yknow what i'll say it. i know exactly why phan a/b/o does NOT hit a vast majority of the time. it's because most of it is alpha/omega. and that works for SOME pairings! but dan and phil's queerness is an essential part of them and their story.

alpha/omega pairings are normative in omegaverse settings! you have to get freaky and explorative within omegaverse worldbuilding to create something that resonates with who dan and phil actually are! but far too often a/b/o is an excuse to project normative gender and sexual roles on queer relationships. SAD!

Mad looked at himself in the mirror, hands on his lower belly before turning to see his side profile. He swore he could still see the swell of a time long gone.

He jumped when he heard noises in the connecting bedroom, quickly pulling his shirt down over his stomach and swallowing the sour taste in his mouth.

“Mad?” Mare’s voice was calm, concerned, and Mad sighed before opening the bathroom door to let the alpha in. “What are you doing in there, love?”

“Just… thinking,” Mad answered in a whisper, heart aching at the love he saw in Mare’s eyes. “Your rut’s coming up.” Mare’s usual rosin and polished wood scent had a hint of spice to it, the usual sign that his rut was near, and the way Mare’s eyes darted down before meeting his again proved him right.

“I was actually talking to Phan about that,” he confessed. “I needed his opinion as my twin.”

“About what?” He had a sour feeling he knew the answer.

“I was hoping to claim you during this rut,” Mare started to explain, eyes going wide when Mad’s knees suddenly buckled, rushing to catch him before the omega fell on the tiled floor. “Mad, what’s wrong?”

“I had a pup once,” Mad began slowly, voice soft, sitting beside Mare in their bed with a blanket around his shoulders. “I was—almost… I lost her. And the alpha—it was my fault. I-I lost… I can’t give you pups, Mare.” Shining tears fell from Mad’s eyes as he looked at Mare, bottom lip trembling to hold back sobs.

Mare just watched Mad, knowing there was more to say, and giving the omega time to form his sentences.

“After they found me lying in blood in the bed, they thought I’d—I was pulled out of bed and thrown onto the ground, and they kicked me until I blacked out. Doctors told me losing her had damaged what was inside me, and future pups wouldn’t attach. In all sense of the term, I’m infertile. Can’t have pups.”

“Why did my wanting to claim you make you collapse?” Mare asked quietly, brushing Mad’s hair out of his eyes.

“If you claim me, the next step is starting a family,” Mad started, voice shaking as he clutched at the blanket. “A-And I can’t give you a family. I can’t give you pups, even though you’d be a great father, and I just can’t—I can’t make you go through that pain because of me.”

“Mad.” Mare cupped Mad’s cheek, lifting his face to meet his gaze before giving him a soft smile. “I don’t care that you can’t have pups. I don’t care if we can’t have kids. I want you, all of you, even the parts you’re scared of. I want to claim you, mate you, knot you and just—I want to love you.” Leaning forward, he glanced down at Mad’s lips before closing the distance, kissing him with more tenderness than he’d ever given before.

“But—”

“You aren’t damaged beyond repair,” Mare continued, wiping Mad’s tears with his thumbs. “Learning about this doesn’t make me love you less. I still want you, Mad. I’ve always wanted you. Your broken parts are still part of you.”

Mad sniffled, gasping against Mare’s lips as fresh tears started falling, and he grabbed Mare’s shirt in both hands to pull him back into a fierce kiss, pouring everything he couldn’t say into the action. “Show me,” he whispered, pulling back to pull his shirt over his head. “Show me how you’ll love me.”

Mare hesitated a moment before running his hands over Mad’s chest, gently guiding him to lay back before parting his legs to settle between them. Slowly he traced his lips down Mad’s torso, paying special attention to the freckles around his nipples and hips, carefully working his pants and boxers down his legs.

“You’re so sweet,” he murmured, licking over Mad’s hipbones reverently. “And already so slick for me,” he added, swiping a finger along Mad’s hole to feel the slick. Lifting his hand to his mouth he made a show of cleaning his finger, then pressed it back inside Mad to hear his gasp.

“M-Mare…” Mad scrambled to clutch onto Mare’s upper arms, digging his fingers into the muscle before moving to grab the sheets as Mare leaned down to slip his cock into his mouth. “M-Mare, please…”

The alpha hummed around Mad, bobbing his head as he added another finger to stretch him, not waiting long before pressing a third inside. Mad’s whines were music to his ears, squirming against the mattress as one hand pulled his hair and the other tore into the bedsheets, hugging his legs around Mare’s chest to keep him close.

“How long did you carry her?” Mare asked, tracing patterns into Mad’s shoulder as the omega rested against him. They’d cleaned up and changed the sheets, and Mad had decided it was more comfortable to lay on top of Mare instead of beside him like usual.

Mad hesitated, hand halting in Mare’s hair before he closed his eyes with a deep breath. “Long enough that I could feel her roll over,” he answered softly, tucking his face into the juncture of Mare’s neck and shoulder. “Long enough to know I wasn’t bloating. Long enough.”

“There are other ways to have a family,” Mare stated after a while, resuming his tracing on Mad’s shoulder. “If you want a family, that is.”

“I’m happy to just have you,” Mad whispered, face still tucked in Mare’s neck, breath ghosting over his scent gland. “You make me feel… whole. Less broken. Real. Like everything before you was a bad dream.”

“She was real,” Mare rumbled, holding Mad close before rolling them over so he was laying on top. “I won’t let you forget that she was real, that you had something. I’ll never get to see you glowing like that, but I know that I’ll see you in other ways.” Mad was quiet, looking at Mare with glassy eyes, and the alpha kissed his forehead before rolling off him and closing his eyes.

“I love you, Mare.”

But Mare had fallen asleep, leaving Mad to cling to Mare’s shirt and the memories that continued to haunt him. He had Mare now, and he could survive without giving him a pup, but that wouldn’t take away from the fact that Mad did have a pup.

Because @chaeul asked me about the reverse harem, I can tell about that story a bit. To be honest, I have no idea if there's anything I haven't told you about it, lovie, but I'm sure I can find some interesting fun facts.

Reverse Harem is an AU of Love in the Air, mostly named like that because my idea was that omegas are the ones who have harems, unlike alphas like in many stories. That's why omega Rain, who is also a prince in this story, will have his harem that includes Phayu, Pai and Sky (all three of them are alphas).

Because my brain loves complicating, or well overcomplicating, my universes that I make writing, the story idea grew. From just ot4 story, another 4 love stories are added into the mix and they're all going to be developed relatively paralelly.

The second storyline that I added is Chai/Heam/Saifah - mostly because I couldn't make a decision whether I'll keep Saifah's canon gf or if I do the ghostship that I very enjoy. It ended up as both, and a poly story for them, and it's one of my favorite things in the story, because I haven't done this anywhere else.

Then, I decided to add another of my beloved ghostships from LITA, and that's Phan/Ple. The girls are very dear for me, so I wanted to give them a story of their own. And because I couldn't simply include just one of Pai's siblings, without including the other one of them, I added Plerng/Sin, another canon pairing (they have their own book that's not translated in english).

In the end, I added Sig/Som as the pairing, because it felt right to add them and give some balance to the other characters.

After that, I just simply needed to balance all the stories, to give them all a uniqueness because I didn't want to make them all one and the same - as they're not one and the same, each character is different, and for some I have limited informations, but I am doing my best to develop them all in the best way possible.

Reverse harem is currently being written, and it's one of the favorite stories I'm writing.
