Full respect to mxtx and her apparent tall people kink but as much as I believe it's her right to make every single character a fucking tree, I strongly disagree with jiang cheng's canon height being 185cm. Than man should be 179cm exactly. Just barely shy of 180cm. I think even if you do not grow up with an inferiority complex topping out at this height legally requires you to develop it.

179 cm, incidentally, translates to 5'10.5" if my online sources are to be believed. Which, in a beautiful alliance of cross-measurement system solidarity, is also a perfect height to be deeply insecure about! If someone asks you how tall you are and you answer 5'10.5" you sound desperate. But if you round up to 5'11" you are technically lying about your height and any loose shixiong within ear shot may loudly call you out on it, making you look even more desperate. You can't win. Just like Jiang Cheng.

This is a hard pill I’ve already had to learn to swallow, and it sucks, trust me. To put so much love, passion, and hard work into making something cool, just to have no one see it can be very dissuading. It can easily take the wind out of your sails if all you’re looking at is the numbers.

Now don’t get me wrong, you have every right to complain. Every algorithm I know of seems hostile to smaller creators. And this site doesn’t even have an algorithm. It has a tag system, where you cherry pick tags you like/wanna see, and the site will be like “oh you like [insert tag here]? Here’s this stack of posts that have this tag”

Algorithm rambles aside, making art isn’t, and shouldn’t be, about numbers. It’s about creation. The joy and love that goes into making something cool, even if no one sees it.

I had to find this out for myself, and teach it to myself. And trust me, the people that truly enjoy the stuff you make, will hold your art close to them, and keep an eye out for new posts.

Your dad au for the amazing digital circus is awesome. I will say that your posts have made some of my bad days better.

I guess what I’m trying to say tho, is that you’re doing great. Keep your chin up, your audience will find you eventually. You got this! ^-^

I agree with a lot of what's been said about the pacing (namely that this already great season could have been even better with an extra beat between eps 5 & 6, and likely another between 7 & 8) but I just want to take a second to remember what a fucking accomplishment this season is.

Like, just off the top of my head: they managed to expand the world-building of the show's pirate universe, add compelling new characters, deepen the central relationship in a genuinely complex and nuanced way with rich character arcs for both, at least suggest at greater complexity and emotional development for many of the background characters, and produce more expansive and technically challenging visuals including some very impressive action and crowd sequences. And they did all that with two fewer episodes, while still maintaining the original tone of the show and keeping run times under 30 minutes apiece.

It's not perfect, and they're not equally successful on all fronts, but it is extremely fucking good, and the fact that it gets anywhere close within those limitations is frankly an astounding artistic achievement
