Ki-Adi : Bacara is a very competent bird-watcher. I have understood that Ponds is fascinated by reptiles and amphibians but generally likes to exercise himself at wildlife photography. 

Stass : Neyo told me that Ponds started his courting by sending a holo of a gecko to Bacara. It had become their thing since then :D

Stass : @All both Commanders are missing their shared breakfasts in the Temple by the way. We need to give a well-earned leave to the marines stat. 

Ki-Adi : it would be greatly appreciated indeed. I haven't seen Commander Bacara this happy and relaxed in well past a month.

Stass : oh, so Commander Cody really does not know about it ? Neyo had his suspicions that the rest of their batchers hadn't caught up but I still believed it was too big to be true…

Day 30- Angry Kisses

Ponds/Bacara

Each day this month I have a 100 word drabble featuring a different clone with a kiss prompt. Not all are romantic and they include all sorts of pairings and relationships. Feel free to offer pairing/ character suggestions for future days.

Ponds knew Bacara would be angry but he hadn't expected him to be this angry. Okay so maybe Bacara could hold a grudge as well as the Prime but Ponds had acted in everyone's best interests by having Boba help him fake his death. It gave him the freedom to research the chips he had noticed and between him, Boba, and Fox they were able to dechip the Coruscant Guard and kill the sith lord all at once.

When he finally was able to see Bacara in person he expected the angry biting kiss but the tears broke his heart.

The Commanders After Spending One Rotation In Fox's Position:

Gree: He just gives Fox a hug to make up for the last few years.

Cody: He manages to hold himself together until he can lock himself in a fresher...where he sobs loudly.

Ponds: He doesn't realize the office isn't completely soundproof, so everyone can hear his frustrated screaming throughout the day and right before he leaves.

Wolffe: He punches a wall until someone opens his (Fox's) office door.

Bly: He lasts three hours before he hurries away, saying something about needing to find Aayla.

Bacara: He walks out of it like it was another day on the frontline--but he's going to name every kill he gets in the future after the people he dealt with in Fox's position.

Bonus Captain:

Rex: "...I shot the chancellor."

Cody: "YOU WHAT!?"

Fox: "...You were always my favorite, Rex."

I would love to see a fic where Kal Skirata and his associates meet the Command Batch. (I'll write it myself. Eventually.)

The second Kal -- or any of them, actually, said something along the lines of, oh, I don't know, "Must be hard, working with a bunch a baby-stealers" or more Jedi-bashing shit like that, we all know how they'd react.

Cody: Listens for a moment, then politely sets off a riot.

Rex: "Okay, bitch, get over here."

Wolffe: There's a mass murder. How dare you insult his father?

Doom: Hits the speaker in the groin.

Neyo: "First off, FUCK YOU--"

Fox: "I want a Jedi! I don't give a fuck if they're baby-stealers, I need one!"

Bly: Strangles the speaker.

Bacara: He lets them talk for a while, laughs hysterically, and beats the shit out of them with his helmet. The only one allowed to be an acidic bastard toward his Jedi is him, goddammit! (If Ki-Adi is watching, he's touched by his Commander's display of affection.)

Gree: Proceeds to rip their reasoning apart with detailed fact-checking and citations. He has a slide show with dancing graphics.

Ponds: Gives them the glare his General gives to particularly enraging Separatists.

Monnk: Raises his middle fingers. Then he raises his middle toes.

Currently reading a lot of Coruscant Guard fics

What if upon receiving info about their assigned positions the whole command batch came up with a strategy of regularly switching posts while on Coruscant.

Initially it's to provide cover for the expected medical emergencies (because Coruscant is safe) or if they'll be in need of different talents for specific long-term missions. Cause even after receiving the same standard training, all of them have specialized in different areas. Not enough to be noticed by outsiders since the batchers know how to secretly provide info and apply eachother's shared knowledge immediately.

Of course it doesn't work out because:

- Some Jedi unexpectedly pay way more attention to their commanders and men. General Kenobi spots Cody in the mess and goes to sit at the same table. Even when the clones switch around he recognizes everyone instantly, so Cody is staying on The Negotiator permanently. One of the best things coming out of this is the opportunity to meet up with Captain Rex and the 501st

- Wolffe sustains an injury that they won't be able to cover like they usually do with other tattoos or scars and after losing almost all of the 104th decides to stay and rebuild his battalion with a very protective General Koon

- Ponds is finds himself suddenly taking over responsibility for the most feral kid in the galaxy. He sometimes wonders if Boba distracting Sing before she could actually shoot him was an elaborate ploy to get a better chance to kill General Windu himself or if the boy actually cared about his not-brothers (Boba cares a lot)

- Bly cannot for the life of him stand motionless during another debate in the Senate without going crazy cause he just cares too much about every honest voice being silenced by corruption and greed. His general also seems to watch him closer than others do and he takes the chance to try to learn more about the war efforts from the perspective of the Jedi council

- Bacara, Monnk, Gree and Neyo are on missions taking them to the other side of the galaxy, so far away that they barely make it back to Coruscant. They can't even enter the batchers' secret communication channels most of the times

- Which leaves Fox to become the "permanent" Marshall Commander of the Corries. He guesses it's only fair because more than half of the awards and decorations on the wall of the office were rewarded for his actions. The other half are mostly thanks to Thorn and Bacara being reckless but highly competent idiots

- Thire, Stone and Thorn joke they got stuck with the most uptight of the batch but later realize that Fox strict approach is keeping their men relatively safe. Cause Fox realized very quickly that Coruscant is in fact not safe

- Everyone else takes a whole lot longer to catch on to the not so subtle dangers stretching their claws from the very inside of the Republic's heart, especially with the Guard starting to drift apart from the GAR silently. It takes the CMOs meeting and drinking too much moonshine to finally connect the dots of why the communication lines went mostly dead

- Cody immediately starts strategizing for escape scenarios and researches uninhibited planets. He needs to survive any possible scenario so he can reunite his brothers. His general notices. Rex does as well

- Wolffe is furious and the wolfpack starts finishing their rescue missions in record time to get to the homefront as quickly as possible. He stops drinking alone like he sometimes did and starts accompanying all of his actions with softer words than usual. His general notices

- Ponds is shocked and starts taking to the shinys more. He also asks Boba about his point of view cause the boy definitely notices things a grown man doesn't. He starts sending regular updates about the developments of the general public's moods and tries to find ways to engage in a positive way with the natborns to bring attention to the men fighting a war for them. His general notices

- Bly is sad and starts reading up on all political and especially civil rights debates he can get his hands on. His general notices and asks her master if he has more intel on current developments in all parts of the galaxy. General Vos hasn't been on Coruscant since the start of the second year of war but draws the conclusion he should dig deeper into the heart of the republic

- Bacara is seething and keeps perfecting his already optimized battle plans. The marines train to annihilate droids by hand. He also keeps stocking up on medical equipment. His general doesn't notice

- Neyo doesn't acknowledge feeling anything. He starts tinkering again. He's looking for ways to design communication and transportation devices from all the droid scrap they usually leave behind on the battlefield. He even learns Jawaese. His general doesn't notice

- Monnk and Gree are determined. They comm eachother and start researching on how to survive long term in unknown environments and writing guides on how to identify edibles plants, safe water supplies, how to test for breathable atmosphere and which species like to live in symbiotic or peaceful ways with humanoids. They mask it as personal interest. Their generals notice

- Fox is panicking. He needs to find a new way to keep Hound from being decommissioned for Grizzer peeing in front of a senator's door the second after a natborn noticed their carefully crafted loop hole to switch designations of fallen brothers for the ones they could still save in the official documentations the Guard issues. He hasn't slept or eaten in two days as his comm blinks with the notification of a General striding through the Guard's front door like he belonged among the Corries. He has no time to deal with whatever the Jedi council wants from them but Thire is already on the brink of breaking down scanning data pads for a new loop hole so he grabs his helmet and runs to stop the force user from asking his questions at the wrong time. Not-his general notices

No idea for an actual plot. Just wanted to think about some hurt/comfort and competent clone commanders being brothers before being soldiers

green words are ones I took directly from the mando'a dictionary, yellow words are technically non-canon but are basically real words, orange are words I made up that could probably be real words, and red ones are the ones I just mashed words together and they don't always make the most sense

I'm taking constructive criticism on some of these names! If you have a better mando'a name for a character (esp. one w a red name) I'd be happy to hear it!

Since we could always use more Clone stuffs, how bout I go through some clone names and we can all find (or have a nice review) of who got what name and what it means.

COMMANDER CODY The first named clone trooper, and the first unique clone onscreen as of Revenge of the Sith. So its only fitting we start with him. The name "Cody" originated as O'Cuidightheach, a gaelic name, and effectively, it means "Helpful" or "Helpful Person" Cody, out of universe, got his name based on old movies of Commando Cody--of which, Lucas was a fan of. In the extended Star Wars universe, Cody is a Republicized variant of the Mando'a word "Kote", which means Glory.

CAPTAIN REX Rex's name means "King" in latin. It can also refer to the Dinosaur, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. And it is also a common name for pet Dogs. Take that as you will.

LIEUTENANT JESSE Another shockingly ordinary name, and a Hebrew derived name. Coming from Ancient Greek of "Iessei", and then from Hebrew itself "Yishai". It means "Gift of God" or "God Exists" But more than likely, given that such historic-terminology does not exist in Star Wars. LT Jesse's name is more likely derived from the idiom "Give someone a Jesse"... Which means to give them a scolding or a beating.

KIX I've discussed Kix before, but I might as well do it again for posterity. Kix, is derived from Kex, the archaic english term for the plant "Hemlock". TBB fans, go wild.

HARDCASE You might assume this means that this someone who is hard-nosed and a hard nut to crack, but that isn't the case for our Hardcase. Hardcase is derived from New Zealand Slang, as An "amusing, funny, witty, or possibly strange person."

DENAL There is no specific case that I can make for Rex's early command squadmate, save that Denal is probably meant to be Denial.

BOIL While we can make jokes about the skin abrasion, it probably refers to his temper. A Boiling point, as it were.

WAXER It could be referring to someone who waxes... But, it could also refer to the term "Waxing", as it the growth of something. Given his "Glass half full" personality, perhaps its "Glass half waxing".

COMMANDER BLY The Commander of Aayla Secura's legion, and whom fired upon her during Revenge of the Sith. The term bly, a dialetcic english term, means "Likeness" or "resemblance". Means Bly literally got his name for resembling another person (Wow, no Shit). Whoever named him, basically called him the clone variant of Manny, beacuse He Man.

COMMANDER GREE Introduced in Revenge fo the Sith, as being decapitated by Yoda. While in the extended universe, he's named after animals... The term "Gree", English Obsolete, refers to either "One of a flight of steps" or "one of a stage of ranks". Dude literally got the name "Rank".

COMMANDER BACARA Introduced in Revenge of the Sith, for firing upon Kit-Mun-Di. Bacara is Romanian for Baccara, which in turn refers to Baccarat, a card game. Absolutely nobody knows where the word came from originally.

COMMANDER PONDS Retroactively intorduced in Attack of the Clones, as the Clone Commander who greets General Windu. It... It just means Pond, but pural. It probably refers to the fact that Kamino is an Ocean, and the earth's oceans are sometimes refered to as ponds in slang.

COMMANDER NEYO Revenge of the Sith. It probably is meant to mean "Neo", which means New or Young, in Ancient Greek.

COMMANDER APPO Revenge of the Sith; Marched on the Temple. Does not, in fact, outrank Rex despite himself. Appo is an obsolete english Prepostion, referring to an object as "Before", "After", "Behind" or "nearby". It derives from Latin, "Apud", which means "in the presence of" or "among" (AMOGUS?)

COMMANDER THORN Named after Thor, from Marvel. There's even an old english letter called Thorn.

COMMANDO GREGOR The name Gregor, means "Watchful" or "alert". Which, given his character, is quite ironic.

CAPTAIN HOWZER I am unable to find that name specifically, but I theorize its based off of "Howitzer", which is a firearm cannon There is a lot more clones, and I can't make a post of every one of them. But lemme know if you want me to find anyone else.

The marines were enjoying a rare break. The 21st Nova was deployed on a new rock, a tenday of hyperspace away from their last battlefield. All the men were using this time to rest and enjoy the calm for once.

Bacara was catching up on datawork now that he could. There was some requisitions he needed to submit, mission reports to check, a few plans to review. He'd take a break when all of it had been taken care of. It should still let him a good couple of days to let himself be coerced by his men to join them in their various activities. Training together won't hurt anybody, quite the contrary.

He was a few hours deep in formwork when his comm chimed softly with his non-urgent alert. They had just dropped out of hyperspace it seemed.

Stretching for the first time in an unknown amount of time, he reached for his energy drink. Caff went cold too fast. Once settled back, he checked his comm, curious to see whatever Neyo had send him this time.

Wait-

Ponds ?

Why would Ponds send him a message ? Especially out of official lines.

Bacara clicked on the notification, more than a little bit puzzled, to find a holo of some sort of lizard looking back at him. A gecko maybe ? It had big yellow eyes, a pink little tongue sticking out and spotted scales in white and some dark purple on its back.

Beneath it, he found a simple message : "it has your colours."

Bacara closed the message and set his comm down. He could feel the engines starting off again to prepare their next jump. After taking another sip of his drink, he got back to work.

A small, private smile stretched his lips.

"I'm moving as fast as I can!"

"Well, move faster!"

Commander Fox has been having quite the day, yawning as he side-stepped into the (much nicer) temporary office he'd been given, his usual broom closet having been destroyed during some heavy storming. However, the flash of color makes him freeze mid-step, and he has enough time to take in several things before there's movement.

"SURPRISE!"

So many vod have crowded in his office, strung up colored triangles taped up on his bare walls and the tiles covered up by tiny bits of colored something, everyone grinning at his obvious confusion.

"What are you all doing here?"

"We're here because..." Bly motions towards Cody and Wolffe, who unravel a (slightly) dented banner as the vod crow and nudge each other good-naturedly.

HAPPY DECANTING DAY FOX'IKA!!!

"The natborns call it a decanting day party!" Rex slung an arm around the surprised commander's shoulders with a hum, motioning for someone to start handing out food and drinks. Fox's desk is covered in various foods and drinks, and Ponds heads towards them with some caf. "The Guard helped us set up, and you've been given the night off to celebrate."

"We even got you the good caf General Windu gave you once." The commander can smell the drink he'd been dreaming about for months before he raises the cup to his lips, and can't help but smile.

"If I recall, I was decanted with about half of you here." He watches as vod mingle and laugh as alcohol starts being passed around, and Bacara leans forward in his seat.

"Alpha knows about you liking 10/10 as "your" day, so we thought to make it official!" Fox blinks as he blushes in slight embarrassment, and hurriedly sips his caf. "So, we just made it official!"

"I see." The paperwork Fox finally remembers he'd been holding gets shoved in a random stack, and Neyo seems to come out of nowhere with the spotchka he'd been thinking about.

"Drink." The normally stony commander is generous with his pouring, and Fox lets his shoulder sag with the release of his burdens. He knew the others always looked at how haggard and tired he was constantly, unasked questions burning that Fox couldn't bring himself to answer, so to be free of everything for once was something the commander was going to take full advantage of.

So they bring to drink.

And drink.

And drink.

Somewhere after the third bottle of anything alcoholic is downed, someone brings up an idea that gets Fox laughing in delight.

Let's take out the Chancellor!

It's a sight to behold as several very drunk commanders stumble through the halls of the Senate building, somehow cramming into the elevator and riding to the top. It's even more a sight when they all begin to chant about the Chancellor being a decanting day gift, the best gift anyone could have brought!

Said Chancellor is so confused when the gaggle of drunk men barge into his office, and open fire before he can even open his mouth.

Not a single shot misses, which is surprising for such a drunk crowd.

"He's got more alcohol!" Bly crows after the shooting stops, and with a round of whooping, the vod begin to party once more.

"This is the best decanting day ever!" Fox sagged against Wolffe and Thorn with a dopey grin, watching Ponds and Bacara stumble pass them to tackle a cackling Cody, their stolen helmets skittering across the floor as they dissolve into laughter. Bly is rummaging for another bottle at the (rather) spectacular bar for more alcohol, an amused Fordo keeping the man upright as they crow over the shiny bottles, Thire watching from the chair he's draped himself over. Neyo and Gree are sitting beside the windows with their half-empty glasses, Gree fiddling with his radio to play music, while Neyo made sure Rex didn't shoot out the glass he was currently pressed against, muttering something about flying.

It'll be chaotic in the days to come, but for now, Fox is going to celebrate and get drunk with his vod'ika, until he doesn't remember his own name.

Natborns certainly knew how to make a party.

Cody: what kind of sociopath puts the milk in before the cereal.

Wolffe: milk, obviously.

Cody: i'm going to kill wolffe

Hardcase: i eat the cereal straight out the box then drink a bunch of milk and then breakdances so everything gets mixed inside my belly

Stone: i saw representative binks try to make a bowl of cereal once and it was so traumatic i can never eat cereal again

Rex: i have to send in more requests for cereal and milk than anything else including armor and weapons because half the time the boys don't even eat it they use it for pranks. do you have any idea how many shinies have come crying to me because there's no cereal because fives decided to glue cereal to everyone's armor for 'extra crunchy protection'?

Bacara: i pour milk and cereal into one big bowl, i eat it all and then i put the empty boxes back to crush my brothers' dreams problem solved

Kix: as long as you’re eating for the most important meal of the day i'm happy with you

Jesse: kix says i can't eat cereal for every meal because it's not healthy and i say if cereal is what kills me then that's how i go

Wooley: if you don't have a bowl for your cereal and milk your helmet will do just fine!

Gree: i had pepsi for breakfast. does that answer your question?

Boost: the only right way to eat cereal is with juice, and the juice always goes first in

Thire: i was so tired once i took milk then cereal then bowl and then i cried

Echo: i eat little handfuls of cereal at a time, like little snack breaks!

Bly: aayla showed me that cereal first minimize milk splatter she's so smart i love her and she gets new flavors with toys in the box for whole battalion whenever she can she's so wonderful i love her and

Hound: i prepare a bowl of cereal for grizzer every morning and she only likes it when i put the milk first

Sinker: i do cereal shots. alcohol then cereal then i dunk it i think my general's getting worried

Fives: pour milk directly into the box, waste no bowls!

Dogma: but i wanted cereal too

Neyo: i haven't eaten anything in years

Boil: cereal before milk. cody has had to reinforce this rule at least five times in the 212th

Waxer: cody first reinforced the 'cereal before milk' rule when he saw me take milk before cereal and he was sure i had a concussion and then he almost had one of his own when he realized that i was physically fine

Thorn: do you know how many times i have to stop fox from adding caf to his cereal instead of milk? Every Time.
