CARMEN SANDIEGO OC WEEK DAY 2: MISSION June 8th
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You or them, Ms. Sandiego. Your choice."
For today's prompt, Mission, I decided to showcase Python's intelligence on emotional manipulation. With a psychology degree under her belt, she is well-acquainted with how fear controls people. Tasked with capturing Carmen, she turns to the people Carmen is closest to first, roughs them up, and uses them as leverage.
This is actually part one of three of a mini-series showing how Python works! Today, Carmen is captured to prevent Julia and Ivy's captivity and torture. On day 6 and 7 you'll see the result of that happening!

Goodness! Today was exciting! Today I sat with a different DM, a very lovely lady, I played with her last time, and she let me pick a "personality"!
It was a plastic gem-shaped trinket that was used to represent Thomoras on the board, I went with a periwinkle color. I'm planning on collecting a few more of these "personalities".
We went to a fae town in a swamp, tasked to defend the lovely Lady Harvest as she preformed a sacred ritual. Thomoras was head over heels for her! They even bought her a gift, some lovely shoes, and one of my teammates gave him a brooch that can turn into flowers, which Thomoras also offered her. She rejected the shoes, accepted the brooch, and informed Thomoras she's already involved with someone. Why must I always be spurned!
I offered the shoes to the teammate that gave me the brooch. She gladly accepted! They weren't Thomoras' size anyway.
I also got to show off my lovely dice bag today!
The worst part of the day was this one moment where I got a bit excited at something that was happening in the game, the table was staring at me a bit for my reaction. However when I explained I was just excited the DM did something really sweet! I don't wish to go into specifics, but it made me quite happy!
Oh, and at one point a bumblebee fell asleep in my lap!
Last time I was also informed that I was allowed to pick an uncommon item, to which I chose a staff of the python. I named my snake Slitherz the fourth. Don't ask me about his name, it came to me in a dream.
Quite literally. I dreamt I hae the body of a crab, and as I was walking across the beach, a snake walked- slithered, rather, up to me and introduced himself as Slitherz the fourth "with a zed". He was a lovely snake, we had a quick chat about the weather, and when he slithered off he said "Until monday, Thomoras!" and so I knew it must be.

Richie: Eddie-baby, when you first started in the...
Eddie: I'm sorry, I'm sorry, but I don't like being called 'Eddie-baby'.
(Later)
Richie: I didn't really call you Eddie-baby, did I, sweetie?
Eddie: Don't call me sweetie!
Richie: Can I call you sugar plum?
Eddie: No!
Richie: Pussy cat?
Eddie: No.
Richie: Angel-drawers?
Eddie: No you may not! Now get on with it!

National Serpent Day
National Serpent Day is observed annually on February 1. It’s a tradition that has been in practice for at least five years, as a way to encourage everyone to widen their understanding of snakes to overcome their fear of serpents.
History of National Serpent Day
National Serpent Day is observed every year to appreciate snakes. They have been known to humans for centuries and have evolved over an even greater period in history.
Snakes are perceived as the symbol of medicine, good, evil, fertility and have been seen as sacred since ancient times because of their venom. The venom is said to have healing properties that modern studies have proven can produce painkillers, drugs for hypertension, and even treatments for strokes, heart disease, and possibly even cancer.
The precise origin and history of National Serpent Day are not clear; however, the day has been set aside for at least five years as a way to encourage everyone to widen their understanding of snakes and to overcome their fear of serpents.
Historically, the origin of snakes being evil’ as it is today is seen from the rhetoric of Adam and Eve and the role snakes played throughout biblical literature. It is as such for cunning Eve to consume from a tree forbidden by God. Eve’s act of obeying the snake instead of God’s instruction is assumed to be linked with the beginning of the bad things that happen presently according to Christianity. National Serpent Day is to rewrite the negative stories around snakes and inspire humans to reflect and come to grips with their fears for it. Most snakes are known to animal scientists as shy and retreating. None will attack a person unmolested.
Studies show snakes go as far as to coil up and rattle to warn approaching humans of their intention to be left alone and striking only as a last resort when they feel trapped or cornered.
National Serpent Day timeline
1869 — 1897 Edward Drinker Cope’s Findings
His contributions include extinct reptile fossils leading to an understanding of snakes.
1969 “Biology of the Reptilia” is First Published
It serves as a reference to topics on the evolution of amphibians and reptiles.
2001 Modern Research on Snakes Starts
The University of Texas publishes a survey on the ossification in neonatal squamates.
2015 The Oldest Snake Fossil Ever Is Found
A 113 million-year-old fossil of a four-legged snake is discovered in Brazil.
National Serpent Day FAQs
What do serpents symbolize?
Snakes are believed to represent power, good, evil, fertility and have healing powers. They can shed their skins and emerge reborn, thus they are also identified with the symbol of regeneration or rebirth and immortality.
What do snakes represent in tattoos?
Snakes are an ancient symbol of rebirth, temptation, fertility, and power that is often depicted in tattoo arts with those things in mind.
Can a snake love you?
Snakes may become tolerant toward their owners but in general, they aren’t affectionate toward humans.
How to Observe National Serpent Day
Visit a nearby zoo
Learn about them
Celebrate on social media
Spend the day at a nearby zoo seeing the different snakes learning their distinct characteristics to observe National Serpent Day. Go as far as understanding how and why they react to a human invasion. You might even invite friends on your trip to uncover which one has the greater fear for the serpent and conquer your herpetophobia together!
Take National Serpent Day as a time to research snakes native to your area. Understand which ones are deadly and ways to recognize them. You might also read about ancient stories of how they are used in medicine or dive into modern literature to see the role they portray in them: Like Kaa in “The Jungle Book” by Rudyard Kipling, or Nagini in J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series.
If you’re a snake lover, there’s no better way to observe National Serpent Day than posting selfies of yourself and your snake friend on social media to help everyone else overcome their fear of it. You can use #SerpentDay or #NationalSerpentDay to track discussion.
5 Things You Should Know About Snakes
Snakes have remedial properties
There are thousands of snake species
Snakes eat their prey whole
They are mostly non-venomous
They sometimes give live birth
Snakes have been sacred since ancient times because their venom is thought to have healing properties and studies show it's used to produce painkillers and drugs for hypertension and might even help with treatments for strokes, heart disease, and maybe even cancer.
Researchers have identified roughly 3,000 species of snakes existing around the world.
Snakes are known for their ability to swallow as a whole, prey up to three times larger than the diameter of their head due to their upper and lower jaws being separate.
According to scientists, only one out of eight of the known snake species are venomous.
Snakes are mostly known to lay eggs; others give live birth too.
Why National Serpent Day is Important
It encourages overcoming our fear of serpents
It helps us appreciate their existence
It promotes our understanding of snakes
National Serpent Day’s purpose is to help us overcome our fears of snakes. It serves as a day to especially help us to form a friendly bond with the ancient animal.
Snakes are a symbol of power, good, evil, fertility, and have been known to have remedial properties useful to humans for ages. National Serpent Day serves as a day to appreciate their existence on earth for these reasons.
The reason for National Serpent Day is to help give awareness of snakes with the hope that it would lead us to conquer our fears. On this day everyone is encouraged to take their time to research and learn about snakes native to their area.

CARMEN SANDIEGO OC WEEK DAY 3: RELATIONSHIPS June 9th
Tumblr media
diversity win! the woman torturing you is aroace!
shes hot buff lady with homoerotic tension with a lot of the women she tortures, but this is mostly a result of her being hot and cool and knowing how to leverage her traits to get people to do what she wants them to whilst working. outside of work she's wholly uninterested in romance. she's so real for that
as for friend relationships, she doesn't have a lot of operative friends because, even though she's pretty chill, everyone knows that if they royally fuck up she will not hesitate to do as she is told. she is more of a weapon than in a person in the eyes of most.
she has one younger sibling whom the faculty use as leverage against her to keep her in line.
nobody talk about how she looks like a different person every time i draw her

Rest in peace, Abdul “Duke” Fakir, the last remaining founding member of The Four Tops. Sincere condolences to his loved ones.
The Four Tops were on George’s jukebox at Kinfauns, per the Record Mirror’s January 1, 1966, issue. The songs: “Something About You” and “Darling, I Hum Our Song.” “[Brian Epstein] told us that he had seen us perform, and if you give me your top performance, I’ll guarantee that when you come back, you’ll be front page news. We did do one of our best shows and he was so happy, he was almost crying. The audience was standing in the aisles calling for more and more and he said, ‘You guys did it!’ When we came back, we were front page news and it was like that for years.” - Duke Fakir, Asbury Park Press, 2019 Referenced in the Get Back sessions: "Reach Out (I'll Be There)." And of course, there’s a shoutout to “I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch” in the Harrisong “This Song”… “[I]t’s got like that Tamla sort of line, bass line, and so it says, ‘This song could be you, could be’ — and then I’ve got, I always heard this in my mind — I got Eric Idle, who’s one of the ex-Monty Pythons, to throw in the line where he says, [parodies] ‘Could be Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch!’ [laughs] And the other voice says, ‘No, sounds more like Rescue Me!’” - George Harrison, A Personal Music Dialogue with George Harrison At 33 1/3, 1976 (x)

genuinely obsessed with sebs media consumption habits, we know he likes: band of brothers (from the depths of the old sebsite), channing tatum (also sebsite), monty python, little britain (mentioned multiple times) and new girl (seen through glass quickfire questions), can not tell star trek from star wars (tirendo interview) but likes 'the one with the one with the ears' better, uses his phone to take pictures and look at maps (article on the f1 website i think), listens/listened to the beatles, eros ramazotti, blink-182, donovan's season of the witch, had a solid knowledge of early 2010s one-hit wonders in 2020/2019 (ferrari challenge video, guessing a song [actually titanium by sia] was bulletproof by la roux [since the song snippet contained the word bulletproof]) first album he bought was 12 inches of snow, his favorite films are the shawshank redemption and la vita e bella (during which he cried). he had britney and schumi posters up on his wall. he seems to never have heard shawn mendes and camila cabellos 'senorita' before the ferrari challenge (i envy him for this) but does know relatively small german indie bands (jules ahoi [not that small but like. small enough that you can hang out with and talk to the lead singer after a concert])
