Hiiii y'all, its uh. been a minute huh

Now that it's been a bit over a year since I put this blog on hiatus, a loootta stuff has happened and changed and i've been doing a loootttta thinking!

Looking back on it, like really really looking, my biggest reason for the hiatus was that at some point the blog just kinda became more of a chore than something I wanted to work on for fun. Ask blogs are a lot of work, even when you're just using talking portraits rather than drawing out every individual answer, and with how much ask culture on tumblr has died out over the years there just wasn't really enough payoff to make it feel worthwhile to keep burning myself out.

I think it's a really good thing I stopped it when I did, because having to deal with all that in my senior year of high school would have been a nightmare. I've actually just finished up my first semester of college now, and there's no way in hell I would've been able to keep up at any rate! With all of this in mind, I've gained a newer perspective about how to approach things going forward.

I'm still really attached to this story. With how much time I've spent thinking about it and developing it in my head, I can't let it go, even if the blog isn't really working out anymore. I keep thinking of different ways I could fix the decisions I made early on, as well as the super cool directions I could take it in in the future, and I just. I GOTTA.

So, I've decided to reboot it entirely as a fic series!

This means that, unfortunately, there won't be nearly as much artwork to accompany it, but it's far more likely for the story to actually progress! Writing is way less draining for me and once I get going I can do it much quicker than art anyway, even though I do still sorta wish I had the spoons to just turn it into a full-blown webcomic instead haha

This DOES mean that updates won't be nearly as linear as they were here, seeing as right now I've mostly been working on backstory fics that took place before the blog's main story, but that can at least give you guys more context for how the characters interact with each other! I'll also state that while I do write faster than I draw, I still do it a hell of a lot less, so updates will still probably be pretty infrequent. But at least they'll happen at all, right?

As for the state of this blog itself, obviously I'm going to leave it up! I still love looking back on the old interactions you guys had with my characters and your reactions to certain plot points (your reactions to Fluff tagging along with the rest of the group were my favorite by far) and I think it would actually kill me to erase them. I'll be posting the fic updates here too, just like I did for Self Hatred!

And even if it's not going to be an ask blog anymore, because of how much I still miss that kind of interaction with you guys, I think I want to do a sort of "last hurrah" event, to finally send off the asking format with some good vibes.

You see, there's a character I made up around this time of year two years ago. He's a pretty cool guy, but he doesn't actually show up until a specific turning point later in the story. I've been excited for you guys to talk to him since the day I made him, but a little bummed lately that you may not ever get the chance. I still need to get a lot of stuff prepared, so I'm not quite ready to announce or start anything just yet, but there's a reason I waited until my winter break to start thinking about this seriously.

I think you guys would really like to meet him.

But anyway, that's about all I wanted to say for now! This is a very long post already so it's time I start wrapping it up. As always, thank you all so much for sticking with me, even though I really haven't been consistent through the years. I hope this change doesn't come as too much of a disappointment, and that you'll keep sticking around for the reboot!

Hogwarts Volleyball AU

Okay so it might sound dumb, but I was getting back into the haikyuu fandom and I was just seeing some Hogwarts Kagehina aus. And they were super cute! But now that the manga is over it really cements for me just how important volleyball is for Hinata and Kageyama. And so I thought about it, and what if muggle Hinata comes to Hogwarts with his love of volleyball, and ends up dragging Quidditch star Kageyama with him. It's just so funny to me.

The Idea:

Kageyama likes Quidditch. He's good at Quidditch. But volleyball calls to him like nothing else ever has. Kageyama goes with Hinata to see an official volleyball match, and he's entranced. He sees the main game ball moving in ways that can't happen from only throwing on a broom. He sees the way each team can make plays without getting hindered, that only go south from lack of talent of the players. He sees a game locked on the ground but the potential endless. And Kageyama knows he needs to play.

When Hinata and Kageyama met, it was the second year of school. Hinata was a Slytherin and Kageyama was a Gryffindor. It was lunch, and Kageyama had run away from the people wanting to talk to 'the beater who made the team as a first year'. Quidditch was simple. People weren't. When he makes it outside, he sees a boy hitting a ball into the castle wall.

Kageyama can't seem to stop his words as he calls out. "That's not how you play Quidditch! Are you stupid?"

The boy turns around and grins so brightly he has to squint. "Who said anything about Quidditch?"

I don't actually have the time to write the whole thing out right now, so I'll give the general details I'm thinking.

Hinata has already started his volleyball love since before Hogarts, living as a muggle. He's determined to be the first wizard volleyball player.

Hinata likes flying on brooms, but quidditch doesn't inspire him the way the little giant does. Sometimes the things people accomplish without powers are just cooler.

Hinata doesn't care about any of his classes, though he always tries not to fail. He's gotten a reputation as a fake Slytherin because of it. He lacks the ambition he's supposed to have. Little do they know his ambition is volleyball.

Hinata has friends, but no one understands his love for volleyball. Even fellow muggles. To them, magic is everything. Hinata likes magic, but he would give it up in a heartbeat to play volleyball like the pros do.

It hurts when no one gets his passion, so Hinata often goes to practice on his own. He knows he needs to, or he'll never improve. He's still not sure how to get into a team, but he'll figure it out. Eventually.

When the famous second year sees Hinata practice and yells about Quidditch, Hinata decides to try one last time. To show someone volleyball, and all it can offer. Kageyama listens to his explanations but actually seems a little interested. Hinata can't let that go.

Kageyama is extremely curious about this 'volleyball' Hinata is so passionate about. He can't picture it at all, since he was a wizard his whole life. So when Hinata suggests going to the muggle studies teacher to see if there are any records of games, he agrees.

The game they watch is a national match between Japan and Argentina. It's quick. It's decisive. And it's the best thing that's ever happened to Kageyama. Hinata's explanations were terrible in comparison, but made all the more sense. There weren't any words to describe how he was feeling. And he turns to Hinata and demands to learn how to play.

Hinata knows they need to be an actually good volleyball team to actually get good. Wizards who just learnt volleyball aren't enough. Kageyama makes a plan.

Said plan gives them the means to join a school volleyball team for a trial year. If they reveal themselves or simply want to stop, the trial finishes. Hinata wonders how this all got pulled off, and Kageyama doesn't mention his family connections in high places.

Hinata and Kageyama love playing on a team. They aren't good enough to start, but training with people better than them was exhilarating. They train, and train some more. It's everything they hoped.

Kageyama gets so invested in volleyball he finds himself getting more emotional than he's used too. Frustration, elation, determination, defeat, they're all things he's felt before but never so much at a time. It makes him scarier to the public, since his neutral face now scowls in thought about his next volleyball play.

Kageyama's scary reputation is contrasted with his new best friend that never seems to leave his side. They bicker all the time but always sit next to each other at meals. The school was also interested in why Kageyama wasn't playing Quidditch anymore.

With his new grouchy face, rumor has it he didn't make it this year. (Kageyama did not bother trying out. He needed to focus on volleyball.)

Timeskip through all the hogwarts years where Kagehina rises and falls in rumors, from whether they're dating to their latest incident of trouble from one of their fights.

Kageyama and Hinata become the first wizard pro volleyball players. They're happy to be pros, and play until they can't anymore. It's only then where they return to the Wizarding world, to play Quidditch which is easier on the body. They take the world by storm.

In an interview someone asks why they took so long to start pllaying quidditch. They smile at each other and answer at the same time. "It wasn't volleyball. And that always comes first."

I can't believe, that with all the different lmk roleswap Au's I've seen, and the few reincarnated Au's, that there isnt an AU where Mk teaches/mentors a reincarnated Sun wukong

Like, sometime in the future (at least a couple hundred years) Mk is immortal and has mastered his powers and Moneky king has decided that it's time he can truly finally retire, end his immortality and move on to the afterlife.

But then some time later (idk an other century or two) wukong is reincarnated, and now this kid is the BIGGEST Monkie kid fan boy! And he wants to be trained by the Monkie kid!!!

Meanwhile mk is having a CRISIS because 'Its wukong!' But also its not... because he's been reincarnated. And so he's happy and sad when meeting him. But also the Bigger issue is "Wukong died/retired so he didnt have to keep living in a world where he kept losing friends and loved ones to time and fighting again and again and again, and his reincarnation IMMEDIATELY wants back into that kind of life?!!?

And so mk is like... no. But then this kid throws himself into danger anyway to protect his friends and city and whatnot, so .... might as well teach him how to defend himself and oh look he has powers too. Gotta teach him how to properly use those too.

And and and just... wukong getting to reincarnate along side his old friends and MK getting to be the mentor this time. Wheres that au??

Lately I've been going through a lot. I've been experiencing a lot of transphobia on top of my depression and PTSD. I've been struggling a lot with creativity and what art means to me, in addition to being in a ceramics class while my wrists are having a huge flare up making the wheel work I want to do near impossible. I see trans bodies celebrated in art and it means the world to me. I wonder why do I feel unable to do the same? Coming to terms with the fact that I still carry a lot of internal shame surrounding my body and my sexuality. This is not sexual artwork to me, more of a self portrait. More of a love letter to myself. I brought clay home to work with and kept scrapping everything I tried to make, until I sort of accidentally made a t dick. I thought about it, planned it in my head, and started it over with intention. It's been such a struggle to enjoy making art. And I enjoyed making this. Going over familiar curves, smoothing out the cracks and bending the clay in a way that felt so natural. I want to fire this piece and maybe even add underglazes to it, but I'm still so nervous because it's a classroom setting where multiple people will see it and handle it if I don't make time to load and unload it from the kiln myself, which I probably won't. But why should I feel ashamed? Cis women make art of their vaginas all the time. Breasts too. Someone a few weeks ago had a mug decorated with naked gay men they made in class. Trans bodies deserve the same respect and love as cis bodies. I love my body. I just want to show trans bodies are normal and nothing to be ashamed of. I don't have anywhere I share things like this, so it's going here. I may have a breakdown later and end up scrapping it, I might not. I love being trans and I love every trans body. Trans bodies are nothing to be ashamed of. What will I do with the finished piece? No idea. Where does one put a porcelain penis? Perhaps I could make it a wall piece. But despite what I may or may not do with this, it was really important for me to share this. I love my body. If I could only sculpt trans dick for the rest of my life I think I'd be happy. Something to do with trans existence being a constant experience in self creation. Every trans body is a work of art. I am endlessly creating myself and I think that beautiful.

Ok but tbh I don’t care how much attention it gained; I just wanted a non-serious way to approach this.

So, as you can see, my post has been reposted. How did I find out? Well, there was a time where I thought about reposting my incorrect quotes on other platforms (that idea died quickly) and I was curious if incorrect quotes were a big thing on other platforms

Then I discovered this.

Which I’m not mad or upset about. I mean, if people are enjoying my stuff on other social medias, then cool! If others think my stuff is good enough to repost, then awesome! I’m flattered.

The only uncool thing about this is that it’s my post. I come up with this stuff myself in my own words unless quoted from a movie or something. So, all I ask for is for it to be run by me, so I know it’s being done and to be credited when its posted.

i understand where the idea that yosuke is stupid comes from, i think, but i don't respect it. players don't learn until the very end of the game about how the visibility of the midnight channel varies, with how only people close to that person (or namatame) are even meant to be able to see anything. it might seem like the IT group on the whole is missing the obvious, because the player can pretty clearly see the victim's outline basically every time (they only really tried too obscure nanako)... and when yosuke, your dedicated partner, calls you and seemingly relies on you to come to conclusions for you, i guess that leaves an impression. there's also naoto, and the way it seemed like he was written to be the only one capable of coming to the right & intuitive conclusions when he's first introduced. people at this point might forget that previously yosuke did hold the same role and did a good job of it, and he remains a useful and insightful voice regardless. the final thing is something id want to confirm by going over the investigation discussion scenes again, but i always got the impression that after the very first push, when he is kind of desperate immediately after watching saki die, he's not super confident about proposing any intuitive leaps, he prefers to start the right discussions & be cautious about jumping to any conclusions-- and i think that is seen as an extension of the previously established perception that he's not willing to think for himself & would prefer to rely on the player. and i could be wrong about that, but.... anyway i have many thoughts abt how ppl slander my boy lol. it's possibly also bc he's the "best friend" character? which isn't accurate! he's the partner character!

im gonna have to go piece by piece here anon so bear with.

the visibility on the midnight channel varying is definitely something - i think namatame's ability to pretty much recognise them no matter what stems from both the fact that izanami gave him power (the same as yu and adachi, remember) and also the fact that, as a deliveryman, he would kind of know everyone in town.

yosuke is definitely pushing yu (and the player) into the correct direction. he has hunches but without being certain, he doesn't want to say them and sort've reinforce the idea that he's stupid. as the prince of junes, and being generally unliked by the public, obviously he's constantly fighting back against that, and any negative attention he draws (be it for small mistakes and the like, or for something bigger) will taint everyone's opinion of him. so, he asks his partner, his best friend, what he thinks with the information that yosuke has gathered. two heads are better than one, and yu's opinion holds far more weight over the rest of the team.

that's not to say that yosuke's opinion holds very little weight, considering he's not only the co-leader, but official founder of the investigation team (and he does take a leading position at times, though they're not always his best, ie. december 3rd)

naoto's position in all this you're right about - he's shown to be the smart, coolheaded detective who's working it all out, but up until the point he joins the team (which is early october), it's yosuke who does the thinking. it's yosuke who draws facts out and spearheads discussions. and yosuke even retains that position, like you say! when the group goes out for aiya and figures out the true culprit, it's yosuke and naoto who join yu outside.

the whole group is pretty cautious about jumping to conclusions in the early points, i think, and yosuke definitely is. he's not stupid - he knows he wants a clear answer for what happened, but without leads, he doesn't know where to begin.

but, with what information he does have, and what information the rest of the team might have, maybe there's an answer. so he offers his information up, and waits for everyone else to do so, so he can think of a possible solution.

yosuke doesn't rely on his partner. he cares for him, and wants his input on most things, sure, but that's because who wouldn't? you're in a situation where two people have died - one of them who you were close to! - and you're smart enough not to trust your immediate judgement, and instead, trust in the judgement of yourself, and your friends combined.

the "best friend" character thing is definitely a possibility (people see junpei and ryuji as stupid as well, but neither are) considering the way that people think about them. but i do also think its a culmination of people seeing yosuke act a little dumb at times, and mostly reading him at a surface level. i unfortunately can't do that because i've never loved a character at surface level in my life.

thank you!!! i love to talk about Exceptional Stories. because they're paid content, they have to be self-contained. It's basically like a short story set in Fallen London, and it's really fun to see how different writers approach the material. Some of them are bad! But that's one of the thing that makes them fun, I think. Sometimes they're really good, sometimes they're really bad, and sometimes they're only okay, and I never know what I'm gonna get!
