robby headcanon:
robby is terrified of introducing his girlfriend to his family. while johnny may be more tolerant now, robby still sees him as a loose canon and can’t be trusted to not embarrass him. he isn’t sure when he realizes but she hasn’t made any mention of introducing him to her family. he starts thinking about it too hard and comes to the conclusion that she is embarrassed of him. a little angst and some time passes and they both confess they have overwhelming families. reader confesses that she thought he was embarrassed of her and just to prove her wrong, he takes her to meet shannon <3
The way Robby wouldn't take her to meet Johnny because it's mostly Johnny who is overwhelming. He's not embarrassed of Reader, he's just embarrassed about the things his dad might say. Nevertheless, he doesn't want Reader to think he's embarrassed of her. It'd be so sweet for him to take her to meet his mom.
As soon as that happens, both of them feel so much better. He wants his girlfriend to feel secure in their relationship because he is 100% happy with their relationship. He just doesn't want his dad to ruin that by saying something dumb. So he takes her out to lunch with his mom or something, something sweet, something light. And the way his mom smiles and talks to Reader is so amazing. It makes Robby feel great.
After that, he'll tell Reader that she doesn't have to introduce him to her family so soon. Whenever she's ready for that, he will be too. They're taking things one step at a time when it comes to their overwhelming families.

Summary: Honestly, just the most angsty shit I've written in a while.
Genre(s): angst,angst, and more angst.

A/N: QUICK DISCLAIMERS, I made the reader adopted bc clearly Eli's/Hawk's family is white so this way the reader can be a poc if that's the case, I started this back when S4 came out and just finished it... what does that say about me? Idk. ALSO, Robby's S4 era will always be superior, Robby from S4 you will always be famous, he was unhinged, hot, a menace, and iconic, in this essay I will-

The All Valley's karate rivalry was as old as time, as strong as god's will, and in your opinion, as stupid as it sounds; not to everyone though, especially your brother, the great and mighty Hawk who loved to parade around the city with his new look that carried every piece of confidence he had, unfortunately, now that it was taken away from him, he felt worthless.
You never had a thing against any of the participating parties in this ridiculous dispute, you didn't mess with them, and they didn't mess with you, but you had a limit whenever they attacked your brother, a tiny fine line that went from 'superficial wounds' to 'profound damage' and they crossed it. More like, Robby 'cute face' Keene, crossed it. Even though there was a 98% chance that your brother had brought this on himself, he was still your brother and you'd do anything for your family.
You pushed the glass doors storming into the empty section of the building and hearing them slightly vibrate behind you, "Keene," your voice was stern, no response, "Keene!"
"Back here!" He yelled from the back room.
The stride of your heels resounded in every corner of the concrete, a strong, dominant, and potent tone that could easily make anyone even slightly fearful. And Robby Keene wasn't the exception, no matter how many times Sensei Reese and Sensei Silver prepared him to be a champion, no matter how many hours he had proven to be Cobra Kai's worthiest inheritor, no matter how much muscle mass he gained by the minute, no matter how many days he spent in prison, no matter how many people he'd fought, no matter how many kids in the valley were scared of him, everyone has a weakness, and you were one of his.
There wasn't something in this world he could hate more than that because it didn't make sense, it didn't make any fucking sense for you of all people to hold so much power over him after everything that happened, there was an evident reason behind esteeming the adults around him, some of the other students even, but you? What else were you if not a lovely face? The most beautiful thing he's ever seen in his life, he knew the answer, a little too well for his liking, and as much as he hated it, the fact that you were so out of reach made him want you more.
But he pretended, okay? Oh, he loved, adored even, to act all tough and cocky around you as if you couldn't break his entire facade into little pieces if you so much as softened your features for him, a minimal act he thought he'd never see again, and still, he'd imagined it, he'd daydream about it almost every time you were near him, which with the new tournament coming up, seeing you became more and more recurrent, and so, it didn't get easier to hate you, in fact, the more he saw you, the harder it got.
If and only if you were held at gunpoint, you'd admit that the boy was attractive, pretty even, mostly because you would be sentenced to death by your family or hanged for treason by your brother's friends, but also because confessing to like him meant confessing you liked the guy who for better or for worse, ended up in juvie, and it was something that you didn't wanna be linked with.
You didn't have to say it to know that after all, you were still genuinely captivated by his physique and attitude, the way he carried himself everywhere he went, his ability to make himself seen without saying a word, how he wasn't easy to overlook; maybe it was just you who noticed his presence so intensely, perhaps you convinced yourself the rest of the world did as well just so you wouldn't feel so pathetic by the fact that you couldn't ignore him. And in the attempt to make your life easier and 'problem-free' by neglecting your feelings, it backfired by raising the complicity lever of your desires.
"What can I do for you, Princess?" he didn’t bother to turn around perhaps you’d go quickly so he didn’t have to train his self-control, not again.
If you were in a different mood, you would've rolled your eyes at the little nickname you despised so much, he gave it to you not only to point out that your economical status was clearly higher than his, but also to remind the 10-month-old age gap between you and your brother, a small amount of time that doomed your life to always be put under him, to your family, he was going to grow to be a King, the one who was gonna inherit every important part of their heritage, and you were stuck to be only that, a Princess.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't put your ass back in jail?" You fumed, irritation blurring out your judgment.
"Because legally, I did nothing wrong, and even if I did, you have no proof of it," he grinned.
"Then explain to me what the hell is wrong with you?!” you spun him by his shoulder,  “You really thought you could just casually shame my brother by cutting his hair and I wouldn't come here to defend him?!"
"You mean the same hair that made him think he could be a bully?" he remained calm.
"You know damn well I never agreed with that," you spat, "Do I need to remind you he was suspended for a week because I went to the principal? And regardless of that, you wanna complain about him making others feel less with violence while you do the same?" you scoffed,  "Wow," you stated with sarcasm.
"It's hair, it'll grow back,"
"You humiliated him! You made him nothing! Not to mention you used a barber's blade, idiot, did you think about how fucking dangerous that was? You could've seriously injured him if he made the wrong move!"
"I warned him, good thing he knows how to listen, he’s not as stupid as he looks," he taunted you more.
You shook your head, "You're gonna listen to me Keene, and you're gonna listen to me very carefully," you got close to him, "If you even so much as breathe in his direction before the tournament, I will end you,"
He chuckled, "Is that supposed to be a threat?"
"No, only cowards like you and your minions make threats, mine is a promise,"
"I'm not a coward," he clenched his jaw holding back the increasing anger.
You laughed, and somehow said more than words could.
"Says the one who came here when it was all alone knowing that if it wasn't, you would've gotten your ass beaten,"
"By who? Your little friend who's on probation?” you tilted your head with an arrogant smirk, “No, you see, I came here at this time because I'm smart, I mean let's be honest, you've never done anything to hurt me and you never will, because… well," you raised your shoulders feeding the fire in his eyes.
"So what? Do you want me to hurt you to prove that I'm not?" he towered over you.
You nodded, "Yes," you took another step towards him, "But then again, you don't want me to win, do you? Because if you hurt me, then that means you care about what I think,”  your voice got slower, “and what would that say about you? True winners don't have to prove anything to anyone but themselves, that's the difference between all of you and me," you separated from him slightly, "But go ahead, make my day and land the first punch,"
He froze in his place processing your words and just barely he noticed he missed your closeness, he couldn't bring himself to do so, pushing down the consuming rage that, later on, would show up stronger when Silver and Kreese find out about this encounter.
"That's what I thought," you scrunched your nose,  "You karate nerds are so stupid, who needs to get physical when you have words?" you told more to yourself, and right when you were about to make, what you considered, a triumphal exit, your arm got yanked, your chest hit him, and your faces were less than an inch away, "What are you doing?" you whispered.
The vulnerability of your words and the fragility of your look melted him, for a split second he lost track of his purpose, but it wasn't until he remembered your words that he snapped out of the trance, "Hurting you," he whispered back before placing your lips on his.
It didn't take long for his action to hitch your respiration, stun your nerves, fill your veins with adrenaline, whisk your logic, and for you to correspond. It was embarrassingly quick if to be completely honest, but it didn't matter, frankly, you were so unashamed of it that your hands slipped behind his neck pushing the two of you impossibly closer. It was hungry, desperate, and frantic; you finally understood Adam and Eve no matter how much you hated religion, finally comprehended the temptation of the forbidden fruit, sweet, delicious, and addictive.
Instinctively, he gently pushed you against the nearest wall and you felt his fingers getting lost in your hair, "I don't need to use a lot of strength to hurt you," he pulled you away trying to recover his breath, "I'm gonna hurt your pride by making you moan my name,"
"Easy there, snake boy," you managed to gasp out as you trailed your fingertips fastidiously along his jawline whilst slightly lifting his chin, "What makes you think you won't moan mine," you weren't ready to let your guard down, not yet, you then switched positions holding his shoulders against the cement. In an act of pure selfishness, you softly cupped his face somewhat catching him off guard, his nose brushed yours as your top lip created contact that was so minimal it could almost be imperceptible, "Nice try,  Keene, but unfortunately for you, I don't fuck losers," you mumbled, although you could've said it in a more impactful tone, you knew, you knew that the intimacy of it all would make your words burn into the very depths of his soul.
You walked out of the Dojo quite easily with him as perplexed as a Marmol statue, the catch was having to drive around the city to cool off your system and release the tension of it all. However, it didn't work, not even a little bit, not even at all, your mind played every different scenario of the continuation of your reckless actions, it was your fault, and you had to accept it, you went to face him knowing damn well how you felt for him, you went knowing damn well he wouldn't just back down easily, knowing he would've put up a fight one way or another, you knew deep inside you, you knew this could happen, you wanted it to happen.
It was inevitable, your brother was just the perfect excuse and you used it, you took advantage of it, you abused it even, he begged you not to do anything and you didn't care enough to listen, you just had to see him, you had to confront him after almost a year of holding back.
You met him while he was still working for the LaRussos, Daniel and your mom had known each other since college, so whenever they began a conversation, no one could stop them or be part of it; on that occasion, you two were invited for dinner, you brother naturally skipped it, but you were forced to go. You couldn't really complain, Sam was nice company at times, and you would mostly gossip about school or complain about teachers, nothing too deep; however, it even amazed you how rapidly you connected with Robby. Was your entire conversation from that night centered on making fun of the adults? Yeah, but you couldn't stop cackling the entire time. After that, whenever you saw each other you two resumed that same chemistry, constantly coming up with inside jokes or witty comments regarding your family, friends, possible love interests, etc. It then patiently evolved into a solid friendship by revealing heavy details of both of your lives; other types of sentiments involved or not, there was a time when all you had was each other.
But the school fight changed everything, Hawk had a personal vendetta against the person who put one of his best friends in a coma, and you... you were scared, not furious, not bitter, just terrified. Of him, your brother and his friends, Sam, everyone that had to go through the aftermath of it all; you burned all of those bridges, gasoline and everything, changed schools in a different part of town, shut down that part of your life. You couldn't afford to give your family another reason to put you under.
"Y/N,  could you stop procrastinating and do something productive?” your mother interrupted your thinkings, “I gotta take this call, take care of them for a minute," she pointed at the waiters.
"Oh, yeah, sure, I- I'll watch them," you answered.
She stepped away.
You huffed scanning the restaurant your family proudly called theirs, it was a second home, warm, comfy, filled with known people, and although you couldn’t make sense of it, you’d always perceived the hazy calmness through the chaos.
There was something hardly recognizable besides the door, at first glance your eyes overlooked it, but as you double-checked your body tensed and your eyes widened so much you were sure they were gonna pop out, he was here.
The last time he showed up at the business was the night before the incident, your parents had conveniently gone to a business dinner and your brother had no intentions on getting out of the house with his hangover, and like every other time he'd been there, you two would steal food from the kitchen, go up to the rooftop and talk about nothing and everything.
Flashback
"And now Mr. LaRusso doesn't wanna have anything to do with me," his voice weakened.
"Oh my god, Robby," you wasted no time in hugging him tightly, "I'm sorry,"
He nuzzled in the crook of your neck sparking something in your gut, you never failed to react to the crumbs of intimacy you always had. His eyes began to water, tears falling into your shirt.
"It's okay, it's okay," you comforted him, both of your torsos gently swinging.
"It hurts so much," he sniffled, "Why does it hurt so much?" it might've sounded a little too melodramatic, perhaps absurd, but he wasn't afraid to be like that, vulnerable, not with you, you never gave him a reason to be.
You pursed your lips, your throat was dry, you were speechless although you'd never been the quiet type, and all you could do was hold him even tighter, a subtle yet relevant symbolism that reminded you that was the closest you could get.
"Why does everyone always leave?" he let the question settle into the breeze although it felt more personal.
It broke you to see him like this, no pain you've ever felt was comparable to seeing he whom you love miserable, there was nothing else you could do but be there, though you didn't think it was nearly as enough as what he needed, "I- I don't know," you couldn't tell if you were lucky to have never experienced such experience, or misfortunate to not have said wisdom to heal him. You cautiously cupped his face, as if one of your movements could hurt him more, he was like stained glass, complicated, fractured, fragile, and yet, his cracks and colors made him the most beautiful soul you’ve ever met "I won't leave you," you ran your thumbs through his cheeks, drying the small showings of his pain.
"You promise?"
"I promise,"
End of flashback
You tried not to draw too much attention to yourself while jogging towards the entrance, "What the hell are you doing here?" you blurted out.
"I wanna talk to you," he seemed happy, probably because of how fearful you, on the other hand, were.
"You- you can't be here right now, I'm not messin' around," you shook your head, you had to react as discreetly as possible.
"Why? Your brother isn't here,"
"It's not just my brother, okay? My family will kill you on sight, please, listen to me," you grabbed his shoulders, "We can't talk, not here,"
"Where then?"
"I-" you looked around making sure your mom was still in her office, "Do we really have to do this right now?" you insisted.
"Yes," he stated firmly.
You pinched the bridge of your nose, "Okay, come on," you pulled his hand with a strength that wasn't necessary.
You entered the tiny meetings room on the other side of the establishment, because of your dad's usual tantrums, it didn't have a camera and it was sound-proofed; you made sure to lock the door and turn off the light so it wouldn't be visible from the bottom of the wood.
"Okay, make it quick, I need to get back to my mom," your words were rushed and stumbling with each other.
"You truly are terrified of your parents aren't you?" he crossed his arms.
"I don't have time for this Robby-"
"Thought I was 'Keene',"
You only began to call him that after in consequence of the Karate outrage, his first name felt too personal, too close.
You shut your eyes in frustration, "Can you stop being an ass for a second and get to the point of whatever it is that you wanna talk about?"
"Why are you so nervous about me being here?" he continued to tease, truth is, he wasn't sure what he was doing there in the first place, all he knew was that here he was, with you.
"It doesn't matter, just- start talking," you pressured.
"Why are you so nervous about me being here?" he repeated.
Your fingers twitched, a manner you developed out of stress, "Because if they see me with you, I'll never hear the end of it, okay?" you fidgeted then with your jewelry.
"If you never wanna be caught in a lie I suggest you stop doing the ring thing," he pointed out, "It makes it easy to tell,"
You halted the action and then shrugged.
"Why are you so nervous about me being here?"
"Because they already filed a restraining order against you, I guess you didn't get it because you're here, but if they call the cops you'll probably end up in juvie and I don't want- If you ever wanna go back to school or get a job is gonna be incredibly difficult,"
He assumed at first you didn't wanna be seen with him because of how much you cared about the reputation of your new life, a valid perspective given how much you made an effort to conceal it all, but hearing you enlightened him, sore him "Don't look at me like that," a small part of his grudge came out.
"Like what?"
"Like you still care about me,"
A choked laugh resounded from your part, "First of all, I'm not apologizing for that, and second-"
"You should," his demeanor abruptly became more defensive.
You tilted your head, "Why?" your energy matched his.
"Because you don't care about me, and acting like you do is very hypocritical of you,"
"When have I ever told you that I don't care about you?" you frowned.
"You don't have to say it, you already proved it,"
"How so?"
"Don't play the innocent part now," he was close to losing his cool,  "You try so hard to hide everything that happened but at even the slightest inconvenience, you go right back where you started, tell me, do your mommy and daddy know you went to see me two days ago? Huh? Or let me guess, you were too scared to tell them?"
"Oh, fuck off Keene, is that all you got? Is that the only thing that you think will affect me? My parents? My reputation?"
"Yes! Because that's the only thing you care about! You're nothing but a self-centered spoiled brat that doesn't know any better than to run away from her problems! You wanna know who the real coward is here? You are! Some of us don't have the privilege of a new start! Keep pretending all you want, but don't forget, I was your friend and you turned your back on me, I wasted my one phone call on you because you were the only person I had, and you hung up on me like I was nothing! Tell me, how am I supposed to be the coward if I'm the one who got hurt because of your selfishness?! You don't care about anyone but yourself!" as much as he attempted to divert the subject of the conversation, his eyes sabotaged him, quickly covering his face in a salty heartbreaking liquid. "You... you weren't there-"
You were both stunned by his reaction, you'd think that with everything he's been put through, he wouldn’t snap so easily, so passionately, so emotionally, but no, all of this was a new part of himself that only you made him feel, he’d only allowed you to do so.
"I needed you! I needed you! And you weren't there! And- and then the first time you say anything to me after I got out-"
If there's something he had while being in juvie was time, precious time he'd spent weaving, machinating; about you, about his dad, about the LaRusso's, about Miguel, about him. Strategizing his next encounter with the world was arduous, but the action of going through with it was the true challenge, and he realized how useless all that time truly was when he heard your voice the first time, suddenly all of it was gone, the effort, the time, the sleepless nights, the daydreaming noons, all of it, turned into nothing, you turned them into nothing.
"I was happy," he exhaled like freeing himself of chains and shackles, "I was so happy, and I enjoyed seeing you mad so fucking much, seeing you in general," he laughed, "I tried to-" he choked on his words, "I tried to hate you so much because you bailed on me but I can't," every inch him began to feel... lighter, "I can't hate you," he sighed, "I- I just can’t,”
Your body didn’t allow you to move, roughly grounding you, vines of regret holding you hostage against soothing him, stopping him, following him outside, responding coherently to your family’s screams, to forget.  You’d lost count of how many days you’d feel as you were still glued to the wooden floor, completely stuck, dried-out blossoms of hope from your heart, rageful deep thorns clinging to your debilitated frame, daunting poison sinking your head.
—How many times?—
How many times would you have to come up with every pretentious and overly-thought narrative to justify everything? You’ve been silenced by your reluctance, aghast by your idealization, confined by your denial, triggered by tension, frozen by your guilt, and finally steered by resentment.
You stared at the faint reflection from the glass, you wanted to immortalize the picture, hair slightly out of place, tugged at clothes, blood burst out of the skin, purple underneath the large organ, nostrils flowing with the lack of air, mouth agape.
—Why?—
You prepared yourself for the question before anyone else asked it.
—Why was protecting Robby’s honor against someone as irrelevant as Natalie Dalmasos worth it?—
You noticed your knuckles finally matching your brother’s.
—He’s never even met her—
Your stomach sunk as if releasing all the ire and digesting it as dread.
—Was it worth it?—
Hammering head.
—Did she deserve it?—
Striking heart.
—You screwed up everything you built—
Trembling legs.
—What did you do?—
Numbed face.
—Why destroy it?—
Streaking neck.
—Why him?—
Overwhelmed.
Then reality came back.
—Shit—
You reached for your phone, quickly texting your mother the first perfectly constructed lie you could think of, you had to disappear at least for tonight, eventually relieved by her believing your sleepover story, you started the car.
—Where else would you go?—
You blankly saw the infamous logo, the white clearness hiding the inside, you took a shaky breath and struggled to get yourself inside the walls, you didn’t have to make yourself known by words, the heavy door did all the work filling it with creaks against the floor for it being poorly moved.
You saw him cautiously walk out of the dark.
“Robby,” you let out a soft smile.
He frowned as you gradually got nearer.
“I- I um-” you gulped, “I just got into a fight, the party- I-,” there was now a lightbulb over your head.
He rushed, “Y/N, holy shit,”
“I- I’m fine, I swear,” you chuckled.
“Fine?! You look like shit!”
“You should see the other guy,” you joked
He shrugged, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to say it like that, I’m just-,”
“Shocked?” you interrupted him, “Surprised? Amazed? Astonished? Stunned? fucking… every other synonym there is?”
He nodded still scanning your body, “Come on, let’s get you cleaned up,” he placed one of your arms on his shoulder to then swiftly carry you bridal style to his mattress. You tilted your head observing the side of his jaw.
“I never noticed you had a scar there,” you whispered.
“One of many of my mom’s bad boyfriends,”
“I’m sorry,” you delicately traced it.
He smiled, “It’s okay,”
You were laid down rather dramatically, or so you thought by the way he treated you like you were made out of paper, you just rolled your eyes and sat up while he went to get the first aid kit.
“This is gonna hurt,” he wet the cotton.
You scoffed, “Relax Robby, I’m a big girl, this isn’t my first drill,”
“Right,” he nodded.
You lowly hissed when the chemical made contact.
“Thought this wasn’t your first drill,” he teased.
“Okay, just because I’ve been hurt before doesn’t mean it’s not painful,” you both laughed, “I can still handle it,”
The rest of the cleaning went somewhat silent, just a few mumbled sorries were thrown around, but by the time he had pulled out the bandages, you grew impatient.
“You’re not gonna ask?” you broke the ice.
“Not really,” he admitted.
“Why?”
“Because,” he raised his shoulders, “It’s too late to go and make ‘em pay for it,”
“Oh god, please don’t, I already did that,”
“What do you mean?” he began to wrap your hand.
“I’m the one who started the fight because they were talking shit,”
“What kind of shit?”
“All kinds, throwing rumors and just- bullshit,”
“About who?”
You licked your lips.
—Really? Now you go silent? You’re already here, fuck it—
“About you,”
“What?” he tightened the cloth too much.
“Ow,”
“Sorry, sorry,” he let go.
“Yeah,” you confessed, “They were talking shit about you and I shut them up,”
“Who?” he was still confused.
“Some girl from my school who thinks she’s fucking… Regina George or somethin’, she’s just a bitch,” you shook your head.
“Why?”
—Why?—
You grabbed his face, and gave him the most mellow and honeyed eyes you’ve ever had, “You haven’t figured that one out yet, have you?” you joined your foreheads as you closed your eyes, “You’re not the smart one out of us anyway,” you heard him giggle.
He brushed his nose with yours, shyly getting closer.
—Are you sure?—
—Yeah—
—Fuck it—
You kissed him for the first time, but held on to it like it was the last, how was it that you could say everything with just that? The most disarming and humble expression there is; the touch of two epidermises, and the completion of dual fantasies. You almost blubber in it, oh sacchariferous little poison of yours, worth every penny, every dime, every tear, every scream, and every dream.
He paused, taking a deep breath, yet never breaking contact.
You sobbed, “I love you,” you dried his cheeks.
“I love you too,” he whimpered.

robby thought it would be easy to move on from his past love. he tried everything in the books, at first he thought it would be impossible to move on. but when he met you, robby thought his feelings for sam would finally disappear.
but he was wrong. it only made him yearn for sam even more.
robby was your first real boyfriend, you were over the moon when he asked you out, you weren’t expecting karate experienced so when he did ask you out it was a surprise.
even after being friends for all these years it was still weird. but, it worked out in the end.
at least that’s what you thought.
for the first few months it was everything you could have ever dreamt of. the perfect boyfriend and friends. but nearing the end of the year, robby connected with sam again and began creating distance between the two of you. you tried your best to pit up with it, but one night a few weeks before the new year he finally ended things with you.
“did you ever love me? that’s all i need to know.” you croaked. he frowned, “of course i did. i still love you, but i’m in love with sam.” you nodded, looking down. you knew you’d never be able to fill her shoes. “thank you for being honest.” tears fell from your eyes as you looked away. feeling the pain in your chest growing. he pulled you close, letting your tears soak on his shirt.
“i never want you to doubt your worth, y/n. you deserve the best and i can’t give that you.” he rubbed you back softly. hushing your sobs.
“y/n” he pulled away, raising your chin with his thumb so you’d look at him. “loving you these past few months has been the most rewarding time of my life. don’t ever doubt that” he wiped your tears gingerly. you hummed, “i know. just promise me one thing, robby.” “what’s that?” “promise we will still be friends? i don’t think i can go on without you in my life.”
his expression softened. “of course i will still be in your life. i could never leave you.” he pressed a kiss between your eyebrows. “i will always love you, y/n/n. that will never change. i just can’t love you the way i love sam. i’m so sorry”

Headlights with a Red String (1/?)
Tumblr media
(Unedited) (Soulmate Au!, Red String Au!, Mentions of past relationships Robby/Sam & Robby/Tory, Kinda angst because it’s Robby, Robby being negative as hell because of his mom.) (Will Cross-Post on AO3)
Robby Keene learned one thing as a young child, something that stuck to him his whole life. It was something small that only stuck to him because it worked. Most people didn’t even give it a second thought. But people like Robby needed that one thing to keep living. The one thing he could hold on to that always seemed to get him out of every situation.
Suck it up and smile like you mean it even when you don’t.
When Robby was six he watched his mom scratch at her pinky uncontrollably while sitting on their crappy couch. His tiny eyes followed her odd movements, watching her roll her eyes for a minute or two. Nails working on her pale skin until it was pink and red. She chewed on her lip as she almost seemed to claw at her skin. Her freshly manicured nails dig into the flesh of her finger like no tomorrow. It was almost like she was trying to rip away at something her could not see but she could.
“Mommy what are you doing? Does your finger hurt?” Robby said quickly as he rounded the corner of the couch and climbed up. Sitting next to him mom. She sighed before briefly stopping her assault on her digit. Looking over at him she gave only a half smile to him.
“Sometimes mommies finger hurts because of her red string is all.”
Robby blinked at her with his big hazel-green eyes. He has no idea what his mommy was talking about. He looked down at her finger and saw no such thing. No red string attached to her finger.
“Are you playing a game? I don’t see a string. I want to play!” His voice was filled with childlike wonder.
“No Sweety it’s not a game. Mommy has a red string attached to her finger that is attached to her soulmate. Only me and my soulmate can see it and feel it. When you turn ten you will get one too.”
“Mommy what’s a soulmate?” Robby asked in wonder. The word sounded so weird to him. It sounded cool, kinda funny too. Soulmate.
Shannon looked over to her son and watched as he looked up at her in glee. Blond locks pushed to the side behind her ear. Sighing she looked at the boy replying back in a slightly sad tone “ A soulmate is someone special. Someone who is made to be with you, a perfect match. They stick with you forever. They love you, care for you, trust you and forever support you. You can make a life with them.” Looking down at the hand she was previously scratching at.
A sad expression crossed her face “When you turn ten a red string will appear on your pinky. Only you will be able to see it along with your soulmate. It wraps around your finger and connects to your soulmate’s finger, somewhere out there is your soulmate. Your stings connect. When your close…there is a wonderful feeling and you will just know that person is close.”
Robby nodded as he looked at his own hands in awe. His eyes sparkled, his tiny hands where bare if any string at the moment. Now he was excited to get his very own string. He wanted a new friend! His mommy made it sound so good to have a “soulmate” and he wondered how he would meet them. How they where, would they like him, would he like them. So many questions flooded his mind all at once.
“Is daddy your soulmate mommy?” He said out loud wondering if that was why he was here. That had to be the case. If soulmates where made for each other then daddy had to be mommy’s soulmate!
“No honey he’s not… mommy just settled.” She spoke with no feeling. All emotion was void from her voice as she spoke. Her eyes where drawn away, staring at the wall like she was almost hypnotized by it. It was nothing but a blank scratched up wall in front of her.
Robby felt cold all of a sudden.
“Mommy never meet her soulmate. Sometimes you don’t meet your soulmate so you just settle like mommy did.”
That was the day he would look back on and remember randomly. It was something he never forgot and stuck to him. It was constantly at the back of his mind. Eating away at him as he started to grow older as time went by.
That’s why when he turned ten and his red string appeared, his mind was other places.
He never talked to his mom about it, ever. It was a closed away conversation that was never discussed between the two.
He was settled in the idea of just “settling” at some point.
Soulmates where overrated anyway.
At least that was what he felt like by the time he was in highschool. His dating life was average if not slightly lacking. He didn’t date until his senior year and so far that had been a nightmare. Sam wasn’t his soulmate by a long shot and she seemed to treasure her red string. He knew that even if they did stay together besides the whole Miguel thing that she would ultimately leave him. Her dream of finding her soulmate was way to big to let go of it for him.
She wasn’t willing to “settle” like he would for her.
Tory was the second girl he had ever dated, she was his backbone for the longest time. Their relationships was wonderful for months as they enjoyed each others time. They spent hours talking and hanging out. For a while it felt like they where a real couple. Tory made him feel so good, so cared about and loved. But soon enough after months of dating they both realized that they where better as friends.
They realized that the relationship was more of a friends with benefits. More best friends that occasionally fucked every now and then. It was a peaceful break up, both staying friends.
Tory didn’t care about strings just as much as Robby did. She was forced on settling as well. She said her string has been long for a while, she never felt it get tight or start to shrink. Unlike Robby she did think it was over all neat to read about. She told him all kind of facts about the red strings of fate attached to their fingers.
Some people said it burned when their soulmate was close. Some said they could see some kind of pulse go though the think thread.
“You know one chick, during WW2 said that she felt her soulmate get shot on the battlefield. Turns out she meet him because she was a field nurse. She claimed she knew he was a soldier at that very moment. Weird right.” Her voice was filled with skepticism as she read though a article on her phone. Her eyes trailing up and over to look at him
“Yeah sure I guess….” He didn’t bother to look over at her and kept scrolling though his own phone.
He had never felt anything like what Tory described. Maybe at some point he felt a small tug but that was all. Nothing serious enough to grab his attention ever happened so he just put it to the side. On rare occasions would look at the string. When he was awake at night laying in bed, to awake to fall asleep. Her would trace the thread with his index finger for a while. It felt a little warm at times, sometimes it was slightly cold. It swayed and moved in the wind when he was outside.
When he was younger he thought he could knot it up but he couldn’t. The red string magical unknotted itself and hung limp on his finger. Looping around the pinky in a vice but hanging gently in the air. Deep down in his heart he did wonder about the other person on the other end. Did they feel the same way he did about the stupid string? Did they try to find him? He didn’t try to find them.
He felt just a tad bit of guilt on that part. Maybe they WHERE looking for him by now. Most soulmates where the same age if not a few years younger or older then each other. It was rare to be decades apart.
He would throws his hand down onto his blanket and roll over. Stuffing his face into the pillow and try to simply not think to hard about it. Choosing to try and sleep to block out those thoughts. It was like a unending cycle for the Keene boy. Unending loneliness and a negative outlook on just about everything that came to mind with soulmates.
His attitude only changed a little when he talked to Daniel.
“You know I never thought I would meet Amanda you know. When I was younger I was so excited about dating just about anyone. I knew Ali wasn’t the one right off the bat but I liked her so much that it didn’t really matter. But then we broke up and I didn’t seem to matter anymore. It was sad but still, I fell back on the idea that there was still someone I was fated to be with out there. Then I meet Amanda and it was just different. I still to this day can’t describe how it felt when I first laid eyes on her. Our strings pulled us together and it was just like magic.” He said looking to the sunset outside the dojo fence.
They both sat on the deck of dojo, watching the Sun slowly set into the hills.
Robby felt strange in that moment and he couldn’t help but ask “ So in the long road, it was worth it not to settle?” His eyes looked in the same direction as Daniel’s.
Daniel raised a brow and a looks of sadness crossed his face for only a split second.
“It was definitely worth it Robby.”
They both sat there for a good hour just watching the sun go down.
Maybe just maybe he could wait a bit longer to see what happened.
He still had time to see if his soulmate every made a appearance.

Tumblr media
Y/N wasn’t expecting a knock on his door at half past nine that evening. The boy was already in his pyjamas, sitting watching Shameless whilst curled up on his bed. His best friends, Demetri and Eli were out celebrating the latter’s victory, Miguel was MIA and Sam was taking some time to process everything, so after an overall disappointing All Valley for Miyagi-Do, Y/N was planning on relaxing as much as he could before the next Cobra Kai attack. When the knock came, the boy didn’t know whether to be confused, concerned or on guard. Pausing the TV and exhaling steadily to calm his apprehension, Y/N wandered towards the door, sliding the lock across and opening it steadily into the darkening dusk.
“Robby?” Y/N's former best friend was the last person he expected to see at his door. Since Robby joined Cobra Kai, the two had barely spoken. As Y/N was a member of Miyagi-Do, tensions were already high, but the divide was only furthered by Robby stepping back and pretty much cutting all contact with his best friend after getting out of juvie. Sure, the two had seen each other earlier that day at the tournament, but no words were exchanged, just awkward and prolonged eye contact that they tried their best to hide.
Now, Robby stood outside Y/N’s front door, his eyes red and dark and sadder than Y/N had ever seen them. He looked nervous, skittish, as though he was on enemy soil even though he’d been to the boy’s house hundreds of times through the course of their friendship. “Hi,” Robby finally breathed after the two just stared at each other for a moment. “I’m sorry for just showing up, you probably don’t want to see me.” “Have you been crying?” Y/N questioned as the light from his house illuminated his best friend’s face. Robby didn’t answer, but from the way his lip quivered and his eyes began watering, Y/N knew he was spot on. All of the resentment that the last few months had built up between the two was torn down in an instant upon seeing Robby cry on the doorstep of his best friend’s house, and Y/N was quick to surge forwards, wrapping the boy in his arms.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N,” Robby’s voice was muffled as he sobbed into the fabric of his hoodie. “I didn’t mean for any of this to happen, I just wanted it all to be over.” “It’s okay, Rob. I understand,” the h/c haired boy soothed, lacing his fingers in the back of Robby’s hair softly in comfort and pulling him impossibly closer, wanting to make up for so much lost time in one hug.
It had been a painful few months for both of the boys without each other. Having spent almost every day together since they were five years old, it was difficult spending so much time apart so suddenly, especially due to the stupid karate rivalry neither of them wanted anything to do with in the first place. Especially since feelings of Y/N’s were starting to resurface that he had refused to feel since he was twelve years old– feelings for Robby that went deeper than just friendship. Juvie and Robby joining Cobra Kai had thrown a spanner in the works, not that anything had actually been working, as Y/N was adamant Robby didn’t know about any of his feelings, let alone return them. It hadn’t helped that Robby had only become more attractive over the last few months, and even when he was crying into his best friend’s arms, Y/N couldn’t deny that his best friend was gorgeous.
“Hey, it’s cold out here. Let’s go inside, hm?” Y/N whispered, pulling away gently and earning a nod from Robby. The green eyed boy sniffed gently, following his best friend through the familiar walls of his house until they reached his bedroom. The TV had gone idle at this point, so Y/N just pressed the off button before throwing the remote to one side and taking a seat on the corner of the bed, Robby following suit. “It’s been so long since I’ve been here,” Robby pointed out, gesturing towards the newly painted walls and the reordered furniture. “Yeah,” Y/N nodded in agreement, “I really missed you.” “I really missed you, too,” Robby said, his lips twitching into the faintest of smiles before falling again. “I’m sorry I messed everything up.”
Y/N went to protest, to pull Robby into another hug, but the boy pulled away and dipped his head in shame. “I never cared about Kreese. I never cared about any of this karate shit. I mean, I cared about Sam, I cared about my dad, but I never cared about anything as much as I care about you. And I fucked all of it up.” Wiping his eyes aggressively, Robby refused to meet Y/N’s gaze. “You didn’t fuck everything up, Robby. I’m still here, I swear,” Y/N tried, placing his hand over the green eyed boy’s where it rested on his bed. “You just wanted to stop fighting with your dad, and with Sam, I understand that-” “You don’t,” Robby cut off his best friend in a soft, frail voice. “You don’t understand. I thought I wanted that, but really,”-- his voice quivered as he spoke– “I never wanted anybody but you.”
Y/N’s lips parted in shock, unsure of what he had just heard. Finally, Robby dared to glance upwards, to be met by the confused gaze of his best friend. “You’re the most important thing to me, Y/N,” he spoke softly. “I’m so sorry I lost sight of that.” The h/c haired boy shook his head gently; “Rob, I don’t know what you mean.” “You don’t know what you mean to me?” Robby clarified, and Y/N shook his head, unsure of what to say. “Can I show you?” Robby asked, scooting closer ever so gently. When Y/N nodded, Robby cupped his hand gently to his cheek. When the boys’ lips met, it tasted slightly of salt from the tears on Robby’s cheeks, but mainly of unspoken love that had been brewing these last few months. “I’m crazy for thinking you’d ever forgive me, let alone so soon,” Robby whispered as he pulled back. “But I really wanted you to know.” “I’ve never wanted anybody but you, either,” Y/N cut in, resting his forehead against Robby’s and wiping the tears from his cheeks. “You’re crazy if you think I’m letting you get away from me again. And I promise you, we’re going to fix all of this. Together. You and me.” “It’s always been you and me,” Robby whispered in agreement, a real smile falling onto his lips for the first time in months.

the greatest gift of all
for @dull-c @cksecretsanta23
summary: it's johnny's first christmas with robby and he's determined to make it okay. he ends up at daniel's house for christmas.
A/N: this was so fun to write and i'm very excited for you to read this! apologies it took a little longer than expected and was slightly rushed, but nonetheless, merry christmas and happy holidays!
Tumblr media
Johnny Lawrence didn’t know what to expect. It was his first Christmas with Robby - finally after all of these years - and all he wanted was to not screw it up. He was notorious for ruining everything in his life, so why would Christmas be the exception? He needed this to go over okay. After the last tournament, they had been better. Good, even. Part of that he attributed to Daniel and his good influence - even as hard as that was to admit. Johnny knew the mistakes he made and the irreversible damage they caused, but he was determined to fix it. Bandaids don't fix bullet holes after all.
Everything was set up to be good, mediocre in the least. Until his power went out, he cursed out the tenant upstairs, almost got into a fight, and burnt the only edible food he had in his kitchen. Breathe in, breathe out, assess the damages. There was a method to his madness, as difficult as it was to see what that method was. He glanced at his watch. There were only 20 minutes until Robby was supposed to be over and there was no way he could host anymore. Hell, even the skinny tree in the corner was falling apart and had no lights to cover it up with.
And that’s how Johnny Lawrence and his son ended up on Daniel LaRusso’s doorstep on Christmas night.
“Come on in, John. Hey Robby, how are you?” Daniel greeted them as he opened the front door and led them inside.
“Thanks for having us, Mr. LaRusso,” Robby answered and shook his hand. Johnny rolled his eyes, both in embarrassment and jealousy. Over the phone with Daniel, Daniel had insisted it wasn’t a problem at all to have them. Johnny disagreed, but what other choice did he have? His plans were already ruined anyway and he wasn’t succumbing to Robby going back to Shannon’s alone for Christmas. Robby didn’t mind the change of scenery - God, his politeness and patience were surely not inherited from his father. Johnny couldn’t seem to mind as long as this all got smoothed out and Robby had a good night.
The LaRusso’s front room was decked out in bright white lights and greenery. Smooth jazz music erupted from the corner, along Amanda quickly adjusted the sound. Johnny peered down one of the hallways, noticing they took the phrase “deck the halls” a little too literally. It was impressive, honestly.
Amanda approached the pair and was quick to shake their hands. “It’s very nice to see you both,” she told them, lingering slightly at Johnny. Maybe it was the maternal instinct in her to know when something was wrong, but she definitely sensed tension with Johnny. Johnny tightly smiled at her until she walked away to the kitchen, trying to make himself seem put together.
He turned back towards Robby who was taking in the decorations. “Sorry again, Robby. If that jackass upstairs hadn’t tried to light three trees at once, we wouldn’t be here.” Robby looked up at him, confused.
“It’s okay, Dad. Really.” He let out a breath of relief. Being addressed as ‘Dad’ was new to him and a foreign concept, but it warmed his heart every time he heard it. “I’m gonna say hi to Sam if that’s okay,” Robby said with a small smile. He waved him off and patted his shoulder as he walked past and down the decked hall. He was proud of his son for following in his footsteps in that way; arguably one of the good traits he inherited. For their sake, he hoped it would work out this time.
“Well, merry Christmas Johnny!” Daniel exclaimed, sneaking up out of nowhere on him. “Mi casa es su casa. Wait, do you know what that means? I know you’re with Miguel a lot but-”
“I’m not an idiot, Daniel. I passed Spanish in high school, thanks to Ali’s homework.” Daniel chuckled, putting his hand on Johnny’s shoulder.
“And look how far that got you. Make yourself at home, John. Dinner’s almost ready. I don’t have any Coors Banquet, but you can pick your poison.” Daniel presented him with his bar cart, fully stocked with a large variety of alcohol. Johnny mumbled back a thanks and cracked open a beer.
“If I didn’t know better,” Johnny started, pausing to take a swig out of his bottle. “I’d say you were an alcoholic.”
“And what do you think the cause of that would be?”
“Bullshit, LaRusso.”
“You’re telling me!” Johnny rolled his eyes at Daniel’s remark. The pair was on better terms now, but those terms still weren’t good . Acquaintances with a past, at most. Either way, Johnny was ready for this night to be over. Daniel led them into the kitchen (which was still, ridiculously decorated) and helped Amanda finish up dinner. Johnny found himself examining their family photos on the mantle and the walls. The most he had was Robby’s soccer picture from God knows how many years ago. He secretly wished for what LaRusso had. The perfect family, the perfect mentor, the perfect life . Aside from his part in it, of course. He’d never admit to it aloud, but he felt its presence everywhere. In everything he did, he realized the weight of the things he’d done and how hard they were to fix. But he was working on it. Trying had to count for something.
Robby, Sam, and Anthony eventually came down from the hall and sat to eat the five-course meal Amanda had prepared.
“You’ve outdone yourselves. Thank you,” Johnny commented to the couple next to him. Robby sat on the other side of him, but Daniel insisted on sitting next to Johnny (even if it wasn’t his ‘usual’ spot as Anthony put it).
“Of course, any time,” Amanda accepted with a smile.
Daniel, on the other hand, protested. “A compliment from Johnny Lawrence? It must be a true Christmas miracle.”
“Laugh it up LaRusso. I’m here out of pity.”
“Sure you are, John.” The table succumbed to the silent chatter of forks scraping against plates and small comments here and there. When everyone was finished, Daniel put on Home Alone and ended up at the kitchen island with Johnny. Johnny watched a lot of television and films, sure, but he was enjoying the peace and sense of comfort he found there. It was a change of pace and he hated himself for enjoying it there. At Daniel LaRusso’s mansion nonetheless. “Not a fan of peak Christmas movies?” Daniel approached, holding a bottle of whiskey and two glasses.
“Nah, I’m just. Watching, I guess.” Johnny didn’t know how to lie very well, which was funny considering his track record. Daniel set the glasses down and gestured to ask permission. Johnny grabbed the glass and nodded. “Thanks, man.”
“You not a fan of Christmas or something?”
“It’s my first Christmas with Robby, you know. My mom, uh, didn’t have a great track record with holidays. I don’t want to repeat the same mistakes,” Johnny admitted, unsure why he was even talking about it. His mom had been gone for years and he didn’t even like to speak about her when she was still here. Daniel just nodded silently and sipped his drink. “I feel like I already ruined it,” he whispered. At this comment, Daniel placed a hand on his shoulder and looked up at him.
“You didn’t ruin it. I may not be your biggest fan, but I can’t watch you self-deprecate like this. You don’t deserve that. And look at him.” He pointed towards Robby, who was laughing on the couch next to Sam. “He’s happy.”
“No thanks to me.”
“You brought him here. That was enough.” Their conversation lulled as Johnny thought about what he had said. Robby looked happy to be there and that’s all that mattered, wasn’t it? Maybe it wasn’t such a bad night after all, and maybe this was where they were supposed to be.
“Can I ask a favor?”
“Sure, Johnny.”
“Do you have wrapping paper?” Daniel coughed out a laugh.
“Wrapping paper?” He asked back, laughing over his words.
“Whatever, man, forget I asked.”
“No, no, I do. Come with me.” Johnny rolled his eyes again and followed Daniel to a room opposite the other hallway. “Choose wisely,” Daniel teased, showing him an array of papers. Johnny wasn’t going to bother wrapping Robby’s gift, but he felt like the Christmas spirit was upon him. It didn’t help that he’d never wrapped a present before, but hell if he was going to ask Daniel for instruction. Johnny smiled weakly at him and grabbed a random blue roll with snowflakes on it. Expecting Daniel to leave, Johnny took out the gift from his jacket pocket and tried to align it with the paper. “Johnny,” Daniel sterned.
“What?”
“Have you ever even, you know, wrapped a gift?”
“Pssh, of course, I have.” Johnny held his pocket knife up towards the paper, the paper crinkling in his hands.
“Doesn’t look like it. Here.” Daniel took a pair of scissors off a desk and laid the wrapping on the floor. Johnny crouched to meet his level and watched the man cut the paper and carefully wrap it around the rectangle. “Tape?”
“Oh, right.” Johnny turned and found the tape, ripping off too long of a piece and handing it to him. Daniel chuckled at it but took it anyway. They continued on it mutually (although Daniel definitely knew what he was doing; Johnny did not). When done, Daniel stood and bowed to it as if it were a karate match. Johnny shook his head at him and took the gift from the floor. “Thank you. I appreciate it, man.”
“Anytime John.” They left the room and returned to their whiskeys at the counter. “You’re really worried about this whole Robby-Christmas thing, aren’t you?” Daniel asked, pushing the subject further. Johnny gulped and took another swig. “For what it’s worth, I think your worry is proof you’re doing something right. As parents, all we want is our kids to be okay.”
“I screwed up. Bad.” He sighed.
“We all do.” Daniel paused. “Sam’s 8th Christmas? She caught me writing from Santa on a present. How’s that for lazy planning on my part?” Johnny laughed, picturing the story.
“That’s different.”
“Sure it is. Point is, we make mistakes. We learn from them. We grow up. And along the way, we realize that maybe, someday, things will be forgiven.” Johnny stared at the bottom of his glass, taking the other man’s words to heart. “You’re doing alright, Johnny. And believe it or not, it’s good for you to be in his life. You both deserve that.”
“You know, I never thought I’d say this, but you give good advice LaRusso.”
“We’re not so different, you and I. We were raised differently - sometimes that’s the only difference. We don’t have to fight.” Daniel smiled meekly.
“No. I suppose we don’t.”
“Christmas truce?”
“Christmas truce,” he agreed. The men shook hands, accepting the fact that tomorrow was a new day. Maybe in the new year, things would be better for them; they could only hope. The movie shortly ended and Johnny collected his things to leave. Daniel started leading him towards the front door. “Thank you again, Daniel. It was a good Christmas.”
“I would have to agree with you there. Wait, where’s Robby?”
“Saying goodbye to Sam.” Daniel nodded, but as he turned his head towards the hallway, he saw the couple kiss under a conveniently planted mistletoe. Daniel scoffed as Johnny started to smile. “Attaboy,” he mumbled under his breath.
“I guess it is tradition,” Daniel agreed solemnly. “I need another drink.”
“Tradition or not, if you try getting me under that? It’s over LaRusso. I will kick your ass until there’s no ass left to kick.”
“Ouch. You forget I’m also a trained fighter.”
“I don’t know how I could forget the thing you’ve lorded over me for how many years now?” Johnny started counting on his fingers. Daniel struck his hand down, laughing as he did.
“Point taken.” Robby suddenly appeared from the hall, joining them.
“What’s happening over here?” He asked calmly, a sly smile on his face.
“Your father’s being his ridiculous self.”
“What’s new?” The three of them shared a moment before Johnny and Robby headed out the door, thanking Daniel once again. Once outside, Johnny reached into his pocket.
“Before I forget,” he started, “I wanted you to have this.” Robby looked up at him, his breath condensing in the cold air. He carefully unwrapped the paper, revealing an old walkman. “I know it’s not much and I’m sorry. It used to be mine and it got me through some tough shit. If you think it’s stupid or you don’t want it, that’s fine I-” His rambling was cut off by Robby flinging his arms around him.
“Thank you,” he mumbled into Johnny’s jacket. Johnny, slightly taken aback, hugged him back cautiously and closed his eyes.
“Merry Christmas kid.”
“Merry Christmas Dad. I love you.” Johnny’s eyes filled with tears and he grabbed onto his son a little tighter. Maybe Daniel was right, in all of his weird wisdom and philosophy. Some things were worth fixing.
“I love you too, Robby.”

fic title: Extraordinary Girl by Green Day <3
Johnny
Johnny had been out all day. He was overtired and sore from teaching all day. He eased his car into the driveway of the apartment block. He reached across the seat to lift the 6 pack of Coor’s off the passenger seat and fumbled for his key.
Once inside he placed the beers in the fridge, taking one out to drink now. He opened it, enjoying the satisfying ‘pshhhh’ sound it made, he lifted the can to his mouth but just as he was about to take a sip he heard a noise.
It was a weird noise and it took him a second to process what it could be. The sound was half way between a whine of pain and a sob. Miguel. Miguel’s hurt. His mind started racing as he stumbled through the house towards his son’s room.
He burst open the door, ready for whatever mess he was about to see but to his horror, Miguel’s room was empty.
Johnny heard another sound. One that made his stomach drop.
“Dad?”
The word was only barely audible. It sounded tiny and far away. “Shit” he mumbled, walking towards his other son’s room. How could he forget? Miguel was out with Carmen and Yaya. The only other person home was-
“Robby? You good man?”
Johnny found himself standing over his son, who was noticeably disheveled and sitting in the corner of his room, curled in on himself which made him look a lot smaller than he really was.
“I’m sorry dad”
“Sorry for what?”
“I…”
Johnny took a suspicious step forward.
“Sorry for what Robby?”
Instead of answering Robby just sobbed. Tears were rolling down his cheeks and staining his pale face. Johnny was taken aback for a moment before kneeling down next to Robby, what had Robby been doing while he was home alone? and was it going to cause him trouble?
He could see Robby closer now. The cuffs of his flannel were sticky and damp with blood and his entire body was shaking so bad he couldn’t keep still.
“Kid……”
“It’s fine. Im sorry for being dramatic. I can deal with it myself. I’ve done it before. Just go.”
Unconsciously the kid had started digging his nails into his palms. He was feigning calmness but his eyes were wide with panic, even if Johnny hadn’t known him (which he didn’t, really) he could have seen through the façade. Without saying anything he took his son’s hands in his own. He gently pushed the sleeves off his wrists revealing the mess underneath.
Johnny tried not to gag. Robby’s skin was barely visible under the amount of blood that was covering them. There were jagged cuts all the way up his arms, most of them fresh and bloody.
“You’ve….. Youve done this before? Robby when did this start?”
“I dunno. When I was 10 or something? I’d tell you to ask Mom but she won’t remember.”
The teen pulled his arms away from Johnny’s hands. He dragged his sleeves back down and leant away from his dad.
“Just go. I’m fine dad.”
“No Robby you’re not.” Johnny said firmly.
He was starting to get frustrated.
“God, you’ve been doing this since you were 10?! Honestly Robby are you stupid? Why wouldn’t you say anything? Shannon used to see a shrink who would tell her all that wishy washy find your inner voice bullshit. Isn’t that supposed to help with all this mental health crap? I swear if I had been there-“
“But you weren’t”
“Excuse me?”
“You weren’t there. And even if you had been I doubt you or Mom would have been sober enough to notice”
“Watch your tone. I’m the one who has to help you right now. I don’t have to be doing this Robby.”
Robby laughed
“Damn right you don’t”
Before Johnny could say anything else Robby stood and pushed past the taller man towards the door.
Johnny grabbed his arm. “Where are you going?” “Out.”
Robby stomped through the apartment. His dr martens echoing through the hallway with every step. He threw the front door open to a worried Carmen and a confused Miguel.
“Robby! Hi Mijo, I’m making your favourite tonight. I-“
“Bye Carmen.”
Robby pushed past Miguel and walked down the driveway. Once he reached the street he broke into a sprint.

Some Christmas angst/fluff for ya (@sensei-venus)
Robby wants to make Christmas so special for his daughter. He doesn't care if she's not gonna remember ber first Christmas, he wants every Christmas to be great because he doesn't have the best Christmas memories...
So he over-buys for her. His wife has to open so much stuff for their baby girl because she's just a newborn and can't open them herself.
If only he was the only one to buy her presents...
I know Daniel spoils all his grandkids. Doesn't matter if they are blood related or not. He gets them all something so expensive. Baby Girl Keene definitely gets something she doesn't need from the LaRussos but no one can tell Daniel no.
Robby is happy because he has his family together and that's all he really wants. He knows it's not about the presents but he just wants to give his daughter what he didn't have growing up.
Sure, he had Christmas but it wasn't all that merry and bright. His mom got him a few gifts to open and they watched movies together; but as he got older, they just less and less magical and festive. He saw her less and less until she got sober. And don't get him started on how terrible Johnny is at holidays.
So this means a lot Robby. He will cry when he sees his daughter in her Christmas pajamas on Christmas morning.

Cobra Kai AU Fanfic
(Sometimes being innocent can get you hurt...)
Tumblr media
Welcome everyone! Today I'll be starting a Cobra Kai fanfic series that follows the canon divergence but is also an AU. I'll make into a series divided by parts like in seasons. And I'll be having an OC as a protagonist alongside other OCs who will play significant roles in this story of mines.
This is my first time posting a fanfic on Tumblr so I'll have to have time to adjust just to get used to the mechanics of posting fanfictions on here👌
I'll also be posting a Karate Kid Fanfic series as well!
CHAPTER 1 🐍🐍
Cameron Collins; a privileged, wealthy, socialite teenager who lives in Encino and attends West Valley High. He has what others envies. Perfect grades, a large house, immense wealth, exotic party planner, a famous plastic surgeon father and a brand ambassador for Giorgio Armani. Despite how amazing his lifestyle is, he's not those privileged encino brats who hurt or judge others. He places himself as a normal human being like the rest. But when a new dojo by the name of Cobra Kai opens in The Valley, what will this do to impact Cameron's curiosity and mysterious wonder of the dojo that was banned since 1985?
---------------------------
December 19th, 1984
All-Valley under 17 Karate Tournament
Loud cries and cheers roar within the arena. Their applause made it fairly obvious that Johnny Lawrence would once again be the champion of the under 18 Karate All-Valley Tournament. Despite the fact that Johnny wanted to fight Daniel himself to settle things once and for all. But Sensei Kreese has other plans, using Bobby to mercilessly injure LaRusso, much to his friend's disgust of his sensei's violent method and disqualification.
"All right ladies and gentlemen! This is the moment we've been waiting for. The presentable-" the announcer's next words were abruptly cut by Ali tapping his shoulder, whispering incoherent words to the announcer. Johnny glances at his ex-girlfriend with confusion and curiosity.
"Daniel LaRusso's gonna fight?" The announcer questions in shock, giving Johnny a whiplash at him. He turns back to his sensei who appears just as surprised. He glances behind him to see his very rival limp his way to the ring.
No way...he's set on really beating me. Johnny thinks in his head. Once Daniel reaches the ring and stands in front of him, they both bow curtly. They get into their fighting stances, Johnny being ready to fight him and end this.
"FIGHT!!!" Just as the referee shouts the command, Johnny strikes first by lunging a strong kick to his rival, only for Daniel to dodge this swiftly and putting him on defense. Johnny decides to continue attacking, staying on offense yet each hit he uses was either blocked or dodged with Daniel's own moves. Frustrated, Johnny unleashes a wide roundhouse to kick Daniel, but this only leaves him open and vulnerable. With one swift block, Daniel punches Johnny in his abdomen. Earning a point and with the crowd cheering wildly in their ears.
LARUSSO - 1
LAWRENCE - 0
Johnny couldn't believe it. He allowed Daniel to score a point because he was too caught up in trying to fight him fairly that his vulnerability caused him to lose this match. Getting back into fighting stances, Johnny strikes first again with newfound vigor. He attacks Daniel before pushing him down on the mat to strike him and earn a point, but it was fruitless as Daniel kicks him off and regains his stance while limping.
The Cobra Kai prodigy aims a kick, but Daniel instantly drops down on the mat followed by him sweeping and capturing Johnny's legs, pulling him down harshly before striking Johnny's head. Leading to the crowd cheering for LaRusso's second point.
LARUSSO - 2
LAWRENCE - 0
After that attack, Johnny touches his nose only to feel blood cascading down. Irritation and panic courses through his veins when he hasn't scored a single point against Daniel. One more point was all his rival needed to win this championship. It was NERVE WRACKING at this point. The referee ordered both of them to go to their senseis all while Johnny gets insulted by his teammates for being a 'cream puff'.
Johnny appears before Sensei Kreese
Said older man swipes Johnny's hands away from his bloody nose so that he can clean off the excess blood and keep him concentrated.
"Sweep the leg." Sensei Kreese commands. Johnny becomes nervous at the order, a hesitant expression plastering his face.
"You've got a problem with that?" Kreese challenges, his question laced with venom. Johnny shakes his head.
"No sensei." Understanding where he lies, Johnny had to obey his words in order to win, and not to make a fool of himself in front of his team or Sensei Kreese.
"No Mercy." Kreese affirms, sending Johnny off into the mat once again. Regaining his momentum, Johnny glares at his rival while the latter gets into a defensive stance. The words No Mercy repeating in Johnny's discombobulated mind.
"FIGHT!!!" Johnny lunges forward after the Ref's command, surprising Daniel to where he couldn't react fast enough. Johnny sweeps Daniel's injured leg, making him stumble before kneeing him in the face, making him fall. A shriek of pain escapes Daniel's mouth while Johnny scores his first point
LARUSSO - 2
LAWRENCE - 1
Continuing his merciless onslaught, Johnny flips Daniel over by his injured leg, forcing him to fall. But Daniel rolls away dodging his kicks, until Johnny lunges and elbows Daniel's ribs, earning him a second point.
LARUSSO - 2
LAWRENCE - 2
Daniel strikes this time with a kick, but Johnny catches his injured leg and elbows his calf causing Daniel to yell due to the injury still hurting him while Johnny shows no mercy with his rival.
"Get him in a body bag! Yeah!" Tommy shouts out while Kreese smirks as he sees Johnny gaining the upper hand.
"Illegal contact to the knee." The referee declares to Johnny, watching him stumble to get up. Damn ref, he thought to himself mentally cursing that could have been a point right there.
"This is it folks! Who will be our new champion?" The announcer words ring in both of their ears. Both rivals stare each other down, both having full knowledge that this is it. One final point to win this tournament and become a champion. The heart pounding in their ears throbbing alongside their bruises and wounds while they anticipate each other's next moves.
Johnny watches with confusion as Daniel makes a strange stance, akin to a crane and with one knee up. Not putting much thought after that, Johnny maintains his normal fighting stance to finish this once and for all.
"FINISH HIM!!!" Kreese cuts off Johnny's thoughts, making him go for the final blow. A price that would ultimately lead to his downfall.
Daniel kicks up his leg with Johnny in range. The kick hits the Cobra Kai prodigy's face hard, knocking the wind out of him before he falls down in pain as Daniel scores his final point.
"THE NEW CHAMPION...DANIEL LARUSSO!!!" It echoes in his ears.
He lost. He lost the All Valley tournament to his rival. He stays on the mat with his face planted, ashamed and defeated because he lost against the person who won against him.
He failed. He fucking failed. He failed his teammates. He failed Sensei Kreese. He failed Cobra Kai. He made a fool of himself. A fool in front of Ali, in front of his Monegasque cousins, in front of his friends, in front of Peter, and most of all...in front of Daniel LaRusso.
He was a loser and a failure, just like Sid taunted him since childhood. Or maybe, he wasn't ruthless enough like Kreese instilled him to be...
Present Day, before first day of school
The rushing staff of the Encino Oaks Country Club with trays of food and drinks couldn't be any busier. Despite it still being summer, school was the very next day. While he enjoys being in the country club and it's atmosphere, he was hoping to go to a party or a popular social event before tomorrow and the big day. He couldn't host a party at the moment due to the house's patio being redesigned and remodeled. There was supposed to be someone remodeling it a week ago but it has been delayed since the guy who was assigned to fix the patio and deck was fired a week ago.
He sighs, deciding to enjoy his remaining Caprese Insalata and his glass of Acqua Panna. Even if no parties were being hosted today, he was hoping for Sam, Aisha, or Damien to stop by and hang out with. Even though through his 99+ notifications of Instagram and Twitter there were parties being thrown around left and right, none of them were in San Fernando Valley or Los Angeles. They were hosted in Miami, New York, Atlanta, and even in London. He definitely isn't travelling far just for a party with school the next day. Plus his dad said he has a surprise announcement to make when he comes home from the city later on tonight.
"This could've gone better." He mutters to no one in particular, eating the tomato and mozzarella picked by his fork.
"Good afternoon Mr. Collins, would you like some caviar today?" A waiter asks the younger male.
"No but thank you. And please don't call me mister. Just call me Cameron, I'm still a teenager." The aforementioned male replies sheepishly, blanching that he is being referred to as a middle aged male when his age and young features are obvious.
The waiter nods and leaves, just in time for Cameron to hear his phone receive a notification. He would've ignored it since he hears his phone ping on a daily basis, but a certain text caught his eye. He opens up to read the text.
Samantha LaRusso: I'm hosting a pool party at my house. Moon, Yasmine and everyone else are here. Wanna join?
Cameron's eyes lit up in astonishment. The LaRusso Auto heiress is throwing a party at her luxury villa estate. This is a surprise. Cameron is definitely down to attend this party, he has to make sure his skin is slathered in sun lotion SPF 50, aware of how his white skin can easily be damaged by the sun. He brought his swim trunks and shirt with him to the Country Club with no intention to use it. Now it'll serve it's purpose elsewhere.
Cameron: I'll be there today
With newfound excitement, he places a $100 plus a hefty tip on the table inside an envelope. Ordering an Uber to come pick him up, he puts his phone away, standing up to leave with his Herschel duffle bag. As he is leaving the grandiose dining room, he sees the Auto-Rulers of The Valley in the distance coming in. Daniel and Amanda LaRusso themselves, with Anthony playing on his PS Vita.
Cameron doesn't have a problem with the LaRussos at all. They are family friends of his dad and him. In fact Daniel knew his dad since high school and they became friends in chemistry class back then. But if the LaRussos see him without proper knowledge that he is attending their daughter's party, that could be trouble. It's how he was able to get to know Sam when he and his dad moved from Beverly Hills to Encino and found out his dad's longtime friend lives here.
"Now I see why she's throwing a party without supervision. Her parents and younger brother are away." He ponders in his thoughts. The LaRussos managed to get distracted by the other wealthy members of the Country Club, leading Cameron to slip while carefully aware of his well known presence.
Once he reached the exit of the elegant facility and out onto the red carpeted stairs, he let out a sigh of relief. Thankful that the LaRussos or other known family friends didn't see him. Sometimes he wishes he didn't build such a famous social media presence throughout Los Angeles County and Hollywood. His branding contract with Giorgio Armani makes it alot more difficult to not be recognized by the privileged circle. But he does it out of generosity and making people happy since his joyful and peaceful aura has made people feel a sense of happiness.
The Uber he calls in came in earlier than expected. He gets into the vehicle, telling the driver the address and location before the car drives off.
It was a brief drive to Sam's villa, but once he got there, he gave the driver the amount paid plus tip before he steps out. Walking further down the pathway to the large villa he sees cars starting to park in the driveway, knowing he has just arrived on time. He makes a left to the backyard to find the people he knows already starting the party.
"EVERYONE THE PARTY KING IS HERE!!!" Kyler's rough voice hollers out, exposing Cameron's presence much to his chagrin. He wanted to surprise Sam, Moon, Yasmine and the others!
The party guests holler and compliment the socialite's presence just as Sam hugs Cameron. "I'm so glad you made it, Cam! I bet you was trying to surprise us." She states with a smile plastered on her face.
"I tried so hard. Even at the Country Club I have to hide my presence." Cameron laughs. He feels another weight hug him, he looks to see Moon hugging him in her bikini. His face began to blush.
"I'm so happy you came here to the party! How are you Cam?" She asks as she pulls away while Yasmine gives him a side hug. Cameron did the best he could to hide the blush lightly tinting his face so that Moon wouldn't suspect a thing. Or the other two girls.
"I'm well. I really thank Sam for hosting a party. I was really bored at the Country Club eating a caprese salad." He replies to her.
"I'm surprised you showed up since you always would get a sun burn just from being even on the poolside." Yasmine says jokingly with Cameron rolling his eyes.
"I got my sunscreen to protect my disappointing skin complexion so I'm good at least." He responds, holding up the product as proof. The girls laugh as he gives an offended look at Yasmine.
"Anyways the pool house is over there so you can change into your swimsuit." Sam directs behind her. Cameron nods before heading to the small part of the mansion to change.
After changing into a pair of white swim trunks and a white t-shirt, he puts his black collar shirt, slacks, apple watch and dress shoes in the bag and then puts on his sandals. He grasps the lotion bottle, slathering it on his palm and closing the cap. After rubbing the lotion completely he applies to any parts of the body showing skin. Satisfied with the right amount of sunscreen, he wipes his hands with his towel before stepping outside to the pool deck.
"You were wearing all back just when you got in, now you decided to change to an all white outfit?" Yasmine asks, giving him an amused glance.
"Black absorbs the sun, Yas. White reflects UV light rays and although it'll make me more hotter, I can manage." Cameron comments while setting his bag down on a chair. He sits just beside Yasmine, not trying to sit with Kyler, AJ, Brucks, or Rory who aren't the male friends he'd be with. Sadly once again he wishes Damien was here.
He'd hope Demetri and Eli would be here too, but that is a wish that'll never happen. Since the binary brother duo aren't into that.
"Here." Yasmine interrupts his thoughts. Cameron looks inside the cup, only to be repulsed by the strong scent of Ciroc.
"Yasmine, you know I don't drink alcohol."
"Cameron prefers soda, club soda or anything that's not alcoholic. It's something I learned and picked up over all the parties he threw this summer." Moon adds in, which Cameron nods gratefully.
"Seriously you can't handle just a cup of this?" Yasmine is baffled by the male's refusal of alcohol. For a local socialite and party person, she couldn't understand how he doesn't drink liquor.
"There's sprite and other drinks in the cooler that Rory and Kyler brought in if you want." Sam states. Cameron mouths a thank you.
"So everyone's here huh? Time to hype it up." Cameron claps, getting up as he heads to the cooler which is by the radio.
"ALRIGHT GUYS LET'S HYPE UP THIS PARTY!!!" Cameron screams, making everyone cheer and holler back. He turns up the music of the radio and takes a sprite from the cooler before sitting back on the pool edges. He whips out his phone and takes pictures, with everyone cheering on and doing signs and stuff.
"Guys ready? One...two...three CHEESE!!!" Cameron takes a picture of him with Moon, Sam, and Yasmine, all smiling. He posts the pictures on his instagram and just like that, the notifications and comments he receives are instantaneous. And it is all it takes for several more people to show up much to Samantha's joy.
A couple of hours had passed and the sun was starting to get lower in the sky. Rory does a flip in the pool, with everyone exclaiming in wild chatter.
"Okay you were totally right. This is so much fun! Now I know how Cameron feels when he throws his parties." She smiles in excitement. Cameron chuckles now that Sam is relating this experience.
"Told you. Always better to be the one throwing the party," Yasmine pauses as she looks straight ahead before smirking. "And Kyler has been eye banging you all day."
Cameron watches as Sam and Moon glance at Kyler. But what put him off the most was the bruise around Kyler's eye. Cameron shouldn't have put much thought into it, but it didn't sit right with him.
What happened to his eye?
"Hey Rory! Do your flip again, I wanna get it on my channel!" Moon's shout snaps Cameron out of his befuddling thoughts when he turns his head to see Moon recording Rory dive flipping in the pool. He cheers along with the others of the impressive stunt, having too much fun with the party. The perfect last day of summer before school.
"Hey, hey, hey what the hell's going on here?" A familiar male voice yells out. Shit.
Cameron and Sam instantly stand up to see Daniel turn off the radio before facing everyone with agitation. "Alright, everybody get out of here right now."
"I'm so sorry Dad. I had no idea you were going to be home so early." Sam apologizes after walking up to him. Soon the partygoers began feeling awkward before packing their things and leaving.
"It doesn't make a difference what time I get home Sam. Do you think we want strangers in our backyard making a mess!?
"They're not strangers! They're my friends!"
"Yeah some fri- wait Cameron, you're here too?" Daniel's eyes dart to the white teenager in shock. Cameron sheepishly rubs his neck and waves.
"Hi Mr. LaRusso...what a surprise." Cameron greets awkwardly. Although Daniel's eyes were off him when he glances at Rory.
"Is he wearing my bathing suit? Wait are all you guys wearing my bathing suits!? Alright, let's go. Party's over, take the suits off and leave." He motions everyone in the pool to leave. Cameron begins to get his bag but watches and nearly laughs when Daniel stops Rory from taking off the trunks in the middle of everybody.
"No! Not out here genius! In the pool house." Amanda comes in after Daniel's scolding and takes Daniel inside the mansion to speak to him privately. Sam crosses her arms in disdain. Clearly upset with her dad ruining the party.
"Hey," Cameron walks up to Sam, gaining her undivided attention. "I'm sorry it had to go out this way but don't feel too bad. I saw your mother displeased with how Mr. LaRusso was handling it." He tells her. She gives out a small smile in reassurance.
"Thanks Cam. Although I just feel bad for hosting a party without telling my dad." She replies.
"No worries, hopefully he won't ground you and take away your electronics or car keys." He jokes, making the brunette shudder in nervousness.
"Oh god no. Those are my livelihoods right there." She chuckles while Yasmine calls out Cameron.
"Hey Cam, Moon is driving me home. You want a ride to your place too?" The blonde girl asks.
"Yeah! I'll hop in!" He yells back before turning back to Sam. "Stay strong my friend, plus my birthday is Friday so there's already another party underway." Cameron smiles, making Sam laugh at his social audacity.
"Oh my god you and your parties. For sure I'll be going." She answers back.
Cameron nods before hugging her and saying goodbye.
Once he got home, he got a text from his dad saying he'll be home in 25 minutes and he's got Korean take out for dinner. He puts his clothes in his hamper before having a pair of clean clothes for him. After showering and taking care of his hygiene, he goes to the dining table and takes out his medical textbooks; The Basic Concepts of Medicinal Chemistry, followed by Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology.
He spent the next 10 minutes reading and using flashcards to write down notes and key terms until he hears the door click open.
Cameron stops taking notes and gets up to head to the foyer and see his dad carrying bags with their dinner.
"Hi dad. How was work?" He greets, helping his dad by taking the bags to ease his shoulders.
"Oh hey son. I wasn't expecting you to be home early. Well, it went amazing. In fact I have to tell you the amazing surprise about my current position." He greets back, allowing his son to put the take out on the table. With the plates all set up and the different dishes splayed across, he clears his throat while giving Cameron samgyeopsal, bibimbap, kimchi and japchae.
"I opened up a private office in the West Valley General Hospital. The board here is thrilled to have me here as the West Coast's top plastic surgeon. Since I've had a huge number of successful surgeries both in plastic and original surgery operations, the hospital is having me open my office, plus I am part of the executive board there."
The announcement causes the teenager to cease everything he was doing. Cameron is awestruck by this amazing news he was hearing. Now, dad's closer to home and he doesn't need to travel to Los Angeles most of the time and come back at very late hours despite his extreme success in his career.
"Dad...this is amazing! You'll be close to home, and be able to spend more time!" He shouts happily, seeing how much his dad's expression changes to a huge smile. Upon further reflection, Cameron pauses. "Wait...what about your office and hospital in Los Angeles? Do you plan on shutting it down to relocate here?"
His dad shakes his head. "No, the office in the city will still be there alongside the hospital. I'm just relocating to the Valley and making the office here as the main office. Besides, keeping the LA office is a good real estate investment, not to mention the other investments in the hospitals and West Valley General." He replies, after serving himself bulgogi with japchae and bibimbap.
Cameron is unable to keep the happiness showing from his expression now that dad would be close and be home earlier than usual. He begans to slurp up his ramen with chopsticks. After gulping it down with water, his dad clears his throat once again to gain his attention.
"So, I received a call from a certain Daniel LaRusso, telling me you attended his daughter's party that she did without his permission." With that Cameron sighs, unable to suppress a meek smile on his face.
"Yeah, I was originally at the Country Club but it was very boring. Plus no one was there, and Damien just sent me a text saying he landed in LAX 25 minutes ago after spending a whole 3 weeks in Singapore." Cameron responds. "So I decided to go to Sam's party to have fun."
"I understand that part. Daniel doesn't have a problem with you hanging out around Sam, but it's the current friends you two share. Going on about how those friends are 'privileged encino brats' and he doesn't want you or Sam to be like them." This causes Cameron to look up from his food to his father's eyes.
"Dad, I would never turn out to be like them. I was raised to show respect, have kindness and generosity for everyone around me. It's what you taught me and how I want to treat others and vice versa." He answers hoping his father would believe him. He searched his eyes to hope he was hearing his honest words.
"Of course Cam I never doubted you. I know from my heart you have a pure heart of gold. It's just I realize that you and Robby don't hang out anymore." The mentioning of that name causes Cameron to pause. "I remember all the times you would hang out with him, stay over at his house for sleepovers and play games, play soccer and skateboard with him. It's memories I know you hold alot of regard for." His dad continues. Cameron remains silent.
Robby Keene. His childhood best friend since elementary school. He glances to his left to see the wall towards the living room with all the pictures. He was looking at one frame in particular.
It was a picture of him and Robby, winning their soccer game together back when they were 8 years old. He even has the same picture in his room. He felt a warm sensation touch his hand, making him turn his head to see his dad's hand on top of his.
"I know Cameron. Robby has alot going on right now with his situation. I told him before that he is always welcome to stay here if needed to. Like his second home." His dad responds.
"I kind of blame myself. Even though he's intelligent, creative, genuine and has a strong sense of will, those months last year of me taking my AP classes led me to leave him unattended and he was struggling alot more than before. Then him meeting...Trey and Cruz changed everything." He explains, the latter two names leaving a sour and bitter taste in his mouth.
"Cameron, do you think Robby would have approved of you stopping short to make yourself more academically successful? I don't mean to sound as if I'm imposing but he would lecture you similar to how I would if you were failing." His dad's words, although sharp and important, were said with a soft tone.
He's right. Robby would probably lecture and scold him for staying behind in his studies from trying to sell himself short. Not to mention all of the parties he's thrown this summer, Robby would be baffled to see this exotic side of him.
"But...Robby is always welcomed here. So by his choice, he can come and visit us. And reconcile the strong, platonic and trustful bond you two always had."
"Still have. Despite what happened and the incident with Trey and Cruz, I never held it against Robby. I told him I'll always be by his side if anything were to happen to him. I'll still be his friend. I never cut ties with him...and neither did he." Cameron answers back, a confident tone laced in his words.
He remembered the bitter words Trey and Cruz insulted him with the day he was with Robby. It was like yesterday he heard those words.
-Flashback-
"What's a rich, bougie, encino kid doing in North Hills?" Trey presses while staring him down.
"So white boy is friends with a thug? Might as well piss the fuck off if you don't wanna get robbed, encino punk." The vaguely Latin guy, Cruz tells him off.
The two men before him, were Robby Keene's friends. More like partners in crime since he is able to see who they are and how spiteful they were towards him.
He had spent his time getting early college courses for medicine and biology, as well as setting up his business, taking AP courses, and staying after school for finishing homework early. This spanned for 4 months, all while sacrificing time to hang out with friends, including Robby. Now before him, stands two shady young adults who are Robby's friends.
Cameron blames himself for not being able to spend more time with his childhood best friend, instead choosing to attain education at an earlier rate. Now this is the consequences for trying to reach that milestone in his life.
They continued to taunt and bully him. Doing whatever it takes to intimidate him. Cameron was intimidated since he never saw or met them before, but he wasn't letting them cower him away.
At least not until they pulled a cruel stunt on him. Trey pushes him off his skateboard, before Cruz goes ahead and piece by piece break the sleek black skateboard apart. The two criminals holler and laugh in mockery as Cameron watches in shock at the two of them destroying his skateboard.
"We got rid of your shitty ass board." Cruz taunts.
"Now you got no fucking business in being around here and seeing Robby, Mr. Perfect. But you snitch on us to him, we will do worse than break your board to you and Robby." Trey adds in with a cold tone. The two of them leave a distraught Cameron behind as the privileged teenager collects his thoughts before regaining to speak. The event leaves him a little speechless, getting up and heading home.
By the time he gets to the familiar neighborhood where his house is, a genuine and very familiar voice calls out to him.
"Ron!" Cameron lifts his head in surprise to see Robby skateboard towards him from where his house is. "Hey I tried calling you but you weren't answering. I went to your dad and he mentioned you went to the skateboard park already."
Cameron blinks before shaking his head in realization. He takes out his phone to see 5 missed calls and 3 text messages from his childhood friend. "Sorry I didn't respond. My phone was on silent mode."
Robby tilts his head in confusion at Cameron's reply. To him, it sounded off and numb.
"Hey, you okay? You look really off." Robby's question makes Cameron put himself in deep thought. He really wanted to tell the truth to his friend. He wanted to say what Trey and Cruz did to him. But remembering the words Trey threatened him with alongside Robby, he couldn't bear to see his friend get hurt over an incident since he doesn't know what those two are capable of. So...he decided to protect Robby from harm.
"My skateboard broke beyond repair. I crashed...but my skateboard fell to the point the wheels and front side became damaged. I decided to throw it away." Cameron lies, keeping a level headed expression. Robby's face is surprised as he hears this.
"Shit. We can help still get it repaired and try to help it. The damages shouldn't be as bad as it sounds."
If only you knew and if I can tell you. He thinks to himself. "Nevermind. It's already thrown away. I'll buy a new one later on." Cameron shuts down his idea. Robby frowns while observing his friend's behavior. But he was interrupted by the ringtone of his phone. Robby picks it up.
"Yeah Trey?" The name alone made Cameron internally stiffen. "Yeah I'm heading to the place now...alright...I'll see you soon." Robby finishes the conversation as he hangs up. "Sorry that this happened to you. But we need to plan another day for us to skateboard."
"No worries I understand. It's kind of my fault." Cameron responds, restraining the hurtful look from plastering his face.
"Don't say that. Accidents happen..." Robby trails off, before pausing. "Ron...don't blame yourself for actions you couldn't control. There are situations that can actually put us in places of no power over it. It was an accident. I know you never lie about this."
This hurts Cameron to the core, and as much as he wants to tell Robby what is going on, he wants to protect him and keep him safe. He nods to him and smiles.
"Thanks. I understand Robby." He pauses after saying this. "No matter what happens Robby, I'll always be your friend and trust you regardless of anything. Even if we have different lives, we are both humans and are close friends." This makes Robby feel a sense of hope and valuing the raven haired friend before him. Their trust runs deep and strong.
"Thanks Ron. It means alot. I'm always going to be there for you as well. Never be afraid to tell me anything."
Those words alone put a painful tinge inside of him, despite the forced smile on Cameron's face. Robby bids him bye. The raven haired friend watches him balance on his board down the eloquent sidewalk, leaving Cameron with his stressful thoughts.
-Flashback end, Present-
It stung. It really was hurtful to hear those words and batches of insults raining from their mouths like heated arrows. But what hurt most was not telling him the truth of what happened to him with Trey and Cruz. He chose to protect Robby from getting him harmed by those two older men. Was it wrong for him to do? Did he trust Robby? No- he does trust Robby. But why did he hide it from him? Maybe he should have told him what happen, as the outcome would have been different. Cameron sighs disdainfully for his own screw up.
Robby's still his friend. He'll always be there for him if something bad happens, even if it's a life threatening situation. He doesn't have no one else to truly rely on...except himself and Cameron.
The tense atmosphere disappears after feeling his dad grasp his shoulder. "Sorry if I made this a sensitive topic. My main goal in life...is to provide you love and happiness. Your future…is our top priority as well. But your emotional well being is the most important thing." His dad tells him, making the aforementioned teenager nod. His hair gets ruffled much to his chagrin.
"Alright now, let's enjoy the rest of this Korean take out." They both chuckle, eating their dinner. The rest of the time was spent talking about school this year and his birthday, which was in the same week and on a Friday. When they were both done with their dinners, they put away the take out before washing dishes and cleaning the table. He makes himself chamomile tea while taking his textbooks upstairs to resume his medical studies.
He continued to write down notes and read more details and key terms within his 2 textbooks. The moment his eyelids felt heavy, he shook his head and closed his book. Looking at the time, it was 10:47pm.
"Wow, I've been studying for 3 hours." He yawns out. Cameron takes out the box of his suit and white collar shirt for his outfit for tomorrow, and his own shoes just beside his bed. He will dress business casual for his first day. He is West Valley High's fashion icon.
He goes to his bed and shuts off the light. Staring into space as he lets his eyes close from tiredness, falling into a deep sleep knowing tomorrow he's starting his sophomore year.
Hopefully, it'll be a normal school year for him and everyone else.

We Need Her- (1/2)
Tumblr media
(Unedited) (Angst, Mention of Blood, Mild Talk of Child Birth, Birth Complications, Robby Keene doesn't get a day off from being assaulted emotionally.)
The minutes on the clock ticked by with a loud thump. The large clock on the wall of the hospital nursery wall only egged Robby’s nerves on. His leg bounced as he sat next to the glass case. Hazle green eyes scanned the inside of the basket once again. He let a finger run over the side until he gradually lowered his hand inside.
Tiny fingers wrapped around one of his, and his eyes soften as he looked inside the basket. The tiny fingers grip his finger hard. He smiles as he leans over and kisses the tiny hand.
His baby girl gargles and wiggles around in her small blanket. Her tiny body wiggled about, legs and feet kicking. Even with her being so small and new, she was a fighter. Doing her best to move and wiggle around. The small cries and yelps that left her filled the large room full of newborn infants.
Robby couldn't keep his eyes off of her even for a minute. He still couldn't believe how small she really was. They had told him and Reader that she would be on the smaller side, the ultrasound tech constantly reminding them of her predicted size. She showed no sign of development delay in utero , she was simply just small. Both of them had been ready for that after the news. But when she finally arrived it made it all too real for him.
Burned into his mind for the rest of his life he remembered what just happened not even an hour ago.
Reader hadn't been for another week but all of a sudden contractions started mid-day. She told him that she would be fine and that it was probably just Braxton Hicks, nothing too serious to worry about. But then things took a turn and her water broke later into the evening and they could no longer ignore it. They couldn't pretend they had more time.
The birth was shorter than they expected but still hard and grueling. Reader was forced to give birth with no pain relief because of how fast her labor was. There was no stopping the natural instinct to push and Reader went into full labor not long after getting to the hospital. All Robby could do was hold her hand and tell her how much he loved her and how well she was doing. The whole time he chewed his lips raw as Reader screamed and sobbed out in pain. Every push left her in even more agony and pain than are his gut clenched. All he wanted to do was help her, take some of the pain away.
She became more and more tired as the next few hours passed.
After a good five hours of pushing, one last push happened and their little girl was brought into the world with a loud cry. She screamed and whimpered as she was passed around to the doctors and nurses. They checked her over by looking at her eyes and getting her weight and length. Then wiping her down a bit and getting a blanket around her.
“Is she ok? Is my baby ok can I hold her?” Reader’s voice cracked. She was so tired but she fought off her tiredness to see her baby for the first time. Her eyes were sluggish as she tried to stay awake. Her body still hurt so bad after the birth just minutes ago. Robby tried to push himself up more and look over the sea of nurses to get a better look at what was going on. Hand gripping his wife's hand as he watched them bundle up their baby girl.
Soon enough they were being passed their daughter. She squirmed around on Reader’s naked chest for a minute. Tiny face all squished and red with eyes half closed. She was quick to settle. Robby was basically shaking as he watched them. For a moment he was too scared to even touch them.
“Doctor we need you.”
That was all he heard before he noticed Reader’s shaking breath and wondering eyes.
One of the nurses was quick to check Reader’s vitals and gave a small nod to another nurse who then looked to the doctor. The doctor's face was hard as she looked down at Reader from the foot of the bed. In a split second, the doctor was back in front of Reader’s bed, her legs were pulled from their fixed position and put on the bed. Reader's hands were shaking and her breathing started to become labored once again.
Robby didn't understand what was happening when suddenly his daughter was being placed in his arms.
“Get her into the OR now and make sure I have a full blood bank on hand.” that was all the doctor said before jogging out of the room followed by some nurses. A moment later his hand was ripped from Readers as she was quickly wheeled out of the room.
He couldn't miss the trail of blood that followed behind. It pooled where the bottom of the bed had been and trailed out after the hospital bed his wife was on.
Robby let out a shakey breath as he tried to focus on his daughter.
Her little eyes were slowly starting to open which made him smile just a little bit. He hoped they would be a bit more open in the next few hours.
“Mr, Keene you have some visitors out in the lobby. We still don't have a room for your wife right now. Once she is out of surgery we will have a room available for her and your daughter.” Robby could only nod at the nurse who then quietly left the room. Robby looked down at his daughter one last time before getting up. He placed a small kiss on her head before letting go of her finger. She squirmed a bit more but soon stopped and fell asleep in a matter of moments.
He was quick to leave the room and wander down the long hallway. After a few minutes, he finally found himself walking into the semi-crowded lobby. Through the large room of people he found his group. He was shocked when he looked at all the faces that showed up.
Johnny, Shannon, Daniel, Amanda, Miguel and his wife, Demetri and his wife, Sam Tory, Moon Yasmine and even Hawk and his wife were there. All of them stood together talking before they noticed him walking up.
“Robby! We got your message about the baby! Where is Reader and the baby? They wouldn't let us back to see them and they wouldn't tell us why.” Sam grinned as she held a small bag, clearly stuffed with last-minute baby stuff she found. The others stood behind her in a similar fashion all waiting to here the news.
Robby didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry. His emotions were all over the place. From being happy to being a nervous wreck.
He coughed and tried to hide both his welling tears and his nervousness.
“So uh Reader went into labor super quick and we didn't really know what to do at first. But she did really well, she did amazing. She pushed for a good four or five hours and finally pushed out our daughter. She's about a week or so early but she's doing great, she's health but really small like really tiny.”
“You know you were a small baby too.” Shannon laughed a little. Johnny rolled his eyes at the memory of seeing Robby as a newborn for the first time. She wasn't laying.
Robby coughed and tried to cover up his shaking breath.
“But uh anyway. They didn't let you back because we don't have a room yet....”
“But usually they give you a room after you deliver...” Amanda said with a brow raised.
“They would if Reader needed it...She was doing good after the birth but.... Then she started bleeding really badly. They wheeled her away right after they gave her the baby. She's been in surgery for the past hour or so. I have been in the nursery with the baby ever since.” Tears started to well in his eyes as he explained the situation. It felt like forever since he felt like this. Helpless and fearful, the idea of losing his wife. Even the idea of being left with his tiny newborn made his gut and heart clench.
He didn’t even realize his father was holding him until he felt the man’s large hands rubbing his back. The weight only did so much to bring him any kind of comfort. But he took it as he hugged his dad back, tears started to slowly spill over. Cheeks red and warm out of anger and frustration.
Johnny patted his back and held him close. Daniel stepped in and gripped his shoulder saying “It’s going to be ok Robby, Reader is a strong women. She will get though this we just have to have some faith in her.” Amanda came up behind him and nodded. The other’s circle him with support.
Even Hawk made a effort to try and comfort the brunette.
“Can we at least go back and see the baby girl?”
Robby sniffled trying to suck up his tears and snot, he nodded before pulling away from Johnny.
He ushered them out of the lobby and deeper into the hospital. Going though a few hallways before finally entering the maternity ward. He knew they all couldn’t come into the nursery so he left the group standing in front of the large window that looked into the room. He went in and found his daughter still sleeping in her glass basket. Smiling he wheeled the basket closer to the window.
The small girl seemed to sense the perfect time to wake up again. She yawned and her little eyes opened, wiggling around and thrashing in her blanket. Robby loosened the blanket a little and let her shimmy out of the tightly wrapped blanket. Her little arms and hands moved and grasped around in the air for a minute or two. He grinned as he looked from her to the window.
All of his friends and family where in awe at the sight of the new baby. The girls pointed at her and occasionally giggled at her tiny movements. Moon kept making tiny little cheek pinch movements as she looked though the window. Sam was whispering to her about something and the two of them where started giggling. Robby rolled his eyes at the two girls. The other women seemed to also be taken with the fresh baby as they awe at the sight. Amanda was right next to them, making little smiles at the baby who could technically barely see her at the moment.
Robby catches his dad, smiling for the first time in forever. It’s a small smile that wrinkles the corners of his mouth. Every so slightly but he knows it’s a real one. Daniel grins and slaps him on the back, breaking the moment. He goes back to his normals pout.
Robby is so caught up that he doesn’t hear the door to the nursery open behind him.
“Robby…”
He turns around to find Carmen behind him, still in her scrubs from presumably her last shift. She gives a small smile making him freeze a little.
“What..”
“I’m on the maternity ward tonight. I heard Reader had the baby and wanted to come find you. I also got her case. She’s out of surgery….”
Robby is still frozen as he looks at her, his little girl gargling is the only noise that fills his ears.
