I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I've recently gotten really into Planet Zoo and have decided to try and build and Australian themed zoo inside the map of Australia.

(Sadly this is the earliest screen cap I took. What you can see are some rough habitat boundaries, but we'll get to all that later)

❄️ It's February 27, International Polar Bear Day!

❄️ International Polar Bear Day is celebrated every year on February 27th to raise awareness of the current state of polar bear conservation. As stewards of this planet, it's our responsibility to protect all Arctic animals and preserve their delicate ecosystem for future generations.

Polar bears are one of the most iconic symbols of the Arctic, known for their strength, beauty, and adaptability to extreme cold environments. However, climate change is presenting them with numerous challenges. The melting sea ice caused by rising temperatures is shrinking their habitat and reducing their access to prey.

What immediate actions can we take to protect our polar bears and preserve what’s left of their fragile Arctic ecosystem? We can support specific polar bear conservation organizations such as Polar Bears International and the World Wildlife Fund's Arctic Program. These organizations work tirelessly to research and implement strategies for polar bear conservation.

We can also support specific climate change prevention organizations like 350.org and the Sierra Club, who are dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating the impacts of global warming on polar bears and their habitats.

Organizations such as Conservation International and the Nature Conservancy focus on conserving biodiversity worldwide, including fragile ecosystems like in the Arctic.

By supporting organizations focused on polar bear conservation, climate change prevention, and biodiversity preservation, we can make a positive impact on protecting our beloved polar bears and preserving the delicate Arctic ecosystem for generations to come. yk how earth has a sound around the planet right? and so does the other planets and whatever well for my planet it’ll have like a soft beat around it! (maybe a soft fairy-ish sound idk how to explain it)

my planet is the 4th planet from the sun

magic exists heavily in that world but its controlled magic

time does not exist in regards to my post here where i said everyone is immortal

SOME animals can talk (cats, dogs, foxes, sea lions, penguins, bears, elephants and wolves and bunnies)

ocean animals are friendly to humans (that is unless you disturb them or try to kill them)

the species that exist in this world are called “Liminoids” (get it..? “limi” as in like “limitless?” no? just me?☹️)

yes cars and planes exist but they run solely on like magic energy so it doesn’t ruin the planet

zoo’s will not exist in this world every animal lives in healthy environment thats immune to damage

even though i said time doesn’t exist this planet will traditionally celebrate something similar to new years but instead of like “yayy 365 days has passed!!” no we’ll be celebrating the life this planet has given us and we’ll all do something good to the planet as thankfulness. the fireworks will be used from magic!

the planet is free from any type of universal damage

everyone in this world is born with an element but that element won’t activate until the age of 16 (immortality again, people can still age by numbers but their body will not change. they will still look like a person in their 20s people can select their age here whenever they turn 18)

foods here will not make people overweight or obese (you can gain muscle)

instead of regular hair colors people in this world are born with various colors or 1 color

(im still thinking about it) maybe i’ll add like a special machine to where the people in this planet would maybe like to travel to earth! (they would be given procedures to keep their identity safe)

every country is ran by a healthy, stable SMART and fair monarch. (people still have freedom and equality its just to maintain world order)

cheating isn’t allowed in this planet, if found out; a persons partner is given 2 options. 1 remove this persons immorality and sentence them to death or 2 forever punishment

theres a big dome where certain countries come to entertain other countries with cool events

alsooo if you guys wanna shift to test it out then you can! you’re only given 7 hours though. you’ll be granted a little watch that has a timer. and you can only visit this place 4 times! please be respectful there though. its still in progress! here are some pictures to what the planet looks like from being on it! Happy Saturday everyone!

I meant to upload last night, but unfortunately the evening very quickly got away from me. I had a super busy week, and between work, baking, training, and general socialising it all felt like one never-ending day.

I gave a presentation about my project this week and absolutely smashed it. Literally the most confident I have ever presented and the best I have ever answered questions. I did so well that my supervisor, who is not one for praise, messaged me to tell me I had done well. This has been such a massive reassurance that I know my topic and I know what I'm talking about, and it's such a relief to see I'm making progress and not panicking nearly as much when I get to the questions at the end of a talk. I also received feedback on my upgrade report and I'm going to spend some time this weekend and on Monday fixing everything before sending it to my supervisor. I've officially started the process of fixing a date for my upgrade which has given me quite the wave of anxiety to deal with but I know I can handle it and I'm excited to finally get this over and done with.

The next few days are going to be busy busy but I'm going on a weekend away to Amsterdam on Thursday so I want to get a lot of stuff done before then and ease my mind a little. I truly do have a habit of giving myself a million things to do right before a trip...

Oh! And I did really well with my training this week. Week 2 is over, and no pain this time so I could successfully complete my whole plan. I feel very proud of myself, and although I'm a little frustrated that I won't be able to work out as much next week I know I'll pick it right back up when I return.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Please remember to relax a little and allow your brain the downtime it deserves. We are not machines, we were made to live, laugh, enjoy and explore. Take care of yourselves.

Planet Zoo (George Clarkey Imagine)

The soft hum of computer fans filled the cozy living room, the muted glow of a ring light bouncing off pale yellow walls. You tucked a strand of dark hair behind your ear and adjusted your flannel shirt, your signature look for your streaming channel.  Today was no ordinary livestream. You had a special guest joining you today, the most highly requested guest.

"Alright, guys, you’ve been asking for collabs, and I’ve finally delivered," you began, grinning at the camera. "I’m here with none other than the man, the myth, the legend… George Clarke!"

George, seated in his bedroom with his headphones on, gave an exaggerated bow, his boyish grin lighting up the room. "Hey, everyone! Thanks for having me, Y/N. I’ve been a fan of your channel for ages."

You raised a skeptical eyebrow. "A fan, huh? Name one video of mine that you’ve watched."

George hesitated, his cheeks flushing pink. "Uh, the one where you tried to bake that… thing."

You burst out laughing. "Wow. 'That thing'? Great save."

"It was a cake!" he protested, leaning away from his camera in mock defense. "And, to be fair, it looked delicious, even if it collapsed halfway through."

"Nice recovery," you teased. The playful banter earned a wave of heart emojis from the live chat visible on your screen.

The two of you had met briefly at a sidemen shoot months ago. The exchange had been fleeting but enough to spark a connection. When George’s team reached out about a collaboration, you had jumped at the chance. Now, streaming with him, you wondered if this was professional admiration or something else entirely.

"So, what’s the plan for today?" George asked, settling into his seat. His relaxed posture contrasted with the nervous energy buzzing in your chest.

"We’re playing Planet Zoo!" you announced, her excitement evident. "It’s a zoo-building simulator, and I figured we’d see who can create the most ridiculous zoo in an hour."

George chuckled, his eyes sparkling. "Ridiculous zoos? That’s my specialty. But I have to warn you—I take gaming very seriously."

"Oh, I’m counting on it," you said, your grin widening. "We’ll let the chat vote on the winner."

We both booted up the game, and the livestream screen displayed a split view of their respective zoos-in-progress. The chat exploded with enthusiasm:

"George is already planning chaos, I can feel it." "Y/N better watch out. George is sneaky!" "This is the collab we didn’t know we needed."

As we played, the banter flowed effortlessly. George decided to fill his zoo with entirely carnivores, creating a chaotic mess of lions and tigers escaping enclosures. Meanwhile, you focused on making the world’s cutest penguin habitat, complete with tiny waterfalls and ice slides.

"What is that?" you asked, squinting at George’s screen. "Is that a loose crocodile?"

"It’s called natural selection," George replied, deadpan. "Guests love an interactive experience."

You laughed so hard you nearly spilled your drink. "Interactive? They’re running for their lives!"

The chat erupted:

"George is unhinged, and I’m here for it!" "Y/N’s penguins are the only safe haven in this madness." "This is the best livestream ever."

As the timer counted down, you glanced at George’s screen again and gasped. "Did you name a tiger after me?"

George grinned. "Yup. Y/N the Tiger. Fierce, unpredictable, and terrifying."

You laughed but couldn’t help but blush a little. "That’s… surprisingly flattering." You tried to ignore the wild speculation from the chat about George being flirty. 

“Is it just me or is george tryna to flirt with our girl?” “Y/N is blushing so hard rn omg” “i think i ship this?” 

When the hour ended, we toured each other’s zoos. George’s was an apocalyptic nightmare of escaped predators and terrified guests, while yours was a serene, picturesque haven. The chat cast their votes, declaring you the winner by a landslide.

"Victory tastes sweet," you teased, doing a little celebratory dance in her seat.

"You earned it," George admitted, holding up his hands in defeat. "But next time, I’m coming for the crown."

The livestream eventually wore down and you ended the stream, leaving just you and George.. She noticed that the playful energy shifted into something softer. "Thanks for doing this," you said, your voice warm. "I had a blast."

"Me too," George replied, his tone sincere. "We should do it again sometime. Maybe off-camera?"

Your breath hitched, and you couldn’t hide your shy smile. "Yeah. I’d like that."

Your heart was still racing from the way George had looked at you, and you couldn’t shake the feeling that this collaboration was just the beginning of something special.

by its very nature, a relationship with any of the diamonds is going to be very unusual because of just how strict and isolating the hierarchy in gem society is — this means that it’s going to take blue diamond quite a while to break out of her old mindset and learn how to be a good partner for you

earlier on in your courtship blue’s behaviour towards you ends up coming across as condescending and patronising more often than not, even though that’s far from her intention — she’s overprotective, somewhat dismissive of your feelings, oversimplifies her explanations when she does talk about her responsibilities, refuses to let you go about your life without at least a pearl and a few guard gems accompanying you, and she looks at you like you’re an adorable little oddity rather than her lover

so while her intention is to keep you safe, entertained, and to not bog you down with all the stresses she’s facing with her colonies, she accidentally ends up making you feel like her helpless inferior or a passing fancy of hers which… isn’t great — if you sit her down and have a proper discussion about this and explain your perspective to her then she will correct herself moving forward (she does love you, after all), but if left to her own devices she will continue doing what she’s used to as a diamond and she won’t pick up on your discomfort unless one of the gems assigned to your care brings it up to her

won’t use pet names on her own (aside from adding a ‘my’ in front of your name out of respect), but is extremely receptive to any pet names you have for her — bonus points if it’s something ‘cute’ sounding like ‘love’, ‘sweetheart’, ‘baby’, and so on, but really she’ll respond to anything that you call her as long as it’s not… you know… derogatory

quality time is a big thing for her and she insists on spending as much time with you as possible — like she can just be sitting in her palanquin or overseeing some dull data relating to the progress of her colonies and she’ll insist on you perching yourself on her shoulder or lap and doing whatever you need to do from there (you two don’t even need to talk to each other during these times, just knowing you’re with her at all is enough for her)

she’s extremely generous and will gift you any and everything she can if she thinks it will make you smile: colonies, resources, personalised gems to serve you, a larger home, trips to other planets, ornate accessories, beautiful clothing, etc. — if she gets the slightest hint that you might like something then she’s sending lower ranked gems out to fetch it on her behalf

blue is the most physically affectionate of the remaining diamonds and isn’t the sort to shy away from kissing or just holding you close to her as she goes about her business (she’s much too large to, say, actually hold your hand or spoon you but she does what she can) — of course during formal public appearances with her fellow diamonds she’s going to be more inclined to limit herself to just keeping you close, but otherwise she doesn’t care who sees her fawning over you because she loves you that much

whenever you’re ill or injured and she’s unable to take the time to see you in person, she sends her pearl to keep you entertained and oversee your care in her absence — and, rest assured, blue pearl has been very well educated on how to look after you and anticipate your needs so you’re in great hands

if you have a fondness for the organic life on one of her colonies then she’s more than happy to have your own zoo constructed so that you can safely observe and engage with it without putting yourself at risk by setting foot on the actual planet — she might not ‘get’ why you like it, but she’ll do whatever you ask her to without complaint

PaleoPines is objectively fun

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is surprisingly good (and accuracy mods are a must)

Prehistoric Kingdom has a problematic past (but it's not like the other two don't), but it's shaping up to be a great game too (it's still in progress)

If we're including birds, which of course we should, Planet Zoo is... well, there are more birds now then there used to be. And mods add even more!!! I'm big on modding games what can I say.

We are friends now and what is american werewolf in london?

Well anyone who asks about an american werewolf in london is a friend of mine!!!

an american werewolf in london is a 1981 horror comedy directed by john landis and starring david naughton, griffin dunne, and jenny agutter. it is one of my favorite movies of all time and here is why.

1 - it’s a werewolf movie. idk about you guys but i’m a sucker for a dog motif, so when it graduated to a werewolf motif im even more interested. it’s about the repressed desires. it’s about being liked for who they Think you are. it’s about the queer theming. it’s about the I like wolves and think they look cool

2 - griffin dunne is in it. i like him a lot in this movie but i think he KILLS in after hours (1985, dir. scorsese). and frank oz is in this movie. i like him just fine in this but he KILLS as yoda. and miss piggy. and fozzie bear. and sam eagle. and animal. oh and miss piggy’s in the movie too. briefly. alongside kermit. they’re credited as themselves though.

3. it’s so funny. like. the comedic timing is pretty damn solid, and they do whatever the fuck they want with the story. frankly it gets insane fairly often (eg. david loose and naked in the zoo) and has plenty of one liners or quick shocks that i personally find very funny. and the chemistry between dunne and naughton is great they play off of each other really well.

4. it’s also pretty effective as a horror movie!! of course it leans on comedy and is a little over the top to be actually frightening most of the time, but the visceral pain of the transformation sequence, price’s agonized sobs at the end, and Dear God The Subway Sequence. are genuinely good and Serious bits of filmmaking that balance out the comedy. jesus the subway sequence is so good it would even work as a standalone horror short imo i just love the way it captures the feeling of being chased.

5 - The fuckign. effects. this is my actual number one reason but it’s going to be the longest so i put it last i’m trying to restrain myself but i can’t do it they’re simply too good. they’re done by rick baker (my absolute FAV vfx artist!!!), completely practical, and honestly stunning. the werewolf transformation sequence in this scene is some of his most iconic work, but if you haven’t seen it, you might recognize some other stuff he’s done, such as planet of the apes (2001), men in black 1-3, how the grinch stole christmas (2000), star wars (he did the cantina band!) and empire strikes back, videodrome… or…. Micheal Jackson’s hit music video for his awesome song Thriller!! he hired baker and landis right off of this movie to do his music video because he liked the effects so much. which is real as fuck. anyways, i really do think rick baker is at his best in this movie. like Got damn. obviously, as aforementioned, the transformation sequence is damn good. but what really knocks MY socks off is the makeup for jack. you’ll see if you watch the movie, but there’s a really cool progression from fresh corpse -> fully decaying zombie that happens, and it’s expertly done. they even used a puppet for his final form and it is So good. i also really like the werewolf design once it’s done transforming. it’s wolf LIKE but it’s not a wolf and it’s not a man either (i’m not a huge fan of wolfman designs that are mostly just a dude.) and, while it’s kind of locked in a permanent snarl for most of the scenes we see it in, it still has just enough range of expression to really Hit emotionally at the end. Fuck. and there’s so much blood and gore it’s over the top gross nasty but so fun. they did not pull any punches especially with jack’s makeup and it’s awesome. i strive to be as good as rick baker at practical effects someday.

and that’s my quick rundown and explanation and pitch for why you should watch it. there’s sex, there’s attempted suicide, there’s swearing (one homophobic slur but tbh he can reclaim) and there’s brief full frontal nudity. but it is everything to me. thanks for listening Goodnight

Fixing the enclosure size problems...

I built this crescent habitat off the side of the main circle for the swans

And the seals get a giant circle enclosure, same size as the entry circle - just for them ❤️

ahoy, rats. I was hoping to have had chapter 4 out by now, but I got hit by the triple whammy of busy, sick, and obsessed with a video game. i may or may not now have almost 100 hours in planet zoo

anyway the real problem being that I pretty much got stuck. but never fear, I made the executive decision to put chapter 4 in a blender and cannibalize it for parts. I essentially changed the entire flow of the chapter and definitely made it more complicated, but hopefully it's for the better. now i'm just putting it back together like a soggy jigsaw puzzle

I initially deleted ~30,000 words, and I'm almost back up to that point. let's just hope I can focus and not have my eyes slide right off the screen like i've been brainwashed to ignore it ✌

Good morning everyone!

Gosh, what a start to the week it has been already. I had a relatively chill weekend, enjoying the peace of my apartment with my boyfriend and baking treats for my D&D group. I also dedicated some more time to embroidery to help me unwind while watching a documentary on deep sea fish. I'm so happy to be well enough to partake in my favourite hobbies again.

Yesterday was quite busy. I spent two hours practicing my presentation for tomorrow's seminar, which left my throat very dry but at least today I feel very ready as I go over it some more, then went in the lab to take care of some cell lines and spent what was left of the day going over T cell maturation. I realised the other day I'd forgotten basically everything! While I'm not mad at myself for that, I think it's going to be so important throughout my PhD to ensure I maintain a detailed understanding of all the processes that underlie my work, even if they don't feel directly related to what I'm doing.

I also got myself back into the gym last night! This feels quite weird for me to say, but I was very excited to go. I genuinely looked forward to it the whole day, which I didn't think was even possible. I was so proud by the time I finished, and I'm really excited to see how I continue to progress over the next few weeks!

I hope everyone has had a lovely start to their week. Try to challenge yourself with something new this week, you never know what could happen...

Time for some Planet Zoo spam, MWAHAHAH!

I actually started over. I fucked up my first attempt by not planning like I should have and everything was off-grid, which makes building that much harder, and the paths were a confused mess because of my lack of planning, and...Yeah. Always have a plan for at least the initial layout of a zoo.

So I started over. Just with red pandas to start this time. So have some pics of them that I snapped at various times while working on their habitat.

Habitat's still not done because, honestly, for me they are eternal works-in-progress. Never truly done. But, I love building them and working on them and improving them, so that's OK.

The female panda is pregnant, too, so soon there will be adorable little babbies! 💓💓💓
