My response: I agree with the sentiment, but therapists cost money and talking to non-trained professionals has a risk of leaving them with trauma and a helper mentality to the point of hurting themselves.

ChatGPT is honestly better in that regard, sadly.

I am bringing this here to say that not everyone has the money for therapy and going deep with untrained people expecting answers just harms both of you. I was that people pleaser back in the day.

If you need to use ChatGPT, fine. It's a tool. Know that it isn't a therapist and isn't a replacement for one, but it's better than pushing your trauma on people who can't handle it themselves.

Some of this crap even crawls deeply under the skin of therapists, but they are trained for this and have better coping mechanisms. Using an AI is shaky morally, sure, but it's better than putting it on friends sometimes.

Don't be afraid to use your tools if you need them. Just as long as you play it smart and make sure the model knows it's supposed to be a listening ear rather than a therapist. If you can't live with just sending it off into the ether through social media, ChatGPT is honestly a safer option than many.

MORE ABOUT BLACK HOLE MELKOR BC I CAN'T STOP MYSELF (it's mostly angbang)

Mairon met him in the Void, before Arda was created. He was instantly obsessed with how vast Melkor was, so gigantic and powerful he put even the other Valar to shame. Melkor's very presence made Mairon feel like he was looking at a tear in the universe itself, and he loved it.

Melkor thought Mairon was rather cute, actually. He was so small and so enamored with him, just for what he was.

Down in Arda, both Melkor and Mairon interact with light weirdly. Light always falls on Mairon like a bad photoshop, shadows either falling where they really shouldn't be or not at all. Mairon looks too perfect wherever he goes, to the point where it's uncanny and probably breaking the fabric of reality a little. (You know, for the aesthetic).

Melkor, on the other hand, still bends light like a black hole. He can't completely devour it and hold it hostage, but the light of the Silmarils still falls oddly, sometimes wreathing his crown in a glowing halo whenever he feels particularly flashy. Torchlights seem to warp around him when he walks through the halls of Angband, and whenever he's backlit, anyone unfortunate enough to be looking on sees the light outlining his entire form. Maybe they even see a ghost of his old, commanding majesty, accretion disk and all.

This simulation from NASA is probably a good visualization of what Mairon sees whenever they're close. That effect might also explain why time seems to slow down whenever they kiss, but that might also just be Mairon.

In all of his forms on Arda, Melkor hasn't actually had the power to destroy it all himself. That might be an unintended side effect, but I think it's a lot more purposeful. There is one side of Melkor that doesn't fit the black hole headcanon quite perfectly, (except in very very specific situations involving destruction and rebirth), and that's his desire to create.

Also, Mairon would get mad at him if he ate the fortress one day. There's that too.

You've got Slate, whose idea of a good date is an explosion - and who says that they (Slate) (The Explosions One) have no idea how Feldspar lived long enough to become an astronaut, based on their nonexistent sense of self preservation. And then you've got the aforementioned Feldspar, whose idea of a good time is flying straight into the eye of the Giant's Deep storm for breakfast, and Dark Bramble for lunch.

Those two are the roaring engine of the endeavor, but if Hornfels wasn't methodical enough to channel that energy with actual science, they'd be an uncontrolled blast instead of power with steering. Gossan is the safety rails to the objective, the one to handle "how can we do this and live to do it again" and "how can we do this repeatably enough that other people both can learn and want to". If Slate and Felds are the engine and Hornfels is the steering, Gossan is the fuel line, a measured and steady input to give the whole thing staying power and make sure it's built to last.

Without the wilder half to take the plunges, they never would have passed the point of prototyping with the scant resources and unanswered questions they had. Without the more grounded half, they would have leapt too far too fast and become a barely-spoken cautionary tale instead of an inspiration. The existence and success of this project is as precarious and beautiful as flight itself, and it is so interesting to me to think about how each of its components helped to lift it to where it is by the start of the game.

If you want to talk semantics, it would be "Sorcerers prioritize the living over the dead." I think the general meaning is still there, though.

Yesterday at cardiac rehab, I was walking laps, and on one wall there's a huge mirror, so for like a third of each lap I could watch myself approaching this mirror

And you know what? Yeah my body is a different shape than it was. But look how far I can walk now! And others are still passing me, but I'm faster than I used to be. Look at those strong thick thighs pumping as I stride! Look at how my waist is slimmer than it was!
