I get hating certain political systems and trying to abolish totalitarian regimes but at the same time many of them are so interwoven with our history and society they have become tropes and when I consume media with a setting where the monarchy is absolute and revered then I am playing my part and sucking that princeling off

#litchi.txt #there are games that address this kinda stuff! and thats good! its good that there are games talking about how this is bad!#but at the same time when I go into a game knowing I will be the prince's sword and shield I dont expect the game to be anti-monarchy #despite having pretty strong opinions on many a thing I tend to put most of them away the moment I engage with media #imperialism bad. monarchy bad. doesnt mean I cant enjoy roleplaying in a game where I help these systems #because guess what its fictional and not everything needs to be a strong statement about politics #sometimes we just... wanna vibe with a setting #I am so very thoroughly exhausted from the politics in this country and where things are going I just kinda need that no brainer gameplay #even if it means working as the secret police for an emperor #even if it means replacing one dictator with another #because its still a game #a lot of people talk about imperialism-monarchy-colonialism with these things because they are a big issue even today #and they are important to talk about!! in real world!!#but I rarely see people be this upset about like religion etc which like. thats also a massive problem.#idk Im just tired of trying to look at fanart of all my fantasy medieval games and people being upset that the games #are not super anti-monarchy despite the marketing being literally 'you are the emperor's bestie. you help him out and go on a quest.'#'your quest is to manipulate local government to support the emperor and do his bidding'#like idk how That is supposed to be a game that addresses it properly #and maybe it does but ig since the MC doesnt look at the player and go REMEMBER KIDS! c!tommy is that “I know what sex is and I’m not telling you” meme that’s literally what how to sex is like i see people making how to sex memes but the actual how to sex books are way funnier bc c!tommy is incredibly sex repulsed and uneducated but pretending to know what sex is to sound cool. like the joke isn’t even that they're dirty humour- which they absolutely contain, it is tommy, but that’s secondary to the main joke which is “c!tommy very obviously hates sex and has only very basic knowledge on it but is trying to act like an authority on a subject he’s both disgusted by and unfamiliar with to seem cool.” like it’s a joke at the expense of c!tommy's toxic masculinity.

#sorry I remembered people justifying weird comments to tommy when he was a minor bc he wrote how to sex but like…#Those books were jokes about how his persona and his roleplay character based on said persona was that of an immature boy struggling with #internalised toxic masculinity and gender stereotypes despite not adhering to them at all. like. that’s the bit.#that’s always been tommy's bit like he didn’t always do it well but it’s genuinely wild that people don’t realise that the butt of the joke #is meant to be toxic masculinity when it’s absurdly exaggerated. like no tommy is very obviously joking when he acts like that

Honestly i dont like sculk spreading/corruption storylines theyre really boring with a few exceptions

#at least make it MEANINGFUL. OR AN ALLEGORY SURE #but a lot of thr timr its just like #augh... ohnoo... thr sculkk.. its spreading and taking me ovrr.... fukkkkk.....#and then its either like poof all better now or oops fuck everythinfs dead the end #i just dont think theyre cool unless they have a specific meaning #like cub's sculk arc? that was really boring man ur not even from that server and ir didnt like do anything #i mean its funny from a 'its cub' pov but aside from that ehhh..... nah......#The corruption from s1 esmp was cool however but more because it served an actual function it was a good mass server event not caused by a #specific player but instead a mass storylune and players got to interact with it in interesting ways #but also there was never the threat of oh.... noo.... the entire world will become corrupted it was more WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BIGASS PLANT #DOING HERE #and it tied into very nicely xornoth and that #esmp2 ALSO kind of had a corruption line with the fae but like.... what was that even.... i literally dint remember and i was there.....#it was boring......#oh and also owens nlsmp corruption storyline.... sigh....#there was so much potential for Sparrow and that storyline and i wish Owen had just gone 'okay i need people to roleplay as online for this #narrative' like Oli does #like u cant really do long term storytelling on what is a short term server if you arent ready to direct people and allow yourself to #control YOUR story the whole sculk spreading thing just seemed like a copout due to the server ending #where i think owen should have put his own content above what is technically true #its roleplay #like owen does roleplay well. but the difference is on the POW servers is that theres a set time and most people are on at the same time #but that just doesnt occur so much on youtube based smps and thats why i think until owen is able to direct more (outside of shared rp with #scott specifically) he's probably better suited towards streamed roleplay later edited #idk sculk storylines are boring basically they can work but only in an active server i feel #like with owens it was like 'oh fuck the sculk is spreading i have GOT to stop this!' meanwhile everyone else on the planet is like already #dead following his videos like idk man just didnt hit #there was also no specific defeat or true responce to the sculk either like ik there was the vault but idk #like overall. it was fine and i enjoyed it but thst doesnt mean i like sculk storylines

Bro I wish people would stop hating on 4bit so much, yes they have a different presidential plan but people are hating on them way to much and it feels really shitty, people just need to chill. I don’t get why but so many people hate on the Brazilians and it gets to the point where people have to remind their chats multiple times to stop. I get the fact that people disagree with some of the character choices but Jesus Christ stop harassing people, that’s how you get people to leave the server and never come back.

Unfortunate: My wife, a player in a long-running Pathfinder 2e campaign that I run, immediately clocked when I was in the middle of trying to design a DCA-inspired NPC and demanded, nay, begged for me not to go through with it. I love my wife and alas, he will be unused

Fortunate: I now have a DCA oc/ttrpg AU and I'm going to figure out how I can make things about him. His name is Celest (short for Celestial) and he's an Automaton Oracle who specializes in astrological magics and somehow has two (or more) souls stuck inside his automaton core. He's a couple hundred years old (in terms of being in his current form/life) and tends to keep to himself and away from major cities.

The fact that I went into that first conversation with Gortash completely blind and he somehow managed to be the one that almost convinced me to side with him is just wild to me. Gwydion had been incredibly resistant to anyone (even his partner) trying to get him to be just a little power-hungry, but then Gortash came along and started talk about unity and stability instead of "we're gonna be evil and rule the world" and it was working on Gwydion.

My only thought during the coronation scene was "damn, he really does know Gwydion"

#don't get me wrong i think gortash wpuld have definitely leaned into the 'let's be evil and rule together as evil overlords' thing if he'd #thought it would work #but the conversation had a definite 'oh yes let's be partners again and work to preserve the city and save it from itself' bent #and the fact that he was so sincere about legitimately wanting to be equals with gwydion again #I dunno #all of that really culminated in Gwydion not knowing what to do for the first time that playthrough #when I say he has a very strong personality I mean it. Most 'moral dilemmas' in the game weren't really dilemmas for him #perks of being a paladin #but then Gortash came along and confused all of that for him #I only really found out about their working relationship during that conversation bc I missed a bunch of stuff #so my surprise was genuine when Gortash started displaying fairly intimate knowledge of how Gwy works #I had Gwydion wear Gortash's gauntlet for a bit for roleplay reasons #he didn't remember the man but something in him hurt when that final blow was struck and he wasn't quite ready to move on yet #the dark urge #enver gortash #what's even more wild is i was headcanoning that his paladin oath (devotion) had been sworn to someone other than bhaal before #orin happened #and i could see a pre-tadpole Gwy deciding Gortash was a good person to swear that to so when Gortash #when Gortash started talking about swearing oaths to each other??#wild #absolutely wild #i did not get enough sleep and it shows #12:43 #bg3
