"I asked ChatGPT-" Why not just Google it? And not read the Gemini AI summary at the top but just... actually Google it. Just like... learn the information that you want to know instead of having to have the robot put it all in a neat little wrapper for you like you're a helpless child.

Like seriously every time someone tells me they ChatGPT-ed something it just makes me think of how we have all the information we could ever want at our fingertips to read and absorb and think about at all times, but they have to have the robot chew it up for them and vomit it out. Sometimes it isn't even right. What if you just Googled whatever you need to know, click on a link to go and read an article or something, and maybe you'll learn even more than you bargained for! But no, you want the AI to waste a gallon of water trying to compute whatever you said and then regurgitate whatever you would find through a simple search anyway.

As a rule, every Monday a bunch of websites are checked for the Archive which is generally if new artwork has been snuck up on one that has done so multiple times, vimeo, artstation and speakerdeck. Usually nothing pops up which hey it happens! But just occasionally...

As chosen by yesterday's poll here is very unexpected additional work by Marko Bajic! This was the only Trollhunters addition in the form of Grand Theft Otto.

once again furious at how AI has been implemented and fucking. hyped up and goddamn bullshit. the way its being used to steal creative works and fuck with artists and create porn of real people is fucking NASTY. but god fucking damnit it could be so useful. fucking. ai voice reader for my stupid incomprehensible textbooks where the voice isn't datamined against the person's will. ai npcs that didn't steal their fucking data. ai routine builders that can learn a person's typical day and preferences and help build checklists for people who struggle w tasks. they could be SO USEFUL. but no. no. we can't have useful things. improving lives??? nahhhhhh we've gotta make Pretty Pictures and Steal Fucking Everything to do it

#use duckduckgo bangs are so awesome #basically theyre shortcuts for searching. so like if u search '!images puppies' itd go immediately to the image search section #but also u can do it for specific websites! like '!w puppies' will search wikipedia for puppies. etc #and theres n extension on firefox that lets u make your own custom bangs #so now i have shortcuts for irish dictionary sites and vocaloid sites :]#i think theres also extensions to add them as a general feature to other search engines but like. shrug. just use ddg

I love radians as much as the next gal, particularly because of how they make the e^iπ-1 thing work out (it's because e is a circle in the complex plane) but I do think it's a little wild that most programs default to them over degrees the thing that most people who aren't mathematicians use because you gotta get at least to Taylor serieses before getting why radians are so sexy.

#Less that particular equation and more how beautifully the taylor series works out to give that #But at any rate I do think if I put sin(30) into a search engine it should give me .5 #Actually tbh it's more because you can use small angel approximations but those fall out of the taylor series too #When I say mathematicians I mean people doing serious calc in their work so also physicists and chemists #Plus probably other specializations I'm forgetting or am unaware of #All sorts of variations on those two certainly #the oceanographers for instance #My point is that radians are the superior angle unit for calculus based work #But it's a wash with degrees at best when it comes to geometry #and IMO people are doing geometry more than they're doing calculus #Radians are also basically useless when they aren't presented as fractions of π #Which can't be said about degrees #Anyone who tells you that they have a better grasp of fractions of π than of 90 is lying #Even if they are the sort of person who uses them enough to prefer the humble radian
