And it shouldn't be like this. People should have the right to exist in their safe space without armor and a sword to fight off trolls and people who make fandom uninhabitable. I should have the right to post my stuff without being told to "stop polluting the tags." Person X should have the right to post without fearing they're saying something wrong. Person Y should be able to share what makes them happy without feeling unsafe in their own community. Person Z should be able to enjoy fandom without dealing with drama spurred by hateful people. And yet here we are. The block button is there. If you don't like someone, you don't have to interact with them. Plain and simple.

I started feeling burnt out a while ago, but it has nothing to do with anon hate or anything of the sort. in the early days of mha fandom it was pretty normal to split up deku and bakugou bc 1.) not a super cool awesome amazing relationship at the moment and 2.) both of them were becoming friends with other members of the class (thank you season 2!!!). so if they were befriending different ppl then making two fanon friend groups seemed like the right fandom thing to do.

but fandom has always flanderized relationships pretty badly and mha, imo, is one of the most egregious examples. the loud majority of early fandomgoers were too scared of bkdk being connected in any possible way. they were abusive, toxic, evil, etc.etc.etc. and if you liked them then you fetishized bully/victim relationships. hence, in order to be a Good Fan, you had to separate them.

Despite his fear of spiders, went with Harry into the forbidden forest, that most of the school avoided, following a spider trail. We know well that this situation ended with a meeting with Aragog, but despite his obvious fear, Ron waited for Harry to finish asking Aragog questions.

He also went with Harry straight to the Chamber of Secrets, knowing full well that the Basilisk was there. One of the most dangerous creatures in the entire wizarding world.

He overcame his fears in order to help his friend.

Ron was very loyal. Yes, they had arguments, but all of the trio had, Hermione abandoned the boys a few times too, but that’s how life works, friends sometimes argue and don’t agree with each other but what makes them a good friend is that they apologize and always come back. Harry appreciated him very much for this, after all, Ron was the person Harry missed the most and whom he had to save during the 2nd task of the Triwizard Tournament.

It both appeases the part of me that adheres to canon characterization of Camila as a woman who still, years later, has boxes of Manny's stuff lying around the house, yet to be put away, bc realistically she did not get proper space to mourn him when he died and she is not ready to move on...AND the part of me that, like you, wants Camilla's coworkers to see a picture of Darius and LOSE THEIR MINDS. HELLO??? THIS IS THE BAD BITCH SHE PULLED BY BEING AUTISTIC??? FR???????

And then I'm unsure whether or not I prefer Darius with romantic feelings for Camila? On the one hand I think, in the beautiful timeline where I actually wrote this, I'd prefer to have it come down on the side of "Darius and Camila are Good Friends who bond over how terrifying being a new(ly), single parent is"

and Hunter has to grapple with the fact that no, his family is not and never will be "normal" according to societies standards, and he cannot parent trap his parents into loving each other, but that doesn't make his family structure any worse off than something closer to a nuclear family.

Also I'd squeeze some juicy character exploration out of Luz bc she is SO not over her dad's death. She tries to downplay it and act like she is but she is not and it's very very clear in TTT. But she also wants her mom to be happy more than anything. And she loves love! And it'd make hunter happy! So she's just. Sitting there with gritted teeth trying not to get upset at the idea of Darius and her mom actually getting together and being happy.

But, tragically, I can't guarantee I'll ever fully write this out (though I fully encourage ppl to run with the idea if they like it. Please run with it I can't be the only one who's thought of this before) so I give myself a little more room to be silly and I say that. Darius is a person with a lot of walls up who likes pretending to be cool as a method of distancing himself from ppl, and I'd love to watch those walls get eroded by the overly sincere and silly sci-fi nerds that are his son-figure and his crush, who are also mother and son. Also I love the idea of Darius being a man in his forties with a crush. Yes!! Get more pathetic!!! Raeda is cowering rn!!!!!

IN CONCLUSION: I love you anon, I should really make SOMETHING based on the Darius Camila fake dating scenario, but if I don't, let this rambling serve as a testament to the GRIP it has on my brain

So, why do you (and any commenters) dislike Kaia? I’ll go first! 😂

I’m in the industry and not only is she maybe the worst actress I’ve seen in a long time (let alone in high profile shows and movies-yikes!) but I honestly don’t think she’s even a good model. She has model good looks- like no matter how much she bugs me I’m not going to be a hater and act like she isn’t beautiful bc she truly is. Occasionally she has some interesting photographs but this new set for Marc Jacob’s Daisy is absolute amateur hour! (Google them if you don’t know bc I don’t know how to send them in anons- she’s in a sparkly black dress, looking happy/ derpy, and doing modeling 101 poses that basic girls who think they’re models do bc it’s cliche and not what actual seasoned working models do.) It’s so cringe and I’m honestly embarrassed for her. I’ve seen her do better, but half the time the poses are “meh” and/or the eyes are totally dead. Her walk is chaotic but many ppl disagree with me there. But like, she’s the worst nepo baby in my mind bc she truly lacks talent, a personality, and an IT factor.

I don’t know her personally and sometimes she seems nice enough, but there’s a coldness to her and she feels kind of try hard (trying to be older than she is, acting like she has lived this life where she’s learned lessons but never actually gets vulnerable and shares things worth sharing, and tries to be intellectual with soft reads when it’s like…girl just go to college?). She’s just… off. Maybe at 30 she’ll be cool (I really try not to hate or root against but again, she bugs me, but I’m trying to use my words versus being emotional) but she’s beyond hard to take seriously at this moment. And I’m sorry but hers and Austin’s body language is weird AF. Her fans are so young so they don’t see any of what I’m ( or what you) talk about.

Anyway, I’m just a frustrated girlie in the industry who can’t get arrested and am fine with nepo babies if they’re talented but Kaia truly isn’t. I don’t think she’d have a career if she couldn’t afford a good publicist so it feels like double cheating to win the race (opportunities plus PR). Then I looked into her more and again, something is just…OFF.

as for when i started noticing, she really flew under the radar for me for a little while. i became a fan back in July of last year after seeing the movie. and i didn't have a lot to think about the relationship with Austin at that time aside from shes way too young for him. I wasn't researching anything at that point and i was more concerned with learning about Austin, getting to know him and getting absorbed in that content. I think it was sometime around maybe early fall that controversies about the relationship were spreading online. most notably it was the talk of their massive cringe worthy age gap where they got together before she could legally drink AND she was cool with his ex Vanessa in the past, but also as more pap photos came out I just began to notice the obvious signs that Austin was not really "there" or present or happy to be alongside Kaia. so i researched and all of that. then around the filming of bikeriders i had solidified 100% my stance on it with the clear signs of there being rumors of a breakup and the strange PR bullshit surrounding this couple henceforth. and here i am now.

but that's kind of the short answer lol. i'm used to being used as a dartboard for these idiot shippers to throw darts at because im not afraid to be vocal. so i hope that those of us here that feel the same way can have a platform to speak up. because listen, kaia ain't it and that man looks chronically dead when seen with her. so those that don't agree with my (or our, since there are so many of us that think this way) opinion then they can stuff it.

(I have like almost twenty pages worth of google doc with assigned lyrics and comments for why (most of) these songs fit for them and in this playlist! I will try my best to keep this as short as my brain allows...)

As I mentioned in the original Spommy (taylor's version) post, the order that we put these songs in has it's reasons. So I will go through the different relationship stages and corresponding songs one by one. And try to briefly explain whose POV it's supposed to represent and maybe highlight a few specifc lines.

-> mostly as a set-up for both of their general attitudes at the beginning of this stage and for the dancing/club theme of Gorgeous

My general opinion is that sometimes fantasy/fiction can be used both as escapism (bigotry doesn't exist) or for catharsis (Bigotry exist, and here how X character deals with it/is affected by it). You're definitely justified in questioning it (or feeling uncomfortable) when certain people do it tbh, it really can feel like sprinkling in flavor or just straight patronizing.

There's no "correct" way to go about it that is going to perfectly encapsulate everyone's unique experiences with oppression, but there's for sure wrong ways of doing it (stares directly at Mr. Erik Redacted Audio and his d(a)emons). It really shows when someone has implicit biases that they haven't worked out yet so they end up doing/making something bigoted when they intended to make commentary on a social issue they don't understand the complexities of and/or have experience with.

the main thing i have to say here though. “half of the time it’s shit you have no say in anyway” like i don’t have to be black to think that anti-blackness is bad. this goes beyond whatever this anon is talking about — the problem with “listen to x voices” is that, while it’s important to put oppressed viewpoints in the forefront of discussions, it’s not a free pass out of critical thought. ppl forget “listen to x voices” started out in academic study. it wasn’t about the ppl you choose to defend or the viewpoints you hold publicly. and it’s not about minority voices saying “x isn’t harmful” taking precedence over established theory to the contrary. i think this is something ANY poc understands acutely and painfully because it’s always the conservative and white supremacist sellouts that get put to the forefront. (this includes diasporic poc more so than non-minority people native to their nation. like how irritating that bts has a voice on violence against asian americans when their experience as native koreans has NOTHING to do with the diasporic asian experience!?)

it also gives people an out. if you believe that only x people should talk or care about x issues, then that lets you just sit back and say “well, i’m not x so i’m not involved”… and more irritatingly, it gives you the perceived right to say “well I’M a minority so my opinion is right !!!!”. being a person of color doesn’t make me an expert on racism and i don’t pretend to be an expert. there are white anti-imperialist scholars who have a better understanding of racist power structures than i do and i’m not arrogant enough to just write that off because they’re white.
