I've survived my several months long crunch period and can now breathe. Programs/work things were all a success + I don't have anymore programs until June, and I just made it to Room 46 in the Blue Prince so, yeah. We're alright.

The Return of the First Hero
Danny was the first superhero. He started when he was 14 and there were no other heroes around.
He did what he could during natural disasters and global threats but he was only one kid.
Sure things got a bit easier when he leaned how to make clones but he never felt like he was doing enough.
Because of his status as a ghost he never got worldwide recognition but he didn’t care, that wasn’t why he did it.
Danny was getting ready to go to college when clockwork approached him with devastating news.
With Pariah being defeated and him taking the throne, unrest had spread throughout the different dimensions.
Danny would have to help stop the destruction of reality and protect and maintain the stability of the realms.
So Danny left. He left knowing he was doing what he had to do to protect everyone, but knew he was leaving his world without protection and knew there would be consequences.
When Danny left, life moved on. Disasters happened and people died. There were no heroes to save the day.
Until there was.
Slowly but surely they came out of the woodwork. The Batman in Gotham. A man of steel in metropolis. The scarlet speedster in central city.
But they never truly left their cities. They never took responsibility of the earth.
And then they had to. Aliens invaded and a team formed bringing even more heroes into the light.
There was controversy the world over whether or not they should trust these heroes.
All except from a small town in Illinois.
Not much happened in amity park. There was hardly any crime. There hadn’t been any recorded natural disasters in years. There was not a single supervillain to be seen nor any hero. There were no corrupt cops and the wealthy not only paid their taxes but were actively involved in the community and charity.
No one understood the adamant support of these heroes. You could always find a few at any anti hero protest yelling their screams of support.
Eventually the cries of invaders and aliens died down and the voices of support outweighed the cries of hate.
One day a large green portal appeared above amity park and the heroes of the world took immediate notice. The Justice league immediately deployed to come to the aid of the little town that had stood beside them for so long.
The energy levels were off the charts. No one knew what was going on but they did their best to do what they could. Try as they might though, none of them could persuade the civilians to leave the area.
No one was panicked as the crowd grew larger, though it parted like the Red Sea when a large van pulled up.
Five adults exited the vehicle (if it could be called that) 2 appeared to be in their late 60s while the young woman with them looked to be in her mid forties with the two others not much younger than her.
They didn’t say anything. They just approached the portal, ignoring any hero that tried to protest.
Suddenly the portal grew brighter as a figure emerged from the green abyss.
A boy, no, a young man exited the portal. He couldn’t be more than 18-19 by the leagues guess.
Not a moment later did he charge at the group immediately being wrapped into a group hug as the portal vanished behind him leaving behind only a single bag.
When they finally let the man go they turned to face the crowd with a smile and he simply said.
I’m home.
The crowd went wild shouting cheers of joy and welcome homes.
The heroes were well and truly confused.
It was flash that approached a man at the edge of the crowd.
“What’s going on? Who is that?”
The man smiled.
“That’s Danny Fenton. The greatest hero this world will ever know and after 30 years he’s finally come home.
Flash immediately rushed over to relay what he was told to the rest of the team and they started to discuss the implications. It wasn’t long though before they were interrupted by the man of the hour.
“Is it true?” He asked, his expression torn and his eyes wet with unshed tears “are you the ones that have been protecting earth?”
The league was silent until superman stepped forward “we are members of the Justice league and we have done everything we can to protect this planet for the last 10 years”
The man grinned as the tears fell down his face.
“All this time, after everything I’ve done, I was terrified there would be nothing left when I came home.”
“Thank you”

just checking in to say that if the AFD and CDU (basically the republicans of germany) do get a majority of seats in the parliament today, dont stop protesting, continue to call people out on their bullshit, fight for peoples rights, get your studies done, eat a good snack, listen to good music, continue watching funny videos of your faves, rewatch your favourite cartoons. it is extremely hard to stay positive during these times and you dont always have to. be pissed, be livid, because you have every right to be. but the last thing we should do right now is give up. everybody who voted for those people: let's see how far this is going to get you.

I know the episode explains it away as "strong emotions and/or sense of purpose/need overrides the spores" (like the Lotus Eaters from The Odyssey), and I know Kirk was chosen as the sole crew member able to overcome the spores because he's the captain (ambition, sense of purpose, strength of character and will are all qualities needed in a captain), but there's something about how his past on Tarsus IV also enables his ability to overcome the spores. (And what a thing to have Spock try to fight the spores until they break him! A lot of what Leila tells him echoes what Chapel tells him in The Naked Time. Both of these women are so sure they know and understand Spock more than he does, but in both instances he is in pain and reduced to tears over what is supposed to be painless.)
The Omicron Ceti III colony is synonymous with a cult. They do not use technology past a certain age of advancement, despite the technology that brought them to space (point of hypocrisy, idealization of the "simple" past, etc.). Their diet is restricted, despite initial attempts to have animals (it's one part adjusting to their environment, one part accepting an outside limitation as a choice). No one wants to leave despite the condition of the planet (the Berthold Rays that ought to kill them) and the stagnation of their settlement, which is built-in to its creation due to their choice to limit technology (helps evade scrutiny and criticism if the lifestyle is expected to be harder than the norm of a colony). But everyone is in perfect health despite past medical records and perfectly happy thanks to the spores. To be exposed to the spores is even described in terms of belonging, like a prerequisite to joining the cult.
All of this is presented to Jim Kirk, one of nine survivors of Tarsus IV, a colony that was impacted by famine in its early development, splintered by revolution, and ultimately destroyed by a charismatic leader who chose to kill selected colonists rather than find another way to ensure more people would survive. No wonder he is critical of a promised paradise, wary of a man like Sandoval, and concerned about the people unquestioningly following Sandoval and staying in a known hostile environment. A lot is left undeveloped about Tarsus IV within TOS itself (beyond various books and episode drafts), but it is interesting to wonder how much it could have shared with the cult-like behavior seen on Omicron Ceti III.

USAdians! Looking for something to do on Saturday April 5th?
Well, you could go to a protest. That's what I'm gonna do.
The link will help you find one local to you. I'll be going to one in my own city, despite the cold and rain, and even though it means stopping work about 2 hours earlier than I usually do on a Saturday. Some things are more important.
Let's make it clear: we're not taking this shit lying down.

i just dont really understand why theyd target les mis? and like. its interrupting the work of actors and crew and house staff who dont have anything to do with fossil fuel corps. people who just paid to see the show who dont have anything to do with it.
i understand les mis is a show about rebellion and humanity but to me it doesnt make any sense.
( i say this as someone whos probably very unaware and very slow to realize the deeper meaning of things so i apologize if it comes off snobby i am just confused !! /genuine )
I'm very sorry if this comes off as rude but like.... "I don't understand why people would use Les Mis as the symbolic centerpiece of an act of protest/rebellion against the government" is just a very strange thing to say, and I'm genuinely not quite sure how to begin to respond XD. Like....it's literally Les Mis. It is Do You Hear the People Sing. The original novel was written to be a political rallying cry, it was written to bind together activists, and it has been used that way thousands of times since its publication in 1862. It's Les Mis, I don't know what else to tell you XD. Also I know this next comparison isn't perfect, but:
“I don’t understand why Les Amis interrupted Lamarque’s funeral.  Obviously I agree with Les Amis’s goals, but was this really the right way to protest? Obviously the government is doing something bad— but was this symbolic event really the right place to talk about it? Why even choose to interrupt this event, and the lives of the workers leading it and everyday people attending it? It wasn’t responsible for what was happening!
Okay, yeah, I get the funeral is ‘symbolically significant.’  I get that Lamarque has become, in popular culture, a symbol of rebellion and resistance against a government’s unfair policies.  I get Lamarque’s funeral is a pretty big public event that has a lot of symbolic significance ties to ideas of rebellion against the state.
I get that Lamarque’s words are often seen as a rebellious call to action, so illegally interrupting his funeral could be a statement about resisting tyranny. It could be a call to action playing off the popularity and symbolic role that Lamarque has in the public consciousness.
But at the same time— shouldn’t Les Amis have just gone to the palace and attacked the king directly? Why disrupt this symbolic event instead? They’re not really going after the people responsible!
After all, there were so many people there who just wanted a normal day. They weren’t responsible for what the government was doing and had nothing to do with it.  They wanted to see the procession, to hear Lafayette’s speech and grieve a political figure they cared for. They wanted to hear people praise ‘resistance’ in the abstract, without actually doing it.
 Weren’t Les Amis disrupting that?
Aren’t Les Amis bad activists? Isn’t disrupting people’s everyday lives for the sake of 'activism' always inherently a bad thing? I’m not against activism, but isn’t doing that kind of disruptive activism rude? Isn’t disrupting the lives of ordinary people just doing their jobs or going out for a special event evil— no matter why you’re doing it, or what your goals are, or whether the government actually is doing something vile that we should start to stage great events rallying against?
Even if this Lamarque's funeral has special significance because of its symbolic pop cultural ties to rebellion against tyranny—shouldn’t they have just avoided rudely interrupting some regular people’s everyday lives?
Protests shouldn’t disrupt things. they should be big parades that don’t make anyone uncomfortable, don’t interrupt anything, and don’t disrupt any aspects of ‘normal people’s daily life.’ No one should ever target symbolic events— like a funeral for a political figure or a musical about revolution—  to make a political statement. Protests should be little quiet festivals that cause absolutely no interruption in everyday life so that we can all just safely ignore them, until the climate catastrophe they’re warning us about arrives.”

Nigel and Alex have their rare moments of intimacy behind closed doors. Lingering touches, and blazing warmth.
#murderous intent#like minds 2006#like minds#alex forbes#nigel colbie#Nigel Colbie x Alex Forbes#Alex Forbes X Nigel Colbie#Nigel and Alex rarely do PDA in front of people. I guess I headcanon them as a very closed doors of a couple.#Though there are instances where they get asked frequently — from either of the two — if they're single.#And I'm guessing we all believe that NIGEL is the easiest one to get jealous out of the twn#So Alex is usually the one who initiates the contact to stray away from fruther queries of the nature of their “relationship”#When in reality Alex and Nigel have known each other for whay seems like forever. They have been interlinked since the beginning of times.#Only to have been separated by God himself for he has seen how much influential and treacherous their love is.#It is twisted yet familiar. It is distant yet so near. It is theirs and no one else's.#So#when they get home that's where Nigel gets all touchy towards Alex. Almost as if he's putting a claim on what is HIS.#Alex usually calls him crazy for ever thinking that questions like that will ever be followed by being asked out on a daye#But Nigel protests because he does KNOW. Everyone is a moth to a flame when it comes to Alex. Just like how Nigel is.#Until now. He is burning up with passion as he continues to fly towards Alex's warmth.#So. Alex just usually shuts him up with a tender loving kiss.#And he's glad he knows Nigel's weaknesses. Or else he's stuck with this tempermental cat.#Don't worry. Alex loves Nigel truly. He always did.#THAT IS ALL.
