my thoughts on the new HYUNA song drop and the various scenes in the song

1. Mizi rebels (no surprise), but interestingly, is being kissed multiple times by Hyuna to kind of drag her out of her discomfort/thoughts, some type of new ship or platonic relations??? (i’m not sure, but if that’s the case, im open to it, seems like an another great arc and more character development in one way or another)

2. Mizi’s hair was cut off, leaving behind past memories (that’s great! (she looks hot, im not complaining) question is, does this also mean she has moved past from her grievance for Sua?) (does this mean that possible romantic indication with Hyuna? if so, im happy for her for moving on, im sure Sua would too tbh…)

3. Hyuna has like defo a some sort of love hate relations with Luka, cuz he literally killed her brother (HE IS INSANE) (i officially dub him as like some scheming yandere with like manipulative tendencies, cuz she payed attention to him once and he goes like “give me more” anddddd she doesn’t cuz she needs to care for her sibling and he gets jealous and just starts a fight and so happens to “accidentally” push him or something and he’s dead. bro casually looks up to Hyuna and says “woops, i didn’t mean to” and from there on, she just feels absolutely rage and just thinks he’s insanely brainwashed in some way)

4. Hyuna’s group is bonkers and they all just flirt for fun (head canon she’s actually bi/les) anddddd she saved mizi cuz she saw her and was like “omg, my possible partner fr? i’ll give her everything (refer to the scene where Mizi and Hyuna fought like the alien bots or smth and like was infiltrating what i think was probs a base of some sort + like little hugs and kisses (those were so cute)), fuck you luka”

5. Ivan and Till is expect to fight in the next round… and slight foreshadowing, someone hits till’s face, does this possibly mean that he is eliminated in the next round????

6. (continuing from point 5!) but Ivan is said to have feelings for Till, so another possibility is that they try and do a duet, like what Sua and Mizi did. (will they be successful or end up the same fate as the both of them? tragic, but it may happen)

7. another scenario is the Ivan ends up the winner, and Hyuna and her gang comes and pull Till out from the situation (aka just like Luka and Mizi round), then it would be like crazy for Till to handle since Mizi would be there. (or alternatively, Mizi tries to convince Hyuna to save Till cuz Till is her friend (LMAO friend zone fr), and it worked, in which same shit goes down.) (but question is, if this case happens, will Ivan try and report the case and find Till? meaning which, he rebels more (ANOTHER REBEL IVAN ARC (just a teeny bit) ?) and eventually sneaks out to search for Till (his beloved lmao). )

8. but a possible scenario too in that round could be that Till gives up on singing and Ivan punches the absolute shit out of him to force him to sing (or vice versa cuz Till is mad that Ivan is just pitying him or that he’s just giving up so easily just so he can live)

9. OR ANOTHER SCENARIO (there’s so many im sorry😞) is that like Till don’t care (just like when he did in the round with some side character 😭😭), and then screws over Ivan, Ivan just goes like “i wish you the best my liege” and then explodes and Till just either “idc” or “what the fuck have i done”

10. WHAT IF TILL HAS LIKE LINGERING FEELINGS??? (i lowkey headcanon him as like bi but he has this one case of internalised homophobia, refer to like the cover they made with like ‘MY CLEMATIS’ ) cuz like Ivan tried saving him yk, so what if, like he comes to regret that afterwards (head canon, when he’s stressed he feels extremely nauseous to the point he puked like multiple times and got beat up for being like high maintenance, which would explain more about why he’s so feral dog angry at the aliens all the time) (and also cuz like they did like a lot of fucked up shit, any sane human would grow to hate them tbh, so it’s valid, but i like to think that it gives him more reason to want to rebel them even more out of more spite and just plain hatred for what they have done to like the contestants and Mizi (especially her))

another thing i would like to add on from point 3 is that i imagine the three of them just discussing ways to possibly get out of this situation alive, and just was blissfully happy for like awhile cuz they’re all together in this and up till the day Luka (the insane bastard) killed her brother, she actually admired him for like his skills (in terms of able to perform and stuff)

i’m sorry i’m going on another rant but this ship enrages me; i think they should be besties, not romantically in love. that’s how i originally read it, and i hope the show backtracks a little bit and makes that real, because they do NOT need to have romantic feelings for each other. like it seemed like they were just trying to figure out how to CARE about others, not like they were in love. i think they have deep platonic love for one another, but i see no reason that it needs to be/ should be romantic?? i think they’re both just trying to figure out how to express that for each other, and they’re really awkward about it, so it ends up being expressed a bit weirdly. i really really hope s2 does this narrative and they don’t end up as a couple. it just doesn’t feel right.

idc about the selfcest or whatever bc they’re completely different characters. the actors even have some chemistry, but i just do not like this ship as romantic, i see them as friends. i’m curious to see as well if sylvies feelings were genuine, or if she was trying to manipulate loki to get what she wants. i hope they can be friends without the writers/directors ruining it and making them actually fall in love.

The Loki we know has truly experienced trauma throughout his life. He was basically abducted as a baby for lack of a better term, lied to, etc etc. He doesn't trust people. I would go as far as to say he doesn't even put any effort into liking them. As much as I do believe he loves Thor, it is a love-born out of initial obligation. I think that loving/caring about anyone outside of your immediate family is always different. And that the first time you do it, it has a learning curve. Declaring that you aren't trying to betray that person despite it kind of being your calling card.

Could I see a romantic relationship in the distant future? Maybe? Everyone seems to look at the variant thing differently. To me none of the variants are the same. They look different, they act different, they were raised different, and they don't even appear to have the same genes. Literally twins are more similar than the variants. A lot of people are also saying that him caring for her is similar to him accepting himself because they share so many traits. But that is a kind of relationship that can be found in a person who isn't your trans-dimensional variant. Oftentimes our best friends, our platonic soulmates, are people that we see ourselves in the most.

There's a quote that I don't remember exactly. But it goes something like, “You will find that in your life there are people who will know your soul from the inside out and the great tragedy is that these are rarely the people you spend your life with." I thought of that quote several times when I was watching the last episode.

I personally really like Sylvie as a standalone character, and at this point I'm just hoping that she lives to move on in the next phase of movies. Because honestly, I like Tom Hiddleston, it would be cool for him to have a romantic relationship with anybody. what do you love about toumas and masarus dynamic?

Idk what it is about Masaru and Touma specifically I love so much- maybe it's because I just love Masaru so deeply LMAO bc I know every digimon series has their Hot head leader courage guy and the loner cool intelligent guy and they're friends(tm) But I *love* Touma and masaru specifically. I the episode they really bond and get along- to a point I've got the screen from when I rewatched awhile ago. This scene though-

Makes me so happy? I just like that whole episode, and I just like when they bond and interact. They're extremely close and get closer and it shows with them trusting one another and how deeply effected Masaru is by Touma's betrayal, and then trusting each other to take care of problems- each other's family, the fate of the world- all that fun jazz. I like that Touma is continuously surprised by Masaru's ability to adapt or just power through things- he's got faith but he's still surprised. I especially like in the later part where Masaru's weird fucking logic get's Gotsumon to agree to help them, and Touma is just ??? I went to college and I have no idea how that works??? It makes me.. so happy.. I just love Masaru a lot so it extends to his bestie bc Touma compliments him v v v well I think. Especially with both missing a parent and I do wish we had a scene where maybe they just.. talked about understanding that. Sure Touma witnessed his mother's death, and Masaru's father is just missing- but the loss of a parent clearly effects both of them deeply, and how caring they are towards their little sisters.

Like a scene where they get to be vulnerable together about something they can both relate too.. and they can also both relate to being in dad's shadow- though for differing reasons- they CAN JUST SUPPORT EACH OTHER SO WELL I LOVE THEM?!?!?! Please I just.. Love them so much. Also when I was younger I shipped them heavily, but as I got older- I still like the idea of them together, or having a weird relationship that isn't quite friends but not quite boyfriends- I just like them trusting each other deeply and idc if their relationship is platonic or romantic I just want them to have THAT component. Maybe this is also me with some of my headcanons bleeding in but yeah. I think they're fun and great and compliment one another nicely. Explain why you love IchiHime, please. Full detail, don't skip a single thing😇

I've been trying and failing to answer this for ages, but I've loved this ship since I was like twelve so I owe it to myself to at least try and explain. Full disclosure, a similar post could probably be made for any two characters, especially in a series like Bleach where characters have such great chemistry, but this is mainly going to focus on why I like them + general observations from an analysis perspective.

Disclaimer: long post ahead.

My knee-jerk response to this question is usually: asdglkdjh; why are they so URGH.

But we'll get to that.

Honestly, I love the way Kubo handled his romantic subplots, and I think a lot of his canon relationships are really well-written without taking away too much from the main story! RenRuki, IsshinMasaki, RyuKata, KaienMiyako, ByaHisa and ShunUki (they are canon, fight me on that) are all integral to both the characters' development, as well as the story as a whole, which is good writing! The story would be incomplete without them, and Bleach, especially, has a history of portraying good romantic and platonic relationships without putting either on a pedestal, so I don't agree with the criticism that a) Kubo can't write romance and b) Kubo shouldn't have written romance at all and I wanted to make note of that before I got to IchiHime.

Anyway,

Who is doing it like them? Among all the shonen ‘MC/Love Interest’ couples, I’d honestly have to say—nobody! Shonen until that point was really fond of ‘Childhood Friends to Lovers’ or ‘Opposites Attract’ as tropes, and that often felt a bit overused, especially if you were keeping up with several at the same time.

I love that he goes from “she’s a friend of a friend” to “she’s a friend” to “she’s a close friend” to “she’s my wife.” Instead of establishing it from the get-go, it’s so cool that Kubo was patient enough to build and develop them slowly and have them grow and learn each other over the series. And learn each other they do! Ichigo and Orihime are so perceptive of each other and they share a lot of their shortcomings, such as powerlessness + the desire to protect their loved ones + insecurities about not being good enough. Struggles like that aren’t uncommon for the MC as part of the whole Hero’s Journey™ thing but I like that, in Bleach, the love interest goes through that journey with him. I remember in DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho there were plotlines that ChiChi and Keiko were often written out of, which is why I like so much that Kubo had Orihime be a part of some of the most important and memorable events in Bleach. It’s also why I didn’t like that one movie where everyone went to Hell without her (I don’t remember what movie that was and idc).

Tropes

IchiHime often falls under a lot of tropes that I really like, such as ‘Grump/Ray of Sunshine’ and ‘Protector/Healer.’ I mean, who doesn’t like seeing their favorite ship shield and protect each other multiple times in the most dramatic of ways?

(This isn’t even half of my ‘Protecting Each Other’ folder, BTW).

I also like what they like about each other. Orihime loves that Ichigo is kind and thoughtful, despite the Punk reputation that he gets. Ichigo loves her compassion, loves that she worries and cares, and it’s so sweet and classic and traditional without being nauseating. They’re similar enough to get each other, but also different enough in how they behave, and I think that’s really refreshing! They love their mutual friends more than anything and they have a shared sense of justice and parenting that feels like such a natural progression of who they are. They’re still so much of themselves even when they’re together.

Development

I touched upon this somewhere in an earlier section, but I love that a lot of their individual development as characters complement their development as a couple. Ichigo has to trust his friends and share the burden of power, while Orihime has to get stronger and gain the more realistic goal of ensuring he never suffers from grievous injuries—as opposed to him never getting hurt like, ever. I also love how the conflicts in their relationship are dealt with such care, like Kubo never uses Orihime’s temporary jealousy or Ichigo sidelining her in the earlier arcs as cheap drama/for funsies but actually does justice to their relationship by having them grow and develop through it together. There’s no better tag-team partner for Ichigo and Orihime than each other, and I love that they’ve come so far from who they used to be. They’re a team now and they complement each other :’)

Feels

Remember when I said that my usual response to them is just “asdglkdjh; why are they so URGH”?

Yeah.

I love when they Angst so much and they’re extremely tender about it like hello! You’re in pain, why are you making soft faces at each other? IchiHime can do angst, fluff, comedy/teasing and domesticity; they’re so versatile, but god I do love it when they have these subtle, heart-wrenching moments together. I enjoy a good bit of Bickering in my ships too, but it always hits harder when you’re reminded of just how much they care about each other. And then they go back to being dorks and bumping heads and teasing each other about...bread of all things. They're ridiculous. Give me more.

As a last bit of rambling, I know you asked me about the ship, but I really do love its fandom too! Everyone has always been so nice, welcoming and supportive and I’ve rarely (if ever) seen character-bashing, which is so wonderful and kind, I love it! I haven’t felt any hostility in this sub-fandom at all, which is not something I can say for most pockets around here and I appreciate that! It’s fun, and I love making content for us!

kuroo and yaku are SO underrated as a couple, while i love daishou and kuroo, too, THERE IS SO MUCH POTENTIAL TO BE EXPLORED WITH YAKU, TOO. like, imagine both of them being enemies for petty reasons their first year to reluctant allies to friends to best friends- literally could be romantic or platonic but they'd be so amazing together either way.
