My new Wrestling TTRPG, Bookers!
I have been a fan of wrestling since I was barely grown. My dad introduced it to me as a kid through the PS2 games and I was hooked immediately, buying DVDs to watch it, playing all the games, wrestling my cousins just like my favourite wrestlers.
When TNA was on channel 125 on Sky, I would watch it with my mother and got hooked on the style of wrestling they did, as well as watching the WWE highlights on a Sunday morning on Sky 1.
My first Wrestlemania I got to see live was Wrestlemania 32. And it was terrible! But it showed me just how much I could love wrestling because, despite how awful that show was, I had fun with it and the people I watched it with!
I ran a Twitch channel when I was 16 with a friend where we would play wrestling games together and book crazy storylines and, at the end of one stream, they chokeslammed me onto the couch to end the stream after I beat them in a match. We said then that they were going to go on to wrestle and I'd be their manager.
When I went to university, I introduced my flatmates to wrestling and we got to watch Wrestlemania together during the pandemic, where I was introduced to my favourite match of all time, the Firefly Funhouse match. Bray Wyatt was such an inspiration to me that I got his logo tattooed on my arm as my first tattoo after his passing.
When they got into it, we started writing a wrestling company together. Dragon Pro Championship Wrestling. A company that, over the past five or so years, has changed quite a lot, evolving much like a real wrestling company would.
All of this is to say, I love wrestling.
I love wrestling so much that I'm making a TTRPG all about it!
Bookers is a timeline TTRPG inspired by Microscope, all about timelining a point in the history of a wrestling company. As players, you will create segments, becoming the head bookers of them, where the other bookers will suggest moments within these segments or pose questions that will be uncovered by watching the segments.
I've wanted to do something with this passion for a long time. Those dreams I had of being a wrestler or a manager never really came to be. But I can still put that passion for the industry into something fun for all wrestling fans out there.
It's going to be a long road ahead. But if you're interested in wrestling, ttrpgs, or even just the words I have the pleasure of writing, then please follow along with this journey.

Well, I went and got big art for a project I was only fiddling with so far, so I guess I need to make a proper post for it

Being small mice exploring the decaying ruins of the human world
Building up your colony so that it can survive
Traversing dangerously decayed and overgrown environments, as well as figuring out how to get your salvage back home
Dealing with all manner of mutants as well as seemingly unremarkable threats magnified by your stature
I have a lot of mechanic ideas that need testing (What dice to use, combat and positioning, character creation, exploration and more), and to do that I need to actually write them down outside of jot notes, so i guess I should get back to that
I have a few other posts about it (check the tags) but that's where I'll leave it for now. Little mutated lab mice in a big, hostile world. Coming whenever my ADHD lets me make progress on it. If you want to keep up, follow me here or on my bsky I basically never post unless it's about a project :V

At long, long last, the Wishbone Summer Year 1 Public Beta is COMPLETE! Download it here!
For those who haven't been following the project: Wishbone is a character drama-slash-farming sim game that takes place in a wild west-inspired setting. The player takes the role of a farmer, fresh off the wagon in a new town and tasked with building a successful ranch. The town of Wishbone might seem sleepy and mundane--albeit full of weirdos--at first, but thereâs trouble brewing on the horizon: a fierce, prolonged standoff between the lawmen and the outlaws that will decide the fate of the town itself.
The Summer Year 1 beta represents a complete vertical slice of the first 25% of the final game. It contains around 10-20 hours of playtime, depending on how thorough you are.

Y'all state in the Eureka rulebook (at least the version I have) "In our experience, the more preparation,the better, no matter the genre." I was wondering if you've expanded on that anywhere? I've been rambling in my drafts about how different games talk about prep, including PbtA games which often state outright that you should only make limited preparations.
Yeah this is something that it would be a good idea to expand upon, because âGM prepâ is word that has been so diluted and corrupted by D&D5e and its toxic critical role play culture, where âGM prepâ means âthey will do this, and when they do, the music will be timed just right and the battle map will be so impressive, etc.â PBTA is telling you to avoid prep because it doesnât want you doing that kind of prep (and no good RPG does). This can work for PBTA for a number of reasons that I actually donât want to get into in the interest of time but it has a lot to do with the pure genre emulation and the limitedness of the playbooks.
Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy, however, cannot get away with this because it is both a much more expansive âtoolboxâ game and because it is explicitly a mystery-investigation game. There are many other games that do also really benefit from the type of prep that Eureka wants from its GMs, such as dungeon crawlers, but Eureka needs it the most.
But the kind of prep Eureka wants isn't âthey will do this and when they do it will be perfectly timed and look so impressive,â it is âwhat if they do this? What if they do that? What if they do some other third thing?â
A Eureka GM needs to have something ready for the shed behind the house, in case a PC decides to go to the shed behind the house, because this is a mystery game. You canât just improv it, if you make something up on the spot, then and that thing doesnât perfectly adhere to the facts of the case, the case can be ruined. Thatâs why we push for using adventure modules so much, because theyâre literally designed to do that prep for you.
TL:DR
TTRPGs are games where anything can happen, so instead of being extremely meticulously prepared for one possibility, a good GM is moderately prepared for a wide variety of possibilities. In a game where âthe factsâ not 100% lining up doesnât fully matter or isnât likely to be pried into, you can get away with lower prep in each of your possibilities youâve prepped for, but in a game where âthe factsâ and tiny little details are all that matters, you should have a high level of preparedness for each possibility, and the best way to do that is to use an adventure module.
