Megumi losing his will to carry on until (y/n) shows up
Tumblr media
Pairing: Megumi x reader
Word Count: 1,5k
Synopsis: Megumi can't take it anymore. All the death, the grief, the misery he caused. He'll never forgive himself for losing you...But are you really dead?
Warnings: THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS! but more in a really decent way, like I actually think if you have no idea of the manga you don't get that these are spoilers lol, HEAVY angst but also comfort, poor Megumi is at his lowest so TW if that offends you
I know I promised you a Sukuna fic it technically is and I will serve, but this basically wrote itself so I hope you like this as well hehe
Tumblr media
Take a deep breath in and out, calm your tingling nerves, allow your feet to walk at normal pace. You waited so long for this moment, recovered from your endless injuries Sukuna conflicted on your body and soul. It took Shoko forever to stitch you up again, to make you look like a human being again. But there you go, walking on your very own legs, to finally see the true love of your life again.
When was the last time you spoke to him? Oh, you remember it exactly.
“I’m scared. Scared of what will happen, scared about the things we’ll lost…”
“Hey, you’ll never lose me, okay? I will always stay by your side.”
Little did both of you know he’ll break that promise a few weeks later and that he won’t return to your side for over a year. How hard you fought, how desperately you tried to stand a chance against Sukuna – only to get thrown out of life yourself.
“Are you sure you can handle this, that you are fit enough?”, Yuji questioned with his hand resting on your shoulder.
“You know you don’t have to-“
“This might be the only chance to get him back, right?”
Yuji smiled at you with that pained expression on his face you saw countless times these last months.
“Yuta and I think it might work. After all, everyone knows how much you mean to him.”
You clench your hands into fists. There is no doubt in the fact that Megumi Fushiguro is still in there, that he is still the boy you know and adore with all your heart. Even if it means you’ll get attacked again, even if it might end your life, you’ll have to try.
-Megumi-
Megumi’s body doesn’t move an inch, lifeless eyes staring into nothing but darkness. What time is it? He couldn’t care less. No, time doesn’t make any sense right now. Not when he lost everyone he loved. His family, his friends, his self-control. You.
His heart stings immediately. Oh, your gorgeous face hunts him down like nothing else. The way you talked, the way you laughed. The way you looked at him with widened eyes when your lifeless body fell to the ground, the way your blood pooled around his brown shoes.
Why? Why didn’t you listen to him when he told you earlier to stay away from Sukuna? Why did you decide to show up anyway, without Yuji or Yuta by your side? There was absolutely nothing he could do to save you.
Just like his sister.
Just like Gojo-sensei.
Just like everyone else.
It seems unreal to him. Unreal that he’s the one still alive, that all these people lost their lives through his very own hands. Oh, he’ll never forget the way you cared for his sister, your dumb inside jokes with Gojo. He’ll never forget the way you held his hand that one night, how your soft smile outshone the heavy moonlight.
“Don’t worry Megumi, everything will turn out alright eventually!”
Oh, how wrong you were. How awful these words make his guts turn, how desperately he wants to close his eyes forever.
No, you didn’t deserve your fate. Everyone didn’t deserve their fates. But he? He deserves nothing but death.
Nothing but emptiness.
Nothing but darkness.
“Megumi.”
Is he hallucinating again? Is your voice hunting him down like it always does? It sounds so clear, near to reach. As if he could open his eyes, stretch out his hands and-
“Megumi.”
Again.
His skin suddenly starts to feel warm, as if someone touches his arm. Impossible, no one should be here, it’s just him in this prison that never ends-
“Hey, I’m here. It’s me, (y/n).”
“(y/n)?”
That name. That gorgeous name he adores to the moon and back, that last name that saved him from giving up until you died in front of his eyes.
“Hey, it’s been a while.”
“You’re dead.”
That voice sounds so unknown, so far away that you flinch for a second. Is this really Megumi and not just a cheap copy of him? You swallow hard, desperately try to contain your emotions. Oh, how much you longed for this moment, to finally hold the love of your life again. But on the other hand, you can’t take the sight in front of you. Him laying curled up on the cold floor, face showing absolutely no emotion.
You shake your head. No, you have to be strong right now. If not for yourself, then for him.
“Open your eyes, silly. I’m right here”, you reply.
Gently, you cup his cheek with your hand the way he always secretly adored. This just has to work, you need to get him back.
He hesitates for a moment, breath stuck in his throat. Is this really you or just his own sorrow reminding him of the things he’s done? But what…
He opens his eyes.
His gaze finds yours.
Time stands still.
“I missed you, cutie patootie.”
Reality hits him with full force. This might be a cruel trick, a hallucination. But that nickname was always a little secret between both of you, how you called him in private. No one except you knows about it. No one except you looks at him with so much love gleaming in their eyes. No one except…
“(y/n)”, he breathes out.
“I know you think I’m dead but…I made it, Megumi. I never gave up hope to see you again.”
You can’t hold back the waterfall of tears that now streams down your cheeks, eyes holding onto his gorgeous face for dear life, afraid to lose him all over again.
“(y/n).”
And for the first time since you know him, his eyes get watery to the point where they overflow with tears, the salty stream getting caught in your hands.
“(y/n)”, he whimpers again.
“Don’t feel sorry for what happened. It wasn’t you but him. I don’t blame you”, you blurt out immediately.
“(y/n)!”
Faster than you’re able to comprehend what’s happening, he wraps his longing arms around you, presses you so close that your lungs refuse their service for a second.
“I thought you’re dead. I thoughtI killed you.”
The sheer agony in his voice forms a painful lump in your throat. Oh poor Megumi…He doesn’t deserve to feel this way, doesn’t deserve to hold all these horrible memories. How much you’d wish you could simply take his pain away, could make him forget what happened.
But all you’re able to do is holding him tightly.
“You would never harm a single hair on my body-“
“But I did!”, he screams.
“I hurt you! I almost killed you! Just like Gojo-sensei, just like Tsumiki!”
His voice breaks, a dry whimper escapes his lips.
“I…I can’t do this anymore. I can’t hurt another soul. I don’t wanna li-“
“Stop right there.”
Desperately, you force him to look into your reddened eyes.
“This wasn’t you, Megumi. Did you hear me? No one ever thought it was you. We loved you, we missed you, we want you back. When Shoko stitched me up, all I was able to think about was you. Fuck that shitty jujutsu world we’re living in, fuck all the curses and monsters and humans. Think about us, Megumi. Think about what you told me back then, that you’ll always stay by my side. Because that’s were I need you, this is why I love you more than anything else. In my eyes, you’ll never be anything apart from Megumi Fushiguro!”
Without thinking twice, you press your despairing lips against his, taste the salty tears of him and you that mixed on each other’s faces. His arms wrap themselves around your back and waist, hold you into place while you get lost against the lips you know so well but yet not at all. Megumi just needs to come back to you, needs to find his willpower again.
“I need you”, you mutter against his mouth.
“I love you.”
The agony radiating from his voice becomes almost unbearable, lets you hold onto his neck even tighter. No, Megumi didn’t deserve what happened to him. He didn’t deserve to see his loved ones die right before his eyes. He didn’t deserve all the things he’s been through. But this right here, this is just right.
This is a reason to hold on, right?
“Promise me you won’t give up”, you urge.
“Promise me you’ll give yourself the chance to heal, that you’ll stand with me and Yuji and the others. Just promise that you’ll come back.”
“I swore to myself not to be a burden to this world anymore, that I’m done with my pathetic life, that I deserve to die. But you’re alive, you’re lying in my arms…And now I’m too selfish to do that.”
Again, he caresses your lips with his in the gentlest way while his arms hold you in place.
“If I’m not able to look at myself in the mirror, I’m able to look at you.”

Mikey x female reader
This is part 1 and I’ll probably do a part 2 idk… this is just a small fic…that I came up with because I love Mikey. This is also purely for my self satisfaction, if you’re interested enjoy the fic?
- this fic contains tiny 16+ content in some parts, like mentions of female body characteristics (very less honestly) and some naughty thoughts that a horny teen usually has 😗
- contains spoiler from manga so read at your risk!
That’s all! 🌸💞💐💖

———————————————————————————————————
You wore a beautiful white dress, you planned to read your favorite book at your favorite park... which was a little far from your house. But a favorite place is still a favorite.
Unfortunately for you, it just happens to start raining the moment you reach the park.... and you have no other choice but to stay there until it stopped. You run to find some kind of place where you can avoid getting wet. And meet a familiar figure, your crush, Manjiro Sano also known as Mikey....
You know him since a very long time...from the moment he scarred Sanzu...you knew about his dark impulses...so you tried to be very careful not for yourself but for him to never lose control again. You're in love with him...but you know that in the end if he gets attached to you, you might end up hurting him. Why? It's complicated....
You decided to greet him because it's obvious he also saw you. He hasn't really been talking to you for a while and you honestly don't mind because it's better that way anyways...
"Hey...it's been a while" you said approaching him with a nervous smile.
He was sitting on his motorbike silently, without any care about the rain, he looks at you with no change in his expression "yea..."
He has certainly changed...did something happen? You asked yourself. You really don't know since you lost touch with him a while back when draken died.... you remember him purposely telling you to leave him alone, you weren't sure if he needed space or was it because he didn't want to talk to you anymore...
He turns back to look at the rain, a cold expression on his face. He leans back on the motorbike , closing his eyes, "just leave....it will be better for you that way"
You walked out of the shade you were standing to avoid getting wet, not caring about the rain...slowly approaching him.
He heard you walking towards him, keeping his eyes closed, "you'll catch a cold...you shouldn't be out here....especially in a white dress..."
You scoff at his words but slightly amused "you care?" He was caught off guard by your scoff but turned to look at you, opening his eyes. His face is expressionless, yet he had a soft expression in his eyes. He sighed quietly, "you're gonna get yourself sick in the rain."
"Mikey....I can say the same for you. You might catch a cold too..." you said with genuine worry about him.
He glanced away suddenly, avoiding looking at you. You're confused. "What..?" He said nothing for a while. He didn't want to think about you in that kind of way after noticing the outline of your figure through the dress. It was wrong.... he kept his gaze averted but his expression is soft. "I don't....get sick easily"
You still don't understand why exactly isn't he looking at you. "Really? So then do you like the rain?" You look at the sky closing your eyes and enjoying the feeling of drops pouring down on your face.
He looked at you in your soaked dress, the rain making your silhouette visible but he focused on your eyes instead, seeing how your body swayed from left to right with the drops, his eyes widened, staring at you, you looked beautiful, your eyelashes damp and glistening from the rain, he looked up at the sky, it was dark and cloudy from the rain, he smiled softly, you looked gorgeous, the drops of rain falling on you made you sparkle, it looked like a scene from a movie
“The rain... is calming..”
You opened your eyes and looked directly at him with a bright smile that looked so familiar, “right..?”
He’s caught off gaurd by the smile, his shoulders tensed up, he was stunned by your smile, his heart skipped a beat, he averted his gaze quickly, not wanting to be stared at by you any longer and turned his head back, looking at the rain again, his cheeks flushed red. He hoped that you hadn't noticed his blushing.
“...yeah... it is calming...and pretty…..”You smiled, “so you can blush too?” His eyes widened, he didn't expect you to notice. he turned his face away, embarrassed and flustered. “Y-yeah... I'm still human...”
You chuckle, “then why did you say you can’t feel pain? You’re a human right?” Your expression turning into a sad one, you’re genuinely worried about him, you know he shows he’s tough on the outside but he carries a lot of burden and regrets over his shoulders…
You remember clearly the day he told you to leave him alone….
—————————Flashback —————————
“Mikey!! Stop where are you going?!” You yelled and ran behind him as he slowly walked away after he learned that almost everyone he loved has died so far… he can’t bear to see you…the person he loves, to die too.
He had no other choice but to abandon you… “leave”
What?
“Won’t you feel sad..if I left…?” You asked a dumb question…but you don’t know what his answer would be…you thought maybe his answer might answer your own feelings towards him….
“I can’t feel pain anymore…and I can’t be bothered….”
“What do you mean Mikey? Why would say that? You can talk to me…I’m right here…” you have such a sad expression, almost like you’re gonna cry, you can’t believe he’s leaving just like that. The last words you heard were
“Leave me alone.”
It hurts….it surely does. That same night all you did was think about his last words before he completely vanished for dayssssss, repeatedly chanting the words in your head until you cried yourself to sleep…
————————Flashback end————————
“I still remember…how you asked me to leave you alone….” You frown and smile sadly.
He turns his head back, looking a bit agitated
“Because I've felt too much... everything I feel, every inch of pain for all the things I've gone through.. they all feel numb... and that's why I don't show pain... it's like drowning in an endless sea, every inch of your strength used up, yet you keep sinking... everything feels like a nightmare....” he looks at you intensely, his expression serious, his emotions flowing through his words.
“Pain... is all I've ever known...”
“All I feel... is darkness.”
Darkness…..
Your smile drops at the mention of the word ‘darkness’ you know exactly what he means… you slowly approach him without a word leaving him quite confused.
Once again his eyes landing on your figure, it’s a shame how you still haven’t noticed you’re wearing white…
You dumbo….
His breath hitched, his heart pounding. he could feel a sensation in his body at the very close proximity. his body tensed up, his eyes widened, he looked at you with a slightly troubled yet desperate expression “w-what are you doing....”
You said nothing and straight up went for a hug, holding his face in your chest and wrapping your arms around his neck “hey….lets go back…you’ll get sick…” you frowned, he was also wet from the rain.
He was stunned for a moment, his face in your chest. he was quiet, his ears turning crimson red as he inhaled your scent. he didn't know what to do, his body was frozen from your gesture, the touch of your skin against his bringing him back to reality.
“You know…I really missed you…Mikey”
He slowly brought his arms up and wrapped them around your waist, burying his face in your chest, his body slightly trembling from the contact and the cold rain. he spoke softly “...lets... go...back…”
You rest your face on his head “you know…I really love this person…but I’m afraid that if I get too attached they might get hurt someday because of me…” right after saying that you release yourself from his arms and back away “please don’t hurt yourself…” you said giving him a sad smile and walked towards a place where you could stand away from the rain to dry yourself.
He felt a bit empty when your warmth was no longer surrounding him. his breathing was a bit laboured and heavy, he was still stunned by the sudden affectionate gesture. he looked a bit confused and perplexed when you backed away from him without warning. he heard what you said about being afraid of someone getting hurt, it touched him deeply how you were thinking about him, although he wasn't sure who exactly you were talking about. he heard your words about him hurting himself. He reached out his hand towards your back, unable to speak for a few moments.
“...wait..”
Grabbing your hand lightly, his heart skipped a beat when he touched your fingers. he looked into your eyes without saying anything for a moment before he spoke softly.
“...don't go...”
“….” Your heart ached at his words “I won’t go…” you smile feeling this weird ache in your heart.
Mikey felt his heart beating rapidly when you stayed, and he gently pulled you back towards him as he wrapped his arms around your shoulders, bringing you into another hug. He buried his face into the crook of your neck this time, holding you tightly. he felt a rush of emotions come over him. as he held you, he didn’t say anything, just feeling the way your body felt against his, his eyes closed, taking in the moment to savour every single detail of you.
“Mikey…” you call his name as you hugged him back.
He felt a wave of emotions wash over him as you hugged him back, his eyes slightly widened. he buried his face further into your neck, feeling your hair brush against his face. he breathed in deeply, taking in your scent, he was overwhelmed with the feelings he could feel rising up in his chest.
“...you..feel so right in my arms...”
This immediately made you blush…but thankfully your face wasn’t seen by him..
Calling his name once again to get his attention… “Mikey…..!” You slightly yell, due to the voice of rain pouring down your voice might’ve not reached his ears since you said it in a quite low tone….
Were you finally embarrassed?
He tightened his hold on you, burying his face into you, feeling your body against his, his emotions overflowing with the way your body fit perfectly in his arms, as if you were supposed to be there.
“... yeah…?”
“Um I…need to change…you see my dress…” you said with a hint of embarrassment.
Mikey quickly pulled back letting you go, a blush creeping up his cheeks. he then glanced at your dress, his ears turning red, remembering how your dress stuck to your body, leaving nothing to his imaginations. he quickly looked away, his face flushed red. he was quiet but the sound of his heartbeat was loud in his ears.
“Yeah you... should go change into some dry clothes...”
“Y-yea you should….too”
“yeah.. i’m kind of all wet from the rain...”
He looked a bit embarrassed, realizing how ridiculous he looked while drenched like a mess. his hair sticking to his face from the water, his clothes clinging to his body, his body glistening from the raindrops, his breath coming in short gasps. he couldn't help but feel a bit self-conscious in front of you, feeling vulnerable in his current state.
While you’re preparing to leave, you attempt to hide your visible undergarment at your chest with your hair. Which honestly wasn’t working out so good….but we roll!
He nodded, he was a bit embarrassed to even glance in your direction since he knew it would just make him want to run his hands down your body to feel you against him, his body felt warm at just the thought of it but he fought the urge. he blushed more at your words, a hint of disappointment flickering across his face, he wanted to stay in your presence for longer.
“Yeah... please go change and... get warm..” his eyes trying their best to look at any other direction other than you…
You simply nod before getting your book that you planned to read today… (don’t worry you carried a plastic bag just in case so the book is fine <3)
He felt a pang in his chest as you walked away. he had a mixture of emotions running inside him, a part of him wanted to follow you home and spend all night long caressing your body under the sheets but he ignored the thoughts, knowing it was wrong of him to feel such things. He watched you walk away until you were out of sight, his heart racing.
You’d think that there’s no way someone like Mikey would show emotions so easily? Right? But my god is he in love with you since the day he saw you…he never wanted to show his dark impulses to anyone especially you…but he’s so glad that even after all those harsh things he’s done and said to you, you never change. He hopes you never leave his side but at the same time he wants you to be safe and away from him- your feelings do reciprocate but it’s rather a complicated situation for both of you…. Knowing about his darkness as he says, it’s not easy…..
The moment you reached home, hoping Mikey did the same, you took a fresh bath and changed clothes, and like always you open your diary and wrote about today’s events. It was exciting! You can’t believe you hugged Mikey like that- and especially not realising your dress!
You’re still embarrassed but you also found Mikey’s reactions cute…

Otherside Picnic Rant
I'm coming off the high of shotgunning what there is of the manga and then the entire novel in about a week, so it's hard to gather my thoughts. It's incredible. I'm probably not being very objective about it right now, yesterday around midnight I wasn't even reading anymore, I got to volume 8 and it was less like reading and more like drinking the story. Just vacuuming it up like a burger on the brink of starvation. I don't know how coherent this rant is and I don't care, I just had to get it out there. Spoilers for the whole series below.
Seven volumes of romantic and sexual tension culminates in an entire book of romantic catharsis. A whole book dedicated to Sorawo's feelings. It's not even out of place, it's a horror series and there's nothing Sorawo is more afraid of than human emotion. It's so fucking smart. Every single deflection, every single longing look, every single comment, every single "I love you", every single moment of romance prior to vol8 pays off.
Sorawo falls in love without realizing. She can't take her eyes off Toriko and doesn't understand why. She gets jealous and protective. She rationalizes it using the "accomplices" label. She doesn't think too much about it, but knows Toriko is special.
Then, Toriko confesses her love. Initially, Sorawo genuinely doesn't even understand the implication of it. She realizes Toriko is acting like a boyfriend, and doesn't understand why. Slowly, Toriko shifts from "special" to "the most important person in her life". She still doesn't understand they're in love.
Then, Toriko keeps pushing, and Sorawo picks up on what's happening. She starts deflecting. She goes from being genuinely unaware of her and Toriko's feelings, to actively supressing them. At this point, she still acts like she doesn't get it, but understanding is slowly creeping in. As she continues to act like she doesn't get it, she starts purposefully ignoring these feelings, and it gets harder and harder. She sees all the pieces, and knows what the puzzle would look like if she put them together. The Otherside is terrifying, but that's never stopped her from trying to understand it - these feelings are worse.
Finally, enough is enough, and Toriko pushes one last time - 7 volumes of rising romantic tension come to a head in volume 8. Toriko doesn't know what the fuck is going on anymore, and asks Sorawo to sort out her feelings. Sorawo can't run anymore. Her fear of these feelings influences the Otherside in the most blantant and direct way so far. She is being directly haunted by her feelings for Toriko. It's barely even metaphor at this point. The Otherside has targetted Sorawo before. Satsuki is used to prey on Sorawo's fear of losing Toriko, as well as her jealousy and, to a degree, fear of becoming evil. The Red Person manipulates her through isolation and loneliness. T-san makes her fear losing her connection to the Otherside. All of the phenomena Sorawo encounters, in some form, prey on her emotions and insecurities, but it's at least somewhat obfuscated - they feel like evil monsters with a vague connection to her. They feel like tangentially related phenomena that just so happen to fit the bill.
Satsuki and The Red Person haunt Sorawo specifically, but you could easily make arguments for them haunting others as well. Vol 8's Mujina is different. It's a phenomena that is directly targetting Sorawo and only Sorawo, it's directly targetting her feelings for Toriko, in a way that leaves no doubt or ambiguity about what's happening. It's not even that scary, objectively speaking. Just one volume ago, Sorawo brutally exorcizes Satsuki in a triumphant, cathartic slam dunk against the horrors of the Othersie. Even before that, at this point, she's faced off against countless, unimaginable horrors and has come out on top. The Mujina is one of the simplest, most basic phenomena Sorawo has encountered. It's incredibly mundane. It's not some crazed serial killer, or an eldritch abomination, or some inhuman chimera. It's not some deep reflection of her past, it's not some sort of mind bending apparition designed in a lab to terrify. It's not a 20 stage haunted house with twists and turns. It's a scrap of paper passed to her during class, and all it says is "you love her and you know it". It's fucking genius.
Vol 8 is a mad dash and a chaotic scramble to sort out her feelings. It's never been this hectic before. She pulls out all the stops. There are stressful moments throughout the series, but for the first time, it feels like Sorawo genuinely might break under the pressure. She goes as far as asking her classmate for advice. I think vol1 Sorawo might choke out vol8 Sorawo for even thinking about doing that. She's scrambling through town asking everyone everything she can and all the way throughout she's being haunted, tormented, tossed around like a plastic bag through dimensions. She's fighting for her life.
All of this culminates in the single greatest chapter of any romance story I've ever seen. The 80 or so pages that have potentially ruined all other romance for me. If you got your hands on the original manuscript, tore out Accomplices No More and processed it into a drink, I'm certain you'd have made a love potion. File 26 feels like a fucking galactic event. A nuke could have dropped on them during their talk and I doubt it would have made into the footnotes. Any burglar trying to break in would be torn apart on the atomic level by the sheer level of desperate love on display. I'm surprised neither of them had a heart attack. I'm not surprised by the lack of Otherside interference - whatever it is, whoever it is trying to make use of it, at this moment, even God knows better than to try. Calling it cathartic feels like an insult.
Sorawo and Toriko sit down, pick up volumes 1-7 of Otherside Picnic, and take a leisurely stroll through every second of their time together, from the moment they first met, to the Big Bang of yuri currently occuring. It's love. It's always been love. Toriko lets her into her apartment. Sorawo doesn't care anymore. She accepts that she's not like other people. She accepts that she doesn't love like others do. She accepts that she doesn't think of people like other people do. She accepts that she loves Toriko. Their feelings fly off the page like a meteor shower.
Sorawo has never been interested in Toriko's past, because Toriko's present is so radiant nothing else matters. That's fine. She loves her.
Sorawo has never thought of Toriko in a sexual way, and how could she have? Have you ever wanted to fuck the sun? Even if Sorawo wasn't ace, I don't think she could have felt differently in this moment. That's fine. She loves her.
Sorawo has never wanted for them to become lovers, because, in her eyes, they were far, far beyond that point. That's fine. She loves her.
Sorawo has seen herself through Toriko's eyes in the past. It brought her to tears. I wonder, how Toriko would react to seeing herself through Sorawo's eyes?
Toriko's love is a lot more typical in comparison, but she loves her just as much as Sorawo loves her. Sorawo confuses her. "This girl keeps staring at me". "She wants to spend all her time with me". "She gets jealous of me". "She protects me at the cost of herself". To Toriko (and literally everyone else who has ever seen the two together for more than two seconds, including the fucking esoteric eldrich beings from beyond the realm of human imagination who don't even know what the fuck feelings even are), the way Sorawo acts towards her can be nothing but love.
Written from Toriko's perspective, Otherside Picnic is a romcom about a Canadian lesbian who progressively goes more and more insane over the fact that her hot, nerdy crush won't go out with her despite not even trying to hide the fact it's mutual, with a mild subplot about some monsters or whatever. At this point, I could argue that Toriko isn't even especially fearless or anything, and that the reason she handles the Otherside so well is because she's too thrown off by the densest lesbian to ever walk the earth to spare a thought to whatever the fuck the Otherside is trying to do. Maybe she'd be more shook by her ex being turned into the Grooming Devil if she wasn't busy writing a 50-page essay titled "What The Fuck Am I Doing Wrong" in her head at the same time.
Jokes aside, Toriko's love for Sorawo really is just as big as Sorawo's love for her. Toriko might be a bit rough around the edges, and she herself admits she's not great with people. Toriko got books on childhood trauma so she wouldn't hurt Sorawo by accident. Toriko has been agonizing potentially having overstepped Sorawo's boundaries. Toriko knows she's hurt Sorawo before, both on purpose and by accident, and she hates herself for it. Toriko lets her into her apartment, something she's never done for anyone else before, and she tells Sorawo everything she's afraid of telling other people.
She loves Sorawo. Not the cool, smart Sorawo, the fearless Sorawo, the Sorawo that treats the Otherside like an adventure. She loves Sorawo. The cool, smart, fearless, weak Sorawo. The jealous, pathetic loner Sorawo. The dense, ovethinking Sorawo who can't hold her composure. The heroic Sorawo. The Sorawo that says she doesn't care about people. The Sorawo who faced hell for her. The Sorawo who wouldn't let her go. The Sorawo she wouldn't let go.
The moment Sorawo and Toriko sit down in her apartment, all doubts of whether or not they love each other are incinerated. All that's left is to clear up any misunderstandings, and figure out where to go from here.
Toriko places lovers above accomplices, Sorawo does the opposite. Misunderstanding resolved. Toriko says she loves Sorawo, Sorawo responds in kind. All clear. Sorawo thinks that maybe it's not romantic, Toriko isn't buying it, in the end, the label feels meaningless. It's love regardless. Toriko is worried her advances went too far. Sorawo doesn't get much out of the kissing, but absolutely doesn't mind it. We're getting somewhere. Before a label is decided for their relationship, Toriko admits she wants to have sex. Sorawo doesn't get the hype, but she's down. They have boring, normal, incredibly disappointing sex, and get nowhere.
If this is as far as it went, I could see Sorawo compromising and labeling them as a couple. I don't think sexual incompatibility could ruin their relationship. Toriko would be disappointed, but they'd happily work out some kind of compromise and end up a happy couple. Happily ever after.
Thankfully, Toriko is horny as hell, a bit mean, and a sore loser. Turned on, next to her beloved, her pride as a second generation lesbian having suffered critical damage, she mutters about taking care of business herself, something I'm sure is partly just an actual idea she had, but also as a bit of a mean jab against Sorawo.
Sorawo's internal monologue following this statement is the best string of letters and symbols I've ever seen in my life. I'm fully aware I'm still riding the hype and not being objective. I don't care. As of writing this, I don't think anything I've ever read or ever will read will ever reach the heights of Sorawo discovering what a kink is. 16 hours later, I'm staring at it, and I'm still floored. I imagine I still will be a week later. I would do deplorable things to get Iori Miyazawa to write a version of this scene from Toriko's perspective. I'd go as far as watching Hibike Euphonium if it made him put his pen to paper.
Toriko's offhanded remark leads right into the most insane sex (???) scene I've ever seen. I could wax poetic for days, words just don't do it justice. To begin with, it's beautiful, romantic, erotic, absolutely hilarious, as well as just a touch terrifying. It fits thematically, both in the obvious sense of it being kind of horrifying, but it also touches on the overarching themes of the story.
The horrors of the Otherside are often used to represent abuse, and a big part of Sorawo's character is coming to terms with her abuse by both claiming the Otherside for herself, as well as fighting against the horrors representing her abusers. Using these powers in such a loving, passionate way that stands as a direct counter to the Otherside is an incredible middle finger to their abusers as well as the powers that be. Come what may, they can't be broken, and together, they can heal.
It's also relevant to the struggles Sorawo has throughout the series. She's not like other people. She doesn't think like other people. She struggles with societal expectations and labels. On top of that, both her and Toriko have been irreversibly changed by the Otherside. Sorawo is pushed by others to label their relationship, she's pushed by Toriko to conform to typical sexuality. Of course the normal sex was terrible - neither of them are normal, and once they accept that, they're rewarded with reality breaking sex that puts the horrors of the Otherside to shame.
Lastly, it's also the final piece required for them to fully accept each other. Throughout the series, they push and pull each other through various misunderstandings and such. Once the misunderstandings are cleared up, the issue that remains is that they're incredibly scared to hurt each other. Sorawo is scared of driving Toriko crazy with her eye. Toriko is scared of… whatever the hell her hand can do to Sorawo. The thing that finally clicks is simple - they're scared of hurting each other, but neither of them are scared the other would hurt them. They're scared of hurting each other, but the thought of being hurt themselves doesn't even occur to them, and since they trust each other with their lives, there's no reason to be afraid.
Rationally, I can look at this sequence of events and understand that it's only four pages or so long, but I don't think I'll ever be able to wrap my brain around it. It's a masterpiece.
Once they're done inflicting permanent mental damage on me, the Otherside, as well as everyone in a 5-mile radius, they go back to labels. Suddenly, the idea of normal is a lot less interesting for the both of them. At this point, it doesn't matter what they call each other. With the nerdiest justification ever put to paper, they label themselves after some weird, esoteric Japanese beast. Why not?
I'm usually not a fan of the "we don't need a label" trope in yuri, as it's usually used as a copout to avoid labelling the characters as queer. Otherside Picnic is like the polar opposite of that. It's not trying to avoid labelling the characters as queer. I think it just invented a whole new brand of queer. I'm exceptionally happy about how it handles the topic of sexuality, from Toriko's lesbian mothers, to Toriko herself, to Sorawo's asexuality, to whatever the fuck they did to each other.
Given that Iori Miyazawa could be called the father of "yuri of abscence", as funny as the memes are, and as sure as I was that he was mostly joking, I was still a bit worried that Sorawo and Toriko would end up being ambiguous. I couldn't have been more wrong.
Iori Miyazawa really said "a bench by the sea with room for two is yuri. You know what else is yuri? Two women having sex". What an incredible man. What an incredible story. I don't know what I'll do with myself once it's over.

Just a friendly reminder that even when there are some theories going on about Asa and Yoru merging together into one, they are currently NOT the same individual, even when Asa's feelings for Denji are permeating into Yoru somehow (well they share the same body and brain).
Clearly Yoru gives a damn about Asa, including her body autonomy (and you can say that Asa was sa'd by Yoru too bc she didn't consent). I'm saying this bc a lot of ppl thought Asa and Yoru were acting friendly lately... But that's just because of what Famine said to them about Chainsaw man.
The reality is that Yoru doesn't really care about Asa's feelings (and Denji's by extent). She wants to fight with Chainsaw man and doesn't care about anything else. She's a devil after all.
What happened in this chapter can potentially not only destroy whatever genuine relationship Asa and Denji could have, but Asa and Yoru's alliance too.
I think we will see some seeds of a conflict inside between Asa and Yoru once the fragile trust they developed has been broken. This internal conflict can be decisive for the climax of the manga.
Of course, Denji is a SA victim here, but Asa is one too! So I wonder if Asa will have an emotional breakdown and reveal the truth about her and Yoru at some point... Or if shit will get even worse and nothing will be cleared up, because Asa will close herself off from Denji and Denji will distrust her even more.
Anyway, to be honest, I just don't see any point of still keeping Yoru as a secret anymore, since what happened in this chapter is probably the climax of their misunderstandings and bad communication, and that will define their relationship from now on. In my opinion, it would be more interesting, from a narrative point of view, if Denji will finally have to deal with the whole picture about Asa, "her mood swings" and all it implies for their interactions: the ugly, the bad and the good... And what HE will decide about that. Or maybe its just my wish for Denji to finally have some kind of iniciative or consent about his own life.
I'm very anxious of what will happen next chapters because Fujimoto is such an unpredictable author...

I think that Kabru and Shuro being friends makes no sense negl
Well... They are.
I'm gonna guess you want me to sell their dynamic to you?
I'm feeling so so sick I'll keep it short though. Nothing I say will be better than rereading the manga paying attention to their interactions.
1. Their stories parallel each other in several places. Raised by a surrogate mother, trained to be skilled warriors from a young age, both are disconnected with something about themselves as a result of their upbringing, both are politically minded, both capable of approaching any social interaction trying to determine what their interlocutor REALLY wants out of it... They are both also very ascetic and aren't very in touch with their desires. I feel like they both look outwards more than inwards.
I actually just saw this post which i find so apt. Kabru is better at taking care of his foils than himself. Toshiro, in a way, is also better at performing when it's for other people rather than for himself. Maizuru said it herself, asking for help saving Falin was his one selfish request and it wasn't even for himself. Parallel that with Kabru being so willing to sacrifice himself in order to prevent a tragedy like that happened in Utaya. Sacrifice is high on both of them.
I'm not saying all of these parallels are like, direct equivalents, just that they're similar enough that Kabru and Toshiro could look at each other and be like. Hmm. I feel like I get you.
2. 1. Toshiro literally has Rinsha Fana energy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Using these because it's the screenshots I have most at hand lol but. While maybe not her temper, something about their general approach to a group dynamic and general disposition is very similar to me.
2.2. Kabru has the type of social skills that would make it easy for Toshiro to communicate with him. It's not a perfect comparison but to me it's like if you took a bit of Falyn and a bit of Namari, yeah? Extroversion but also awareness of how to put someone like Toshiro at ease.
3. Idk their general interactions man, they just manage to communicate well with each other! Again no mangacaps bcs my head is killing me but, Kabru being able to talk some sense into Toshiro during his meltdown when he's about to kill Laios? When Kabru opens up about his trauma to Toshiro and Namari even though the way I read it, the action wasn't going to get them on his side anymore than they already were? (Aka true moment of seeking connection and showing vulnerability? You don't do that with just any stranger!)
Look at how they're hanging out during the feast. Isn't that so friendship.
Tumblr media
TL;DR: they're both: 1. Similar in a lot of important dimensions central to their characters, 2. Already have friends that share traits or with whom they have a dynamic they enjoy, 3. They fr have chemistry man look at the manga.

MEGUMI WILL LIVE
Sukuna reverting to his Heian era form sent the fandom into a panic because everyone assumed that Sukuna fully reverting back meant Megumi is now permanently dead. It doesn't. I understand how the fans would be worried because of how unceremoniously Gojo was just offed, but remember even Gojo got a long fight beforehand only the finishing blow was offscreened. He's still in Megumi's body though, all he did was change the shape of Megumi's body to look like his heian era self. It's the same way that Choso transfigured his host body when he was inserted inside of it, or other members of the culling games like Hajime did. The original owner of the body is still alive, because if the owner dies then Sukuna would still die along with him.
However, not only is Megumi not dead currently he's not going to die and the rest of this post will be explaining why.
Angel explains in chapter 199, that the reincarnated players are cursed objects swallowed by bodies who then use the bodies as vessels, reshaping them and then suppressing the body's original owner. It's the same for Megumi, Megumi at the finger and became a vessel for Sukuna, but instead of transforming all the way Sukuna stopped the transformation halfway through - until now. However, even in that case Megumi's soul is still there just suppressed.
Angel: My objective is to wipe out all players who've recinarnated. Most of them do it by suppressing the vessel's original owner... whether internally or subconsciously. And that's against God's laws... so it's wrong. Megumi: God? Angel: That's just a name I give to my beliefs. Pay it no mind. Angel: So I decided to live in symbiosis with Hana. Megumi: Can your technique revert possessed players to their original state? Angel: It's not impossible, but it's extremely likely they will die... because the cursed object and body fuse. SO it's difficult to strip away one. Yuji: That's why Sukuna dies if I die.
Sukuna hasn't completely killed Megumi, he's just suppressed the host consciousness, that was essentially the entire purpose of both the bath, and then killing Tsumiki immediately afterwards to bury Megumi so deep he won't fight back.
Tumblr media
However, as I said that's just the technical explanation. I'm going to make a thematic argument about why if only one character of the four main characters survives until the end of the manga like Gege predicted, it will be Megumi. Before I begin though this is just a theory, I'm not saying Yuji or Nobara deserves to die so if you're a fan of them please be chill. Megumi will live and here's why...
Megumi's character arc is about birth rather than death. Megumi is a child, the end goal of his character death is not for him to die and be at peace with his death like Gojo and in my prediction Yuji, but rather for him to grow from childhood into adulthood. Everything in his character revolves around this concept, even his name.
Tumblr media
Megumi, named blessing by his father. A child who is blessed in many ways, born with a technique that would have given Toji acceptance in the Zen'in if he had it, born a prodigy that got the attention of Gojo Satoru, and not blessed in other ways, no father, no mother, no adult in his life to guide him and forced to become a sorcerer or starve from an early age. However, more than that the name represents Toji's desire for Megumi to have a better life than he did.
Toji: Take care of Megumi, okay? That place is ueslss for someone like me, but for him...for someone with potential...it'll be a little better. Toji: I don't care... I don't care anymore. Toji: Hey, what's your name? Megumi: Fushiguro. Toji: Not Zen'in, huh? Toji: Good for you.
I have said before that Jujutsu Kaisen is a tragedy, but tragedies aren't really hopeless stories where everyone dies and nothing good ever happens. Even while Gojo's death is tragic, his dying dream is bittersweet as he reflects on the fact he made great friends in life and protected a lot of people. Which is why I don't think Megumi's name is supposed to be ironic, he was named blessing because he's supposed to be where the chain of abuse that started with the Zen'in -> Toji and carried on -> Megumi finally ends by breaking that cycle.
Megumi is a child, episode 5 of Juju Stroll "had Megumi describe Panda's smell as "ohisama" (お日様) which is a super childish way of saying "sunshine". It kind of literally translates to Mr. Sun, and it's such a cutesy way of talking that the girls get flustered. It's also mentioned in one of the audio dramas where they go out to eat beefsteak that Megumi only wants to eat the sauce and Yuuji reacts by basically saying "Are you a kid??" He also dislikes red peppers."
These childish affectations are there to show us Megumi is not what he appears. That's also basically the twist with his personality too, because he has an incredibly serious personality, and is considered a jujutsu prodigy most people mistake him for being mature for his age when he's really just repressing his emotions all the time.
Fushiguro had intended to just pay and leave but with his serious personality, his idea of leaving was dismissed by Itadori’s reasoning. However, his eyes that were as deep as the night that peeped out from the bottom of a deep ditch became even more lifeless. Fushiguro tried once more to switch off his self-awareness. Numbness was the safety feature of life. If he did not think of a way to protect his spirit, it would not be strange if a curse was born.
Megumi is putting on airs of being an adult, but I'd argue he's the most childish of the main three, because at least Nobara and Yuji both had parental figures and normal childhoods until high school. Megumi was handpicked to be a sorcerer at age six and received no adult guidance outside of that, just training to be a sorcerer. Megumi is a child forced into sorcery at a young age in order to pay his bills and survive, in the manga where the central goal of one of the main characters is that children should be able to live out their youths. If Megumi dies before he's even able to grow up, that goal will be unaccomplished.
Ijichi: Then Itdori will have to go into hiding for good. Gojo: Nah, I'll have him ready in time for the goodwill event. Shoko: Why? Goo: Easy. I refuse to keep this kid from living the best years of his life. Not just him, but everyone.
Of course that argument works for Yuji and Nobara as well. They're also children who I am predicting will die tragically early, wouldn't that go against the themes of the manga too? My argument is this, we've already seen kids die young, Mai Zen'in, Kokichi Muta, Junpei Yoshino, because Jujutsu Kaisen is a tragedy. However, there will be a few characters who survive into adulthood and live to see a better world where losses like the above characters don't happen anymore. Those characters however, are characters where their character arcs revolve around them living.
Yuji's character arc is a contemplation of death and searching for a proper death (I'll talk more on the differences later) Nobara's is more tricky without talking about the quality of the writing, but let's say Nobara's death shows that even a "main character" isn't exempt for death. Which is appropriate as Nobara thinks of herself as the main character of a story. Megumi's character arc however is specifically about a cycle of abuse that started with his father, and continued to him. Unlike Nobara and Yuji who were outsiders who made the choice one way or another (traveling to Tokyo, or swallowing the finger) to enter into the world of sorcery, Megumi was born into this situation and his choice was become a sorcerer when he was a teenager or starve. Gojo had the chance to break the cycle of abuse with Megumi and he didn't, because he saw another potential strong sorcerer.
Toji: But then the unexpected happened 11 years ago, when Toji Zen'in appeared. he was physically gifted through heavenly restriction and on top of that he was an anomaly who had escaped from cursed energy. As a human being who had escaped fate through the power of restriction... he destroyed our destinies.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a story about cycles, and not only is the narrative goal set by Gojo to 'reset this crappy Jujutsu World" so that the cycle of abuse adults heap on children will be broken by the end of the story, but Toji himself is referred to as the breaker of chains and Megumi is Toji's son. Megumi, who he named blessing. The inciting incident of the story happened, because the Zen'in abused Toji to the point he became a remorseless murderer and killed Riko in front of Geto's eyes, starting the domino effect that led to today's plot. Megumi is at the center of that, he is in a way the central victim of the story in a way Yuji is not because even Yuji got the choice to eat the finger or not. Eating the finger, and being executed to destroy Sukuna are burdens Yuji willingly took on whereas Megumi was possessed forcibly by Sukuna creating the current situation. Yuji also wanted to be a sorcerer and wanted to get stronger as one when sitting in his room and waiting to have the fingers delivered to him was a possible option, whereas for Megumi the choice was to be a sorcerer or starve.
Jujutsu Society will not have changed from Toji's generation, or even Gojo's generation if Megumi the child does not survive to adulthood like his father.
Megumi is someone with very little agency or sense of control over his own life, just like a child too he is at every turn practically helpless to the forces of the adults in his life. Of course he's a character who makes choices, but he's still making those choices in the framework of a world of adults who have authority over him. Megumi doesn't get to retire at being a sorcerer or he'll starve, so the choice he makes is "I'll selectively choose who I save as a sorcerer" which is a comrpomise he makes.
He doesn't have a choice but to be a sorcerer, so he chooses to be a sorcerer for selfish reasons. He's also someone with little care for the institution of sorcery. Even his choice to be a sorcerer with the Zen'in, or to be a sorcerer with Gojo is made on the axis of "What will give Tsumiki a better life?" The same with his choice to save Yuji from execution, he doesn't care what is right or wrong by sorcerer society standards, just that he personally wishes to see Yuji saved. Afterwards when Yuji expresses remorse for Sukuna's mass murder in Shibuya, Megumi is pretty unbothered by the moral ramifications of it.
"We aren't heroes fighting for justice. No one can ever truly judge us, so we must continually prove the worth of our existence. and we don't have the luxury of thinking of ourselves. We've just got to save people. I believe that was the original principle behind your actions. So start by saving me!"
Those words aren't just foreshadowing for what Yuji's final task in the manga is (Hint hint, Yuji now needs to save Megumi from Sukuna's possession otherwise Sukuna will continue to rampage in his body).
It's also illustrative of Megumi's character, he's not someone who makes moral judgements at all, not really. He has no concept of moraity, justice, because those are adult ideas and he is a child trying to survive in the world of adults with what limited power he has. Megumi does make choices as I said he chooses to forgive Yuji for mass slaughter in Shibuya, during the Culling games he chooses to make saving Tsumiki a priority above everything else even innocent people inside the games (something only Yuta is shown actually doing) which is consistent with the choices Megumi has always made. Megumi has no choice to be a sorcerer, so he chooses to use his power selfishly to protect one or two loved ones (and his comrades sometimes) instead of using them for altruistic reasons like Yuji or utilitarian reasons like Gojo.
Megumi doesn't have morals, because he's not in a stage of development where he can actually think and develop morals. This is a thing in psychology, Jean Piaget was the first psychologist to study ways in which children processed the world different from adults. He identified stages of moral development believeing it correlated with stages of cognitive deveolpment (congition = understanding) which Kohlberg then defined into roughly six stages of development.
Stage 1. Obedience and Punishment. Child is good to avoid being punishment. Stage 2. Individualism and Exchange: At this stage, children recognize that there is no just one right view handed down by the authorities, different individuals have different viewpoints. Stage 3. Good Interpersonal Relationships The child / individual is good to be see as being a good person by others. THerefore, answers relate to the approval of others. Stage 4. Law and Order Morality. The child becomes aware of wider rules of society, so judgments concern obeying rules to uphold the law and avoid guilt. Stage 5. Social Contract and Individual Rights. The child becomes aware that laws exist for good, there are times they work against interest of individuals. Stage 6. Universal Principles. Pepople at this stage have developed their own set of moral guidelines they apply to everyone.
Megumi is trapped at Stage 3, his only concern is how his actions will affect his interprersonal relationships with others. Everything he does is in regards to maintaing those interpersonal relationships, and he casually just disregards outside morality all the time. Even Kurusu who bonded with Angel and entered the culling games because of one kind deed Megumi did for her in the past shares this same reasoning, she does good deeds because she wants to be approved of by the person she likes.
Hana: Fate is all. I believed we would someday meet again. So little by little, in hopes of being worthy to stand by your side... I help people.
Megumi's morality is-selfcentered yes, but he hasn't developed into a mature enough person to be able to think of the points of view of other people. Even when Megumi does attempt to assert some control in the world an adult appears and steals control from him, literally in fact when we learn that his attempts to save Tsumiki were pointless to begin with, because Tsumiki is possessed by Yorozu. Shortly after this revelation Megumi permanently loses control, because his bodily autonomy and basic ability to make choices is stolen from him by an adult. Megumi's life is defined by how little control he has in it, he says it in what is his first inner monologue.
Megumi: The only thing that is fair about life is how unfair it is to everyone. She was the kindest person, there was no reason to think otherwise, she was someone who deserved to be happy, but Tsumiki was cursed. My father who didn't even know my gender gave me the name Megumi. He's still alive somewhere. Karma doesn't happen on its own. Criminals are disciplined under the law. Jujutsu sorcerers are only a cog in this retribution. If only more good people could receive fairness. I'll save people whether or not it's fair!
That entire monologue but especially the first sentence is true to Megumi and his life so far, the only thing fair about life is how unfair it is to everyone. Everything is chaos, especially the world of adults, something Megumi has not been sheltered from at all. Megumi's name was blessing, but his father who was responsible for taking care of him just ran off somewhere else and left him to the wolves.
You could even draw some kind of sick parallel to the king of curses himself, who refers to himself as an unwanted child. I don't know if we're going to get a sob story for Sukuna, but if the greatest curse in history was created because he was thrown to the wolves as a child, then that says a lot about sorcerer society. Megumi is just more aware of the dog-eat-dog nature of Jujutsu Society then the rest of the characters, it's why he's constantly trying to tell Yuji that sorcerers arent' heroes. It reminds me of two quotes from Buffy the Vamprie Slayer from Faith, another homeless teen exposed to the world's violence at a really young age with no adults to sheperd her.
Joyce Summers: You don't know the first thing about Buffy... or m Faith:  Don't I? I know what it's like. You think you matter. You think you're a part of something, and you get dumped. It's like the whole world is moving, but you're stuck. Like those animals in the tar pits. It's like you just keep sinking a little deeper every day, and nobody even sees! [...] Buffy: I gave you every chance. I tried so hard to help you, and you spat on me. My life was just something for you to play with. Angel - Riley- anything that you could take from me you took. I've lost battles before - but nobody else has ever made me a victim. Faith: And you can't stand that. You're all about control. You have no idea what it's like on the other side! Where nothing's in control, nothing makes sense! There is just pain and hate and nothing you do means anything. You can't even..."
Megumi's life is defined by this learned helplessness, he's not someone who at seventeen believed he had the complete freedom to do whatever he wanted like Gojo, he's trapped in the tar pits sinking a little deeper every day. There's a reason his Jujutsu Technique is shadows, which turn into muddy water when he uses his domain expansion, and why Sukuna bathed in black water to sink Megumi down to the bottom of his consciousness so he'd stop fighting back.
Megumi's someone with power, but with no real agency in how he uses it, as someone who avoids making choices, and asserting himself over ad over again. Unlike Sukuna and Gojo characters with overwhelming senses of self who seem to have complete freedom to choose, Megumi entirely lacks a sense of self, and therefore doesn't make his own choices.
Gojo: You sacrificed yourself so that Nobara could advance. Well, good for you. But people like Yuji and I... are always swinging for the fences. I'm not saying a sacrifice bunt is bad. Baseball si a team sport in which each member is expected to play their role. However, being a Jujtusu Sorcerer is an individual sport. Megumi: But isn't coordinating with other sorcerers important? Gojo: Yes, but no matter how many allies you have around you... you'll always die alone. Right now, you can only judge and match those around you instead of picturing a stronger future you. Maybe it's because of that ace in the sleeve you think in a worst case scenario if you were to at least sacrifice yourself all would end well. Keep that up and you can forget about becoming as strong as me, you won't even match up to Nanami. To die and then win, and dying victoriously are two completely different things, Megumi. Give it your all. It's okay to be selfish!
Megumi's narrative challenge goes beyond learning that it's okay to be selfish sometimes though, he's tasked with learning to cultivate a sense of self where he has none previously. You se Megumi is the most Jungian of Jung characters in the Jung manga, his power is literally the treasures he keeps hidden in his shadow. He's someone who continually fails to live up to his potential. He has no looked in his shadow at all whatsoever and therefore he's completly stunted in his development. His goal is to develop the ten shadows figuratively, but literally it's too cultivate a sense of self and reach adulthood as a fully grown individual and not the helpless child he is currently. He even is the first ten shadows user to develop a domain expansion, a domain expansion is a sorcerer using their innate domain (personal inner world) onto the outer world.
Tumblr media
Megumi's endpoint is individuation (the process through which a person achieves a sense of individuality separate from the idenities of others and begins to consciously exist as a human in the world.)
As Jung Stated:
The aim of individuation is nothing less than to divest the self of the false wrappings of the persona, on the one hand and the suggestive power of primordial images on the other.
Jung's two theories on selfhood was divided between persona (what we are for other people) and the shadow (what we suppress about ourselves subconscious images we are controlled by). Here we have Megumi, someone who puts on the persona of being a mature, serious individual to survive in the world of adults, and also has the ten shadows which are representative of the suppressed undercurrents of violence but also his self-sabotage that Gojo identifies, suppressed emotions he is unconsciously controlled by. Both of these identities are Megumi and neither of them are.
Megumi's not a fully realized individual because he doesn't have a balanced sense of self at all, or even any sense of self because his two sides are all out of whack. In Jungian terminology the shadow is made up of primordial images shared by all of society, and what is more primordial then being literally possessed by a curse that's a character based off of a folk legend of ryomen sukuna in the real world.
Integration of the shadow is necessary for the process of individuation, Jung even names a confrontation with the shadow as a prerequisite for moral growth.
“The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.”
Once again connecting back to Kohlberg's terms of moral development loosely, children see morals in terms of just outside consequences being applied to them. A child thinks "I can't steal this cookie because the adult who is the enforcer of morals told me it's wrong and will punish me." The final step of moral development is to create your own morals which apply to the world around you. Jung calls the shadow a moral problem because you have to become conscious that you yourself are capable of being wrong in order to properly render judgement on yourself. You can't judge yourself, or reflect on yourself, if you don't look at yourself properly, or ignore half of what you are because you don't want to see the bad in you.
The encoutner with theshadow and the confrontation with the beast is the first step of individuation, and what is Ryomen Sukuna if not one big shadow representing all the evils and selfishness of mankind. A cruel reflection of both Megumi, but also Gojo and Toji. Megumi, Sukuna says, this is how Gojo and Toji lived. They lived fighting from others and simply taking what they wanted, and no one could take from them.
It's extra ironic that Megumi is a blessing, and Sukuna refers to himself as an unwanted child.

Sukuna is clearly a result of climbing to the top of the food chain after being thrown to the wolves, something which Megumi could become if he learned to wield his power that way and something arguably Gojo tried to push him towards (at least in the sense that Gojo wants to craft Megumi into a successor, into another Gojo). Megumi isn't nearly on Sukuna's level, but Megumi could become Sukuna, someone who only ever wields their power for themselves and only cares about being the strongest. That kind of person would never experience loss and discomfort the way Megumi did when he helplessly watched Tsumiki die. Sukuna is funcitoning as a beast for Megumi to compare himself to, even making Megumi himself feel guilty by getting Tsumiki's blood on his hands via killing her with his technique.
Kenjaku: What's the point of soaking in it? Ura Ume: To be near evil, and to submerge Megumi Fushiguro's soul.
Megumi has to confront Sukuna to learn that he is not like Sukuna. The other option is remaining helpless inside of Sukuna and just letting Sukuna completely have control. Regaining control of his body, and also discovering himself are essentially the same thing in this situation. Jung says that people who are unaware of their shadow, will be controlled by it, or at lest they won't realize that they're the ones messing up when things go wrong and will always attribute it to outside situations like fate instead of realizing they do have control and choices to make.
“The psychological rule says that when an inner situation is not made conscious, it happens outside as fate. That is to say, when the individual remains undivided and does not become conscious of his inner opposite, the world must perforce act out the conflict and be torn into opposing halves.” (Carl Jung)
To briefly reference another manga.
Tumblr media
For Megumi regaining control over his body and assserting himself would also mean accepting that he's the one making choices here, he's the one to blame when things go wrong, and he's responsible. I argued over and over again that Megumi is effectively helpless yes, but that's because he's symbolically a child in order to grow into an adult he would have to learn to take responsibility for his actions like an adult would.
Such a process would also involve having to admit to some degree culpability and fault to his own actions. To become a person living in the world and therefore capable of making mistakes, rather than a dead dinosaur sinking in the tar pits.
“If you imagine someone who is brave enough to withdraw all his projections, then you get an individual who is conscious of a pretty thick shadow. Such a man has saddled himself with new problems and conflicts. He has become a serious problem to himself, as he is now unable to say that they do this or that, they are wrong, and they must be fought against… Such a man knows that whatever is wrong in the world is in himself, and if he only learns to deal with his own shadow he has done something real for the world. He has succeeded in shouldering at least an infinitesimal part of the gigantic, unsolved social problems of our day.” — Carl Jung, Psychology and Religion (1938)
Megumi is obviously not even remotely close to there, not only is he blinded by shadows, but he's been referred to as a fool before this.
Tumblr media
Let fate toy with you, before you die like a fool a prophecy which has been hanging over Megumi's head since the Reggie fight. You could take this as foreshadowing for Megumi's death, but honestly that's only if you're interpreting it in the most literal way possible.
Number one, what is fate in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Characters talk about it, but there's no canonical concept of fate. When Megumi asks Angel what God is, Angel says that you can just refer to God as a set of beliefs they have. In a Jungian reading, Fate is just what we attribute to things we think are out of our control but really aren't. It's not fate toying with Megumi, it's outside factors, and Megumi's own perceived lack of agency in his decision making.
Number two, what is death in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Remember this is the most Jung of the Jung manga, and when I hear die like a fool I think Tarot.
The Fool's Journey is a metaphor for the journey through life. Each major arcana card stands for a stage on that journey - an experience that a person must incorporate to realize his wholeness.
In Tarot a set of 22 major arcana are used as stages in a metaphorical journey where an individual starts out as a newborn, a nobody, and becomes a fully realized individual through a series of stages and trials that prompt self reflection. Megumi would be in this manga the archetypical fool on the fool's journey, because as I said of the four main characters he's the one with the least sense of self and the most helpless. Megumi does not make choices, Megumi is pulled along by the nose.
We begin with the Fool (0), a card of beginnings. The Fool stands for each of us as we begin our journey of life. He is a fool because only a simple soul has the innocent faith to undertake such a journey with all its hazards and pain. At the start of his trip, the Fool is a newborn - fresh, open and spontaneous. The figure on Card 0 has his arms flung wide, and his head held high. He is ready to embrace whatever comes his way, but he is also oblivious to the cliff edge he is about to cross. The Fool is unaware of the hardships he will face as he ventures out to learn the lessons of the world. The Fool stands somewhat outside the rest of the major arcana. Zero is an unusual number. It rests in the exact middle of the number system - poised between the positive and negative. At birth, the Fool is set in the middle of his own individual universe. He is strangely empty (as is zero), but imbued with a desire to go forth and learn. This undertaking would seem to be folly, but is it?
The fool is in the center of his own individual universe, and is also strangely empty, a zero. A person who I'd argue like Megumi has no identity, and has to journey out into the world in order to find one. Once again, I'm arguing Yuji had a normal life for seventeenish years even if he's Kenjaku's science fair project, Nobara was raised in a small village, Megumi is the only person who was born within the small secular world of sorcerers and never experienced anything else (who is also one of the main four characters) and unlike Gojo is helpless and not the strongest dude in existence.
Death is a stage of the fool's journey, it's not the end or even a literal death but a transformation. The fool's journey argues that a symbolic death has to happen of the old self in orderto make room for a new one. Which is true for a lot of things of life, in order to grow into an adult you have to stop being a child. Entering the next stage of life requires leaving behind the last one.
DEATH: The Fool now begins to eliminate old habits and tired approaches. He cuts out nonessentials because he appreciates the basics of life. He goes through endings as he puts the outgrown aspects of his life behind him. He process may seem like dying because it is the death (13) of his familiar self to allow for the growth of a new one. At times this inexorable change seems to be crushing the Fool, but eventually he rises up to discover that death is not a permanent state. It is simply a transition to a new, more fulfilling way of life.
The next stage after death is the temperance, which has you know... an Angel, which there's totally not one of those in Jujutsu Kaisen. While I wouldn't say that JJK is a manga that strictly follows the fool's journey like say Tokyo Ghoul does where you can map out stages of the story to different major arcana, "let fate toy with you before you die like a fool" I think isn't a stretch to connect to the idea of death and what it means to the fool's journey.
Megumi arguably also has to let things die in order to progress as a person. Tsumiki is more or less dead by the beginning of the story. We never see her on her own terms just Megumi's memories and you can't be alive in a memory, there was never any chance of resucing her because we knew she was possessed by Yorozu we were just led into believing she might have been one of the people who awakened a curse technique instead. Megumi in a way as cruel as this sounds needed to let Tsumiki die, because there was nothing he could have done to help her, and he hasn't allowed himself to grieve or mourn her or move past her in any way. His entire identity is built around protecting his princess, but his princess isn't in another castle, she's dead. He needs to find a new identity, a new reason of living, and that can't be Tsumiki or even Yuji because Yuji is just a repeat of Tsumiki even in the sense that both of them are doomed by the narrative.
Megumi needs to let his sister die and mourn her, and that also requires being alive to mourn her when this is all over.
Sukuna: The destruction of Tsumiki Fushiguro will allow me to completely bury Megumi Fushiguro.
Sukuna argues that the death of Tsumiki will be the death of Megumi, but in reality that's just the death of who Megumi used to be. The person who defined himself entirely as being Tsumiki's protector and existing for the sake of her happiness is gone along with Tsumiki, but there's still a chance he could start from scratch. This is what Sukuna compeltely fails to take into account, but then again Sukuna doesn't even understand why people who are weaker than him bother struggling to live in the first place.
Sukuna: Well, allow me to ask. Why are you so weak? You're weak, yet you cling to life. Cotinuing on your path means destruction, yet you wish to be happy as long as possible. You should spend your lives stifling your misery/ Yuji: You should be the one trying to stifle this misery! Suuna: Come coloser. (Hm? Why is he so tough? No, that's not right! It's my cursed energy output that's low!) Damn you, Megumi Fushiguro.
Immediately after seeing this speech about how weak people should stop resisting him because it's futile, watching Yuji continue to resist him sparks inspiration for Megumi to fgiht back from within. All of this showing evidence that Megumi is not doomed, he himself can still move on to form a new identity after this "death" he's experienced of his old ones. In fact it's probably going to be what beats Sukuna, because this is Sukuna's blindspot he doesn't think weak people are capable of resisting him in any way.
Strong and weak are separate categories in his mind, he doesn't think people can grow. But you know, Megumi's whole narrative challenge is to grow up.
Why Megumi, why not Yuji?
Megumi and Yuji are close character foils and a lot of things I said for Megumi could be said for Yuji as well, but I am pretty firm in saying Megumi's going to live instead of either Yuji living, or them both living. As I said this is because of what I think the difference in Yuji and Megumi's arcs are, Megumi is the child that's supposed to grow up that's his backstory, that's what he is symbolically, the child neglected and failed by every adult who came into his life (Toji, Gojo) and by sorcerer society as a whole.
Megumi's goal is individuation, to grow into a fully developed individual, an adult. It would be too tragic even for this manga to have Megumi be neglected and abandoned all his life and then to die like a fool.
Well, wouldn't it be tragic for Yuji, too?
Yes, but Yuji's narrative has been setting us up for that tragedy since the first chapter.
Tragedies aren't just stories where sad things happen, it's a pretty rigidly defined narrative structure. A tragedy just like any story is about set up and pay off. You set up certain ideas early on in the narrative, you prepare your audience for an ending and you deliver on that ending, any last minute flips, twists, unless those are properly set up too are going to be seen as narratively unsatisfying.
Tragedies don't happen because rocks fall and everyone dies. Tragedies in the modern sense happen because of the choices of the characters made over the course of the story, in other words you reap what you sew.
Unlike Megumi's narrative arc which has been setting us up for him to grow up, Yuji's has been setting up the opposite since day one.
Grandpa Itadori: Yuji, you're a strong kid, so help people. It doesn't ahve to be all the time just whenever you can. You may feel lost. Don't expect gratitude. Just help them. When it's your time to go, make sure you're surrounded by others. Don't end up like me.
Yuji's narrative challenge, a literal dying curse given to him by his grandfather is for him to help people in his life so he'll die being surrounded by friends instead of dying alone. Everything Yuji does after that, and swallowing the finger in the first chapter, is contemplating the kind of death he thinks is a "Good/Natural Death" and the kind of ugly and unsatisfying deaths that curses bring on their victims.
Yuji's reason initially for agreeing to be executed is that if he eats all 20 sukuna fingers, then he'll prevent a lot of the unnatural deaths in the world that would have been caused by curses being drawn to those fingers. He draws a line against the abrupt, gruesome, early deaths caused by curses and their victims and the kind of death his grandfather had where he at least had a natural death at the end of a long life.
Death... Well, I can somehow feel death from the school. I'm afraid of dying. I wonder if grndpa was scared of death. No, probably not. I cried because I was sad, not scared. The death I face now, and Grandpa's death... how are they different? You're a strong id, so help epople. He was short-tempered and stubborn. No one went to see him besides me. Don't end up like me, huh? I guess so, but... I think you died peacefully, grandpa. (Faces a curse spirit) This is not a natural death.
No matter who they are, Yuji wants to spare them from an unnatural death, because he on top of that doesn't think he has the right to make judgement calls on who lives and who dies. Yuji is constantly contemplating his own death and what it means from the narrative.
In the Cursed Womb arc, Yuji feels like he can faith his death only for him to become so terrified in the face of fighting a special grade cursed spirit that he loses the ability to keep Sukuna under his control and can't switch back with him after letting him go. Yuji realizes his resolve isnt' as strong as he thinks it is when actually facing death for the first time, but also how to channel those negative emotions into something because he pulls off his first divergent fist in the heat of the motion.
When encountering Junpei and Mahito, not only does Yuji elucidate Junpei on why he doesn't want to make judgement calls on who lives and who dies because even if he inevitably has to be a murderer one day he feels like if he does life will lose its values, he also is confronted with Mahito the antithesis of Yuji's beliefs. Mahito's way of killing is to mutilate humans so horribly they are begging for death, the unnatural death possible. He creates victims who Yuji cannot save and cannot bring a natural death, only be mercy killed, and he creates another one of Junpei right in front of Yuji just as he was on the brink of saving Junpei from his unnatural early death and sparing him instead of hunting him down and killing him as a curse user as he is supposed to.
In The Origin of Obeidence / Death Painting Arc not only does Yuji realize the two people he's killed are living beings who cried for their family members (also his brothers what a twist), but also he is told face to face by Sukuna that his action of eating the first cursed finger which he thought would make less curses appear in the world, actually caused the curse fingers to resonate and draw stronger curses to them. The action that he thought would save more people in the long term, has in fact, killed some people in the short term because of this resonance.
In the Shibuya arc, basically everything is thrown in Yuji's face, what was foreshadowed in the previous arc that eating the fingers with Sukuna might not save a bunch of people in the long term turns out to be true. Now no matter how many people he could save by offering himself to be executed after eating all 20 fingers, Yuji still has caused the massacre of thousands in Shibuya because of eating the finger.
In the aftermath Yuji is mindlessly killing curses as a cog, until at least Megumi shows up and begs for Yuji to "start by saving me..."
Yuji's arc is a self-reflection and contemplation on death, and his goal is to die on his own terms, but also to die surrounded by people unlike his grandpa who would die alone.
Tumblr media
Now, Yuji is currently the only character who has any interest at all in saving Megumi as a first priority (everyone else constantly just talks about the need to put Sukuna down first).
Saving Megumi at the cost of his life, fulfills Yuji's two narrative goals, helping people, and also dying surrounded by others. He also would be rejecting the cog mindset, because Jujutsu Society would say kill Megumi for the greater good above all else, it's what everyone else in this situation is prioritizing first. It's also fulfilling Megumi's request to Yuji "start by saving me..."
Yuji's death is tragic yes, but it would end in a way that's satisfying to his narrative arc. Yuji gets to determine the way he wants to die, and he dies out of choice, not as an unthinking cog, and not alone. Gojo's death is tragic, but it's also satisfying to his narrative, he wanted to live to be the strongest and using his strength selfishly even accomplishing some selfless goals and protecting others for selfish reasons and he got to go out on his own terms.
Yuji is the cage that Kenjaku built to contain Sukuna, and Yuji can probably devise some way to take Sukuna back from Megumi so he can choose once again to die on his own terms, this time at least for the sake of saving a friend who he can die beside.
Megumi's death would be tragic, and also unsatisfying to his narrative, because he wouldn't get the chance to grow up. He's not dying according to his own choice here either, if he's killed alongside Sukuna then he's being mercy killed, or sacrificed for the greater good (the greater good). Megumi didn't choose to get possessed, and if he's killed here by Yuji, or Yuta, or Maki or whoever he's not choosing to die either, or even getting to die fighting like Gojo did.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a tragedy, but it's also one where we have been telegraphed by the narrator that the society will have changed by the end of the narrative. The central goal of the narrative is to allow these ids to grow up in a better world, and become fully realized adults and in order to do that a few of the kids actually have to survive to adulthood. I argue that Megumi will be the one to survive, because he's the most childish, and with the most growing to do. It will still be tragic in a way, Megumi who only lives for others, having to learn to live for himself is about as bittersweet as you can get. However, if Megumi's narrative goal is to learn to live without Tsumiki, without Yuji, then the only way for him to do that is well... to live. Even if it's lonely, or hard, Megumi needs to live on past the end of the manga.

Kyojuro Rengoku x Demon!Male Reader Angst-Fluff? Oneshot (Wattpad)
Title: "A glimpse of the past."
Genre—Angst/Fluff?
Warning(s): MANGA SPOILERS, LONG ONESHOT
A/N: I wrote this at 3-5am so sorry for any grammar or spelling errors!!
Tumblr media
"My love! Be careful, please!" M/N yelled at his husband who almost fell as he was getting something to eat in the kitchen. M/N practically teleported to Kyojuro by his side (thanks to his demon abilities) and caught Kyojuro.
"I'm fine, M/N! I just tripped!" Kyojuro says, trying to calm down the worried M/N as he was brought on his feet again.
"I know, but you're still injured." M/N mumbled, still holding Kyojuro close to him as he was afraid to let him go. Kyojuro smiles at this, seeing how protective M/N is over him.
"M/N." Kyojuro called out his name, moving himself in M/N's arms so he was face to face with M/N.
"Kyo?"
Kyojuro places his hands on M/N's cold cheeks. "It's okay- I'm okay. And you don't have to worry about me going on missions anymore." Kyojuro reassures M/N and reminds him that he retired due to his injury that messed up his internal organs.
M/N nodded as he leaned into Kyojuro's warm touch, closing his eyes while calming himself down.
"I'm sorry." M/N apologizes, hugging Kyojuro, but made sure to not hug too tightly as he was still hurt and bandaged up.
Kyojuro shook his head as he hugged M/N back.
"Don't be! You are being protective and very helpful!" Kyojuro complimented.
M/N smiles, kissing Kyojuro's cheek a good couple of times which made Kyojuro giggle softly.
"Let's get you back to bed and I'll make your favorite." M/N proposed, making Kyojuro perk up.
"Sweet potatoes?" Kyojuro asked as he was clearly happy while his eyes sparkled.
"Mhm! Sweet potatoes." M/N confirmed and was instantly pulled by the flame hair man to the bedroom.
'For an injured man, he is still very strong..!" M/N thought himself as he helped Kyojuro on the futon.
M/N didn't leave Kyojuro's side unless he had to go to work at the market that was near by their shared home, but even then, M/N was there for Kyojuro when he needed it.
The couple was happy and healthy for a human and a demon and very much knowing the consequences of these relationships, so that's why both Nezuko and M/N are hoping for a cure from Lady Tamayo of their unwilling choice of becoming a demon.
Still, Kyojuro and M/N stood strong..
Until, Kyojuro's started to get sick.
M/N and Kyojuro thought that it was a normal fever and it would go away after a day with tea and soup, but it didn't.
M/N's concerns started raising as Kyojuro's health started to slowly decrease by the weeks.
Needing to take care of his husband, M/N took some time off of work.
Everything M/N tried to do, it wasn't working.
Doctors who would all recommend the same equipments over and over, warm clothing, warm tea, soup, different herbs.
Nothing, absolutely nothing was working.
Kyojuro knew what was going to happen and he knew that M/N also knew too, but didn't want to accept that fact.
The fact that Kyojuro was dying.
M/N tried to bring his and Kyojuro's hopes that he would be okay. They knew better.
Slowly, but surely, Kyojuro was getting more ill and weaker by the day as he became pale and started to breath unevenly.
One night, M/N was reading everything from the books on what Kyojuro could have as he sat next to Kyojuro who he thought was sleeping.
Kyojuro struggled to move his body towards M/N for he can see him, he successfully did so and sees how intensely M/N was reading the pages.
Feeling a cough itching at his throat, he lets it out and coughs rather violently then before which caught M/N's attention away from the book.
"Kyo.." M/N mumbled, closing the book and leaving it on the ground as he went over to his husband.
Kyojuro's cough settled down and leaving behind a pain in his throat.
M/N grabbed the cup of water that was sitting besides Kyojuro. "Here, take a slip." M/N says, bring the cup close to Kyojuro who denied it, looking at M/N with sadden eyes that was very out of character of Kyojuro before looking away.
Sad part was the fact that those sadden eyes became familiar to M/N now.
"Please, drink the water.." M/N pleaded, wanting him to drink.
"M/N.." Kyojuro mumbles lowly, making M/N hum.
"Can..can you lay with me?" He asks, his voice hoarse as he looked at M/N once again. M/N instantly nods, placing the cup of water down as he mumbles that of course he will.
Hearing that, Kyojuro weakly smiles and watches M/N taking up the empty space that was next to him. M/N lays on the futon and almost immediately, the two snuggled up with one other.
M/N held Kyojuro close to his body, occasionally kissing Kyojuro's forehead which was hot like it was burning. Kyojuro closes his eyes as he felt himself getting sleeper.
Before he closed his eyes, he told M/N something.
"I love you..so much." Kyojuro says in a soft, sleepy tone.
M/N smiles as he felt his heart break for the 1000th time, kissing Kyojuro's forehead once again, but longer before pulling away.
"I love you too, my love.." M/N says, feeling Kyojuro's body relaxed at his words, Kyojuro went to sleep.
He never woke up from that sleep.
His warm body now cold and still in M/N's arms.
M/N's eyes had tears flowing out of his eyes, wanting to breakdown and cry out to his one and only. Hoping that this was part of a fucked up dream.
Throughout the night, M/N heard Kyojuro's heart slowing down as he slept and tried to help any way he could.
He tried everything, but at last, it was already too late and now, M/N was holding Kyojuro's body in his arms, his throat tightening and his chest wanting to let out sobs. Nothing left M/N, only tears.
M/N sat on the ground of his bedroom of his house.
His. Not his and Kyojuro's. Just his.
Hell, he can't even call it a home anymore.
M/N didn't attend his funeral, he couldn't. He couldn't accept the fact that his best friend is dead. He can't face anyone without them saying how sorry they were or talk about loss. M/N can't handle it.
M/N could've died of a broken heart days ago, but he didn't and couldn't as he was a demon and can't die, so he suffers every. single. day.
He hated the fact that he was a demon. He hated it. Why did he become a demon? Why him? Why couldn't he be a demon that could have the ability to turn people so Kyojuro could've been live.
Wouldn't that be selfish? Kyojuro wouldn't want that.
Out of anger of his thoughts, M/N threw the glass cup that was next to him at the wall, watching it break into pieces as the harsh impact was seen on the wall.
M/N was about to throw more stuff, but was stopped when he heard knocking on the front door. M/N didn't want to leave the bedroom, wanting the person to go away until the knocks started to get aggressive, making him slowly leave the room.
His feet dragging across the floor as M/N didn't look around the house. It was him and only him. No Kyojuro greeting him, no Kyojuro reading in silence, No Kyojuro.
M/N made it the door. M/N wiped whatever he had on his face and opened it.
Seeing Uzui standing there, looking quite angry as his beefy arms were crossed.
"You weren't at the funeral." Uzui started. M/N didn't say anything, but nodding slowly.
"Rengoku wouldn't want you-"
"Shut up." M/N demanded, not wanting to even hear his name.
"No, you know he wouldn't want you to do this to yourself-!"
"And you think I don't know that?!"
"Clearly, you don't as you didn't even go to your husband's funeral! Your husband!"
"I think I know that he was my husband, Tengen!"
Silence came the two of them for a moment before Uzui called his name.
"M/N.. He would want you to do something with your life. It doesn't have to be now, or next week, or even a year. Rengoku wouldn't want you to grieve for him like this and I know that for a fact.." Uzui says in a low tone.
M/N felt tears welling up in his eyes, looking on the ground.
"I'll help you get an idea.. Do you still do those flamboyant paintings?" Uzui asked which M/N answered with a slight head shake.
"Well, there you go! Now, if you do decide on doing that, make sure you do my painting first and flamboyant!" Uzui exclaimed.
'A painting, huh?'
M/N was sitting in front of a canvas, a brush in hand as well as fresh paints he bought.
As he went to put the brush in the paints, he realized that he couldn't do this. He remembered when he used to paint a lot when he was dating Kyojuro.
Kyojuro loved his paintings.
M/N didn't noticed that his hand was shaking and puts the paint in the water, washing it off and puts it against the canvas before getting up.
He was going to leave, however, he stayed there, looking back on the canvas.
~ 𝟐𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐲 ~
M/N fixed his black suit as he stood in front of a bathroom mirror. Looking at himself as he looked for any imperfections on his suit or anywhere.
Thinking that he is overthinking this, he walked away from the mirror and leaves the public bathroom, but without forgetting to use hand sanitizer which he put into his hands, rubbing it in.
M/N was walking through a museum of many paintings from over 1000 years ago or recent paintings that became famous.
Walking through people who were fascinated by the many different paintings and art styles, M/N finally made it to the place where he needed to be.
The place where his painting was at.
He was quite surprised of the amount of people that were near it and complimenting it.
"Woah, such a beautiful painting! I wonder who is that person though!"
"I know, right? That person has such vibrant hair!"
"He's pretty!"
"I love this painting!"
"Wow!!"
M/N smiles at the people complementing it, staying behind until some of them started leaving for other paintings.
M/N finally gotten close to his panting enough to see it once again.
The paintings was.. Kyojuro.
It was the day of his and Kyojuro's first festival together. M/N remembered the day clearly and remembers how happy Kyojuro was.
M/N sadly smiles at the picture, reliving the memories for a small moment.
M/N suddenly felt someone standing next to him, admiring the picture. M/N was about to leave, but something caught his attention.
"This painting is absolutely stunning!!"
The person's voice was loud and familiar, making M/N stand in place, holding his breath as tears that haven't left him for over a couple of decades ago started to well in his eyes.
He couldn't help and looks at the person next to him.
It was Kyojuro Rengoku.
His one and only alive again.
His husband standing next to him after over 100 years.
If M/N's heart can beat, it would at this moment. Beating so hard that you could think someone could hear it without getting so close.
It didn't take long for the man to look at M/N who looked away instantly, not baring to look at his eyes.
The flame hair man felt a familiar yet unfamiliar feeling he got from the (H/C) hair man.
It was like he knew him, but he is complete stranger.
"I'm Kyojuro Rengoku!" He introduced himself, waiting for the man to introduce himself.
M/N finally got the courage to look at Kyojuro who was already looking at him. M/N felt the familiar and sickly feeling of love again after over 100 years of grief.
"I'm..I'm M/N L/N."
Kyojuro smiles, flashing a smile that M/N so dearly missed.
"S-so, do you want to get coffee sometime?" M/N blurted out as he mentality slapped himself.
Kyojuro gently chuckles, noticing the attempt that M/N tried to do.
"I wouldn't mind! Do you want to exchange numbers or..?"
"Oh-! Yes!" M/N said, pulling out his phone as Kyojuro also pulled out his.
"Look at that! Two of my best friends meeting!" A loud flamboyant like voice boomed in the museum as the owner of the voice came to the two.
"I see you know Tengen too!" Kyojuro says as M/N nods.
"Yes, I do! I know him lil' too much to know that fact that he has mice-"
"Shut up!" Tengen yells, making the other two men laugh.
"I have to go, but text me or don't be afraid to call about that coffee!" Kyojuro says, making M/N nod in agreement.
Kyojuro went his way, waving goodbye at the two before taking off.
"Look at you! M/N L/N going on a date, but the date idea is so unflamboyant of you that my mice have better date ideas-"
"Shut up or I will become your wives' new husband." M/N fake smiled and then leaving Tengen behind.
"WHAT!"
M/N stared at the cure that Lady Tamayo made before she died. The cure that makes a demon into human again.
This is M/N's chance to restart his life with Kyojuro, living as humans and finally growing old together.
The same incident with the sickness that killed Kyojuro wouldn't happen again because medicine had upgraded since 1912.
Hearing his phone alerting him that he got a text message, he broke eye contact with the cure and looked on his phone, seeing that it was from Kyojuro.
Kyo :
Tomorrow? At the new cat café? Cats can be a good ice breaker! :)
Yes! Definitely, meet you there?
Kyo :
Yes, I'll see you there!
:)))
I want to make this into a book (5am Thought)

Someone comparing 90's anime Mamoru to women in shonen and saying that's a bad thing annoys me so much, because it's not even true lmao.
First of all, it implies it's SO horrible for one anime in the world to not treat a male character as central. gasp the horror. God forbid a man be treated like a woman is.
second, no he isn't treated like a woman in an average (battle) shonen anime, he's treated much better. the average love interest in a shonen anime doesn't make a dramatic entrance to save the male character in most episodic battles. She would never be considered the male characters cool amazing savior that he gets heart eyes over and he's constantly trying to be good enough to date her.
Like yeah Mamoru gets kidnapped and brainwashed for Usagi to save with more frequency that other male characters, but that literally happens just as much in the manga. Probably the only time his treatment is comparable to a woman in (most) shonen is in Stars, where he's quickly killed off without much of a fight to make Usagi sad and does nothing else besides that. Much like [spoiler] in JJK I guess, only at least Usagi actually cared that he was dead/missing, so still better!
Mamoru is also EXTREMELY involved in the plot the first season and R, in the way a love interest in shonen anime would not get to be. He has extended character arcs in both seasons. A woman in your average shonen anime would not get to be an intimidating villain who is the boss the hero has to face before the big bad and who genuinely beats the hero up a bit. Nor would she be as central in any plot about parenthood- look how the moms in Boruto are treated.
Yeah, the 90s anime doesn't care about Mamoru as much as the girls. Boo hoo. How dare one piece of media in the world not give as much attention to a man. Yes, Naoko gave Mamoru much more prominence, but also focused a bit less on the friendship between the girls than the anime did. It's a tradeoff! Which do you prefer? Neither answer is wrong (though I do think a lot of gay fans are more here for the girls and that's not a bad thing lmao). It's not some great injustice that was done to him, anymore than there's a great injustice done to the non-Usagi girls in the manga. There's just different approaches. And you can't just say anyone on the team had a "disdain" for him without proof. Ikuhara featured him prominently in the R movie, before you take his joke about Mamoru seriously. Mamoru's always very central to Usagi's emotions, if they really had "disdain" for him, why does she think about him so much and miss him so much in Stars?
I'm just saying: don't downplay just how shittily women get treated in male-centered media because you're pressed Tuxedo Mask didn't get his smoking bomber attack. Mamoru has it VERY EASY compared to women in shonen.

So Rose! As per usual I'm gonna request Hitoshi.
But I want to hear about a freshly turned vampire Hitoshi having hidden his turning into a being of the darkness. Then finds himself nearly fainting and due to lack of blood. They figure out and offer themselves to him as his source of feeding. So he vows to stay loyal and only feed on them (as they're established partners already) :)
Hi @hitoshisbf 😃This request of yours definitely sounds fun to write about😁👍Also this is my first time I recall writing any character, as a vampire, so I will see what I can do with writing this requested Hitoshi Shinsou fanfic🧛😃👍And as usual (if not always) pertaining the fanfics you requested I will be writing the reader as they/them reader😁👍
*This fanfic contains 1 or more long paragraphs😅
Tumblr media
💜🧛(Adult) Shinsou The Newly Vampire🧛💜 (Hitoshi Shinsou x They/Them reader)
Genres: Mild Angst (Warning⚠️: Blood and Mentions Of Blood)
Your pro hero boyfriend, Hitoshi Shinsou, used to fight crime especially during the day, however after he came home from defeating a villain, things have changed. While it's good he has been sleeping better than usual, however he's been trying sleep in complete darkness during the day, then he has been fighting crime during nighttime. It's mainly fire and sunlight that he doesn't want around him for some reason. You just knew he was hiding something (if not multiple things) from you.
Then one night you gave noticed Hitoshi Shinsou has been nearly fainting, and when you got up close to his face you noticed fangs, as you asked him, "Are you a vampire? If yes, then why didn't you tell me?", as you had your suspicions about Shinsou becoming a freshly turned vampire, being the reason why he has become unlike his usual self. Shinsou then answered, "Yes, I'm a vampire now, (They/Them Reader Name)... You must understand... It has only been recent that this happened... I was fighting a vampire villain and he must have bitten me before I defeated him... After I defeated him, that's when sunlight has been bothering me... The reason why I haven't told you is, because I don't know if you would see me as nothing more than a monster and treat me differently... I'm afraid you wouldn't have love me anymore, if you were to find out I became a vampire, no matter the reason...".
While you weren't shocked about him being a vampire, you were really shocked about his reason why he kept the fact he became a new vampire, as long as he did. You then replied, "So this is why you kept this from me, Shinsou... I wish you would have told me! I don't care, if you're a human or a vampire... I would have still love you the same! If you would have told me sooner, you wouldn't have been nearly fainting like this! Here... Take my blood... You're lacking blood, which is why you're fainting! I gave read plenty of books especially manga and comic books about why newly vampires faint and that they need blood to survive... It's essential that you take some of my blood, atleast once in a while, for you to stay alive, Hitoshi!". Shinsou had to think about this for a minute before replying back, "If it's the only way to stay alive, fine then... However my vow to is that I will stay loyal to you and I will only feed off you... I refuse to feed off anyone else... Only you, (They/Them Reader Name)...".
You understood what he meant and agreed on his vow, as you then have him bite you, inorder for him to be able to feed off you. After the moment of his first time feeding off you, not only he feels like he's no longer fainting, he also decided he's going to take care of you, since you did willingly decide to be his source of feeding. Eversince then, the both of you have been taking care of eachother and never looking back.
🧛💜The🩸End💜🧛
Okay my Tumblr Peeps I hope you enjoyed the first fanfic I involved any character being a vampire, even if it's a freshly turned vampire🧛😁👍As for you Aevyn I hope I did well with writing this Vampire Shinsou fanfic😃👍As for genres I think mild angst is all of could think of using as genres considering How I have written the fanfic and stuff that is requested with the fanfic😅🧛😃👍

Why is it offensive to so many SNS fans to even consider that Gaara and Naruto would make a good couple? IF (one BIG if) there was a scenario where Sasuke had died in the end and Naruto hadn't, which would never be at Naruto's hands btw but then so many others wanted Sasuke gone, would you not want to see Naruto have some comfort? Who would have given it to him? Who would be capable of it? Sakura? HINATA??? Kakashi? Sai? All of these are emotionally inept ass people.
Gaara is perhaps only second to Sasuke in Naruto's eyes, in terms of connection and mutual empathy. Gaara is the only other character to get a retrieval arc where Naruto is the pursuer. Gaara is the only other person Naruto goes absolutely feral for, and no, Hinata in Pein arc doesn't count. Totally different contexts. Gaara is the only other person than Sasuke that Naruto shows a deep personal connection with. Gaara after all was also a jinchuuriki, who shared similar and perhaps even worse predicament than Naruto, as Naruto himself acknowledged.
Naruto and Gaara share a mutual understanding. They care for each other deeply. And God forbid, if something had happened to Sasuke, I would certainly want Gaara to be with Naruto and knowing Gaara, he would be there, no matter what. If Naruto were on Mars, Gaara would find a way to be there for him. Gaara loves Naruto, he understands Naruto, and Sasuke as well to quite an extent. Naruto also is aware of Gaara in part two, even though it's Sasuke whom he loves. But there is certainly a mutual fascination and attraction between them, a certain awareness, kindredness. So if Naruto ended up with Gaara after it all, I would not resent that ending. I would be pleased to see that Naruto at least, finally gets some love and affection after starving for it for so long. As in when Sasuke wasn't there. And who better than Gaara to give it? Gaara is the only person who would even stand a chance to be able to comfort Naruto in case of Sasuke's demise. Nothing would make Gaara happier than making Naruto happy. He would make it his life's mission.
Naruto chose Sasuke over everyone, including Gaara, so there's no doubt that Sasuke is Naruto's priority over everyone. But damn, I just want to see my boy happy. Gaara won't make him happy the way Sasuke does. Naruto wouldn't even want to live if Sasuke was gone. But Gaara is quite the lover in his own right. And he loves Naruto, truly. He knows the deprivation of love, just like Sasuke and Naruto, he knows how it feels to be at the receiving end of people's hate and indifference. And he learnt what it meant to be cared for and valued because of Naruto. The same thing Sasuke did for Naruto. He gave up his life for Naruto in waves arc which in turn made Naruto realize how deeply he felt for Sasuke all along and how much it meant to him to be valued in such a way by another person. That this is what it means to be family. Gaara had a change of heart because Naruto showed him that he was valued and understood. That he wasn't alone anymore. Naruto hurt for Gaara too. So much. Naruto is passionate about Gaara. He shed tears for him, he wailed and screamed and raged and turned into a beast for him. Gaara is a very well written character and he has a well developed, actually quite beautiful relationship with Naruto. Their relationship and its development gets a lot of visibility in the manga as well.
I also recognise the fact that if it were actually possible to make Naruto end up with Gaara, Naruto would have definitely ended up with Sasuke. Heh. But that's not the point I am making. I don't actively ship Gaara with Naruto. But seeing them together makes me happy and fact is, them ending with each other would be a thousand times better than what we have now.

Gen [memories]: His eyes have been full of kindness lately.
Isaki [thoughts]: Where??
Isaki [thoughts]: Those are not the eyes of a child. Normally, it would've been impossible.
Isaki [thoughts]: Something like this... I've never even raised a child before, this is way out of my league---...
Isaki: !!
Isaki: Eh? Wai- Where are you goi--
Chika's father: Leave him!!
Isaki: Still...

Gen [thoughts]: I leave it to you.

Isaki [thoughts]: What should I do if he got in a fight again?
Isaki [thoughts]: There he is...
Isaki [thoughts]: For now, let's just call out to him. He will probably reject me but... Wait, if I get rejected, is there anything I can do after that? We've just met, so... The most practical thing for me to do would be to go back and call my brother.

Isaki: ....Oh. Um...
Isaki: ...
Isaki: ...Do you know who I am? I'm your father's younger sister.
Isaki: Dad... Did Grandpa ever tell you about me?
Chika: ...
Isaki: About my brother... I think he's just a little bit preoccupied right now, so… maybe you should talk to him when he's a bit calmer and...
Chika: It's fine.
Chika: I really couldn't care less about that.
Page 8
Isaki: What? But...
Isaki [thoughts]: He was crying so hard just now...
Isaki [thoughts]: ...Ah.
Isaki [thoughts]: ...I see...
Isaki: You... Truly loved Grandpa.

Isaki: Next up is the living room.
Isaki: And finally-- Your room!!
Sfx: Ta-daaaan
Chika: ...
Isaki: You got nothing to say about it...?
Chika: I'm fine just with a place to sleep in.
Isaki [thoughts]: I was just kidding... I planned on partitioning the living room to create a room for him but...
Isaki: ..............Whatever, I guess.
Page 14
Chika [Sfx]: Look around
Isaki: Hm? Are you looking for something?
Chika: ...I was just thinking that there aren't any kotos around here.
Isaki: Aah.
Isaki: I used to play it a little a long time ago. Now, not at all.
Isaki: My job is related to events so I sometimes get exposed to it from time to time.
Chika: Hmmmm.
Isaki: What, did you want to play the koto?
Chika: Nah, I can't play.
Isaki: Is that right? My fathe... Grandpa told me on the phone before
Isaki: "Chika played the koto!" He was so happy when he said that.
Page 15
Isaki [thoughts]: ----Ah.
Chika: ...Hmmm.
Isaki [thoughts]: His eyes light up as soon as Grandpa is mentioned
Isaki [thoughts]: That's probably his true self...
Sfx: Ruuumble
Isaki: ...Did you hear that?
Chika: ...Well, yeah.
Isaki: That's because I'm hungry. It's almost six, let's have dinner.
Isaki: What do you want to eat? We can go eat out or order delivery---
Chika: I don't need anything.
Page 16
Isaki: ...What?
Chika: Food, I mean... I'll be fine even with little food.
Isaki: What are you even saying??
Chika: It's enough if you just lend me a place to sleep.
Chika: I don't plan on coming for anything except to sleep.
Chika: Today I will also go somewhere else until night hits.
Chika: About my clothes... I would be thankful if you let me leave them here.
Isaki: I will make it.
Chika: ------Eh?
Isaki: Today, Isaki-sama, for your well-being, from the bottom of her heart, will cook for you. So eat. Until there isn't a single crumb left.
Page 17
Isaki: Right now, the only things I have in the fridge are water, alcohol, and snacks. I gotta do some shopping.
Chika: Eh? Wai-
Isaki: Ah, are you coming with me?
Chika: If there's anything you need, we can buy it.
Chika: ...Well, no ...There's really nothing.
Isaki: That so? Well, just stay at home then.
Chika: !
Chika: ...
Isaki: What, you coming then? Is there something you want?
Chika: ...There's nothing, really...
Page 18
Isaki [thoughts]: Yeaaaaaah, I don't get it.
Isaki [thoughts]: He is following me, but he is so far away.
Isaki [thoughts]: Well, you know? Of course, right? From a junior high school student's point of view, a woman around 30 years old is considered an old woman, right?. I'm sure it's embarrassing to walk around with one, right?
Isaki [thoughts]: I totally bought too much.
Isaki [thoughts]: Whatever--- It's just a 5-minute walk...
Sfx: Grap.
Page 19
Isaki [thoughts]: Oh?
Isaki [thoughts]: Ooooh...?
Isaki: Wai- At least let me carry one of those.
Chika: ...
Isaki: Hey!
Chika [Sfx]: Power walking
Isaki: Wha-!?
Isaki: Wait right there! Hey!!
Isaki: Don't ignore me!!
Isaki: Listen here!! I get that you don't want to walk with me but
Isaki: That kind of thing is still hurtful, you know!? I'm grateful you are carrying the bags, though!!
Page 20
Chika: Ah, no.
Chika: That's not... it.
Isaki: Come again?
Chika: ...Did you see how it ended up? Gramps house, I mean.
Chika: It'd better for you not to be seen around me.
Page 21
Isaki: Are you underestimating adults?
Isaki: Gramps house? Yeah, I took a good look at it with these two eyes. It was the worst among the worst.
Isaki: I think the people who did that are really shitty kids. And you're a fool for hanging out with them.
Page 22
Isaki: When I first heard about the incident, to be honest, I was super pissed with you.
Isaki: I thought it was too much trouble, I wanted nothing to do with it.
Isaki: But once I actually met you, you were only a child crying for the death of his grandpa.
Isaki: You have reflected and regretted. But you are still someone who hasn't learned how to look forward, at all.
Isaki: Don't you dare try to put yourself in front of me to try and protect me.
Page 23
Isaki: There's no way I will run from some brats who try to belittle my nephew.
Isaki: I will use my power as an adult to turn the tables on them-
Isaki: So you can rest at ease, and walk beside me. And every day, you can come home normally!!
Isaki: Do you understand!?
Page 24
Isaki: Come on, let's go.
Chika: Carrying it like this is embarrassing....
Isaki; Oh, is that so? Let go, then, and let me carry these heaaaavy bags all on my own.
Chika: Ugh...
Chika: ...
Page 25
Isaki [thoughts]: That night
Isaki [thoughts]: For the first time in several years I cooked
Isaki [thoughts]: A fucking disgusting A slightly different curry
Isaki [thoughts]: Chika did exactly as I told him.
Isaki [thoughts]: And didn't leave a single crumb.
Page 26
Isaki [thoughts]: He is more honest than I thought.
Isaki [thoughts]: And he is extremely clumsy.
Isaki [memory]: ----Eh? You don't want to go to high school and want to start working directly instead? Is there a work you are interested in?
Chika[memory]: There's nothing like that but, normally I would have to pay rent, and earn my living. I wanna pay for it.
Isaki[memory]: What, now?
Isaki[memory]: Your father will be paying for all your expenses, isn't that obvious?
Isaki[memory]: You don't want to depend on your father?
Chika[memory]: Ugh...
Isaki[memory]: Well, is not like I don't understand where you are coming from, but.
Page 27
Isaki [memory]: If there's anything you can use, use it.
Isaki[memory]: If you can rely on something or someone, do it.
Isaki[memory]: There's nothing to be embarrassed about.
Isaki[memory]: For once, forget about things like money and whatnot. Just think about what you want for yourself.
Isaki[memory]: But if after that, you still want to work, then I will support you.
Chika [thoughts]: ...What I want for myself...
Chika [thoughts]: ..............
Chika [thoughts]: I have no clue--... I don't have a hobby or any kind of special talent. Nothing.
Page 28
Chika [thoughts]: ...Truly. I really have nothing.
Chika [thoughts]: Nothing...
Gen [memory]: Chika!
Isaki [thoughts]: I'm home---
Chika [Sfx]: Stare
Isaki: Eh? What is it? You are scaring me.
Isaki: What, did you break something?
Chika: I didn't break anything.
Isaki: What is it, then?
Page 29
Chika: .....
Chika: Ther-
Chika: There's something I... Want.
Isaki: ! What is it?
Chika: ----------
Chika: Pi- picture...
Chika: I want a picture.
Chika: ....Of Gramps.
Chika: I
Chika: Don't have even one... so.
Page 30
Chika: If it's not doable, that's fine.
Isaki: Eh- no-! It's totally doable!!! Pictures, huh! I will bring them over!
Isaki: These are albums.
Chika: Are these all Gramps'?
Isaki: Well, there are also other family members in them.
Isaki: You can grab whichever picture you like.
Chika: ...Thanks
Chika [thoughts]: Oooh...
Page 31
Chika [thoughts]: Around this age, I can already tell it's Gramps.
Chika[memory]: Koto club? What's that, a club where you play koto?
Gen [memory]: Yeah. I was the founder of the Tokise Koto Club!
Page 32
Chika: ---...This.
Isaki: Hm? Ahhh, that's a picture of when the Koto Club was first founded.
Chika: ...Does this club
Chika: Still exist?
Isaki: If I remember correctly, it's still there, but----
Gen [memory]: Do you want to give it a try?
Gen [memory]: Haha, you are pretty good.
Gen [memory]: You actually seem pretty talented.
Isaki [memory]: "Chika played the koto!" He was so happy when he said that.
Page 33
Isaki: -----...
Isaki: Did you find what you want to do?
Page 34
Chika: I wonder if it's too late for me to aim to go to high school.
Isaki: Well, that depends on how much effort you put on i---
Isaki: Wait a second!! You have to submit an application form for the entrance exam! When is the deadline!? It's already December!!
Isaki: Will we make it on time?
Chika: I will go ask Tetsuki!!
Isaki: Eh? Who is Tetsuki!?
Chika: It's ok! I will make it on time!! If I tell Tetsuki, it will be fine, for sure!!
Isaki: Ok, but who is Tetsuki!!??
Chika: Uh... I
Chika: Will go to Tokise and
Chika: I will join the Koto Club Gramps created!!!
Page 35
Isaki [thoughts]: Thank you, Dad. For leaving a light for Chika.
Isaki: That's great!!
Isaki: Well then, from now on, it's full-time studying!
Chika: Starting tomorrow I will ask Tetsuki to help me study, so I will pass for sure!
Isaki: What the hell is a Tetsuki!!!???
Side text: I hope this sound reaches the heavens----...
Isaki [thoughts]: Chika won't lose sight of that light, and this time I will be right beside him.
Isaki [thoughts]: Please, look after us.

Really late, but here's my ekuoto chapter 70 commentary. Nothing special, just me freaking out. You know. The usual.
Watch out for spoilers!
Dante got a very special dialogue balloon with "..." in it. Which is curious to me. I'm sure it means some sort of reflection or surprise happening within him; I really want to what he's thinking. How do you feel? Knowing that the that child you were entrusted can't even bear to be awake anymore? That he runs to escapism? Must suck. Anyway.
On the other hand, dearest Daniel is real composed. Good job on getting info out of Belphegor. That's not really a high bar, though lmao... I mean, how are you a demon and can't LIE? Embarrassing... Go back to demon high school or something. Fall from grace again! The whole premise of your existence is being a lying thing that leads people to sin, and you're here having communication issues??? Dude. That's so moe.
Everyone thinking Belph's got something up his sleeve is fucking hilarious. No. Sorry. He's not Kira or anything like that. It's not all according to his "keikaku". He's just kinda dumb and suffers from Villain Monologue Syndrome...
Him saying "my witch", though... ough! (takes critical hit)
Really funny how he showed him off sleeping and everything. Why are you bragging? Is this something to show off? I guess it is for you... I'd be embarrassed if all my coworkers suddenly saw me sleeping on a plasma 100" inch TV, though. Maybe have a little consideration! Also, I don't think anyone's mentioned this before, but I think it's a cool detail that Priest's in a fetal position. Not only does this position bring one comfort, but it can also represent how he's about to be "reborn" as a witch of Sloth. The sphere he's sleeping in can kinda be a uterus, right?
Tumblr media
Belphegor and Mikhail replying to each other while Leah was suffering out of confusion was funny. She got the straight man role forced onto her. Miha's "I see!" was cute. Very casual, as if he wasn't talking to a Demon Lord lol. To be fair, Bel is not really intimidating.
Meanwhile, Vir is busy trying to lead his shounen manga team to victory... (or not really.) They'll definitely get some piece of Belphegor though. I wonder what it'll be... he doesn't have anything like Asmodeus' eyes sticking out, so this is a mystery to me.
Tumblr media
Me when I get excited about an interest of mine and end up yapping too much
Dante and Vergilius are heading to the same place, so they'll meet up again... I'm looking forward to the mess that comes out of that 👀.
Imuri needs to step up her game, or I'll be taking matters into my own hands because this is ridiculous. Femme Fatale? Wtf are you talking about. Fraudmuri. The Demon Lord of Fraud. Her true title.
Tumblr media
Her biggest crime so far is being more in love with the idea of being in love with Priest than actually caring for him. Does that make sense? So far, she hasn't done any effort in actually coming to know him. She needs to KNOW!!!! At least I can respect that she also takes male rivals seriously... and her aggressiveness towards them. Lole.
Tumblr media
She doesn't call Priest "sleepyhead" in the JP raws. I don't really mind the addition, but I thought it was worth noting here anyway. Makes it cute.
"It'll be over soon" Naw bro Imuri is coming at you with a fucking sledgehammer. Watch out.
Tiny Imuri is so fawking cute. I've been craving these Imuri flashbacks for forever because we know virtually nothing about her. What moves her. Why does she long to love!! We'll know in due time, I guess. But please show me a bit of it, Aruma-sensei...
Asmodeus being considerate enough to make sexual things vague to Imuri is nice, but it confuses me a bit. Well. I shan't dwell on it, lest my head blows up.
Imuri seems to have some complex about being a demon with no demon power, because she keeps asserting that she is a demon? Am I explaining this properly? Like in this chapter (ch.70) and chapter 3.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anywho.
Imuri imagining the BL route... save me... my fucking sides... I burst out laughing the first time my eyes laid on that panel. True to her succubus nature, she didn't even consider the possibility of them using blood or whatever else instead of straight-up KISSING. Those are still bodily fluids, right?? Calm down, girl! Stay put!!!
"I'm not letting his first kiss go to some guy that just appeared!!" HE'S BEEN THERE FOR A DECADE! YOU ARE THE NEWCOMER!!! IMURI, GIRL!! You absolute buffoon! Clown, even!
Whew. Lmao.
This arc also feels like a callback to that one "sleeping beauty" comment from chapter 3.
Tumblr media
...except their roles have switched.
This time, Imuri will be the one kissing Father on the cheek to wake him up, and it'll be so, so cute. Trust. Trust me. This will happen. (Going insane).
Go and make him your witch, Imuri... Dew it... Make a move... (screaming and crying)

Hi, may I request for Hak x Reader please? Reader is the neglected princess and wife of Hak. Since they're travelling he's always with Yona and Yona also doesn't let them be together being so stupid. So they have a big argument also with Yona but the dragons and Yoon also try to stop them but the reader snaps. She announces to divorce him and leave. When they meet again she's with another person happily something like that
You weren't the right one
Manga/anime: Akatsuki no Yona
Warnings: angst, with a bitter-sweet ending
(Y/N): your name
(S/O): significant other (not Hak)
Tumblr media
Is being envious a bad thing? Is it that bad to feel it? Is it so bad that I'm jealous of her? I know, I know I shouldn't be jealous, but I can't help it: Hak, my husband, loves Yona, my sister, and I feel terrible.
To be honest, I've always known this, yet I loved him so much I agreed to marry him when my father proposed it to me.
I still remember what I thought when he proposed marriage to me: maybe you won't be the right one, but I still want to be your wife, Hak.
Finally, I gave in to a selfish desire of mine: I hoped I would be able to make him fall in love with me, but I couldn't.
~ 💙 ~
Why, Hak? Why don't you look at me? Why do you console Yona and not me? The one who was killed was also my father, not just her.
"Hak?"
"Not now (Y/N). Yona-hime (princess Yona) is sleeping."
"Yes..." You shouldn't hug only her.
I'm not saying you shouldn't console her, but at least pretend you care a little about me. At least try to console me: hug me and say sweet words to me, like you did with Yona.
Please...
~ 💙 ~
Since we began our journey to find the Four Dragons, I've been trying to spend some time with Hak, but Yona wouldn't let me: she kept butting in every time we were alone! I sometimes feel like she does it on purpose, but Yona isn't that kind of person, especially after what happened to our father.
I've also noticed Hak is becoming a lot more protective, not only of Yona but of others as well. However, I wish he was so protective of me too, but instead everything remained as before.
However, I'm your wife, Hak! I'm not asking for maximum attention, but I would at least like you to go a little beyond the "good morning" when you wake up and the "good night" before going to sleep (by the way, not even with me). I mean, everyone we meet thinks your wife is Yona and not me! Even the Dragons thought so the first time we met.
Really: you aren't probably the right one...
~ 💙 ~
I can't take it anymore! Every day is harder and harder!
I'm dying of jealousy for Hak and Yona, and I feel terrible. I don't want to be jealous, but I'm not entirely wrong either: nothing has improved since the start of the trip.
Everything is like when we were at the castle...
~ 💙 ~
"Hello, Hak! How are you?"
"Fine." He didn't even look at me.
"Emmm... What are you doing today?" How stupid! I couldn't ask a stupider question: he's obviously looking at my sister!
"I'm looking at Yona-hime. Do you need something?"
"I-I would like to know if you would be willing to come with me to the market one day."
"Sorry, (Y/N)-hime (princess (Y/N)), I can't go out with you: I'm busy taking care of your sister." As always, after all.
Otou-sama (father), why can't I have a bodyguard too? Why does only Yona have it? Why don't you ever consider me?
Why doesn't anyone consider me?
~ 💙 ~
"I'm not clingy or demanding! I just want… I just want to know why it seems like I don't matter to you. I'm your wife!"
Hak and I are arguing. I didn't like feeling these kinds of emotions and I couldn't stand that situation anymore, so I told Hak about it, thinking it might be a good idea. Of course, I didn't expect him to become more affectionate with me, but I hoped he would at least understand me a little and tone down his attention on Yona.
"You are, but you aren't my first priority, and it's time you realized that and stopped getting in my way! I'm tired of you nagging me all the time! Stay away from me for a while and go away!"
What?
What he said?
I? Clingy to him?
"What did you say?"
"You've heard." His voice is chilling; he's really angry.
"Hak, nee-san (big sister), you two should calm down." I can't stand her anymore! Always getting in the way!
"Shut up! I'm really angry with you too!"
"Why? What have I done?" She really is so damn innocent and stupid! She doesn't understand anything!
"Do you even dare ask me? Are you stupid? Since we left, you've been complaining about wanting to get stronger, but what have you actually done? Have you ever managed to do anything? To save someone? Not to be protected? Do you know how much you annoyed me? I'm not like you: I had no one to protect me, even though I was the eldest daughter and heir to the throne. I had to defend myself, I had to learn to fight alone, I always did everything alone! Don't you dare come here, after you keep putting my husband in danger and fluttering your eyelashes at him, even though he's married to your sister!"
It all happens in an instant: a noise, and then a very strong pain in my right cheek.
Huh? What?
"Don't you ever dare talk to Yona-hime like that again!" Hak?
Was it you? Did you hit me on the cheek? Did you hit your wife to protect another woman? How...
"Hak?"
"Don't call me that anymore and don't be with us anymore. Go away."
"W-what?" How could you say that?
Tears stream down my face.
I feel terrible. My head hurts, I can't breathe, I feel dizzy...
I know, or rather I've always known, Hak cares more about Yona than me and he'll always protect her, despite everything.
I always knew, Hak, I always knew you aren't the right one for me...
"All right. If that is what you all want, I'll walk away. Hak, don't think of me as your wife anymore: you and I no longer exist. I hope you and Yona will be happy together. Goodbye."
~ 💙 ~
It's been a while since I've been away from my sister, Hak and the others, and I couldn't feel better: I found a man, (S/O), who really loves me, who I care about a lot. However, the story with Hak is still an open wound in my heart, even if my current boyfriend understands me and he never makes me worry about this; he's just a perfect boy!
Now, (S/O) and I are at the market buying everything we need to make our lunch. I'm at the fruit stand; he moved away from me because he had met one of his friends.
While I'm choosing fruit to buy, a familiar sound reaches my ears: Hak! Although my mind isn't even processing everything that is happening, my body is already reacting to his voice, so I look around almost desperately to find him: I start running in the direction from which I heard his voice, colliding with some people and risking tripping several times, until I reach him.
Here, right in front of me, there's the man I've loved almost my entire life. He's as beautiful as ever: his blue eyes, which I have always loved to look at, shine like the sea, and his smile is as warm as the embrace of a loved one. However, what makes me so sad is the fact his smile isn't directed at me: he's smiling at Yona, looking at her with so much affection, not at me. He didn't even notice me.
I don't need to see anything else. I don't want to see anything else. I turn and leave.
My mind is full of regret, pain and anger towards myself: why doesn't Hak look at me? What does Yona have that I don't? Why didn't the relationship between us work out? Why do I keep thinking about him? Why don't you get out of my head, Hak?
A few "what if" scenarios ran through my thoughts, although I know there's no point in thinking about them: he's probably engaged to her by now; I, on the other hand, am engaged to (S/O).
I shouldn't cry, I shouldn't do this, nevertheless, as I lean against the wall of an inn, my chest aching like never before, I can't stop the tears from flowing.
~ 💙 ~
"My love? Are you okay?"
"(S/O)?" I lift my head from my crouched position, looking at (S/O). He's crouched in front of me, looking at me worriedly.
Without thinking twice, I throw myself into his arms and hold him, crying into his chest. He returns the hug, immediately holding me tightly and cradling me gently against him, saying sweet words.
"What happened?"
"I... met... Hak..." I tell him, my voice breaking with sobs.
"Oh, my love... Shhhhh, don't worry: everything will be fine. Can I do something to make you feel better?"
"Can you keep hugging me a little longer, please?"
"Of course." (S/O), why are you so kind to me? Why are you close to me, even though you know I love you, but I still love Hak?
I feel like a traitor. I love (S/O), but I still love Hak too, and I don't understand if I really love him or if he's just a replacement for me. I can't understand my feelings, and I don't want to make him suffer...
"Why are you close to me?" My sudden question shocks him.
"How 'why'? Are you thinking about the situation with your ex husband?" How did he figure it out?
I nod, so he holds me even more gently and says: "Don't worry, I already told you. I love you so much, and, if you're confused about your feelings, I'll help you as much as I can, okay?" I nod again, hugging him tighter and pushing my head further into his chest.
What things which were so good have I done to deserve such a kind person next to me?
I may be so selfish, but, even if I still don't have my feelings clear, I want to be with (S/O); I want to feel as good as when I'm with him; I want to feel that beautiful feeling I feel when we're together forever.
"Thank you, (S/O). Can I ask you something else?"
"Yes." I gently pull away from our embrace and look into his eyes.
"Can we be together forever?" He looks at me with wide eyes and a blush that quickly colors all his cheeks; then, his eyes soften and a sweet smile spreads across his face.
"Of course we can. Come -(S/O) stands up and he takes my hand and helps me get up- let's go home."
Thank you, Hak. You weren't the right one for me, but thanks to what happened between us I'm happy now.

Kikyou is a very complex character and difficult to understand. The way Sunrise portrayed her is just plain wrong. They hate her and Kikyou still struggles with hatred, even in the non-canon Yashahime manga. Her character was reduced to just an "ex" and in fact Kikyou was more than just an "ex". She's been dealing with the hate ever since. Anime Kikyou helps her hate. It's easy to hate a character who is so cold, doesn't care and seems to care about something else, just cold because that's how she was supposed to be. Principal Inuyasha didn't hate her, he said he "didn't understand her and should stay dead" He made her cold and emotionless, but that's how she was supposed to be. My criticism of Kikyou in the anime doesn't mean I don't love her. I love her with all my heart, but I don't like what was done to her and how she was presented. She has been changed the most and very drastically. Inuyasha always looks like he doesn't love her but always looks at her compassionately, and she acts like Inuyasha's love doesn't matter anymore. Her scenes with Inuyasha were erased and changed, her personality was changed. I don't care if anyone likes Kikyou in the manga and anime. I express what I feel. Just like Kagome fans keep complaining that 'Kagome was changed' but the changes Kagome had are nothing like what happened to Kikyou. Kikyou, at the end of the episode, was presented as a rival who takes the main character and hurts poor Kagome. This sunrise subconsciously made Kagome feel like the wronged one and she should be pitied, while Kikyou should be hated. Sunrise made it clear that Inuyasha and Kikyou's love is in the past and they no longer love each other, especially Kikyou since she doesn't love him. They make it clear that Kagome is the only right partner for him and InuKik is a thing of the past. Kikyou's true personality has been erased, InuKik's love has been erased. It's Kikyou who needs justice. It was the Kikyou anime that made me love Kikyou so much, the Kikyou manga only strengthened my feelings and my love for InuKik.
Sunrise always favored Kagome . In the manga they didn't kiss, but in the anime Inukag got a kiss. I believe this is the most solid evidence that Sunrise favors Kagome and this ship. Kagome's favoritism and hatred towards Kikyou is very evident in this series and it can really be appreciated by reading the original source - manga.
yashahime continues to hate her. this is just sad. Kikyou didn't deserve this fate.

ooh how about Yosano for the ask game?
Yay Yosano!!! I love her so much <33
Favorite thing about them: Her backstory,,, It's just a masterpiece, for me it's really the peak of bsd's writing. “We don't want your skill. We want that kindness of yours” and “You don't need a skill at all. There's real value in your sadness.” ueueueueueueue. In two chapters it made of a relatively flat character a complex and human one, and we love to see that.
Least favorite thing about them: Nothing, she's great??? I can't think of anything.
Favorite line: There's no line that hits me in particular I can think of, but I really like the emotion / delivery of some of them. This one I like tons:
Tumblr media
brOTP: Aaaaahhh I love her I want to see her interact with everyone. Older-sister kind of characters are ALWAYS my favourite. I love her dynamics with Ranpo and I like to think they have this sort of sibling complicity of two people who have known each other for a very long time and love each other deeply. I like her relationship with Fukuzawa, I like how explicitly protective he is of her, I'm glad she has someone she can trust who looks after her and makes her feel loved. (Actually, the Yosano / Fukuzawa relationship makes me emotional. Because Yosano was so deeply traumatized and broken and basically dead when he took her under his wing, and she looks so healthy and confident and serene in the canon timeline, it's basically a miracle; and the only way this could have happened is by having someone who deeply loved and cared for her, someone who kindly guided her through every step of rehabilitation. It moves me a little). I really enjoyed her interactions with Atsushi!! And I like to think Yosano and Kyouka would hang out, I feel like Yosano would be happy to sort of return the favour and help back a little girl who was able to slip out of the darkness just in time; I can see them have this kind of inter generational relationship where they go shopping together and chat about girl things.
OTP: I really like kousano!!! I feel like Yosano deserves her spicy pm love affair too ahah. I think it's got lots of potential for both fluff and angst, and I believe it's a cool relationship to explore for both characters!! I wish they'd meet in canon. When I first watched the anime I was low-key into ranposano, and though I don't feel very strongly about them anymore, I think it's a nice ship nonetheless!
nOTP: Nothing. Really I don't dislike ships pffttt.
Random headcanon: Something I don't think I ever brought up but that I firmly believe in is that whereas all the other ada members live at the ada dorms, Yosano, Ranpo and Fukuzawa have their own house where they live together. Fukuzawa took Ranpo to his home when he adopted him, and then Yosano joined them when they took her in because I mean, there was no way that they could leave her alone, right? So they've always lived together, and they are happy together, they never felt the need to change that. That's the real ada found family for me if there ever was one. Really like deconstructing the idea of nuclear family or of the fact that children can't live with their parents as adults while still being independent. Also it just makes sense? And it's heartwarming to think that Fukuzawa, the lone wolf with no friends of relations, now lives in a happy and lively household.
Unpopular opinion: Yosano existing isn't enough to beat the bsd being sexist allegations, I'm so sorry everyone I wish that was the case.
Song i associate with them: Kilmer by Niru Kajitsu, I just wish I didn't (个_个) There's even a beautiful fanart of Yosano in the style of the Kilmer pv here. Also Fräulein=Biblioteca by nyanyannya, just based on vibes alone (the purple butterflies!!), to mention something a little less depressing lol.
Favorite picture of them:
Favourite panel from the manga:

(Took me like. One hour to pick just one. She's always stunning in Harukawa's art style.)
Favourite illustration:

Favourite illustration in the anime art style:

Favourite Mayoi card:

If the ask game is still going, how about an au where Aizawa is actually a time traveling Eri who is trying to prevent the current chapters of the manga from happening?
Absolutely fascinated by the implications of this. "girls who become their fathers" to a new level.
1- Eri lives in a small cabin in the woods with her adopted father. Sometimes, she gets visitors. Mizushima makes sure they have clean water delivered. Tenya sometimes brings people to her to heal. Yamada brings news around to the encampments of survivors. But most days it's quiet. Eri has clothes, but as she gets older she finds she really doesn't like the sweet dresses picked by the nurses. They make her feel like a doll. The bright fun clothes her father got her, for a show that doesn't play anymore, is alright. Comfy. But so are the plain dark hand me downs. The boys clothes. Shouta cuts her hair over the sink.
2- Most days are quiet, calm. Shouta braids their hair, reads them books, tries to cook. But some days, the quiet is not calm. It is plans, whispered back and forth. Shouta them more than the others, the child knows. Rational deception. It would make Deku sad. But Deku isn't here anymore, he's sleeping and won't wake up, like their grandfather won't. But there a plan.
3- And then it's time for the plan. He's thirteen. He leaves the cabin with Shouta for the last time. They go to the place with the machine, and the child gets a shot. Momo says that he'll be able to handle a second quirk, abilities carefully copied from samples from Shouta, Deku, and Monoma. The child's eyes begin to burn. Shouta presses a bottle of eye drops into his hand and a brief kiss to his forehead, on the other side of the tall curving horn. The child will wear it down to a nub as he powers the machine far enough, and crashes to the floor of Nedzu's office over two decades earlier.
4- The boy gives Nedzu some answers, and lets him puzzle out the others. Nedzu, in return, gives him documents. Officially, he's now Aizawa Shouta. He leaves, and will return later as a UA student determined to focus on preventing a full scale collapse of society as they know it. The messy hair hides the nub of his horn when it's down, and the movement of floating up around it usually covers it then too, but he's careful to use Rewind enough to keep it low and avoid detection. It's absolutely necessary to keep AfO from discovering his quirk in this time- he knows that is part of why his father cut off his own leg and let it go, because the other way to negate the effect of the bullet would have revealed the second quirk hiding behind Erasure, which is desired enough. The cats around his apartment are very healthy, and he secretly thinks it very amusing to watch the younger versions of the teachers he knows. But Shirakumo is different, totally new. He reminds him of Deku and Lemillion both, and he's suddenly dragged into friendship not just with Shirakumo, but the others too.
5- Back in the left-behind-future, Yamada mutters that the kid looked just like...
"Cuz he is." The 38-year-old Aizawa admits. "But it's not a stable loop. Every time, things go better. We'll get it right, eventually."
Yamada closes his eyes.
"You never tell me?"
"I don't know, only that I didn't. He might."
Yaoyorozu looks over from where she's memorizing the formulas before they destroy the lab.
"What is it?" She asks.
"Nothing. Is it safe to move Midoriya yet?"
"Yes. Iida's in charge of that. I... We'll wake him up, soon."
Aizawa hums, and looks over to Yamada. He hopes they can wake him up, one day. And he hopes one day, the child will tell his friends the truth.
