Nick Fury is such a feminist icon to me, he’s one of the longest running characters in the mcu and has never once said anything bad about women. He worked as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D in the 80s-90s, met a crazy space soldier lady who turned out to be one of the only female pilots in the Air Force and never once doubted her capabilities for a second, powers or not. He trusted her with the fate of the world. He puts his trust into Maria to fly a ship that could crash and kill them both AND she goes on to be the founder of S.W.O.R.D. He recruited Natasha and put her as the lead on several missions as one of his best spies and he made Maria Hill deputy commander of S.H.I.E.L.D despite her getting backlash from the male agents, she was always his right hand woman. Then he makes Monica one of the leading scientists at S.A.B.E.R and trusts that this new team of badass women can save the planet yet again. Fury has never seen a woman and been like “she can’t do that she’s a GIRL” AND he’s a cat dad, what an icon.

Everybody Else gonna be searching for Skrulls all season...

And the only Conspiracy Theory I care about and came up with is that Gravik is the son of Nick Fury, let us call him MCU Nick Fury Junior. It may be an Ultimate Cliché, soap opera, but it would literally double the parent-child drama of the series. (So this entire time I have been shipping the children of who may be my two new favourite MCU besties😅😂and honestly, I can live with that👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏿, down to clown. The bit in this breakdown positioning Gravik as the king of the chessboard and Giah as the queen gave me even more feels at them.♟♟♟♟) And I think the seriousness of the show could redeem the cliché of it and make it work. My spider senses were tingling throughout the pilot episode and I have to get this out of my system. Let me have my Prescod opening clip🤣🤣🤣🤣. Too many filming choices and lines in the script framing some kind of connection between Gravik and Fury, and that at any point since 'Captain Marvel' Nick could have been knocking alien boots with a Skrull or we are being set up for a child reveal. This show will be our first deep dive into Nick Fury Senior as I am now going to call him, and until now we have never really gotten into a wife or child situation if any so would be the iconic opportunity to reveal it.

Dad has been hiding something. He won’t let me into the lab lately and seems…different. But he happens to be away on a mission today. I have to be fast. Using my AI earpiece, I am able to hack into the door and open it.

Looking at his computers, I search for something. Anything. I know how to hack, so this shouldn’t be too hard. 

Going through files, I see something that makes my heart skip a beat.

Ivy

My mother’s name. Why does he have a file on my mom? My dad always said he couldn’t find information about her since she lived off the grid. And he didn’t really know her. I was the result of a one-night stand.

I click on the file, getting through every bit of heavy security Dad has put on it. “Really don’t want anyone to find this, huh?”

Finally able to read what’s inside the file, I gasp. “No…”

Approximately on July 26th 2010, Ivy Harper was mortally wounded by a single gunshot wound to the head, dying at the age of 35 and leaving behind 9 year old Aurora Anthony Stark, who escaped the ambush.

Ivy Harper was the daughter of former HYDRA agents, Daniel and Betty Harper. Ivy was born off the grid sometime in 1975, her parents hiding away in a small shelter outside of Wheeler Springs, California. 

Daniel and Betty seem to have passed away before Aurora’s birth. From what can be found, the two were HYDRA agents that saw the error in their ways, going off the grid and proceeding to have Ivy. Daniel and Betty were possibly killed by HYDRA.

After extensive research, it has been determined that James Buchanan Barnes assassinated Ivy Harper as The Winter Soldier, brainwashed into carrying out executions by HYDRA. He killed Harper, proceeding to chase Aurora until she escaped. 

It is recommended that Miss Aurora Stark is not informed of these revelations due to her teenage and impulsive behavior. I fear she may harm Mr. Barnes as you once had, Mr. Stark. Handle this information with extreme caution and care.

Bucky killed my mother and my dad decided not to tell me. I’ve wondered about the truth for years and it was here for all this time. My eyes blur with tears as I get up, trying not to do something rash.

“I’ll give you five seconds to explain before I yell at you. Five” Dad makes himself known.

I spin around. “Y-You’re supposed to be on a mission! How did you-”

“Four. You’re not starting off too well.��� He replies.

I throw my hands up in frustration. “I knew you’ve been lying to me. I decided to find out. And you were! You’ve sat on this for an entire year and you didn’t think to tell me that Bucky Barnes murdered my mother?!”

“Three, two, one. Okay, how the hell did you get through my security?” Dad asks. 

“You know I’m good with computers. I’m not as stupid as you think I am!” I argue.

“Oh yeah, Anonymous? You hacked into my lab and into my tech! I’d be proud if it wasn’t so goddamn reckless!” He yells.

I clench my fists. “I wouldn’t have to do that if you just told me the truth!”

He shakes his head. “No. No, you don’t get to turn this around on me. I…I was going to tell you once I felt you were ready for that. But you clearly aren’t.”

“You know how long I’ve wanted answers. You know how much it haunts me. How I have nightmares about the person who killed her!” I reply.

Dad gulps, pausing. “I was trying to protect you.” 

“I don’t need to be protected. Not from this. You didn’t know my mom. You didn’t love her. Not like I did. She was just one random woman in a sea of other women to you.” I snap. 

His anger is clear. I’ve gone a bit too far. “Don’t. You don’t know a thing about my past. I won’t listen to you talk about things you know nothing about. You only exist because of that past.”

“I know you haven’t been able to be in my life the entire time. You only found out about me when I was nine. But…you shouldn’t get to police what I do and don’t know about my mom. She was my world. She was everything. And you actively lied.” I point out.

Dad sighs and rubs his temples. “Your parents and your great grandparents were HYDRA agents.”

“Do you think that makes me bad too?’ I ask.

“You know I don’t.” He replies. 

I pause. “You know what it’s like to come from a past you’re not proud of. Why…Why would you hide this? You know how much it’s hurt me.”

He knows what I mean without me having to elaborate. “I only found out after all of that stuff with Cap…Plus, I don’t even know where Bucky is now. I didn’t want to hurt you. There’s nothing you can do about all of that now.”

I wipe the corners of my eyes. “Anything else you’re keeping from me?”

Dad shakes his head. “No. Just…don’t do this again.”

Crossing my arms, I give him a look. “If you don’t give me a reason to do it, I won’t.”

He groans. “That’s not how this works. I know I wasn’t there when you were growing up for the most part, but…I just need you to listen to me. I was a devil as a teenager but you don’t have to be. Unlike my dad, I’m actually in your life. I’m breaking the cycle and all that.”

I hug myself for comfort. “I loved her so much, Dad…You’re all I’ve got. What am I supposed to do if you…” 

Dad approaches me. “I’m not going anywhere. Not for a while, anyways.”

I frown, wrapping my arms around him. “You can’t decide when you’ll die.”

He kisses the top of my head. “I know I’ll be safe when I’ve got my girl here. You’re a literal spitfire. I don’t have to worry. Neither do you.” 

I sigh. “I’m sorry I disappointed you.”

“I’ll never stay mad, Ro. You’re…very much your father’s daughter. I blame myself.” Dad jokes.

Leaning into him, I pray inside my head that I will never have to lose him.

Not for a long, long time.
