It's so sad that people instantly dismiss The Ancient Magus Bride because of Chise and Elias' age difference. It's totally valid and understandable for anyone who has gone through any trauma relating to that sort of thing not to want to read it I get that! But at the same time the show does a good job at filtering anyone who isn't willing to look past what looks surface level (too good a job). Elias isn't human and he doesn't quite grasp what romance means to humans. He probably doesn't even know we as humans find such an age gap to be disturbing/cause for alarm. Chise at first meets him when she's at her worst feeling apathetic about everything. It certainly sets itself up to seem toxic, but Kore Yamazaki doesn't take that route. Chise develops such a strong support group with characters like; Ruth, Angelica, Alice, etc. That I honestly feel like if Elias would try anything they'd be there for her. (Looks at Angelica scolding) Idk just some thoughts. It's such a gorgeous series with great worldbuilding and deep characters. But it's also too easy to write off as "Problematic" and to some "Boring". It's a slow burn that really asks its readers to put aside their initial shock to really understand its characters. You just can't force people to sit and listen if they don't want to though.
