I just now realised that the Feh calendar says that we're getting a legendary hero this month, despite getting one last month (Aka Legendary Robin)

Though it does make sense. We very randomly got 2 Mythic units back in January after all (Gotoh and Formortiis who we should be getting a free version of soon? Seeing as he won this year's AHR)

I'm both curious to see who this month's Legendary'll be... but seeing as we're about 2 weeks away from the baby banner and sometime afterwards the fallen banner (which just so happens to be my favourite banner), I'm really hoping it's not a character I'd want.

At the same time I have a bit of bad luck in accidentally predicting where characters I want appear in a future banner. So for all I know this month's legendary could be Male Corrin, Soren, or Male Shez. Like those are the only characters that'll make me summon on this month's legendary banner, I have zero interest in anyone else.

Rehab – Prologue

Series Summary: Thanks to Soldier Boy, the CIA was able to develop Project Bloom under the fierce leadership of Grace Mallory: a final cure to Compound V and a hopeful end to the supe epidemic three years after the explosive incident at Vought. A secret rehab facility in Upstate New York is supposed to help former heroes find their way back to humanity. The catch, though? Soldier Boy has never fucking agreed to any of this shit and is surely not happy about being powerless for the first time in his goddamn long life.

Prologue: rehab

“How are his latest test results?”

“Looking good, ma’am. His body is behaving exactly like we wanted it to. The Compound V is gone from his system after the third dose, and he’s recovering as expected. His vitals look very promising.”

“Good, good.” Grace Mallory nods at the young doctor in a white lab coat, a smirk playing across her thin lips as she looks at the unconscious fallen hero through the glass of his cryopod. “Wake him up and move him to the facility Upstate with the others,” she orders.

And so it happened that Soldier Boy was no longer a threat, the once most dangerous bomb on the planet defused, rendered harmless and impotent. These days, the former venomous snake was no more frightening than a toothless blindworm.

Y/N’s head lifts from the backgammon board in front of her and drifts to the commotion streaming in from the hall as the high-security metal entrance doors of the facility fly wide open. Curiously, she rises from her lounge chair, abandoning her winning match against her companion, and stalks closer, leaning against a concrete column. Three CIA agents hold down and wrangle with a furiously screaming man – broad-shouldered, longer sandy-blond hair, and neatly trimmed beard. They push him inside with all the strength they can muster while the guy in agony fights tooth and nail against the restraining arms around him.

“LET ME GO! I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU ALL! NO! NO! GET ME THE FUCK OUTTA HERE! YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME! NOOOO! DON’T YOU KNOW WHO THE FUCK I AM?! YOU FUCKING BITCH! I’LL FUCKING END YOU FOR WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO ME!”

Y/N, however, is not so surprised by that circumstance. After all, the guy’s not the first person that has ever tried to fight his way out of supe rehab. It happens all the time. In fact, she might be one of the few that actually came here willingly. Her brow significantly raises, though, as Grace Mallory strolls in behind the four men. Officially retired from the CIA but still in charge of Project Bloom, she only comes along for the special cases, the big fish, and as Y/N squints her eyes and takes a closer look at the newest arrival, her heart completely stops and drops to her slippers on the ivory linoleum.

“Is that–” She stumps, not daring to say the supe’s name aloud.

“Ben, yes,” Mallory nods and smiles, enjoying the struggle a little too much, her eyes practically fixated on the green-eyed man. “Of course, you might know him only as Soldier Boy.”

Y/N’s breath hitches in her throat. So it really is him. The sole reason why she’s here, the greatest superhero that ever lived who was captured and brainwashed by the commies – or so Vought claims. She’s never met him personally before today, but Soldier Boy’s surely been on the news a lot in recent years – the radioactive hero and his killing sprees. Whispered rumors among supes even say he fathered Homelander, which, if true, is just a blatant crime against humanity in and of itself.

“Do me a favor, Y/N? You’re our most experienced patient here – take him under your wing, make sure he adjusts and stays out of trouble,” Mallory says, albeit it’s unmistakably meant as an order. The CIA doesn’t do nicely phrased requests.

“Alright,” Y/N nods resolutely, hoping the former CIA deputy director doesn’t notice the thick swallow that drips down her throat. Her eyes swerve back to the man in question, one of the doctors forcefully ramming a needle into his jugular as the hero screams at the top of his lungs before his bowed legs give in. The violent green eyes lose their fight and close, and he succumbs to the linoleum with a loud thud worthy of his massive stature. “Is that really necessary?”

Y/N always hates when they sedate someone. After all, the clinic is supposed to help people, not necessarily torture them, albeit the CIA often shares a different view than her.

Mallory just scoffs darkly. “It is. Trust me. He’s a handful,” she notes condescendingly and rolls her eyes. “You have your work cut out for you with this moronic bastard. Don’t fall for his charm, and if he becomes dangerous, shoot him in the head. I trust your judgment.”

Y/N’s stomach churns at her words, watching as the former hero’s lifeless body gets dragged down the hallway into a room, the door locking behind him. And while she knows Soldier Boy is no innocent angel, she can’t help the sympathy that permeates her heart.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

First of all this goes for every single one of them and my individual answers might overlap with this we’ll see. I love how much they’ve all grown and persevered! They’ve been through so fucking much both together as a team and separately and have come out on the other side of it. They were kids!! They made bunk beds and had food fights and were starting to figure out the types of people they wanted to be and then got thrust into Remnant’s Worst Divorce™️ and throughout all of it have only grown closer as a team (not friends family!!) and still have hope that they can make the world a better place (Keep moving forward!!!) (They all need therapy tho fr)

Ruby: she’s perfect just the way she is!! This is supposed to be about the canon things I love about these character but god do I want Ruby to see herself as an individual separate from Summer. I think she’s getting there after her talk with the blacksmith. She’s just so accepting of people without hesitation. Penny is a robot? Don’t care new best friend. Little is a talking mouse? Don’t care new best friend pt 2. I’m sure there’s other examples but she’s always so ready to just let people be who they are and I wish she’d give herself that same grace

Also I love that she’s canonically a fairly well known (at least in atlas) singer. Now I’m not sure she’d do that by choice based on what we saw in v4 but it’s super cool that that This Life is Mine is canon to remnant because of that. Also Jacques made her sing and she was like alright bet and then roasted him in song on stage in front of all those people and we don’t talk about that enough I think

Blake: I say that’s my baby and I’m really proud

Blake tells Sun she joined the white fang 5 years ago in v2. She was TWELVE she was a BABY!! If I had to give Blake a word the way she gives others a word it would be conviction. She never gives up on what she believes in. And she does her best to support others in doing the same, in v7 she tried to encourage ironwood and in v9 she tried to encourage Ruby poor girl got shut down both times but she tried!!

I also love how Blake is canonically a good artist and would like to see more of that. crwby show us a drawing Blake made of Yang

She goes to any and every length to protect the people she loves even if it’s to her own detriment (which someone really needs to have a conversation with her about) the Yellow Trailer tells us straight away that there’s more to her than meets the eye and yet there are people who fell into that trap anyway and criticize her character for “not being fun anymore” as if that isn’t the point!!

She’s so confident and cocky until a pretty girl Blake flirts with her I love the disaster lesbian representation.

well, ive learned how to code like in those games, and i started mapping this game out while i was still in germany, and now its way too big.

LONG STORY SHORT, BECAUSE ITS LONG LONG LONG, you're a witch (meant gender-neutrally) with 3 different powers to choose from (9 in total, but you can only get a combination of 3 out of those 9 in one playthrough). then you also have 4 different backstories tied into a crime you commited, which you can pick one of six different options. then you get to pick if you had magic in your origins. YOU CAN ALSO PICK 6 DIFFERENT FAMILY SITUATIONS YOU HAD.

THATS JUST THE SHIT IVE CODED SO FAR.

you also get to pick what animal your familiar is, you get 11 love interests (Spread over three games tho), and im having fun coding in stupid ass achievements you can get too.

but plotwise? you're a witch on the run when you get caught up in something nasty happening in the nearby town. its kinda... low fantasy regency era degeneracy because i love sexual repression.

Motor shop to fix the bikes! Shinichiro can be found there with other BD members :)! (for some reasons, Mikey doesn't like it when Baji and Kazutora are there, so they have to find alternatives to fix their bikes (most of the time they ask another party member to take their bike))

Somehow, Manjiro subconsciously remember the story of Taiyaki-kun so there's a lake where Taiyaki-kun lives (he wants to leave but he can't :( )

It's the dreamworld so everyone is happy and has good relationships with everyone else

Somwhere there's a plane. It doesn't fly, but it's there, lying on the ground. It mustn't broke. (when it does, it leads to Blackspace) (Sanzu always tries to lead Mikey here)

Manjiro/Mikey don't fear a lot of things but things that may upset/trigger them are: mirrors/any type of reflection; whenever he sees a plane (won't make him go back to Whitespace but it's really close sometimes); (people needing to go to the) hospitals (no matter if it's bc they're sick or badly hurt) & probably other things but they don't come to mind sorry

Mikey's 'Something' is just.. everyone. They're all horrifying in a different way, but each person Mikey has failed haunts him (emphasis on Izana & Senju during Bonten)

The Somethings telling him 'I love you' in Blackspace 🥹

Important flowers would be black lilies (curse), and red and white spider lilies at the very end :) (Red spider lilies symbolizing the inability to meet again, farewell, death, loss, abandonment and White spider lilies symbolizing rebirth, meeting (anew), purity)

Also poppies since in Hanakotoba they can symbolize fun-loving and success, and in the more Western flower language they symbolize peaceful sleep and death, remembrance/remembering the fallen and renewal/resurrection among other things

(not a flower professional - just did some google researches so be careful with what I'm saying)

Mikey goes in and out of it; he never chooses if he pops up in Whitespace, Dreamworld or Blackspace. It depends on how is his mind irl. There are also some places where he can directly enter it (ex: whenever the Concorde is broken)

Haruchiyo keeps dying. Or having his lower jaw removed out of nowhere (also happens in headspace -> leads Mikey to go back to Whitespace on the spot)

If we do put Peke-j in this AU as Mewo replacement, which choice do you think Mikey would make in the Cat dissection room with our dear mister the Cat Butler? /genuine

The three first timeline are very similar. Senju and Haruchiyo/Sanzu have a lesser role here. In the 3rd/Bad Toman, Kazutora is here and is hurt less by Mikey (whereas if he ever is present in the two firsts, Mikey won't be merciful)

Manila:

"You loved them and you killed them. You should just die." — hits more in this timeline than any other

Rather than Manjiro completely loosing against Mikey; there's a feeling of acceptance at the end of their fight from both parts. They can't go back, but they can't go further either.

Plus, Manjiro never fought for a will to live to start with

Actually I'm not sure if there'd be a fight to start with

Izana, S62 & Kakucho are not present in the headspace of this timeline

Bonten:

there's an entire space dedicated to Senju and Izana. It's filled with always-falling snow and everlasting sakura; the party can make snowmen and other snow constructions! There's a pond with a giant majestic beta fish somewhere, too (maybe it could interact with Taiyaki-kun, maybe not)

Edit: They live in a snow castle

those two are either safe in this place (*cough* until the snow and sakura start to get tainted by blood out of nowhere and they disappear and the flowers wilt *cough* The snow melts a bit under the warmth of blood and suddenly it's less a childhood joy and more just... Hellishly cold. bc the cold refuses to leave ofc *cough*) or with Shinichiro and Emma on the picnic blanket. Kakucho is always found around Izana so he can be found in the snow, too! (He's the one staying there when Izana & Senju disappear; he's panicking and extremely worried)

It is a massive Hyrule, espically when you think about just how long it takes to get across each of them in-game. Wild's game it actually takes so long to get across even just Hyrule field.

I was thinking about it tho... And the sailcloths they are identical. And we know they are married...

What if the sailcloths are a sign of marriage in this universe? Why else would they both have the same one, down to the blue outline on the edge that is closest to them. Like you give your lover a meaningful symbol to show your love for them, and in Sky's case he made a sailcloth for sun after she made the one he's wearing for him during the events of Skyward sword.

I think its the same one because his one looks significantly bigger than hers, which to me tells of a practical use as well as a decorative or symbolic piece. 332

Have I mentioned how much I love Captain? Cause he is just so chill, but also professional. Professionally chill? Sure.

I can see a stressful situation coming up, and he just is the stoic leader who gets everyone in line and ready to fight the threat.

And flower, Who is just so sweet. I can understand not wanting to be referred to as princess now that their Hyrule is like how it is. I'm surprised this hasn't come up sooner. But it's cute.

Oh the silent princess. How symbolic you are.

I know people are not really into the flower thing but I am, you think we will see some nightshade at one point?

The flower.

The 2 flower heads, one open, one closed, The blue into white. With the yellow detail. It's Flowers colour pallet to a T and I love it. Maybe as we progress through the story we will see pictures of the silent princess again but with a flowering bud or maybe if something bad happens a slightly sad looking one?

I am obsessed with symbolism, so if those become a thing watch this space cause I will be excited about it!

(In fact looking at it I think, the stem in the middle and the yellow on her clothes are colour-matched. A nice detail!)

Synopsis: The gate at the bottom of Lover’s Lake was meant to spit the quartet out in the Upside Down. Steve, Nancy, and Robin were meant to be there. He wasn’t meant to be alone. But when Eddie comes to on the shoreline, you’re there. It’s not the Upside Down. It’s not Lover’s Lake. It’s not 1986.

By the time you and Eddie had fallen asleep, it was a little after three in the morning. Naturally then, you both slept late.

There was no work to rush off to when you woke. It annoyed you about yourself, that you’d only let the breakdowns happen when it was convenient. You’d only stay up late, mourning or anxious, when your calendar said you had space to do so.

Sometimes you thought it meant you were faking, but if that were the case – to what end? There was never an audience to your sadness.

As you rubbed the sleep from your eyes, you looked over at Eddie. He was still in a deep state of sleep, which you were grateful for.

Pulling your laptop onto your lap, you started to read through all the articles you could find about Hawkins in the 80s, and about Eddie. It was a rabbit hole. Everybody had a theory about what happened to the murdered teens and to Eddie. Even before ’86 there were deaths, though. The extent of the suffering seemed almost immeasurable.

It made sense that Hawkins had wanted to move on from the grief and trauma, but you found some indignation bubbling inside you at how easily it was all covered up and forgotten.

Putting righteousness aside, you started a list in Sticky Notes of actions to get Eddie home.

Talk to mum and uncle g.

Find old friends?

Find another ‘gate’ (what is a gate tho?)

An hour or so later, Eddie groaned and rolled over, pulling the blanket up over his head.

“Hey,” you greeted, throwing a pillow at him.

Slowly, he emerged, sitting up and looking around. You imagined it was how he looked when he woke from a bad trip.

“Yeah,” you started again, “You’re still here.”

Eddie smiled, more of a grimace really. “Got any leads?” he asked, noticing the laptop in front of you.

Leaning back against the headboard of your bed, you shrugged.

“No leads, but some ideas. I’ve got something for you to watch too. Come here.”

Eddie followed your instructions, leaving the warmth of his sofa bed. He was polite, sitting on top of the quilt.

“Here,” you ordered, opening up the blanket to let him climb in. “So, there’s this super famous comic book movie. Hero ends up in the future but he’s from the 40s. Fans like to make videos of like, all the stuff he missed. Pretend it’s what they’d show him if they could. I found a good one. You’ll know the 40s to 80s stuff, but the second half will be useful for you,” you explained, almost getting stuck on how unbelievable what you’d said was.

“Captain America,” Eddie said.

“You know him?”

“Not my thing, but yeah…” he replied, voice trailing off as you handed him the laptop.

As Eddie watched the YouTube video, created by user stucky_mothman, you looked through drawers for your old phone. When you upgraded, you could have saved money by trading in or selling, but you’d never got over the fear that someone would somehow hack your entire life through the thing.

“Gotcha!” you said to yourself, finding the scratched-up thing in the same drawer as about three HDMI cables, five old tangled headphones, and unlimited cotton tips. There was more junk in there, but you squashed it all down to close the drawer.

The phone still worked, and when connected to your WiFi, could be used to access apps. Apps like UberEats.

“You hungry?” you asked Eddie.

“There’s still food? No pills to replace all your nutritional needs?” he replied, not looking away from the screen.

“I mean… There kind of is. But some of us still like the real deal. If McDonald's can be counted as real,”

“McDonald's?” Eddie asked. “I know McDonald's,”

“You and the rest of the world. We can order from the breakfast menu if we’re quick.”

He glanced over at you; his eyebrows knitted together. “You want to go out to McDonald's? What happened to laying low?”

“No, no, the food comes to us,” you explained, holding your old phone up and shaking it. “I order it. It arrives here. Magic.”

Two serves of hotcakes, hashbrowns, and egg McMuffins later, you both felt a lot better. Eddie downed his black coffee faster than what should be legal. You sipped at your chai latte, ignoring his judgmental expressions.

“I think you should tell me everything. Start to finish,” you eventually tried, watching him learn to Google and then go on a mad Wikipedia spiral. He didn’t reply. “It all sounds… fucked up… to say the least. I get that. But… I’m kind of out on a limb here, so a little context might be helpful.”

Eddie was right; the story he told sounded too fantastical to be reality. However, yet again you found yourself firmly in the belief camp, taking note of anything in his account that felt like some sort of clue to how to return him home.

“I’ve got two ideas,” you said when his story brought him to sitting on your bed.

“Dustin?” Eddie ventured.

“Yeah. I know you said he’s a butthead, but he also sounds like a child genius. We find him, we find the others, we find your way home.”

Eddie rolled off the bed in almost a perfect backward somersault. He began to pace, nodding, holding his face in his hands.

“Yeah. Yeah. This makes sense. Henderson is a know-it-all, but ya know, he does know it all. He’ll know what to do. And he’s gotta be like, an adult now, right? Maybe he’s less… of a butthead,”

“He was a freshman, right? That makes him…” You did the math in your head. “Fifty,”

“Fifty?!” Eddie repeated, his voice rising a couple octaves. “Jesus… So, he might be dead.”

You laughed. “Bleak. Fifty isn’t that old,”

“But like, there’s so much shit that’s happened since then. If there was any more monsters of the week, you’ve got to bet the kid was there. And not to state the obvious but there’s been so much… bad…”

Maybe letting Eddie catch up on history wasn’t the best idea. The good ol’ U. S. of A. had definitely seen its fair share of bloodshed and discordance since 1986. And, with Dustin’s resume, it didn’t seem likely that he would become risk adverse as he grew older.

“I’m gonna say it again. We should ask mum,”

Eddie stopped pacing, stood with his hands on his hips and sighed. Dramatic. “What’s her name?”

You told him, described her and the limited information you had about her childhood and adolescence.

Eddie shrugged. “Don’t think I know her. Sounds like most of the girls that go to Hawkins’,” he said.

It was true. Your mother only really blossomed once she was away from the town. It was your father that helped her to open up and learn to just be a person. She’d never told you why Hawkins had seemingly sucked the soul from her, but given the new information, you’d formed a pretty solid idea.

 And, your uncle was an absolute vault.

The one time you tried to ask him about what it was like, your mother pulled you aside, telling you to never try the conversation again. In hindsight, and the benefit of hearing Eddie’s story, you could see why. Maybe he was one of the barely-lucky bystanders to all the doom and gloom. Scarred him for life. Maybe he was friends with Chrissy or Fred or Patrick.

You knew your uncle had come out much later in life, in his late 30s or early 40s maybe. Being a closeted queer kid in a town like Hawkins must have been hard enough, then add the fuckary of the supernatural to the mix. You didn’t begrudge him for not talking about any of it.

“What was your second idea?” Eddie asked.

“Find a gate,”

“How?”

“No idea. We could check the lake again?” you suggested.

“That godforsaken lake,” he mumbled, back to pacing.

Eddie lost himself in thought easily, you observed. If you were to swap places, you’d probably have a lot to ponder too. He was a spitfire of a person, but his anxiety tempered his nature.

You could tell by the way he spoke of Dustin and the others that he had a deep fondness for them. Separated less than twenty-four hours, there was pining. You wondered how they had handled his disappearance.

“Alright. Let’s find him,” you announced, returning to your laptop.

It didn’t take long.

Dustin had been right there for the explosion of the world wide web. He’d been to every corner of it, the good, the bad, the ugly. And, much to your current advantage, he blogged his way through the 90s and 00s. There wasn’t a lot of new content, but he still updated his audience (which seemed to be somewhat prolific) every now and then.

“We can send him a message. Get him to Zoom or Skype us or something,”

“Zoom… or Skype?”

After much deliberation, it was decided the message to Dustin would be simple. Short. An invitation more than anything else.

Henderson – The Shire is still burning. I’m trapped in Mordor. S.O.S. – Eddie the Banished.

“He’ll understand it?”

“He’ll get it,” Eddie assured you. “He’ll get it.”

…

You’d left Eddie alone in the pool house while you drove back to Lake Hopewell. There were some people out and about, but it was mostly quiet down by the water. In more appropriate swimwear than your last visit, you waded in, waterproof torch in hand, and spent the better part of an hour searching for anything that vaguely matched Eddie’s description of a gate.

He’d never really been alone in a girl’s bedroom before. Woman, Eddie corrected himself. You’d graduated high school, bettering him with apparent ease. You were smart.

You were also kind.

And pretty.

And smelt like clean.

Eddie smacked his own face. It wasn’t the fucking time to get a crush. He was going to be out of there as soon as he could.

Still, he curled up in your bed, curating himself Spotify playlists he’d probably never get time to listen to. He was comfortable, and if it wasn’t for the time travel bullshit, he would have been happy too.

All he needed was a little dope and he would be more than fine.

Then,

ONE (1) NEW EMAIL: ZOOM: Eddie?!

…

The bottom of the lake revealed only the pollution of a small town and some vaguely suspicious bones. It was a dead end and you felt nervous to deliver the news to Eddie.

You wondered what he was doing in your absence. Would he go through all your stuff? Sleep through the silence?

An intrusive thought flung itself into your frontal lobe. Did he Google porn yet? Eddie wouldn’t know about browsing history. You could revisit every click, if you wanted to. Shaking your head, you tried not to think of sex. Or Eddie. Or sex and Eddie.

The drive home felt longer than it ever had before.

…

Eddie had wrapped himself in a blanket and it looked like a furry cape. He was staring at the screen, his hands in front of him, fingertips to fingertips. As soon as you walked through the door, he was up.

With the laptop set upon the bar, you took a seat on one of the stools and nodded at Eddie. He couldn’t sit still, so he stood next to you, leaning against the bar, but remaining close enough to you that you could feel him vibrating on the spot.

“You okay? You ready?” you asked him.

He looked at you. His eyes sparkled with hope and it melted your heart just a little. You weren’t ready to see him crumble, if it was going to come to that.

Eddie nodded, then held out a hand. You took it, letting him thread his fingers through yours.

Dustin Henderson - fifty-one-years old, head full of curly hair, a warm smile – began to cry. You could see he had tried to stop himself, but he saw Eddie. Eddie from 1986. His friend. Innocent Eddie Munson. He couldn’t help it.

His wife, Suzie, came to offer emotional support.

“How…” Dustin tried, but was at a loss for words. Something Eddie reminded him he hardly ever was.

“I followed them down, man. Saw Wheeler and Buckley go straight through. My turn and it just spat out here,” Eddie explained.

You sat quietly while Dustin and Eddie talked, updated, and theorised. Essentially, they spoke in a language you did not understand. There was no grand reveal of a solution though.

“Let me… Let me assemble the Avengers and we’ll figure it out, okay?” Dustin said, already looking tired.

“Yeah, yeah, man. Okay,”

“We got you, Eddie. No man gets left behind.”

…

After the call, you let Eddie process. He crawled back into your bed, taking the laptop with him. He had moved on from Spotify to IMDb. He’d opened dozens of Chrome windows, each one showing the page of a movie he wanted to watch. You were going to show him how to make a watchlist, or at least how to open new tabs instead of windows, but decided to leave him be. He was settled.

In the kitchenette, you made cheese toasties, bringing a plate over to Eddie. He barely came out of the blanket cocoon to nibble at it like a mouse.

“You’re…” you started. Eddie glanced up at you. Those goddamn big brown eyes twinkling at you. “How could anyway think you’re dangerous?”

You liked the way he smiled up at you. Shrugging, he took another bite.

“This is good,”

“Secret ingredient is paprika,” you told him.

“Paprika!” Eddie repeated, in a spot-on impression of Yoda.

Suddenly, everything dropped away. Your search for momentary oblivion. The time traveler. Any other problems in your head. All of it. Insignificant.

Eddie had asked about Star Wars. He quoted Yoda. But he didn’t know about…

“Move,” you said, pushing Eddie over in the bed, almost sending his toastie flying. “I have to show you something.”

Star Wars-wise, you probably wouldn’t have jumped straight to The Mandalorian when introducing Eddie to new content, but the audible gasp when he saw Grogu for the first time was worth it.

“Baby Yoda…” Eddie marveled. You watched him, watched the gooey expression of pure love form across his face.

Ludwig Göransson’s score played as Eddie’s gaze turned to you, where you had been wrapped in the blanket cocoon, like you’d not met Eddie only the day prior.

“You’ve changed my life,” he whispered, his nose scrunching up in happiness.

“Yeah… He made a big impact. He was probably the most famous face in the world for a while there,”

“No way. Star Wars is cool?”

“Star Wars is very cool now… Actually, I reckon they’d be a lot of things that are cool that weren’t in the 80s or even 90s,” you said, thinking of all the things that had found their way to the height of popularity, while previously resulting in casual school bullying.

Eddie sat up, a serious expression on his face. “You’re telling me, I might be cool now?” He said it like it was the worst thing he could be.

“Probably. You’re very… aesthetic,” you told him, gesturing vaguely at him. “And, like, Dungeons and Dragons, right, that’s like… not super mainstream, but is pretty popular. There’s a T. V. show based on a game of it these people on the internet played,”

“Campaign,” Eddie corrected.

You laughed at his seriousness. “Okay. Well, there’s that. There’s the Lord of the Rings show that’s com-”

“LORD OF THE RINGS?”

…

“Henderson, why didn’t you tell me about Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings?” Eddie demanded as soon as Dustin’s face appeared on the laptop screen.

Dustin had called back only a few hours after their first Zoom meeting.

Laughing, Dustin replied, “Yeah, my kid took my first editions for show and tell and was the coolest kid in class for a while,”

“Your kid?!” Eddie squeaked. It absolutely freaked him out that his freshmen friends were all grown up with children of their own.

Dustin nodded, then started roll call.

Lucas Sinclair and his family lived not too far from Dustin.

Max Mayfield started off by sending irregular postcards from wherever in the world she was. Eventually, those turned to emails. Then Instagram stories for Close Friends only.  

Robin Buckley moved to San Francisco with Steve Harrington after graduating. They’d both found love, found families, and saw each other often. Dustin’s kids and Steve’s online gamed together.

“They’re all closer to me than Hawkins, except Max. We’ll meet here and come up with a plan, then come to you,” Dustin said.

“What about the others? Where’s Wheeler?” Eddie asked.

Dustin hesitated.

They’d lost friends along the way.

After Eddie vanished through the gate, and they’d barely held on to Max, the group called in the California crew, who were already doing their best to help. They’d all met back up in Hawkins, sorely unprepared to take on Vecna.

“Mike… He… We couldn’t save him. Then El just… It wasn’t meant to go down the way it did, man. There was no stopping her.”

Eleven, the girl with superpowers, had stopped Vecna from killing again. She slayed the evil and stopped it from returning to Hawkins ever again. She’d died in the process, so fraught with grief and rage that she left no way back for herself.

After that, families left Hawkins.

Nancy Wheeler was out of there by ’87. She was a journalist in New York with hardly any connections to her childhood town or the people in it. Dustin said the pain almost swallowed her whole. He was still trying to get a hold of her.

Will and Jonathan Byers left in the same year, and they’d not stayed in touch. Dustin went quiet then. None of it was easy to say.

“Will… He died in… would have been ’01 or ’02. Haven’t talked to his brother since then.”

Eddie was attentive, nodding. Whatever happened back then, you thought, it had clearly fucked all these kids up for life. It was a miracle there were any of them left, all those years later.

“Dustin, listen,” Eddie began. Before he was spat out in 2022, Eddie had only known about the monsters for a couple of days. He’d only had those couple days of nightmares and worry. Yet, he had felt like he was on the verge of total breakdown. “Don’t… I don’t know, man. I don’t want to drag you all back into this bullshit. I can figure it out on my own,”

“Eddie, no man gets left behind. I told you that… We don’t need you or Steve to look after us anymore. Besides, it’s not like the Mind Flayer is after you. It’s just time travel, right?”

Eddie snorted. “Only Dustin Henderson could say ‘just’ time travel,”

“Sorry to interrupt,” you said from the bar stool next to Eddie. “But the fucking Mind what now?”

“How you doing with all this?” Dustin directed at you. “If I remember right, Eddie took it surprisingly well when he found out about everything,”

“I mean…” You shrugged. “I’m alright. Biggest risk is that I took home a serial killer,”

“I would kill my kids myself if they did what you did,” Dustin said.

“Are you joking, man?!” Eddie yelled. “Do your kids know what you got up to when you were fifteen?”

Eddie and Dustin talked a little more, trying to not leave the conversation in the depths of sadness. Whatever bond they’d had in 1986 seemed to be still alive. Even as an adult, Dustin had a childlike sense of wonder and he wore his heart on his sleeve. No matter what the consequences, he wasn’t going to leave Eddie stuck.

It was time to start a new campaign, and he had all the players on their way back to Hawkins.

End Note: Grogu. Grogu. Grogu. The Star Wars was pretty self-serving on my part, so forgive me. Also forgive me if I’ve killed off your fav, but there’s no way they all made it out of Hawkins. Those that did… they’d always be missing something. That shit was fucked.

Primarily Fallen Hero, with a dash of TWC and some other fandoms sprinkled in my WIPS but I've been on Fallen Hero brainrot for a long time now so the other fandoms are currently neglected.

HA. you want me to pick??? Ok hrm. maybe bath(toaster)tub? anamnesis also has so me pretty angsty pieces in there.

PFFF. ok gotta. go look for this one. Maybe sargasso sea, though it's technically not the last iteration in its series between a continued plotline hinted out in after the fall and a third part planned for its series.

Not yet! I think.

(slaps brain) this bad boy can generate so much smut. I write pretty much any kind? Soft, rough, indulgent, M/M, F/M, F/F, other any everything, kinky or emotional, etc. Just whatever strikes me at the time, but most just dont get published bc I'm mid.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I typically HATE crossover fics they just aren't my thing I do write AUs of X story set in X story's universe, just haven't published them (wait does that still count as a crossover).

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nah, considered it once tho.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope! Haven't found someone with the vibe ig, it's just never crossed my mind to co-write a fic and just never been asked too.

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

(cue strained breath) i have no all time favorites BUT. but. Ricardo/Wei gets me SO soft ok. i just. unrequited years long attraction finally requited and i. AAAAA. place sidestep in there too and i'm just so happy. i need poly rep in my life sometimes ok.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I stare into the google docs hell and ask you how you could expect me to pick one but. BUT. Praeludium//Allegro. A piece meant to dive in how Sidestep is able to experience the moment someone dies through their mind.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Shorter pieces! They tend to be about ~2000-5000 words per part, that's usually when I feel I've done my best. I'm also. Decent at NSFW writing? Sometimes, at least.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Definitely long fics. I had a plan for freefall and have scrapped and adapted it multiple times now, pus it's just difficult to keep myself interested in specific but necessary chapters.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

It's fun! I've included Spanish and Russian excerpts into my fics before but I don't do it a lot. Considered writing fully in Spanish at some point for an Ortega POV but I'm not confident in my grammar abilities. Spanish verb tenses my beloathed.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Naruto. On a different old account best left to gather dust.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Hm, I'm not sure if I have a favorite. I do really like the NSFW piece I wrote from Remy's POV, though. Short but good.

I was just on Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland and thought, “a pirate romance would be great right about now.” Any recs? Thank you!

I dooo--these aren't really true-blue Golden Age of Piracy PIRATE PIRATE recs because a lot of those are *quite* old and *quite* problematic even by my standards... And I mean, that era of piracy is kind of inherently rough because piracy like, directly intersected with the slave trade, among other things, etc.

If you're open to something more magical and whimsical, I would absolutely recommend India Holton's The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels and The League of Gentlewoman Witches. They're set in a Victorian world populated by thieves and witches and pirates who fly like, airships. They're SO funny and sexy and romantic, but they still hav stakes, too. I actually find the heroes of both books very piratey. One is like, a charmer sort of like, borderline himbo, and the other is one of the slickest heroes I've ever read. Both are great, Gentlewoman Witches edges out the first for me juuust a little because of how the sex in that one works. She's just like "I am very stressed" and he's like "I have a solution". At one point they're just jacking/fingering each other while steering the ship lmao.

Scandalous Desires by Elizabeth Hoyt OF COURSE. Charming Mickey O'Connor (one of the greatest hero names of all time sorry) is a river pirate. He's very successful, very dangerous, and has an incredibly OTT accent that Elizabeth Hoyt sells because it's Elizabeth Hoyt and she can sell almost anything. His heroine is a Quaker widow who ends up trapped on his ship because he, GET THIS, left his bastard infant daughter on her orphanage doorstep, and a year later, after she's fallen in love with this baby, shows up like "SO YEAH WE'RE IN DANGER AND I CAN'T HAVE PEOPLE USING SHIT AGAINST ME SO I WANT THAT BABY BACK EVEN THO IDGAF ABOUT IT". And Silence is like well if you're taking the baby you're taking ME too. And so he does.

The Hawk by Monica McCarty has a medieval hero who's like, a lord and shit, but also very much a self-acknowledged pirate. He's always swimming naked and using his piratical ways to do spy shit for Robert the Bruce. His heroine is an uptight Irish noblewoman he literally fishes out of the sea. This is indeed the "they fuck on a raft in the middle of a storm because the storm makes her anxious" book.

How to Tame a Wild Rogue by Julie Anne Long has a hero who's a privateer, which is BASICALLY THE SAME THING LBR. The action doesn't really take place on the ship, because he and the heroine end up in the same room at this boarding house during a once in a lifetime storm (it's like a bottle episode romance, it's really fascinating) but he's still got that pirate charm. She's a spinster and has kinda missed out on life. At one point they play this weird old-timey game to pass the time and it gets oddly sexual, which is such a Julie Anne Long thing.

Shadowheart by Laura Kinsale. Allegreto is, while also being an assassin and political mover and shaker, a pirate on the side. Part of the book does take place on a ship, I believe, and the interesting thing is that it also takes place, in part, in VENICE, so you get the whole canal life. Allegreto is legit crazy. TW: noncon for the first encounter, one of those forced consummation things because he needs the heroine to marry him as a part of his Evil Plot.

(Sidebar: I always find this scene so interesting, because it is very obviously noncon, but in a way that I think is period-accurate she sort of is like more mad about her virginity being gone? Because she needs that for marital and political reasons? And she also realizes that he SUPER got off on her biting him, and he's shaken because she really wasn't supposed to know that he was into that, and SHE begins to connect the dotes re: his sexual inclinations, in that he wants her to dominate him, which is a major weakness of his.)

Lord of Temptation by Lorraine Heath. The hero's brother basically sold him--he was willing--to piratey types when they were young teens because they were on the run from their evil uncle. So he grew up and became this well known captain/pirate. Now he's sort of integrated back into polite society, but he doesn't want it, so he goes out to sea and ends up escorting the heroine when she's on the way to see her fiancee. Cue sex on a boat. This one is really fun because it gives major ILLICIT AFFAIRS.

Any Duke in a Storm by Amalie Howard. Arguably the most traditional piratey one here. The heroine is actually a spy, but she has this pirate identity and is very cold and fierce. The hero (who naturally is both piratey and a duke) becomes her first mate (or something like that) and she actually thinks he's a part of the illegal operation she's trying to bust. HOWEVER, things get complicated because he's wildly attracted to her and trying to get into her pants. There is indeed a fight where she ends up on top of him and realizes he's massively hard and there are like 12 pirates watching.

Alright I did it Ranking the human characters from Primal Rage: The Avatars from least to most mischaracterized to me personally:

--Kaze and Keena They're kinda just genetic "protagonist hero" and "girl" I do like a lot of moments they had overall and dont think their characters are bad for them Keena having a crush on Kaze wasn't terrible since it obviously wasn't reciprocated but I did HATE the long bit of Keena fretting about "never feeling the touch of a man" she's 15 bro she's not thinking about that pls fuck off I do think it was lacking a lot in Keena being a child (and they kinda cop-out of doing that by saying she like matured by magic after becoming an Avatar which is lame) I don't really have that much to say in general about Kaze. I thought he was fine for being the "main character" The other characters joking about him being WAY too loyal to Blizzard (to the point of joking he wanted to fuck him) was honestly really funny tho

--Shank hard for me to fault much cause like he isnt in the book a whole lot? but I do wish they'd done more with him… he's just kinda there, does his thing, and then goes away Spoilers kinda but it was really weird that he gave a false name when he met them and then like Keena just out of no where was like "what's your real name?!" and then Malyssa knew who he was?? which I guess was the point that he hid his name so they wouldn't realize he was Chaos but they also never brought up that Malyssa knew who he was?

--Sinjin on the one hand I think Sinjin's character was kinda fun. He is sassy and a bit quippy (really like his line when all the gods got together and were roaring at each other and he just says "one big happy family…" its just so silly of him I love it) They made it a point of how good he was at rallying troops behind him and like giving these passionate speeches which is kinda fun for him to be charismatic like that but it really feels like character moments that should have been for Arik?? The book didn't even bother bringing up his want to die (I dont remember if it even brought up he was immortal? I dont think they did) that annoyed me but REALLY annoyed me when he had the line while giving a speech to the soldiers and said "we have the will to live!" made me yell HE WOULD NOT FUCKING SAY THAT!! his personal motives are just kinda dropped after a while too? like he started out playing both sides (the other Avatars and Necrosan) but that doesnt really go anywhere and once he gets the powers of being an avatar it seems like he's going to betray the Avatars because he doesnt want to release Diablo again but it just never happens? they have a lead in like he's planning something but Tor and Arik show up and he just never tries any kind of backup plan or anything? he's just fully helping the Avatars to beat Necrosan and release the gods

--Arik, Tor, Xiao Ming Im lumping all 3 together because they are honestly interchangeable in the book you could just swap the names and it wouldnt make a difference because they arent given enough character to stand out. which is a real shame! especially for Arik and Xiao Ming because I think they have a lot of interesting character possibilities with what we get from the game:

Arik is a fallen prince who wants to rebuild his kingdom and in his game ending it says how he became a greatly loved king who was known for his compassion and wisdom. He establishes a new age of peace and prosperity for humanity and its a shame the book just doesn't touch on that at all I mean they mention he's a prince but not any of his wants to help humanity

Xiao Ming is an arrogant fighter who challenged the god Slashfang to a fight and lost. Shashfang doesnt kill him tho and instead makes him his avatar in his ending he rechallenges Slashfang who says instead of a fight Xiao Ming must hunt him down He fails at this as well but over his time traveling gains a sense of humility and peace

So I always pictured his relationship with Slashfang being more bitter? it says how Xiao Ming is "disfigured" by his earlier fight with Slashfang and I dont think he was really a willing follower?? Slashfang is more trying to teach him a lesson in the book tho he's just a guy, given no sense of arrogance or anything he's just there and hanging out with Slashfang like whatever. it did annoy me too cause there was a bit where Xiao Ming and Keena think Kaze betrayed them and Keena is the one going off about what a jerk he is and shit and Xiao Ming is the one like "no he wouldnt do that would he?" when I think it should have been switched with Xiao Ming shit talking Kaze for betraying them

I did laugh when the book out right said Tor and Armadon were boring lol (Malyssa is the one to say it and I was just like "girl you get it they are so boring") but honestly that made me more sad then anything cause I had hoped to get some character ideas for Tor especially but nope he's just kinda around and is a normal dude? Armadon mentions him being afraid but never of what? like what is that suppose to mean my guy??

--Malyssa ok so like… she is my fav character in the book but also the one that bothers me the most ffff I liked how much pull she had in the story playing both sides the whole time, betraying people and then talking her way back onto their side (even tho most of the time it made no fucking sense what she was trying to do or how she was able to make the others work with her again) I just liked how important she was

what I didnt like was how much of her character was "breasted boobily down the stairs" they for some reason made her centuries old but keeping herself youthful by drinking the blood of virgin men after sleeping with them?? like okay (I dont at all mind that she liked to get it like good for her! they just kinda made it weird cause she always thinking about it) her not wearing much clothes was brought up a LOT and just talking about her "supple body" I get it she's sexy idk it just really derailed me every time and made me roll my eyes. they didnt at all bring up any of her lore from the game which also really bothered me and I think was the main reason I hated her being portrayed as she was in the book

in the game she's literally a slave to Vertigo as are all her people (magically bound to serve Vertigo) and Malyssa wants to free them she ends up tricking Vertigo and rewritting a spell that Vertigo thought would free herself into one that would free Malyssa and her people and then she leads her people with kindness and allows them to pursue freedom and happiness

which is like so good??? thats part of why I like Malyssa so much cause she's bound to one of the big bads of the series yet she herself isnt evil and wants to do good (at least for her people) I just love that for her and it feels like such a shame the book reduced her to just "sexy evil lady" (not that thats not a fun character type but just not for Malyssa I think)

anyway I know the book was just a silly thing written to promote a fighting game about giant dinosaurs so I dont hold it to being like the most amazing piece of literature ever written. It would have had to have been a lot longer to touch on all the characters lore (and honestly thinking of it now if we had instead gotten a series of books each focusing on the individual characters with a slowly intertwining story would have been amazing!!) at the end of the day I had fun reading it! But did just want to whinge a bit about the characters (because I love them a lot hhh)

Why do people use OOC/Irrelevant stories to justify their hatred for characters?

I'll admit I got this question from reddit but seeing as you are a big fan of Iron Man and certain characters afflicted by this issue I thought I would ask

Comic book characters and the consistency of favored portrayals

Why do people do the exact opposite to justify how cool they think a character is?

Look this is probably the worst kind of question to ask me, back when I was in high school my classmates hated me cause when it came to arguments I would always 'Stand on the fence' or 'Never pick a side' and I agree, even when I disagree or agree I can't help but see the other side of things with some questions.

I think one of the biggest things comic fans need to accept with our medium is that, the only real continuity that exists is the one we try and brute force and make in our heads, some writers themselves don't really care, Geoff Jones ignored Batman previously basically begging for Hal Jordan to come back to life when he was The Spectre to writing Batman basically complaining that Hal was back because to him that is what he thinks Batman should act like with Hal, and considering he probably grew up with a comic like Dark Knight Returns the asshole authoritarian was probably was he knew of the character, who knows I don't know his personal life.

I think we can all say that you have fallen in love with a character based of Non Canon stories, Hell my favorite comic for Superman and the one that got me into liking the character was All-Star Superman. The exact opposite of that like what you asked tho, Hating a character because a story depicted them poorly whether it's canon or not is valid as well, I mean it's pretty damn short-sighted if they have been exposed to better represented sides of those characters, but it doesn’t change the impact they initially felt, wether they can get past that is on the person. Like for example, I fucking hated Superman growing up cause the first movies I remember seeing him in was the freaking Dark Knight Returns duology and certain parts of Young Justice Season 1 but overtime seeing better versions and representations of the characters and also hearing put fans on what he represents has pushed him up to my 5th favorite hero, I do understand not everyone can do this. People just want to support their view of the character.

I also do think people who hate certain characters do reach a lot of the time, sharing panels of stories older than their parents sometimes probably not even knowing what comic it even came from, just happy they have this image of the character they don't like being abusive or something. It's even worse then the he outright go out of their way to find these panels or stories to use for hate on purpose even after knowing it's generally agreed upon it's a shitty representation of the character. Seriously nobody should bring up All Star Batman and Robin as some 'Got Ya!' moment in an argument, just no. Sometimes some people have just predetermined in their mind they want to hate a character and will go out of their way to farm for anything that can paint them in the worst light possible.

With Iron Man it's people bringing up Civil War again and again and again continuously like the 40 years of stories before that don't show why Tony would never do any of that in his right mind. With Superman it's people bringing up injustice in literally any relation to him or people bringing up a scene of Jason Todd blaming Bruce for his death as evidence of how whiny he is even when one of the highlight lines of his first appearance as Red Hood is 'Bruce I forgive you for not saving me but-'

With characters like say, Hal Jordan, Magneto or Venom and meny more, it gets more interesting here. Here what the characters did that was bad IS/WAS(considering reboots in Hal's case) in continuity but a version of the characters that were received much more popularly then makes fans disregard these past appearances as wrong, say they have had this entirely new portrayal longer than they had that one or writers themselves will retcon them away by making them, in the case of former villians now refromed, seem less evil than they were. No no those people Magneto killed weren't innocent humans in the silver age, they were actually anti-mutant bigots that killed a little girl for being a mutant. One of my favorite examples of this is Hulk. Yes Hulk the rampaging monster from movies to series to comics, in comics in I think 2008 was retconned to have never and I mean never killed a single person in all his rampages In the in-universe 12 years at that point, not even indirectly because Bruce Banner was subconsciously calculating all the angles of where he would throw or smash stuff apprently. All those crumbled buildings, nope, nothing.

And you know what? I can agree with some of that (that Hulk retcon is still dumb) because let me tell you the real truth to all this.

Consistency

People love consistency, They don't care about Magneto killing innocents in the 60s or Venom eating people in the 90s, they care about the take that has been supported consistently in their view for longer or just showed more consistently in what they have seen. Even for the haters it's the same, if for example my only experience with Batman was All Star and Certain Post New 52 issues, I would be happy knowing I hate this borderline sociopathic dude that's what I know Batman as.

You see it even with the movies, When The Amazing Spider-Man came out you had people saying it was an inaccurate take or not liking the changes even though it was actually more comic accurate that what came before but fans of the Raimi movies have consistently seen Peter as a meek and nice kid before being Spider-Man not an asshole, they have consistently seen him with organic webbing not with web shooters. Anything that breaks the portrayal they have known the most if gonna make them react either well or badly. People who only knew Tony Stark from Civil War probably reacted well to his MCU version seeing as he broke the consistent borderline villian they knew him from the comics.

So the big issue is people trying to force their own consistent idea of a character on others when comics just aren't consistent, everyone like I said at the start has their own makeshift continuity in their head they made up with books they liked or think fit, the consistent portrayal they know about, so this is why you get people arguing about if Batman is the real identity or Bruce Wayne or if Clark Kent should wear trunks or not I could go on and on like if Wonder Woman should use a sword? Someone who is used to the New 52 version would say yes and someone used to the Post Crisis version would say no. Or maybe it's what love interest Spidey should end up with, people who say Gwen probably grew up with TASM and Spectacular Spider-Man. Better for people to just respectly discuss the takes of characters different people have instead of childishly pushing the version they have in their head as the correct version and putting down everyone else's pretty damn subjective takes. That's with superhero comics of course, the nature of what is canon and isn't and how fans of this stuff talk about it with different 'takes' is way more unique than talking about disliking MCU Spider-Man or talking about why you hate Sasuke or something.

I don't really have a good way to end all this cause that's just it, all about consistency if I didn't get that across the 10 times I used that word. As usual feel free to disagree with me and if possible tell me how and why.
