Every Grand Prix in 2024 as a Taylor Swift Song
A 24 song playlist to capture the 2024 season vibes. Each song is meant to capture something unique about each race or to convey a notable moment.
Now this is Charles and Ferrari biased, I am not giving Mclaren the happy endings here.
Bahrain: New Romantics
"We team up, then switch sides like a record changer"
"Please take my hand and // Please take me dancing, and // Please leave me stranded // It's so romantic"
Start of a new season with hopes and also old rivalries. Let's go, everyone's excited even though the race was a disaster for most teams with their cars falling apart, but baby heartbreak is the national anthem, so stay hyped!
Jeddah: Fearless
"'Cause I don't know how it gets better than this // You take my hand and drag me head first // Fearless"
Ollie did jump in that car fearlessly.
Australia: . . . Ready For It?
"So I'll take my time // Are you ready for it? // Oh, are you ready for it?"
This was the race that in hindsight was the beginning of a tone shift, Ferrari 1-2 and the whole world saw that the Red Bull car/team wasn't perfect.
And in hindsight I don't think any of us were in fact ready for it.
Suzuka: Dancing With Our Hands Tied
"I, I loved you in spite of deep fears that the world would divide us So, baby, can we dance // Oh, through an avalanche?"
Hard fought race on many sides, especially Yuki and Charles who had the defining drives this race.
China: The Way I Loved You
"Breaking down and coming undone, it's a roller coaster kind of rush"
"But I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain"
Rain means we needed some rain metaphors, and also this is when we started to really see some fighting on track between the Ferraris and also between Lewis and Max and Max and Lando. A lot of clashes happened here that would foreshadow tensions later in the season.
Miami: This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things
"This is why we can't have nice things, darlin' // Because you break them, I had to take them away"
This is the song the safety car was playing when it came out where it did.
Imola: Out of The Woods
"Are we out of the woods yet? Are we in the clear yet? Are we in the clear yet, good"
A race with many questions. Max barely held on to his lead, Ferrari wasn't sure where they were with the upgrades, a lot of questions left to ask after a fairly uneventful race.
Monaco: Long Live
"Long live the walls we crashed through // How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you // I was screaming, 'Long live all the magic we made'"
Really no other song can come close to capturing the Monaco win.
Canada: This is Me Trying
"I've been having a hard time adjusting. I had the shiniest wheels, now they're rusting."
Another race of struggle. Not just for Charles and Ferrari as a whole, but this was not an easy race for anyone. A lot of things fell apart. Merc messed up, Mclaren messed up, Checo and Red Bull massively messed up. This was the race of the strugglers.
Spain: Anti-Hero
"I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser"
"It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me"
A lot of problems cropping up again, and again, they are familiar battles that still have yet to find resolution.
Austria: Bejeweled
"Best believe I'm still bejeweled when I walk in the room I can still make the whole place shimmer"
"I think it's time to teach some lessons"
Max did teach some lessons, and George did come out of this still bejeweled.
Britain: The Alchemy
"I haven't come around in so long, but I'm coming back so strong"
"So when I touch down // Call the amateurs and // Cut 'em from the team // Ditch the clowns, get the crown // Baby I'm the one to beat"
Taylor wrote this song so it could be played for Lewis' return to the top step. Doesn't matter the rest of the field behind him was having the worst race of their lives, Lewis was the moment.
Hungary: Getaway Car
"It was the best of times, the worst of crimes. I struck a match and blew your mind. But I didn't mean it, and you didn't see it."
"No, nothin' good starts in a getaway car"
Yeah, Oscar bites it turns out. Nothing good starts in an orange car.
Spa: Haunted
"It's getting dark and it's all too quiet and I can't trust anything now. And it's coming over you like it's all a big mistake."
Inside George's head after his win was taken due to the team's mistake.
Zandvoort: I Forgot That You Existed
"I forgot that you existed // It isn't love, it isn't hate // It's just indifference"
There's only one orange army, and it aint Mclaren.
Monza: Sweeter than Fiction
"I will say, "I knew it all along" // Your eyes are wider than distance // This life is sweeter than fiction"
"Proved me right, proved me right when you proved them wrong. And in this perfect weather, it's like we don't remember the rain we thought would last forever and ever"
Charles winning after so many thought it was over, proved a lot of people wrong and reminded the sport why winning in Monza only matters in red.
Baku: Should've Said No
"Yesterday I found out about you. Even now just looking at you feels wrong."
"You should've said, "No" // You should've gone home // You should've thought twice 'fore you let it all go"
I mean, intense race, with crashes and an illegal car part scandal that will forever taint the race result? Yeah seems like the classic infidelity song captures the strong emotions from that weekend.
Singapore: Vigilante Shit
"You did some bad things, but I'm the worst of them"
"I don't start shit, but I can tell you how it ends"
Max stole the show in Singapore, not only with his drive, but also with his response to sweargate. It didn't matter who won or how, this is where Max stopped playing nice with the media and the FIA this season.
Austin: I'm Only Me When I'm With You
"Well, you drive me crazy half the time, the other half I'm only trying to let you know that what I feel is true. And I'm only me when I'm with you."
Only team worth winning with is red, Charles and Ferrari together in the chaos of this season for the highs and the lows, this being another high.
Mexico: Castles Crumbling
"And I feel like my castle's crumbling down // And I watch all my bridges burn to the ground"
"Their faith was strong, but I pushed it too far. I held that grudge 'til it tore me apart."
A lot of things falling apart this race. Similar to Canada in many ways.
Brazil: Wonderland
"And life was never worse but never better"
"Flashing lights and we took a wrong turn and we fell down a rabbit hole. You held on tight to me 'cause nothing's as it seems and spinning out of control"
Hard to find a song that captures the duality of the high that Max and the alpines experienced alongside the chaos and pain felt by the rest of the field, but life was never worse but never better is as close as I can get.
Vegas: The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
"Were you sent by someone who wanted me dead? Did you sleep with a gun underneath our bed? Were you writing a book? Were you a sleeper cell spy? In fifty years, will all this be declassified? And you'll confess why you did it And I'll say, 'Good riddance'"
This seems pointed, but Charles basically recited the bridge to this song in his post race radio. That was the standout moment that people were talking about. Now I also think it fits as this was Max's fourth win and that win sent a message to all the small (likely british) men who questioned his fitness as a champion and tried to stop him at every turn this season.
Qatar: I Bet You Think About Me
"Mr. Superior Thinkin' Do you have all the space that you need?"
"I bet you think about me when you say "Oh my God, she's insane, she wrote a song about me" // I bet you think about me."
Hard to encapsulate the George vs Max of it all in a single song. But the tone of this one I think fits the petty vibes.
Abu Dhabi: I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
"Lights, camera, bitch smile, even when you wanna die"
"All the pieces of me shattered as the crowd was chanting "More" I was grinning like I'm winning, I was hitting my marks 'Cause I can do it with a broken heart"
Charles drove like that for the fool's chance at the constructor's, and then they made him act in a stupid movie. In any case losing the constructor's was heartbreaking, but we continue on because it's Ferrari and we come back next year stronger.
That and I think the song is a good finish to the season where so many just had to keep going even when it was hard (physically and mentally)
That's my playlist. Congrats on surviving whatever the 2024 F1 season was.
Hopefully 2025 makes for a banger playlist too.

Stiles: [sobbing bc he can’t save the puppy* who is going to FREEZE in the cold]
Claudia and John, who know this is absolutely NOT a dog: [trying to wrestle the pup out of Stiles’ deceptively strong three-year-old grip]
*Derek, not a puppy but a wolf cub who is admittedly tiny for his age: [head empty no thoughts, enjoying the scent and warmth of Stiles’ scarf]
Talia, watching this all go down behind a tree: [plotting how to save her son for the FIFTH TIME THIS SKI SEASON who she’s beginning to suspect doesn’t want to be saved]

Ranking all the Driver logos of the 2023 F1 grid
My ranking of the logo designs of the grid, doing main drivers only. Ranked based on the graphic design quality. A good logo is simple and recognizable.
Not bringing any driver biases into this, if your logo sucks you're on the bottom.
Starting at number 20 and counting up to 1! Let's go!
20. Kevin Magnussen It's hard to find his official logo, but this seems to come up the most. While initials with driver number is a good idea, the font kills it. Having a brush-like font makes it too complex and messy. It doesn't look bad but it's not logo material
Tumblr media
19. Esteban Ocon
I'll be honest I don't even know what's going on in the middle there. But this is more of a simplified signature, that isn't what you want in a logo. If the E and O were bolder with that swoop we might be on to something, but instead we have this mess.
Tumblr media
18. Zhou Guanyu
This logo is at least clear, however it is still burdened by being a little too complex. Plus it reminds me of Monster Energy font which isn't helping. The split in the Z is lost when viewed at a distance. This could be good with a little more polishing but for now it's trying to do too much.
This is an example of having elements that don't add anything, this would be the same or even improved without the border lines.
Tumblr media
17. Lewis Hamilton
Getting controversial here. While this is a nice logo, and there is thought put behind it. This could be anything. There is nothing specific to the driver here. It's too abstract. Now as a 7-time world champion he can make this logo synonymous with himself. But this logo feels impersonal. This could be a car or computer logo for all I can tell.
Additionally the excess of lines in the detailing makes it unnecessarily complex.
Tumblr media
16. Fernando Alonso
This logo suffers from a lot of the same problems as Esteban's. It's better because that bold arrow is distinctive and makes it stand out. But it's over doing it with the excess of squiggles. I think if it were just the A with the arrow making the line through this would be a top 10 design, but it tries to do too much.
Tumblr media
15. Nico Hulkenberg
For some reason it's really hard to find what this man's logo even is. Some sources have it as just his name in block letters. Regardless just the driver number is lazy. It's fine, however it really has no thought put into it.
Tumblr media
14. Carlos Sainz
Another number logo. This one beat out Hulkenberg just a bit because there is more stylization put into the numbers. The sleek design looks like a track. So for a number logo this one is the best, but it is still just a number logo.
Tumblr media
13. Logan Sargeant
It was really hard to find a high quality image of this one. I don't dislike it. The logo is clean. I like the way the letters run into each other, but it feels a little lazy for an initials logo. The font is also something that I could probably find on any PC so it lacks that customization Furthermore it is without an element of personalization. This is basically doing the bare minimum for an initials logo.
Tumblr media
12. Yuki Tsunoda
This one is similar to Dani's. It has bold blocking which makes for a good clean logo. It's inspired by a Japanese symbol for luck. Simple, clean lines, recognizable at a distance, this is a pretty good one.
Tumblr media
11. Daniel Riccardo
Don't get me wrong I do like this one. It's unique and definitely stands out from the rest. However it suffers from a little too much abstraction. Yes if you look closely you can make out a D and an R, but it isn't clear. So good logo, but went a bit too far in some areas.
I feel like some people might disagree with me here, but just because it looks cool doesn't mean it's necessarily a good logo.
Tumblr media
TOP 10!
Beyond here I think all of these are great logos, it's just a matter of nitpicking.
10. Valtteri Bottas
This one is just sleek. The single line ending in that nice curve is so good. The V blending into the lowercase B is so smooth. A lot going on in such a simple design. It's on the more abstract end for initials but it's not pushing it too far. The looping effect it has for directing the eye is really effective.
Tumblr media
9. Lance Stroll
This is really good for a clean initial logo. Simple, bold with a little bit of stylization. It's doing a lot more than Logan's(same initials) The only thing that bothers me about it is the gap, I like it, but it seems a little off in my opinion. But over all this is a good example of a nice initial logo.
Tumblr media
8. Oscar Piastri
Another one I had a really hard time getting a quality image for. This is another good example of an initials logo with a personal touch. Love the simple lettering and the dashes connecting the two letters. This has way more custom touches which is why it stands out compared to Logan's.
Tumblr media
7. Alex Albon
Now this is just satisfying to look at. Double initials really work here. It's about what I'd expect from a double A situation, nothing super innovative, but they made something really nice with it. The use of blank space between the letters also creates a nice through line for the eye.
Tumblr media
6. Sergio Perez
This one is a little complex but it makes up for that fact because it does something that a lot of logos struggle with. It incorporates the driver's number(there are better examples higher on the list).
I am happy that someone saw the potential to sneak the driver number into the initials, that's easy to do with number 11 and it's pretty effective here.
If the 1's weren't hollow this would be even higher, remove the serifs and fill in the 1s and this is top 2 easy, but for now it's number 6.
Tumblr media
5. Max Verstappen
This is a really clever combo of Max's initials. M and V sharing similar design elements really lends itself nicely to this concept. The logo takes advantage of that perfectly creating something simple and recognizable.
The symmetry is also very satisfying in this one. It's a really good example of how lettering can be combined with geometric shapes to great results.
Tumblr media
4. Pierre Gasly
This is just a great design. The simple letters that are connected fitting within an invisible geometric shape, beautiful. This is just satisfying to look at. It's simple, has the letters that are obvious, has a high level of custom appearance and is a really sleek design.
This one is essentially tied with the number 3 spot. I had a hard time choosing because they are both such good designs. The reason this is in number 4 is only because it's a little less pleasing to the eye but that is subjective. So it's effectively a tie.
Tumblr media
3. Charles Leclerc
This is fantastic logo design. It's helped by the fact that the letters get to mirror each other in a really nice way. It does a similar thing to Pierre's having a simple geometric shape outline the whole thing.
The negative space mirroring the positive space is what set it a part just a little, that's a really sophisticated design choice and is visually satisfying. It helps create a nice flow that compliments the lettering.
It's sleek, bold, the letters are clear, this is what a logo should look like. The bold outline helps it stand out even more while not overly complicating the design.
Tumblr media
2. Lando Norris
At first glance Lando's is very similar to Lance's, however it is so much better. It almost mirrors itself and has nice motion to it almost creating a swirl.
However the real genius of this design comes into play with the negative space between the initials. It creates the number 4! A super clever way to incorporate the driver's number into the initials as well. Making use of all the space in a logo while only using 2 lines, now that is just good design work right there.
Tumblr media
1. George Russell
There were a lot of close ones on this list, but George's is the clear winner. This is a logo where I see it and I'm just impressed. It's so simple but they somehow managed to combine his initials with his driver number. Brilliant! This is the kind of design that not anyone could come up with.
Sometimes you see just the number, sometimes it's the initials. Either way it works, they almost created an optical illusion in the best possible way. This is beyond clever and is such a good example of what good graphic design can do.
Tumblr media
That's my list! Hopefully you had fun reading.

legend tells that Thoth, god of knowledge and magic, played cards with Khonsu, god of the moon, and won 5 extra days worth of moonlight. he gave them to the sky goddess Nut (who was forbidden from giving birth on any day of the then 360-day year), subsequently allowing her to produce Osiris, Isis, Horus, Set, and Nepthys—one on each of the five days
no one knows that Thoth was up to with the whole “leap year” thing. after all, there’s no way Nut could give birth to just 1/4th of a god. unless…..

They don’t even attempt to assassinate US politicians anymore. You notice that? Not since the anthrax scare back for… who was it, Barack? And even that… pathetic. This new generation has no respect for an honest hitman. I’m not sure this new generation has any honest hitman - you see that shit with Boeing? Sloppy, fucking disgraceful - you kill the whistleblowers before they get halfway to a lawsuit. What kind of fucking amateur is doing faked suicides the night before testimony? Goddamn greenhorns. Back in my day someone tried to shoot Ronald Reagan in broad daylight. There used to be bomb threats to Congress. I took out a few union leaders in the utilities sector myself. Today’s generation? Won’t even threaten to throw a punch - not even over on that - what’s it now, ‘X’? They got no guts. None! And they don’t even have poor impulse control to boot! Too much of that - that panopticon anxiety bullshit. “Oh what if I get a called out post???” People used to send the president letters full of bioweapons. In the mail! Today’s generation? Not a chance. All because of woke.

One of my favorite things about Tolkien's writing is that he has a very specific, recurring trope. For lack of a better term, I'm dubbing this the Tolkien Wife-Guy.
This is mainly obvious in the Silmarillion, but Tolkien loves to write couples where the man is a notable individual- nobility, commits a great deed, or both- but the wife is at least equally notable, if not more beloved or powerful. Manwe is the king of the Valar and Eru's main representative in Arda? Everyone loves Varda more, and Melkor fears her more than his own brother. Elu Thingol is the king of the Silvan Elves? His wife is Melian, whose Girdle is the magic that keeps Morgoth's forces at bay. Beren is a chief among the Edain, who befriends animals and survives one of the most nightmarish places in Beleriand? His wife is Luthien.
Even in Lord of the Rings we see this occur, though the couples are on more even footing. Tom Bombadil is... Tom Bombadil, but Goldberry is the River-daughter, and Tom adores her above everything else, and the hobbits are completely taken in with her when she's their host. Similarly, while Celeborn is a mighty lord among Elves, Galadriel is one of the only Noldor in Middle-earth who saw the Two Trees, and her hair inspired Feanor to make the Silmarils, not to mention her own accomplishments in the war against Morgoth. Aragorn is the king of Gondor and Arnor, but Arwen is the Evenstar of the Elves, the descendant of three(?) different royal Elven lines. And Faramir becomes the Steward of Gondor and is one of the noblest men alive, but Eowyn killed the Witch-king, so you know. She got the grander moment for the saga.
But with (most) of these couples, we never get the impression that the man views his wife as Less-Than, or as a junior partner. Thingol is the main exception to this in how he dismisses Melian's counsel, and that's made out to be his foolishness within the text. Otherwise, Manwe treats Varda as his co-ruler, Beren never tries to downplay Luthien's achievements, and I'm pretty sure most of Tom Bombadil's dialogue is about how gorgeous Goldberry is. It's really sweet.
All of these examples really testify to how much Tolkien loved his wife. People rightly point to Beren and Luthien as the prime example of that, but I think you can find it in these other couples too. Even though Edith is mainly known to history as Mrs. Tolkien, it's evident to me that Jirt saw her as a whole person worthy of admiration outside of being his wife.
