Lunian microlabels that I coined!

Lunian is an umbrella term for mspec lesbians, but that can mean different things to different people. Since the lunian flag and name were based off of the moon and the sea, I've created 6 tidal-based flags for different experiences! I will be creating bi/pan/poly/omni/abro variants too! Flags based on Kenochoric's Lunian flag!

#1: Full-Moon Springtide Lunian

Meaning: A lunian who considers themselves lunian because they're attracted to multiple genders that are considered part of lesbian attraction! Ex: wlw and wlnb. I, OP, am a Full-moon springtide lunian!

#2: First-Quarter Neaptide Lunian

Meaning: A lunian who considers themselves lunian because they are mspec, but their attraction to genders considered part of lesbian attraction is much greater than their attraction to other genders, and as such they feel somewhere in between mspec and lesbian; using lunian as an alternative to homoflexible or lesbiflexible

#3: New-Moon Springtide Lunian

Meaning: A lunian who considers themselves lunian because they use the split attraction model, and are lesbian in one form of attraction and mspec in another.

#4: Third-Quarter Neaptide Lunian

Meaning: A lunian who considers themselves lunian because they are mspec, and are reclaiming the historical definition of lesbian!

#5: Tidalphasic Lunian

Meaning: A lunian who's reason for identifying as lunian is fluid and changes. They go through the many phases of possibilities just like the moon and tide!

#6: Midtide Lunian

Meaning: A lunian who's experience as a lunian was not covered by this post, or a lunian who's experience as a lunian is a mix of the labels here. You are all valid lunians but I don't know every way to be a lunian! Just like the tide, lunian experiences aren't rigid and there are times you are in between two.

Welcome to Unhinged Hours, a series of posts that will be tagged as such in which I will overshare my cringiest and most awkward thoughts because I've no self-control over my need to vent. And who knows. Might help someone else.

When I was 17-19, I was mortified to discover I was attracted to (much) older people. During my early twenties, the majority of my crushes were in their thirties. I knew the age gap was too big and I was too young, so I did nothing about them and naively thought this was something that would fix itself with time. I thought "at least I know I find people in their thirties attractive so I just have to wait to reach mine and date people my age then" (lmao good one past me). Well. As I'm inching ever closer to said thirties, it's more and more evident that the issue clearly did NOT fix itself, those old crushes are nearing their forties and I haven't stopped carrying them in my heart. They're attractive in new ways. When I look at pics from back when I first developed a crush, I find that my current 27yo self isn't physically attracted to their 32yo self I was originally attracted to anymore. And I know for a fact that 21yo me wouldn't have found 38yo [redacted] hot. But current me is still attracted to current them (38yo [redacted] is indeed very hot). And you might wonder what's the issue here, so lemme tell you. I've been frequenting online feminist spaces for a decade. I've read countless accounts of teenage girls and young women who were manipulated and abused by older partners. I've read an inordinate amount of warnings, the gist of all of them being “don't date older folks during your formative years, don't believe them when they call you 'mature for your age'”. And let me be crystal clear — I still think it's relevant and infinitely important to relay those accounts and protect girls and young women, and help them spot red flags and predatory patterns. It absolutely is, I am not blaming feminism for my existential struggles. I am simply giving you context. The thing is, I've internalised this as “don't ever pursue older folks, period” (which is a completely different thing, I knew that then and still know it now but couldn't help it) and as a result I've been lugging around self-inflicted guilt and shame for years (and don't I love the internalised biphobia that adds to it when the person happens to be a man /s). And these crushes I've been telling you about? They're one-sided! They've never expressed any interest, so that's always been a safe situation for me, but did that prevent any self-loathing from taking root in my brain? Course it didn't! I can't seem to shake the feeling that there's something wrong with me and I've grown tired of this. Scolding myself over human emotions is getting fucking old.

That brings me to today's crisis — at which point in one's life does it get easier to accept? How old is old enough to stop caring about the age gap? When will I stop blaming myself? How do I drop the guilt?

Because if it was "just" the fact that I'm still swooning over the same people (who are now soon-to-be 40), that would be too easy, wouldn't it? But nooo I just had to go and get a new crush on someone who's already in their forties. Where does this end, please?

(You might've noticed that the overuse of the word 'crush' and choosing to focus on the physical aspect of attraction here is a poor attempt at a euphemism. I mean some of them are simple crushes, as for the others... past a certain point, still calling them crushes is just denial on my part. I'm basically fooling myself.)

Imagine you and Helena being the only ones who can calm Rudolph down

It wasn’t hard for someone to anger Rudolph. He wasn’t the most patient man in the world and his temper could use some improvement. But the most surefire way to earn his ire was someone messing around with you and Helena. It didn’t matter if it was something as small as accidentally glaring at either one of you or something more serious like harassment, anything that could be deemed a slight toward either one of you had Rudolph raring to protect your honor.

But as much as you and Helena appreciated his protectiveness, it did not look good that the esteemed Count Andrenyi kept finding himself in scuffles. Especially when they were publicized for all to read and gossip about for the next few weeks. It is why the two of you had taken the part of mediator and peacemaker whenever the occasion arose.

Just like now.

The three of you had been eating at a quiet and quaint cafe. Having been seated at the patio, you had all expected a peaceful brunch where you could enjoy some delicious pastries and drinks together before Rudolph had to begin rehearsals for an upcoming show when a white light erupted in front of your eyes, blinding all three of you.

Reacting despite the confusion, you pulled Helena's chair closer to you and raised a hand to block the light from her face as she buried her face in your chest. Rudolph's chair harshly skids on the ground as he stood up, turning to block the two of you from the camera's view and to face the photographer. Without missing a step, he is over the small fence separating the cafe from the streets and smacks the photographer's camera to the ground. Before the other man can even protest, your partner already has pushed the man back causing the latter to stumble and fall on the ground. Then before he can even get up and catch a breath, Rudolph curls his hand into a fist and starts punching the man's face, not letting the man even try to retaliate.

Despite this having become a recurring occurrence, it still shocks you to see Rudolph get into fights as you stared wide-eyed, worried that he was going to get himself hurt.

But it's Helena who snaps you out of it. Slowly lifting her head, she raises a hand and places it on your cheek, catching your attention. Meeting her eyes, she tells you softly, "We have to stop him."

Standing from her seat, she waits for you to do the same. You pull out your wallet and put enough money down for all of your meals and a nice tip before letting Helena takes your hand and guide you to your partner.

"Rudolph." Though her voice is soft and not even above a whisper, it's somehow loud enough to be heard by the count who stops and turns to look at the both of you, instantly forgetting about the photographer.

You both walk toward him and he quickly straightens up and drops the man from his hold. When you both reach him, he takes each of you by the hand and kisses the palm of your guys' hand, first Helena and then you. Lowering his hand, he looks at you as you speak, totally enraptured by you, almost as if you're the answer to every question he has ever asked. "Let's go home."

uh, i guess bakura? though i think that's just because he's my favorite and i like imagining his relationships (of any kind) with other characters in general.

wishshipping is absolutely adorable and i love it but i tend to imagine them in a "the best big/little brother they never had" dynamic.

i also feel this way about buddyshipping. are they married? yes. are they dating? not really. they're platonic-married.

i have considered jonouchi/bakura/honda/otogi plenty of times, even though [see previous bit about buddyshipping].

i'm not yet sure if i ship it but i have also considered yugi/anzu/seto. mostly i just have a hard time shipping seto at all outside of prideshipping (which i guess answers question 12 in the meme); i imagine him as the willingly single guy who'd really like for all these bozos to stop making out already, oh my god you're all disgusting but is also totally not pining for a guy who's been dead for thousands of years u gaiz. I've created a really cool new term y'all may I present...

Triple Pointed!

Triple Pointed is a term for a nonbinary person who is attracted, exclusively or nonexclusively, to men, women, and other nonbinary people, and identifies as an aquarian (mspec enbian), vaporic (mspec trixic), and icilic (mspec toric). The term was named for the triple point, a temperature and pressure combination that allows for all 3 states of a substance to coexist.
