the spiral is unspooling by reedroad (60k) wip but pretty hefty already (60k!). the devils minion chapter incorporated into the past of the show, with daniel uncovering his memories of armand. very good read with lush world building. my fav thing in this is how daniel is written, and his daughters popping up in the fic.

Psa: I love reading fics that engage with the enormous complexity of the relationship between Louis and Armand, and don't shy away from the unhealthy dynamic they have; at the same time, I think Loumand is a love story, so those are all fics about love, as dark and complicated and layered as it is between Louis and Armand.

only including fic I've read within the past year because I don't trust my assessment of the stuff I read when I was a teenager tbfh lol

sometimes a kind of singing by adi_rotynd (@/adihildilid 💖) the singular best samndean-and-jack-and-cas fic I've found thus far by a mile. also rowena is there :) also sam's issues with food :) exactly the sort of late-seasons fic I want to read!

lethe by goldmonger what I remember from this one is that it nailed late-seasons samndean i.e. sickening (complimentary). the premise is s15 sam regressing to s1 sam which is a delicious fucking concept. jack is there!!!

try and love again by sahwen sam comes out as a woman to dean and it doesn't go well. featuring a little tiny crumb of sastiel that makes me want to cry just thinking abt it lmfao. this one has a hopeful ending!

up close, personal by themegalosaurus expands on the christmas lap dance that dean bought for sam - mentioned in 13.05. set during s10, so.... you know.

lesser evils by dyed_red this is the only wincest fic in this list and it features graphic rape, so tread lightly. I just read this one the other night so it's fresh in my mind. set during early s5. dean making sam's shame over his Monstrosity infinitely worse.

I wish i had more to recommend but I'm not exaggerating when I say it is very hard for me to find fic that meets all my criteria in this fandom. w/ that said if you have any sam-centric recs feel free to drop them in the comments <3 any ship (or no ship) is fine

Being Human (UK) - Such a special place in my heart for this tv show, Hal especially is such a top tier vampire, it's been so many years but my love for this show has not diminished. From Dusk Till Dawn (TV series)- For me, my love of this series is so inextricably tied up with the experience of watching it with @prosopopeya to the point where I have no hope of being objective about it's actual merits, but I cannot think of it with anything but warm and glowing nostalgia. sorry this has been sitting in my asks so fucking long. been trying to come up with something to say that isnt a screech of rage. anyway people who ship samifer as like... cute uwu fluffy shit and think there is any romance between the two of them at ALL block me immediately and dni ever :-) people who think samifer is interesting as a dynamic can stay.

anygay. samifer makes me a little kooky. imagine you felt evil you’re whole entire life, you turn to religion to feel something good- to have faith you can be saved at all- and you find out your weird psychic abilities are influenced by the fact you were physically tainted as an infant against your knowledge and wishes (and that your mom basically sold you to the demon who would later burn her alive). the fact that sam keeps carrying on is bananas but also because he feels a need to help people to atone for the evil he knows is inside him. so thats healthy i guess /s. and then this guy’s manipulated into an addiction AND into releasing the literal devil from hell and knocking over the final domino of starting the apocalypse. he hates himself ALREADY but finding out he’s the true vessel of the devil? of lucifer? bro. BRO. the way lucifer talks to him, so familiar from the very beginning, so possessive, like he actually knows sam when he clearly doesn’t. it’s terrifiying that sam’s talking to the devil, that the devil wants him personally to burn the world, but it’s so much worse that the devil thinks he wants it too. lucifer knows all the right buttons to push, knows how to piss sam off in every way imaginable, knows every chink in his armor... because on some level, their story is the same. lucifer hammers it in again and again that he and sam are FAMILY, are the same person, are meant to be one being, two halves of a whole. and..... he’s right on some very basic level. they DO have the same story. they are alike.

but sam’s better than he is. sam always will be. sam took his pain and misery and turned it into good. he helps people like he was not helped. he keeps people safe because he was not kept safe. he reconciles with his brother as best he can and they work together to safe others. sam decided that he would not hurt the world like he was hurt and lucifer decided to make everyone suffer the way he suffered and that is why sam was able to beat him, in the end. because sam has like,,, love in his heart.

Favorite thing about him: Crossing over into neurodivergent territory here but I've always been obsessed with characters that aren't exactly socially aware bc how Relatable. Like in season 13 how stilted and matter of fact he is... Yeah. Also he just tries so hard to be kind at all times and it's so painful but so wonderful to watch.

Least favorite thing about him: He "made" Dean his go-to father /: like Sam and Cas are Right There.

Favorite line: I don't know exactly what my favorite line by him is, and there's probably something I'm forgetting, but “I’m so sorry. I mean my mother died too. Why didn’t I get it. Why didn’t I understand?” hits me so hard every time.

brOTP: once again would like to offer Sam & Jack up to the jury as qualifying for this.

OTP: Uhhhh he is two years old no shipping for him

NOTP: Him with literally ANYONE but ESPECIALLY with Sam, Dean, or Cas.

Random headcanon: Jack, post series, because he is going to be alive obviously, goes to college after pushing from Sam. Dean is a little like "he doesn't need college 🙄" but is the first one to help him find schools. He either goes into a botany major or veterinarian school, to the absolute joy of Sam. I feel like Jack is really into plants. If anyone wants my full post-show headcanon where everyone is alive lmk 💕
