Listen, I am one of the biggest advocates for haterism, I love haterism, I have haterism in my bones. But y’all need to learn when and where haterism is and is not appropriate.

Spread your haterism in your own posts, and tag it properly as the haterism it is. Don’t be a hater in the comments/reblogs of someone minding their own business being a lover. There are ships that I hate with all the fiery burning passion of ten thousand suns, and occasionally, when the spirit moves me, I may spread my haterism online, (with the proper tags of course) but what you will NEVER catch me doing is spreading haterism in the comments of a post spreading loverism, or directly hating on/attacking innocent lovers minding their own business. That’s not only completely unnecessary, unhelpful, and unproductive, it’s also mean, and doing so would make me an asshole. Spread all the haterism you want, but let lovers spread their loverism in peace. Block the loverism tags you don’t want to see, and tag your haterism posts with haterism tags. Otherwise you are the asshole.

Really annoyed how many people are tagging scenes as “dubcon” when there’s nothing dubious about it.

If one character say “no”, “don’t”, “stop” or ANYTHING similar, and the other character keeps going, that is not dub con.

That is non con.

THAT IS NON CON.

There is nothing dubious about it.

Dubcon is when no one has said no… but they haven’t said yes either OR they’ve said yes, but it can’t be trusted (age, power dynamics, intoxication levels, etc).

Seriously, the number of fics I’ve read labeled “dubcon” where one character is actively fighting the other off is horrifying.

You're using tags as an algorithm to gain traction and not a filtration system.

I can't avoid fandoms that trigger and squick me if you'd rather accommodate snowflakes that have no clue how to tag over everyone else.

God...yes. like. It's okay to not like a ship! You can even write that it would make you uncomfortable if people would tag it as a ship when sharing your work. But God...don't put in threats. As soon as someone writes shit like "if you Tag it as a ship, I will kill you" or some similar bs, I have the strong urge to tag it as a ship. Even if I didn't think of it as a ship.

Same with ao3 and tags...when you are an unpleasant person in the tags, I have no desire to actually read your fic.

Tag properly. That's it.

unpopular(?) opinion: it annoys the hell out of me when people tag fic about siblings or other family members with stuff like "this isn't incest fuck you if you ship it romantically" or whatever

like buddy. I KNOW it isn't incest. I didn't think it was incest, I wasn't thinking about incest at all in fact, and I would really have liked to have CONTINUED not thinking about incest except every damn author in the tag feels the need to remind me about it constantly. people who do this shove incest ships into my face way more than actual incest shippers do because they won't fucking stop talking about how much they don't ship incest.

please just tag your fic with the things it DOES contain and don't worry about the things it DOESN'T, okay. I promise you no one's gonna think your fic is full of secret incest even if you don't spend 30 minutes decrying it in the tags before every fic.
