🦀 How to use crab shells in witchcraft
Use them on your altar to symbolise the element of water
Use as a candle holder or offering bowl
Use in rituals for protection, strength, resilience, tenacity, transition or independence/self sufficiency
Hang them in doorways or windows as a protective charm (you can also paint sigils on the inside of the shell)
Use small shells (or shell powder) in spells bags, bottles and amulets
Use them as a focus point for a meditation/visualisation on change, life cycles or strength
Remember…
Crab shells have bacteria that can make you sick - boil them for 10 mins and clean them thoroughly with a stiff brush
Don’t be smashing crabs like a Vogon - vacated shells only, please!
If you forage them from a beach, take only one and only when needed - leave the others for nature
If you buy them, consider the ethical implications
When you forage on the beach, make an offering by litter picking as well
If you let them dry out too quickly, they will crack

@maledicti-oculi said: (inbox) Rider looked at her master with a brief moment of joy, she had been nothing but faithful to the monster she commanded. But, Medusa could feel the gorgon winning inside. That if she wasn't careful , that she would harm the girl she held so dear. " You're a failure of a master. You should let me go......Allow me to disappear, before I desire to eat you." She stated, her tone cold but each word wounded the serpent. Her expression changing to turn icy cold.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The words hurt, even if Rider didn't actually mean them. Yuuki often felt like she was a failure, so to hear that from someone she so admired was painful. It felt like daggers being stabbed in her chest from them. Each word is a new stab, another wound upon her already fragile heart. She didn't know how to respond. She felt her right hand rise up and clutch the chain holding her cape in place on her Mage's Association Mystic Code she's come to wear most often. "Rider.. I know that I'm a failure. I admire you so much. Your story was one I loved reading. I never saw a Monster, and I always hated that people equated you as such. That all you were was a terrible woman who seduced a God and was punished for it. I always saw a beautiful woman, who was taken advantage of, and that your curse was a blessing. No one could harm you, and yet people sought you for the very same power. I cried. You, who was wronged the most, deserved nothing but happiness. Yet, you were turned into a conquest. Something to be destroyed. I vowed, that if I ever.. were to meet you if I was graced with the chance of being your Master, I would do everything in my power to show you warmth. The warmth you should have always had. Even if it were to be my ending. I'm sorry that I am a failure. Could you ever forgive this Master of yours? I'll do better. I'm fully aware that something bad could happen to me, but I don't want to let you go. You're so amazing, Rider! I'm in danger all the time, so please.. would you mind staying with me a little longer?"

Altar Magick is something that is often taken for granted. People just assume they know what it is, and while it is true that this form of spellwork is introduced at the beginning of most practices, people don't fully realize how much they actually don't know, and how even non-witches partake in it. If that interests you, check out my video essay that I uploaded on December 19th.

I've had such an amazing day today.
I guess there is no secret that my interest in 40k has waned slightly recently.
I feel I get less and less comments on my posts/fics/art, despite getting a lot more followers (and with that, a lot more unhinged hate DMs) Ive started to feel like the hobby had lost that spark for me.
I've been into Warhammer for a loooong time.
I first got into the hobby (WH Fantasy) in 2003 and I was immediately hooked. I was blown away by how cool the worldbuilding was, but more importantly how friendly the community was.
My FLGS let me, a broke-ass student, sit and paint my army in store for literal hours on end. Always so happy to see me, despite me hardly ever buying anything. And let me tell you, I was a shy and awkward kid, and they always remembered my name and made me feel so welcome.
I haven't really engaged with Warhammer online until about a year and a half ago when I created my ao3 account. At first it seemed just as friendly as my offline experiences. But recently? I feel like I'm either ignored whenever I comment or try to interact with the community or worse, get told I suck or should go kill myself.
So I just felt it was time to maybe leave, (but I admit, the sunk cost makes it difficult) The only thing I really looked forward to was the minipainting classes I take once a week.
But today I got that magick feeling back. And remembered how much I love this hobby.
I went to my local GW for the new 10th edition 40k release. I’m a time pessimist as usual and arrived 1,5h early 😅 and found out there was only one other guy in line before me, but rather soon a bunch of other people showed up.
Everyone was sooo excited to be there and I made a bunch of new friends in line.
Then I got in and ordered my box (and I also managed to snag the special edition signed book that is a tie in with the box! That felt so much fun, I have never managed to get one of those before despite really trying).
I also got some of the new Death Guard Space Marine Heroes packs. A kid behind me in the queue also got some because he wanted a specific hero (that he unfortunately didn't get) I suggested I open my packs and see if I got one and then we could trade. I did get that model, and he was so excited and thankful, it really made my day since I didnt care that much for that particular model, but to him it was everything.
Everyone in the store was so hyped, and the mood was so great I didn't want to leave, so when I overheard some of the guys I hung out with in line ask if there was a mini of the month they could build, I tagged along.
The store staff was as amazing as always and brought out not only the mini of the month, but also three other models they still had in stock from previous months.
So I ended up building 4 minis in the store along with a bunch of other people.
I met a really nice couple that was pretty new to the hobby and they asked if I was excited for the new box because half of it was Ultramarines (I told them I love the Ultra boys, big chock 😅) but I explained that there was nothing Ultramarine specific in the box and one could paint them as any chapter they wanted.
And boy, they were amazed! They had no idea that all space marines are generic models and they were so curious about other chapters and I tried to explain that there was a chapter for pretty much anything and any colour.
The girl ended up really liking the Soul Drinkers and the guy was on the fence between Blood Angels and sticking to Ultramarines :D
So my advice to anyone else that feels like the hobby is toxic, or is tired of the “my army is soo much cooler then yours/everyone who likes this sucks”, please join the real world.
This hobby is soo amazing, and it is filled with so many happy, passionate people, all loving this weird little hobby.
Over 20+ years, a dozen or more game stores/clubs; I have never had a bad IRL experience with Warhammer. I really wish I could say the same thing about the online experience.

They were still as busy – he and Nerys running the salvage crews, digging the dead from the graves their houses had become and demolishing the more dangerous ruins, Julian in the emergency infirmary and, when he had time, running basic forensic analyses on those bodies there was nothing left other than teeth and bone fragments to identify them by – but, somehow, everything became so much easier after Miles and Keiko arrived.
Miles immediately began getting the makeshift facilities they had in decent shape. Rather than the thrown-up tents, within a few days they were suddenly living in surprisingly solid prefab buildings instead. The infirmary gained a dust filtration field, and the antiseptic fields and the lights stopped fritzing and glitching every time the dust-laden winds changed direction.
He magicked up effective toilet facilities that actually stayed clean even when there was a queue halfway down the ruined remains of the street for them. The salvage crews of shell-shocked, nearly ghostly figures grubbing through the ruined remains of their wrecked world suddenly gained a new energy and purpose when they were putting together toilet facilities on every street – or at least where streets had once been.
The trail of Cardassians with desperation finally overcoming their suspicion of the Federation to drag in friends and relatives with their shock and injuries exacerbated by chronic sickness and diarrhoea began to tail off, and Julian’s fears that the water table was contaminated and every case might herald the beginning of an outbreak began to recede with them. He actually began to be able to spend portions of his nights in his bed with Elim rather than snatched hours here and there.
After the toilet facilities, Miles’ next miracle was coaxing enough capacity from the replicators to create shower blocks to add onto them. Not emergency vibe cleansers, but *water* showers. Where the water was *hot*.
Elim nearly wept the first time he stepped into one of them. The chill dust of the wreck of Cardassia seemed to have seeped so deep into his pores that he had thought he might never actually feel warm again, even curled close in Julian’s arms. He ended up staying so long – nearly asleep on his feet, just feeling the warmth soaking into his bones – that eventually there were familiar light footsteps outside the cubicle and he was roused from his trance by a soft knock on the door.
“Elim? Are you all right?”
He hit the door control without thinking and was suddenly standing there in front of Julian with only the – decadent, luxurious – rush of water down his body between them.
Despite the precious, desperate nights huddled in each other’s arms, they had not actually had much time to look at each other since Julian came to him. Too cold, too exhausted, bundled under uncertain emergency lighting and layers of dust-laden clothing. Suddenly, here they were, with only the gentle veil of condensation in the air to soften the too-bright human lighting. The concern in Julian’s thin dark face faded as he slowly looked Elim up and down. Became something else entirely, burning in his soft hazel eyes.
Elim grinned suddenly; his broad, deeply untrustworthy smile, utterly transformed by the spark of deep, genuine joy shining out of the depths of his deep-set dark eyes. The water still poured down his arm as he held out a hand to Julian in invitation.
“My dear Doctor, you seem to have found me. I wonder if I might impose upon you to spare me a few more moments?”
Julian swallowed.
“I…think I can spare just a *few* more.”
There was a soft splash as his already-damp uniform fell into the water puddling on the floor as the cubicle door swooshed shut behind them

FFXIV Write Day 5
The snow was falling in big, soft, clumps, the kind of snow that would cover the ground in a matter of hours and would make the world quiet. Until the shoveling crews arrived, at least. Ezri wrapped her coat more tightly around her body and burrowed her nose into her scarf. Her ears and tail were especially cold as they poked out of her otherwise warm garments. Her stomach growled and she looked angrily at the other freelance enforcers standing in front of the empty plot of land. How many goddamn people could possibly show up at 8am in a war-torn sector of the city for a housing auction where there isn’t even a fucking house on the plot?
This section of the city (formerly known as Ishgard, now just Sector VIII, City A) had been bombed to shit after the calamity, and the Garleans were just now getting around to rebuilding it. They were offering plots in particularly desolate areas to Free Companies made up of non-Garlean enforcers–assuming those lucky few would clear away the rubble and build their own houses. The auction wasn’t until noon and Ezri was doing her best to stay alert and not get robbed. Chupa, Kuma, and Ocean had entrusted her with the auction today while they stood in various queues for essential supplies.
Ezri looked up when she heard yelling. “This fucking whore stole my gil!” an au-ra man screamed, pointing at a skinny miqo’te. The miqo’te started running away but the au-ra managed to grab him by the tail, knocking him face down into the snow. The au-ra placed a foot on the miqote’s back and grabbed the pouch of gil out of his shivering hands. “Fuck you, for stealing an honest enforcer’s money.” The au-ra kicked the miqo’te, hard, and the smaller man coughed up blood.
In a different world, Ezri would’ve done something. She would’ve at least provided some healing magicks so that a fellow person wouldn’t be bleeding into the snow, even if they were a thief. But healing magicks were dangerous when not used in service to the Empire, and besides…if Ezri wanted to sleep outside of a slum any time soon, she had to win this auction.
