Hi! I have a question regarding cvs
I'm bilingual and I know that were I'm from knowing english is a plus and can maybe get me some job opportunities. However I'm still applying to jobs in my country. Should I have two cvs? Is it a good idea to have one that is in two languages?
Cutie pie, you're wonderful and any employer would be lucky to have you.
It's generally a good practice to have multiple CVs (or resumés) for multiple purposes. So if you're applying to jobs in another country, and you speak the language, write your CV in that language and list your other language under the "skills" section of the CV. Vice versa for your home country.
Being bilingual is a huge advantage in the job market. Flaunt it!

Importance of Resume Writing and How HighflySourcing Can Elevate Your Career
In today’s competitive job market, your resume is more than just a document; it’s your personal marketing tool, your professional brand’s first impression, and often your gateway to new career opportunities. Crafting a compelling resume is crucial for making a positive impact on potential employers and securing that coveted interview slot. Here’s why resume writing is so important and how HighflySourcing, a leading visa immigration consultancy, can assist you in this vital process.
Why Resume Writing Matters
1. First Impressions Count
Your resume is often the first interaction a prospective employer has with you. A well-crafted resume not only highlights your qualifications but also demonstrates your ability to communicate effectively. A clear, professional resume sets the tone for how you are perceived, making it more likely that you'll be remembered positively.
2. Showcase Your Unique Value
In a sea of job applicants, a standout resume can help differentiate you from the competition. It’s your chance to showcase your unique skills, experiences, and achievements. A tailored resume highlights what makes you an ideal candidate for a specific role, emphasizing how your background aligns with the job requirements.
3. Reflect Professionalism
A polished resume reflects your attention to detail and professionalism. Spelling errors, poor formatting, and irrelevant information can undermine your credibility. A well-organized resume demonstrates that you take your career seriously and are committed to presenting yourself in the best light.
4. Pass Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
Many companies use ATS to screen resumes before they reach human eyes. Crafting a resume with the right keywords and format can ensure it passes through these systems and lands in the hands of hiring managers. This requires a strategic approach to resume writing that considers both human and automated review processes.
5. Highlight Achievements and Skills
Your resume is an opportunity to quantify your accomplishments and skills. By highlighting measurable achievements, you can provide concrete evidence of your capabilities and the impact you’ve made in previous roles. This helps potential employers understand the value you can bring to their organization.

Employment Sunday
Hello! Time for another Employment Sunday!
I would like to briefly review some tips for working on your resume.
Make your resume ATS-friendly. As I stated last week, keep your resume as simple as possible so the Applicant Tracking System (or ATS) can not only analyze the info on your resume much easier but also parse information from your resume onto an online job application. I have nothing against using tables or trying to make your resume look nice, but leave off the tables and columns. If you want your resume to look nice...
Make it look neat and check for spelling and grammar errors. Remember that after ATS a human will see your resume, but at most for only 6 seconds or so. In that time, you'll want everything that makes you perfect for the role not only at the top of your resume but also easy to find. Bullet points and short, concise sentences are much easier to read. Also, no one wants to read a resume full of spelling errors and grammar. Be sure to double-check and don't be afraid to use Grammarly or some other spell checker. Having someone else look at your resume isn't a bad idea either.
I just copied and pasted this tip from last time, but it's still important: Use AI. While controversial, you can enter the job description into Chat GPT or another AI, enter your resume, and then ask it to revise or generate a resume matching the descriptions' keywords and phrases. You can even ask it to rate your resume based on the amount of keywords or phrases to see how well it would do against the ATS.
Next Sunday I will go over job applications, but for now, I'll leave you with this extra tip: you don't have to make your resume only one page. When applying online, you want to add as many keywords and skills from the job description as possible. Thus, it would only be beneficial if you have multiple pages not only listing your job experiences but your skills.
I hope this helps! Good luck and have a good rest of your day!

Practical Benefits of Creative Writing if You Need Some Motivation
Writing stories isn't just a hobby. It's a practice that sharpens so many skills. You'll use these skills all your life, so write that silly idea and let's start refining these talents that come from our work:
(Psst—this is where you should open that copy of your resume if you're also applying for jobs!)
Communication: You know how to use words to convey complex and simple ideas.
Emotional identification (for personal benefit, not so much standard careers): You'd be surprised how many people can't name or describe their emotions, much less make them something others can feel.
Thematic analyzation: You can find or create a common thread between wildly different people.
Community building: You can bring people together by making them feel things deeply.
Perspective shaping: You make others try on new perspectives through your characters and their challenge, which also points back to your communication skills.
Encouragement: You know how to make other people dream through your work.
Empathy: You remind readers they aren't alone in their experiences—we are all going through different versions of pain together.
Typing: Let's be real, every boss will think you're amazing if you can type with more than two fingers at a time (or with two fingers really fast!).
Time management: You're always finding ways to fit your writing into your schedule, even if it's only once a month.
Commitment: because that 100,000-word fanfic won't just appear on paper because you daydreamed about it.
Self-reliance: When you set a goal to write a story, you (mostly) finish it. All on your own!
A willingness to learn: Your editing and revising work keeps you open to growth opportunities, which is essential to being a good person/team member/employee.
Organization: Those folders with all your story ideas, character outlines, and plot arcs? That's a skill, my friend.
Creativity: You're in touch with your creative instincts, which brings vision to projects and team efforts that produce better results

Do you have any commenters on your fics that you keep an eye out for/are your favroties?
Yeah but there are so many! They've added up over time. I'm slow to warm up to others, but if these ones were to vanish from the internet, I would definitely notice. I have favorites in tiers, and these ones are just from Ao3, alone. I won't name names, but they know who they are.
There are commenters that I'm emotionally invested in. I follow them because I like knowing how they're doing as a person than a reader. They could literally stop reading and commenting and I would still interact with them. ~ I have one commenter who's been around since my first fic, made me my first fanart, and is in art school. They're working so hard and I'm rooting for their success over in my little corner. ~ Another just seems like such a chill person that I would hit a bar with if I liked public places. They're about to have a baby, and I'm very happy for them and wishing them the best. ~ I have another OG commenter who gives me amazing feedback - like, the kind that has me taking notes. They shared with me what they do for a living and they are literally the coolest person in my book. ~ There is a writer and artist who's given me good constructive criticism. I respect them, and reblog anything they make to show my support, even though its a different fandom.
Then I have a those who give me raving book reports in my comments. When their names come up in my notifs, I usually stop what I'm doing to read right away because I know its going to brighten my day. ~ One is so scholarly, and just gushes over the details I never expected readers to notice. ~ Another is so feral, and their energy just literally makes me laugh. I always look forward to their rabid comment.
And there are those that are like return customers. They come in, know their order, say a few words, and are off. I know their names, and welcome them every time. Some of them have been around for a long time. Some of them are new and have said something that stuck with me, and makes me go "Ahh it's you, again <3" whenever I see their name, and I hope they keep coming back.
I have a lot of favorite commenters on Ao3, and a few more on Tumblr, and I wonder if you're one of them, Anon.

Hey bitches! Are professional headshots a thing in like... regular jobs? My college is offering free professional headshots as part of their career services but I don't really know the point of them. Its not like you'd attach it to a resume and I'm going into business not theater or modeling. Is it worth it to get one? When would I actually use it?
Thank you!!!!
Hey kitten! Yes it is indeed worth it. Two very important points.
You're right--NEVER EVER EVER ATTACH A HEADSHOT TO A RESUME IF YOU ARE NOT IN A PERFORMANCE-BASED CAREER. Jesus Rollerblading Christ on a Fucking Cracker I cannot stress enough how gd awkward it is to evaluate a resume with a headshot attached. Don't do yourself dirty like that. Save it for the actors and models.
Professional headshots are super useful for your virtual worksona! (Worksona= persona you put on for work.) Use it as your LinkedIn profile pic! If your company uses Slack, use it as your profile pic there too. Make it your display image for your email while sending out job applications. It's not 100% necessary, but if it's free, you might as well take advantage of it.
My "professional headshot" is me in business attire and full makeup that my friend (a pro photo journalist) took of me in a local coffee shop. I've got my arms crossed and the kind of smirk-smile that says "I love the challenge of a fast-paced work environment." It's 10 years old and I don't give a shit.
