desperately craving weird surrealist arthurania. Knights with no faces wandering through the mists. Seams between Christian and pre-Christian Britain gaping like open wounds. Beafts and visions. Maybe a monk. Maybe the monk is gay

the assholes of the current admin removed the incredible, thorough, scholarly research study that was sponsored by the NPS about LGBTQ+ life in America and American LGBTQ+ history from the NPS website. Suspecting that they would, in fact do this, I downloaded a copy of it, which you can now find (and download) here.
Fuck them for deleting this important piece of scholarly research and writing about LGBTQ+ history in America. We're here and we're queer (as in fuck you). We have ALWAYS been here and no matter what they do, they can't change that.

Before they took Eve out of him, Adam was something both. He was Adam but he was also Eve. “Male and female He created them.” He was both then. Even if it was only one rib of Adam that was Eve, how could Adam have ignored such a part of himself? How could all of womanhood have been stored in one man’s rib and he not notice? He had no concept that she would one day be somebody else. That womanhood was his. His originally. His at the formation of man. A grain of womanhood, inside his chest. A man seeded with a feminine side so powerful it would grow the vast diversity of women. There’s no way he didn’t notice. There’s no way he didn’t see that seed, that rib, as part of who he was. After all, he was made in God’s image then.
When God said “Let us make man in our image,” He made Adam in all his bothness. Adam’s rib was like God’s rib. Adam’s womanhood was like God’s womanhood. Adam’s rib was taken out of him. Did he miss it? Did he feel an emptiness there? Or was seeing it grown into a unique creature of glory all its own so divinely delightful he had no time to mourn his little rib. Did the first man ever miss his bothness? God never took out His own rib. That womanness is still in there. God’s bothness is intact. Where is God’s rib now?

My fav agents of the transsexual empire 🫶😁🏳️‍⚧️
I think personally we should draw them as adults getting to fully indulge in their teen fashion aspirations. (see second image) Callies outfit was inspired by paint splotches and embroidery as if she made her outfit herself :) A true artist!
Third is my updated readings. I say "readings" because i believe theres textual evidence for these and its how i interpreted them from my read throughs. (Only jake has the autism symbol because hes the most explicitly disabled coded in text but all of them to me are neurodivergent)
The gender labels are used loosely bc i think each of them has an incredibly unique journey/relationship with their gender that cant be encapsulated in a small set of words, and i do not think any of them would actually fully use labels either.
I am just using these to simplify down my thoughts into something easily digestible LOL MY THOUGHTS ON THEM AND THEIR PARALLELS + MIRRORS + INVERSIONS ARE SUPER COMPLEX i think about them Genuinely Literally Every Day of my Life. theyd have to be saved for a different time </3 but ya alpha kids trans 4EVER howd hussie cram THIS AMOUNT of queerness into these guys.. will never know

No scarier sport than reading a queer book while your father is across the store 😭
I am legit terrified rn
HOWEVER
Juno Dawson made some really good points and you should check out her books!
I did take a photo of the resources for Queer and Trans resources but that was only because I wanted them for future reference, I also doubt she’d mind and would probably understand, as a trans woman herself

These are the books I was talking abt btw
Very solid books
They also have stuff for parents so if you’re a parent of a queer or trans kid, please get these so you can inform your kid better and also understand them better so you can help

actually always thinking of darth vader through a transgender lense bc i’m insane but also bc it is SO EASY to do a trans reading of his whole deal like to me, personally, in the star wars in my brain that is better than yours and doesn’t gaf about authorial intent, darth vader is in part a manifestation/personification of the horrifying feelings of loss of control that come with long-term repression/closeting or forced detransition. and this works on a purely superficial level because darth vader is hypermasculine in a way that starkly contrasts a lot of anakin’s softer/more androgynous traits but if we are to actually think beyond the superficial the themes of loss of autonomy and rejection of personal identity in favor of one given to you are veryyyy resonant from a trans perspective. constant insistent rejection of your true self. “that name no longer has any meaning to me.” even his voice is not his own. etc etc. vader is a reinvention of anakin but that reinvention is into an empty husk whose entire existence is to be another person’s pawn. vader is not so much a new identity as he is a lack of one. and i don’t want to dismiss that on a literal textual level disability is a part of the Body aspect but all this is far less about his injuries and part more about how they’re treated, specifically how his body is altered in ways that are entirely about creating a more imposing image and basically turning him into a weapon (there is no reason for him to be 6’7), and that again ties into the idea of Erosion Of Self. and i think these aspects come together in a way that is so easy to read as trans, or at least that resonates with me as a trans person, because so much of repressing as a trans person is inventing an empty version of yourself and accepting your physical state as something you are fundamentally not in control of and self-denial for others. and vader encompasses a lot of those feelings taken to body horror space opera extremes

Something something about Pangi being in the shadows because he is questioning and suppressing parts of himself VS Lukey being loud and vibrant in the bisexual light might I add because he has already accepted and embraced those parts of himself <3333

I made a demo reel for Gay in a Theme Park.
I don’t know whether it’s funnier that he’s an actual detective or this is a Scooby Doo situation.

First thoughts on Malevolent:
I think there is a reason this appeal to queer people so much (or maybe more than one): Arthur’s story is queer, even if he is not, because he is a man living a female fear.
Let me explain: his body is host to a creature that needs him to be alive to effectively survive. But the way he deals with it is What is interesting: he does not want to get rid of John as if he were a parasite, he wants to be safety separated from him. He wants his autonomy back but also wants John to be safe and have his own autonomy.
This kind of experience is closer to an unexpected pregnancy than a demonic posession.
On top of that he mentions having dressed up in his mother’s clothing as a child, further tying him to femininity. And also the way Kayne speaks about him and John.
He might not be queer but he is dripping in queer themes.
