Padme and you have been friends for years, you grew up around each other. When Padme was elected Queen at just the age of 14, you were so happy for her. Despite being childhood friends, you're a couple years younger than her.
She took you everywhere, and of course when the people were under attack, she wanted to keep you as close as possible.
You met Anakin the same time that Padme did. Anakin was 9 years old, and Padme was of course, 14. You fell between them in age, only 1 year older than Anakin, meanwhile 4 years younger than Padme.
Anakin took a liking to Padme, while you took a liking to him.
By the end, Padme and your parents decided to send you to the Jedi Temple. You weren't force sensitive and you weren't to be trained. But during the conflict, enemies were constantly targeting you. Your family was a powerful one, and you'd be easier to take out compared to the Queen. So while your family dealt with their affairs, you were to stay at the Temple. If you requested to return home, you must come with a body guard.
So you grew up in the temple, alongside Anakin. You weren't particularly close. Obi-Wan wasn't the one who watched over you unless he had to.
The older you and Anakin got, the more you became friends.
When Anakin turned 16, he kissed you. It was your first kiss and you were shocked at first. But you couldn't think of anyone better to share it with.
You knew you loved him. It became more and more obvious. You never told anyone about it, always worried that it would get Anakin kicked out of the Jedi.
You never talked about your odd relationship with each other. Anakin would always be the one to make a move first, you were too hesitant.
When you were 19, Anakin 18, the tension between you was always thick. He couldn't be around you for too long before he would get excited.
It was like a flip switched for him, constantly wanting to be inside you. One of the times, he saw you staring at him whilst he was training. No one else was in the room, so he took his chance. Not caring if you both were to get caught.
You almost did get caught. Multiple times.
You always wanted more from him, wanting to be with him. But you knew it wasn't possible. Nothing serious at the least.
After Padme became a Senator, she needed body guards. Obi-Wan and Anakin were selected, and since you knew Padme, you were allowed to go along with them.
As soon as Anakin saw Padme, you just knew. You could see it in his eyes, the way he looked at her and not you. He looked at you with a look of...friendship? But other times with lust.
The way he looked at Padme was nothing of how he looked at you. He looked at her with love, adoration. The sensual stare he gave her, was the exact stare you often gave to him.
Padme didn't seem interested at all. At least at first. Throughout the mission, she started to change.
You had to watch the entire time as your best friend slowly fell in love with the man you had loved for years.
You never told Padme, about the dynamic you shared with Anakin.
Anakin would still come to you at night, the stress of the mission getting to him.
The night he cut ties with you was the same night you decided to go back home. You told yourself that you would rather have the chance of dying by a family enemy than to see Padme with Anakin.
Anakin had you bent over the bed of the spare room you were given. It was well past midnight, everyone sound asleep. No present threats.
His right hand ran through his sandy colored hair, his other rested on your hip. Your face was shoved into a pillow, attempting to muffle your moans. Anakin's lips were raw and red, biting down on his lower lip to discourage his own sounds.
And then it happened. He was at his climax and you were too. But when a name fell from his mouth in a whimper. It wasn't yours.
You both immediately realized as he came to a full stop. You quickly pulled away from him. Hurt shown on your face as you quickly got dressed.
He apologized over and over as you threw your clothes back on.
"I didn't mean it-" He whisper yelled at you, grabbing your arm to stop you.
"You said her name. When you're with me. I don't know what we are, but Anakin I have done nothing but wait for you. I was the one who was there when you came back from hard missions. I was the one there when life as a Jedi Padawan was hard...and the really fucking sad part is that I can't even be mad at you." Your eyes filling with tears, sniffles escaping you.
"I never asked you to wait for me." Anakin said harshly, never making eye contact, just staring at the ground.
"We should stop." He continued, his tone softer. You didn't say anything, just staring at him for a second.
Not saying anything, you yanked your arm back from his grip. Leaving the room as quietly as possible, instead going to take a shower as you thought everything over.
Obi-Wan agreed to take you back home when he saw how distraught you looked, even after putting yourself together.
A couple of months pass by, Anakin never told Padme about you, and you still never said a word to her. She was your best friend and you just wanted her to be happy. It would kill you inside anytime she called you and told you about him.
Back home on Naboo, your parents decided it was time for you to marry. They gave you a list of bachelors to choose from.
You finally settled on a man. You liked him and knew that you could grow to love him too. You held off on the wedding, even on the engagement. Just dating and getting to know each other.
You felt...happy? As happy as you could be at the least. He wasn't like Anakin and you weren't sure if that was a good thing or a bad one.
You still loved Anakin, your heart ached for him.
Your future fiancé wanted to take your relationship to the next level but you just couldn't.
You couldn't give yourself to someone, not the way you did with Anakin. He haunted your thoughts.
Padme surprised you with a visit, Anakin and Obi-Wan tagging along too. You avoided Anakin as much as possible. Even during the introduction between your boyfriend and the others.
Padme liked your boyfriend, she thought he was a good choice for you. Obi-Wan approved but Anakin just stayed silent, glaring daggers at the man.
The visit lasted about a week, they weren't staying with you but would come over at least once everyday. You didn't mind since Padme and you were basically sisters.
Anytime Anakin was over, it's like he was trying to get on your nerves. One of the times, Anakin was drinking a glass of water as he leaned against the kitchen counter. Padme had her back to Anakin, sitting across from you on a couch. Your boyfriend sat next to you, an arm around you. He pressed a kiss to your cheek and then you heard breaking glass.
You all promptly turned towards the noise, seeing the cup shattered on the floor as he worked on cleaning it up.
Another time, you and Anakin were in your garden. He obviously had to say something but you kept ignoring him. Just walking away. Padme was resting and your boyfriend was out of the house. He practically chased you around the garden, asking all these questions.
"When did you meet him?"
"Why are you even with him? You couldn't have found someone better?" His questions nagged at the back of your mind, starting to give you a headache.
"Why? Jealous?" You scoffed, tending to one of the nearby flowers.
"Maybe I am jealous. Why does that matter? Have you even told him about me?"
"Why would I tell him about you? You're the one who ended it." You'd remind him, dusting yourself off as you stood, walking towards the fountain. Just wanting some kind of distance.
Anakin would grab your arm, stopping you just like he tried to that night. He'd stare at you, not knowing what to say. "He isn't me." Being the only sentence he can form.
"He isn't you." You vocalize, confirming it. Still unaware of it being good or bad.
"He never will be." Anakin says, frustration evident on his face.
"Anakin just stop. You can't toy with me like this. You chose Padme. You can't just come after me because I'm supposed to marry." Anakin's bottom lip trembles at your words.
"I can't be apart from you. I thought that I wanted Padme. But I just didn't realize I wanted you more. I'm in physical pain when I see him with you. That should be me." Anakin drops to his knees in front of you, his mental pain splayed across his face.
"I would destroy myself and the world if it meant you would forgive me." Anakin's eyes show the agony he feels and it's getting to you.
"You're with Padme. I can't ask you to leave her. She's still my best friend." The sadness in your own voice catches you off guard.
"I don't think Padme ever wanted to be with me." Anakin answered honestly.
"Anakin...I can't say yes to you. Even if I wanted to. I have to marry someone, my parents expect me to." I try to gentle the blow of rejection on him but he persists.
"I'll marry you. I'd do anything to be with you. I'll leave the Jedi Order." He spurts out a string of words.
"Anakin, you're not leaving the order for me. Talk to Padme, if you find a solution...I'll listen." You say, talking your hand back from him and exiting the garden, going back to your home.
A couple of days go by, oddly quiet. Padme and Anakin hadn't stopped by. You broke up with your boyfriend, telling him that you just weren't ready to be committed to him. Your parents were upset and set their sights on looking for a new bachelor until you could stick to one.
You just stayed at home reading books, taking care of your plants and cooking for yourself.
Your kitchen is a mess, ingredients everywhere when the front door opens revealing Padme and Anakin.
"You didn't tell me?" Padme announces, making your blood run cold.
"How couldn't you tell me?" She says as she walks towards you, pulling you into an embrace.
"Our relationship comes before anyone." She states.
"I don't care if you love him. I don't care if he loves you." Padme chimes in, breaking away from the hug before whispering.
"I think I'm a lesbian anyways..." Your eyes widen while Anakin laughs behind Padme.
"Just had to outright say it?" He raises his eyebrow.
"Yep, I'm leaving now, you guys get to talk about what happens between you now." She waves as she closes the front door with her exit.
Anakin looks at you nervously, "I'm still willing to quit being a Jedi..." He chides, trying to give himself some relief.
"You don't have to, we can just...have a private wedding..." You smile, basically tackling him in a hug. Your legs wrap around him as he secures you in place.
He grins down at you, "Yeah, I'd like that."

Fuck it I love you | part III
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: sam carpenter x fem!reader
summary: when paired with Tara Carpenter for a project you were expecting a B or maybe even an A. Not falling in love with Tara's older sister, Sam
series masterlist
words: 1.642k
warnings: bad writing
authors note: a short one but next chap will be much longer :)
You let out a shaky sigh as you grab yet another tissue soaking in the tears rolling down your cheeks at an alarming rate.
Your heart feels as if it was cracking at the borderline cruel words that were said; the word 'why?' in your mind the entire time.
A ring from your phone distracted you from your heart momentarily, sniffling as you grabbed it and answered the phone.
"Hey Y/n, did I leave my watch on the coffee table?" Melanie asks you in a rushed voice as your eyes glanced over the coffee table to see the watch that Melanie owns.
"Yeah it's here." You croak out in a broken voice making Melanie's eyes widen dramatically.
"Y/n? What's wrong? I'll leave this party right now if you need me." She says seriously in a more hushed tone.
You shake your head as a watery chuckle escapes your lips. "No, no it's fine, stay." You insisted as your eyes glanced at the TV screen.
"Why're you crying?" Melanie asks you worriedly, fearing the absolute worst possible thing has happened to you.
And it has. The fucking worst thing.
"I just finished Fleabag again." You inform her as more tears started swarming in instantly at the mention of the show.
Melanie groans loudly. "Fucking hell, Y/n, I thought something actually happened!"
"Something has happened, Melanie. He told her 'it'll pass' that it'll fucking pass!" You sob again as you grab more tissues, your heart cracking even more at the still raw memory.
"You've watched that show so many times how the fuck does the ending still make you cry?" She asks you with a laugh now clearly finding your heart break hilarious.
"She said 'I love you' and he said 'it'll pass.' before saying he loves her too! How could I not cry?" You defended not finding your heartbreak over a TV show humour.
She laughs again. "You and your shows. Chads coming over with shots, I'm off. Toodles."
"Toodles." You sniffle making her let out another laugh before hanging up the call.
You glance at your phone and roll your eyes at the low battery. Typical.
Yeah, it's a Saturday night and here you are, alone in your apartment finishing Fleabag and experiencing the heartbreak that hurts just as much as it did the first time.
Some might say depressing, you say it's the way to live.
With an exaggerated sigh you turn the TV off with the small remote before standing up, heading towards your bedroom to charge your phone.
You reach your desk where the plug is at but frown when you don't see that your charger isn't plugged in.
Where else can it be-
Fuck sakes you forgot it Tara's apartment.
Groaning you grab your phone which only has 3% and shoot the girl a quick message.
Me (20:47pm): hey tar, is it cool if i come over quickly? i forgot my charger there 🙄🙄
Tara🙃 (20:52pm): yeah ofc but-
Before you can see the rest of the text message your phone shuts off to a completely blank screen.
With an annoyed huff you stuff your phone into the pocket of your joggers and go to look for your shoes near the front of the apartment.
At least you saw the permission text you think as you shove your feet into your dirty, broken trainers that you refuse to throw out since shoes are so expensive.
The walk to Carpenter's apartment is only twenty minutes and since the sun hasn't fully set outside you decide a walk won't do any harm.
You're a bit annoyed that you can't listen to any music on the walk so you decide to do the second best thing, think about Sam.
She's just so gorgeous and so sweet with her friends and Tara, how could anyone not constantly think about her?
You've seen Sam a handful of times since the gym, all of them being at their apartment as you and Tara worked on your project.
Tara and you have actually gotten through most of the project so unfortunately you only need to head over there around three more times till the two of you have completed the project.
You can't help but feel relieved to be able to actually finish a project in time before the due date, but there's also a deep pit of disappointment lingering in you too.
What if you never see Sam again after it? There'll be no excuses to come over there anymore unless Tara would invite you over.
Wow, that quickly spiralled into just not happy Sam thoughts.
Thankfully you stop yourself from thinking the worst case scenarios as you've arrived at the apartment complex.
Like routine you head up the stupidly long stairs since the elevator is still broken and after what feels like an eternity you reach their floor.
Knocking on the door three times you patiently wait for Tara to come open the door for you but to your joy it's Sam, looking as annoyed as ever; your heart swoons at the sight.
"What." She grumbled as her eyes travel you up and down, furrowing her brows at your shirt. "What the fuck is your shirt?" She questions before you even get a chance to answer her first question.
You look down at your shirt and giggle not remembering what shirt you're wearing. It's a yellow shirt with a pineapple in the middle wearing a pink thong, under it is the simple word 'Slut'. A shirt you got after your third re-watch of Brooklyn Nine Nine.
"It's from a show, you don't like it? It's actually really soft." You tell her with a smile instinctively feeling your waist to feel the soft texture. "Seriously, for around fifteen dollars and free packing this was a bargain."
Sam hums as she stares at your shirt questioningly before raising her eyes to meet with yours. "And you decided to wear a shirt saying 'slut' in public?"
You nod your head proudly. "Why wouldn't I?"
"People will clearly judge you. Stare." Sam answers speedily as if she already knew what she was going to say.
You shrug your shoulders, a weak laugh escaping your lips. "People who are complete strangers? People who I'll never see again?" You say with a soft smile. "People will always judge, it's our instinct to judge whatever we come across. But you can't let that control your life and stop you from being you; stop that from letting you wear what you want or even like what you like. At the end of the day they're people who I'll never see again."
Sam doesn't say anything for a moment as if she's digesting your words, her eyes never leaving yours for a second. You don't say anything as you gaze back into Sam's cold eyes lovingly.
She leans against the doorframe as she runs a hand through her hair. "Why're you here, Y/n? Tara's not even in."
Your eyes widen as you mentally groan, that was probably the rest of the text message she sent but you couldn't see.
"Shit I'm sorry I didn't know. I sent Tar a message asking if I can come over to get my charger but when she texted back I only saw part of the message of her saying I can come over before my phone died."
Sam sighs as she nods her head weakly stepping back into her apartment as she walks over to her couch, you take this as her letting you to which you do ever so gracefully, shutting the door behind you.
Your eyes avert to Sam's figure sitting on the couch as her back faces you with the TV playing on a low volume, one of your favourite movies playing on the screen.
"I love Little Miss Sunshine." You express with a smile walking towards Sam, resting your hands on top of the couch as you stare at the screen. "It absolutely changed my life, and the first movie I actually loved. Like fully loved."
"It's okay." Sam says with a small smile on her lips as she watches the movie from below you. "I hated it in the beginning but I guess it's sorta growing on me."
"There's a thin line between love and hate." You express your attention only focused on the movie playing on the screen.
Sam tilts her head up as she gazes at your side profile. "I wouldn't say I love it but I definitely like it."
You chuckle at her words, your eyes lighting up in the reflection of the movie that Sam couldn't help but focus on.
"It's growing, right? Give it time and you'll love it like there's no tomorrow." Sam hums very swallowing her eyes and focuses no longer on the movie.
"Did you love it right from the start?" She asks you. Finally you look away from the screen to look into her eyes, a gentle smile grazing your lips.
"Pretty much. You'll love it soon too, I bet you will." You tell her, thinking you're still talking about the movie.
But Sam isn't, Sam isn't thinking of the movie at all.
"But I still don't like some parts of it or even understand it, how're you so sure I'll love it?" Sam tries again, blinking slowly.
You shrug your shoulders before moving around the couch to sit next to her, your thighs touching as you smile at her.
"Give it a chance, this is your first time watching it right?" Sam nods her head. "Then give it a chance, you might surprise yourself and actually really like it in the end."
"Go on a date with me." Sam abruptly asks, barely giving you time to finish your sentence. Her eyes gazed into yours as a small smile nervously appeared on her lips.
Holy fucking shit.

After All This Time
Tumblr media
Can’t keep my mind focused on the last chapter of Pick and Choose (surprise surprise lol) so enjoy this tidbit. :)
Wc: 1.6k
Melissa Schemmenti x fem reader
Summary: Many years after the first time she asked, you’re finally able to give Melissa the answer she’s waited her entire life for.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Melissa sat at the breakfast table with a plate of toast, bacon, and eggs; she smiled up at you as you placed a hot cup of coffee in front of her and took your own seat. She looked out the window to your backyard to watch your adult children play soccer with your husband. You watched as the corners of her eyes crinkled with silent laughter, taking in every detail of her face like it was the last time you’d ever see her again.
Every year, Melissa spent a week of her summer break visiting you and your family in Maine. You were childhood best friends, you went to college together, she fell in love with you and you turned her down to be with your now husband. But even after you broke her heart, she stuck around. Melissa was a bridesmaid at your wedding, and earned the title of ‘aunt’ when your twins were born. She was there for every birthday and holiday, every cheer competition and weekend soccer game, she was even there to make soup and clean waste baskets when the whole family caught the flu one summer break. In turn, you were there for her marriage to Joe and their eventual divorce. You helped her get back into the dating world just to watch her give up and resign herself to a life alone, claiming that having your family to spend time with was enough for her.
“My God, when did they grow up?” The redhead let out a watery laugh as Melanie tackled Ethan to the ground and wiped a tear from her cheek.
“I ask myself that every day. It seems like just yesterday we were planning their baby shower, now they’ve graduated college and are spending their last summer at home before they move away for their big kid jobs,” you said with a wistful sigh.
Melissa glanced at you with sorrow in her eyes and drifted into her own thoughts. Silence filled the air again as you both nibbled at your breakfasts and stared out the window. She wanted so badly for this to be her reality: to wake up every day for breakfast with you, for those two knuckleheads of yours to be her own too, to experience all the little domestic moments in life with you. All of it.
As far as she knew, you never thought about the day she asked you to run away with her in college. You never spoke with her about it after you let her down (except for that one drunken time she asked again at your bachelorette party, but she forgot about that the next day), you just kept going through life as if it never happened. Really, you thought about it every day. Back then your parents controlled every aspect of your life: which college you went to, what you majored in, what you wore, who you were friends with, and even who you dated. They were strict and if they even had an inkling that you were into women they would have pulled back from your life completely, leaving you with nothing and no one. You were scared of losing everything you ever knew, so despite wanting nothing more than to take Melissa’s hand and be hers forever, you married the man they wanted you to and kept your true feelings bottled deep within.
Slowly, you reached for the hand she had wrapped around her mug and held it in yours. She tore her eyes away from the game outside to look at you in shock; you hadn’t held her hand since your wedding day. You leaned across the table and placed a gentle kiss to her lips.
Her brow furrowed in confusion, hand remaining in yours. “Y/N?”
“Ask me again.” You half whispered.
“What the hell are you talkin’ about?”
“What you asked me all those years ago.” You squeezed her hand, your eyes glossy with unshed tears. “Ask. Me. Again.”
Her eyes fell to the napkin on her lap. “I can’t take that heartbreak again, hon. Plus, you have Mike and the kids, it wouldn’t be fair to them. You’ve got a happy family now, you don’t wanna lose that.”
“We’re not as happy as we seem, Red. Besides, Mike‘s always known. You’ve been the one for me since before I could put words to feelings.” You squeezed her hand again, a quiet plea for her to look at you. This time she squeezed back but she still couldn’t bring herself to look up.
She was silent for a moment before she spoke again. “Your mother would kill you.”
You chuckled, “I’m fifty somethin’ years old, it’s past time I cut those apron strings. What’s she gonna do? Take away my inheritance? She’s used most of it to spoil her grandkids anyway.” You lifted her chin to look at you. Your tone turned back to serious. “The kids know too. They won’t tell me they know, but they do. Ethan overheard me talking to Mike a few months ago about the divorce, I heard him run down the hall to tell Melanie. They’re adults now, I think they understand why and how things change.” Your voice caught in your throat, “We’ve known for many years that this marriage would end as soon as the kids were outta the house. Mike and I have talked about it a hundred times. We promised each other that we’d play ‘happy family’ until we knew the twins would be alright. This is our last ‘normal’ week before we sign the papers and our not-so-baby birds leave the nest.”
Mel wiped away the tears that spilled down your cheeks and you gave her a small smile. You’d loved her your whole life, and after everything you’d been through together you never thought you’d feel like you could lose her until that moment. You were so scared she’d walk away, that all those feelings from years ago had been washed away with time.
“Ask me, Mel. Please?”
She opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by the kitchen door swinging open and the twins bounding in to brag about their win against their dad. Mike made his way upstairs to shower without a word. Melanie hopped into Melissa’s lap, earning an ‘oof’ from her, and wrapped an arm around her neck. Melissa had always been her favorite person and you were okay with that, after all she was named after her.
“Aunt Mel, wanna go get ice cream with us to celebrate dad’s defeat?” Your daughter played with the bracelets on Melissa’s wrist, waiting for an answer.
“It’s like 10:30, isn’t it a little early for ice cream, Mini Mel,” the redhead laughed and your daughter’s nose scrunched.
“Damn, what happened to you being the cool mom,” Ethan asked as he stole the last slice of her bacon from her plate. “C’mon, I’m buying!”
Melissa’s smile faltered at the word ‘mom’ but she quickly fixed it, “Next time lead with that, kid. Go start the car, I’ll be there in a second.” She dug into her purse and tossed the keys to your son. Ethan beamed and Melanie raced him out the front door, fighting over who got to ride shotgun. Once everyone was out of the room, she directed her attention back to you.
“Just ask, I promise I won’t hurt you again. I wanna grow old with you and sit in recliners complaining about the price of eggs and milk. I want to spend the rest of my life in your arms. Please, baby.”
She sighed and screwed her eyes shut. You only called her baby when you were drunk. Hearing it come from your sober lips caused her heart to ache. She wanted it, a future with you, with her whole being. “You can’t drop everything for me, Y/N.”
“You’ve dropped everything for me our whole lives, it’s my turn. I’ll go anywhere, do anything, as long as it’s with you. I’m sorry it’s taken me thirty years to get here, but I’m here if you’ll have me. I’d get on my knees to beg, but I’m afraid I’d need you to pick me up.”
Melissa fought tears. “I’ll always pick you up when you’re down, hon, you know that.” She rubbed her eyes, fluffed her hair, and took a deep breath. “After Tweedle Dee and Dum eat their weight in ice cream we’ll talk. I want this, but there’s a lot of emotions that I don’t know how to deal with right this second.”
She began to walk away but you caught her elbow and turned her around. “We’ll talk later, but I still need you to ask.”
You looked deep into her eyes, love and longing swimming around in the pools of green. “Y/N, will you runaway with me and be mine for the rest of our days,” she choked out.
“Only if you promise to always be mine in return,” you teased.
“As if I’ve ever been anyone else’s.” She rolled her eyes and smiled gently.
You kissed her deeply, letting her know how much you truly loved her. Melissa’s hand tangled in your hair, holding you in place. Your whole body burned for her, just as hers did for you. She was the first to release from the kiss and you pouted at the loss of contact. She started walking backwards towards the door to join the twins, a grin on her face so wide you could see all of her pearly whites.
“Forever starts soon, better start packin’ doll.”
You bit your lip and waved as she turned around to leave, muttering an ‘I love you, be safe’ after you heard your kids yell for Melissa to hurry up. Before she was completely out the door she turned her head over her shoulder, “I love you, too. Always have, always will.”
Alicent had thought she saw the last of death for a while. She had seen her grandson killed before her very eyes, seen her daughter’s skewered body upon the ground, a grisly tale of her son skewered through his eye, her other son burnt and suffocated.
She had seen enough death for a lifetime and then some.
When she had been awoken in the wee hours of the morn, it was still dark outside. Her handmaiden roused her from sleep with a panicked plea— the queen was in her labors.
Labors? Lyanna wasn’t pregnant, was she? Surely Alicent would’ve noticed, as they spent every morning together since the girl’s arrival over half a year ago.
She slipped on a housecoat and was escorted to the maester’s offices, where the robed man swept her aside immediately.
“What is going on? Her grace cannot be pregnant, surely?” Alicent questioned, eyes narrowed. She didn’t dare look over at the pale figure in the cot, knowing it to be Lyanna. She wasn’t ready yet to see such pain once more.
“The Queen is… was… roughly five moons along,” he explained softly, “Her chamber maids found her semi-conscious in a pool of her own blood, the room a mess— she… is fighting, surely. But the babe won’t be viable.”
Alicent blinked profusely, searching the healer’s face for any sign of a farce. “You say she was pregnant?”
“A matter of speaking, your grace. She is… laboring as we speak. The babe is stuck, however— at an odd angle.”
“… what does that mean for Lyanna?” she asked, leaning forward. Alicent knew what it meant, of course— death was in the room with them, waiting.
The maester gave the queen mother a hard look and shook his head. “Keep her in your prayers. The King… should be notified.”
—
Alicent sat by Lyanna’s bed, hand in bloody hand with her. The poor girl’s beautiful face was so pale, the blue veins in her half-drawn eyelids were visible.
The labors weren’t much of a ruckus as they usually would be— Lyanna was severely numbed by milk of the poppy, and the maesters pulled out the babe. Alicent caught sight of it— its skin was gray and scaly, with a ridged tail and little budding horns, as well as a pair of perfectly miniature wings. It didn’t breathe, nor cry.
“A son, your grace,” the maester announced solemnly.
The sight made Alicent want to vomit, but she swallowed it back, focusing on Lyanna. “You did so well, my love,” she cooed, dabbing her forehead with a damp cloth, “You did so well.”
“See… may I… see the… the babe?” Lyanna asked, her voice so quiet that only Alicent could hear.
Alicent’s heart clenched, brow furrowed. “Not yet, sweetling. They’re wiping him off now. Do you have a name in mind for him?”
“Aeron,” Lyanna breathed, “For… Aemond… and Daeron…”
A tear rolled down Alicent’s face as she leaned close to Lyanna, pressing their foreheads together. “Oh, my sweet girl,” she whispered, “My sweet, sweet girl. You’re the purest of us all, my love.” she cried fully now, eyes closed. She cared so deeply for the Queen, as if she were her own, or mayhaps more, and seeing the girl in pain agonized Alicent.
Alicent Hightower wept for Lyanna, Aemond, Daeron, and Aeron.
—
Aegon did not arrive until hours later, after he’d been found. He bursted into the room like an ignited dragon. “Where’s my wife? My son?” he demanded. Otto followed behind him.
Alicent stood up, her white nightgown stained in a bit of blood. She stared at her son, eyes narrowed with a fury she hadn’t felt in so long. “Out, Aegon— she’s asleep, finally, out, out!” she hissed, turning the King around and shoving him out of the chamber, closing the door behind them.
SMACK.
Alicent laid a firm slap across Aegon’s face. “What took you so long?! Your wife was bleeding out, laboring your babe into the world much too early! And I saw the marks on her— she isn’t one of your whores, Aegon! What in the Gods’ names are you doing to her?”
Aegon’s eyes immediately watered and he was the very image of a pathetic little puppy. He sniffed. “I didn’t— ‘twas part of our game, mother, I swear!” he simpered. “I never meant it… in a bad way.”
“Your game? Your game? Marriage isn’t a game, Aegon. Sex isn’t a game. You’re the only one she’s ever laid with and that is how you treat her?” Alicent was beyond fuming, not only for her good-daughter, but something within herself that has been long locked away. “Like some toy? She doesn’t know that it’s supposed to be gentle and loving— she must think that it’s normal to be treated in such a way.”
The king shifted uneasily back and forth, looking down at his feet.
“You never learn, do you? You’re just like your father.” she finally spat, eye to eye with her son. Her brown eyes were eclipsed with rage, lip curled before she descended back into the room to sit by Lyanna once more.
Aegon didn’t follow— but he didn’t leave the Keep, either. Later that eve, the outside of his chambers was littered with discarded wine bottles, broken glass strewn about.
—
It was a week before Lyanna finally came back to herself— she was mostly coherent, eyes flitting about the room. A chair, now empty, was set next to her cot.
There was another chair on the other side of the bed, which was filled. A tiny blonde head bobbed up and down behind a book.
Jaehaera.
She was reading, outloud, from a children’s book, legs kicking softly as she read. “It’s said that beyond the wall… there are dragons made of ice. They do not breathe fire, but blow frost from their gullets. Giants with feet as large as…” she paused, squinting, “wheelhouses, are said to ride the ice dragons to battle.”
“Do you believe that, princess?” Lyanna murmured, her voice hoarse from disuse. “Ice dragons and giants?”
Jaehaera blinked, her eyes going wide as she realized that her audience was awake. She ducked behind the book, crossing and uncrossing her legs.
Lyanna hadn’t spent much time with Jaehaera, to be truthful. She didn’t wish to force herself upon the melancholic girl and wished for her to take her time to open up. The young princess had attended breakfast with Lyanna and Alicent a number of times, but usually didn’t speak, unless whispering something to Alicent.
Jaehaera peeked over the book, her violet eyes looking at Lyanna cautiously. “… yes. I believe in ice dragons. Grandmother says…” she giggled softly, pulling the book down further to reveal a small smile, “that they aren’t real n’ the book is made up. But I know the truth.”
“And what is the truth? You must tell,” Lyanna hummed, shifting herself in the cot so she was facing Jaehaera, giving the young girl her full attention. “I must know.”
“They’re real n’ just sleeping beneath the snow, and they lay their eggs in the giant wall in the North. But… they take two… hundred years to hatch!”
“Two hundred years? That’s quite a long time to wait for a baby dragon.”
“Yup. I’m patient, though. Grandmother says it's my best… quar-lity.”
“Quality, sweetling.”
“Qual-ity.” Jaehaera repeated.
Lyanna gave a reassuring smile. “You look quite deep into the book— how long have you been reading for?”
“I came with grandmother… five days ago n’ started reading this to you… four days ago. I thought it might be nice to listen, even if you were sleeping…” she nods to herself, slowly coming out of her shell. “Sometimes, when I sleep, I hear stuff around me and it enters my dreams.”
“Thank you for reading to me, sweet girl. I thought I recalled hearing about ice dragons in my dreams,” Lyanna chuckled. “Will you keep reading to me? Even if I’m not asleep?”
Jaehaera looked down at the book, swinging her legs again. Her cheeks puffed slightly and she looked a bit bashful. “Uhmmm… maybe. Did… you still want to hear it?” she peered at the queen, head tilted. “… I don’t get to do much with friends anymore… they’ve all gone. Grandmother likes my reading but… sometimes she starts crying n’ I have to stop. Father is… too busy.”
The queen felt her heart clench. Out of all of the victims of the Dance— Jaehaera, in her mind, had suffered the most. She lost nearly everyone. “Of course, I’d love to hear you read more. I’m quite interested in what else is beyond the wall, and I simply won’t believe what anyone else has to say about it, it must be you, dear princess.”
The little princess gave a little giggle before she continued to read.
The queen and the princess were inseparable for the next moon– as they had found some sort of comfort in one another. Lyanna would stop to Jaehaera’s chambers and escort the young girl to Alicent where all three of them broke their fast together.
It was certainly an odd feeling for Lyanna, as she never had been really good with children, so to speak. But after Aeron, she felt something was lost from within her. She only remembered glimpses of her son before they took him away. The sight of him, so tiny and riddled with golden and red scales like a little lizard, with a tail and leathery wings. The sight of him had sickened a few of the attending maids, causing them to vomit and clutch their proverbial pearls.
She thought him a beautiful little boy and wished to know if he had his father’s violet eyes, or her brown.
In her dreams, he had a curly mop of white blonde hair and brown eyes with flecks of violet, like wisteria petals upon a pond, shaded by a tree. He would speak to her in hushed tones, holding and tugging on her hand, babbling all sorts of nonsense like children do. She never saw beyond the confines of the small garden they would be in, the outskirts of her vision creeping in lilting black and hazy purple.
But, nevertheless, it was an oasis, bright and sprightly like the first warmth of spring’s sun, warming their skin as Lyanna held Aeron to her hip, peppering him with kisses and love, while they watched ducks swim around in the petal speckled water. Dipping their toes into the chilled pool, a figure would approach. Another crop of blonde hair, somehow so familiar to Lyanna. The shape and gait of the shadow would liken itself to Aegon, but Lyanna could never see his face. He was dressed in black and green, with the crown of the Conqueror upon his brow, the indent of a smile perked upon his silhouette as he sat beside them.
Aeron would be between them, speaking a language that Lyanna didn’t understand, but it sounded similar to High Valyrian. Aegon’s shadow would converse back, but his voice sounded so far away and disjointed, like a distant memory. The specter of the king would take off his crown, and hang it upon Aeron’s curled mop, flashing a toothy white smile and singing praises. A smile Lyanna longed to see.
But it wasn’t real.
None of it was.
Aeron would never grow to be that sprightly little boy, and Aegon… the version that she’d concocted in her head of him didn’t exist.
It likely never would.
These dreams, ever repeating ever since she lost Aeron, would make her wake in a cold sweat, already crying, her nightgown clinging to her like a second skin, sticky and itching. She would get up and pace, trying her best not to wake Jaehaera, who had snuck into her rooms more than once when she had a nightmare, a frequent plague for the young princess.
Some might consider Lyanna’s dreams something of joy– but they seemed like a nightmare to her, an illusion that made her feel like she was going mad. It felt so real, that when she awoke, she could feel her fingers grazing through Aeron’s curls, the soft smell of him was alive and well in her room. Until a gust of wind would dissipate it.
And she would be alone with her thoughts, her longings and her dreams once again. She would crawl back into bed and wrap her arms around Jaehaera.
One eve, late into the night, Lyanna felt the indent of weight upon her bed. She didn’t open her eyes, as she was still flitting between consciousness and sleep– but her hand wandered over, expecting to feel Jaehaera. “... bad dreams, Haera?” she mumbled, her hand searching for the little princess’ own.
“... ‘tis not Jaehaera.” a voice murmured. Aegon.
Lyanna’s eyes snapped open, turning towards her husband, whom she hadn’t spoken to or really seen since Aeron’s passing. “Aegon?”
“... yes.” he whispered. He sounded small, like his vocal chords were stuck in a shell, echoing and far-flung from his usual cocksure smugness.
“Are you… alright?” she asked then. She should be angry, she really should– but she had just had her dream again, where he had been so alive, so lovely and right that she couldn’t be mad at him in the moment. Her mind was still swimming with the illusion she’d created of him.
“No,” he breathed, shifting closer to her slightly. “Something is wrong with me.”
“Are you ill? Shall… I get up and call a maester?”
“No–” he pressed, his hand reaching out to grasp Lyanna’s wrist. It wasn’t harsh or forceful, but urgent, like a plea. “Stay. I… I need to explain myself.”
Her muscles tensed for a moment as she felt his hand upon her. It was warm and slightly calloused, but familiar nonetheless. “... okay.”
“I haven’t… picked up a bottle in near a moon, nor… touched a whore. I-I’ve been good,” Aegon whimpered. “I’m so sorry, Lyanna. For everything– Gods, I’m a fucking monster. I-I don’t know why I’ve done the things I did or said. It’s eating me from the inside like a sickness,” he took a shaky breath, sniffling all the while. He was crying. “I-I… I wanted to push you away. The moment I saw you with your… big brown eyes, so close to tears– I felt sorry for you, to be paired with me. You were good and pure and innocent– you didn’t deserve any of this– if I hadn’t been such a fucking coward, you… might still be carrying our son.”
Lyanna didn’t say anything, but her breath hitched slightly at his words. They were clear and concise– tear laden and full of sorrow but it was the most sober she’d ever seen him, the most lucid.
“I can’t feel that it's my fault. Because I was too weak to say no to them, to put my foot down and refuse. I basically killed them all,” he continued. “I’m just a Godsdamned coward and I should be put down like a dog for what I’ve done, for what I allowed to happen– my entire family save for three people who don’t see me as anything more than a disappointment are all dead, Lyanna– I could’ve… I should’ve… I should’ve kicked and fought against it, told them to fucking stick the crown where the sun doesn’t shine. What kind of brother usurps his sister’s throne? What… why did I let that happen?” his hand was shaking against her wrist now, his voice breaking into small blubbers. “I’m a fucking Kinslayer, Lyanna.”
She didn’t know what to say, truly. But the sheer ache she felt in the depth of her chest caused her to reach out her free hand and thread her fingers into his hair, pulling him closer to her as he cried, his entire body violently wracked with his sorrow.
It all suddenly made sense to her– the drinking, the whoring, the violence, the barbed words. He was punishing himself, his damnation pushing away everything that may even be a little good in his life. He was sentencing himself to a life of ruination until it consumed him completely, leaving nothing left behind but a husk; all because he thought he deserved it. Because he thought he killed everyone he’d ever loved.
It made sense.
Lyanna held him close to her chest, hushing and soothing his sobs. He had let go of her wrist to wrap his arms around her in turn. “I know,” she breathed, holding him like she had wished to in her dreams, tightly as so he wouldn’t disappear. “You only tried to… please… them– didn’t you?”
He nodded slowly.
“You just wanted to be loved.”
The Introduction <-
Tumblr media
A New Friend, A New Enemy
“Y/n!”
You slip off your headphones and greet your grandmother with a smile, laughing when she squeezed you tight. It had been almost 8 months since you watched her wave her hand of farewell in the rear view mirror. You had missed her the most, you think. Her warm hugs, her calming perfume, the way she cared for you.
“Come on, I’ve made us some lunch.” She hurries you inside and you laugh again.
“I need to grab the rest of my things, first.” You shake your head in amusement, escaping her clutches and darting back to the taxi, thanking the man for pulling out your luggage.
Just as you hitch your duffel bag over your shoulder, your eyes catch something familiar a few houses down. A worn out and beaten Chevrolet sat abandoned outside of its former resident’s house, a white piece of paper resembling a ticket you had seen when the mechanics would return your property if not claimed. You could just make out the ‘for sale’ sign driven into the mud, your heart wrenching. You had hoped your return would be free from unwanted memories. That obviously didn’t exist in Hawkins.
“So, tell me everything. How’s Stanford?” Gran rushes through with excitement just as your feet are barely inside the door. “Oh, we are so proud of you, honey. Our little star, a Stanford journalist!”
“Gran, you know it’s only my first year, I haven’t even managed to write anything let alone publish it.” You say, following her with your bags. She was leading you up to the guest room. Well, technically, it was your room. You had never really accepted that.
“Oh, did you notice the Hargroves house is for sale?” She whispers out like an unspeakable secret, and you dump your bags on the floor.
“Yeah, I saw.” You try to remain emotionless, rolling your shoulder until the usual ache faded. You were used to it now, the muscles flaring up every now and then.
“Apparently- now, you didn’t hear it from me…” She starts to lean in and you suppress a smile. Your grandmother, the gossiper. “Apparently, the husband just took off.”
“What?” You suddenly gain interest, frowning.
“Oh, yeah. The end of last summer.” She nods knowingly. “Must have been hard for them after their son died. It was a tragedy. And that poor girl… Andrea down the road told me she and the mother were forced to move into the trailer park down by Kerley. Not fit for a child, if you ask me.”
“They obviously couldn’t afford anywhere else.” You say, mostly to yourself, and Gran simply hums in agreement.
“Oh, which reminds me, Melanie, the one with the bird nest hair, she…”
She begins rambling once again about the neighbourhood, obviously pleased to have her granddaughter back so she can share the gossip. You listened intently, nodding when you needed to, offering your own remarks when prompted. You loved your Gran. The thought of her being alone in this house affected you more than you realise.
The real reason you were back wasn’t because you had missed Hawkins. In fact, you were set on your Spring Break exploring Stanford and all it had to offer. But about two months ago, your grandad was omitted to the hospital and a week later, he was no longer with you. Your Gran had shared how his health had been deteriorating for a while now, that they had expected it sooner or later. So, in the end, it wasn’t a surprise. It didn’t make it any less sad.
“Should I be expecting guests for dinner?” She asks and you blink, frowning.
“Guests?”
“Your friends.” She reiterates, already busying her hands by pulling out your already folded clothes from your suitcase and refolding them how she liked it. “I assume everyone will be anxious to see you. It’s been eight months, hasn’t it?”
“Uh…” You purse your lips, shrugging. “I don’t know, I thought it could just be the two of us tonight.”
Gran gently places down a sweater and eyes you suspiciously. “So, you’ll be seeing them tomorrow?”
“Maybe.” You give off the first vague answer in your head, fiddling with the sleeves of your jacket and sitting down on the plush bedding behind you.
“Hm.” She sounds, sliding shut the first drawer before she silently walks around the bed and sits beside you. “You won’t be seeing them, will you?”
It wasn’t a question. You lift your eyes to meet hers and sigh.
“We aren’t as close as we were before, Gran. It’s… complicated.” You decide and she takes your hand in hers.
“You’ve known them since you were just a little sprout.” She ruffles your hair and you cringe, laughing and batting her hand away. “I’m sure whatever happened can’t be so complicated that you can’t… I don’t know, catch up over coffee? Or whatever you kids are doing these days.”
“I wish it was like that.” You say, and you meant it. After a moment, she seems to understand that you didn’t want to continue this particular conversation and she stands, brushing her outfit back into simple perfection.
“Well, sandwiches, anyone?” She offers and you grin, nodding.
The day before you left for Stanford, you were contemplating whether or not it was the right choice. Gran was right, you have known them since you were a kid. But last summer changed all of that. You weren’t sure you could see their faces ever again.
So, rather than try and find them, you decided to spend the next day unpacking. You’d be here for a month so it made sense to have everything neat and tidy. It was just until the funeral, and then you’d be back at college and studying away any memory of Hawkins being your home. Because it wasn’t. Not anymore.
You can hear the distant ring of the phone echoing up the stairs, continuing to pull out your books. You might as well be caught up with your classes if you were going to spend all your time inside.
“Y/n!” Gran calls up and you push away from the desk to lean over the banister.
“Yeah?” You ask as she stares up at you, the phone in her left hand while the right covered the receiver.
“It’s your friend.” She says with a small smile and your face drops into a frown. “She says it’s urgent.”
“Uh…” You shake your head. Who would be calling you? “Yeah, I’ll be down in a sec.”
Gran nods and relays the information, setting the phone on the side table and disappearing back into the kitchen.
Your footsteps were wary as you descend the staircase, eyes set on the white object beside one of your grandmother’s vases. There was a hauntingly familiar rush of adrenaline coursing through your body, one you hadn’t felt in a long time. Once you reach the table, you shift your focus to the photo frame. It was small, a collected memory from a few years ago now. You were stood there smiling, the camera capturing you in pleasant surprise when a brunette girl behind you had jumped onto your back. It made your eyes sting, and you knew you had to make the decision to answer the call.
Hesitantly picking up the phone, you hold it to your ear and close your eyes.
“Hello?”
“Y/n?” Nancy’s voice blares through and your eyes snap back open.
Barrels of apologies and excuses spewed from her lips and you stand in silent shock, clutching the receiver a little too tight. She could only be calling for one reason. You had known it before you had even answered the phone.
Something was happening in Hawkins. Again. And if Nancy was calling for help, then she truly needed it.
And you’d never let her down.
Tumblr media
“Have we met before?” You ask, studying the girl stood next to you.
The walls of the archive were surprisingly bright, shining an iridescent hue on her dark blonde locks. Her blue eyes were blinking back at you, pink lips stuck in a soft pucker of indecision. She was pretty. Really pretty. And at the same time she looked effortlessly cool, a jacket you wished you own. Something about her felt familiar to you, drawing you in.
Then a pang of guilt hits you and you force your concentration on waiting for her answer.
Robin felt weak. Who were you? It was taking everything in her to open her mouth and speak which, as literally everyone knew, was incredibly unlike her.
“I don’t think so.” Robin finally breathes out. There was softness in the way you spoke to her too, calming her nerves. Those strange waves of anxiety were being taken with the tide like you were her lighthouse in the stormy sea of her mind.
“Oh.” You scrunch your face with a smile. “Well, it’s nice to meet you.”
She was surprised to see you put out your hand but she willingly shakes it anyway, smiling back.
When you pull away, Robin seems a little more comfortable, coming closer to peer down at your old project folder, reading along with Nancy. You tried not to stare, busying your eyes with your own work in Nancy’s hands.
“Anything… juicy over there?” Robin asks Nancy and the girl throws her a tight lipped smile.
“Nothing new yet.” She responds and you notice the strain in her voice. She adopted it any time she was struggling to enjoy somebody’s presence.
“Victor seemed like a normal guy. Dead family, missing eyes, took a plea deal, sent to Pennhurst. Blah, blah, blah, blah.” Robin utters as she skims over the page below, slowly raising her head to look at Nancy. “What are we looking for exactly?”
Nancy doesn’t respond and continues flicking through the pages, making Robin’s eyes widen.
“Nance?” She tries again and you frown.
“She’s focused.” You offer, smiling. “She zones in so much that she zones out sometimes.”
“Right.” She nods slowly, still staring at her. “Um, so are we, uh… looking for any mentions of dark wizards or alternate dimensions? Things in that vein?”
You remember something and open your mouth to speak before Nancy interrupts with a huff.
“I don’t know, okay?” She sighs loudly, leaning against the desk and meeting Robin’s eyes. “It’s starting to seem like this was just a big waste of time. And you’re obviously bored so why don’t you just call Steve? I’m sure he’ll come pick you up. And I mean, I’m not really in danger here, so…”
With that, she walks away from the table and grabs another folder you had brought, furiously flipping through as she travels down a different staircase to the filing room. Your eyebrows raise.
“Woah.” You simply say, noticing Robin’s frown. “She’s, uh… hell, I don’t even know. Nance gets ultra focused when she thinks she has a lead on something and, well… she doesn’t like to get it wrong. Which is understandable.”
“So, she acts like this with other people?” She asks and you tighten your lips.
“Um…”
“Okay, that’s a no.” Robin groans, dragging her hands down her face. “I’m trying, I really am, I just struggle with whatever the hell bonding is meant to be, I mean me and Steve literally only bonded because we were both getting tortured and thought we would die. Which, no, not an ideal way to start a friendship but you know what, it’s better than whatever the hell this is.”
“You were at Starcourt?” You frown and she looks back at you, eyes wide like a deer in headlights. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have brought that up-”
“No, no, it’s okay.” She waves her hands, “I, um… no one really mentions it anymore. Unless it’s the news and they’re pretending like it was a-”
“Fire, yeah. I heard.” You say, staring at the stairs Nancy descended. “How did all of this start?”
“Excuse me?” She blinks and you turn your attention back to her.
“This… Vecna, was it? How did it start?” You repeat, shaking your head. “Nancy could only tell me so much over the phone so I’m a little behind.”
“A girl was found dead in the trailer park.” Robin relays, gulping. “Chrissy Cunningham? She’s a cheerleader. Was. They found her with all her bones snapped and her eyes were… gone. They think Eddie Munson did it-”
“Eddie?” You gasp, and Robin looks surprised. “No, Eddie wouldn’t do that-”
“We know. Trust me.” She says hurriedly, “He told us everything that happened. Apparently she was floating in the air and her bones were snapping- it’s a really gruesome story but the same thing, like, just happened to Fred and we need to figure out who this Vecna is before someone else gets hurt.”
“Okay.” You breathe and she raises her brow.
“Okay? I just unloaded a dump of hell onto you, and it’s okay?” She sounded intrigued and you shrug.
“The last few years have been… weird. To the point where weird sounds normal now.” You say, a soft frown on your features.
Robin wasn’t entirely sure where you fit into all of this. Sure, you had information they needed, you’ve been a part of their group for some time, you made sense. What she was struggling to understand is why you were here now. And why you weren’t here before.
“How’d you meet everyone?” You ask before she can. Any thought she had of questioning your arrival was cleverly misplaced. For the moment.
“I worked with Steve at Scoops Ahoy last year.” Robin nods and you frown.
“But I never…” You start before your eyes widen, mouth curling into a smile. “Oh my god, yes! I do remember you!”
“You do?” Robin tries to comb back through her memories.
“Yeah, Max dragged me there maybe… a week after it opened? She was telling me about Steve’s little sailor outfit and of course, I didn’t believe her, so she had to show me proof.” You giggle to yourself, meeting her eyes. “I remember you were taking a break outside, Max introduced us. Well, kind of. She never got to my name before Steve arrived with that stupid frown on his face.”
“I don’t remember that.” She frowns and you bite your lip, shoving your hands into your jacket pockets. “Sorry, I don’t mean that in like, a mean girl way. I mean, my memory is apparently broken because I’m very sure I would have remembered you. Not in a weird way, either, like- I just think you make an impression on people- a good one. Not a bad one.”
“It’s okay.” You laugh and she shakes her head enough to make her bangs sway in her embarrassment. “I looked a lot different then. And I was, like, super shy. I was probably hiding my face or something.”
“Hold on.” She blinks with a smirk. “You’re the girl? Like, the girl?”
“Am I meant to know what that means?” You squint your eyes.
Robin simply laughs to herself until she clocks your confusion. “No, I… Max did bring someone in for, like, one of our first ever shifts together. I remember because when they left, Steve looked like some kicked puppy and I couldn’t work with him and that stupid frown so I made him tell me what was bothering him. Apparently, the girl that left was the girl he couldn’t get in high school and it ‘haunts’ him. It’s so stupid.”
You go quiet and her eyes widen.
“Oh god.” She covers her mouth. “Did I talk too much again? God, I’m sorry- I literally can’t control my mouth.”
“No, you’re right.” You say, shaking your head. “Steve… he and I don’t really get along. Opposite ends of the high school popularity pool until I won this debate contest and suddenly everyone wanted to be my friend. I didn’t think it was that big of a deal, but suddenly I was on Steve’s radar and, well, you know the rest.”
“You can do better.” She simply nods and you raise your eyebrow at her remark. “What? Oh, he’s amazing now. Like, a genuine gentleman kind of guy, but King Steve? Whew, that boy needed a leash or something.”
“You guys are pretty close, huh?” You ask and she smiles.
“Yeah, he’s my best…” She begins before her face drops. Oh.
“What?” You ask when she starts walking away.
“I know why!” She exclaims before turning her heel and marching down those steps to Nancy, finding her sorting through the filing cabinet.
If Nancy heard her, she didn’t acknowledge it. Robin felt so stupid. It had been a while since she’d been a part of ‘girl world’ or, more specifically, ‘girl-code world’. The thought of there being any tension hadn’t even crossed her mind before.
“You do know that Steve and I are, like, totally not a thing, right?” Robin asks breathlessly, leaning against the wooden banister.
“What?” Nancy frowns, shaking her head and turning to look over her shoulder.
“So I figure that you and Jonathan are still going strong ‘cause you guys are going to college together, and you’re like one of those unstoppable power couples, but I… I just… I wanted to make sure that you knew that Steve and I are just friends. Like, platonic with a capital P.”
Nancy’s response in underwhelming at best, a tight lipped smile and Robin almost groans in frustration. She can hear your sneakers steadily descend the stairs and she turns back.
“Just in case that’s adding any tension between us.” She expresses to Nancy and you frown at the interaction.
“It wasn’t.” Nancy replies and Robin sighs.
“Uh…” You start to say, both pairs of eyes immediately looking at you. “Sorry to, um, interrupt. I have stuff I need to do…”
“Right.” Nancy blinks apologetically, looking back at the folder in her hands. “I’m so sorry, I really thought I was going to find something. I… I didn’t want to drag you into this, really, it’s just-”
“Hawkins.” You finish her sentence, stepping off the final stair and leaning against the banister. “Yeah, I know.”
“Holy shit.” Robin gasps, suddenly grabbing the folder out of Nancy’s hands despite her silent protest. “Is that from The Weekly Watcher?”
She points to a specific part of one of the tabs and you move to peer over her shoulder, nodding.
“Don’t they write about, like, Bigfoot and UFOs?” Nancy scoffs, already dismissing the idea.
“First of all, UFOs are absolutely real. Bigfoot I’m still on the fence about.” She comments and you hum agreement. “But may I remind you we are looking for information on dark wizards? If someone’s gonna write about that, it’s gonna be these weirdos.”
“She’s not wrong.” You add and Nancy’s eyebrows raise in surprise. “Yeah, there’s a whole article about Victor Creel. He claimed that a vengeful demon killed his family. Obviously I only added a reference for context, I never actually believed it. You know, before…”
You vaguely gesture the space around you and Robin flips the page over.
“According to several insiders, Victor believed his house was haunted by an ancient demon.” Robin read aloud, and you could feel the goosebumps prickle along your skin. “Victor allegedly hired a priest to exorcise the demon from his home- pretty novel for the 50s, Exorcistwasn’t even out yet.”
“Keep- keep going.” Nancy insisted and Robin frowns.
“That’s all that’s here.” She says and Nancy looks at you.
“He claimed that the exorcism failed.” You recall, staring at the cut out photo of the Creel Family. “He said it angered the demon. It murdered his family, removing their eyes.”
“Did it say why he wasn’t killed?” Robin questions.
“Victor believed he was spared as a punishment.” You say with a twist in your stomach. His whole family died. He was all alone.
“Yeah, that’s pretty convenient for Victor.” Nancy mumbles and Robin frowns.
“Yeah, or super inconvenient.” She challenges, her eyes looking at yours for support. You simply nod, feeling sick. “Victor was declared legally insane by the court, right? Well, what if this is why? I mean, it sounds pretty insane, it just didn’t go public because-”
“The plea bargain.” Nancy jumps in, and you can see her trying to slot all the pieces together, “The records were sealed.”
“What if a demon did invade Victor’s home.” Robin glances between you both. “It’s just, this demon wasn’t any old demon.”
“It was Vecna.” Nancy finishes, and you immediately start shaking your head.
“Okay, you guys got everything you need?” You quickly rush out, sorting the folder around so it would shut. “Actually, you know what, you guys can just keep that, I need to-”
“You’re leaving?” Nancy frowns, following you as you jog back up the stairs and to where you had dumped your bag before. Robin hurriedly grabbed your folder and followed suit.
“Yeah, I told you, I have stuff to do.” You mutter an excuse, slipping your bag over your shoulder.
“But what about-”
“No, Nance.” You suddenly say, much stricter than you intended it to be. You pause your steps, taking a deep breath to look her in the eye. “I hate that there’s something new terrorising Hawkins. And I’m sorry you have to deal with it. I am. But that’s your choice. I can’t do this again.”
Robin stood there, clutching your folder to her chest. Nancy was struggling with her words, and you didn’t look like you were going to stick around long enough to hear them.
“We need you.” Robin blurts and you look at her, frowning. “I’m sorry, but we do. You know more about this case than any of us, you dedicated, what, a whole month? Maybe more? To learn about the Creel House, about the murders. You have information we can’t possible find because Hawkins doesn’t like to keep around its records of murder, and- and Nancy said you were great at this detective stuff which basically means you know what we need to do next.”
Rather than respond, you start weighing your options. The best decision you ever made was leaving all of this behind. Stanford had everything you wanted; hope. Anytime you decided to help them, it was always your life you were risking. That they were risking. Why would this time be any different?
“I really hope you win this.” You finally say, offering half a smile before you push through those doors and don’t look back, disappearing into the darkening shadows outside.
“Damn it.” Nancy curses, resting a hand on her hip and the other on a table.
“What happened between you guys?” Robin asks into the silence and Nancy looks up.
“What do you-”
“I don’t want a vague answer.” She says, still clutching onto the folder pressed against her chest. “She looked terrified. Which, yeah, it makes a lot of sense under normal circumstances. But this was more like PTSD kind of terrified. What the hell happened last year that no one’s telling me?”
The silence left Robin in the dark, Nancy’s features pouring over in restrained emotion.
Tumblr media
By the time you had dug out your keys with trembling hands, you could feel the prickling of tears threaten to spill at any moment. They had no right to ask that of you. Especially not Nancy. She was there last year, she knows why you left. And yet again, none of them were listening to you.
You sat in your grandad’s old armchair for about an hour, a book resting on your lap but it remained untouched. It would just be another distraction, another reason to pretend like nothing was wrong. To stop yourself from remembering, feeling.
It’s why you went to Stanford, really. You didn’t care about journalism like you used to. But the work load was almost unbearable, which meant that every waking moment would need to be dedicated to studying. If you didn’t occupy your mind, you’d have to relive last year.
“Hi, sweetie.” Gran says as she enters the room, a shopping bag in one hand. You hadn’t even heard her key in the door. “Did you see your friends?”
“Yeah.” You clear your throat, setting aside the book and leaning forward.
“What did you kids get up to?” She asks before quickly disappearing into the kitchen to set down her groceries. When she returns, you have your head in your hands.
You can feel her fingers gently pry away your hands as she takes the chair opposite you, smiling like she already knew what was going through your head. Looking at her, the way her eyes were glazing over, you felt so selfish. You had left to escape everything that happened last year, and you had left her for months to deal with it all alone. Here you were, wallowing in self pity because your friends hadn’t been there for you when you needed them, and it turns out you’re doing the exact same thing to her.
“I’m so sorry.” You say, wiping away the tear that trickles down your cheek. “I should have stayed with you and Grandad.”
“What?” She frowns lightly, shaking her head. “Darling, no. All we ever wanted for you was to get out into the world, find something that made you happy.”
“But I’m not happy.” You express, catching a sob that threatened to escape. “I just wanted to get away, get out of Hawkins. I wasn’t even thinking about it, I- I just couldn’t…”
Her hand suddenly finds your own, squeezing it tight.
“It’s okay.” She says and you lift your head up. She continued smiling, but it was much sadder now. “No one can expect you to move on from what happened last year as quick as that.”
“And what if I never move on?”
“It’s not about moving on.” She smiles. “It’s about acceptance. It’s about holding onto the memory because you cherish it, not because you are haunted by it.”
The clock in the distance could be heard counting the seconds as you sit there in silence. She was right, as per usual. You weren’t letting yourself feel. You should be embracing the fact that you still had her. Even with all Hawkins has been through, you still had her.
Your heart pangs with panic. She was still here.
“I should be getting to bed-”
“Come with me.” You offer suddenly and she raises her eyebrows.
“To Stanford?” She says as if it were absurd.
“I’m serious. Let’s move away, start fresh. We’ll find somewhere new, Gran. Please.” You beg and she offers a smile, capturing your hand by placing another on top.
“Hawkins is my home. It always has been. I was born here, I met the love of my life here. I watched my little one grow up and, when he had little ones of their own, I watched them grow up too. This is where my family is. I… I can’t leave.”
“No, don’t worry, I’ll get it.” You say, smiling. “You should get some rest.”
Your heart wrenches. If only she knew what you did. About what really happens in Hawkins, what lurks there in the dark. She can’t stay here, not when you know it isn’t safe. Not when she’s all you have left.
Three knocks echo out from the front door, and Gran shifts in her seat, quickly glancing at the clock. Who would be here at this hour?
“Thank you.” She stands with you, squeezing your hand as she dropped it. “Try and get some rest.”
You wait until she’s heading up the stairs and out of earshot before you rush to the door, gently brushing aside the small curtain and frowning at the silhouette. It wasn’t who you had expected.
The door is open barely four inches before she starts talking at you, ring-donned hands clasped together.
“Look, I know we’ve literally just met. And I probably- no, I definitely don’t have the right to ask you to stay with us, but we’re basically alone right now. Half of us are in California, we don’t have any connections in the sheriff’s department anymore. Everyone who would know what to do is gone, and you’re kinda the only person left who can help us. I get so much happened to you last year and I- I can’t imagine what you’re going through, but if there’s even a tiny part of you that wants to do this, then please listen to it. Please.”
Robin didn’t know what she was expecting when she left the school. Her feet had taken her further than her mind was planning, but she knew she had to find you. Max was in trouble, and they were all way in over their heads to not have help. Nancy refused to bother you any further, and she understood, she really did, but this wasn’t a normal circumstance. This was bigger than all of them, bigger than everyone.
“Robin?” You say, brows scrunched together in surprise. She thins her lips.
“Sorry to just blurt that all out, but I didn’t know if you were just gonna slam the door on me- or maybe I’d forget what I wanted to say.” She explained, feeling the embarrassment creeping up her cheeks. She didn’t want to say the wrong thing to you. “Max is in trouble.”
“What?” You sobered at the thought, leaning closer to her. Then, in a moment of split decision, you glance back up the stairs before stepping outside and closing the door behind you. “What happened?”
“We found a connection between all the victims.” Robin tries to explain, and you noticed how expressive she was with her hands. “Basically, Max has the same symptoms as the rest of them, and she’s, like, 100% sure she’s next of Vecna’s kill list.”
“Is she okay?” You ask, and Robin can see the desperation behind your eyes.
“Yeah. Shaken up, but she’s fine. For now.” She clears her throat, a pleading look as she stares at you. “We need to find Vecna as fast as we possibly can before he can get to her. I… I know about what happened last year. About your dad.”
You seem taken aback by her knowledge, eyes darting down to your shoes.
“I don’t blame you for wanting to leave all of this behind.” She sympathises, and she let herself be much calmer than she felt. “But I’m asking you if you’ll help us.”
Your heart was aching as you wipe your sweaty palms against your jeans, barely even feeling the cold rush of wind hitting your bare arms. You had meant what you said earlier; you couldn’t do this again. It took everything in you to move out of Hawkins, go to college and live a life the person you loved the most couldn’t do anymore.
But you were currently stood in front of a door. And behind that door, was the last person you had left, and she wasn’t planning on leaving her home any time soon. As it turned out, fleeing wasn’t an option for everyone else.
“I’ll do it.”
Robin blinks, studying you for any ounce of uncertainty. You looked deadly serious.
Maybe, just maybe, with you by their side, they were taking down Vecna after all.
Tumblr media
A/N: This is just a synopsis from my storyboard. I have so many requests and stories to complete before the new year. So I here's a short angst story.
Warning: mention of drug abuse, mention of abuse, mention of toxic relationship. (Took inspiration from Melanie Martinez song powder and the TV series: Euphoria.
Tumblr media
The story will follow the toxic/destructive best friend relationship between Gojo and Reader. Gojo is madly in love with a woman who’s struggling with her drug addiction who is also in an abusive relationship with her current boyfriend (Tetsu) at the moment. Despite being beaten, drugged and harassed on a daily basis, she refused to break up with her boyfriend and Gojo could not bear to see her suffer anymore.
He begged, plead with her to leave but instead of listening to his pleas’ she’ll try to manipulate him into giving her money to buy her drugs (opioid, morphine and cocaine). He falls for her manipulation constantly, always giving her money to feed her drug addiction. On top of that, she’ll also beg him to turn a blind eye to her cuts and bruises whenever she shows up at his door.
It pained him to see her like this, battered and bruised from her relationship with Tetsu. He’s tired to see her high and confused from the amount of pills or powder she sniffed. He’s tired of picking her up off the streets, dirty and damn near naked, whenever Tetsu throws her out of the house. He’s tired of dressing her bruise, wrapping her sprained ankles, and cleaning her busted lips. He’s tired of watching his best friend suffer before his eyes.
So he tried to love you as best as he could, even if it meant letting you use his body for sexual pleasure whenever you felt the need to have a cock in your cunt. He tried providing a safe haven for you to come to whenever you were too tired of Tetsu beating and abusing you for no reason at all. Gojo was willing to fight for you.
He tried, tried to help her out her mess. He provided her with many opportunities, and opened a million doors for her to get clean and help with her abusive relationship. But she never goes, she refuses to leave, even if the tears were streaming down his face endlessly.
Eventually he got tired, and decided that he’s just gonna let her be her.
Y/N showed up at his door, pleading and crying for money to buy the drugs that he promised he'd buy for her. He had them in his hand just moments away from giving it to her but he did, he refused to watch his best friend end her own life with these damn pills. He’s not going to be the one to push her to this point. Not anymore, he’s done with helping you. You’re on your own now.
But he wasn’t really done with you, because after you stormed away from his home, you went missing for a month. No one knew where you were, no one knew if you were ok. And because of this Gojo took it upon himself to go find you and when he did, you were damn near death.
He took it upon himself to get her to the hospital as quickly as possible. Upon arrival at the hospital the nurses were quick to take her away from him and rushed her to the ER as quickly as they could to get the drugs out of her body. Luckily Gojo found her on time because any later than the time he found her, she would have probably been dead. While he waited for the doctors and nurses to care for Y/N he took it upon himself to call Geto and informed him that he had found Y/N.
During the conversation with Geto, he gave Gojo the hard truth about his toxic relationship with Y/N. He poured his heart out to Gojo and he let him know that he continues to keep her in his life, then maybe one day Gojo will be on his way to the mental facility or worse his grave. Gojo knew that what his friend was telling him is just the truth, so Geto left Gojo with a decision to make. It's either you leave or you continue to go down that path to death with her.
Back to Y/N, After being treated and cared for by the doctors and nurses she ended up being unconscious for days. When she finally woke up she was greeted by no other than her best friend/lover Gojo. They talked for sometime until it was time for Gojo to finally cut tie with Y/N ( all detail for this will be in the story) but before Gojo left Y/N in the hospital by herself, he kissed her then begged her to go get help so that one day she'll be better and hopefully down the road they'll meet again.
She was devastated, it took a few nurses to hold her back from chasing after Gojo and it also took everything that Gojo had to not turn around to go back to the woman he loves. In the end Gojo felt relieved but also guilty that he left her behind and he hoped that one day you’ll be able to understand why he had to leave and forgive him for what he had to do to you.
However, Y/N felt betrayed because now she didn’t get the chance to tell him that she was pregnant and that it’s a possibility that the baby might be his.
Six years later Gojo just happened to walk inside the diner you were currently working at. The feelings he had for you had never left him all these years. He still loved you and sadly, the wife he just walked into the diner with knew that too, hence the reason Gojo isn’t too bothered by the fact that his wife had a partner outside their relationship.
As said before the feelings he had for you all those years ago never went away. He was able to hide them, by marrying himself off to a woman and had two beautiful kids with. But pretending to love another didn’t last too long when he saw you in that diner. Unfortunately, you still looked like a drug addict, even though you were clean, but still you looked just as beautiful as he remembered. He called out, smiling and waving his hand towards you, hoping that you’d forgive him for what he had done.
But the moment he saw your lips trembled, and your eyes watered, he knew his hope for your forgiveness was shattered but that didn’t stop him from slowly approaching you, with his eldest son following behind. He felt as though he needed to talk to you, explain to you that he never wanted to leave you, but he had to for both your sakes. He felt like he had to tell you that he loved you and he’d do anything just so that you too could be in love again. He didn’t care if his wife was with him at that moment.
As mentioned before, he didn’t love her, she had a partner outside their marriage so it wouldn’t be an issue to confess to you in public. As he got closer to you, he stopped dead in his tracks when he saw a little boy, maybe just a year older than his son, ran up to you and hugged your legs and yelled, “Mommy.”
“Mommy?” Gojo said out loud as he stared at the boy.
White curly hair messily flopping over his face and bright blue eyes staring up at you as he yelled, “Aunty Larueen said come for burgers.”
“Ah… Tetsuya, I’m coming. Just let mommy clean the tables. You go around and have a burger to eat, remember no lettuce or you’ll get sick again.”
“Ok mommy,” your son said as he happily ran back to the place from whence he came.
You slowly turned to look at Gojo, who was looking at your son, who stood behind the diner’s service counters with a burger in his hand, happily chewing. You saw him gulped before looking at you. You knew what he was going to ask, so you tried to run away from him, but that didn’t work because he caught you quickly. His large warm hand wrapping around your elbow stopped you dead in your tracks. He then pulled you towards him, not caring if his wife and children were watching the scene before them.
Tears streamed down your face as you lifted your head to look at him. He looked well, better than you did.
You both stood staring at each other for a while until your son called out for you again. “Mommy burgers. Come now.”
You tried pulling your hand away from Gojo but the bastard wouldn’t let you go, instead he pulled you closer, his eyes staring you up and down, then over to your son, then back at you.
As yes, here it comes, “Y/n, is he mine?”
Of course he was, as if the infamous white hair and blue eyes wasn’t proof enough, but since he wanted to be smart about it, you replied. “He’s not. Tetsuya is not your son.” With that said you pulled away from him to attend to your kid, leaving Gojo there standing dumb founded.
“Dad?” the eldest - (maybe not his eldest anymore) called out to him.
“Sehan, I think you and your sister might have a brother that I didn’t know about.”
Attending a prestigious university near your hometown, you live alone in your mansion by the vacant, serene seaside. You spend your extra free time playing video games to distract the raging waves of your loneliness.
Your life hadn't been smooth sailing for the majority of your childhood, and now, you could finally thrive, peacefully.
However, when you arrived back home after another morning of classes, the normal comfort of your home was replaced with a cold-tense feeling that flagged every warning sign in your body.
So when a muscular arm held a cold-translucent spear up to your neck when you moved to exit, you slowly turned your head to look at your captor, ignoring the sting from where the water blade was beginning to draw blood.
A shiver ran down your spine when you caught a glimpse of bright ginger locks and ocean-blue eyes.
Now, you had a reason to be scared
✧.*Thank you for reading my Childe x Female reader! Update times aren't confirmed, as I run on a schedule of when I can update. Please keep in mind that I'm currently in high-school and have many classes a day. One could even say I spend more time at school than I do at home. I am very busy and that's not even including what I have to to outside of school. Not to mention if I get sick, or my mental health. (I do have depression.) Also—please don't ask for updates, in a rude way, of course. I don't mind if you only ask once, as I will give you an answer anyway.
✧.*I do not own Childe, or any other Genshin Impact characters included in this story. They belong to Mihoyo. Any of the art used in this story isn't mine unless I specifically state otherwise.
✧.*Trigger warnings will be provided at the beginning of each chapter. Including lime. I'm not so sure if I'll be writing lemon yet, but we'll see.
✧.*The reader in this story is female, or what you would call afab, and uses the pronouns She/Her and They/Them. If this doesn't apply to you, I apologize. As a Demi-girl, I feel more comfortable writing a female protagonist.
Dust arose from the old book you opened, the pages were fragile from many years of wear and tear.
You borrowed it from your family's overly large library, which looked like it belonged in a rustic castle, not a mansion located on a cliff near the sea.
Running your fingers over the decrepit pages, your eyes followed the faded words one by one.
"Το μέλλον," The title read.
Despite only being 10, you were far more intelligent than most children your age.
You knew a few different languages and took multiple advanced classes in school.
Though your family still didn't think you were good enough.
A frown spread across your face at the thought, the rainbow shimmer inside of your (e/c) irises, which your family also thought was odd, grew slightly cloudy.
Shaking your head to dismiss the looming sadness crowding your head, you looked at the title on the dusty book closer.
From what you could tell, the words read, "The Future," but in Greek.
Flipping through the pages, you skimmed over the sentences, seeing nothing interesting, until a certain tragedy plastered onto the top of a page caught your attention.
"The flood?"
Pressing the book harder onto the table, you leaned in closer, analyzing every word inked onto the paper.
Around 9 years ago, a disastrous flood wiped out a majority of the town you lived around 40 minutes away from.
Buildings were damaged, some almost beyond repair, and many families moved to get away from the aftermath. Others, however, weren't so lucky.
Nowadays, a town like yours, next to a large beach with white sands and crystal blue water, would be bursting at the seams with people and greedy contractors trying to sell out the locals.
But the flood prevented that from happening.
And now, only locals remained in the now-rebuilt beach town, which looks almost brand new.
A major part of you was thankful for nature protecting your little slice of paradise from those who didn't belong.
The words on the pages described what happened during the flood in great detail, and the more you read, the more disturbed you became.
This book had to be multiple decades old, so why did it describe the tragedy so perfectly?
Lost in the rapid currents of your thoughts, the familiar sound of stilettos clicking against wooden floors startled you out of your daze.
You jumped and almost fell from the latter you were leaning against.
Jumping down from the latter, and almost twisting your ankle, you opened a random drawer at the bottom of the bookcase and shoved the book in it.
The large door to the library opened with a creak, as the sound of heels against the floor ceased.
"What are you up to?"
You turned around quickly, a guilty smile plastered on your face.
"Nothing Mother— I was just looking for a new book to read..." A worn-out sigh left your mouth, as your hands moved to brush the dust off of the expensive material of your dress.
She raised an eyebrow, a sour look overtaking her face. "Mhm. If only all that reading you've done would help with your studies." Your mother placed her hand on her hip, tapping her sleek-black stiletto against the wooden flooring.
You frown, feeling yourself lose patience. "Is there something you need?"
"It's Ma'am to you. And yes, there is. Your father is hosting a party with his colleagues and I don't need you looking trashy in front of business." She walks up to you as you back up into the bookshelf, cowering as you feel a manicured nail press against your shoulder.
"I've commissioned a designer dress for you, it's hanging in your room. All you have to do is to sit still and look pretty. Don't mess up."
Your frown deepens. "Yes Ma'am..."
She looks you up and down, the sour look remaining. "Good. Don't disappoint our family name."
Flipping her hair, your mother removed her nail from your shoulder, a crescent mark evidence of her anger, and walked away, not bothering to shut the door as her quieting footsteps furthered away.
Sliding down onto the floor, you sighed, your silk dress draping around you and flowering onto the floor.
"What I'd give for peace."
𓇼𓍢ִִ໋🌊🐚˖✩࿐࿔˚˖𓍢ִ✧˚
After some time on the floor to regain your bearings, you dragged yourself up, exiting the library and walking up a flight of stairs to your room.
Despite your parents' coldness toward you, your room was beautiful and made you feel at peace every time you were in it.
Your bed sat at the bottom of your room, and a spiral staircase led to a second floor where your vanity among other things was.
A dull murmur left your mouth, as you opened the door to your large walk-in closet and flipped the light on, your eyes landing on the dress that lay on your closet's island.
Stepping closer, light and almost unsure, you admired the dress, eyes twinkling at the pretty fabric.
Even if you felt bitter towards your parents, you couldn't deny their obvious talent in fashion.
Against the light from your closet, the shimmery silver fabric or the gown sparkled, along with the light tint of (f/c) covering the material. The top of the dress fit a modest sweetheart neckline where the sparkly fabric was crossed over the other, with off-the-shoulder sleeves that draped off the shoulders from the excess material. A dark silver belt wrapped around the waist.
Smiling brightly, you picked up the dress and twirled around, an energetic giggle leaving your mouth.
"Maybe today won't be so bad after all."
Setting down the sparkling gown, you pulled the zipper down on the dress you were currently wearing and pulled it over your head, tossing it onto the floor to focus your attention on your new dress.
You patted down your petticoat and turned toward your attention to the gown lying on your island, carefully undoing the zipper.
With barely concealed excitement, you slipped the gown over your head, putting your arms through the sleeves and fixing the dress over your petticoat.
Your breath halted as you slowly walked over to the large mirror at the end of your closet.
The dress fit you perfectly and shimmered every time the light hit it, resembling a diamond in the sunlight.
A wide grin spread across your face as you clumsily stumbled out of your closet, leaving the door open and the lights on, and dangerously rushing up the spiral staircase in your room.
You approached your vanity and plopped down in the chair in front of it, opening one of the drawers and grabbing a few makeup products out of it.
A lopsided attempt at doing your makeup, you noticed, groaning and rubbing more eyeshadow onto your eyelid in an attempt to fix your mistakes.
Though you were better at most of your age makeup, you still had a lot to learn.
A knock on your door startled you out of what you were doing, and you almost dropped the brush in your hand.
Your eyes widened and you placed the brush back onto your vanity, almost falling out of your chair. "--Coming!"
Shifting came from behind the door as the knock increased in volume. "Ms. (Name)? Are you alright?"
The voice coming from the hallway caused you to sigh in relief.
Untangling your leg from the chair, (a result of not paying attention to your surroundings,) you walked over to your staircase and carefully, this time, walked down to your door.
You grabbed the door handle and opened the door, coming face to face with your maid, Arabella.
"I'm fine Ari–what's with that face?"
She stared at you with wide eyes, before her face twisted in a way that made her look like she was in pain.
Covering her mouth with her palm, she averted her eyes, attempting to not laugh at your predicament.
"Arabella?"
Arabella shook her head and calmed herself down, sighing and stepping toward you, placing a hand on your shoulder in sympathy. "Ms. (Name)...while I don't doubt your talents for a moment, I do believe you need some help with your makeup."
Now it was your turn to stand there fish-eyed.
Bashfully, the floorboards seemed most interesting as you looked at the floor, nodding in embarrassment.
She smiled at you and grabbed your hand, leading you up the stairs and guiding you to sit in front of your vanity.
"I'm guessing you favor a certain color, hm?"
Recovering from your embarrassment, you nodded, grabbing one of your many eyeshadow pallets and opening it to point at your favorite color.
"What a wonderful choice. This color suits your complexion."
Arabella grabbed a makeup wipe and held your chin as she wiped your makeup off in a gentle manner.
"Now–let's start fresh."
Grabbing a brush, Arabella began to lightly apply makeup to your face.
You hummed in pleasure at the soft motion, feeling yourself becoming sleepy. Who knew getting your makeup done could be so relaxing?
With a swift hand movement, Arabella applied a small amount of eyeliner over the shimmery eyeshadow you were wearing and then spun your chair around to face the mirror of your vanity.
"You can open your eyes now Ms. (Name)."
Peeking your eyes open, you grinned widely, beaming at the beautiful art on your face.
Arabella noticed your silence and began to worry. "Do you like it? I can redo it if you don't–"
"I love it!"
You rushed and engulfed her in an energetic hug.
She stumbled in shock before laughing and hugging your back, patting your head. "Now Ms. (Name). Let's not mess up your makeup just yet."
A huff left your mouth as you snickered, "Alright," you paused and let go of Arabella before smirking, "By the way, you can just call (Name)."
Arabella gaped before shaking her head. "Ma'am–"
"I see you as a friend. There's no need for formalities."
She gave you a warm smile. "Alright then, (Name)."
You giggled and she flicked you on the nose, rolling her eyes playfully. "It's almost time for you to greet your family's guests."
The calm expression on your face dampened and you frowned.
Arabella noticed your discomfort and gave you a reassuring smile. "You'll do great, I know you will," Reaching into the pocket of her apron, she pulled out a necklace and placed it against your neck," If it helps, I found this on the floor of the library when I was looking for you. When I saw it I immediately thought of you."
You looked down at the necklace and gasped when you saw a beautiful white-gold ring, set with large ruby crystals in the center and adorned with a few navy crystals along the rim. Flipping the ring over, you looked at the band, which had a narwhal carved into the thick part of the back and the letter A carved into the thin part of the band.
It sat perfectly on your collarbone, and the weight of the metal felt like it was meant to be there. Not to mention how the ring felt warm against your upper chest, and when you tried to remove it, frigidness would wash over you.
You smiled genuinely at your friend. "Thank you, Ari. For everything."
She pinched your cheek and lightly shoved you towards the door.
"Don't mention it." Arabella brushes off your dress and tucks a wild strand of your hair behind your ear. "Break a leg."
The nervous smile on your face shifted into one of confusion. "What?"
"It's an expression. You'll do great anyway, I know it."
Before you could press her even further, she pushed you out of your room and shut the door behind you.
A shaky sigh left your mouth and you made your way down the hallway, walking down two flights of stairs and reaching the entrance to the living room.
You spotted your mother's authoritarian figure standing in front of the doorway, arm linked with your fathers, who was laughing proudly, raising a glass of whiskey to toast.
Slinking quietly toward the entrance, you tried to slip inside to a corner where you wouldn't be noticed, but when your heels made a noise on the floor, your mother's sharp icy blue eyes turned towards you.
She gave you a look and you begrudgingly walked up to stand beside her.
A fierce whisper left her mouth. "You're late."
You gulped, cold sweat began to form as you could feel her free hand wrap around your wrist, her sharp nails threatening to break the skin.
"But you didn't say when to—"
"That's enough. I don't want to hear your excuses. The only thing you can do to atone for your mistakes is sit still and look pretty. Got it?"
"Yes, mother.." You nod, tears threatening to ruin your makeup.
"Good."
She released your wrist, but the mark remained, already red and irritated.
Your father had finally finished his speech and looked toward where you were standing. He seemed surprised to see you there but frowned when he saw your watery eyes.
He unlinked his arm with your mother and placed a hand on your shoulder, patting it softly.
You smiled through your tear-blurry eyes.
Everything would be okay.
𓇼𓍢ִִ໋🌊🐚˖✩࿐࿔˚˖𓍢ִ✧˚
The party had ended after a few more hours after the tipsy stragglers left.
With a renewed pep in your step, you gratefully left the living room, rushing up the stairs to the second floor to run back into the library.
Pushing the door open faster than you usually did, (and with the weight of the door, you'd be sore tomorrow,) you rushed toward the drawer you remember stashing the mysterious book in.
Flinging open the drawer, you found the book just where you had left it,
A relieved sigh left your mouth. "Thank goodness."
You pick up the book and stuff it under your petticoat, making sure it won't fall out.
Shutting the drawer, you ran out of the open library, not bothering to look and see if someone was inside the hallway to witness your odd behavior.
Another flight of stairs later and a few confused maids, you had made it back to your room and locked the door.
You sat the book on your nightstand, deciding you'd read more of it after you got some rest.
Quickly taking of your dress along with your other items, you took your makeup off and lunged into your bed, snuggling into the silk covers as you drifted off to sleep.
But, what you didn't realize is that the book had fallen off your nightstand, hitting the floor and opening up to reveal a read and gold mask.
Verity Rosewood
—The one who absquatulated
Tumblr media
"I never wanted to leave, but I had to. For me."
Being the heir of the Rosewood family, Verity has been training and learning how to manage her family's company even at such a young age. She went to different kinds of classes, may it be public speaking classes, business management, dance classes, and many more. She had to be different, to be perfect. The pressure of being the best and perfect heir was exhausting, but she had her friends, right? The Hawthorne brothers have helped her cope with all the pressure and stress her family and everyone else pressed on her. She thought she could handle it, but everyone had their breaking points.
Grayson Hawthorne
—The Heir Apparent
Tumblr media
"And that made me hate you even more."
Grayson had been considered as the "Heir apparent" of the family for as long as he remembered. As a Hawthorne, he was taught many things, and that included never showing emotion. He had to learn how to not cry or show signs of weakness. Being one of the oldest siblings didn't help with that at all. In fact, it just added even more pressure on him. Having to be the older and more responsible brother out of the rest. It was difficult. Trying to make yourself look as if you're not broken. He is broken and hurt, yet he makes sure not to show anyone even a second of his true emotions. He was not raised to be like that.
Verity + Grayson
—The never ending story
Tumblr media
"In this toxic and suffocating world, we had each other."
The friendship of the Rosewood and the Hawthorne family has lasted for years now. So Verity being friends with the Hawthorne grandchildren was no such mystery. The group was always seen together during classes, tea time, playing outside on the grounds, or even skipping classes together. They were inseparable, but there were 2 children in the friend group that were much closer with each other than the rest; Verity and Grayson. The two consider each other as their safe places, the person who brings comfort to each other. Due to the pressure of their families, both of them really understood each other and considered one another as the place that they could bring down their walls and become their true selves. They felt safe, comforted, and peaceful in the presence of each other. Because for once, they felt as if they had one place they didn't have to pretend as if they're perfect.
Could you possibly talk about Melanie King please she’s so interesting and you’re really good at analysis
of course i can talk about melanie king. i can talk about melanie king all day long
in the past year or so, i've seen a lot of people talk about "female rage" in media. which is neat and all, i love seeing women smash some shit, but the thing is that... i've never been able to resonate my own anger with that of any character i've seen
except melanie
when women are allowed to be angry, they are divided into two camps regarding how the narrative treats them: "psycho bitch" and "girlboss". a hysterical, overreactive, and cruel woman, or a woman scorned out to bring herself justice, maybe with an aesthetic breakdown or two, but ultimately cold-hearted, single-minded, and justified. if their anger is seen as valid, it still needs to adhere to the very specific mold of "smashing the patriarchy" and, regardless of how bloody her rampage is, it's clean and neat with all threads tied up and never straying from the path, never hurting herself any more than she's already hurting, and never hurting anyone except the people who hurt her. it's... emotionless
melanie is not that. i think that when looking at her, you need to keep in mind both that her anger is valid and justified, and that it's hurting both her and the people around her. it's one of the most acurate portrayals i've seen of extreme anger, because for once, there is more than a single-minded want for vengance, more than a smirk when the people who hurt you burn. anger is so often born of pain, and when that pain is, like in melanie's case, born of a system you can't do anything about, you can never really seperate the two emotions. anger doesn't replace pain, and it doesn't make it go away, but if you don't have it then all you have is hurt, which is the state we see her in after the bullet has been removed
and i think it's more than the bullet. i think it's more than the institute. she herself says that she's had to fight her entire life, and yes, she references ghost hunt uk specifically in that sentence, but i don't think you can seperate that from that fact that she grew up female, queer, and lower class, with a mother who must have died when she was quite young and a father who developed dementia early. that's hard, and more than anything, there is nothing you can do about it. and when society has deemed you lesser for something you can do nothing about for no valid reason, you become hurt and you become angry
and then, she learns to live with it. she manages to find something to love, to fight for, and in turn fight for a place in a world that doesn't value her. and then the slaughter and the institute comes along and crushes it all
let me say one thing: melanie could not have been written as a man. she could not have been written as straight or upper class. melanie's anger would never have been as impactful if it came from a man who's never had to experience the struggle and pain of a world that is, very objectively and systemically, against you
"Oh my GOD, SHE IS SO CUTE."
The sound of Livio's barely stifled cries of happiness filled the small room with vibrant, happy noise, and Wolfwood thought he'd never been happier in his entire life. No, in any possible life imaginable. There existed not a single version of himself that could top this level of happiness.
Because, he'd never expected to see this. He thought he'd meet his end, die alone in the middle of the desert before experiencing this small piece of life and love he'd stolen for himself, but there it was, standing in front of him.
It all started last night within a small, private, comfortable room toward the backend of the orphanage, in a flurry of Miss Melanie shoving Wolfwood out of the way and her own maternal instincts taking over as things became hectic and bloody in a way Wolfwood decidedly was not used to.
No guns. No death. No murder.
Instead, last night, the love of his life had given birth to his child. A baby girl. A daughter. With dark hair and blue eyes, and tiny, pudgy little hands and the sweetest, most beautiful cry in the entire universe.
Just when he thought he had seen everything he ever needed to see, the visitors began pouring in, one after the other. Milly and Meryl were first, then Livio came sauntering in shortly after, and he had the opportunity to see all his friends, and his brother, meet his baby girl.
And Wolfwood got to watch every single second of it, as he stood quietly in the corner by the door. With his heart full and soaring, full of praises and love, he watched Meryl fuss around Vash, giving him water and food and adjusting his pillows, pushing his hair away from his forehead and giving him more attention than she'd given the baby.
Milly had taken to baby duty immediately, before Livio walked in. Teaching Wolfwood how to change a diaper, how to bottle feed, how to swaddle - until Livio's eyes filled with tears and he begged to hold the baby girl. Milly relented, though with a pinch of hesitance because Wolfwood thought Milly may have held the baby forever if they allowed her.
"Isn't she?" Vash was already sitting up in bed, wearing an oversized shirt with a blanket tossed over his lap and looked absolutely stunning, as though he hadn't just given birth. Meryl sat perched on the bed at his side, arm draped over his shoulders, and Milly sat the end of the bed, hands folded in her lap.
Livio had moved to stand beside the bed, too, holding the baby girl wrapped tight in a hand knitted pink blanket, a gift from Melanie.
"Wait until you hear her name," Vash continued, and a small began spreading across his beautiful face.
"Hmm?" Livio glanced up, at Vash, then towards Wolfwood's position several steps away. "What's her name?"
Vash met Wolfwood's gaze. "Would you like to tell him, Nick?"
Wolfwood pushed away from the wall, pride and excitement filling his chest. He'd been waiting for this all night and all morning. Hell, he'd probably been waiting for this his entire life, and just hadn't realized it yet.
"Her name is Livi," Wolfwood said. "We named her after you."
The reaction felt immediate, as Livio's entire face collapsed in on itself and his mouth slowly fell open. "What? No, are you serious?" he whispered. His frantic eyes darted between himself and Vash, then to the girls, who just smiled bright like they had no idea what was going on.
Then, tears began streaming along his cheeks, and one shaking hand, the one not holding Livi, curled around the back of Vash's head. He dropped a kiss to the top of his hair.
Vash beamed up at him, tears of his own filling along the lines of his thick lashes, and he leaned into the kiss like they were lifelong best friends.
"I love her so much already," Livio sobbed. "And I love you so much, too."
When the two of them finished their moment, though, Livio handed the baby off to Vash, and pointed a sharp finger across the room at Wolfwood. "And you! I fucking love you!"
Livio launched himself at Wolfwood with his arms wide open and ready to grab him in a tight, big hug. Wolfwood ran from it, at first - though, it was all for show, as he relented fast, and let himself be gathered into Livio's big arms.
A hug that made him think back to two small boys, lonely and sad, and afraid they'd never live to see a brighter day.
But, they had.
In that small, little room, in the back of his orphanage, Wolfwood watched a gaggle of misfits and unlikely loved ones heal at the hands of a six pound baby girl, with bright blue eyes and a beauty mark on one cheek.
Tell me your Nina headcanons silly person
Or tell my HC on anyone you want to!^^
You. YOU. I like you. /p
Nina the Killer Headcanons
TW: Abuse, Manipulation, Death, Toxic Relationships, Meltdowns/Breakdowns, Murder, Implied Ableism
Nina is polyamorous, biromantic asexual, transfem nonbinary, and goes by they/she/it/neon.
She is currently in a polyamorous relationship with Jane and Mary and loves both of them with all her heart.
She had severe mommy issues, but had a great relationship with her brother and dad. Her dad died while in the military in a plane accident when she was 12.
She was in a friend group with Jeff, Jane, Jesse, Mary, Liu, Clockwork, Lyra, and Toby pre-incident. Now she's still close friends with Jane, Jesse, Mary, and Liu, and now that she's reunited with Toby, they are attached at the hip. Jeff and her are currently at odds with each other, and she hasn’t reunited with Clockwork or Lyra yet.
Jeff was able to manipulate her so easily because at the time, she was already at her limit with her mother, as well as accidentally isolating herself due to so many of her friends going missing/dying (namely Clockwork, Toby, and Lyra). Nina is still upset at Jeff, but wrongly blames herself for getting manipulated.
She was a band kid, and was in the wind ensemble. She also did color guard for a few years.
She is an absolute scene kid.
Her, Toby, and BEN are very close friends and hang out a lot, and see each other practically as siblings. She hates to admit it, but BEN severely reminds her of Chris. BEN knows and tries to ignore it. Still hurts though, especially since BEN is scared the only reason Nina hangs out with him is because she misses her brother.
Nina grew up in a Mexican household and fluently spoke both Spanish and English. She ended up teaching Jane and Jeff some Spanish as well, and is currently trying to teach Toby.
Their mother was named Michelle, and her dad was named Tomas.
She and Clockwork dated in highschool. They had a very healthy relationship but they broke up from Natalie being too scared of commitment and the idea of their relationship being long term. They broke up on good terms, though Nina still had some feelings on her end after the break up.
They are stubborn as hell, and hate accepting help from others, even if it's for something small. This is due to growing up being told to figure out everything on her own and being unconsciously taught to never ask or accept help because she was considered "useless" if she couldn't figure out how to take care of herself.
She listens to a lot of different artists, but one of her favorites is Melanie Martinez. Her favorite song is EVIL. Nina also listens to Penelope Scott, Insane Clown Posse, and 6arelyhuman religiously.
They have generalized anxiety despite being an extrovert, as well as consistent panic attacks caused by stress. She is also prone to sensory meltdowns that Mary often needs to calm her down from.
She was a true crime listener growing up, and would often hyperfixate on it a lot. Nowadays though, she can’t get herself to listen to it anymore due to her sometimes running into her name on there and immediately having to shut it off.
Clockwork and her never reunited, so as far as Nina knows she’s dead.
Her comfort food is either a blue raspberry gas station slushie or sour gummy worms.
Her dad and her shared a birthday, and when she was young, he would often take them out to a cheap gas station and buy them a bunch of snacks and candy, and they would drive around town together until midnight.
She trolls people on the internet sometimes, and loves messing with random people and sometimes will get BEN to hack social media accounts of people she hates.
They have AuDHD. Michelle, her mother, couldn't afford to keep her in therapy for any longer a couple months after her dad’s death, so she never got properly diagnosed. This lead to many teachers in Nina's life not having a lot of faith in her and not trusting her when it came to her symptoms.
Ngl, these are just the tip of the iceberg of my Nina hcs, but I only had so much space bc Tumblr wouldn't let me post the full list for some reason-
Hey!! Would you be able to make a Liv Morgan x Fem!Reader where like the reader is a single mom and is also a wrestler. She is struggling backstage and Liv is there to help her??
Ofc!
Don't doubt yourself
Pairing: Liv Morgan x Fem reader
Description: You are a wrestler trying to raise your daughter on your own but soon Liv is by your side
Tumblr media
You smile at your 9 year old daughter Melanie as you and her get in the car, a bit stressed that she couldn't stay with her babysitter or your mom as you make your way to the stadium for SummerSlam and your match against Raquel Rodriguez. You got a call the day before from your babysitter, telling you that she was sick and couldn't watch your daughter while you were at Summerslam which stressed you out since your mom and sister were out of town and you didn't have anyone else to keep here, hesitantly deciding to bring her with you which she was nervous and excited about since she had started watching your matches and other matches in WWE always smiling when she sees you come home, asking who you saw and if you could tell them she said hi which made you laugh and smile at her curiosity and excitement, you laugh watching her wiggle in the backseat. You hold each other's hands, walking backstage with her behind you as you say hi to the other female wrestlers not noticing your daughter until you hear "Who's this?" you turn to see Rhea Ripley leaning down, looking at melanie who waved while smiling and eyes wide in awe, until rhea holds her arms out and hugs her, carrying her around to introduce her to everyone while you get ready, you laugh when you see her run and hug Liv who smiles and gasps "Is that my favorite person ever?!" you thank rhea who just hugs you while you take a picture of liv and melanie, you hear an official tell you that you're up for your match, feeling nervous but relieved when liv and rhea tell you not to worry that they would have her with them watching you. You feel the adrenaline wear off as you get out of raquel's grip, being clothes lined by her, feeling the breath leave your lungs and body as she walks around you, you turn your head as you catch your breath to see liv and rhea ringside but you immediately hear the voice inside you to get back up when you see liv holding melanie as she yells "I love you mama! Never give up" you smile and jump back up, grabbing raquel from behind and wrapping your legs around her waist, throwing her down and climbing on top of her to a submission move, bursting into tears after being announced and holding the title, you feel hands on your face looking up to see melanie, grabbing her and lifting her up on your shoulders after handing her the title as the crowd cheers. You both walk backstage while you still cry, smiling when you watch melanie run off and into Damian Priest's arms who laughs and tickles her as rhea helps while liv pulls you in her arms. "I am so damn proud of you" you hug her back feeling all the self doubt suddenly build up not about being a wrestler but a mom "Am I enough? Am I raising her good? Will she-" she stops you immediately by holding your face having you look at her in the eyes "You are a damn wonderful mom, you may not be rich or married but you pour all your soul and love into everything you do for her never doubt yourself" you cry again as she holds you feel arms wrap around you, giggling when you feel a big hand on your head, looking at damian who hugs you as does rhea after "Don't cry mama" you laugh as you hug melanie "I'm proud of you" you smile at the words tickling and kissing all over her face as she laughs while your three friends smile and feel their heart warm at the sight.
One day I woke up as the daughter of a villainess
[This is a fanfiction collaboration with @ship-ovnik]
[This fanfiction-announcement contains brief descriptions of heavy scenes for fans of Penelope and Judith. I warned you.]
"Is young miss awake?" a quiet voice above her asked.
Judith woke up instantly, sitting up abruptly. She looked dumbfounded at her nanny, whom she hadn't seen for almost ten years.
How did she end up here? Shouldn't she have been in jail awaiting her sentence?
"Melanie?" barely uttering the woman's name, she heard her own thin voice. Raising her hands to her face, Judith saw tiny palms like a five-year-old child.
"Yes, my lady?" the maid asked tensely, "Are you unwell?"
Judith jumped out of bed in horror and ran to the floor mirror. In front of her was not at all an adult girl with sharp facial lines and a beautiful figure, but a small child with plump cheeks.
Had she really gone back fourteen years?
The girl grabbed herself cheek and pinched. The pain was real, so she wasn't dreaming.
"I can't believe it… Just a few hours ago, I was waiting for the court's decision on my execution.. And now I'm here again!" - turning around on short legs, the baby ran to the exit, as she was stopped by the nanny.
"My lady, please! Take your time! Where are you in such a hurry?"
"I want to see Mom! Right now!"
"Do you want to see Lady Penelope?…" the woman turned pale. "Oh, maybe you want to take a walk in that garden? I think there are wonderful flowers there…
"Melanie, I want my mom! I want my mom! And not to the garden!"
"But my lady, you know that your mother has not wanted to see anyone for many years, why did you suddenly start talking about her?"
"W-what?.." Judith couldn't believe her own ears. Her mom is the most affectionate and loving person she has ever met. She never parted with her. Mom always took care for her, supporting her in everything, even when her heart was heavy.
Her mom would never leave her. But then why is it a completely different person now?
The events take place in the real world (without Siyeon). The original Penelope falls in love with Callisto and confessing her feelings to him, it turns out that it is mutual. The couple secretly meets and tries to spend as much time together as possible until the duke finds out about their affair. At first, the man is furious and categorically against their relationship, trying to prevent their meetings. He was even ready to put Penelope under house arrest, but after seeing how happy his daughter is with the Crown Prince and how she suffers and refuses to eat and drink if he forbids her to see him, the duke gives up and blesses their relationship.
At first everything was great, the Eckart family, like the royal family, was preparing for an engagement after Penelope's debut. But on the day of the celebration, the Marquis of Verdandy brings Yvonne home and a terrible poisoning scandal happens. Penelope did not lose hope of proving her innocence and believed that Callisto would support and help her, but to her horror, the groom accused her of poisoning Yvonne and sent her into custody until the circumstances were clarified. For Penelope, as well as the whole family, it was a shock how the man changed in behavior.
A few days after the arrest, when the girl was finally released without finding any evidence, Penelope came face to face with Callisto, whom she did not recognize at all. Even without any evidence, he accused her of all her sins and considered her a terrible woman.
She was well aware that the abrupt change in behavior was due to Yvonne. But the way he behaved and the terrible things he said when he broke off the engagement broke her heart.
The Duke, realizing the horror of what is happening, takes Penelope away, not knowing what to say. After all, he knew that this would happen, but he did not want to remember it, seeing the condition of his daughter. Soon, he finds out that Penelope is pregnant. Fearing that something might happen to her, he sends her to a distant residence of their possessions.
That's where Judith is born. Penelope doted on her and tried to protect and protect her from everything, giving all her love. But the older the daughter got, the more questions she had. The woman did not want to answer them, and avoided or did not say enough so as not to break her baby's heart.
But alas, when Judith celebrated her debut and started attending balls and other events, she began to learn about the world and who her father was. A terrible scandal broke out between her and her daughter, after which, Judith, not wanting to listen to her mother's lies anymore, leaves the residence and leaves for the capital. Due to all the worries and poor health, Penelope remains bedridden, unable to stop her daughter.
A few months later, she receives news that Judith is in custody and awaiting trial. The Duke tried his best to help and save his granddaughter, but everything was to no avail, because the charges were brought by the imperial family itself.
Without a doubt, it was the work of Yvonne. Or whoever was hiding behind that pretty face. She had no doubt guessed who Judith was and had probably arranged everything to make her unbearably hurt.
She couldn't protect her daughter. What a terrible mother she was if she let her child go into the mouth of the beast?..
Having lost herself in grief, Penelope dies. There is a rollback of time.
Expecting to wake up again to the 18-year-old lady of the Eckart family, Penelope, barely opening her eyes, realizes that she is not in the family estate, but in the country residence where Judith was born. The first thing she hears is her daughter's loud crying.
"If I love and cherish her to the point of unconsciousness again, she will try to protect me again and die at the hands of this monster…" - looking at the cradle from which the nurse gently lifted her daughter, Penelope understands that she needs to make a difficult choice to save Judith. "But if I am… I will not let her get attached and I will be a bad mother, she will never know about that pain and will not want to protect me, she will be safe if she lives in ignorance…"
The woman intuitively pressed the girl to herself, after which she called another maid and took the child away. After waiting for the footsteps to subside, Penelope burst into tears, realizing how unbearably painful it would be for her to watch her daughter from afar and not be able to hug her.
"Mistress, it's time to feed the young lady-"
"Take her away"
"W-what? But My Lady-"
"Are you deaf? I said take her away, I won't feed her."
Let Judith grow up away from her, not knowing all the pain. Let her be a happy child with a happy childhood, she will do everything so that she does not need anything. Let her think that her mother is an evil woman who does not deserve love.
"I so want to forget all this…" pressing her palms to her face, Penelope used ancient magic and erased all memories of Callisto and her family, feeling all the pain dissolve in her heart in an instant. Peace reigns in the soul. She no longer feels anything but absolute emptiness and cold inside herself.
All she needs to remember is Judith and her well-being.
Jei: This fanfiction is a mixture of two fanfics (more precisely, my impressions from reading two fanfics about the brainwashing of Callisto and the tragic fate of Judith by kuroneko1815) and a huge reference to another manhwa.
