Barrett Kantor (new oc that's gonna slip his way into Light's stories somehow) is keeping me sane thru this project rn.

He's Light's "rival" in a sense. A few years older than them, he studies Science, which is a world of magic is wonky. He prefers to be called an Alchemist, but he's constantly mistaken for a Potion-Maker thanks to his vials of deadly poisons and dangerous chemical compounds that he keeps on his belt.

100% I think he hitches rides w/ Light and tries to discount their "magic" but just fails every time cuz it's literally magic. They're besties, despite their difference in opinions.

He's also a hypocrite, because he's the descendant of dragons and literally summons fire from his hands. (And has a dragon tail-) But he chooses to believe *that* is just a weird heritage thing (like, evolution theory but bad-) cuz he came from a place where lots of people had those traits. He also swears Light has sum heritage like that too, cuz he sees their pointed ears and they're suspiciously really good at seeing in the dark.

i think there’s divinity in gross and ugly things. i think the radical love and acceptance of what is weird and nasty is angelic and i think there is something holy about indulging in the neglected/looked down on/outcast/unacceptable parts of this world. you should let yourself be weird

So my best friend reblogged this post where this guy was saying how he was so in love with this girl he made his phone vibrate a certain way or sm when she texted him so he'd know if his phone was worth looking at or not and they said in the tags that they have everyone muted except for their boyfriend, basically saying they think that if they get a notification from me or any of their other friends, it's not worth looking at because it's not a text from him.

the "romantic relationships are more important than any other relationship" thing just really infuriates me, i hate it when a cringy love song comes on and there's lyrics saying that the person doesn't need anyone else, they only need their lover because,, i dont want to seem pessimistic but like,, what if the lover leaves?? is the person gonna go crying to their friends and family, yknow, the people they said they didnt need?

thats what it's like with my best friend, they say they dont need anyone else, just their boyfriend, but everytime he fucks up they go crying about it to me, if he were to leave them, they'd go crying to me

is that really the only reason why they want me around?? to sit and listen to them talk about their issues and comfort them every time their boyfriend fucks up or isn't available??

We all know Alastor is great at seeing what people want most, what they fear, how their emotions can so easily be played. It’s how he got Charlie to make the deal when she knew she shouldn’t. He’s so good at knowing how to make people vulnerable and get under their skin.

There’s just so much ammo for Lucifer when he shows up. An absentee father, an even worse king, his entire family cast him from his home to burn forever and then his wife left him too, the one who was known for being capable. The fact Charlie is naive enough to see Alastor as a father figure as well just perfectly plays into it, and from the start, it seems so easy to get to Lucifer of all people. Someone who’s supposed to be so great, so easy to crumble with his ego and emotions.

Those initial interactions were a shock to Lucifer’s system. How dare a sinner speak to him with such open disrespect? What choice did he have but to fight fire with fire? (read: song battle)

But then the surprise of it all starts wearing off. He knows to expect it. He saw how broken Alastor was after fighting Adam, a reminder of just how fragile sinners’ souls are compared to that of a fallen seraphim. At the same time, Charlie had happily accepted Lucifer back into her life as her father. It’s not going to erase the years spent apart and his struggles with depression, but it’s a start. And he knows Alastor’s no real threat to him.

So at some point, Alastor’s jabs start being met with casualty, almost dismissively. It shifts from a playful annoyance like calling him short to something… well, cutting deeper. He doubles down upon how Lucifer abandoned his daughter, all so that he could hide with his toys, making himself a fool in his own nation.

Lucifer’s just making coffee. Saying that’s probably true, but Charlie is a kind soul who let him back into her life.

Not the reaction Alastor wanted again. So he pressed further, even blaming this dismissive attitude he had now as being why Lilith left. How could she have ever loved a man too scared to engage. She was always at the forefront of the show while he was too busy being buried in shame to be an even decent partner.

“One of many reasons, I’d guess”

It really irritates Alastor how much this isn’t getting to him. Lucifer had come to the hotel a terribly insecure man, so easy to mess with. And now, nothing?

Over the course of a week or so he keeps trying. And Lucifer just isn’t reacting. He cannot for the life of him figure out why. He knows everything he mentions is still an upset, it’s obvious in the way he talks with other people or the things he avoids, but it’s like he has some sort of verbal armor to Alastor’s attempts at drawing out a reaction from him.

The sad truth just ends up being that, whatever Alastor says, Lucifer’s said worse about himself. He’s had years to find every little detail about himself that could’ve been the catalyst for Lilith leaving, every little trait she likely despised for centuries, tearing apart the blurring memories of her face to see which expressions were genuine. Either everything about him, every step he’s made wrong, everything he’s lost or been forced to give up, he has a list of 20 things minimum as to why it’s all his fault. Alastor’s brutality is a toddlers insult compared to the things he thinks about himself.

The devil is madly depressed and just vibing his way through life ❤️

Hey! If you don’t mind answering a question, how exactly did Narinder help The Lamb with the harvest ritual (to the point that it did more then expected!) I thought that they had to be physically in contact for the power to be shared, but maybe I just missed something? Anyway, take care! Love the comic, and have a good day :]

It works the same ways how Narinder had to actively think good thoughts about the Lamb to be able to teleport in chapter 3, and how both of their powers are getting stronger through out the story. Example: Narinder used to have to touch the Lamb to be able to teleport, now he can do it on his own, and especially easier if they're just in the vicinity. This doesn't mean that touching doesn't increase the amount of power they output, but it's definitely more controllable and willing when they work together.

I think the best way I can describe it is:

Not touching and not getting along/working together = Fizzled out magic. The crown doesn't answer to the Lamb and Narinder's powers seem to fail him. There's a disconnection. See start of story.

Not touching but working together/getting along, or touching with the intent of making something work = Normal but can not be. Power can be focused and calculated accordingly. Both powers that be can contribute and essentially 'complete' whats needed. Varies greatly in application, often depending on their mood/willingness to help.

Exp: Narinder would instantly rot organic items in the start of the story, but he later manages not to do so when handling The Fox's offering in chap 6 until the Lamb says something that ruins his mood. He's still working on the control.

Think of your average trial and error of coming into their new predicament and learning to adjust.

Touching = Prone to accidents. Depending on if they're getting along or their fighting, this is either a really good thing and can be used normally, or a nuke waiting to deploy. Can be uncontrollable. It's why the flower suddenly grew for a second before wilting in chapter 14, and how they accidentally resurrected Jayen in chapter 2.

Something something they are always connected, regardless of touching (evident in how the dreams can bluetooth each other under special circumstance) but the severity of power falls to where in the timeline. The healing factor also benefits from this. Small things, but there's more planned as they progress. Think: Narinder inadvertently helping Lamb relax in a nightmare when he just touches their arm wondering if they're awake in chap 14.

Something something it's an amplifier as much as it was a key factor, just like their feelings can affect it. As powers progress in the story, they'll figure out some things on their own.

(And Narinder really, really wanted the harvest ritual to work out for the Lamb)

another reason i think that xie lian felt an instant connection on the ox cart is because he and hua cheng both grew up in xianle.

there are maybe 4 people still alive that grew up in that culture. based on my own experience, you can pick up on things like accent, cadence, references, and humor that suggest a person is from the same place as you without consciously noticing it. that sense of comfort and similarity probably played into their instant chemistry.
