOWN SILVER!!!!! NOT BLUE!!!!! Cuz it's not blue, it's actually silver (and Disney seems to disregard this a lot of the time)! BUT THEY ACTUALLY MADE IT SILVER akjhkjhroiqrowoewvwpqwomiepovie21ueiuv9upwe9pv;";ad's;dw!

QUASIMODO SINGING "WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR" OMIGOSH HIS VOICEEEEEEEEEE

AND JIMINY CRICKET ENDING "WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR" WITH CLIFF EDWARD'S ORIGINAL VOICE?!?!?!?!?! WHAT IS HAPPENING!?!?!?!!!?!?! WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THIS

the elevator bits were hilarious XD and Baymax looking adorable as ever :D

and they put in TREASURE PLANET AAAAAAHHHHH

they finally had Mickey and Minnie NOT wearing their typical outfits (red shorts and red and white polka dots dress) so that was great!

and of course Winnie the Pooh characters!!! All looking so cute, as usual! Everyone stuggling to get Pooh out of the picture frame was genius!!!

And ROBIN HOOD AND LITTLE JOHN picking up Scrooge's moneybags and saying "Ooh-de-lally"!!!!!!!

And Allan-A-Dale providing the soft instrumental music for "When You Wish Upon A Star"?!?!?!?!?!?! AND Mirabel?!?! AND Scat Cat?!?!?!?!?!!?!?? AND MULTIPLE CHARACTERS PROVIDING THE VOCALS?!?!?!

AND PETER PAN, WENDY, JOHN, AND MICHAEL'S FLIGHT UPSTAIRS?!??!?!?!

AND ROBIN WILLIAMS VOICING GENIE?!?!?!?!?!!? (tbh I actually didn't know it was him until someone pointed that out. which is funny cuz I was like "this sounds SO MUCH like Robin Williams, who did the voicing?") (so they took one Robin William's voice clips from improvising.) fun fact: Robin Williams improvised so much for Aladdin that they literally had 16 hours of material to work with!

Bruh Timon and Pumbaa calling Olaf "Frosty" was amazing

AND OSWALD THE LUCKY RABBIT?!?!?!?!?!?! OH MY GOODNESS

DISNEY IS LITERALLY SPOILING THE FANS!!!!! THEY KNOW WHAT THE FANS WANT OHMYGOSH!!!

Honestly I would've loved to see some interaction between Geppetto and Pinocchio (DISNEY I'M WAITING TO SEE WHOLESOME FATHER-SON BONDING BETWEEN THEM!!!!!!) I only saw the two of them at the end :(

But seeing all the characters together (except TNBC and Pixar for some reason) was amazing!!!!!!!!

I ended up doing some angst and father-son fluff, hope you enjoy!

(This would take place shortly before the events of Rebooted)

Synopsis: Lloyd arrives at his father’s monastery after a long flight through pouring rain. When he wakes up the next morning feeling sick, he tries to act normal for the sake of his father’s students, who are undoubtedly expecting to see the awesome, ever-strong, never-weak Green Ninja.

Content warnings: some violence (nothing gorey,, they’re legit just sparring)

It was almost impossible to see through the darkness and rain. The droplets struck him like tiny, icy needles as he flew at high-speed through the sky. Just a little further, he told himself. Never mind his shivering body, nor his numbing fingers and toes. With a chuckle he imagined what his mother would say at his situation. Maybe she’d scold him for not carrying a coat for such weather. He could almost hear it now: “You’ll catch cold!”

But the monastery was in view now. He’d be fine… right?

Lloyd blinked awake. There was an intense pressure in his head, pushing against his eyes, ears, sinuses. He tried to take a breath, only to find his nose clogging up like a straw filled with glue.

He propped himself up on his elbows, pressing his lips together at the sore pangs triggered in his joints. What’s wrong with me? 

Though the thought of laying back down and going to sleep was very tempting, Lloyd knew his father was eager to have him participate in the day’s lessons at the monastery. He remembered the look in the man’s eyes when he had flown in on his dragon the previous night. He had come beaming outside with an umbrella to greet his son in the darkness and the pouring rain… 

Well, he wasn’t going to disappoint him now. Nor his students; who were undoubtedly ecstatic to train with THE Green Ninja. 

That’s right, Lloyd reminded himself, I’m the Green Ninja. A little headache and some sore joints are nothing to me. 

So, with notable effort, plus some more pain, Lloyd stood up and donned his gi. He ignored the lightheadedness and dizziness that almost made him stumble as he walked outside. 

“Good warm up, everyone,” Sensei Garmadon praised his students, who took their places kneeling around the perimeter of the dojo. He noticed the way their eyes widened and smiles spread on their young faces as many of them noticed something behind their sensei.

“So, you’ve finally decided to join us,” Garmadon teased, turning to face his son and clasping his hands behind his back sagely.

“Sorry, I got sort of a late start,” Lloyd returned bashfully, smiling at the students and taking up a space beside them. Garmadon’s eyebrow raised slightly at the sound of his son’s voice. To the untrained ear it was normal, but he could tell Lloyd was trying to sound normal.

“Well,” Garmadon cleared his throat, “let’s try some sparring, then.”

Lloyd found his eyes trying to close as he watched pair after pair of kids fight each other. He saw the way their eyes kept flitting to him hopefully, seeking his approval. He tried to keep smiling. He even managed to give a little thumbs-up a couple times. The way they’d beam back at him was a constant reminder: he was the Green Ninja, he was an idol to them. Unshakeable. Unwavering. Strong—not some weakling who falls victim to a bit of soreness. And so he kept his back straight, his eyes open, his face smiling. And he ignored that incessant throbbing in his head and his straining muscles.

“Lloyd, Will?” Garmadon beckoned.

Showtime. Remember, you’re the Green Ninja. Show these kids you can live up to the title.

He stood up. Walked to the center of the dojo. Squared up with the kid, probably no older than 11. Bowed in a respectful greeting. So far so good. Totally not lightheaded or anything.

Garmadon leaned over his son’s shoulder to whisper: “Go easy on him.” He stepped back to his position on the sidelines, shooting his son a quick wink. Lloyd returned it with a little smirk. Right. Because I’m stronger than this little guy. I need to go easy on him.

“Begin!”

Lloyd struck first, a lightning-quick but not-so hard blow on the shoulder. The kid reacted, sweeping his foot to kick Lloyd’s ankle. He was thrown off balance for a split second, but quickly regained his footing. Lloyd landed another hit on the kid’s side, a hard one. He stumbled, almost fell over—please fall over—but rebounded with resilience characteristic to someone so young. Lloyd’s limbs were starting to shake. His heart pounded against his ribcage, pumping blood and adrenaline through his veins. But it wasn’t enough. Come on, Lloyd urged himself in growing frustration.

The kid was landing more hits than he would’ve liked. Lloyd glanced at the other kids, watching with doey eyes filled with anticipation. They were waiting to see their idol kick some butt. He could imagine their thoughts: What’s taking so long? Why is the Green Ninja…struggling?

Anger took hold of him. Ignoring the pain in his limbs, Lloyd kicked the kid square in the stomach. Hard. No holding back. That should keep him down. 

The kid folded, letting out a pained grunt as he clutched his stomach. But he quickly straightened himself, determination burning in his eyes. Apparently the kick hadn’t been as hard as Lloyd thought it was.

Now the kid was swinging his legs through the air in a high jump-kick aimed for Lloyd’s head. Will prepared for the impact of his leg against his opponent’s skull, but the impact never came. Just like the Green Ninja, to dodge so quickly! He thought with admiration.

But Lloyd hadn’t dodged. He had fallen to his knees, limbs giving out. He trembled on his hands and knees for a second before falling flat on his face.

“That’s enough,” Sensei Garmadon said, his sense of urgency creeping into his voice despite his attempts to remain calm. “Students, why don’t you head out to the garden and meditate?”

The kids promptly crowded out of the room as Garmadon rushed to his collapsed son.

Lloyd awoke with a start. He took a sharp breath as his eyes flew open. He tried to sit up, but hardly lifted himself from the mattress before pain seized him, forcing him back down.

“Easy, Lloyd,” Garmadon’s stern but caring voice came from beside him.

He turned his head to see his father kneeling beside him, pouring tea. He helped his son into a partially upright position, wedging pillows underneath him. “Drink,” he said, handing him a cup of the steaming tea.

Lloyd was about to ask what happened when it came back to him, all at once. He had woken up feeling off. He had been sparring a kid, then he… oh no. He had passed out. In front of all those kids. All those children who idolized him. They had sat and watched THE Green Ninja fall at the hands of one of them—another kid. 

Lloyd clutched his cup, tears pricking at his eyes.

“I’m sorry,” Lloyd rasped, drooping his head to hide his face.

Garmadon’s face twisted with worry. “Why, my son?”

“I let all those kids down. They… they wanted to see the Green Ninja.” The tears were flowing now, and Lloyd tried to sniffle but his nose was too clogged up. “All they got was a sorry sucker downed by a cold.”

“Lloyd,” Garmadon placed a hand on Lloyd’s shoulder, stooping down so he could see his face. “Don’t say such things. Do you think that just because you’re the Green Ninja, you’re stronger than the rest of us? That you’re immune to failing?”

“I’m supposed to be stronger. I’m not supposed to be weak like this.”

“The Green Ninja is meant to be strong, that much is true. But you are not just the Green Ninja. You are Lloyd. A young boy. A boy who bleeds, catches a cold… cries,” Garmadon reached out to cup his son’s cheek, brushing away a falling tear with his thumb. He smiled slightly as Lloyd’s green eyes met his.

There was comfort in his words. Comfort and, Lloyd realized, truth. The corners of his lips perked up in a smile, and he lifted his head to fully face his father.

“Thanks,” he whispered. And then he let out a laugh (as much of one as he could make with his sore throat). “But I don’t know if I accept the title ‘young’ anymore,” he mused. “Not after that magic tea.” Garmadon chuckled. “Drink your normal tea now.”

I AM LATE TO THE GAME BUT I JUST FINISHED READING MADELINE MILLER’S CIRCE 🥲

I’m definitely feeling all the feelings, as it was a long and dragged out journey (even though I was thoroughly hooked before I read the first words) because of work and yenno - my mental health lol.

It was so so soooooo beautifully written. The imagery and details were literally AMA-ZA-ZING 🤩✨

A physical embodiment of a female experience/journey of womanhood; and how figuring out and finding oneself can feel like an eternity. It also perfectly captured the melancholic, yet beautiful fear and joy that comes with living, and how worth it it is to go through all of it.

Circe is probably the MOST likable character of all time 🥲😭😭❤️❤️🥺

Her bravery in the face of danger

Her curiosity and wonder

Her appreciative spirit for simplicity

Her humility
