Both you and Lewis are private people when it came to your relationship. It has always been that way, with him leading a lifestyle in front of the cameras, and you preferring to stay away from those said cameras as much as you can. Over time, you both developed a rhythm, a delicate balance between Lewis's public persona and your desire for privacy. It was an unspoken agreement, an understanding that you valued above all else.. You knew how much Lewis's racing career meant to him, and you admired his ability to excel under the constant scrutiny. And in return, Lewis respected your wish for a quieter, more intimate life together. It was this mutual respect that solidified the foundation of your relationship, allowing it to thrive despite the challenges that fame and attention often brought.

That is not to say that you guys were completely private, of course. You’ve had your fair share of events the two of you attended as a couple, as well as races, but Lewis is always mindful of the fact that you don’t want cameras in your faces. In the early days of your relationship, the media had tried to capture glimpses of your relationship, eager to uncover every detail and learn more about the woman who finally made him give up his bachelor status. However, Lewis, being the fiercely protective partner that he was, had firmly set boundaries to shield your personal life from the prying eyes of the world. He cherished the sanctity of your bond and understood the importance of keeping certain moments sacred and away from the public eye.

The two of you have a special routine for the race days where you decide to join him on the track – you mainly spend your time inside the Mercedes garage, instead of lingering around where the cameras are most likely to be. However, you make sure to leave the garage for celebrations for those races where Lewis is up on the podium, celebrating him with the people who support him every step along the way whom he appreciates immensely; while the podium celebrations were reserved for the public eye, the garage held its own intimate victories. It was here that you celebrated the milestones and shared the unspoken triumphs, basking in the knowledge that your presence was an unwavering pillar of support for Lewis. But for the most part, you’re happy with your routine – it’s safe, familiar and it has worked for a very long time. So you don’t really know why you decided to take Roscoe on an impromptu tour of the paddock, especially when he gives you that look which clearly says that he would rather be taking his afternoon nap.

It's a good day despite the chaos everyone on the paddock seems to be in, but then again, there’s only a few hours until the qualifying session. So, in hopes of avoiding the human traffic, you decide to take Roscoe to a more secluded area in the back. As you walk, Roscoe happily wagging his tail by your side, you take in the sights and sounds of the paddock. The familiar smell of rubber and gasoline fills the air, mingling with the excited murmurs of fans and the distant roar of engines. It's a world you've come to know and appreciate, even if from a slightly different perspective. Lost in your thoughts, you suddenly hear voices growing louder as you approach a group of people gathered in conversation. Curiosity gets the better of you, and you slow your pace, intending to discreetly eavesdrop before continuing on your way. But as you get closer, you realize the topic of their conversation hits closer to home than you expected.

In hindsight, you know better to get involved in situations which might cause you to bother yourself with rude, petty people, but when it concerns your husband and everything that he has worked hard his entire life for, you don’t even hesitate. With the fierce protectiveness you feel inside, you clear your throat to get the attention of the engineers, “Excuse me,” you say as you give them a (fake) smile, “could you repeat that again, please?”

The group falls silent, their faces registering surprise and perhaps a touch of embarrassment. They exchange glances, seemingly unsure of how to respond to your unexpected intrusion. “We just meant that–” The man is quickly silenced by one of his friends elbowing him in the side.

You ignore the silent ow that comes from the man’s mouth and give the trio a stare down. “Well, I guess everybody is entitled to their opinions.” Your sweet smile and dulcet tone is enough to think them that everything is fine, but you’re quick to continue voicing your thoughts, “But that doesn’t give you the right to undermine a man’s hard work, especially when he has broken record after record and don’t even get me started on the fact that not only he is a pioneer in this sport, he is also a role model and inspiration to many and has impact beyond the track.” You let a frustrated hum, “Also, have some respect, the guy is an eight-time world champion.”

The guy who spoke before looks confused as he attempts to point out, “He won it seven–”

“Do you want me to let Roscoe attack you?” You ask as you point to the puppy sitting next to you, who, in hearing his name, looks up at you; all panting and happily sticking his tongue out.

Little do you know, Lewis had been watching the entire scene unfold from a distance, a mix of admiration and adoration in his eyes. He waits until the engineers leave in a hurry, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed on his chest. A smile tugs at the corners of Lewis's lips as he watches you handle the situation with such grace and confidence. As you turn around, ready to head back to the safety of the Mercedes garage, your eyes meet his, and a surge of warmth fills your heart. Walking towards you, Lewis closes the distance between you, his steps purposeful and full of pride. His arms quickly find their place on your waist as he mumbles, “Damn, that’s my wife.”

You roll your eyes at his antics, your face quickly mirroring the smile he gives to you. “Didn’t you see the sign? Apparently, ‘hot girls support 44’.”

“Is that so?” He hums, letting his hands wonder towards the back pockets of your jeans as he continuously presses kisses along your jaw, “It’s definitely right.”

As Lewis's lips trail along your jawline, sending shivers down your spine, you playfully swat at his chest. "Behave, Mr. World Champion. We're in a public place," you whisper, trying to suppress the laughter bubbling up inside you.

Lewis chuckles softly, his eyes sparkling with love and mischief. "Can't help it, love. Seeing you stand up for me like that, it's a turn-on," he teases, his voice laced with admiration. "But you're right, let's save the public displays of affection for later."

With a shared understanding and a silent promise, you and Lewis turn, making your way back to the familiar comfort of the Mercedes garage. In each other's presence, you find solace and strength, ready to face whatever lies ahead. And as Roscoe happily trots beside you, you can't help but feel grateful for the extraordinary life you share with the man who has captured your heart, both on and off the track.

Why These Imperfect Korean ‘Moon Jars’ Sell for Millions

Old, round, imperfect and beautiful — that’s how fans of Korean art describe the moon jar, or “dalhangari.”

These unassuming, plain white pots have entranced everyone from rapper RM, of K-pop sensation BTS, to philosopher Alain de Botton.

The former director of London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, Beth McKillop, has called the moon jar an “icon of Korean identity.” And if price is any indicator of popularity, one recently sold for over $4.5 million at a Christie’s auction.

This month, a rare example from the late 17th or early 18th century will go on sale at Sotheby’s in New York, where it’s expected to fetch more than $3 million.

“A large moon jar has always been expensive, but I think the big uptick in prices and value is… because their appeal is now global,” said Angela McAteer, Sotheby’s international head of Chinese art for the Americas and Europe, over video call. “You’ve got an international cohort of bidders competing for them, so it’s gone beyond the traditional connoisseur collecting community of Korean art.”

Huge price tags also result from the jars’ rarity. Although made for over a century in the royal kilns of Korea’s last kingdom, the Joseon dynasty, few are thought to exist today. Estimates for the number of larger ones (those more than 40 centimeters, or 15.7 inches, tall and wide) that have survived over the years range from 12 to 30.

Having passed through auction houses and antique dealers across the world, several of these are now in the collections of institutions like the British Museum and Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, as well as in the hands of private collectors.

‘Owning a piece of happiness’

The first moon jars were created in the royal kilns in Gwangju (a city just outside Seoul, not the larger southern city of the same name) from 1650 to 1750. They were made from pure white porcelain and kaolin clay, and, following the neo-Confucian fashions of their day, the pots reflected values such as propriety, humility, frugality and purity. They were likely used at court and in upper-class homes as containers for food and liquids, or as decorative vessels.

In the mid-20th century, moon jars began gaining international appreciation thanks to influential admirers such as Japanese folk crafts scholar Yanagi Soetsu and British potter Bernard Leach, who bought one from a Seoul antique store in 1935. Leach once said that having a moon jar was like “owning a piece of happiness,” and would later give his to fellow potter Lucie Rie for safekeeping during World War II. It stayed in her studio until her death and was later acquired by the British Museum.

Charlotte Horlyck, lecturer in Korean Art History at the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, wrote in the Art Bulletin journal that after World War II the moon jar “caught the attention of an early generation of postcolonial Korean artists and scholars who sought to restore Korean art history and national identity,” as the pieces “resonated with the visual language of international modernism and minimalism of the mid-20th century while remaining a distinctly Korean work of art.”

The moon jar’s allure

When Sotheby’s announced its forthcoming sale, the auction house described its 44-centimeter (17.3-inch) moon jar as an object that inspired, astounded and soothed those who “stand in its presence.” It’s a funny thing to say about a pot, to speak as if it’s alive, but the jars’ visceral, emotional impact on people is something that comes up time and time again in the literature.

Choi Sunu, a former director of the National Museum of Korea, has described the museum’s moon jars as being like companions, or muses that have inspired his writing and stirred his creativity. Bernard Leach admired the pots for their “natural unselfconsciousness.” In 2012, South Korea’s then-Unification Minister Yu Woo-ik used the pot as a metaphor symbolizing a reunified Korean peninsula (moon jars are created in two hemispherical pieces and joined in the middle).

More recently the rapper RM, of K-pop group BTS, posted a picture of himself hugging a modern-day moon jar on Twitter, telling fans that the pots made him feel calm.

“It’s hard for someone to really comprehend how a pot can make you feel that way,” said McAteer. “It has this real meditative presence. If you’ve sat in front of a great (painting by US artist, Mark) Rothko and you feel this kind of palpable energy emanate from it, and you could sit for hours and just feel something in its presence — the moon jar has that too.”

“The more you look at it, the more there is to see. It looks different from every angle,” she added. “We had real issues with the photography and the catalog because it looks like a different piece every time you rotate it, or you change the lighting. The surface is just alive, you know.”

“You can see how the glaze coalesces; you see these spontaneous bursts of this blush color that’s happening in the firing. You can lose yourself in its surface.”

Modern masters

Modern Korean potters have been inspired by the jars, and a number have come up with their own homages. Ceramist Kim Syyong covers his pots with a black glaze, while Yun Ju Cheol’s versions look spikier like a pufferfish and Choi Bo Ram’s unvarnished, textured blue vases have a denim-like quality.

Others, like Kwon Dae Sup, have looked to closely recreate the process used by the potters of yore. The 71-year-old ceramist produces unadorned white jars and allows for all the beautiful imperfections produced to shine through. He works out of a studio in Gwangju, where the royal kilns that produced moon jars were once located.

There’s a great deal of preparation that goes into making a moon jar traditionally. It’s labor-intensive: washing, sifting impurities from the clay, kneading and rolling it to remove air bubbles, carrying around these large hunks, not to mention hand throwing the clay itself to that oversized bowl shape without collapsing, and the work keeping a pine wood fire burning for 24 hours while the pot hardens in the kiln. Kwon also built his own kiln to replicate the old process as closely as possible.

“I do this because it’s fun,” he said in a phone interview. “Every time I make something, it’s novel … The quality of the material is different every time. The conditions in which I make the pots is new every time.”

Kwon said he also feels an emotional connection to the moon jar. As a student he was so moved by a one he saw in a Korean antique store that he decided they would be his life’s work. “They feel alive,” he said.

In a 2019 book on his work by Axel Vervoodt Gallery the potter is quoted saying he tries to produce art that needs no addition or subtraction. “I wish to create work that has an imposing presence but harmonizes with its surroundings regardless of where and when it is displayed. It should give peace of mind and a sense of comfort to all who look at it.”

With a tired sigh, Loki removed the horny helmet from his head as soon as he entered the backstage building, the door shutting behind Thor who followed after him.

“Man, I can't wait to take this thing off,” Thor said, taking off his helmet too.

“Yeah, same. It's too hot today,” Loki agreed, tugging at the neckline of his costume. “At least your costume doesn't have sleeves.”

“Yay for small miracles, I guess.” Coming to walk beside him, Thor smiled at him, bumping their shoulders together, making Loki smile, too, despite his discomfort.

They had met when they had both auditioned for the roles of, ironically enough, <i>Thor</i> and <i>Loki</i> from the blockbuster Disney movies. Loki Fergusson, who was still a university student back then, needed an easy part time job and Thor Bjornson, who was backpacking through the USA, needed some easy cash so he could continue with his traveling. Now, five years later, they were both still working at Disney World, taking on longer and longer shifts while looking for better jobs in their field (Loki) or saving up to return home (Thor).

They hadn't clicked right away—Thor was too energetic, too extroverted, while Loki was the exact opposite, preferring the few hours of peace and quiet he got over going out and partying his salary away. But having to play the brothers in the amusement park and, later, moving in together to share the costs—they already spent more than half the day together at that point, why not share an apartment closer to their place of work too?—had led to them becoming very close friends, despite their differences.

Entering their air-conditioned dressing room, finally, Loki sighed in relief for the coolness of the room and placed the helmet on its shelf, clicking his tongue at Thor chucking his carelessly on the sofa.

“Can you get the zipper for me? I need to get this off ASAP or I may perish.”

“Yeah, sure.”

He felt Thor's warmth when he stepped close behind him, goosebumps spreading on his skin as Thor’s fingers brushed his hair away and caressed the back of his neck on their way to the zipper. Surely on accident.

“Re-enacting Titanic today was pretty fun,” Thor said, the zipper making a soft hissing sound as it was pulled down Loki's back.

“I swear to God, these fans will have us kissing before long,” Loki answered with a soft laugh.

Thor hummed, fingers hovering, still holding the zipper.

“Maybe we should,” he said after a moment, finally parting the zipper and pushing the fake leather jacket from Loki's shoulders, his hands almost too warm on Loki's body through the protective t-shirt he was wearing beneath the costume.

When Loki spoke his voice came out breathless. “Do what?”

Thor stepped closer, pushing the jacket down his arms, tucking his face on the side of Loki's head.

“Kiss,” he whispered, lips brushing against the shell of Loki's ear.

Heart beating hard inside his ribcage, Loki felt the jacket falling over his hands, cuffing them in the fabric.

“W-what?”

Thor came around him, standing in front of him now, not meeting his wide, hopeful eyes as he took first one and then his other hand to release them from the sleeves.

“Just sayin’, the fans want it, the creators insinuate it, why shouldn't we give them what they want?” he said, flippantly almost.

“Oh,” Loki said dejectedly, feeling as if the air had left him entirely, his lungs squeezing inside him suffocatingly. “I thought–I–yeah, I don't know–the managers–” Loki stammered.

Loki <i>never</i> stammered. But it was hard not to when there was no breath inside him and his heart was hurting so painfully.

“Fuck the managers. We aren't going to work at this place all our lives, Loki. Let's have some fun before we move on to better things.”

<i>Better things</i>. Loki felt his eyes sting.

Too-warm hands cupped both sides of Loki's neck, making him refocus his zoned out sight to Thor's face as he ducked slightly to stare directly at him.

A small, hopeful, idiotic smile was curling his lips.

“Don't make that face. What I want to say is that I really want to kiss you stupid, idiot.”

Blood shot to Loki's head, making him feel lightheaded suddenly, his cheeks burning. He slapped Thor on his bare bicep, looking at him angrily.

The whole bookmarks conversation reminds me of the authors of massive crossover fic With Pearl And Ruby Glowing, who have been known to lash out at anyone and everyone who criticize them, even if you did it in a private server where it was never intended to get back to them, even if you only mildly disliked one chapter, even if you were a massive fan but wished they'd used intersexism instead of going "what's the word for this? interphobia?" and then deleting all comments stating "it's intersexism". Mention them on a locked Dreamwidth entry that duckduckgo search results will show them part of? They're going to contact you and they're going to be furious.

Sometimes, not everyone is going to love your work. You cannot try to ban them from expressing that opinion in private to others. Yes, even if you're "famous" author who has a whole TV Tropes page for your work. You are within your rights to not want to be insulted to your face outright in vitriolic ways unrelated to your work, such as people who slam them for being queer writers. But not wanting that being a relatable, reasonable thing to feel does not mean that everyone has to say your work is good even in private, that people who comment on the fact that there's been more blonde black people than Arab people in your work even though you say you care about representation are haters who shouldn't be allowed to speak, or that if you ask what a word is and get told what the word is then that's hate that needs to be deleted and just for that we're going to screen all comments you meanies.

I've gotten some really nasty intersexist, antisemitic and outright violent comments on my work in the past. I delete the garbage and report the comments that threaten physical violence against me. The result is that people who like my work feel like they can approach me and say hi and chat in my comments or to others. Meanwhile, despite having a ton of hits, almost no one comments on With Pearl and Ruby Glowing and hardly any discussion of it off of AO3 because no one is in the mood to be yelled at for answering a question the author asked or for saying you didn't think a particular chapter was as well done as the others. When even "I loved the first 150 chapters except for number 44, I didn't get that completely" can be met with backlash, the readers start going, "I'll just not say anything and hopefully they won't get mad at me", a fandom dynamic that has resulted in less and less hits and less and less engagement as the story has gone along.

The best thing to do about angry bookmarks is to ignore it. People hate being treated as if they don't matter, thus it is your best possible revenge, because long after you've forgotten their annoying bookmark, you live rent-free in their head. Snapping back at even the lightest of criticism does not make for a fun experience for the reader. It makes me glad I didn't recommend the fic to anyone or comment and it likely to make me stop reading.

One of my fandoms is stubbornly refusing to move to AO3 and is still posting on FFN, for reasons I don't know and cannot explain. The result is that hate comments are still common. The standard response is to just ignore it. I feel much better about talking to those authors because I don't have to walk on eggshells around them in order to make sure I don't make them mad at me. As a result, I am much more likely to recommend their fic to others, because I don't have to worry I'm putting someone in the line of fire by doing so.

TL;DR can we all please learn some sense of proportion and that negative comments aren't worth burning the world to the ground over? Because in the process of burning things to the ground, you burn a good chunk of your audience in the process.

The radio show that the guy allegedly assaulted by Elordi posted an interview with the guy. He was harassing Jacob asking him to fill a Tupperware container with his semen-containing bathwater. He said that the people around Jacob were the ones that "assaulted" him by erasing the video. Sorry to the ones that want to believe that Elordi is the most violent man ever but it seems he was not the perpetrator of the assault and he was actually sexually harassed in the incident

I think that we got two different impressions of what happened based on the account by Josh. Obviously, we're only getting ONE side of the story, but umm... Idk girl... It's still not a good look. 👀 

Idk... Maybe you can listen to the interview again and see what you think, but I got the impression that this Josh guy was filling in for a guy who also works at the radio show who was supposed to go up to Jacob and do a joke regarding bath water and asking him if he would put his bath water in a Tupperware for Jackie O (who's also on the show and a huge fan of him). JE was initially friendly to the guy until he brought up the bath water thing, and then kindly asked the guy to stop filming.

It seems like according to Josh, after he stopped filming, something in JE snapped and he got in his face, backed him into a wall, PUSHED him, and grabbed him by the throat. 🥴

Sounds like he and his friends also cornered and surrounded the radio personality as well.

I mean, I think the joke didn't land well, and the guy Josh seemed like he was nice and was not going to use the footage, but he felt afraid and intimidated.... I mean, JE is a HUGE guy standing at 6'5 at least... So I don't blame him.

I'm not saying what that radio guy did was RIGHT (it wasn't, and can be seen as sexual harassment tbh), but at the same time, JE getting in that guy's face after he stopped recording as he asked, and pushing him into a wall and grabbing him by the throat is definitely a BAD look. 🥴

The way the guy is describing it, it doesn't sound like he was heckling him or trying to get a rise out of JE. He said that he was a fan of his actually. They were trying to get something for their show. The guy Josh even mentioned that JE has had talk show hosts joking with him about the bathwater scene in "Saltburn" without any problem, so I guess he felt that JE was okay with it?

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour opening weekend: Tears, joy and ‘therapy’

Fans descend on Glendale, Ariz. (a.k.a. ‘Swift City’) for a long-awaited chance to commune with their pop icon, revel in her lyrics and express their true selves

GLENDALE, ARIZ. — Taylor Swift had endless choices when deciding how to kick off her first concert tour in nearly five years on Friday night, a captivating spectacle that stretched over three hours and included 44 songs. After starting with a brief snippet of “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince,” the namesake song to her 2020 Netflix documentary, she launched directly into “Cruel Summer.”

As the track’s hazy opening synth-pop beats blasted through State Farm Stadium, you could hear the gasps, with simultaneous shouts of “OH MY GOD!” barely heard above the ecstatic mayhem (and in some cases, heaving sobs) among the nearly 70,000 in attendance. Swift, resplendent in a shimmering bejeweled silver bodysuit and matching knee-high boots, beamed at the crowd, because she knew exactly what she was doing.

Swift fans believe that, in a parallel universe, “Cruel Summer” (the yearning anthem on her 2019 album, “Lover,” about a steamy and toxic relationship, with a chorus that demands you sing-scream along) was destined to be the song of the summer of 2020, released as a single as Swift planned to embark on a series of festivals called Lover Fest. Obviously, the global bummer of 2020 happened instead. Yet the obsession with “Cruel Summer” persisted, especially because Swift had never performed it live.

So this wasn’t just a song. For many, this was a stinging, subconscious reminder of how much we lost and what could have been. It was also a moment of pure, delirious joy — not only because of the thrill of hearing a beloved song live for the first time, but also because it’s clear that even one of the most powerful celebrities on the planet had felt all of that, too. It doesn’t seem like a coincidence that at the top of her first show on her Eras Tour — 52 dates of sold-out stadiums — she wanted to pick up right where she’d left off before the world shut down.

“I don’t know how to process all of this and the way that it’s making me feel right now,” Swift told the stadium when the song was over, her voice slightly shaking. Later, she added: “I’m really, really, really overwhelmed, and I’m trying to keep it together all night.”

She has no chill. After rising to fame with songs about her awkward, unpopular teen years, she now embraces cringe and earnestness. That’s part of the draw for her legion of fans, who see her as one of them. After Ticketmaster melted down during sales for the Eras Tour, the parent company’s chairman went on the defensive by pointing to the extreme demand, claiming that the number of people trying to buy tickets “could have filled 900 stadiums.”

The Swifties shelled out hundreds — sometimes thousands — of dollars for tickets and travel and descended on Glendale this weekend, determined to make the often harrowing process of ticket-buying a distant memory. The Phoenix suburb, which recently hosted the Super Bowl, could hardly contain its excitement. The mayor declared it would temporarily change its name to “Swift City,” and electronic signs on the highway encouraged safe driving with Swift puns: “CUT OFF? DON’T GET BAD BLOOD. SHAKE IT OFF.” “RECKLESS DRIVING? YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN.”

But that was nothing compared to the electric energy surrounding the stadium. To be a Taylor Swift fan is to learn to master the clues and secret messages that could be embedded in every lyric, public comment and social media post, no matter how opaque. To be a Taylor Swift fan is to always come ready, which includes devising the perfect outfit to wear to a concert, with unlimited options bestowed by the singer herself, who chose a tour theme, “eras,” that celebrates her past and present.

Being in the crowd was like being in a force field where all pretenses are gone; Swift’s music covers the spectrum of bubble-gum pop (which she refers to as “glitter gel pen lyrics”) to deep introspective poetry, and her concerts are a place where you can dance or cry to either. Swift has laid bare her own insecurities and emotions over 10 studio albums and more than 200 songs. Here, in her presence and among one another, fans become their truest selves.

Scanning the crowd, you could see countless sequins and bejeweled skirts and jackets, an homage to the “1989” era. There were also dark blue dresses with stars for “Midnights”; red heart sunglasses, a black bowler hat and a T-shirt reading, “Not a lot going on at the moment,” a shout-out to the “22” music video; dark lipstick and black leotards as a tribute to “Reputation”; lyrics scribbled down people’s arms in marker, something Swift used to do before every concert; and No. 13 painted on hands, another former Swift tradition, from when she was starting out as a country star.

“My inspiration is the Red Tour, one of Taylor’s iconic outfits, and I just wanted to re-create it,” said Giacomo Benavides, a 26-year-old content creator dressed like a circus ringleader who traveled from Peru for the show.

Some were even more specific: Olivia Jackter of Tucson, 26, wore a traffic-light get-up that displayed the phrase “I don’t know,” referring to a lyric from the song “Death By a Thousand Cuts.” Would non-Swifties understand it? Of course not. Did that matter? Of course not. “This was going to be my costume for Lover Fest. I’ve been waiting for this for years,” Jackter said.

A group of 20-something women attached plastic Easter eggs to white T-shirts with photos of some of their favorite “Easter eggs” and hints that Swift has dropped over the years. One man dressed in a cat costume as Swift’s newest pet, Benjamin. Two women whooped excitedly when they walked by each other in a line for food and saw that they wore matching floral dresses similar to what Swift wore to the 2021 Grammy Awards.

Another popular theme was “All Too Well,” the searing breakup ballad that recently got a second life when Swift released the updated 10-minute version. Lots of fans wore outfits displaying those lyrics. Ivan Hernandez of Phoenix sported a blue T-shirt that read, “Where’s the scarf, Jake?” — a reference to the song’s supposed subject, Swift’s ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal, and the lyric that suggests that he swiped her scarf.

“[My son] wanted to go to the concert, and he said, ‘Let’s wear outfits,’ and I was like, ‘Well, I’m not going to wear an outlandish outfit,’” said Hernandez, 46, whose 13-year-old son, Eli, was wearing an Eras Tour shirt they had bought at the merchandise stand Saturday afternoon before Swift’s second show. “So I just went online and started looking for something about ‘All Too Well,’ and this is the one that came up.”

Swift, who misses nothing, praised everyone for their effort from the stage.

“You have really outdone yourselves, guys. The way that you decided to show up to this concert, you really, really decided to show up,” she said, noting that she saw people dressed as mirror balls (from the song “Mirrorball”); willow trees (from “Willow”); and “sexy babies” (from “Anti-Hero” — and too complicated to explain). “I have seen, like, really amazing, specific visual representations of lyrics or weird online inside jokes that we have.”

“I was thinking about tonight and how special this is,” she added. “You have led me to believe, by you being here, that it’s special for you, too, so it’s really nice that it’s mutual.”

Swift’s unusually close relationship with her fans started back when she was a country artist, a genre in which singers are supposed to think of listeners as their peers. Swift always went a step beyond, chatting with fans on Myspace back before Nashville executives even knew what that was, and that connection has continued to this day.

In concert, Swift referred to the journey that she and her fans have taken together, like they’re a family. (The “four new members of the family,” she said, are the four albums she has released since her last tour.) She made no secret of the fact that she monitors fans’ social media activity, even dryly noting that her 2020 record “Evermore,” is “an album I absolutely love, despite what some of you say on TikTok.” (People on the platform are convinced that “Evermore” is her “forgotten child.”)

This is all why her bond with her fandom remains so strong. She connected early on to fellow teenage girls who inferred from society that their crushes and feelings and dreams were silly, only to find someone in Swift who took them seriously and who could articulate, in songwriting, what they didn’t even know they were feeling.

“By the time she’s done living through something and writing about it and releasing music, I’m living through it,” said Briana McReynolds, 32, of Phoenix, who showed up in a T-shirt covered in lyrics, as well as a purple streak in her hair to represent “Lavender Haze,” Swift’s latest single. Her best friend, Chris, accompanied her to the concert as an “emotional support Swiftie.” (“I’m doing my best,” he said.)

She’s just accidentally kind of written the soundtrack for my life,” McReynolds said. “She’s matured with all of us, or we’ve matured with her. So no matter what age I am, she can totally sing my heart.”

Caitlin O’Connor, 32, of San Diego came to the show with her mom; they have seen every Swift tour together for the last 15 years, and O’Connor makes sure to go multiple times.

“You don’t need therapy; you need Taylor Swift songs,” O’Connor said. Swift’s concerts, she explained, “are my happy place, and there’s nothing else like it. It’s the most natural high you could get in your whole life.” On her arm, she has a tattoo of lyrics from Swift’s “Treacherous”: “All we are is skin and bone, trained to get along.”

“I love that line. Really, at the core, everybody is human,” she said. “And that’s also the thing with Taylor Swift concerts: Everybody is really nice. … You bond over something immediately.”

Swift is highly aware of the world she’s built, and she doesn’t shy away from it. In a surprisingly direct admission, while introducing the song “Mirrorball,” from her 2020 album “Folklore” during an acoustic set, she reiterated to the crowd just how intensely she’s missed them over the past several years.

“I was thinking about how one of the songs that I wrote with you in mind during the pandemic was one of the first songs I wrote on ‘Folklore,’ and it was me writing about how badly I craved the connection that I feel from the care that you have directed my way,” she said. “I was trying to think of a sort of eloquent way to say that I love you and I need your attention all the time.”

The stadium quieted as she strummed and sang.

“I’ve never been a natural, all I do is try, try, try; I’m still on that trapeze, I’m still trying everything to keep you looking at me. ’Cause I’m a mirror ball. … I’ll show you every version of yourself tonight.”

And although she asked the members of the crowd for their attention, she didn’t need to; it was already there, and it always will be.

Hello! Yes, sadly The Marriage Stone is famously unfinished nearly 16 years after its original posting, and 9ish years after its last update. There are more chapters on ffnet. 77 actual chapters, and 1 author's note from 2016.

The original author, Josephine Darcy, encountered many issues IRL that led to a hiatus, and in that hiatus, others picked up The Marriage Stone to finish themselves. You can find several "continuations" of the fic by different authors on ffnet; I believe I've also happened upon them on AO3, though never sought them out there.

Josephine Darcy was a bit (understandably) dismayed to see so many continuations of the work she loved and had been unable to complete herself. As of now, it is uncertain whether she will ever actually finish it. It's been over 6 years since her author's note. But I am not one to give up hope!

I'd given a few of the continuations a try back in the day, but never quite had the heart to continue on without Josephine Darcy (though I'll admit to skipping to the last chapter of one that was completed!)

Due to the author's mixed feelings about the continuations (she seems to understand why, and harbors no ill-will towards the creators, though she was obviously negatively impacted by them), I cannot myself go read them. But, if you would like the choice for yourself, I will supply you with what links I can.

Features 44 proper chapters plus an author's note from around the time Josephine Darcy came back. They also picked up the numbering from The Marriage Stone and is currently at 122 combined chapters. Word count for this continuation is just under 300k words. Both together would be under 700k words.

The Yengirl continuation also looks to be on AO3 but with much less available there, so if you were to read it, I'd recommend doing so on ffnet.

It is such a great story and very beloved, at that! I've not often seen fanfics create such a ruckus that fans took such a huge project onto themselves to see it through. (Not that it hasn't happened, just not that I've seen, of course.) It's an old story, but one full of adventure and intrigue and fabulous world building. It is also the reason I fell in love with the Draco/Charlie ship! It is also one of two stories that gave me an aversion to beginning WIPs 😂 This and starcrossed's Nights of Gethsemane series, with its unfinished sequel Release of Sisyphus.

I would tentatively say it's still worth reading, even in its incomplete state, but that might be nostalgia talking. Maybe I think it's worth knowing that part of Snarry history. Maybe it is just that good. I'm a nostalgic lady myself, so I make no promises! But there is at least an existing, complete version if you would like to give it a try.

And wherever Josephine Darcy is, and whatever she is doing, I hope we can all take a moment to wish her well, and hope that these past few years have been much kinder to her. And I do hope that, one day, she will be able to finish this story she put so much time, effort, and love into. But even if she doesn't, I hope she knows how meaningful and impactful this story has been to so many people. 💛

The WOT Nielsen numbers are worrying me a lot, they're 44% of what they were last season for the first 3 episodes not only did they not get better but they got so much worse and idk if we might even get a s4 let alone the entire 8 seasons they have planned. I love the show but it's not popular at all, the big shows for example on Twitter get dozens if not hundreds of tweets with 10k likes or more, wot barely even has a few that surpass 1k. TSITP which costs a fraction of WOT and is half its length got similar numbers. Bezos is a huge fan of the expanse and they still cancelled it with 3 books left and a cut final season with 6 instead of 10 eps

To be honest, I haven't really kept up with the ratings. But if that's the case, I'm not surprised. I got two people to try to watch the show, and one person is still watching it and enjoys it, but the other couldn't get past ep 3 of last season. The fact that this is a large world with a lot of lore and it's only getting 8 episodes makes it difficult to do. The last few episodes I thought were very good, because they let the story build the world instead of trying to do world building by spending a whole episode explaining a concept.

Other problems are the media saying it's a "new game of thrones" and people who don't want any changes from the books. The former being ridiculous. There's no reason why every fantasy show has to be compared to GoT, especially when that series isn't done by the author and the show ended so abysmally. The latter, I can understand. The story is so important to people that they're protective of it and they want it done justice.

I've liked seeing the characters I love so much on screen. I like going in my character tags on here and seeing faces to them. Josha has been killing it as Rand. You can tell he cares for the character and how he portrays him. And my best friend, Maddeline, is getting all the awards for her work this season (I do, in fact, make those rules lol). So, if the show does get pulled, I'm just here for the ride until that happens.

I hope they ride the momentum from the last three episodes. These were the best of the series, in my opinion. And if they continue in the direction they're going, I think they'll get to keep going. I hope we get all 8 seasons they planned, though. It feels like Wheel of Time to me, and that's all I could ask for

Did He or Didn't He? - David Tennant and 'One-Eyed Jacques'

Today my David Tennant exploration thread goes a new direction - instead of his theatre or audio work, today I've chosen to feature one of his oddest performances on film. It's an odd duck, because you can barely see him in it (and only if you REALLY LOOK) because he isn't credited!

This eccentric short film is called "One Eyed Jacques." It's mentioned a number of places on the Net and has been attributed to David, but his name's never mentioned in the credits.

So did he do it? I think so, yes. We'll get to that. But let's first take a look at the film in a lot more detail.

"One-Eyed Jacques" was written by Jonathan Romney, and directed by Romney and Richard Clark, the director of the Doctor Who episodes 'The Lazarus Experiment' and 'Gridlock.' It was produced by Lisa-Marie Russo of Jump Monk Films. Made in 2001, it was one of seven short films which aired on 26 Sep 2002, as a part of Channel 4’s six-part series called “Shooting Gallery.” Hosted by Mark Kermode, the show focused on works of talented new UK filmmakers. 'One-Eyed Jacques' was featured in the episode “World Stories” alongside six other short films: 'Bullet in the Brain', 'Copyshop', 'Bus 44', 'Pourquoi...Pass Keu?', 'Palindrome', & 'Shifting Units'. 'One-Eyed Jacques' was also screened at two film festivals in 2001: the Uppsala International Short Film Festival in Sweden on 24 Oct 2001, and at the Brief Encounters Short Film Festival in Bristol on 14 Nov 2001. It was also screened in 2002 at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). As far as I know, it has never been screened or shown anywhere else. The short is about Veronique and Jacques, a couple seated in a fancy restaurant enjoying dinner. When Jacques gets food splashed in his eye, we see his eye is made of glass. When he removes it to clean it, it rolls onto the floor! As it rolls around, we see the world from its perspective. That's...odd, right? It really is. The short used to be on You Tube, but it's been gone for years. I grabbed it when it was still available, so I'm happy to say I've got a copy! He IS credited, just not in the film!

In an industry publication by Thomas Riggs called Contemporary Theatre, Film & Television, 'One-Eyed Jacques' IS listed among David's credits. It's noted (red arrow) in the Jan 2007 edition in Vol 75, p. 319.

Now in case you're wondering why there would be confusion about whether he was or was not in the film because you could surely just see his face and there you have it. Well, that's the whole problem. You never SEE his face! So we need to put on our detective hats. You call yourself a DT fan? Let's test that, shall we?

At the very beginning of the short, Veronique is served by a waiter in black pants and a black shirt who's wearing what appears to be a white waiter's apron. Only the waiter’s hands and fingers are visible to Veronique’s right as she hands the waiter her menu. Here are a few screen shots from that moment.

Study the waiter's hand and thumb carefully. At the risk of sounding nutty, we DT fans are familiar with his hands and fingers and the ways they're distinctly shaped from other works he's been in. What I mean is, his thumb...bends...a certain way. Right? And so does this particular thumb! So it's MY belief this is his hand, and he is indeed the uncredited waiter. But what say you?

Really, I think the ONLY WAY we'll ever know for sure is if we go to the source. And that source, my friends, is Richard Clark himself. He could tell us if David Tennant is the uncredited waiter in the short film 'One-Eyed Jacques'. "Ready to rock on, Jackass? " You smiled brightly at him, as to wish him good luck for what's to come.

"You bet it, L/N" He grins in response before lifting you up and spinning you around backstage. You grumble into laughter

"What's the matter, Y/N, Scared you'll lose?" He sings out jokingly grinning at you, You roll your eyes hitting him a bit harsh in the rib , making him groan out "OW! OKAY OKAY ITS ON!"

"Like you'll win!" As both of you fool around and fake wrestle, limbs flying around in the air as you struggle out of his grip.

Knowing he would never harm you in any form, you wrap your legs around his waist trusting him to support your weight as you both spin. You reach up flinging your arms around. Eventually you both grow tired as Eddie settles you down, laughter dying out as deep breaths take over the backstage room .

"You know, Munson I'm fucking proud of you, show the world your talent." You shove his chest playfully.

"Aw, L/N are you getting all soft on me?" He places a hand over his heart pretending to fall dramatically and you chuckle "oh you're full of shit!" Eventually it was close to time, Gareth was calling him over.

Quickly, He waves his arms around you like a magician and goes "and for my next trick!... I run away!" Before walking off to his bandmates.

You giggle at his failed humor and leave backstage going to over within the crowd, sitting down in your preferred seat.

On Stage

The stage lights dims, The equipment is on stage, The band appears. People are cheering them on, screaming their names As you cheer with the crowd, giggling like mad in excitement.

Eddie reaches his arm up pointing upwards before he strokes his guitar strings in a fast motion. The band begins to play an original song. The Crowd grows wild, cheering them on and especially making comments of Eddie the cheers of fangirls "STOMP ON ME!",, "MY NUMBER IS 44-", as well as girls sitting on their boyfriends shoulders screaming "IM SINGLE FOR YOU!",, not to mention the fanboys saying "FOR LEGAL REASONS I'M NOT GAY"

Eddie seems to smirk at all the attention raising his eyebrow at all of the fans screaming for him, he seems to soak up the attention.

You frown, jealously pouring within your gut making you heated. But you wanna support your friend so you brush it all off even though you're very close to snapping.

The song gets more intense as fans cheer and Headbang their hair all in sync with eachother. Cheering the band on as fans continue to compliment and praise the life out of Eddie.

You try to enjoy yourself and the music as Eddie licks his bottom lip down at his fans just to mess with them. Then he walks over jamming out, going over to a very attractive person, reaching over and holding their hand, caressing their skin. You scoff at that, folding your arms over your chest flexing your muscles through your shirt, titling your head to the side.

Eddie walks backwards, headbanging as his hands fiddle with the chords, playing beautifully as the song ends.

One song left !

After a few original songs, you grew more and more bitter about how Eddie was interacting with his fans. Yet, you reasoned that it's stage presence and it's performative.

Eddie's eyes search for you within the crowd, when his eyes meet yours and he winks as the outro song starts and it's the intro to your favorite song: 'Rock Me Amadeus'. Your eyes light up immediately smile as Eddie continues to look at you, flipping his hair back and forth with his bandmates.

You giggle at his antics, rocking out with the crowd before realizing the bitterness in your heart was because you loved him. You LOVE Eddie fucking ' freak' Munson and it shows.

You smile brighter as the song fades into your ears, you cheer him on "SHOW EM WHOSE BOSS!" Dancing to the beat, poorly swaying your hips lightly just having fun and Eddie catches on, staring you down giggling to himself at your poor dancing.

Eventually the song ends and the fans cheer louder. The stags dims once more as the Eddie flips the crowd off as an ending motion and the crowd cheers louder.

You ran out of the crowd to backstage where the band is heading, seeing Eddie you tackle him to the ground, giving him a bear hug. "Man, you did not!" Eddie grumbles in pain before adjusting himself "Man, I did." He smiles up at you before flicking your forehead.

You giggle at the impact playfully saying "ow Man, that hurts". Eddie rolls you both over stands up. Then helps you back up off the ground "I'm guessing you liked the show" he did finger gun movements.

You roll your eyes, blowing some of your hair out of your face well tried blowing the strands/coils out of the way until Ed's just helps you move it. "That better for you, sweetheart?" You punch his chest gently "as if I needed your help, unlike you I can graduate high-school without retaking senior year" Eddie gasps dramatically "oh that's fucked up, don't be like that!"

You look at him and his band before pulling him away to talk to him privately. "Hey, eds? Can we talk and not fuck around for a moment?" Eddie raises an eyebrow looking at you, his eyes filled with curiosity and worry "what's up, Y/N?"

You look down, gaining the courage "I know this is like so stupid and I know you don't even swing that way I just- I don't know. I think I'm in love with you. I was just so.. so bitter over your fans it's so stupid I just, forget it"

Eddie starts grinning like the menace he is "so you drag me over to make out with me, cause I don't really mind that part, listen I don't know if you're forgetting the whole bandana thing or how I played our song we love.. but I gotta admit L/N. You're fucking mind-blowing, now kiss me."

Your jaw just drops, eyes all wide, eyebrows perched together. Your whole face just saying 'are you being legit.. like you want me to?' Ed's urges you on, pulling your waist to his indicating he really wants this just as much as you do.

You take a step, getting closer to his face brushing your nose against his. Before Eddie just gets all impatient so he kisses you deeply.

You quickly match the movements of his, putting your fingers into his curls. As the kiss turns more passionate and full of love until you both have to break off for air. "I guess that settles it, my place? Horror movies? Pizza?" Munson smirks at you as you reply "I think I would like that."

Zatanna’s Age

One of the more frustrating things about YJ (at least for me) was deaging Zatanna and making her a contemporary of Dick Grayson. This has lead to some confusion about her actual age since in the comics she is older and is friends with Bruce Wayne and the two were almost lovers at one point.   

I have also seen some YJ Chalant fans claiming that Zatanna was always younger in the comics and it was Paul Dini who aged her up to be in Bruce’s generation. While there is some truth to the notion that she was younger initially, it doesn’t tell the whole story.  

When Zatanna debuted in 1964, her age wasn’t specified. She claims that she has been searching for her father in years: 

The same year the Teen Titans debuted and you can see, this is how teenagers were commonly drawn and written back then:  

Not just the outdated-even-for-that-era slang but even the art style makes it obvious if a character was prepubescent. Some of this does depend on the writer/artist but given the era I think they would have made it obvious if she was a teenager and I doubt they would have put her in her classic stage outfit costume if she was.     

She reunited with her father JLoA #51  published in 1967:

In 1969 Dick Grayson had just left for college:      

Zatanna joined the League for real in JLoA #161 published in 1978:   

We also learn in the same issue that Zatanna’s Search took place over 3 years (which was the actual number of years in real life that it took to publish that story arc):

But by JLA #187 she has grown considerably: 

The New Teen Titans debuted in DC Comics Presents #26 in 1980, Dick was still 18 in that:  

Zatanna was an adult and with the JL when the JL and NTT clashed in the early issues of NTT:  

In New Teen Titans #37 learn that Dick is 19:   

He quit being Robin in the NTT #39 and debuted as Nightwing in Tales of the New Teen Titans #44 (which was a continuation of the NTT that picked up where the original numbering left off)..   

Now, comic book time is wonky and sometimes characters personal timeline doesn’t always match up with others.  You have Dick Grayson who was 18 for a decade and half before aging one year then you have Zatanna, for whom some of her stories took place in the same number of years as the real world and others following the standard comic book time.   

So we have Zatanna whom during her first appearance had been searching for her father for ‘years’ already, then spends the next three years teaming up with other heroes while looking for him until she finds him, she joins the League and goes through additional character growth.   

Zatanna’s first Whos Who stated that her father went missing when she was a child and started searching for him in her twenties. Robinson even referenced it in his Starman comic when he had Zatara claim that he was missing from his daughter’s life for 20 years. This is of course a contradiction since in DC Blue Ribbon Digest #5, Zatanna is shown to be grown up when she first discovers her father was missing.  Later Whos Who profiles confirm that she was 18 when her father disappeared.  No matter how you slice it Zatanna was older and close to her mid twenties when she debuted while Dick was still in college. For comparison, most of the other adult heroes were said to be in their late 20′s and early 30′s.    

Black Canary/Zatanna: Bloodspell gives Zee and Dinah an age difference of 4 years, even though the story is not canon it is heavily based on canon events and the age difference is consistent with her depiction in her early years.   

In fact, Zatanna in the 70′s was probably around the same age as Barbara Gordon whom in Pre Crisis continuity was a fully grown Congresswoman at the age of 25 while Dick was 18:

Interesting how they both ended up deaged and then paired with Dick Grayson.   

In 1993′s Batman: TAS episode ‘Zatanna’ written by Paul Dini her and Bruce were shown to training together. Later Dini incorporated that into canon when he was writing Detective Comics which aged her up to the same generation as the rest of the League.   Given the sliding timescale, her becoming older or younger was bound to happen at some point. The idea of BatZee teaming up was followed up on by Michael Green in Superman/Batman, James Tynion IV during his Detective Comics run and later JLD and by Vita Ayala in their current Batman: Urban Legends story arc.   

So why did YJ deage Zatanna?   

 I can’t find any official word on it but I think the writers were trying to be clever and reference the fact that Zatara also debuted in Action Comics #1; the same comic that Superman first debuted in.  Zatanna debuted in 1964 exactly 13 years in real time after John Zatara’s last appearance in the Golden Age in 1951. When Zatanna first appeared on YJ, she was 14 year old.        

The Team on YJ is a reinvention of the original Fab 5 team but they substituted Garth with Kaldur and Donna Troy with Artemis Crock. Then they mixed in more contemporary characters from Tim’s generation like Miss Martian and Superboy into the roster.  YJ simultaneously does it’s own thing while also trying to streamline the entire DCU history in one cohesive whole. Depending on the individual, some of those changes work, for others it doesn’t.  It’s a combination of the original Teen Titans run and the early 00′s Geoff Johns Teen Titans run mixed with the shows own ideas with little to none of the Wolfman/Perez stuff.    

Still, I think it does Zatanna’s character a disservice to just give her spot on the JL to her father thereby also giving all her canonical friendships and history with other heroes to her father instead. Especially when she has a canonical prodigy who worked with the Teen Titans in the comics.      

I don’t mind her teaming up with Dick Grayson and I welcome the possibility of them working together in the comics. I just don’t think a long term romance with Dick would work out in canon, at least not to Zatanna’s benefit, but I think them teaming for a story arc or two would be fun.  Nightwing is more fun, less gloomy character than Constantine or Batman and could bring out Zatanna’s playful side.  I just think the rest of her history should stay intact.

Behold - Assassination Classroom Iceberg

This is just my opinion obviously, and things I thought were kind of relevant. Explanations below cut!

Tier One

Shounen Jump - the weekly manga magazine Assassination Classroom originally was published in Yuusei Matsui - the series creator Nagisa's gender - in reference to the amount of people who think Nagisa's a girl for some period of time

Tier Two

Ramen gun meme - a viral tumblr post using the clip of Gastro preparing ramen with a gun which blew up far outside the fandom Koro Q - The fantasy chibi spin off manga and anime Manga only villains - Numerous characters (usually assassins) who only appeared in the manga 365 Days - The movie, featuring adult Karma and Nagisa remembering their days in class Toonami rerelease - Recent broadcast on an anime channel which has caused a sharp increase in new fans

Tier Three

Live action movies - two movies adapted from the ass class story Kunudon - the nut mascot of the school. Featured in weird BDSM situations within Koro Q Sonic Ninja - movie (loved by Karma and Nagisa) in the series. Has a whole trailer post credits in one of the episodes Nagisa's gender (controversy) - in reference to the portions of fans who fetishize him, write him as a female etc., and the fans who push back against it Pop culture references - numerous references to other anime like One Piece, Naruto, etc., but also other properties such as Pirates of the Caribbean Asano's mother - a character who barely exists aside from one manga panel, where you can see her back

Tier Four

Mobile game - a card collecting app/game where multiple illustrations of all the characters were released. No longer running. 3DS game - game based on the main story. Wasn't released outside of Japan nor translated Korotan - four book series for teaching English, but also included short stories. Most significant is Korotan D, which features the kids after graduating high school 7 years later manga - a number of short manga pages featuring a few characters in the future found in the Graduation Album. Karma discourse - never ending internal fights about whether Karma is a good person or not, especially over his Nagisa jokes

Tier Five

Korosuu - similar to korotan books, but focused on maths. Less well known due to incomplete English translation (i know im still working on it i swear-) Everyone owns the mountain - lesser known fact that E Class used their money to legally purchase the 3E class building and mountain Hachiouji - the real life city Kunugigaoka is based on Korosensei's nationality - more so because it's unknown, though there are a lot of fan theories OVA - an adaptation of the Kyoto arc before the anime was made, featuring a different voice cast and art style

Tier Six

Yada is LGBT - it's subtle but this is canon, and so she's the only definitively not straight character in the series Bonus songs - the releases of the OPs came with some bonus tracks sung by the cast (you can find them on spotify) "half middle two" - the worst translation in the series, of Karma's codename. It was meant to be a reference to the cultural phenomenon of a teenager living in a fantasy world where they're the best at everything. The shed - cursed location (i.e where Irina gets 'helped' by Korosensei) Timeline - for Aguri to have been the 3E teacher, the school year has to have lasted more than a full year Takada and Tanaka - two bully characters often seen from main campus. Weirdly implied to be gay for each other.

Tier Seven

Fuwa meta - Fuwa often breaking the fourth wall (esp in the manga), and implied to be the writer of Koro Q Bitch Sensei and Karasuma's daughter - Introduced in the seven years manga, but a lot of people missed that they have a canon child Kayano's dad is evil - a theory but with decent proof that Aguri may have been somewhat forced to marry Yanagisawa

Tier Eight

Commodore Matthew Perry - the historical commodore who came to Japan in the 1800s and forced the country to open up borders for trade (basically one of the most important Japanese historical events). In the manga, his image is shown when Bitch Sensei is teaching how to seduce foreigners. Karasuma's dead sister - referenced on the ass class wiki, with little explanation or general fandom knowledge as to who, how, or when Kayano pregnant - a theory some fans had due to the positioning of her hands in the final manga chapter

Hey, Toonami people, just for you I'll explain Karma's codename.

Long story short they localised this terribly.

The Japanese is actually "chuunihan" and comes from the phrase "chuunibyou" or "second grader disease". It refers to middle schoolers who develop a kind of fantasy coolness complex where they think they're super self important - sometimes so into anime/games that they outwardly act like they're a protagonist.

The "han" here means half, so basically they're saying that Karma has protagonist kun disease but he goes about it in a half assed lazy way

The AUs I have fully developed at this point but will probably never write

- Nagisa is an assassin who murders Karma, but this comes back to bite him in the ass when Karma turns into a ghost and starts haunting him. At first he sticks to poltergeist shit, but somehow he ends up falling in love

- Karma, being an edgy teen, decides to summon a demon to do his bidding. Considering he doesn't know what he's doing, he ends up summoning Nagisa, an incubus. Except, this is literally Nagisa's first job. Then there's the fact that Karma has no interest in doing incubus... stuff. He just wants Nagisa to fetch him food, mess with Gakushuu etc. They end up having to hug alot so Nagisa doesn't starve. Surprisingly innocent and wholesome

- A straight up Barbie in an Island Princess retelling, just with Japanese flavour. Nagisa, the son of a samurai lord, comes across the long-lost prince having been sent to scour some nearby islands. A bunch of intrigue and plot occurs, but the most important parts are that Karma is feral enough to sleep in trees, and he can still talk to animals for some reason.

- Percy Jackson AU (because I'm trash) where Nagisa is a child of Thanatos (or Hades, I haven't decided) and Karma is a son of Nemesis. Honestly, I feel like that alone speaks for itself.

- Assassin Nagisa and lawyer Karma. Nagisa's on trial for murder, and Karma falls in love with him over the course of trying to defend him. He ends up pulling out all the stops, and by some kind of magic gets Nagisa off the hook. After which, Nagisa tells him he was guilty the entire time.

- The super cool Harry Potter AU I came up with before we found out how cursed JK was. Like this one I'll definitely never write, but Nagisa as the actual heir of Slytherin just chatting to snakes in his sleep...

- An AU where they both actually had good parents. AKA, Karma's a kind, respectful, emotionally balanced kid. Nagisa's far less unnerving. They were dating but broke up when Nagisa went into E Class, and this time Karma never got suspended...

Long story short, my ability to make literally anything into a karmagisa au is frightening. The worst part is I could write DETAILED posts on all of these too.

What’s this about koro Q and karmagisa?

Okay strap yourself in. This became a Karma sexuality meta. warning for koro q spoilers.

This centres around Bitch Sensei and her 'charm' ability. Note that Nagisa 'charms' (read: he doesn't actually, everyone just thought he was hot) 3E in chapter two, but what I'm talking about here is the sort of mind-control ability, which is consistently represented by a heart around the head.

This section of the panel speaks clearly. You can only be charmed if you're attracted to women. Hell, "are you gay" is right there (I don't have access to the Japanese rn so I can't double check the exact wording).
