Introductary Post
Well I guess it’s the moment when I introduce myself

Heyy everyone my name is MaĂ« (I use she/her or they/their) I’m 18, I’m a French student currently redoing my senior year of highschool because I failed the first one đŸ€ my previous “general"subject was sciences and this year I decided to change and take economic&social sciences (more my thing), my classes are economic&social sciences, English, maths, philosophy and history-geography
I decided to make a studyblr because I’m a huge procrastinator and I think that keeping a studyblr will help me to have some discipline and motivation. I thought about it a lot before making this account but everyone seems so nice and helpful so why not?
About the things I like:
I love music (all kind but country isn’t really my style
)
I’m a huge Lady Gaga fan
I play the piano
Feminism, lgbtq+ and mental health issues are really important to me
I’m an introvert & a little bit weird
I love reading
I speak French, English with some mistakes (not my first language), a little bit German and a little bit Chinese (only the basis for this one)
I’m also obsessed with stationery but who’s not here? :’)
And that’s it for the things about me👐
For the studyblr that I like the most:
@studyign @studyquill @eintsein @focusign @samsstudygram @minimaliststudy @caffestudy @studyblr @studyhards @studyblvsh
Thanks for reading and sorry for any mistakes.😊

Tumblr media
Hey i’m Jess!
I previously had a studyblr as a sideblog linked to an account that I no longer use, so I decided to make a new tumblr to have a studyblr main blog! My productivity hasn’t been as good as it should be lately so i’m hoping using a studyblr again will help with that.
about me:
- i’m currently a first year university student studying towards a bachelor of science.
- my major is cell & molecular bioscience.
- i’m also minoring in psychology.
 - i’m 18 years old.
- i’m from New Zealand.
-  ISFJ.
interests:
- i’m a reasonably athletic person, in high school I played football and tennis and did dancing. I’m not playing any sports at the moment but I still love to stay active by going to the gym.
- I love black coffee and herbal teas (my favourite tea is peppermint).
- I love calligraphy and i’m trying to teach myself how to do it!
- I love reading, especially self-improvement type books (feel free to send me any recommendations)
studyblrs that inspire me:
@studyquill (Jasmine deserves to be on her own line bc she is goalssss and I have been binge watching her youtube videos on all of my study breaks)

Back to School Resource Masterpost
Hi everyone! It's that time of year again, back-to-school and all the excitement of learning new things, along with the stress and anxiety that inevitably occurs. I've been on Tumblr for longer than I'd like to admit, and have compiled a long list of resources below!
Please note that I did my absolute best to find the original links to all of these posts, but many of them are 4+ years old and the users have changed blog names/deleted. If any of the links don’t work, or there is a link to an original post which I am missing, please let me know! Many of the master posts have dead links so if you find any updated resources please feel free to add on :)

summary notes #1 - study less study smart
a summary of this video by marty lobdell
1. keep track of your attention span, plan your study session and study breaks accordingly
everyone has a different attention span. it can range from 25 minutes to 4 hours. to study effectively, time yourself. take note of when you start to feel tired or bored. mark that time to take a break (for about 5 minutes)
5 thirty-minute study chunks with breaks are more effective than 1 three-hour long session without breaks.
suggestion for types of study breaks by @samsstudygram: x
2. reward yourself after a completed study session
plan your day so that you have time for a reward once you’ve finished studying. choose something that you genuinely love and look forward to.
reinforcing your study sessions with something fun makes you more excited about your studying materials, and the activity in general. eventually, you will be able to extend your attention span, going from 30 minutes to 60, 75, and more.
3. have a separate study space
have a designated space for studying, away from possible distraction.
if you can’t have a separate room for it, have a cue. for example, get a lamp only used when studying. once you turn it on, it’s a cue for you to study. you turn it off, and it’s either break time or you’ve finished for the day. leave your desk as well.
train yourself to use the area for studying only.
4. separate facts from concepts
facts are what you can use rote memorization for. you can look it up using google or reference books.
concepts are what stay with you for a long time. you need to understand them.
how to learn a concept:
take notes during the lecture
break them down
ruminate to discover their meaning
relate them to something you already know
5. form a study group
an instructor probably can’t understand why you’re struggling with a concept, because they’ve been spending a lot of time studying and researching it. but your peers are just as new to the whole thing as you are, you can figure it out together, show one another your thought process. also, you can share the same reference points, making analogies easier to understand and remember.
6. avoid confusing recognition with recollection
when you highlight, you highlight the most important parts. but during revision, you confuse your visual recognition with recollection. you recognize the highlighted parts, because it stood out to you visually, but you don’t really remember it enough to take a test.
if you can recite the content in your own words, when looking up at the sky, then you’ve got it.
7. sleep
your brain can store information better thanks to rapid eye movement sleep (rem).
telling people to sleep doesn’t make anyone money, so you don’t hear this advice in the media often, but it’s the simplest thing to do when you want to learn effectively and efficiently.
8. take notes
everyone knows how to take notes, but it is what you do with them that matters.
you should invest about 5 minutes to flesh out your notes right after the class. you can give it more details, write down your own interpretation. if you leave it for too long, you may forget the meaning of what you wrote, then it’s a wasted note.
if you have questions, you can reach out to a classmate immediately, or ask your instructor. it doesn’t always look like that sometimes, but instructors want you to succeed. you asking them questions also makes them feel important, so it’s win-win.
9. recite
80% of your study time should be spent reciting, 20% reading
recapitulate your lectures to someone else. or have a dialogue with an empty chair. try to think out loud so you know for sure whether or not you’ve got it.
you can also write things down in your own words, whatever suits you.
10. SQ3R
how to use your textbooks effectively:
S: survey the entire chapter, looking through things and pose
Q: questions. if you intend to find something, you’ll find it. have purpose while you
R: read. follow this with
R: recite. follow the advice above so that when the test comes close, you’ll only need a quick
R: review
11. mnemonics
use acronyms, coined phrase, or interacting images
example:
to remember the direction to unscrew a screw: righty tighty lefty loosy
to remember how many calories there are in carbohydrate: car-bo-hy-drate (4 syllables, 4 calories) or c a r, there are 4 wheels on a car
make it weird

🌾10 study tips that have helped me a lot 🌾
1. Give teachers a chance. Maybe two or three chances. Even if their subject or the way they talk etc. is boring. Most times, it’s worth it - it will make you more interested in their class and you’ll learn things better.
2. If I’m ever stressed and need to chill, usually the things that work for me are:
taking a nap
talking to a friend about it
taking a hot shower
watching a funny/silly/cute tv show (my favorites are friends, brooklyn 99, steven universe or some slice of life/shoujo anime/k-drama).
3. always make sure you’re comfortable while you’re studying! I can never get through a long study session without having showered and changed into comfy clothes before starting it. Some people also like lighting candles and having nice snacks around, which are also always a plus! Just don’t put a lot of stuff into your ‘pre-study session’ routine; you’ll end up taking a lot of time to get ready and that can simply turn into procrastination and distraction. Just make sure you feel good enough to start and don’t forget to drink water!
4. I’m even gonna make this a single topic cause!! water is so important and useful!! Not only it helps keeping you fresh (specially if you add some cucumber or strawberries in it!) and focused, it’s also great to keep you awake if you’re feeling a bit sleepy. The effect doesn’t hit you as fast as coffee, for example, but it lasts much longer. Also caffeine is bad for you!! Make sure to not over drink it.
5. Always study keeping in mind how things are gonna fall on your test/exam. Make sure to write down the questions that your teacher asks while giving a class (and their answers, obviously) - these are quite often the things that will fall on your test and the teacher rarely ever writes it down on the board, so it might seem like it isn’t relevant, but it really helps you understand the thought process of the subject better.
6. Speaking of writing down questions, the Cornell Method has always worked really well to me, specially in History classes. It’s also great for memorization and revising!
7. This is something I’m still learning to do, but make sure to revise as much as you can! Doesn’t have to be a big revision; just looking through your notes at the end of the day/week (or even just after taking them!) helps a lot!
8. Please, please, always prioritize your mental health and sleep. You need energy and mental stability to study things properly. If you don’t, your brain won’t be able to select and properly learn all the things you’ve studied that day, you’ll feel super tired and dead inside and you will crash. It’s just not healthy. Don’t listen to the whole ‘you can go out/rest after you’ve passed your exams, it will be worth it’ or ‘my dreams are worth more than my sleep’ trend. Don’t do it!! It’s a trap. I know school usually makes you think you need to give your best at all times, but a) you really don’t; give yourself some slack once in a while, you need it, and b) your best doesn’t have to be working your as* off ‘til 3am everyday. It might just be studying for 4-6 hours everyday. Or eating ice cream and watching tv shows all day at least for one day. Your body decides. Let it be.
9. Use actual flashcards when it’s a very difficult/new subject, not just online ones like quizlet!! (this is a tip I learned from this post)
10. eat well! also maybe try taking vitamins - especially if you’re a useless blob like me and you don’t play any sports! I’ve been taking goji berry capsules and they help me a whole lot, specially if I’m feeling sleepy. Actually any type of berry is great for boosting up your energy!
🍒some rly good posts I recommend:
‘study smarter’ by @sleeptalkz
‘how I increased my productivity by 3x’ by @brbimstudying
‘conquering math’ by @thestudyfeels
‘bujo trackers for getting your sh*t together’ by @etudiaire
‘types of breaks for every situation’ by @samsstudygram
🍒productivity/study life youtubers I like:
rowena tsai (love her, rly good tips on organization and just nice overall aesthetic)
ana mascara (I always watch her videos when I feel like I’m lacking motivation. Her videos talk a lot about that and discipline, and how you should always ‘be comfortable with the uncomfortable’; just 10/10 rly good motivational and actually useful videos overall).
That’s it! sorry if this was too long. I still have some tips left that I didn’t include in this post so let me know if you want me to do another one of these!
