Weird webtoons with weird stories: "ok let me try it, she is isekaied in a romance book she loved, but it is, for no apparent reason whatsoever, invaded with zombies and she dies multiple times but a loop keeps sending her back in time to the beginning of the day."

NW: "ok no let's try something else. What if a quirky character had a day job that brought a lot of shenanigans?" (Daily JoJo, Maid for Hire, She's Hopeless, Let's Play, Publishing Love...)

WW: "ok lemme try, we've got a handful of quirky characters opening a restaurant and not only does it apparently start the end of the world, traps them in a dark food dimension and kills and resurrect some of their clients, they also think it's boring and try to spice things up by making things explode" (Just Pancakes)

NW: "what if the MC was a being with a physical difference that made them an outcast?" (Woven, New Normal Class 8, Carl, Down to Earth, Sable Curse, Cursed Princess Club...)

WW: "What if the MC was divided into four versions of himself at different ages and had to deal with the consequences every minute?" (live with yourself)

NW: "What if the MC lived an epic romance?" (the Remarried Empress, Lore Olympus, Subzero, Siren's Lament, See you in my 19th life, My dear Cold-Blooded King...)

WW: "What if the MC was unwillingly thrushed upon the path of a white-haired dude and both engaged in a self-and-mutually-destructing relationship of love, hate and obsession?" (the Double Agent, My Deepest Secret, yes there are two stories at least that fit that bill)

NW: "ok you know what I give up."

WW: "good."

Detective AU (because yes I adore it)… how about Shawn gets hurt because the super-smart boy did something dumb and Taker is cross with him, but also relieved that it’s nothing too serious / he’s not hurt really badly? 🥺

Agent AU- Smartest Dumbass

The team was starting to get...tense.

They've been chasing this killer for a week now and everytime they got close, he just managed to slip out of their reach.

It was pissing them all off to be frank.

That's how taker ended up in a conference room, in the middle of some bum fuck town with a sour team of agents. He felt like he was babysitting baby teens.

"What-" "we have nothing new since the last time we played this stupid game" Kevin snaps. Taker sighs and looks too the others. "Hes right." Sable shrugs. "Well we have, don't we?" Shawn asks getting everyone's attention. "We know he's attached to this town. We didn't know that a week ago" Shawn points out. "And I know it's a small town Shawn, but the male population here is pretty high. So doesn't exactly help us out." Bret snarks. Shawn sighs and leans forward. "Are we profilers or just normal cops? Have we even tried going back to basics? Let's stereotype this guy based off this town. Based off what people think of killers." Shawn tells them.

"Thats risky. More people could die." Bret frowns. "And more people could if we don't give it a try. Shawns right. We are pretending like this is a modern killer so we are using modern techniques to find him." Taker agrees. "Hes got a point. We only found the connection to this town because we used older techniques" Kevin hums. "Goldie ain't gonna like this." Sable huffs. "It might be our best shot. Sable, bret, grab files of every man with a history. Me, Kevin and shawn will start looking around the country houses and barns. Quiet spots" Taker orders. Bret and Sable nod. "And because of signal issues, we'll have to use these" Sable states putting a box on the table.

Taker opens it and smiles. "Wow we really are going old fashion" Taker holds up a walkie talkie. "You know how to use one of these boy toy?" Kevin teases. "Yes. Obviously." Shawn huffs accepting one. "Then let's go. Bret, you and Sable will keep one just incase one of us lose signal with the others." Taker states attaching his to his belt.

Shawn frowns as he leans against the truck. His second building. The first one was a farm owned by a lovely old couple. They allowed Shawn to look around and he found nothing he was looking for. Solely based off the fact they were both females.

In fact they pointed him towards the current barn. They claimed its been abandoned since they were kids. No one wanted to touch it after the murder of the three young girls there. He already asked sable to get goldie to look into it.

"Nothing here. Just some widow tryna get rid of her husbands barn." Kevin's voice crackles over the radio. "Similar story here, a widow trying to keep himself busy." Taker adds. "Im at that abandoned barn recommended to me by the old couple. Apparently three girls were mu-" Shawn gets cut off by a scream. He immediately pushes off the truck and places his hand on his gun.

"Shawn? What was that?" "A scream. I'm gonna go check it out" Shawn states quietly. "Are you stupid? No, we know what this asshole is capable of, you wait for us." Kevin snaps. "I can't let her die." Shawn snaps. "You wait for backup that is a order." Taker snaps. Shawn huffs and looks at his radio. That's when another scream breaks from the barn. "Fuck it. Sorry boss." Shawn mutters throwing his radio into the truck before making his way to the barn doors.

He wasn't going to let someone die on his account.

He's not even a arms reach of the barn door before something hits the back of his head and his world goes Black.

Taker arrives to see Kevin opening shawns truck door. "He left his damn radio." Kevin growls holding it up. "How is he the smartest one on our team and yet he pulls shit like this?" Kevin snaps looking at taker. "Because he heard someone in danger and his heart took over. I've always said that's his only weakness." Taker sighs pulling his gun out. Kevin looks towards the barn before grabbing his radio. "Weve arrived at the barn. No sight of Shawn, just his truck and radio. We'll be falling into radio silence but will contact as soon as we have an update." Kevin speaks. Taker moves closer. "Dont hear anything from us in an hour, send reinforcements and come get us." Taker adds. "Yessir. Before you got. We found that the three girls were sisters. They had a baby brother called Brant. He saw everything. The barn is their families. Their deaths fit the current MO. Murderer was never found." Bret answers. "Thank you. Over and out." Taker steps back. "A brother that traumatised by his sisters death, only way he knows how to cope is by reliving it? Or maybe he had a break and is now reliving it." Kevin comments. "The old fashion killer makes sense now though. Let's go." Taker nods.

The pair make their way to the barn, keeping their eyes each way. Whatever happened to shawn had to be a consequence of being caught off guard. That would not happen to them.

The barn doors are slightly ajar. Taker nods as Kevin leans against the open door. Taker glances is to see a girl hung from one of the beams and a man's back. "You didnt have to come here." The man states. "And let you get away with murder?" Shawn asks weakly.

Taker glances at Kevin. Good. The idiot is alive still. Kevin nods behind taker.

Taker glances to see shawns gun. Okay. So there's too idiots in the barn. Why not take shawns gun? Taker picks it up. "Its not murder! It's me..me.." "trying to understand, right?" Shawn asks. "What? What do you know?!" The man yells. Taker hears the sound of slapping.

"Its not hard to figure out you saw the girls die here. That you are trying to understand it, your recreating the murders, aren't you? Meaning you were young." He mutters. "Enough. I'll finish her and then you."

Brant turns around and pauses at the two guns pointing at him. "How about you drop that knife?" Kevin asks. "Do it. They dont exactly have a rep for missing." Shawn huffs. Takers eyes land on the blonde tied to a chair. His hair is a mess, his face is bloody and he has a slice in his arm. When taker glances at the still alive woman. She also has similar injuries. Just more of them.

"We know they were your sisters Brant. We know you watched them die. But this is not going to help you or them. They would not want these women to suffer the same fate they did." Taker explains. "I..I just need to know why he did it" brant whispers. "Who brant? Finding and imprisoning the man who did this will bring them peace. Bring you peace." Taker tells him. He lowers his gun which brant sees. "Pa." Brant whispers as the knife falls from his hand. Taker moves in quick and handcuffs him. "And we will help you get justice Brant. But these victims will also need that" Taker promises. "I know. I'm sorry." He whispers.

After Kevin takes the woman down, he takes brant. "Call back up." Taker orders. He nods and leads brant out. Brant clearly suffered a psychotic break and someone actually knowing why has brought him back. Or atleas stunned him out of it.

Taker turns to shawn after checking in the woman. She promises she's okay but also that she's a nurse and can check herself whilst he helps Shawn.

"How are you the smartest dumbass i know?" Taker snaps pulling his knife out. Shawn just stares at him with a dazed look. "I told you, you do not enter without back up. That was a direct order." Taker mutters as he checks Shawn over. Split lip, cut temple, gash on the back of his head and one cut to the bicep. Nothing too bad. Most likely a concussion.

Takers heart finally relaxes. "Im sorry?" Shawn mutters. "Sorry!" Taker yells. "You could of died. You could of killed you both!" Taker snaps at him. "I know. I just.." "thought with your heart instead of your head" Taker sighs rubbing his temple. Shawn stares at him.

Taker was scared to lose Shawn. Shawn realises that now. Taker cared about them all, obviously, but lately? Lately him and taker have gotten closer.

"Im sorry for scaring you." Shawn whispers. Taker kneels infront of him. "Im just glad your okay kid. Couldn't imagine losing you." Taker sighs pushing shawns hair back. "You angry?" Shawn asks quietly. "Damn right. Do anything like that again and I'll personally kill you." "So, angry at me but really relieved I'm okay?" Shawn smiles. "Yes. That's the best way to put it." Taker nods with a small smile.

"Medics are pulling up." Kevin speaks over the radio. "He okay?" "Yeah, abit dazed but he'll live." "Not when we get our hands on the idiot." Bret growls

Shawn can't help but chuckle.

Because the best way to describe them was a really dysfunctional family.

Taker smiles at the man before looking at the woman. "Lets get you both checked out yeah?" "Yeah" both blondes reply.

Sable sat at a table in an overhang just outside the Imperial Headquarters in Kaas City, only half-listening to the rain as he read through a padd. He had downtime for once. It was oddly peaceful.

As peaceful as life could ever be for an Agent, of course.

He sipped at his rapidly cooling kaff, idly thinking he should've just gotten something already over ice instead of the swill that was available in the bowels of Headquarters when he saw another one of the agents sprinting across the bridge from the Sith Citadel. Sable recognized the Agent. Koenn, he thought, or that was the Imperial Standardization; his name was much longer, being Chiss.

Koenn hit a particularly slick patch, flailing slightly and almost careening into a wall. He breathed a few quick breaths before dusting himself off, looking for the world like a lothcat that had fallen off of something by accident and acted like it had meant to do that.

Sable laughed. Not loud, but clearly louder than he'd anticipated, Koenn jerking his head in Sable's direction, crimson eyes going wide.

"I'm sorry, Agent," Sable said, "but that was genuinely adorable."

Koenn blinked a few times. "Sir?" He sounded almost genuinely unsure. No one else was around, bar a few droids.

"What has you in such a hurry, Agent?" Sable asked, redirecting.

Koenn blanched and gestured vaguely in the direction of the Sith Citadel. "I'm on a mission from one of the Sith."

Ah. Errands. That explained the haste. Sable shook his head. "Take your time, Agent. It wouldn't do to end up falling from somewhere because the walkway is slicker than usual."

Koenn hesitated. Sable took another sip and lamented how terrible his kaff truly was.

"Right," Koenn said. "I'll... be more mindful of the walk?"

"See that you are."

Koenn nodded and disappeared into Imperial Headquarters. Sable returned his attention to the padd in front of him.

The rain drizzled on.

Director Vulture is preparing an execution of Kurt Wagner (a.k.a Spinnenmann, formerly Nightcrawler) so that he could have his body dissected for study. Silver Sable calls it quits but one of Orchis agents would not let her leave. Silver Sable’s team depart, apart from Kramer and Sable and the mind control device is mentioned. Kramer removes his helmet to reveal....Kurt! Wait, if the real Kurt is disguised as an Orchis agent, then that means the captive "Kurt" is actually Mystique in disguise. It turns out that Mystique can alter her appearance down to the genetic level, as revealed in Xmen Blue: Origins one-shot as well as she is also concealing weapons. Silver Sable and Mystique go on their happy rampage while Kurt goes looking for Warlock, who is the resource Orchis and Director Vulture are using to enslave mutants and turn them into hounds.

Kurt Wagner accesses through the computer system but Ghost Bamf has another idea; the Orchis operative reduced to a braindead zombie when he tried to access Mystique's mind. Mystique and Silver Sable flirt in the middle of the battle. Ghost Bamf enters the mind of the Orchis guy and pilots him to get through the computer firewall, which frees Warlock. The Technarch reabsorbs his code, stolen and used on the Orchis Hounds, freeing them from Orchis influence too. However, Warlock he could not absorb Director Vulture’s as he has the source code for too long. Director Vulture attacks Warlock, Silver Sable and Mystique by charging in and knocking them down. Kurt Wagner fights Director Vulture by using his agility and teleporting around him until he stabs him with the Hope Sword. With Director Vulture down, this allows Warlock to absorb his source code from him.

It had been a week since Sable Ward had gone missing. Radio silence was not something she was known for, and the fact that he had lost contact with her wasn't something entirely new but she would at least give him breadcrumbs as to her location. This was different. Something had gone wrong.

He had hoped that she wouldn't become one of his cases. Fox had hoped that Sable would know how to keep her nose clean, even if she was young, even if she was a little bit reckless. Unfortunately, it seemed like his very fears had very much become a reality.

The drive to Greenville was nerve wracking. He had torn through at least two rolls of Sweet Tarts, and the citric acid was taking a toll on his stomach. First Mikaela, and now Sable. The two had been close, and it made sense that one would follow the other. He should have seen the signs. He should have made this trip sooner. He should have-

No. No he can't think about her now. He can't compare these two events. Sable was out there. So was Mikaela. He'd find them. He'd find them and bring them back home. They weren't going to end up as another statistic.

After a short visit to the hotel where he had his reservation, Agent Mulder made his way to the Ward residence. These sorts of visits were never easy. Grieving and worried loved ones unsure of what to do or what to say, it reminded him of his own life. It reminded him of his own mission. His purpose in life.

Fox realized that he was standing in front of the door for far too long, and when finally coming to he gave the door a solid three knocks with his knuckles.

Nancy Drew crossover where Everett and Celia Hudson actually had two children but they all but disowned their daughter, also called Celia, when she fell in love with Donald Lockwood and moved to England to be with him. Ryan, in his broken and messed up state after Lucy Sable's death, lost touch with his sister and never learnt she had any children.

Until the agents at Mr Claw's Psychical Agency and up working on a case with Lockwood and Co and Ryan and Lockwood realise they are related.

Taker leads a team of, well a nice way of putting it is, a mix of very interesting personalities.

Goldust, he's their tech guy, their eyes everywhere. You got a secret? Goldust will find it.

Sable, she's their media girl. She deals with the press, other forces, judges, highers up, you get the point. You need something? She's the girl to goto.

Bret Hart, he comes from a family of law inforcements he just decided to take a different road and become a profiler. And he is one of the best there ever is. (Aka I bully bret way too much and have finally decided to show him so love)

Kevin Nash, he's their muscle. A suspect tends not to run if they see him. He's quick and a good tackler. He does have his moments of smartness though and sometimes taker doesn't know what he would do without him.

And finally, Shawn Michaels. The dumb blonde, except that's not him at all. He's the smartest one on their team. His head is filled with facts about bascially everything. He's the youngest which makes everyone protective of him. Kid can't fire a gun to save his life. But he can work the mind better than anyone. He can't however work chopsticks.

And if you ask the team, the best member is their boss, Undertaker. Passed top of his class. Became a agent in hopes of saving families and making sure none of them suffer like he did. He's led a few teams in his time but this one, its his favourite. He actually has a connection with them, they are a family to him. A weird fucked up family, but it's the only one he has. He always has their back, in the field and the office. He leads them down the right path when they are stray off it. They trust him with their lives.

Shawn actually ends up fascinated with takers past. He knows he shouldn't but he hates cold cases. (Despite the valleys sheriffs stating it was an accident at baby brothers kanes hands.) He actually leads a discussion with it in the gorilla. Taker allows it, they've had a tough case, he knows Shawn needs to wrack his brain after a case like that. He also knows it can take the others out of the past case.

Bret and shawn has a interesting relationship. Bret hates how smart Shawn is so it leads to him teasing. But he never feels bad about it because shawn always gets him back by out shining him in the field. It's a love hate relationship but not so much hate. They goto each other for advice, mostly Shawn to bret. It's like a big brother little brother relationship (sorry hartbreak fans)

Kevin, shawn and the kliq, they all grew up together. That's important during a case.

Goldust flirts with them all and they allow it because he puts up with so much shit and stress because of them.

Sable is basically the single mum of the group. Reminding taker to eat, Kevin to rest his knee and ice it, Bret to phone his mother as she worries about him after cases, goldust to rest his eyes after staring at computer screens and for shawn to actually go home and get some sleep. They all make it up to her on mother's day, they buy her gifts and treat her.

Shawn and bret suffer the worse with headaches. Shawns head is never shut off whilst bret is always profiling people.

Kevin forces them all to have atleast one gym session with him a week. Taker doesn't mind, he loves working out. Bret is okay with it just wishes a case would come up. Spoiler, a case never seems to appear when they are forced into these sessions.

Anyways the hbtaker aspect of this. Ik that's what yall want.

Shawn admires taker. He always has. Taker has mad respect for shawn. Shawn, is one of the smartest and yet troubled kids he's ever met. It reminds taker that the world does still have some innocence in it though. (Especially seeing him struggle with chopsticks)

Shawn knows he's not straight. It was kinda confirmed when he met taker and it kicked him straight in the gut, stirring those butterflies. Taker doesn't know what he feels for shawn. Just that he's protective of him, but everyone on the team is.

Their relationship takes a real turn when they get kidnapped together and shawn ends up saving him.

Taker also takes extra note on how dedicated Shawn is to helping taker solve his childhood crime.

Shawn knows taker studies him. He's the smartest on the team after all. Shawn knows after the kidnapping that taker is more invested in Shawn. Goldust teases Shawn saying that taker has a crush on him. Shawn can't deal with it.

Taker picks up on things that change about Shawn. Like how he allows taker to have physical contact with him. How he will listen to taker without sass or fight. And it confirms his idea that Shawn might have a crush on him. But he doesn't pressure the kid. He knows Shawn does well at his own pace.

And it does work out when Shawn comes stuttering to him about, well taker thinks he was trying to ask him out. So taker just asks if he wants to get dinner.

And well, they are hesitate about it but everyone bursts in and tells them to fuck the rule about relationships and fuck each other.

And I agree.

I finished Insomniac Spider-Man recently and while I did enjoy the game, it was so flooded with copaganda like you said. I also found it really odd how they framed Sable agents as the corrupt force to try and enforce the idea that the cops are the "good guys" and how they would never be as corrupt as those Sable agents. It rubbed me off the wrong way.

oh for sure. definitely very interesting how sable is framed as evil for detaining citizens (and this is evil!) despite that being something .. the real NYPD … does all the time. LOL. also the persecution of spider-man done by sable (naming him a priority target and firing rockets at him in the middle of times square and shit) is also… something the NYPD does to him a lot in the comics.

This presents many challenges, not the least of which is distance. Even when they are closest to each other in their orbits (aka. when Mars is in Opposition), Mars can still be up to 55 million km (34 million mi) from Earth. Using conventional propulsion (chemical rockets), a one-way transit can last six to nine months, which works out to a total mission time (including surface operations) of about three years. That’s a very long time for people to be in microgravity, not to mention exposed to solar and cosmic radiation. To address this, NASA is investigating advanced propulsion methods that will reduce transit times and hibernation technologies that will allow crews to sleep through most of their voyage. This year, the NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program selected the Studying Torpor in Animals for Space-health in Humans (STASH) experiment, a new method for inducing torpor developed by Ryan Sprenger and colleagues at the California-based biotechnology firm Fauna Bio Inc. Today, there is a growing field in biotechnology where unique mammalian traits are being investigated and used to develop novel therapeutic agents. This includes the phenotype of hibernating mammals, which are currently being investigated for human health applications here on Earth. But as Ryan Sprenger and his team indicate in their proposal, these benefits also have applications for space exploration, which include mitigating the associated physical and mental health risks. And for long-duration missions to Mars and beyond, these risks are legion! Ongoing research aboard the International Space Station (ISS), such as NASA’s famous Twin Study, has shown how extended periods in microgravity can take a significant toll on human health. This includes muscle atrophy, bone density loss, and effects on organ function, eyesight, cardiovascular health, and the nervous system. Another major issue is the need for resupply, which can be accomplished in a matter of hours for the ISS but would take six to nine months where crewed missions to Mars are concerned. There’s also the prospect of spending months in a cramped spacecraft, which is bound to take a toll on the crew, and the problem of waste management along the way. Under these circumstances, NASA and other space agencies are considering placing crews in a state of hibernation for their journey. This would ensure that the crew arrives at Mars in a healthy state and is prepared for the months of surface operations that will follow. The essential feature, writes Spenger and his team, is “an energy-conserving state called torpor” that involves a deep reduction in metabolism. To this end, they have proposed an experiment called “Studying Torpor in Animals for Space-health in Humans” (STASH), a hibernation laboratory for use aboard the ISS. This unit is being developed in collaboration with the BioServe Space Technologies College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Boulder to be integrated into the Space Automated Biological Laboratory (SABL). The experiment consists of two chambers that will house test rodents, maintaining temperatures as low as 4° C (39° F) to induce torpor. The system will have instruments that measure the animals’ metabolism in real-time by monitoring their oxygen consumption, body temperature, and heart rate. The short-term goals of the STASH include investigating hibernation science in a microgravity environment, which includes determining if hibernation provides the expected protection against bone and muscle loss. The medium-term goals include testing bioactive molecules that mimic the gene expressions of hibernation and evaluating methods of inducing synthetic torpor. The long-term goal, they write, is to develop applications for deep space missions: “[D]uring a crewed mission to Mars, human synthetic torpor could act as a relevant countermeasure that would change everything for space exploration, mitigating or eliminating every hazard included in NASA’s RIDGE acronym for the hazards of space travel: Space Radiation, Isolation and Confinement, Distance from Earth, Gravity Fields, and Hostile/Closed Environments.” As Sprenger and his colleagues noted, there is a critical gap in our understanding of hibernation and its potential applications for human spaceflight. Currently, the infrastructure needed to study torpor in space does not exist, and hibernation in microgravity has not yet been studied. In this respect, STASH will serve as a pathfinder, laying the groundwork for future studies that could lead to hibernation systems for deep space missions. With Phase I development funding secured through the NIAC program, the team is excited to take the first steps. As they summarized in their proposal: “Research performed using STASH will be an essential first step toward acquiring fundamental knowledge about the ability of hibernation to lessen the health risks of space. This knowledge will inform the development of both biomimetic drug countermeasures and the future infrastructure needed to support torpor-enabled human astronauts engaged in interplanetary missions.
