Attack On Titan: Modern AU

(Or as I call it the highschool sweet heart au.)

Some of you may have seen my post based on my Attack on Titan Modern AU! But I've only ever posted photos. (I have more on my tiktok. Feel free to check it out)

So I'm gonna share my notes from this AU and my personal take on the characters in a modern universe.

Some starter notes:

I tried to bring elements from the original story over, but obviously, it's not just a complete modern retelling, and to be honest, I mostly focused on Eren bc like...that's my boy. I have some thoughts on the others and they're listed below but I don't touch on everyone bc I just don't have enough thoughts about them.

The modern AU does not take place in our world. It's still theirs, so the setting and map is the same just...modern. You can honestly take this as a reincarnation AU.

So let's go!

Eren:

• Eren's mom died in a car accident when he was nine. He was there to see it but luckily was mostly unharmed. His mom however died due to the impact.

• His father is a doctor, and because of this, he is rarely ever home, so his brother Zeke has to take care of him. Zeke is overly protective and tries to prevent Eren from doing things he considers to be reckless.

• Zeke and Eren have a weird relationship because while Zeke is the one who raised him and took care of him, Eren resents the fact that Zeke mothers him so much, especially as he gets older and tries to have more freedom to do what he wants with his life.

• As kids Armin, Mikasa, and Eren stuck together. Eren defended them from bullies, but the trio always managed to find themself in trouble. Mostly due to Eren always getting into something or starting fights of his own.

• He was already a bit of a trouble maker, but when his mom passed, he seemed to spiral. Zeke, only being 20 when he started taking care of Eren, means having to juggle college, a job, and raising a child. Needless to say, Eren went unsupervised a LOT in middle school.

• During freshman year of high school, Eren started attending Scout High, where he met a lot of his friends. He struggled at first but eventually formed a rag-tag group that only grew. One of those is Arte, who, like Reiner and Berthold, is a year above him. Their friendship was rocky at first, but they eventually came to an understanding.

• During freshman year, he joined the soccer team. By junior year he became captain.

• During sophomore year, the changes slowly began. Zeke became more overbearing, pushing Eren to be sneaky, and his father was around less and less.

• Then the incident happened. It was during a house party At Historia's right after homecoming. Everything was fine at first until Reiner made a foul comment about Eren's mom being dead. A fight broke out between them, resulting in Reiner having to go to the hospital. Because Arte, and a few others vouched for Eren and said that Reiner instigated the fight Eren got left off easy but was made to go to therapy and was put on probation.

• During junior year of high school, Eren becomes more reckless and starts to isolate from his friends more. He hangs out with the wrong sort of kids (Floch and Samuel), gets into fights more often, skips class, and overall stops caring as much. He picks up skateboarding as a hobby.

Extra notes:

• While he plays soccer he also does skateboarding as a hobby.

• He's into metal bands such as 5FDP and SOAD.

• His grandparents (dad side) are very conservative. They also don't approve of Grisha divorcing Dina and Marrying Carla (partially bc she was younger than him). They tend to favor Zeke and consider Eren to be nothing more than a trouble maker.

Arte

• In contrast to Eren's more middle class suburban life, Arte grew up your stereotypical white trash sort of home with a neglectful mother and an alcoholic father

• They grew mostly isolated, living too far from the city to make friends and considered too much of an odd kid to make any at school.

• That is until middle school. When they met Winnie.

• Winnie comes from upper class. She's rich but considered the back sheep of the family and because of this her and Arte become close friends. Closer than friends even

• But in 8th grade they split. Winnie wanted to stay in public school to be with Arte but Arte pushed her away, ensuring Winnie would go to boarding school. Art thought she was better off there.

• Arte then attends the same highschool as Eren their freshman year.

• Arte is friends with Annie (both are lower class and have bad parents) and Hitch - designated sunshine and rich girl of the group.

• Absolutely loves automotive and English classes. They help fix Eren's car on the regular.

• Their relationship when they first meet is weird and mostly bickering. Very friend/enemies through Eren's freshman and Sophmore year.

• Around his junior year he's getting in a lot more fights. Arte helps patch his face up in the boy's bathroom. There's a heart to heart and they become actual friends soon after.

• Arte Annie and Hitch start hanging around Eren's friend group more - leads to Armin and Annie dating.

• For the rest of Junior year Arte and Eren end up sneaking out (arte sneaking into his room, going to the skatepark, wandering the neighborhood, late night McDonald's runs)

• Eventually they end up dating but it's a bit of a slow burn bc neither wants to admit they like the other.

• Arte keeps Eren as far away from their home life as possible bc they don't want him seeing how awful it is but also bc they're fairly certain if he were to their dad hitting them Eren would end up in prison for murder

• Eren does find out via seeing the scars and bruises on Arte and loses his shit

• The one time he did catch Arte's dad putting his hands on them Arte had to drag him back into the car to avoid a fight.

Extra notes:

• AAH have matching friendship bracelets

• Likes music like Radiohead, Nirvana, Deftones...

• They go to football games (hitch is a cheer leader) and Eren's soccer games together. As well as Parties, homecoming, prom (Arte asks Eren for their senior year and vise versa for his), haunted houses, carnival, etc.

• Arte stays over at Eren's a lot bc bad home life.

• They also get Eren into smoking weed. Zeke does not approve.

• Arte graduates first but takes a gap year to wait on Eren so they can apply to colleges together (with zekes help)

• During this time Arte temporarily moves in with Zeke and Eren.

• Unfortunately neither knows what they want to do with their life atm

• I really feel like Eren would be the kinda person to go to a lot of protest though. He probably organizes half of them.

• Arte -> Enginering Major

• Eren -> Social Justice Major

• Zeke and Yelena are married. They end up moving to Liberio, Marley and try to take Eren with them.

• Eventually end up getting dog together named Titan. He's a chow and Tibetan mastiff mix

Armin:

• He still lives with his grandpa

• His parents are alive they just travel a lot for work so he doesn't see them very much

• It's part of the reason he wants to see the ocean and travel.

• Ends up a marine biologist

• Armin x Annie !

• Takes a lot of IB classes in High-school.

• Likes softer music. I'm thinking Cavetown vibes.

Mikasa:

• Her parents are alive! Yay!

• Her, Armin and Eren all lived in the same neighborhood. Armin and Eren were friends first and she joined them when her family moved into the neighborhood.

• She almost had a little brother but he didn't make it. Thus, she projects big sister energy onto Eren and Armin.

• Listens to Lana del Rey and Mitski. Unless she's working out, that is.

• Ends up a physical trainer after highschool.

• Jean x Mikasa bc that boy adores her and would actually give her the domestic life she craves.

Friend groups:

1. Eren Armin Mikasa

2. Jean, Sasha, Connie and Marco are all friends.

3. Annie Hitch and Arte

4. Reiner and Bertholdt

5. Historia <3 Ymir

Porco, Piek, Marcel aren't really ever relevant but I imagine they go to a rival school in Libero. Porco is on the boy's soccer team and he and Eren have beef bc of it.

Reiner:

• Reiner's issues in this AU stem from growing up in a conservative household. His mother is reglious and his dad went out for milk...

• He's also a closeted homo. His feelings for Historia are merely him hetero-compensating. Hence, his issues towards Eren, who is very openly Bisexual. (Also idk but there's homoerotic tension there. Have you seen them fight??)

• But by college he figures his shit out. He's a changed man! I like to think he ends up dating Ploam's OC Logan.

• Anyway, just imagine your stereotypical closested football joke but then he grows up, gets him a bf and a shelter dog and LIVES HAPPILY

Annie:

• Kinda already summarized her in the previous notes but

• She's still adopted in this au. Her dad still sucks. Her and Arte have bonds bc of it

• AruAnnie! They get cats when they get older. Colossus the maincoon and sphinx (idk what to name it)

• I like Yama's take on her music taste. She definitely listens to Evanescence and Avil Lavigne.

• Professional MMA fighter after Highschool

I don't really have thoughts on Bertholdt, and I'm sorry I just don't have any thoughts on him :p

Sasha and Connie are still best friends! I think It would be really cute if Niccolo was from the same school as Porco and Piek and Sasha met him during a bake sale and liked his baking so much he went into Culinary after HS and ofc eventually got his own restaurant. Sasha is a food blogger and is constantly posting his dishes on the gram which just brings in most business for him. (Listen I need these two TO BE HAPPY)

Marco doesn't die! For once, omg. He and Jean become good friends. He, just as with the show, that starts Jean's character arc. Instead of dying, he ends up having to move away but it forces Jean to realize he needs to open up and make friends with other people too.

i make him evil. ok jk but also im serious. im mostly just gonna cover his backstory in my au, rather than his current part in it.

cw for brief mentions of animal abuse, bullying, the usual. AGAIN THIS IS FOR MY AU !! also tysm :3..

liu is about 4-6 years older than jeff. they lived somewhere in the midwest until jeff was about 10.

they were both raised by incredibly good parents and had a very strong support system, always visiting their grandparents, big christmas every year, parents always go to open house/parent-teacher conferences, etc. tried getting their kids into sports, would go to every game, literally just the stereotypical great parent. not even a secret "ooo behind closed doors they r actually abusive...!" thing theyre literally just good.

jeff was always a bit more on the aggressive side, something they especially noticed when he was 5 and could not be left alone with a single fucking pet. he'd yank at and shake anything small enough to pick up, and punch and kick anything too big to pick up. every family pet was scared of him.

even at school, he was a bully - it started as typical grade school shit, putting gum in girls hairs, stealing peoples belongings, pushing kids off the play structures. he targeted girls especially. he's been warned, suspended, expelled - but his dad got a job offer in the east coast that they couldnt really ignore

he was 12 when he started harassing a girl, following her around the playground, calling her a slut, yanking her hair, spitting on her, etc - and eventually, her brother and his friends stepped in.

thiiis is where i wanted to put randy and his friends in. theyre older kids, around 14 and still more on the mean side, but they didn't just randomly target jeff for fun bc he's "the new kid". just like jeff harassed that girl, they began harassing him - but of course with the strength of 3 teenage boys, rather than an 12 yr old. liu would interfere when he could, but he was still a student and began working his first job by this point.

jeff got into physical fights with them for weeks, but he was quick to turn it into something bloody and brought a pocket knife. this time the fight occurred in front of jeffs house, when his parents were at work, and liu ended up running out to make them cut it out. he tried to grab the knife out of jeffs hands, he tried to stop his brother, but jeff was serious about what he wanted - and he wanted to fucking stab randy

so he did, right in the stomach. it was nothing fatal.

liu took the fall, being 16 and terrified of what could happen to jeff if he landed himself in juvenile hall - the other 3 boys were content with this, knowing it meant jeff really didn't have anyone to defend him by this point. thinking it would fuck with jeff even more . . BUT JEFFS A LITTLE SHIT he doesnt fucking careee . something about "i never asked him to take the blame that shits on him" or whatnot.

but obv once randy recovered fully it got worse. it went from schoolyard level harassment to borderline stalking, robbing him, holding him down so randy could fucking stomp on him, so on and so forth.

and eventually the bleach happened, and the fire happened, and it didn't really have anything special or involve a birthday party or whatever . it was just another insane fucking attack on jeff, although randy and them didn't exactly expect the fire to spread so fucking quickly - they just splashed some gas at his feet, threw a match, though it would scare him and maybe fuck up his pants. really did NOT think that shit through

jeff recovered in the hospital, and the trio decided to leave him alone. they were little shits who took it too far, but they werent trying to do all that. jeff didnt snitch, he didnt want them to get put away . he wanted to keep going, obviously

things settled down for a while. jeff was waiting and waiting and waiting. his parents were mortified, they rarely spoke to him now. required family dinners at the dining table turned to just his parents eating together, liu in juvie and jeff in his room. jeff began getting violent towards his parents as well, especially his mom - he started spiraling after the fire, especially since the trio weren't bothering him anymore and it was driving him nuts. he would do freaky shit, showing up at their houses now, shattering their windows, killing their pets. they'd come and beat his ass, and he'd do it again. nobody wanted to get their parents involved by this point, they all did too much shit - but jeff was getting UNBEARABLE

jeff eventually was around 15 or so, liu was out of juvie and 19 and in community college bc he couldnt get into any of the universities he was dreaming about.

liu wasnt nice to jeff anymore. he wasn't "hardened" by his experience in juvie or anything, but whatever he saw in jeff was NOT his little brother anymore - if jeff spoke to him, he'd ignore him. if jeff got too close, he'd shove him off. if jeff slapped their mother, liu would punch him.

liu thinks it was bound to happen. he misses his little brother, even when he was a mean little kid - but he always knew there was something realy, really fucking wrong with jeff, and when he woke up to jeff on top of him, stabbing into him , he knew it was inevitable.

liu survived, the only one in his family to do so. he wondered what he could've done to stop it, especially as other kids began showing up in the news. he wonders if he shouldve just let jeff go to juvie. he's kinda shocked at the fucked up ass police sketches that pop up, he didn't really remember seeing that damn smile when jeff was on him

jeff continues fucking shit up and is a piece of shit all around

this is already pretty long so if anyone wants a less "backstory" version of headcanons and more current stuff just lmk ;3

so recently

i was watching a bunch of videos on blogthegreatrouge

and remembered my once love for PJs Daycare. but now i know its disgusting like.. so bad. so is she. i just. ugh.

so, im going to remake it. i mean remake that shit i will do my best to make it better. starting with removing all the fankids characters and ships because.. sanscest is w e i r d.

anyway, for the people who some how dont know what im talking about is heres a summery. if i spelled that wrong shut up no i didnt

Tw: SA, suicidal thoughts I suppose, gr00ming basically

pjs daycare was a AU for undertale made by blogthegreatrouge. the au, was as it says, a daycare. basically all the sans aus were children, from like 3-6 i think, and the characters were... sanscest ship characters or sans fusions. one of the caretakers, and our- basic mc, is Paperjam, or PJ, the fusion between ink sans and error sans. i say fusion because i think that what they were originally intended to be before the fandom... yoinked them. aslo i refuse to ship sans aus together because thats WEIRD AS ALL SHIT. anyway. those are the basics, shipkids/fusion sanses are the caretakers and the sanses are children. interesting concept ig (i will make it better trust)

ok now that we have the basics down, lets get to the story. this was a ask blog so there wasnt much story, but from what i do remember, there were 2 major plot lines. the first plot line was uhm. borderline gr00ming. basically fresh sans, the satire sans au, has a crush on PJ. this fresh is i think about 3 yrs old. so ok, hes a kid, kids are weird. he claims he wants to marry pj. again, child, children say that stuff alot. and you think pj would be yk, normal and be like " no no, we cant do that" nicely and shit. WELL HE DOESNT. THIS BITCH SAYS "we cant get married righ now, but when your all grown up we can ^^" IM SORRY HUH. SIR. WHAT. not only that, later, there is a ask of how would pj react to adult fresh. in which its super weird with really gross sexual tension. not only that, lets follow in this aus rule, aus made by the same creator/s are gonna be related. ok. error, fresh and geno/aftertale are brothers. kinda weird but lets keep going here. pj in rouges interpretation is a ship child. A SHIP CHILD. MEANING FRESHIE HERE IS IS UNCLE?? ITS SO WEIRD?? also there is a mini plot line where ink and error like each other and its a big deal even tho, again, CHILDREN. also same person but i digress.

our next plotline is... where shit hits the fan. so, error, gets deathly sick and needs to go to the hospital. didnt know monsters had hospitals but ok. geno, error's older brother who is at most, 5, gets really depressed. and ik depression can come at any age, however, GENO here tries to commit farewell. this. doesn't. make. sense. a child isnt old enough to even comprehend death that well, let alone have the feeling to die AND ACT ON IT. not only that, right after stopping geno from leaving this mortal plane (isnt he immortal though?) they completely forget about it and have this weird romance between palette and goth (swap sans and dream sans) (geno and reaper) and its super weird, and gross (not as gross as nerd and jock but still) and palette is weirdly obsessive over goth and shit so its all just a huge pile of SHIT

oh yeah there is also this weird plot line with like this trio of mini villains, one being rouges self insert i think so. yeah.

anyway, that was pj's daycare. i will be reworking and remaking the entirety of this au. so uh.

We Make Our Own Destiny: Ageless

Word Count: 4785

Episode Summary: Lex, Clark, and Lana discover an abandoned baby in a cornfield and take him back to the Kent farm. But when the newborn ages to a 7 year old in a matter of days, the trio frantically search for a cure before the rapid-aging disease kills him.

Chapter Summary: Evan ages. Lex suffers a meeting with his father. Clark and Lex take some alone time to keep their bond from fading out.

A/N: the muse finally shook itself loose from where it was snagged on this first in-between scene. Here's hoping I can get thru this a bit quicker now. I had really wanted to find a way for more smut in the barn, but it just wasn't feasible with Jonathan around. Me making their bond so tentative was really just a plot prop to ensure they have sex fairly often throughout the series 😅

Chapter Three:

After shaking themselves out of their stupor of confusion, Jonathan, Lana, Lex and Clark, are a bustling group of worried makeshift parents. Lana rushes over to Evan, plucking him up from the crushed cradle and wrapping the small blanket around his waist as she clutches him close to her chest. Jonathan lets Shelby in from where he's scratching at the door, barking in concern over the flash of light and the way the older farmer had rushed out of the barn. Clark and Lex cross over to Lana, looking over the child in her arms, checking for any damage to the young boy other than the very unexpected growth spurt.

After Clark subtly uses his x-ray vision to check Evan for other anomalies, he lets out a breath of sort-of relief. Shelby has calmed, now sitting in his bed by the couch, eyes locked on the little child everyone was so excited by, watching, just in case the safety he sensed turned out to be false. Jonathan now has Evan in his arms, marveling over the young boy in much the same way he did Clark all those years ago.

“Dad,” Clark calls his attention over to where he and Lex are standing by the kitchen counter, concerned looks on both their faces. Jonathan is surprised by the lack of worry within him at the fact that Lex is here to witness this. “Dad, Lex and I are going to go up to the barn, see if we can find some of my old clothes that Mom packed away, and set up a place for Lex to sleep in the loft. I’ll take the couch down here, and Evan can have my bed.”

“Alright, son. Lana and I’ll go get Evan settled. It has to have been a tiring day for the kid. We can all discuss this in the morning, I guess, since Martha won’t be back for a few hours.”

Clark nods in agreement and he and Lex retrieve Lex’s duffle bag and laptop case before heading out to the barn, both still bewildered by the events of the past few minutes.

The second Clark drops Lex's duffle bag on the couch, he finds himself wrapped in Lex's arms, tears blurring his vision before he even realizes how close to crying he is.

“Clark, hey, baby, it's okay. It's gonna be okay.” Lex is running his fingers through Clark's hair, easing his head down onto his shoulder to whisper in his ear. “I meant what I said at the hospital. I will not let anything happen to Evan if it's in my power to prevent it. I'll bring in my most trusted scientists, keep things as non-invasive as possible, and find out why this happened.”

Lex's mind was whirling as he held Clark close, trying to understand how the tiny infant had aged several years in a flash of light. Energy. It must have had something to do with energy. Like the ripple of light that had exploded past them just before they had found Evan in the resultant crater. The child must be meteor-affected, after all. “I trust you, Lex. I know you'd do anything for Evan. I saw it in your eyes.” Clark huffed a laugh, shaking his head ruefully. “Looks like it was pointless for me to pack those extra items in your bag. Never a dull moment in Smallville.”

“The last thing either of us really has time or energy for right now is sex. Hell, I'm so worn out, I haven't really even been able to feel your emotions the past day; I nearly forgot about it until I realized I wasn't feeling your worry just now.”

“I know. It's lessened for me, too. I don't know if it's because of the stress, or what…”

“We'll figure it out. After we get this all settled.” Lex reached out and cupped Clark's cheek briefly, smiling up at the young man. “For now, let's find some things for Evan and get back to the house before Jonathan comes looking. I think enough people know about us for one week.”

Clark grinned, gave Lex one more quick kiss, and strode across the loft to search for the boxes of his old clothes and toys that Martha had never been able to bring herself to donate. As he rummaged around, he tried to make his mind settle, focusing more on the realization that he hadn't felt Lex through the bond very strongly for the past few hours, not since the nightmare earlier.

The shrill tone of Lex's cell cut through the air, startling them both from their task. Lex straightened up from his box, pulled out the phone, and answered it sharply.

“Speak.” Clark turned at the tone of Lex's voice, concerned. Lex's mouth was set in a grim line as he listened to the caller. Clark resisted the urge to listen in. “When was this? Well, why the hell wasn't I notified immediately? Fine. Where is he now? No, I'll handle it. Stay there.”

Immediately after disengaging the call, Lex dialed the mansion's main line.

“Send Davis out to the Kent farm. Yes, for a few hours anyway. No, that's not necessary, I just have some business to tend to, and I'll be heading back on my own. Thank you, Lucinda.”

The phone closed with a snap, and Lex stalked back over to his bags, grabbing his laptop and stuffing it into its carry-case. Clark stood up from where he'd been crouched, a muted sense of stress and fear wafting through the bond from the older man.

“Lex?”

“Clark, I'm sorry, but I have to go back to the mansion for a while. I've been having my father followed, and apparently he met with Genevieve Teague earlier today and now he's on his way here. I need to be there when he arrives, I can't let him suspect anything has changed, not until it's too late for him to try to seize LuthorCorp back from me. Besides, this will give me a chance to get things in order to have Evan looked over. I really am sorry.”

“No, hey, I get it. If Genevieve really is after the stones, and had something to do with Lana getting possessed, it can't mean anything good if your dad is working with her. Lionel's come too close to my secrets before, what with the whole body-swapping thing. It probably is best if you're there to sidetrack him. Just be careful?”

“I always am, Clark.” Lex quirked a grin at Clark's baleful glare and kissed his cheek. “Fine, keep an ear out, then. I'll call for you if I need another impromptu rescue. Give Jonathan my apologies? I'll be back as soon as it's safe.”

Clark nodded and watched with growing apprehension as Lex hurried down the stairs and out of the barn. Another thing to worry about, then.

Lex is sitting at his desk in the study, studying a couple of pictures when Lionel enters. Lex had barely been home long enough to send out a few encrypted emails to the most trusted of the scientists in his meteor division, and order a slew of clothes, toys, and various necessities for Evan. The photos in his hands were merely part of the subterfuge, nothing new to his father, even if he did manage to snag a glance at them. He'd spent his life studying Lionel, knew exactly how to keep under his radar. The pictures were something his father would expect, and something would be noticed even more for their absence.

“What are you doing, son? An exciting new venture, something worthy of a captain of industry?”

Lex put the pictures away in a file folder, just managing not to sneer at his father's condescending, falsely inquisitive tone. It sickened him how long he had fallen for that fake interest, how he had only recently realized that that was merely Lionel's way of poking for information while seeming to give Lex the attention he had always craved from the elder Luthor.

“I'm simply continuing where you left off, Dad.” Lex shuffled some things around on his desk, forcing himself to look vaguely distracted. “Look, I, uh, can't talk now. I've got-”

“Well, we better talk. Genevieve Teague thinks you have the missing element.”

Lex shrugs, keeping his face devoid of any hint of understanding. Lionel huffs impatiently, raises a brow in an expression that screams don't pretend to be so obtuse.

“The one from China.”

“Come on, Dad”, Lex scoffs a laugh. This really is sadly easy. “You've raised me to be smarter than that. Why use Genevieve Teague as a threat? Why not just come out and ask for it yourself?”

And still, Lionel stands, as though he feels he needs the position of height, needs the illusion of power it affords him. Lex has to resist rolling his eyes.

“I'm here as a father who's concerned about the safety of his son.” How Lex manages not to laugh incredulously, he doesn't know. Lionel is fishing, pure and simple, either for Genevieve, or for his own edification. “She had Bridgette Crosby murdered because of one of those elements. You think she'd hesitate to do the same to you?”

“I don't have it.” Lex stands up from his desk, folder in hand, and steps around it to pass by his father, pausing to look him in the eye. “And even if I did, I'd never trust you.”

He's halfway to the double doors of his study before Lionel recovers.

“Lex.” Lex stops, only because Lionel would follow after him if he didn’t. “We haven't a lot of time left to spend together. You can go on for the rest of your life being mistrustful of me, or you can accept me as your father who loves you.”

Back to his father, Lex does roll his eyes this time. Love. He suspects his father did love him, at some distant point in his past. But, he's given up yearning for that love again, for the acceptance and approval he strove for for too long. He has a better love, now, with Clark. A love that is more pure, more real, than anything Lionel has ever had to offer. And he will do anything in his power to safeguard that love. Even if it goes against twenty-odd years of lessons learned at the side of the man behind him.

“She's dangerous, Lex. She-” And, kudos to the old man for perfecting the break in his voice as he tries one last time to find the desperate child once more. “Watch your back, son.”

“I always do.” And, I always will, especially around you, Lex thinks as he walks away without a backward glance, knowing Lionel won't deign to stick around now that he has failed to pull Lex into whatever web he was attempting to weave.

Lionel stares at the empty doorway for a moment, mentally moving an ivory pawn across the board. He can't pinpoint it, but something has given his son a backbone. Something has changed. Lionel didn't miss the lack of expensive cologne in the air as Lex passed him by, the air now redolent of cheap drugstore soap and - hay? No, he can't pinpoint it, but it bears the need for a more watchful eye.

Whatever it is, it can wait until the Teague woman and her whelp are dealt with. Get the element Genevieve killed Ms. Crosby for, find the one stolen from Lex all those months ago, and see what Lana's uninvited guest makes of them. Then, he can deal with his wayward son.

Plan rearranged and settled, Lionel lets himself out of the mansion, directing his driver to head back to Metropolis.

“Clark, I'm safe, but I need you.”

I'm an absolute sucker for worldbuilding and when I was re-reading A Little Monkey you'd mentioned how the Littles ward had extra beds for the CGs- do you have any other headcanons for your littles-are-known aus? Love your stuff!

In general in all of my fics…

There are levels of regressing. Some are on the older end or even if they regress younger, they can live alone, drive, etc. That’d be Tim in my “Grumpy Boy” verse. TK also can live on his own in “The Little Monkey” and did in NYC, but he chooses not to at this point as he’s still recovering from all the trauma that happened there. Others can’t live alone. I haven’t gone into it but Mateo can’t. The Terrible Trio in my Grey’s verses can’t. Their dropping isn’t as obvious to them and it effects them more in their older spaces.

There’s a foster care system for Littles that can’t live alone and need a full time caregiver. Most of the time, Littles can choose who they live with. Caregivers can also have their licenses taken away. Littles can also choose to enter the foster system so they can move to other places, get jobs, etc. This is what April did in my Grey’s verse vs Jackson and Alex who were kicked out.

Littles are a protected class. Most levels can work and go to school. They are to be given time off and not be penalized, within reason. For example, if a Little regresses more often than not, it’s not a reasonable accommodation for a job or school to continue to give them all that time off. But, this can be avoided by them knowing their classification early on so they’re not in that situation.

In all my verses, Littles are classified at 16 as that’s when their bodies begin regressing. Same with caregivers having the biological need to take care of someone. Some Littles show signs at a younger age. Potty training may take longer, they may have certain delays. I’ve said this in TLM, but the Strands knew pretty much TK’s whole life how he’d classify so it wasn’t a shock nor really a transition.

To piggy back off my last point, caregivers have biological urges/needs just as much as Littles. They need to take care of someone. Even if they don’t have a Little of their own, they often go into fields where they’ll be helping people. Thus why you have Owen as a first responder, all the caregivers in my Grey’s verses are doctors, etc.

Not all caregivers are good people and most neutrals are not bad people. Caregivers may have the biological need to care but just like parents who may love their children, they are not showing it in the best ways.

Neutrals can have guardianship of Littles (as we see in “Anonymous Ones” with Harper & Jackson) but they need to prove that the Little is still receiving the care they need.

There are people against caregivers, littles, etc. Even some classified as caregivers and littles protest the system. Conversion camps are unfortunately legal unless they are abusing Littles. However, Littles can refuse to go and it’s not covered under medical protection. Most just don’t feel safe protesting.

There are Little versions of basically all children’s places. Medical offices, daycares, regressor wings in hospitals, bounce places, parks, you get the picture. Aquariums and museums also have “Little hours” for Littles to feel more comfortable.

There are nannies for Littles. I want to go into this in one of my verses but most don’t need one given they either only feel comfortable letting family watch them (I could not picture Owen leaving TK with a nanny) or in my Grey’s AU, there’s a daycare right there.

A lot of Littles sometimes aren’t always “big” or “little”, they may fall in between. Such as acting more like a pre-teen or teenager. I write TK a lot like this because tbh, even in canon, he acts like a grumpy teen a lot. Same with Jackson and Alex in my Grey’s verses.

There are Little products and special stores. From cribs to clothes to pacifiers, even high chairs and baby food and formula that can sustain an older person. I have half a Little!Tyler Lockwood fic where he has a bouncer and swing.

Caregivers are naturally stronger than Littles, which is how they can carry them.

Littles have more difficulty with sensory than caregivers and neutrals.

There are probably more I can’t think of now.

“I didn’t tell him.” Oscar said, “But I’m happy he’s here.” Elsie, judging by the bleak expression on her face, was not. “El. Come on.” Her thumb traced over Rajan’s as Oscar traced over her knuckle, and sighed, looking up at the lights. She hated hospitals, Raj remembered her telling him, when they first met.

“Fine. He can stay.” Raj smiled as Elsie resigned to him being there, knowing that if he left he would just be thinking of her. It was such a strange thing to be ashamed of when over the past ten months she had seen him naked and prone (and he her) in several different ways. Her voice was horse.

“Are you allowed to drink?” He asked. She nodded. Grateful for the small things, as always, he pulled out a bottle of tea and poured a cup. “Drink this. It’ll make you feel better.”

“Is that a promise or a threat?” Oscar said, in the tone of voice he only used when they were alone. Raj helped Elsie sit up and laughed at his partners stupidity.

“Why can’t it be both?” He asked. Elsie took a drink and glared at them.

“You two are impossible.” She said. Her voice already sounded slightly better. She took another drink. Oscar shrugged.

“You chose us, El.” Raj laughed as Elsie squinted at him.

“Funny, I seem to remember you showing up at my door. What was it?” She pretended to think. “Oh, yes. You,” She looked at Oscar, “showed up at my bedroom door and begged me to have you.”

“I didn’t beg.”

Raj would not stand for that, but soon he was Elsie’s next victim.

“This one,” He rolled his eyes but kept smiling, “said he would give me everything you couldn’t. I said to Delia ‘He’s gonna last three weeks not kissing Oscar’, Delia disagreed.”

“How many did Delia say?” Oscar asked, genuinely curious, and Elsie let out a raspy laugh.

“I think she suggested locking you two in a room together and waiting. So does that sound like I chose you, or you both showed up at my door?” It was rhetorical, she could say the word and they’d both leave (though they wouldn’t be happy about it), and she kept them around. Raj kissed her temple and she melted into it. “I’ll be out of here soon.” She promised, holding both of their hands. “I swear.”

Of course!!! So in my fic Aegon survives but Alyssa still dies, which leaves Daemon and Aegon in the care of good queen Alysanne (same as Visenya when she is born a few years later) and they all grow up together, until Daemon marries Rhea in 97 AC and Visenya joins her father at court in 101 AC. Aegon was always sort of the most reasonable of the trio and while he absolutely loves and adores his brother and honorary little sister he really is a big introvert who had rather not get caught up in the intrigues of court and politics, so he stayed away even when he had wanted to marry Visenya and missed Daemon in the years they where apart. Aegon just sorta stayed on Dragonstone after his grandmothers passing in 100 AC and spend his free time traveling across the narrow sea on dragonback. He was only 3 and 10 when he and Daemon parted ways after the older wedding and by the time the brothers reunited Aegon had grown nearly a head and a half taller than the rogue prince and had come to be a man of hulking build in the way Targaryen men rarely were. Aegon had cut his hair short and worn unadorned clothes for the longest time as a young man, as he hoped it had made him look less Targaryen as he always felt he lacked the connection Daemon, Visenya and even Viserys had with their heritage, but by the time he returned from a longer stay in Braavos in 114 AC it had grown long enough to be worn in a pony tail again and Aegon refrained from cutting it again as his new found lover the son of the Sealord of Braavos, Galeo Materys, was quite found of it. In 114 AC Aegon came back to Westeros for the wedding of his younger niece, Rhaenyra, and ended up agreeing to his brother the kings offer to become a member of the small council, a position he would soon resign from after the death of his lover in Braavos at the hands of his own brother Daemon in the following year, an incident that would leave a deep slight on the brothers relationship for the years to come. Aegon left kings landing as well as Dragonstone and would never return. Visenyas sworn shield Ser Lyle Bracken had offered Aegon to make himself at home in his ancestral home, with the tall knights sister lady Barissa Bracken for company and though Aegon did not stay within the hospitality of the odd woman that was the lady of stone hedge for long his time in the Riverlands served to heal his broken heart as he found a friend and companion to many a feast or tourney in lady Myriame Blackwood, who was a maiden of 26 years, with raven black hair, a never wavering smile and eyes that seemed to dance with laughter at all times of the day. It was no surprise when the two announced their betrothal and married under the heart tree of raven tree hall where they would raise their daughters Alyssa and Rhae. If rumor is to be believed Alyssa would be taught in the dark arts of the north by her mothers grandmother old lady Ronna, while Rhae, drawn in by the secrets of her valyrian heritage would seek to master magic of fire and blood.
