genuinely i think it's important for adults, especially in the plague times, to play pretend in our day-to-day lives. when i rub my back down with tiger balm so i can sleep without pain, i imagine i am a valiant knight tending to an old injury i received from a dragon. when i go to the store to pick up eggs and milk, i am a lone cowboy riding into town on a mission. when i turn my collar up against the wind i am a femme fatale who's killed 4 husbands and is scoping out a 5th. when i stomp around in the snow i am a doomed polar explorer. if being a little bit silly about my walk to the pharmacy helps me remember that life can be full of joy and whimsy, then so be it.

Hi it's just to let you know that the official romanization of Revaan's name is Raverne ! Also they have romanized Baul's name to Baur !

I do like Raverne though, I think it's got a nice fancy sound to it! (I had kinda suspected it was going to be an R instead of an L, so the fact that it's SO close to Laverne except for that is hilarious to me personally.) and Dragoneye Duke is honestly probably the best translation for his title, I wasn't envying the localizers that one. :') Baur instead of Baul I was NOT expecting, but in retrospect I think his name's supposed to be a reference to the Bauru crocodile, so that actually makes way more sense!

someone else also said Meleanor has become Maleanor, which is the REALLY weird one to me, because I was so surprised it was written as Mel instead of Mal in the first place?! oh god no I can't decide which one I like better. 😭 (I wonder if they might change it to Mal...they have made romanization changes before) (like I remember House of Distraction being corrected to House of Destruction in Playful Land) (I did check and she's still Mel for now, but I dunno, they might Mal her up and some point and save me from having to make a decision about which one to use) (HECK I CAN'T DECIDE)

It's hard to look at this entry and not grieve the insecure woman I used to be who was full of much self-loathing. It wasn't mine or anyone's fault; it was just the way I was. I knew myself but didn't fully understand myself or why I did the things I did. I had pockets of joy but lived under this cloud of depression. I masked not only the comfort of others but also for my comfort. It's really sad and humbling to think about. I'm not saying I'm a constant rainbow of happiness and sunshine, but I'm way more honest with myself and everyone in my life. If people get scared of me or look at me like I'm crazy, oh well, I wasn't for them. We all have something like my coworker who was happy for me when I told her I got COVID. 🤣🤣🤣 Like the look of happiness on her face, you'd think I'd won the lottery. 🤣🤣🤣 Maybe as we get older, some of us really do get wiser and learn the art of living an authentic life, which leads to more of a contentment for life. Maybe I'm just saying this because I've been happy all day and filled with gratitude. I just know that I'm truly excited about who I've become and who I'm about to become, and I thank the past version of me for it. She was a true badass in dealing with a complicated personal life while being depressed. And she did with grace, well, most of the time. 🥰

Ohhh, I'm rereading Mystra's entry in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide... and this detail:

This means Gale was punished for trying to restore and preserve what he thought was a lost piece of Mystra's magic. Gale being Mystra's ex-lover put aside. He as her follower, she his goddess, was punished for attempting to do the one foundational rule of her faith.

I'm seething and so sad at the same time.

Edit: I used the word punish loosely, as in, toxic/abusive people will take any small mistake or action and twist it into something they can take advantage of. This post was also largely from the stand point of a toxic deity rather than a toxic partner, but both takes are valid here. Especially with the, “you didn’t stay compliant so now I’m giving you the silent treatment” part of it—from a god and a partner perspective.
