Summary:
Taking a nervous breath, Tup approached the hangar bay, gearbag slung over his shoulder, all packed for his new mission. Recently, Captain Rex recommended him as a potential ARC candidate, which had him nearly vibrating in excitement. However, he didnât have as much experience as some of the other applicants, so heâs been assigned a mission, a trial run of sorts, to see how heâd do fighting alongside someone outside the 501st. All this to explain Tupâs anxious anticipation as he approached the Omicron-class shuttle currently parked in the Resoluteâs main hangar.
TLDR: Tup has a joint mission with The Bad Batch, and nothing goes as planned.
__________________________ âOkay⌠here we go.â Taking a nervous breath, Tup approached the hangar bay, gearbag slung over his shoulder, all packed for his new mission. Recently, Captain Rex had recommended him as a potential ARC candidate, which had him nearly vibrating in excitement, but because he didnât have as much experience as Jesse and Fives, heâd been assigned a mission, a trial run of sorts, to see how heâd do fighting alongside someone outside the 501st.Â
All this to explain Tupâs anxious anticipation as he approached the Omicron-class shuttle currently parked in the Resoluteâs main hangar. Training on Kamino, heâd heard stories about Clone Force 99, breaking nearly every training record (along with a few dozen regulations), but heâd never actually met them. So when he saw a trooper in non-standard gear staring him down, he squared his shoulders and tried to look more confident than he felt. Their helmet was pretty unusual, with an asymmetrical visor and a target sight over the right eye.
He gave them a sharp salute, unsure what to expect. âReporting for duty, sir. My name is Tup.â
The trooper scoffed before calling into the ship, voice dripping in disdain. âHunter, the regâs here.â
âReg?!â Tup blurted out before he could stop himself.Â
âCrosshair, donât antagonize the kid.â A voice called from inside before another trooper stepped onto the ramp.
The first trooper, Crosshair, apparently, removed his helmet with a scoff, rolling his eyes. Tup blinked, surprised at his unusual appearance; Crosshair didnât look like any clone heâd ever seen. But he pushed down his initial reaction to look back at the other trooper, gear much closer to standard, with a few added weapon sheaths, Tup noted appreciatively.
Tup crossed his arms, huffing. âI donât know what you mean by âreg,â but Iâm not a kid either. And my name is Tup.â He repeated, frowning under his helmet.
The new trooper lowered his hands in a âstand-downâ motion. âAlright, Tup. No offense intended. The nameâs Hunter. Come on inside and we can get started.â Hunter waved him inside, and Tup moved to follow him. Crosshair refused to move out of the way, shoulder-checking him slightly as he walked past, but Tup refused to rise to the bait. Rex sent him here to prove he could work well with others, so thatâs what heâd do. Heâd handled worse than Crosshair before.
Once inside, Hunter removed his helmet and Tup followed suit. He made a small noise as he saw the other trooperâs hair; long-haired troopers were few and far between. Tup himself was one of just a few in the 501st, and the only one who actually took care of it like he should. Hunter kept his back with a bandana, but other than a small case of helmet-hair, it actually looked pretty well-cared for.Â
As his eyes adjusted, Tup noticed two other squad members in the combined briefing room/mess area. One was wearing goggles and fidgeting with a datapad of some kind, and the other, bigger than any clone Tup had ever seen, was inexplicably doing bicep curls with a gonk droid, of all things.Â
Upon seeing Tup, the big one gave him a grin that reminded him of Hardcase after a particularly successful barrage of blasterfire. âHey reg, catch!â All of a sudden, he hefted the gonk droid like he was going to toss it to Tup, eliciting a full-bodied flinch, but Hunter stepped in at the last moment with a look of warning. Crosshair snickered, and Tup sent him a glare.
âAwh, man! âWas just a joke!â But thankfully, Wrecker relented, putting down the gonk droid and standing up to give Tup a friendly pat on the back, which wouldâve sent him sprawling if he wasnât prepared. âThe nameâs Wrecker! Guess youâll be working with us on this one!âÂ
Tup returned the greeting with a wary smile. Wrecker, at least, didnât look like he was intentionally antagonizing him; probably just a little unaware of his own strength. âTup. Good to meet you.â
Wrecker took a moment to survey the other trooper, grinning when he noticed his hair. âHunter! Heâs got long hair like you! Reminds me of when you used to put your hair in a nerf tail!â He went in to ruffle Tupâs hair, which Tup quickly noticed and sidestepped, just barely stopping himself from lashing out on instinct.Â
âOh, sorry!â Wrecker tensed slightly, realizing heâd overstepped.
The trooper whoâd been sitting quietly until then spoke up, adjusting their goggles as they began. âYou displayed an atypical response to Wreckerâs actions. Am I correct in guessing that youâre more protective of your hair than most standard troopers?â
âYeah, maybe. Iâve had one too many bad experiences with the trainers on Kamino, if you know what I mean, so Iâd appreciate it if you asked first.â Tup rubbed the back of his neck as he willed his heart to slow back down, surprised at the otherâs perceptiveness.Â
Crosshair, whoâd given Tup a hard time earlier, elbowed Wrecker in the ribs, eliciting an apologetic look from Wrecker as the rest of the group sat down around the holotable. Maybe theyâd just gotten off on the wrong foot earlier, Tup considered.Â
Hunterâs gaze fell on Tup for a moment longer before starting the briefing, noticing his heart-rate going back down and deciding not to intervene. âAlright, hereâs the mission parameters. Medical supplies have been going missing at the supply depot on Lothal. First weâll be doing surveillance, learning whoâs responsible and then taking them out.â He turned on the holotable as he continued, bringing up a projection of the supply depot.
âA stakeout? I hate stakeouts!â Wrecker grumbled.
Hunter ignored him, turning instead to Tup. âThis is the layout of the depot. What do you think, kid?â He gestured to the table, curious what Tup would suggest.
Biting his lip again at being called a kid again, Tup took a closer look at the map, zooming in on a couple taller buildings. âHmm⌠ideally weâd have two teams; one to watch the entrance and another to monitor the supplies in question. This building is a pretty ideal vantage point for most of the city. Youâre the sniper, right?â He asked Crosshair, who grunted in assent. âThis would be a good location for you, and the other group could be here.â He gestures to another building right across the street from the depot with a clear view of whatâs inside. âYou know your own men best, but Wrecker seems like a hands-on type, so keeping him closer to the fight would be best, and maybe your technology specialist would be able to tap into their security feed from there; sorry, I donât know your name.â He nodded at Tech.
âTech,â Tech offered. âAnd you seem to have deduced our typical division of labor. Usually, Hunter will spend time with each group as-needed.â
Tup grinned, happy to hear that he was on the right track. âAffirmative. Iâm generally more of a forward-fighter than a marksman, but I can go wherever you want me.â He addressed Hunter.
Hunter gave a small nod of approval. âSounds like a solid plan. Crosshair, youâll be watching entrances and exits while the rest of us stay closer to the supplies in-question. When you need a break, either Tup or I can relieve you.âÂ
They continued to plan logistics for a bit, but soon it was time to head out, so Tech went to the cockpit while the rest of the squad got the ship ready for takeoff.
âYou might wanna hold onto something.â Hunter called in warning, but nothing couldâve prepared him for Techâs rapid takeoff. If it wasnât for Wreckerâs steadying hand, Tup would have fallen flat on his shebs.Â
âThanks for the save, vod.â He grinned sheepishly at the larger trooper. Wrecker sent him a beaming grin in response, scooting closer to Crosshair with a stage-whisper. âHe called me vod!â To which Crosshair rolled his eyes before getting up to find somewhere with a little more personal space.Â
The flight itself took a few hours, during which time, Tup busied himself by cleaning his kit, eating a ration-bar, and sneakily admiring Hunterâs assortment of vibroknives as he cleaned his own kit nearby. From what Tup could tell, these troopers basically lived on this ship, so he tried to respect their privacy. It wasnât long before they were touching down on Lothal, and this time, Tup was safely strapped into his seat for landing. Exiting the ship, Tup takes a deep breath in preparation. His first real mission outside the 501st; hopefully itâll be off to a good start.
_____________________________________
Itâs been about five hours since they got settled for their stakeout. Wreckerâs taking a nap (something about his overactive metabolism), and Techâs been spending his time monitoring the security feed while Tup and Hunter take a turn on lookout.
From his perch in the window, Tup sent another glare towards the flickering lights outside the small apartment. Theyâd been making a faint buzzing noise for the past hour, and Tup was about five seconds away from chucking one of Hunterâs vibroknives at them. Looking around the apartment didnât immediately reveal any switches to turn it off, but after a little investigation, he found a metal panel in the wall with rows of breakers. It didnât take long to identify the correct one, and he let out a sigh of relief as the buzzing finally stopped.Â
Glancing around the room, he grinned at Hunter, who had a twin look of relief on his face followed by brief confusion. âWait, you could hear that too?â
Tup nodded with a groan of annoyance. âYeah, Iâve got pretty sensitive hearing, but nothing like yours, Iâm sure. Back on Kamino, the warning drill lights used to make the absolute worst noise, and I was the only one in my squad who could hear it! My batcher, Dogma, took my word for it, but the rest thought I was crazy.â
âUgh, those were the worst! When we got our own bunkroom, Tech was able to adjust the frequency, but the rest of the facility was a nightmare.â Hunter complained, happy to commiserate with someone else who understood, even just a little bit.
Tup sat back down, a little closer to Hunter, giving him a sheepish grin. âIâve, uh, been meaning to ask you⌠I donât see too many vode with long hair. Mineâs always a disaster if I leave it down instead of putting it in a bun, and most civvie hair product just makes it stiff and itchy. How do you deal with it?â
Huffing in amusement, Hunter responded. âHeh, well⌠for me, my hairstyleâs the lesser of three evils. Regulation haircuts need to be maintained nearly every week; I used to scratch myself raw when I was an adiik, trying to get rid of all the little hairs after it was cut, so I started growing it out, which helped a lot. Iâve tried the whole bun-thing, and a couple other hairstyles, but theyâd give me pretty bad headaches. The bandana is the only thing Iâve found that really works for me.â He ran a hand through his hair, returning Tupâs grin.Â
âHuh, makes sense. My batchmate, Dogma, used to get annoyed when I complained about headaches from pulling my hair up too tight. Said if it bugged me so much, I should just cut it off.â Tup shook his head with a grin. âSo do commandoâs get better soap rations than the rest of us?â
Hunter shook his head with a smirk. âNot exactly, but we do have a little bit more freedom with our mission stipends. Sometime in our first couple missions, we had to make an emergency landing on Nal Hutta, which if you donât know, is one of the worst-smelling swamps in the galaxy, and none of the regulation stuff helped at all. Tech found a holonet article recommending this, uh, adiik shampoo, and it worked. Plus itâs supposed to be hypoallergenic, unscented, all that, so weâve just kept it in stock since then.â
Nodding seriously, Tup made a mental note to look at the specific brand when they went back to the ship. âIâll have to look into it. Thanks, vod!â
Hunter quirked his head in assent, lips curling into a small smile. Itâs been a while since anyone outside the Bad Batch referred to any of them as a brother, but Tup didnât seem to hesitate. Commander Cody had hinted at integrating them more with the other troopers for future campaigns, and if they were anything like Tup, it might actually be bearable.
_________
Meanwhile, in a nearby alleyway, a shadow lurks in the dark, cloaked by experiemental tech and a local perfume shop. Taking out a pair of scopes, it closely monitors dual silhouettes in a nearby window, partially obscured by a curtain. They can just barely see the barrel of a rifle poking out of the local chrono-tower, good as invisible to the naked eye. An hour passes, and one form disappears, closely followed by a door opening and someone exiting the building, extensive gear poorly hidden by a poncho. Bandana and distinctive tattoos turn away and start walking towards the chrono tower. He disappears from sight, and the shadow is quick to follow.

Iâve been wondering on how the bad batch would meet Moonlight cookie and Stardust Cookie and their options on them?
(I would also like to know moonlight and stardust cookie options on the bad batch as well)
In canon, Gingerbrave, Strawberry Cookie, and Wizard Cookie go to the City of Wizards to recruit Moonlight Cookie against the forces of Dark Enchantress Cookie.
In the Bad Batch AU, I imagine a different set of cookies are sent by PV to speak with Moonlight Cookie. (Most likely Black Raisin and Strawberry Crepe.) Meanwhile, the kids go there to try to plunder the magical secrets the city holds. The location of the City had been revealed to Wizard Cookie in a dream and he is VERY excited to see the legendary city for himself.
I imagine this arc would be very Wizard focused, specifically addressing his almost compulsive need to gain more power due to the staff. In a way, heâs following a similar path to the Wizards who built the city: their ambition seems to have been their downfall. Wizard Cookie, however, is still on that climb BEFORE the fall. Thereâs still time to save him from being entirely consumed by the power he fervently seeks.
Wizard would probably get into a heavy debate/argument with Blueberry Pie Cookie over this issue.
Dreams are funny things. The rules of the real world donât apply if one doesnât wish them to. And since the children reside in a dream controlled by Moonlight Cookie, she can very simply change some rules, even in her dormant state. Like, for example, the need for a certain cookie to remain holding a certain staff. And she wouldnât even need to lift a finger in order to, just as a hypothetical, subconsciously twist the dream in such a way that same cookie gets separated from the staff and his group.
This wouldnât be done with malicious intent; in fact, it would be the opposite.
During their journey through the City, the kids would come across the Labyrinth of Remembrance. It wouldnât be a big piece of the arc, considering Sugar Glass Cookie is no longer here. But it is within the Labyrinth where Wizard gets separated from Wild Strawberry and Gingerbrave, kickstarting them having to wake Moonlight up in order to get him back. HOWEVER, this trip inside the Labyrinth will have an unintended side-effect that will come back later to haunt them:
Some of the kidsâ memories get imprinted on the sugar glass. Memories that are discovered by one of the cookies sent by PV. This bit wonât come into play until much much later, but itâs something that will have consequences, nonetheless.
Meanwhile with Wizard, it is revealed the dream that told him the location of the City was Moonlight Cookieâs doing, though it was subconsciously. When the Slumbering Moon silently wished to see a âreal wizardâ again due to her heartache and fear of a terrible calamity, her Dream had rushed to fulfill her desire, though not entirely how she intended.
While she had not originally intended to invite Wizard and his friends here, she is still glad he came.
Another funny thing about dreams, despite how nonsensical they are, theyâre also terribly honest. They lay a personâs rawest emotions and desires out plainly, as oneâs subconsciousness pushes itself to the forefront in a desperate bid to be acknowledged. Wizard cannot hide anything from her because of this. She pries away the hard shell forged of hurt and bitterness that Wizard has constructed to protect himself and sees the boy for what he truly is: Afraid. A lost and scared little boy who just wants to be free. A little boy who has been taken advantage of by an evil spirit and told that only being powerful and ruthless will get him what he wants. Beyond the hurt, she sees a child who is bright and brilliant, whose zeal for magic reminds her so much of the Wizards of the distant past. Itâs almost as if her dear friends were in front of her once again, in the form of this small child.
And she feels pity for him.
âCome rest. Know peace.â She gently beckons, and pulls Wizard into a soft embrace, holding him in a way nobody ever has before. âI will protect your dreams, for as long as you are here.â
Wizard is not afraid of her. Rationally, he should be, yet he canât help but feel completely safe here. He still asks, âWhyâŚ?â
Heâs rotten. Heâs no good. Heâs corrupted and fowl and everything he touches burns and burns and burns until all thatâs left is ashes. Heâs hurt others just as much as others have hurt him. Heâs a vile child who is going to grow up to be a complete monster. He knows this to be true, because itâs been told to him over and over again by others. There is no going back. No hope for him. Yet here is this Goddess of Dreams welcoming him into her warm embrace despite just having met.
Why?
âDo I need a reason to comfort someone who is hurting?â she asks. âDoes kindness need to be conditional?â
If this were the waking world, Wizard would hiss and curse. Heâd tell her he didnât need her pity. Heâd shove her away and recoil even deeper into his shell, untrusting and hateful.
But this was a dream, a realm where oneâs truest self is laid bare, so the boy cries and sinks deeper into her embrace, wanting nothing more than to be held and soothed in the way he has seen other children comforted. And Moonlight Cookie cries with him, for she sees the wicked thorns the Azure Flame Staffâs curse has buried into his soul and she knows there is nothing she can do to help him at this moment. Not without risking great damage to him, that is. And they cry together, just the two of them, in this peaceful quiet dream.
âCome rest. Know peace.â Moonlight Cookie cradles the boy close, running a hand through his hair and wiping tears from his eyes. âI will protect your dreams, for as long as you need me to.â
He lets it all spill out from him. His pain, his fear, his rage. His emotions feel raw, like reopening an infected scarred-over wound and letting the rot spill out. He tells her all the awful truths heâs learned; how the real world is a terrible place and the only way to survive is to be just as terrible. How tired he is, but how he doesnât feel like he can stop, lest he disappoint his friends and their dream of a world where they can finally be happy crumbles apart.
In return, she whispers stories to him of when the city was alive. Of the lessons the Wizards imparted on her, and of the lessons she learned through their loss. She tells him how she regrets not being able to prevent the events that necessitated the city's mass evacuation. She warns him that those who are strong must also be gentle, and those who are powerful must remember to be kind. That is the secret to a truly happy world; the world he wishes for.
They both rest soundly until Gingerbrave and Wild Strawberry activate the Clocktower, probably with the help of the Union Emissaries. Right on time too, because Stardust Cookie arrives not too long after the kids reunite.
Wizard wonât tell the others what he talked with Moonlight Cookie about (was it even really talking if its just thoughts and memories bleeding into each other in a dreamlike haze?), but seeing the city she loves so much being destroyedâŚ
Well, much to Gingerbraveâs and Wild Strawberryâs surprise, Wizard Cookie tells them he wants to go out of his way to save the City. Usually, they donât try to rescue places they initially plan to wreak havoc in, but⌠Wizard seems really worked up about this. He seems to actually care and, well, who are they to say no?
So they help Moonlight fight off Stardust Cookie, however Wizardâs staff starts acting up. Why? Because it wants to consume Stardustâs lifeforce. It tries to compel Wizard to kill him. Imagine the power he would gain from killing such a being. All of it, just for him, all he has to do is take one cheap shot while Moonlight has Stardust distracted... But Wizard, for the very first time since obtaining the staff, does not comply.
âNo.â He grips the Azure Flame Staff firmly. âNot this one.â Because he can see hope in Moonlightâs eyes. He can hear her fondness for one she considers a brother. He canât take that away from her. Not after the kindness she had shown to him.
At first the spirit within the staff is confused, but then that quickly shifts to anger. Its own compulsive need to satiate its gluttonous appetite makes its calm mask slip. Wizard feels a tug, but he yanks it back.
âStop!â He commands and the staff merely laughs; the sound echoes in the boyâs head, making him feel dizzy. Wizard Cookie thinks heâs in charge here? Thatâs cute.
Wizard feels something snaking up his arms, through his torso, clawing his throat and shooting directly into his head. And then suddenly heâs asleep again, but itâs not nearly as peaceful or comforting as it had been with Moonlight.
Much to his friendsâ horror, the Staff begins to puppet Wizardâs body with the intent to kill Stardust. Gingerbrave, enraged by this, tackles the possessed Wizard Cookie and gets into a full-blown brawl with him. The minute he disarms Wizard, the possession stops and the boyâs body goes limp.
In the end, Moonlight and Stardust will reconcile. Moonlight Cookie will be asked to help the Cookie Union stand against Dark Enchantress, to which she will agree. Then she will turn to the Bad Batch. Gingerbrave is holding Wizardâs unconscious body, meanwhile Wild Strawberry has taken the Staff and is beating it against the nearest wall. Not hard enough to break it, but just hard enough to get her point across. Both children bristle when the Goddess approaches, unsure of what she plans to do. They werenât expecting her to kneel down in order to gently brush Wizardâs hair from his sleeping face. She looks⌠sad.
âI can tell he means a lot to you both,â she says. âHe feels the same about youâŚâ She looks up to meet Gingerbraveâs wide eyes. âI wish there was more I could do for him. Alas, my hands are tied unless he makes the choice himselfâŚâ
Nobody is quite sure what she means, but it seems to weigh on her.
âTake good care of him.â She smiles, but thereâs still so much sorrow in her eyes. Gingerbrave nods without hesitation.
And with a wave of her hand, all the mortal cookies awaken outside the City.
Even months after these events, Wizard Cookie doesnât share what happened while he was with Moonlight Cookie. He lies and says he canât remember after he woke up. He wonât even let the Staff pick at those memories, and much to the Staffâs frustration, thereâs something protecting that part of the boyâs mind.
Wizard Cookie is still bitter toward the world. Heâs still all-in on their plan to steal the Soul Jam. Heâs still loyal to his friends and willing to continue his research into the dark arts.
But some nights, when the moon seems especially beautiful and the dark seems especially peaceful, as Wizard Cookie drifts off to sleep⌠Sometimes he feels a familiar warm embrace.
âI will protect your dreams, for as long as you need me to.â

Sheâs the sweetest of sweet girls, I just wanna hug her >_<
Warnings: Intimacy but not anything explicit | set post season 2 |
A/N: Photos by Foggy Master on Pinterest
Sheâs never really had anyone to talk to about her problems, so she doesnât. All her life sheâs been protecting others, yet no one was able to do the same for her. She felt like a bother for any small thing she did and it would eat her alive. But after seeing how much you truly care, that you were willing to be there at her worst; she knew it was time.
Settling down is hard, sheâs been fighting since she was a child, being able to finally live is something she never thought was possible.
She looked into the fireplace, watching small sparks fly out and disperse into the surrounding wood. A hand creeped onto her shoulder, it was yours, sheâs always recognized it. Her head fell back onto your stomach as she looked up, seeing the face she loved so much. âYou okay?â You leaned down to press a kiss on her forehead. She didnât immediately give an answer, thinking back to the horrid events that took place in the war. The loss. Powder-blue eyes stared within yours, a thin lipped smile on her face. âNo, itâll take a while for me to be butâŚI will eventually.â
Is big on eye contact, especially when opening up. Sheâll look you in the eye whenever youâre talking, doing remotely anything.
Loves to read; her favorite genre is fantasy or mystery. After she finishes a book, sheâll talk to you for hours about the entire thing.
âHe couldnât find her during likeâthe entire duration of the book but then suddenly she pops out at the end and itâs just so crazy! And thenââ she rambled on until her eyes saw your face. You were smiling, expression filled with nothing but adoration; you were listening. Not a single speckle of boredom present. âThen what else?â You tilted your head. A smile began to twitch at her lips before she continued on.
Gets creative with nicknames; anything food related, honestly. You were starting to think itâs because sheâs hungry all the time but she has interesting reasons.
âYou sure, cheesecake? I heard itâsâââWait, wait, what did you call me?â You interrupted her with a confused laugh. âCheesecake? Whatâs wrong with it, youâre soft and sweet, like cheesecake.â She leaned her head on the palm of her hand. You simply shook your head at the her, âYou sure have a way with words.â
One of the sweetest in a batch of bad people. She is not at all flawless, sheâs made her mistakes, but her caring nature is undeniable.
When the two of you get intimate sheâs always soft, canât see her being rough or mean.
She placed light kisses on your neck, calloused hands gliding down your body. They felt rough, yet her motions were gentleâhandling you like royalty. She worships you, from your head to your toes.
Absolutely touch starved, no arguements. Even if itâs the smallest touch from you, itâll have her melting like ice cream on a sunny day.
Playing with her hair is an absolute must; your fingers smoothing over pink strands thatâd stick up.
Gives the best hugs ever, sheâll squeeze you tight, wanting to provide security.
Occasionally drools in her sleepâimagine waking up and seeing it dribbling down her chin. Itâs a sign that sheâs comfortable.

What I wouldn't give for an animated "blooper reel" for Bad Batch:
- Hunter leaning up against a wall between takes, dozing off and almost falling over
- Tech looking down at his data pad while on the move through a forest set and walking straight into a tree
- Wrecker sitting down on the wrong chair and accidentally breaking it
- Echo flubbing his lines on purpose to make the others laugh while he keeps his own expression dead serious
- Crosshair not laughing when Echo flubs his lines, instead silently matching Echo's serious expression with the take ultimately turning into an intense staring contest
- Cut to Crosshair in his trailer loudly singing karaoke and playing air guitar with the prop rifle
- Omega is filming ALL of it
- Also Omega is the first to break character when anyone messes up a line
- Also Omega starting the cast conga line/dance party
- Rex, during his reveal in "The Clone Conspiracy," jokingly complaining that removing his cloak hood messes up his hair
- Several Howzer scenes needing to be reworked because donning/doffing his helmet actually messes up his hair cue Crosshair shouting from the sidelines "Just shave your head already"
- Gregor is... Gregor
- Phee being the pinnacle of professionalism while on camera while also being responsible for 99% of the pranks and shenanigans on set

Part 3! Ratchet and Deadlock time.
The ray of sunshine has left, leaving us in the cold dark of the angst.
Ratchet works through some stuff.
âââââââââââââââââââââââ
Ratchet hadnât actually meant for the conversation to start with Roddy.
The medic had wanted to fully explain why heâd left the Mecha Program for awhile. His outburst earlier cementing the fact he needed to get it off his chest, or heâd start lashing out at the wrong people.
Again.
The Kid deserved to know what staying with him could drag him into. Ratchet kept his hands busy cleaning his bowl in the shop sink.
Hot Rod, Ratchet realized, was a good enough bridge into the topic. Someone Deadlock could put a face to. Not just nameless pilots upon pilots.
âThereâs a condition called Congenital Insensitivity to Pain. CIP for short. The abbreviated explanation is sometimes humans can be born without the ability to feel pain or that the sensation of pain doesnât translate correctly to the brain. Itâs a very dangerous condition to have since it means that the person doesnât get the usual warning signs thatâs somethingâs wrong.â
The bowl was completely clean but so long as Ratchet didnât turn around, he could pretend he was just training a med student.
âSo that question about âweird pressuresâ. You were checking for damage Hot Rod doesnât know heâs sustained due this CIP condition?â
Kid was smarter than he gave himself credit for. Ratchet thought for not the first time. He almost got it right.
âHot Rod doesnât have CIP. Not actual CIP.â
Ratchet put the bowl down, his hand not moving from the faucet after turning it off.
âHe wasnât born with it. Because I caused it.â
âââââââââ
âI was so damn proud.â Said Ratchet.
At the time, he was. The integration process for recruits to become pilots was horrific. Excruciatingly painful. And something out of a science fiction movie.
In order to condition the human nervous system to work with the mecha neural interface, it necessitated mapping out every nerve and neuron in the pilots body.
While conscious.
Orion came up with the best analogy for it once: You could create a perfect 3 dimensional map of an entire ant colonyâs nest. Provided you poured enough molten lead down the hole.
Ratchet wasnât one to standby watching friends or strangers suffer, so he rolled up his sleeves and set his mind to fixing the whole damn thing.
On the line between man and machine, Ratchets role in the mecha program was right on the fence.
Specifically, heâd started very close to the fence on the side of the machines, and during the course of the program, picked up enough extra PHDâs to hook a leg over said fence to reach across and start smacking the shit out of some particularly stupid doctors handling the men.
Ratchet worked for years along side Pharma and Shockwave to make the integration process less permanently damaging.
Common long term side effects were: Blurry Vision Jazz, Disassociation Swoop, Memory Loss Sludge, Paralysis Snarl, Nerve Damge Slag, Internal Hemorrhaging Grimlock, Altered Personality Shockwave, and Brain Death Orion.
There were dozens more faces Ratchet could pair with any given symptom.
Eventually, Ratchet got his lucky break. A fresh batch of recruits to try his tweaked integration process on. Hot Rod was one of them.
Ratchet had thought heâd hit a breakthrough. But he couldnât. He couldnât publish it yet. Not until he was sure.
Hot Rod aced the physical and mental exam. The rest of his test group did pretty well too. They werenât cream of the crop. The higher ups didnât want to risk loosing more valuable pilots to an experiment. When Pharma had already established an âacceptable level of careâ that nicely suited them.
Ratchet personally watched the lot of them like a hawk. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
It didnât come. Hot Rod was fine. The whole group was fine.
He was so damn proud.
The pilots went straight into mecha training and then-
They dropped like flies.
It was on the bad end of the bell curve for pilot fatalities. Ratchet thought it had to be the new series of mecha that had been built at the same time. Heâd switched into engineering mode to rectify that. They had glaring safety issues where the flamethrowers and thrusters intersected. Plus, it wasnât unusual for the mecha program to just have particularly rough seasons. The tentacled fucks were out in swarms. And by god was that a bloody summer for everyone.
It happened three days after the last big fight. Pretty much everyone who came back alive came back with some sort of injury. Except for Hot Rod, who Pharma gave a clean bill of health.
Ratchet was in his corner of the medical wing, looking over his proposal for the new integration method when Jazz dragged Hot Rod into his office.
Red flag number one: Jazz was a nightmare patient who avoided the med wing like a bear trap.
He tried. Goddamn it if Jazz didnât try, but he was physically incapable of getting through medical procedures without being heavily sedated. The last time Ratchet tried to do minor stitches with only a local anesthetic, Jazz panicked and damn near broke his arm.
Jazz and Hot Rod were both wearing shorts, t-shirts and sneakers. Judging from the smell, they had just gotten here from the rec room. Probably basketball or maybe dodgeball.
Ratchet had gone through a full medical checklist before they finished coming through the door. Neither looked sick or injured. Nothing was obviously wrong beyond the clear look on Jazzâs face that said âSomething is actually very wrong.â
Jazz wheeled Hot Rod in front of Ratchet.
âShow him.â
Hot Rod looked more embarrassed than in desperate need of medical attention.
âIâm fine Jazz, I probably just need to stretch.â
Jazz waved his hand cutting him off. Ratchet would usually start telling them off by now but something stopped him.
âHot Rod raise your arms above your head. Both of them.â
The red headed pilot reluctantly obeyed. His right arm lifted straight up above his body. His left. Hot Rod made a face of concentration, as his left arm refused to go any higher than his head.
Three days.
Hot Rods shoulder had been dislocated for three days and no one fucking noticed.
Ratchet chewed out Jazz at first thinking heâd caused it. Then he chewed out Hot Rod for not coming to medical as soon as he knew about the injury.
And then, something very cold settled into his stomach the more and more Hot Rod swore he didnât notice. That it didnât even hurt.
âRatchet, Iâm fine!â
He should have been in pain. In agony after three days.
Later, Ratchet would go through each medical file of every pilot he had been responsible for. They had all had ailments in their files. Minor visible injuries that were all taken care of. Major ones went surprisingly smoothly. Patient notes praising the med staff for keeping them so comfortable. Praising him. Not one pilot had made a single pain med request since going through the integration process. On his files, there was one surviving active duty pilot from the same integration process.
Ratchetâs integration process.
ââââââââ
âHot Rod said he forgave me.â Ratchet laughed. A little too wet and little too rough.
âJust like that.â
Whenâd he start shaking?
Ratchet still didnât, couldnât look the Kid in the eyes. âI left, not long after. Thereâs so much fucking more that was happening. That was the last straw, because when I told Shockwave and Pharma, those heartless fucks wanted to make it standard across the board. Soldiers that canât feel pain? Of fucking course they wanted that. Didnât matter the fatality rate was nine times as high.â
Ratchets voice was getting worse. But he couldnât stop. âI thought I could fix it all from the inside. I thought as long as I stayed I could be some, fucking moral compass to a bunch of greedy, prideful, fucking deranged people. I was an egotistical IDIOT that thought I could somehow save every doomed kid tricked into walking into that ânecessary evil.â I actually believed I could-â
Ratchet was abruptly cut off from his ranting as two massive hands grabbed him around the waist and deposited him on a ledge, at eye level.
âKid, what-â Deadlocks eyes looked shiny.
âI-I canât keep looking down at you.â
The two of them sat in silence.
Neither seemed to know or want to start talking again right away. Ratchet was used to stewing in regrets on occasion. That had felt more like putting those regrets into a blender and then forgetting the lid.
Deadlocks plating was pulled tight. Ratchet had almost forgotten what he looked like when he was stressed. He wanted immediately to take it all back. Make it better. See him laugh drunk and cozy again like yesterday.
âKid, Iâm sorry. That- that was too much to put on you.â Deadlocks hands werenât gripping him anymore but resting on either side of the ledge. Ratchet pet small circles on a thumb that twitched slightly under his hand.
Deadlock straightened and looked at him with a steely expression, mouth tense, eyes determined.
âYou are one of the most intelligent, stubborn, and caring people Iâve ever met. Nope.â Deadlock corrected himself, lifting a hand. âTHE most intelligent, stubborn and caring person that exists.â He dragged out the syllables of that last word.
âYou!â He poked Ratchet in the chest. âSaved me. And Iâm fragging terrible.â
Ratchet took offense to that, âYouâre not terrible and youâre worth saving!â
Deadlock grinned, âThe worst thing you can possibly say about yourself is that you care too much to put up with some kind of slagged up torture facility. Which, by the way, I am still fully offering to blown up.â
âStill full of innocent people kid.â
âOkay kidnapping then. I say we nab Hot Rod first.â
Ratchet leaned back against the wall and made one of those desperate chuckles you only hear when someone has their face buried in their hands. âKid. The quintessons.â
That took a little wind out of his sails.
âThe system is fucking broken and trust me I want to see it all burn someday. But weâre in a goddamn war. And as much as I hate the mecha program, itâs the best shot at survival we have.â Ratchet watched Deadlocks finales pin back again.
He offered a palm to Ratchet, who after a momentâs consideration, not very gracefully scooted on. Instead of lowering him to the floor, Deadlock brought him to his face. His eyes closed and he gently bumped his medic with his forehelm.
âWhatever you need. Just ask. Please.â
Ratchet sighed and rested his own forehead against the cybertronian. âI want you take care of yourself. I told you all that stuff so you understand why Iâm fighting giants here and you can decide to back out. They can hurt you kid. Kill you. I donât even want to think about what would have happened if Shockwave found you instead of me.â
Deadlock snorted, âPlease, do you think any of those suits could handle me?â
Ratchet tapped his hand to put him down, which Deadlock obliged. He hummed.
âWell I can think of three candidates off the top of my head, but one got lost in space and the other might technically be a zombie.â
âWhatâs the third?â
Ratchet started shrugging on a coat, âHot Rod.â
He smirked a bit as Deadlocks finales snapped up in offense. âWhat? Absolutely not. No fragging way that little rust spot can beat me in a fight.â
Ratchet began packing a go bag of medical supplies, âWell I was going to keep it to myself, but part of the reason I brought him in was because I asked Hot Rod to look out for you where I canât.â
He slung the heavy bag over one shoulder. âPlus, I knew Hot Rod was going to love you. He sees the best in people. And kid?â Ratchet paused at the door.
âYouâre someone special.â
âââââââââââââââââââââââ
Itâs always darkest before the dawn. ThisâŚhas become a four parter. Dang. Good news is the ray of sunshine will return in style next time.
Some extra tid-bits, I got a head canon that the main side effect Jazz got from the integration process (other than PTSD) is blurry vision. He can see fine while hooked into a mech but canât get his eyes to focus properly as a human. So Ratchet whipped up a visor that tricks his eyes into thinking heâs still looking through a mecha so he can see normally.
Also, a lot of you guys guessed correctly what was going on with Roddy! Good job everyone!
Lastly I have nothing personal against the dinobots if you love them Iâm very sorry.
The next (last?) part will be much brighter. Because the suns coming back.
- SSTP
Oh.....oh fuck....wait WAIT THIS HAS SO MUCH MORE LAYERS THAN I WAS EXPECTING OH MY GOD
I was like. Okay huh. So Roddy can't feel pain right? He must be having this rare condition and? I don't really see where this is going? Huh. Guess it's time to find ouUUUUUH FUCK.
Please. Oh my god. The fact that Ratchet was the one who made him to be like that??? This gives both of them and their dynamic more layers than in a freaking onion. And Roddy didn't just suffer from Ratchets actions. He forgave him. Because OF COURSE he did, he's always giving everyone a second chance I LOVE THIS CONCEPT SO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA

Ahh!!!!
There's a book?!?!/gn
yes!
It was leaked a while ago that there was a Bad Batch novel coming out, but the plot/time period was unknown.
Today, the official Star Wars website confirmed the book is coming, revealed the cover, and gave us plot info! It confirmed the book will take place during Season 2 and will be about the Batch helping Phee rebuild Pabu after the tsunami by raising funds on a series of missions. So, confirmed Tech and Phee interactions! Maybe canon confirmation?! Weâll have to see, but it is VERY exciting!
Plus, before the author Lamar Giles got involved with Star Wars, he wrote YA novels with a focus on black characters and experiences. Iâm hoping that continues in a well-written Phee, plus hopefully describing the Batch as POC to amend the whitewashing done in the show.
Info from Star Wars here:

#bad batch novel#techphee#but weâll miss out on Crosshair if itâs set on Pabu during season 2 :(

âęĽď˝đđĽđđŹđŹ đđ¨đŽđŤ đđđđŤđ ď˝ęĽâ

âęĽď˝ Sinister!Mark Edition!ď˝ęĽâ
Pairing: Sinister!Mark Grayson x Southern Belle!Reader
Warnings: I mean sinister is his own warning but honestly itâs very tame â I love reader too much to do her dirty
Tags: Reader is obliviousâMark is not, domesticity but make it dangerous, food = feelings = possession, reader feeds the wrong man
Word Count: 2,684
Synopsis: You were just being politeâfeeding a hungry stranger who looked like he hadnât had a decent meal in days. Itâs what any good southern girl wouldâve done. He didnât talk much, didnât smile much either, but bless his heart, he cleaned his plate like a man on death row and looked at you like youâd done southern sorcery. Only problem? Now he wonât leave.
a/n: to set the scene: Mark was passing over Georgia otw to a big city during the Invincible Wars but we all know this man can eat đ so when he smells that southern cookinâ heâs just GOTTA make a pit stop (this might lowkey be my favorite?? VERY tempted to do another part for this)
you can start reading the main series âęĽď˝ Here! ď˝ęĽâ
The backyard is alive with the sound of friends laughing, the sizzle of meats on the grill, and the light clink of glassesâjust a typical Saturday night cookout in Georgia. The heat doesnât mind, clinging to your skin, but itâs all good, âcause youâve got the best BBQ in town and enough sweet tea to keep anyone happy.
Youâre just about to check the ribs again when something cracks the air.
Not a flash of lightning. Not a plane. No, this is biggerâor at least, seems bigger. The kind of sound that makes the trees shudder and the dogs howl in panic.
You look up from the grill, squinting into the sky. Your friends barely notice, still wrapped up in their own conversations. Everyone's too deep into the party to hear itâexcept for you. And that sound? Itâs bad. Too bad. But you brush it off as a fluke, not like youâve ever been one to get skittish.
Then you hear it againâcloser this time.
Boom.
The ground shakes underfoot.
A few heads turn. Someone laughs.
âYou sure weâre not near a runway or somethinâ?â a friend jokes.
You shake your head. The air smells wrong, though. Something metallic. Something deep in the earth. But the foodâs almost done, and thereâs a few folks eyeing that last batch of coleslaw, so you shrug it off.
That is, until the trees part like theyâre being ripped down by some invisible hand.
A figure steps out of the smoke and into the clearing. You freeze for a secondâtall, broad-shouldered, and covered in dirt and blood? Definitely not your usual neighbor popping by. But hey, this is Georgia, and folks sure have a habit of popping by when you least expect it.
Heâs wearing a black and yellow suit, torn at the edges, face grimy and set like heâs walked through hell itself. His eyes are glowing, but you donât notice that right away. Your brain does the mental gymnastics of âhe looks like heâs been huntingâ and âokay, maybe heâs lostâ before you really stop and look.
The guyâs not normal. Not by a long shot.
But you? You? You just tilt your head, raise an eyebrow, and call out.
âYou lost, sugar? You look like you been runninâ from somethinâ.â
He doesnât speak. Doesnât even flinch when you address him, standing there in the middle of the yard like heâs deciding whether to blow everything up or just... stand there.
You walk over toward him, not too fast, but not slow either. Youâve got ribs to finish, and the nightâs getting late. Youâre not about to let some weird stranger ruin your good time.
âYou hungry or what? You donât look like youâre from around here, but the foodâs hot. And I ainât got time to be askinâ a million questions. So, either youâre gonna stand there starinâ or youâre gonna sit and eat.â
He watches you. Doesnât blink. Doesnât even breathe for a long second, but when he shifts, you notice the hunger in his posture. Itâs not a casual look. Itâs the kind of stare that makes your pulse pick up, but youâre too wrapped up in hospitality to worry about it.
âIâve got cornbread, sweet tea, and a whole lotta ribs. If youâre just gonna keep standinâ there, Iâm gonna think you donât know what youâre missinâ.â
And without saying another word, you turn, walk back into the house, and leave the screen door open behind you.
The next thing you hear is his boots hitting the porch. Heavy, determined. Heâs following you inside.
You donât even turn around.
âCâmon, sugar. Donât be shy.â
He sits at your kitchen table, too stiff, too tense to be comfortable. But youâve got ribs on the counter, mashed potatoes on the stove, and a whole pot of collard greens simmering in the corner, so you just keep doing what youâre doing. Setting the table. Stirring the pot. Making sure everythingâs just right.
âI donât bite,â you offer casually as you set down a plate, the food still steaming. âUnless you ask nice.â
Heâs not looking at you. Heâs looking at the food. His eyes flicker between the plate and you like he canât believe itâs real. But once that plate hits the table? Itâs like something in him snaps.
He grabs the ribs. Bare hands. No knife, no fork. Just raw hunger.
And you? You just stand there, watching.
âYouâve been hunting for a while, havenât you?â you ask, half-teasing. âYou eat like you ainât had a meal in months.â
He looks up then, eyes catching yours. Thereâs something darker in his gaze, something sharp.
âIâve gone longer.â
âYeah? Well, ainât no need for you to be so grim. Youâre eatinâ good now.â
You lean against the counter, arms crossed, watching as he devours the food. Itâs almost impressive, the way heâs tearing through everything. Itâs like heâs starved. Like he needed this meal more than anything.
You canât quite explain why, but... you feel like maybe youâre the one in control here. Maybe itâs the southern charm, or maybe itâs just your damn good cooking. Either way, youâre gonna enjoy this strange little moment with the stranger at your table.
âYou want more?â you ask casually, tipping your head to the stove.
He just looks at you again. This time, itâs less cold, more... curious.
âYeah,â he mutters. âI want more.â
You're putting the finishing touches on his second plateâextra mashed potatoes, a little more brisket, because Lord knows he tore through the first like he hadnât seen a fork in yearsâwhen the screen door creaks open again behind you.
Maggieâs voice cuts through the low hum of cicadas and music drifting in from the backyard.
âHey, [y/n]? We ran outta napkinsââ She stops mid-step.
You turn, smiling, just as Tate bumps into Magâs shoulder with a beer in hand.
âYou got more inside? I spilled a littleââ
He stops too.
Both of them are staring toward your kitchen table where your unexpected guest sits like a warning carved in stone. Heâs hunched forward slightly, eyes too red, posture too still, like a bear that hasn't decided if you're a threat or a snack.
You just step over to his side with a hand gently landing on his shoulder. His body is tenseâcoiled tight like a springâbut you donât think much of it.
âNow donât yâall go starinâ,â you say cheerfully, running your hand down the back of his suit, brushing off some soot. âThis poor thing just came in outta the woods lookinâ half-dead. I reckon heâs been huntinâ all week and didnât catch a thing. Probably embarrassed, bless his heart.â
Maggieâs mouth opens, but no words come out. She glances at Tate like are we not gonna talk about the blood on his sleeves?
âYou feedinâ him... uh... now?â Tate asks slowly.
âCourse I am,â you chirp, already sliding the second plate in front of Mark. âLook at himâhe ainât eaten in days. I can tell by the way heâs sittinâ. All tight like a rabbit in a foxhole. You know how men get when they ainât fed proper.â
Markâs jaw flexes. His eyes flick up toward Maggieâthen to Tateâslow, calculating. Youâre standing right beside him, warm hand still on him like a tether.
You misread the look entirely.
âDonât mind him,â you say, waving it off. âHeâs just nervous. You drop a man into a house full of strangers and feed him a full plate, and oâcourse heâs gonna be a little guarded. Thatâs manners.â
Maggie swallows.
â...Right. Manners.â
Mark hasnât said a word since they came in, but his hands have stopped flexing under the table. His gaze shifts back to you. Still sharp. Still unreadable.
You smile down at him, proud of yourself for making him feel welcome.
âYou got a name, sugar?â
He watches you a beat too long before answering, voice low and rough. âMark.â
You clap your hands softly, delighted.
âWell, Mark,â you say, grinning. âHope you brought an appetite, âcause I donât let folks leave my house hungry.â
His expression barely shifts, but something in his eyes flickers.
âI wonât.â
â
Youâre leaning against the counter again, glass in hand, still chatting with Maggie about the peach cobbler cooling on the windowsill when someone new wanders into the kitchen. Robbie. That friend of Tateâs who always thinks heâs funnier than he is. Got a little too much sun, a little too much beer, and not nearly enough sense.
He sees you, lights up like a porch bulb.
âWell damn, [y/n], you been hidinâ in here the whole time?â
You laugh, casual.
âHad to make sure my guest didnât keel over from starvation. Boy looked like a scarecrow when he came outta them woods.â
Robbie gives Mark a once-over. Slows down at the red eyes. The blood-streaked arms. The unnatural stillness.
âHe, uh⌠doinâ okay?â
âHeâs fine,â you said, brushing past it. âJust needed a hot meal and a warm porch, thatâs all.â
Mark doesnât say a word. Doesnât move. Just watches.
Robbie sidles up next to you, close enough that you feel his elbow graze yours.
âWell if you get tired of playinâ nurse, I wouldnât mind stealinâ you away for a dance. We still got music out back. You always were the best two-stepper on this side of town.â
You smile, polite and a little bashful.
âAinât danced in ages.â
Behind you, the chair legs scrape.
You glance overâMarkâs shifted. Just barely. His hands are resting on the table now, fingers spread like heâs grounding himself. Or like heâs seconds away from launching across the room.
Robbie doesnât notice. But Maggie does. She suddenly finds a reason to check her phone.
You, bless your soul, remain utterly unaware.
âRobbie, donât be silly,â you say with a playful swat to his arm. âYou just want someone to show off to.â
Robbie grins.
Mark twitches.
Your guestâs gaze is locked on the spot where Robbie touched you. His lip curlsânot quite a snarl, but close. His knuckles go white.
âSo what if I do?â Robbie says, leaning a little closer. âYou know Iâve had a soft spot for you since high school.â
Your laugh is soft. Good-natured.
âYou and every other boy south of Atlanta, Robbie. Yâall get all misty-eyed soon as I break out the cornbread.â
You donât notice the shift in air pressure, the subtle hum of tension winding tighter and tighter around the kitchen.
But Maggie does. Tate does. Even the damn flies do.
Robbie just keeps grinning.
âWell, maybe I need a reminder of what Iâve been missinâ, huh?â
Then he reachesâlightly, playfullyâto touch your waist.
Thatâs when Mark stands.
Fast. Quiet. Absolute.
Everyone freezes.
Heâs not yelling. Heâs not doing anything dramatic. Heâs just standing there, still as death, eyes glowing brighter now, like coals stoked hot. Heâs staring at Robbie with the kind of look youâd give a bug youâre deciding whether to step on or dissect.
Robbieâs hand drops instantly.
âUhâŚâ Suddenly Robbieâs as sober as a preacher.
You blink, glancing between the two of them, completely missing the tension about to snap the room in half.
âMy,â you say lightly, stepping between them without a care in the world, hand brushing Markâs arm. âYâall seem wound up tighter than a racoonâs tail in a trap.â
Mark doesnât look at you. Doesnât breathe.
But he doesnât move either.
âHeâs just beinâ friendly,â you tell him sweetly, like youâre calming a jumpy horse. âAinât no harm in a little flirtinâ. Thatâs just how folks around here are.â
You pat his chestâfirm, warm.
âYou donât gotta puff up like a bear just âcause someone gets talkative.â
Mark finally blinks.
Barely.
But he sits.
Not because heâs calm.
Because you asked.
And Robbie? Robbie suddenly remembers a reason to be anywhere else.
Itâs quiet in the kitchen now.
â
The last of the guests have trickled out, carrying pie in foil and beers in koozies, waving lazily and promising to see you at church next Sunday or at Maggieâs baby shower. The cicadas are humming louder now that the sunâs down, and the overhead light casts the room in that warm yellow glow that makes everything feel soft.
You're at the sink, sleeves rolled up, wrist-deep in soap suds. The smell of hickory smoke still lingers in the air, wrapped around vanilla and leftover grease. Your backâs to him, humming low under your breath as you rinse off a casserole dish.
Mark hasnât said a word since Robbie left.
Heâs sitting at the kitchen table again, but not eating. Just watching. Still. Quiet.
Too quiet.
You glance over your shoulder with a little smile.
âYou doinâ okay over there, sugar? You look like youâre waitinâ for the other shoe to drop.â
He doesnât respond at first. His eyes flick down to the plate in front of himâthe third one you filled without thinking. Then back to you.
âYou cook like this all the time?â
You laugh, tossing a dish towel over your shoulder as you scrub at a stubborn bit of baked-on cheese.
ââCourse I do. You think folks show up here for my charm alone?â
You donât see itâbut he grins.
Sharp. Quiet. Possessive.
Then his chair scrapes back.
You glance up just in time to see him cross the room in three slow steps, stopping behind you. He doesnât touch you yet, just stands there, close enough that you feel the warmth of him against your back.
The tensionâs different now.
Itâs not hunger.
Itâs not restraint.
Itâs decision.
âThatâs good to hear,â he murmurs, voice rough at the edges, curling around the shell of your ear.
You blink, hands stilling in the water.
âHuh?â
You turnâonly for him to step in, one hand bracing on the counter beside your hip, the other lifting to cup the side of your neck. Gentle. Too gentle for how wild he looks.
Eyes glowing.
Mouth parted.
Grin sharp.
âI didnât want to have to go far for it.â
Your breath catches.
âFor what?â
âAll of it,â he says, thumb dragging slow along your jaw. âThe food. The soft voice. The hands that donât flinch. You.â
You blink up at him, laugh a little shaky now.
âYou talkinâ likeââ
âIâm telling you,â he cuts in, soft but final. âYou belong to me now.â
The world tilts.
Your lips part, but heâs already thereâclose, not kissing yet, just brushing his forehead to yours, like heâs anchoring himself to something precious.
âYou fed me,â he breathes. âYou smiled at me. Thatâs it. Thatâs all it takes.â
Your heart is thudding now, ears ringing, hands still damp from the sinkwater.
âYou sure thatâs how it works?â you whisper, breathless, not pulling away.
He grins wider.
âIt is now.â
And then he kisses you.
Like heâs starving all over again.

Shifting Loyalties NSFW
Word Count: 7.7k Pairings: The Bad Batch x fem!reader, Tech girlies you get an extra treat. Warnings: I'm not gonna lie y'all, this is smut with almost no plot. I can't list it all. I have no excuses, it's all the batch at once so that should give you an idea of what you're walking into. But no clonecest here. Barely proofread. Summary: The Bad Batch and you are supporting the 501st on a mission, where you are reunited with your old squad. The Batch get a bit jealous and Jesse fans the flame. NSFW
Fives is alive for this because, who doesnât need more Fives and who doesnât want to scream at canon sometimes.
-
âItâs obnoxious is what it is.â Crosshair spat, biting down hard enough on his toothpick to snap it in two.
The source of his irritation was the scene unfolding amongst the men of the 501st. During another last-minute mission as General Skywalker's backup, you and Echo had settled in with your former squad before it was time to turn in for the night. Gathered in a loose circle were Echo, Rex, Jesse, Fives, Kix, and you, catching up while the Batch observed from a distance.
Perched on a crate, with Fives at your side leaning on an elbow and talking your ear off, you crossed your ankles and swayed your feet lightly, clearly enjoying the conversation. When Fives' hand casually landed on your thigh, emphasizing his point, Wrecker couldn't suppress a low groan.
"What's so special about those guys, anyway?" Wrecker grumbled, tossing a hand in your direction as a loud laugh escaped you. "I bet it's not even that funny!"
Paying as little attention to the situation as possible, Tech interjected, "There's nothing 'special' about them. Itâs simply a shared history." He glanced up to see Fives stand a bit taller, gesturing animatedly as he dominated the conversation. Fives leaned closer to you, his hands gripping your knees for balance.
Logically, there was nothing wrong with their behavior. As Tech understood it, such comradery was not uncommon amongst the regs. Yet seeing you at the center of it set his teeth on edge.
Kix and Jesse had picked up on the Batchâs attitude the moment you stepped off the Marauder. Rex warmed up to the 99âs but the rest of the 501st maintained their distance. That distance solidified into distaste when you left the 501st to join the Batch.
As Rex and Echo broke away on their own, Jesse sidled up to your side, opposite of Fives, with Kix at his side. While Fives pulled every laugh out of you he could, Kix noticed the scowl Tech was leveling him and subtly nudged Jesse.
âLooks like weâve got an audience.â Kix muttered.
Jesse glanced briefly towards the four Batch members who were watching intently. "Oh, really?" Jesse scoffed, his gaze sweeping over the group before returning to you with a renewed, cocky smile. âWell, then letâs give them something to look at.â
Hopping up next to you, Jesse leaned into your space to position behind your back and hovering over your waist. âSay, Shorty?â He finally interrupted Fivesâ ramblings, getting the ARC trooper to push off of you.
âOh!â You laughed. âBack to âShortyâ are we?â
Fives crossed his arms and grinned, âWell, seeing as how you are shorter than us - youâll always be a shorty to us.â He nodded towards his brothers at your side. You rolled your eyes, but the small smile tugging at you betrayed your enjoyment
Catching this, Jesse and Fives shared a knowing look, Fives briefly glancing at Jesse's hand still poised near your side. Fives then uncrossed his arms and nodded subtly.
âAs I was sayingâŚâ Jesse continued, his tone teasing. âYou ever get over that little twitch of yours?â
A confused look passed over you. With a small shake of your head you asked, âWhat âtwitch?ââ
Without warning, Jesseâs hand snapped to your side, his fingers wiggling into your ribs, eliciting a yelp as you jumped into him. In a desperate attempt to escape his tickling, you shimmied forward, laughing through the discomfort. The sudden movement toppled you off the crate, straight into Fivesâ waiting arms. Without missing a beat, he caught you with one arm cradling your ass and the other holding you by your waist.
Jesse and Kix chuckled as you shoved against Fives, your feigned anger fooling no one. Kix leaned over to Jesse, musing, "Oh, they didn't like that one bit."
âLooks like someone should go lend them some comfort.â Jesse said sarcastically, sauntering off towards the four troopers.
From their side, the Batch watched on in disgust as you sat in Fivesâ arms losing yourself in laughter. He hoisted you over his shoulder, bouncing you a couple of times for show, before setting you back on your feet.
"Show off," Hunter muttered under his breath, rolling his eyes as he turned from the spectacle. He gestured to his brothers with a brisk nod. "C'mon lads, letâs head inside." Despite the order, Tech, Wrecker, and Crosshair remained firmly in place as Jesse approached, his presence igniting further irritation.
A guttural growl rumbled from Crosshair as Jesse closed in, his tone playful yet provocative. "You're not heading out so soon, are you, fellas?" He jerked a thumb back in your direction, his grin sharp. "Youâre missing all the fun over here."
âOh goody.â Crosshair angled a mean smile at him, placing a toothpick between his lips. âTell me, are all regs as dull as you?â
Maintaining his composure, Jesse leaned in slightly, his confidence unshaken. âWith her smiling like that, I canât say Iâm too worried about being dull. We always kept her smiling. In fact, most nights with us ended with her being happy.â He casually rested a hand on his hip, his smirk widening. âGuess you fellas are only good with clankers.â
Tech, standing next to Crosshair, frowned deeply, his eyes flicking between the men of the 501st and you. His voice was sharp, clinical. âWhat exactly are you insinuating?â
Before Jesse could reply, Wrecker pushed forward, his massive frame towering as he stepped between his brothers. His voice was deep and menacing, each word dripping with threat., âYeah, what are you in-sin-ua-ting?â
Jesse stepped closer, meeting the challenge and smirking up at the large clone. âIâm saying, we mustâve been doing something you aren't.â His gaze briefly flickering over to where you were mingling with others, finally realizing where Jesse had strayed off to. While he could, Jesse snuck in one more jab. âGuess Echo didnât tell you everything. We were more than a squad to her.â
The implication ripped a growl from Crosshair, but before he could escalate the situation, your warm voice broke the tension. âYou wouldnât be causing trouble now, would you, Jesse?â
Jesse turned toward you with a feigned innocence, his chuckle light. âOf course not,â he replied smoothly. âJust catching them up on the old days.â As he clapped a hand on your shoulder and gave it a playful shake, he threw in, âSpeaking of which, why donât you bunk with us tonight, Shorty? Itâll be just like old times.â
His use of your nickname in front of your squad heated your face. From the noise Crosshair made, you were going to have trouble living that down.
With a laugh, you rolled his hand off your shoulder, your tone light but firm. âOh, I donât think so. I actually need to get some sleep.â You poked a finger into Jesseâs chest plate playfully yet pointedly. âWhich Iâm sure wouldnât happen with your lot around.â
Wrecker's eyebrows flew up as he shot a look at Hunter, who wore a similarly stunned expression. They were just beginning to catch glimpses of your unfiltered self, and while they had suspected the men of the 501st were trying to rile them up, they never dreamt of the level of intimacy you just admitted to.
Seeing you banter so comfortably with the regs, with laughter and playful jabs, left the Batch glowering. For the first time in their lives, they were truly jealous of these regs. They were getting used to being the closest to you, the ones you leaned on during missions, and this unexpected side of youâcloser with regs than themâstruck a chord.
âLetâs go, lads.â Hunter ordered with a firmness that turned your head. You knew your squad was on edge with the regs, but Hunter sounded almost angry. He left without another word and his brothers trailed behind shortly after. Crosshair was the last to leave, flicking his toothpick past Jesse, barely missing his face.
Watching them retreat to the makeshift barracks adjacent to the 501stâs, you turned to Jesse, your expression one of exasperation. "What did you do?" you demanded.
Jesse put his hands up innocently, saying, âNot my fault your squad doesnât like to share.â
Share? Weighing the worth of further questioning him against checking in with the Batch, you grumbled in frustration and pointed a warning finger at your former squadmate, âYouâre just as bad.â Not allowing him to get under your skin as well you made for your barracks.Â
You walked in on the Batch quietly conversing, standing around Wrecker as he sat on a bottom bunk. Out of the lot, Tech and Wrecker turned slightly to see you walking in their direction. You gave a little wave as you neared. The conversation fell silent the nearer you got, widening your nervous smile. They are not happy, you inwardly groaned
Attempting to break the tension you said in a light tone, âCanât believe weâre actually sleeping in the barracks.â Pulling up to the corner of Wreckerâs bunk, you leaned against the post, arms crossed. âEcho will be pleasantly surprised.â
Crosshair snorted, âIt fits. Heâs full of surprises.â His odd response, again, pinched your brows.
Widening your eyes and raising your brows in the awkward moment, you flared your fingers out around your arms. âWell, Iâll just pick a bunk.â
You pushed off the bunk only for Wrecker to catch you by the elbow and tug you into his lap, teetering on his thigh, with a hand at the small of your back.
You twisted in your spot to smile at Wrecker, who was looking unexpectedly bashful. âWhatâs all this?â They boys had only recently started toeing past physical boundaries, this was a bit of a jump for them. Further trying to dissipate the tension, you rocked into Wrecker with your hip. âScared of sleeping alone suddenly?â
Wrecker swallowed hard, his eyes darting briefly to his brothers as if seeking support or reassurance.
Maintaining a polite, albeit confused, smile you followed his line of sight.. While Tech kept his nose in his datapad, Crosshair stepped up next to Hunter, prompting the Sergeant to step forward and take a knee in front of you.
Hunter's gaze was heavy as he took a deep breath, then slowly lifted his eyes to meet yours. The intensity there caused you to catch and hold your breath, something going taut between you.
"We've been thinking," Hunter began, his voice cautious, as if testing the waters. His hand gently came to rest over your knee, his touch causing you to straighten instinctively, pressing you further into Wreckerâs lap. Until then, you had almost forgotten your position with Wrecker, but his large hand then settled more firmly around your waist.
The dual sensation of their touches sent a shiver through you, a subtle tremble that Wrecker evidently felt too, eliciting a soft, strained noise from him.
âThereâs something weâd like to do for you.â Hunter smiled, his hand sliding north of your knee.
You went stock still, eyes blown wide as Hunter leaned in. You shot a look at Crosshair to find him twirling a toothpick between his fingers with a satisfied smile. Next to him, Tech caught your eyes. Where Hunterâs eyes had stilled you, Techâs thrilled you. You were happy to be seated with Wrecker, because having Techâs full attention made you feel weak.
âWhatâs that?â You asked, voice just above a whisper, as you broke away from Tech to find Hunter still watching you. You heart jumped into your throat when Hunterâs thumb smoothed over your inner thigh.
âHave you ever thought about-â Hunter paused, clearing his throat to cover up his hesitation. Slowly and calmly he started again, âHave you ever thought about spending the night with us?â
âI already-â
âThink a little harder.â Crosshair cut you off with an amused tune. Your eyes snapped to Crosshair and, somehow, the arrogance in his stance filled you in on Hunterâs meaning. Heat flared through you, flushing your face so quickly you knew even your ears were red.Â
On more than one occasion youâd found release lost in the fantasy of being the center of their attention. Every time you witnessed them sans armor you had to manually breathe through professionalism.
Again you looked to Hunter, pulling your bottom lip between your teeth with a slow nod. Hunter dipped his head, hiding the way his smile widened. Barely lifting his head, he chuffed and followed up with, âWould you like to spend tonight with us?âÂ
You were able to swallow the whine in your throat enough to nod another affirmative. Hunter opened his mouth but was interrupted by Tech.
âThat will not suffice.â Both you and Hunter looked to Tech for clarification. Tech adjusted his goggles but shook his head. âIf this is something you want, you will need to agree to what we are asking verbally.â Your legs squeezed together at Techâs stern tone.
You felt Hunterâs gaze shift back to you, but you eyes were trained on Tech. A smile, wobbly and excited, fluttered over your lips. âYes,â Heat pooled between your legs, you squirmed in Wreckerâs lap, and you said. âI want to spend the night the night with you guys.â
Wreckerâs other hand found your side, firming his grip to hold you in place. He laughed through his nerves, âWatch it with that.â
Suddenly, you became very aware of where you were seated in his lap. Pushed back over his knee, just an inch or so from his crotch. If you twisted even the slightest youâd pressed him. With intent, you carefully turned into him to offer a smile. As Wrecker groaned against the pressure of your leg you offered a half-assed apology.Â
Wrecker took one look at you and crashed his lips into yours. A moment of shock hit you before your started moving against him, melting into the feel of his tongue against yours. When Wrecker leaned you back and deepened the kiss, a little needy noise escaped youÂ
It was enough for Crosshair to kick Wreckerâs foot. âEase up.â Crosshair. Wrecker did indeed ease up, breaking the kiss and leaving you dazed and panting in his eyes.
âSorry,â He chuckled, lifting a thumb to wipe your lips dry. âGot a lil excited there.â
All you could manage was a hum as he righted you in his lap. Hunter tilted his head back, his smile turning into a challe, âYou sure wanna do this?â
You answered by sliding from Wreckerâs knee onto his, slipping your arms around his neck, and stopping just as your lips hovered over his. Lightly squeezing his thigh between yours, you said on a breath. âIâll only say it once more. I want this.â Grinding onto him, you added. âBadly.â
Catching his lips in a slow kiss, you moved with his hands as they found your hips and pressed you harder onto his knee. With every brush of your clit against him, an ache, hot and desperate, grew in your core. The sound of shuffling armor only reached you as Hunter tapped your thigh, easing you back into reality. âLetâs get you out of those clothes.â
Eager to continue as quickly as possible, you bounced off of Hunterâs knee to make quick work of your attire. By the time you were down to your underthings they were all down to their blacks in some way. Techâs was still zipped up, Crosshair and Hunter had theirs stripped to the waist, and Wrecker was stepping out of his.Â
Just the sight of them fully dressed was enough to fluster you, finally seeing them bare made you feel downright feral.Â
Wrecker stepped over to you, his already erect cock swaying with him. Your mouth went dry at his size, though it was fitting for a man of his stature. He tilted his head with a grin and gestured for the bunk behind you.
As you sat, you came face to face with his massive member before he dropped to a knee. The idea of taking him first, after not having anyone for a long time, thrilled you as much as it intimidated you. A warm body pressed against your back as a pair of long legs, still dressed in black, appeared on either side of you.
Wrecker hooked his fingers into your panties and pulled them off as Tech, in a low tone, said into your ear, âHeâs going to warm you up.âÂ
The chill his voice sent through you hit at the same time Wreckerâs tongue slid over you. Arching into Tech, you whined as Wrecker picked up a steady pace of long flat licks that ended with covering your clit with his mouth.Â
Tech wormed a hand between your bodies to discard your bra and give him access to your chest. Gloved hands cupped around your breasts, gently tracing the shape of them before rolling your nipples between his fingers.
Your entire body tensed as Tech played with your nipples. From between your legs, Wrecker chuckled as he slid his middle finger into you, âOh, she likes that.â The ache Hunter had ignited grew as Wrecker kissed and sucked on your clit while working his finger into you.
âIs it true that you enjoy this?â Tech asked, applying more pressure as you writhed against him.
âYes,â You barely managed to pant as you quickly reached your peak. âI do, I do, I-â
As you tightened around Wreckerâs finger, he suddenly broke away from you, leaving you empty and at the painful edge of release. âNot yet.â Wrecker left a kiss on your inner thigh as you grabbed to pull him back, only stopped by Tech holding you against him.
âNot yet.â Tech repeated sternly, again stilling you with his voice in your ear.
Wrecker stood as Tech slid out from behind you. Wrecker took his place, positioning you on top of his lap to spread your knees with his. Taking his finger, still wet with you, he traced your slit all the way to your ass. You were starting to tense at the sensation when Wrecker cooed as he slid his finger into you. âDonât worry, I gotcha.â
Spread wide as Wrecker fingered you, Hunter could see how badly you ached to be filled. With each stroke of Wreckerâs finger, you visibly clenched. Hunter finally released the length of him when you pressed a hand over your mouth to restrain a moan.
Crosshair stepped in to pull your hand away, letting the tail end of your noises loose. âThey could hear.â You whined louder than you wanted.
Crosshair held your face in his hand, angling you to face him. With a hand braced on the top bunk, Crosshair leaned down to your eye level. Sucking on a tooth, he smirked as his eyes roamed your writhing form. Meeting your gaze again he gave you a gentle shake as he practically purred, âThen letâs give them something to listen to.â
Heâd distracted you enough that Hunterâs sliding into between your legs startled you. Crosshair released your face when Hunterâs cock made contact with you. You leaned forward for a glimpse of him. His swollen head slid over you until he brushed up passed your clit. Precum leaked from him and slid down to mix with your own wetness. Hunter traced you a few times before he tipped your chin up.Â
Lined up with you, Hunter asked, âReady?â Wrecker buried his finger in you as they both waited for your answer.
âHunter, please.â You quickly whined, bracing your hand on his shoulders, truly desperate to be filled with him.
Hunter leaned in and rolled his hips into you, slowly breaching you until he was completely inside. âYou feel,â Huntered groaned, âSo good.â As he started pulling out, Wrecker timed his fingers with him.Â
Standing within reach of you, Crosshair pulled himself free of his blacks as he watched on. Your attention only pulled away from where you and Hunter were joined when you caught sight of Crosshair stroking himself.
Your noises grew in volume as the Hunter and Wrecker filled you over and over. Only a few strokes in and your toes were already curlling. Feeling your sudden grip, Hunter fully sheathed himself in you as Wrecker left you empty.
âYou good?â Hunter asked in a strained voice as he throbbed within you.
You nodded, a blissful smile flashing over you. âReally good.âÂ
Beneath you, Wrecker squirmed to reposition himself, even raising you out of his way as he did. You heard Wrecker spit but couldnât tell what on. Hunter pulled you against him for support as Wrecker pressed up against your ass and slid over its entrance. You tried to whip around but Hunter held you firm.Â
Pressing a kiss into your neck, Hunter mumbled, âTell us to stop and we will.â
While Wrecker waited, throbbing against you, Hunter lightly rocked his hips, moving just enough to rub into your cervix. You watched Crosshairâs head angle to get a view of your ass, then your heaving chest, before settling back on your eyes. He continued stroking himself, smirk growing as a needy expression flooded you.Â
You swallowed hard when precum spilled out of Crosshairâs cock. âKeep going.â You moaned, granting Wrecker the permission to pull you down onto him. Your body went taught when the flare of his glans pushed past your threshold. Inhaling, you whined and waited for more of Wrecker.
You only waited a second longer before you were grinding yourself over him, not only taking more of Wrecker but grinding farther onto Hunter. âThatâs a good girl.â Wrecker sighed happily as he leaned back on one hand and supported your ass as you moved over him.Â
The two of them had you completely filled, stretching you in a way that made you see stars. You knew youâd never be the same after feeling this. Hunter angled your hips enough that each thrust pushed into your G-spot. Each of their thrusts had you whimpering louder as you felt the ache in your core tighten.
Giving your ass cheek a firm grasp, Wreckerâs head fall back in ecstacy. It took everything in him to not move faster and push harder into you. He wanted to feel you make you come completely undone around him, break apart for him even, but he sat back and let you pleasure yourself on him.
Eyes still on Crosshair, you extended an open hand to him, urging him closer. The sniper snorted but obliged you, giving you full access to his body. Resting back on Wrecker, you let Hunter take over the rhythm as you pulled Crosshair closer.Â
Swiping a thumb over Crosshairâs slit, his precum spilled over you. Crosshair ran a hand over your hair and around to your jawline. âOf course thatâs not enough for you,â Crosshair mused. His cock, thick in your hand, had a small patch of silver hair at its base you brushed as you pumped your hand over him.
Each deliberate move of your hand challenged Crosshairâs composure. He clenched his jaw to hide the pleasure he felt. His resolve cracked as his eyes fluttered and he leaned in to your grasp.
The rare sight of Crosshairâs softened features made you whimper and writhe in Hunterâs hold. Your tightening grip rushed Hunter to his limit. He rested his forehead in the crook of your neck. âMeshâla, keep doing that and I wonât last much longer.âÂ
Allowing himself a few shallow thrusts, Wrecker groaned, âIâm right there too.â Heâd barely gotten the words out when Wrecker groaned loudly, pumping hard into you as he throbbed and lost control.
Hunter picked up his pace until he quickly pulled out and, a second later, coated you in cum. His hips kept rocking against you, rubbing over your clit and fueling the ache in your core. âRight there, right there.â You encouraged him as he kept moving over you until completely emptied himself.Â
With Wrecker still throbbing inside you, paired with the sudden pressure on your clit, your orgasm hit you hard. It wracked your body until your legs quivered. Fucked into an euphoric state, you leaned towards Crosshair, still aching for pleasure. Youâd never dreamt this would be a reality and you were quickly becoming greedy.Â
âEasy now,â Wrecker murmured and, as gently as he could, eased out of you. Without him and Hunter, you felt emptier than ever before.Â
Hunter scooted back enough to sit back on his knees, panting and pushing his hair back out of his face. He watched as Wrecker pressed a kiss to your shoulder and helped you crawl over his legs to face Crosshair.
Prying your mouth open with a thumb, Crosshair hummed down to you, âIf you want a taste, you better do it quickly.â A chill ran down your spine as Crosshair pulled you by your mouth, guiding you to the tip of his cock.Â
You stuck your tongue out to swirl around his head. He hissed as you eagerly took him into your mouth, bobbing over him and swiping your tongue side to side as you did. As promised, Crosshair only allowed you a small taste of him before pulling you off him.
He knelt to your eye level, crouching on the balls of his feet, to ask, âDo you want more?âÂ
Your brows pulled together and a lazy smile lifted your lips. âI want you, Crosshair.â
Crosshair stilled for a moment, something striking a chord in him. His eyes quickly scanned yours before he caught your lips in a fast, hurried kiss. He broke the kiss just enough to murmur against your lips, âOn your knees.â
The sniper helped you to your feet and got you onto the neighboring bunk. He guided you onto your hands and knees, facing his brothers. There was no teasing nor dragging out the moment. No, Crosshair immediately lined himself up with you, leaned over to cage you in his arms, and whispered, âIâve wanted to do this for a long time.âÂ
In one smooth thrust, Crosshair buried himself inside of you, immediately taking up a steady pace as he fucked you into the bunk. Crosshair draped himself over you, sneaking a hand around you and right to the apex of your thighs.Â
âIncoming.â Tech chimed from across the room.Â
Crosshair held you in place as the barracks door swooshed open and Echo walked in. A drop of panic hit your stomach when Echoâs sweeping look found you. Confused, horror overtook the cyborg and as he hurried over.
Nearly stumbling over Hunter, still regaining his composure on the floor, Echo ripped around to you. âCrosshair, what do you think you are doing?!â
Crosshair pushed off of you, straightening to posture over you and face Echo. Using your hips as leverage, Crosshair slowed his pace and confidently answered, âWhatever what she wants.â
Echoâs expression went stunned as he knelt in front of you. Slightly dazed, flushed, and cum covered, you tucked your face into the mattress in a rush of embarrassment. Still, you whined each time Crosshairâs hips hit yours.Â
Echo reached a concerned hand out, encouraging you to lift yourself again. His eyes searched yours, but you were too far gone to do anything but reach for the man in front of you. You ran your hand as far down Echoâs torso as you could and turned to press a kiss into his palm. âEcho.â His name came out on a moan that brought heat to his cheeks.Â
âLooks like there is something else she wants.â Crosshair chuckled behind you. He leaned back over you, bringing his mouth to your ear but holding Echoâs stare. âWhy donât you tell Echo what you want?â
You could barely think through Crosshairâs relentless thrusting and the rhythm of his fingers. âEcho.â His eyes slid to you to catch you kissing his hand again. âI want to taste you.â Licking the length of his hand, you wrapped your mouth around his forefinger.
Echo had been growing hard from the moment he saw your bare skin until the softness of your mouth got him instantly hard. Glancing between you, Echo kept an eye on the hand still reaching for him and slowly brought his hips to meet your touch.
As you pried off his codpiece with one hand, Echo assisted in pulling himself out of his underlayer.Â
You pulled Echo by his thigh so that he overshadowed your face. Starting at his base, where his balls met his shaft, you flattened your tongue and ran it up the length of him. Reaching his tip, you steadied him with your hand.Â
Echo mumbled under a grunt as you moved your mouth over him, âOh, stars.âÂ
The taste of Echo narrowed your focus on him, seeking to hear his pleasure. When Crosshair heard your own muffled moans, felt them with his chest against your back, he lifted off you. He traced a finger down your spine, feeling you arch into his touch as he went.
Echo was still adjusting to the reality heâd walked into when you started working your hand in tandom with your mouth. His hand flew to your head, his fingers threading into your hair. He couldnât help himself as he kept his hand firm and met your rhythm with his own. You slackened into him as he pushed against the back of your throat.
The way you twitched around Crosshair, pulled a moan from him. Sensing your little struggle as you tried to take more of Echo, Crosshair again reached for your clit. âRelax.â He whispered as his hand made lazy circles around you.
Sliding off of Echo you swallowed and looked up to find him watching you with wide eyes and mouth slightly open. You didnât look away as you opened wider and took him into your mouth. With a deep breath you relaxed as best you could and pushed him to the back of your throat. Moaning around him you pressed on until you felt him squeeze down your throat.
A moan, breathless and low, finally escaped Echo and he held you fast against him. The sounds youâd worked so hard for twisted that familiar ache in your core. Your eyes watered against the pressure as his cock twitched in your throat. You tasted him spilling inside you as he came undone.Â
Crosshair grunted, shuddering as you clenched down on him. Unwilling to finish before you did, Crosshair focused his touch on your clit into light, fast strokes.
You tapped Echo repeatedly until he pulled his softening cock out of you. Gasping for air your fell onto your elbows, head hanging over the side of the bunk. Face down, ass up you sounded on the verge of tears as you warbled, âCross, I canât. Iâm gonna-â
His thrusts become long, slow, and angled right into the soft spot inside you. âGo on then.â Crosshair urged you on. âWe all want to hear you.â
The low tone of his voice finished you. Your eyes rolled back and you cried out as you lost yourself in Crosshairâs hold. He continued pushing you through your release as long as he could until Crosshair had to pull out. Gripping your hips tight, he thrust one final time against you and sent ropes of his cum down your back. In the throws of his own pleasure, his groans matched yours in volume.
It took a few moments for your both to settle back into the present. Your legs were so weak that you were at Crosshairâs mercy to keep you upright. He felt you relax and sag into his him, prompting him to gently lay you to rest on your side. He brushed your hair out of your face, letting you look up at him without moving your head.
He watched you pant a second longer, swallowed and asked, âYou okay?â
A little smile came to you. You coughed out an affirmative hum, and warmly croaked, âMore than okay.â
Echo came around to your side, looking over you with concern. âWhat can we do?â
âRelax.â Hunter, already half dressed, came behind Echo and gestured casually towards another area. âTechâs on it.â His gaze softened as he smiled down at you over Echoâs shoulder. âYou really are something.â
His praise sent a wave of warmth through you, though you could only muster a pleasant hum in response, your energy still recovering.
âTechâs gonna help you get cleaned up. That okay with you?â Hunter waved someone, presumably Tech, over.Â
Taking a deep breath, you raised onto your elbow. Tech was indeed inbound carrying some supplies and still full dressed. Suddenly you felt as bare as you were. You couldnât look away, but gave Hunter the nod he and Crosshair needed to step away.
âCâmon boys, letâs give her some privacy.â
Echo looked you over once more, nodded and followed his brothers lead.
Soon it was just you and Tech in the quiet. For most of what happened, youâd lost track of Tech. Who had, by the looks of it, had steered completely clear of the scene.
Tech settled down next to you, placing a stack of necessities beside your headâclothes, towels, all topped with a bowl of water. You pushed yourself up to a sitting position with one hand, inspecting the items he had brought. âThank you,â you mumbled shyly, the simple kindness in his preparation bringing some softness you very much needed.
âSit up.â Tech instructed as he brought the water closer. You followed his order, positioning yourself with your back slightly turned. Looking over your shoulder, you watched Tech dip a small towl in the water before bringing it to your shoulder.
The towel was cool against your flushed skin. Jumping you said through a chill, âThatâs cold, Tech.â
âYou do not want warm water for this.â Tech said matter-of-factly. âHeat will denature the proteins in the se-â
âOh! I didnât know that.â You said quickly, cutting him off while also doing terrible job at covering your embarassment.
Tech rotated between wiping your back and ringing out the towel. When silence again fell over you, Tech asked softly. âAre you in any pain?â
You thought for a moment, doing a mental sweep of your body, and replied, âNo, Iâm okay.â You squeezed your eyes shut hearing yourself stuttering your words.
Tech immediately questioned you again, âAre you having regrets?â
You flinched to turn around, but kept your back to him. âNo.â You replied softly. It went quiet again as Tech did a final swipe of your back.
âNow turn around.â Tech swapped out the towel for a fresh one as you slowly turned to face him.Â
Again, Tech dampened the cloth and brought it to your skin, the cool touch hitching your breath. As his hands carefully wiped your skin, he observed your slow, controlled breathing. His eyes darted to yours.Â
âYou are uncharacteristically silent.â Tech noted bluntly with no follow up theory as to why.
Shoving your nerves to a manageable level, you blurted out, âWhy didnât you join?â
Techâs hand stilled, but he kept your gaze for a beat. Moving to dampen the towel, he followed it with his eyes. He shrugged, saying, âNot really my thing.â
Your stomach dropped at his simple dismissal. Under your breath you said, âOh.âÂ
You kept watching Tech as he brought the towel back to your chest. When it came time to wipe your breast, Tech found your gaze again. He flattened his hand under the cloth and ran his whole hand over your breast, his thumb catching on your nipple.
A brazen surg hit you and you pushed, âSo, Iâm not really your thing?â
Tech pulled back slightly with his hand wiping you. Raising a brow he asked cautiously, âMy thing?â
Despite slightly regretting your line of questioning, your fingers fidgeted together as you clarified, âAs in, youâre not interested in being with me.â
His wariness faded as he focused back on his work, again rinsing the towel. âThat⌠is not entirely accurate.â He lowered the towel down between your breasts to your stomach. He wore a cocky smile as he said, âBesides, something such as after care requires a more delicate touch.â
You caught his hand before he made it to your navel. âThen what would be entirely accurate?â
Tech looked up through his goggles, his lip pulling to the side as he weighed what to say next. He wanted to make sure he was indeed being entirely accurate as he confessed, âIâm not interested in being with you in the company of others.â
His insinuation caught you off guard. Sitting a little more upright, your angled your head for a better view of those brown eyes. âSo⌠you do want me?â
Techâs head sagged slightly as he deadpanned. âWell, of course I do.â In your surprise, you released Techâs hand and allowed him to finish wiping you down.
Steeling yourself against the warmth following his touch, you prodded further, âWhat if it was just you and I?â
Missing the subtlety behind you question, Tech simply replied, âThat would be different for me.â
âItâs just you and I now, Tech,â You reminded him, voice barely above a whisper.
He was mid rinse when he heard you. The thought caused him to pause only for a moment before he wrung the towel out and turned back to you. Tech didnât move to touch you. Instead, he muttered, âI did consider that, but I was not certain such an arrangment would interest you.â
Unable to let the chance pass, you grabbed Techâs wrist again and flat out admitting, âIt very much interests me.â
His attention fell to your hold on him for a moment. Gently he pulled out of your hand, moving the cool towel between your legs. Leaning closer as the fabric met your skin, Tech asked, âDoes it interest you right now?â
âWell, of course it does.â You repeated his words in an impression of him. He hadnât anticipated the sudden playfulness in your voice, but it brought a small smile to Tech.
Carefully, he wiped you clean, noting the movement in your face as he found every sensitive bit. When he was satisifed with his work, Tech set all the items he brought on the floor. He sat in front of you, one leg over the side of the bunk, and adjusted his goggles as he took in the full view of you. âYou are beautiful," He marveled.
You got to your knees and scooted closer. With bated breath you asked what you've wanted to for weeks, âCan I kiss you?â
Tech blinked once, then twice before responding, âGiven the circumstances, that wouldnât be unwarranted.â There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice that forced a smile from you.
Your reaction pulled a mirrored smile from Tech that had crawling into his lap. With no restraint, you moved in to kiss him. Pecking him with feverish kisses, Tech quickly relaxed into your rhythm to deepen the sensation. It seemed he'd been waiting just as long as you.
His hands slid around to your back and tugged you against him. You held Techâs face in your hands and ran your tongue across his bottom lip. It took little coaxing for Tech to give you access to his mouth, eagerly meeting your tongue with his.
You sat intertwined, blissfully lost in the taste of each other and comfortable in each otherâs hold. Tech hardened beneath you and the angle your were sat on Tech had your crotch directly against his. The realization hit you both at the same time as started moving against one another.
The friction of his blacks made the pressure between your legs that much more mind numbing. Moaning into your kiss, you retreated a fraction with Tech chasing your lips. âGet out of this.â You managed to say.
Tech straightened himself while keeping you in his lap and his mouth on yours. Without breaking away from you, he peeled out of his blacks. Only when he couldnât budge them farther did Tech pull away. You both were desperate for air, but more desperate for each other.
Dodging Techâs hands, you helped him the rest of the way out of the clothing and hurried back into his lap. Tech leaned back against the bed post when you were saddled on top of him. With Techâs assistance you raised yourself over him. The natural curve of his cock allowed you to line up with him without your hands.Â
You tried to lower yourself, but Techâs hand on your ass held you in place. âMay I record this?â
Without question you nodded. After he tapped the side of his goggles, he returned your nod and released his hold on you.Â
As soon as he eased up you sunk onto him. The sudden fullness of him immediately brightening your smile. Tech firmed his grip on your back, pulling you and your clit against his abdomen. âIâd like you to start slow.â
You gave in to his request, supporting yourself on his shoulders as you patiently rolled your hips. He had you pressed against him in a way that constantly stimulated you, sending more warmth between your legs. When he felt what it did to you, heard his name on your tongue, he started moving beneath you, saying almost in warning, âIâm going to move faster.â
Tech was stronger than you'd imagined, effortlessly sliding you over him and thrusting into you from below. The pace at which you moved against each other, completely intertwined, quickly sent you into delirium. He pressed against you in every way, against the walls of your pussy and the ache in your clit. By the grip you had on Tech, there was no hiding your rising ecstasy.
âThat-â Tech grunted out, leaning you further so you were completely against him. âMust feel good.â His tone was confident, arrogant even and it made you want to fuck him until he couldnât speak.
Still, your new position gave Tech the leverage he needed to find your G-spot. As he grazed it, you cried out his name, encouraging him to maintain that specific angle. âTech! Keep going right there, please.â Your encouragement ended in pleading.
Doing exactly as you asked, Tech held you in place and drilled into you. Keeping a careful, steady rhythm that in moments took you right to the edge of an orgasm and shoved you right over.
You couldnât speak as you shook in Techâs arms. Every inch of you quaked as a softer wave of heat spread through you. Lolling against Tech, he held you close and he rocked you both forward.
Still seated inside you, Tech rested you onto your back with your legs hooked behind him. Turning your cheek with a kiss, Tech exposed your neck. He pumped into you while he trailed kisses to your ear.
âThis is the only way Iâll have you.â Tech purred into your ear. You locked your ankles and pulled Tech deeper inside you. Tech noticably throbbed and chuckled softly, âThat is not going to help me last.â
You used your legs as leverage to move over him, humming, âGood, I donât want you to.â
Tech pulled back to flash you smirk. âIn that caseâŚâ He rested a elbow by your head, held you by your waist and pulled out to thrust back into you. âIâm already close. You need to tell me where you want me.â
Feeling him deep inside you made it an easy decision. You pressed him with another kiss as you said, âInside.â
Tech rocked hard into you, thoroughly filling you as he came inside you. The two of you settled into each other, spent and panting through mutual trembling.Â
âWell,â Tech took a deep breath and pushed up over you. âLetâs get cleaned up.â
After all the heat died down and you were all in fresh clothes, you laid out on your cot with an arm over your eyes. In their respective cots, Crosshair and Echo lounged on the edge of sleep while Wrecker and Hunter and Tech were quietly chatting.
Before the night ended you had one last relentless question.
Popping up on an elbow, you looked towars the still awake men. âHunter?â You singled out the leader. Once you caught his eye you asked, âWhat caused all that?â The silence that fell pulled a suspicious smile from you.
With his back to you, Crosshair snorted, broadening your smile. You laughed and asked again, âWhat?âÂ
Wrecker groaned, rolling his head back. âIt was the regs.â
Echo immediately perked up, twisting to exchange a look with you. âWhat about them?â Echo asked warily.
Hunter sighed, âJesse told us about how they used toâŚâ He took a deep breath and rolled his hand as he continued, âMake you happy, letâs say.â
âAnd Echo knew.â Wrecker grumbled.
âWait-â You and Echo tried interjecting, but Tech cut in.
âNot to mention you said how you wouldnât get any sleep with them.â
When the dots connected for you, you covered your mouth, hung open, with a hand but couldnât back the laugh that bubbled out of you.Â
From his cot, Echo covered his face with a groan, âOh, no.â
Even Crosshair now sat up, exchanging confused looks with Tech, Wrecker, and Hunter.
Crosshair glanced at you and with an annoyed undertone he asked, âWhat?â He clearly did not like being on the outside of whatever you and Echo knew.
You shook your head and couldnât fully answer through your laughter. âI neverâŚâ
Echo waved his prosthetic in the direction of the wall shared with the 501st. âWe never did any of that. Jesse was just getting under your skin.â He groaned again, looking upwards and begging the Force for help. Gesturing in your direction he added, âAnd we wouldnât get any sleep because theyâd never stop yapping.â
You took deep breaths to settle down as Crosshair started chuckling.Â
âIn retrospect, that is the more plausible option.â Tech said, shocked Jesse got the better of him.Â
Collapsing on your bunk, you called out warmly, âFor the record, I am much happier as a part of this squad.â
Crosshair got the last word in, scoffing the last of his humor away, âBetter be.â

If somehow⌠Cody found Obi-Wan after he escaped the Empire set during The Bad Batch:
Obi-Wan recognized the sunburst paint before the trooper dropped his blaster, wrong color though it was. Obi-Wan couldnât let go of his own blaster â too many memories of canon fire, blasters and falling, falling falling
Then Cody is right there, grabbing his wrist, pulling him in. And sure, Obi-Wan could push back, use the Force, escape⌠but distraught brown eyes have him pinned.
âObi-Wan.â Shaky, broken voice he knows so well. âItâs me. Itâs Cody. PleaseâŚâ
And thus, Obi-Wan is lost⌠a trembling shell of the man he once was. Unable and unwilling to fight back.
Heâs Codyâs now. Always was.
A breath. Then another. And⌠âCody?â

Link to the translated Q&A Vivinos and Qmeng had recently.
....Guess that means it'll be very long (hopefully) and very good? honestly just scared for what round 7 will bring, it's probably gonna be the last round in the series, and with all the tension buildup this'll be stressful i assume
Yeah, Luka was set to be a popular figure from the jump, there was no way his trick with the Sua imitation was more than just a power trip (Or just a genuine mental break on Mizi's part). because either way with the way Mizi was holding herself up during round 5, she stood 0 chance against him.
Luka, just like the others doesn't actually have real control over his position in Alien stage. So in order to set that boundary for himself and others he uses his presence and the stage because, in any other context, he is simply just a tool and a frail (old) man. (And he has in-universe stans how beautiful)
More Luka lore please vivinos....
Kinda glad this got changed, because imagine this cute guy gradually turning into the Ivan we know now and then doing the shit he did in round 6? then doing the dream face reveal showing that he never truly changed, he just had a mask on. that shit would be 10x more devastating (even though the way it is now is just as devastating) Ivan and Luka twins (scary stuff but quite intriguing, even now they're still quite similar in some ways)
Augh...it is true though. Aliens and humans are just far to vast in traits to relate to each other on such a level, this reminds me of Mizi and Guardian Shine. Guardian Shine might've been the only guardian shown in the alien stage cast to actually be kind. She even seemed to be crying when she had to send Mizi away to go to Anakt(?). I find it kinda sweet though, that the ones who do actually care really show it and try even if they can't understand their pets that well.
But I also like the more grim side to it, because when you don't understand something specifically another being in this case you're less likely to have sympathy for it. Humans and Aliens don't have any relatable traits so whatever these aliens do to the humans whether for self-pleasure or such. And lab-mice? that confirms lab-rat theory. Alien stage crew were all just succesful experiments and the bad batch are kept behind for further testing i theorize. but its still pretty vague so we'll see. hopefully things get more grim ((
......What are you hiding Vivinos. (she rlly said do your homework....okay mum...i will catch you...)
A story about the death of close loved ones and how that can affect characters who are alive in the long run. im gonna throw up.
(NOT AGAIN WITH THE DEAD WIFE PARALLEL MIZI IS NOT HIS WIFE-)
"Ivan is the perfect man" đ I love the details of round 6 clothing so much, even I got that superior or dominating aura from Ivan when I first saw him in round 6 (đ) there wasn't really much to his outfit but the way he carried himself in it kinda just gave off that idea that he's the one in control here. but gradually, we can see that facade fade as he got more into his feelings the more he sang and sunk down to a level where he was most natural. eugh.....

Gentle Sex - Fireball x FReader - NSFW
Summary: Fireball returns back to you but he's not quite the same. Something has happened and he just wants to be as close to you as possible.
Characters: Fireball (The Bad Batch)
Pairing: Fireball x F!Reader
Word Count: 4,153
Warnings: angst, hurt/comfort, soft sex, riding, fingering, PinV sex, fluff and smut, they're both saps for each other.
Author's Note: This is set during TBB season 3, and Fireball lived god damn it because I am still hurt over him. It got really emotional really quickly. Again, another story that kind of ran away with itself.
The apartment was covered in a complete darkness, barely any light peeking through the windows. The barest hint of moonlight highlighted the empty living room as Fireball let himself in. He felt weighed down, armour getting heavier with every shaky breath he let out as he locked the door behind him. Every bone and muscle in his body ached as he fell back against the wall. Today had been one of the worst days of his life. The Empire had found them, and they had only just managed to escape by the skin of their teeth. He could still feel the heat flash against his skin before he was thrown back. He could have died. Could have marched on and nobody would have been the wiser about the fate of the clones.
Letting out a heavy sigh, he pushed himself up and began the exhausting task of taking his armour off and stacking it next to the door. As he was unhooking his belt, his fingers stilled on the holsters of his blaster. No. He wouldnât be leaving that with the rest of his armour. Not tonight. Placing it to one side, he made the instinctual moves he needed to be finally free from the plastoid.
Fireball headed to the windows, then the back door and finally the front door again, triple checking the locks and that they were secure. It was something that he always reminded his cyare about whenever he was off planet for a while. He wanted to make sure his riddur was safe while he was on base and she had to return home to work and her other responsibilities. Before he could even blink a flash went off behind his eyes and he groaned, shoulder twinging after the hit it had received. Reaching up to rub the flash away, he knew it wasnât real. Just like the crack and shifting of rock that sounded like it was coming from all around him.
Taking a deep breath, he looked around the room he was in, seeing the flowers in the vase you had left on the table, hear the buzzing of the conservator in the kitchen and the smell of the soap you used as you washed your clothes. It helped settle his nerves and he dragged his hands down his face.
To think he was about to ask you to stay on the rebel base permanently with him. He was glad that you were far away from Teth. That you hadnât been there visiting when the Empire had caught up to them. He could still feel the stickiness of the bacta on his shoulder, glad that the shadow clone had missed by an inch or so otherwise heâd been marching on. And you wouldnât know anything about it until it was safe enough for Rex to turn up at your door and tell you. Maybe not even then. It was dangerous to contact others, the Empire constantly monitoring communication systems. Rex would have to tell you over comms or a message about his death. He couldnât imagine you finding out like that.
He needed to find you now, to feel you in his arms and hold you close to him. To know that you were real and that he was alive. That this time you had been lucky.
Heading to the quarters at the back of the apartment, Fireball let himself in and finally felt more relaxed than he had for hours. Seeing you safe and sound was a balm to his frayed nerves. You were fast asleep, not a care in the world. Unable to help it, he ran his fingers through your hair before he stripped off his blacks. He wanted to get in beside you, feel your warmth against him and hear the soft breaths you let out, imagining how they would feel against his exposed tanned skin.
âFire?â a voice groaned, and he grimaced at waking you up.
âGo back to sleep cyareâ he whispered, sliding in beside you and wrapping his arms around your middle, pulling you back to him.
âSleep? No! Missed youâ you murmured, still half asleep as you turned in his arms to face him. You nuzzled in closer, pressing a kiss to the bottom of his neck and letting out a contented sigh. It felt amazing to have Fireball back home. Even if he had sneaked into your apartment and didnât announce his visit. It was such a wonderful surprise to have him here.
Fireball sighed, closing his eyes as he held you close to him, not willing to let you go just yet. Having you here in his arms was overwhelming. To think that this could have all been taken away from him so easily, to have your love and then for it to be so easily ripped away.
âMissed you tooâ he mumbled, burying his face into your hair, his breathing shaky as he took you in. The scent of your shampoo, the feel of your soft skin against his, the warmth you radiated after being so wrapped up in your blanket, the soft sounds of your sleep addled brain coming out of your mouth as you began to wake up. âSo much, cyareâ he admitted, closing his eyes and holding you even tighter.
âFireâ you grumbled, pushing against his hold slightly so you could breathe a little easier. âYou okay?â you asked, feeling the slight tremble in his hands as he held you closer to him.
Instead of answering, Fireball rolled you over so you were on your back, settling above you as he let his weight press you into the mattress. Running a hand from your hip all the way up your sides, tracing the curves of your breast and up your throat to cup your cheek, he couldnât help but let out a little huff of air at having you underneath him. Not wasting time on words, he lowered his lips to yours, gently prying them apart so he could slip in his tongue, exploring your mouth and letting out quiet moans at reuniting with you once again.
You couldnât help but melt into his kiss, running a hand up his back to run your fingers through his dark hair. You tugged on the strands, leaving a little nip on his bottom lip as you did so, expecting his playful swipe of tongue against your own. Instead, you felt him caress your cheek, your jaw and just feel you.
Something was wrong, this was not how his normal returns would go. Most times, he could barely wait to get through the doors before he was on you, pressing you against him and tugging off your clothes as soon as he could. Whispering filth in your ear about how he had missed you and what he was going to do to you to make up for all those lonely nights without each other. Would complain how he only had his brothers for company when you werenât there, how heâd have to listen to their idiocy while he thought about you.
This, however, was not that. Was nowhere close to what you would have expected from Fireball and his playful and teasing personality. This was more contradictory; gentle, yet tense at the same time. He was acting strange. Something must have happened to make him act like this. You wondered if it was his brothers, if the rebellion had been crushed before it began. As you went to push him away, he groaned and shook his head before returning his lips to yours, laying gentle kisses all up and down your jaw. Again, too slow. Not like he normally did, and definitely not like when he wanted to take him time and make you squirm.
âLet me kiss youâ he whispered, nuzzling his nose with yours as you felt something hard brush against your thigh. Letting out a little sigh, he took in a deep breath, almost like he was trying to soak you in. âWant you like thisâ he told you, running a hand down to tug the neckline of your sleepwear down.
âWhy are you being so gentle with me? I like it when youâre roughâ you frowned, pulling away enough to get your words out and to cup his face, to try and get him to look at you. But all he seemed incapable of doing anything but hold you close, not willing to let you get away from him.
âJust let me have this, please cyarâika. I need to feel you tonight, need to hold you close to meâ Fireball murmurs, kissing gently down your neck and to your chest. He whines, still not close enough to you for his liking. Pulling away, he climbs up your bed until he sits against the headboard.
Thereâs so much sadness in his eyes, youâre about to ask him if he wants to stop before large, warm, calloused hands are gripping you and tugging you onto his lap. Youâre straddling his lap, his cock pressing against your core as you run a gentle hand through his greying hair, the lighter strands mixing with his dark ones effortlessly. âWe can stop this if you want? We donât have to do this. We can just hold each otherâ you suggested softly, watching how he almost melted into your touch. Whatever Fireball needed at the moment, you would provide that for him. Be it a gentle touch, some loving words or the feel of your bodies moving against each other. Whatever he needed, you wanted him to feel comfortable and relaxed.
However, at your words, Fireball shuddered and tensed up, wrapping an arm around your waist and another round your back and pulling you closer. âNo, please! I need you, cyare. Just like thisâ he begs, hand gliding up into your hair before he pulls you down for a kiss. Itâs soft and gentle and desperate all at the same time, the way he holds your head in his large hand, the way his lips move against your own and the way his tongue asks for entrance into your mouth makes your heart ache with love.
Nodding, you canât help but to give in to him. Whatever it was had shaken Fireball enough for him to act like this, he was obviously too distressed to talk about it. So if he needed you like this, you would be there to hold him against you and provide the comfort and safety he needed at this time. You pulled away, reaching for the hem of your shirt. âGonna take this off, okay?â you breathed, resting your forehead together against his. Fireball let out a shuddering breath, pressing his head into yours before helping you to pull off your shirt. You were thankful to have forgone your usual bottoms, instead going to bed in just your panties.
âSo beautifulâ he let out, voice full of awe and appreciation as he took in the sight of your heaving chest, your breasts bouncing slightly at the momentum. He lifted a hand to them, feeling the weight of them in his hands before pressing gentle kisses to each one before taking a nipple into his mouth.
You groaned, unable to help it as your hips rocked against his. The feeling of his hot mouth against your chest had your eyes slipping closed, hands coming to run through his hair and holding him closer to you. âYes, youâre so good at that, riddur. Make me feel so specialâ you praised him, knowing how much he enjoyed listening to how he made you feel.
âYouâre special⌠always come back to you⌠ner karâta, ner cyareâ he whispered back to you, mouth barely lifting from your chest.
You could feel the vibration of his words echo in your chest and across your skin. Tugging him up by the back of his neck, you pressed an urgent kiss to his lips, trying to encourage him to move a little faster. You loved whenever he spoke Mandoâa to you, the language making his voice drop lower and roughen up his words so that they felt like caresses against your sensitive skin.
âFireballâ you gasped, trailing your hands down his broad chest, your hands found the small wound that looked recent. Very, very recent if the residue of bacta had anything to say about it. Instantly you pulled away, scowling down at the mark on your trooperâs shoulder. He had been hurt. The thought made dread settle in your stomach at the sight. âYouâre hurt! We shouldnât be doing thisâ you protested, gently running your fingertips over the red and raised skin.
âIâm fine. Iâm fine, not hurting at all. Iâm here meshâla, I promise. I just need you, need to feel you against me right now. Pleaseâ he begged, shaking his head and pulling you down onto his hardened cock. He squeezed your hips, sending you a small smile in reassurance before he began sucking a mark underneath your breast. You just know the bruise would be something for you to remember him by when he returned to the clone rebellion.
Letting him pull you back down against him, sinking into that head space as you began to rock against him, teasing you both at the friction.
âCan I take these off?â he asked, biting his lip as his fingers tucked underneath the hem of your panties. You could feel his calloused fingertips brushing against your skin, squeezing slightly before running soothingly across your hips, never daring to venture lower like you wanted him too.
âOf course!â you consented, helping to raise yourself up and aid him in taking off your underwear. He slipped them under your knees, carefully pulling them down your legs until they were off and he threw them somewhere in your bedroom. You didnât care as long as he was touching you.
âNever leaving you, cyarâikaâ he vowed before his face turned into a grimace and he shook his head. As you opened your mouth to check in with him once more, he gripped the back of your neck and pulled you into a kiss, his other hand venturing down to your wet core. Words were forgotten as you felt yourself get lost in him. The feel of him against you, the dark hair on his chest tickling yours, his strong thighs beneath you spreading you open for him. As he trailed his fingers between your folds, gathering your wetness, you couldnât help but whimper at the touch of him. It had been so long since he was here with you, since you could properly take care of each other without the use of toys and a temperamental comm line. âYouâre so wet for me pretty girlâ he moaned in appreciation before rubbing at your clit with his thumb.
Your hips jumped up at touch, seeking out more pleasure from him. âFireball, please, I need moreâ you insisted, tired of his careful caresses of your labia. You wanted to feel him. Feel his long, talented fingers slide inside of you, prepare you for him after being so long away from each other.
âAnythingâ he promised, licking a stripe from your neck and up your throat, stopping at the spot just under your ear where he devoted all his attention into giving you gentle kisses and leaving a mark there for all to see.
With that, he gently and slowly pressed one finger into you, and you sighed, sinking onto him. âThatâs it, Fire! Maker, just there!â you gasped, reaching down to guide his hand into a better position so you could rock your hips against his hand.
He hummed against the skin of your neck, one of his hands gripping your hips to guide your movements against him. With his help, you managed to find a good rhythm as you ducked yourself open on his finger, letting out a loud moan as Fireball pressed another finger inside of you, pressing deep and crooking them to find that spot inside of you.
It took him a couple of tries but you could feel yourself tighten around him as he continued to play that bundle of nerves inside of you, strumming away as though he was trying to match a beat in his head. You clutched at him, grounding against his hand to try and seek your pleasure, to feel the heat wash over you as you sought your release.
âGood girl, youâre so beautiful like this. So perfectâ Fireball smiled, spreading kisses all over the swell of your breasts. He closed his eyes, listening to your sounds of pleasure and ecstasy as he pushed you closer and closer to the edge. He needed to prepare you for him as well as make sure that whatever happens, you would remember nights like these with him.
When he was sure you were prepared for his cock, he pulled his fingers away, mouth seeking yours as he continued to rub his desperate cock against you slightly before stilling. âNeed you, meshâlaâ he reiterated, guiding you over his cock and gently holding you as you sunk down onto his length.
âIâm here Fireball, I promise, Iâm not leaving youâ you assured, stroking his cheek before wrapping yourself tight around him, knowing and feeling like he needed that close connection tonight. To feel how close the two of you were, with nothing in between you but the love, respect and care you had for each other.
Taking great care, you began to bounce back onto his cock just as he thrust up into you, both of you letting out loud moans of pleasure as you felt his length fill you and you squeezed down around his cock. Pushing a few strands of hair away from his sweaty forehead, you both rocked against each other, barely pulling off from his cock. You didnât want to be too far away from him.
Gasping and panting heavily, Fireball took one of your hardened buds into his mouth, running his tongue around the nipple before he sucked on it softly as he tugged you even closer to him. He couldnât get enough of you, wanted to savour this moment for as long as he lived. The feel of your body pressed against his, both of you climbing and chasing that pleasure that only the other could give. He couldnât help but let out a quiet high sound as he felt your walls ripple around him.
âSo beautifulâ he breathed, hips thrusting up into you as he held you still, hands gripping tightly onto your hips. He swallowed your whine, sliding his hands around your body and up and down your back, determined to not let there be any space in between you. You were intoxicating to him, he could never get enough of you.
âFire!â you hissed, dropping your head onto his shoulder as a hand slipped above where you were connected, finding the bundle of nerves that was swollen against his touch.
âPlease, meshâla. Please cum around me, I need to feel you soak my cock.â
Shaking your head, you brought your face up to his, taking in the desperate and loving look that he was sending your way. âCum with me, I know youâre closeâ you whispered, pressing your lips against his as you thrust your hips back down to him.
Fireball couldnât help but sob as he felt you tighten and clench around him. You cried out his name, digging your nails into his back as your walls shook and you felt your release wash over you. His cock throbbed inside of you, shooting ropes of cum inside of you. He held you close, both of you shuddering through your intense orgasm.
Without needing to be asked, you held him against your chest as he sobbed, tears flowing down his cheeks. Pressing gentle and tender kisses against the crown of his head, you couldnât help but feel a few tears of your own build behind your eyes. This brave, strong trooper had been through enough. And whatever had happened before he came home to you had obviously shook him. It was no wonder that his release had triggered this intense emotional reaction.
Shushing and making soothing noises, you rocked him as much as you could with how you were still connected to him. Playing with the short curls at the back of his neck, you assured him he was safe, that he was loved and that he always had you. That for tonight at least he could relax and put down his every worry.
âI nearly died.â
The words cut straight to your heart, and you tightened your grip around him, fear lodging in your throat.
âWhat? Wha-what do you mean?â you stuttered, hoping that you had misheard him. It wasnât that you didnât know that death was a very real possibility for him. He was fighting back against the Empire and trying to rescue his brothers. But this was one of the first times that you had even came close to experiencing him being taken from you.
âThe Empire⌠they found the base. One of their shadow clones infiltrated the base and was shooting at us. I couldnât⌠I couldnât just stand there while Nemec was hurt so I⌠I laid covering fireâ he explained, words pouring out of him along with his tears.
âOf course you did, youâre so brave. I know you would do anything for your brothersâ you reassured, squeezing him to you.
âI grabbed a flame thrower, thought it might throw off his scope but he⌠he got a hit in.â
âYou shoulder?â you frowned, reaching for the wound that he had. Fireball nodded, taking another shuddering breath.
âI dropped the flame thrower, realised it was next to some thermal detonators and I⌠I ran. I felt the heat, the light from the blast⌠I can still feel it cyare, itâs like itâs burnt into meâ he admitted, running a hand over his face once more.
âHey, itâs okay, youâre bound to feel it when youâre still working through this and processing everythingâ you reminded him, rubbing a soothing hand up and down his back.
âIâm a soldier! I was made to withstand the pressure and stress of war!â he grumbled out, shaking his head in objection.
âHow much though? You nearly died baby, that doesnât just leave you, no matter your genetic engineeringâ you soothed, kissing his temple.
Fireball sighed, agreeing with you as he wrapped his arms around your waist and lifting you off him. You grimaced at the feel of his release trickling out of you. Making sure not to let you go too much, Fireball resituated you both so you were lying on his chest and he was relaxing against the bed. You were both a lot more comfortable, and you could continue to touch and soothe each other as Fireball told you exactly what happened to him.
âI heard the walls and roof start to crack and cave in. Rex managed to drag me back to the command post before I could be crushedâ he retold, closing his eyes as you traced patterns on his chest.
âRemind me to give him an extra big hamper next time I see himâ you grinned, hoping to bring that smile that you loved onto his face. Looking up, you caught the twitch of his lips as he scoffed at your joke.
âIâm sure heâd love that!â he remarked, amused at the thought of Rex receiving a hamper and not knowing what to do or say to you. His face fell as he remembered how close he was to actually leaving you, how Rex would have to tell you about his death. âAll that time, I could remember seeing your face. Thinking that it wasnât fair, that we havenât had our time together yet. It wasnât enough. I donât think it will ever be enoughâ Fireball revealed, looking down at you.
You swallowed the ball in your throat, snuggling into him even more. You couldnât think about how it would feel if you lost Fireball. It would be like your whole world would collapse on itself, your heart would break into a million pieces with no hope of ever recovering. It was a fate you didnât want to think about at all.
âI donât think eternity would be enough for usâ you agreed, tears slipping down your cheeks and onto his chest. He rubbed a warm, soothing palm against your spine. âBut⌠I donât want to waste any more of our time Fireball. What happened has just proven it. So ask meâ you breathed, gulping back the lump in your throat and the nerves settling into your belly.
âWhat?â he gaped, eyebrows risen in surprise at your response.
âAsk me the question weâve both been dancing around for ages nowâ you instructed him, looking up into his honey-coloured eyes.
âWould you join me and the others?â

âThatâs it?â Echo was even less impressed than usual. His brow rose as he set a hand on his hip. âThatâs the big news?â
Wrecker let out an exasperated groan of his own. âSarge, we donât need a break!â
Hunterâs eyebrow quirked up. âTell that to Tech.â The sergeant gestured with his head to their squad member who was sitting just behind where he stood on the Marauder. âHe still canât walk right. Iâm not throwing us into battle when weâre not all one-hundred percent.â
âActually, I will have you know that the ligaments in my ankle have already gotten forty-two percent stronger.â Tech finally lifted his nose from his datapad and pushed his goggles up with his finger. âAs you can see, Iâ...â Tech stood from the chair, but as soon as he placed too much pressure on his ankle, he winced. With a defeated exhale, he sunk back into the chair. âI am still healing.â
âExactly.â Hunter crossed his arms over his chestplate. âThis is still a mission, even if itâs not our usual pace.â
âAs long as I have something to aim for, Iâm fine with it.â Crosshair spoke without looking up from his rifle, which he was cleaning with his usual intensity.
âWell, if all goes well, you wonât.â Hunterâs prepared for the heat of Crosshairâs stern stare when it hits him. âItâs a protection job, for a senator.â
Crosshairâs response was even more snide than usual. âIsnât that what the Coruscant Guard is for?â
âAnd the Jedi?â Echo added.
âOn Coruscant, sure.â Hunter leaned his shoulder against the nearest interior hull and enjoyed the long moment of attentive silence he had from all four members of the squad. It was a rarity those days. âBut this missionâs based elsewhere.â
Echo narrowed his eyes and spoke in a cautious tone. âWhere?â
Hunter caught the gaze of all his men before answering. âEirus.â
âEirus is currently experiencing an intense inner crisis,â Tech somehow had the words ready for the rest of the squad straightaway, as if he knew what name was about to fall from Hunterâs tongue. âNearly half the planetâs population is composed of fiercely loyal Separatists who have splintered into small factions. Some of these factions have become very violent in an attempt to force their senator to pledge her allegiance to their cause.â
Echo raised his brow and turned his calculated gaze from Tech back to Hunter. âThis isnât exactly an unusual thing to be happening during this war.â
âNo, and thatâs why most senators are staying on Coruscant longer than they used to.â Hunterâs hand slid down to his hip as he recalled the details of the short briefing. âBecause of the crisis on Eirus, the senator is traveling on-world in an attempt to reach a compromise and bring an end to the violence.â
âSounds dangerous,â Wrecker commented. He let out a hearty chuckle and shoved the shoulder of his nearest brother, who just so happened to be Crosshair. âI like this senator already!â
âSheâs not the one who will have to fight if things go sideways, Wrecker,â Crosshair reminded him in his usual cool tone. The corner of his mouth began to rise as he went on. âThatâs what weâll be there for.â
âRight.â Hunter began to relax a bit as he watched the squad warm up more to the mission. âI told you it was a break because itâs a change in pace, but donât worry boys.â Hunter pushed himself off the hull and nodded as his lips stretched in a satisfied smile. âI have a feeling weâll still be seeing some action.â
âSo, I will get to shoot something?â Crosshair cocked his rifle with a hopeful twinkle in his eye.
âAnd Iâll get to blow something up?â Wrecker set a hand on Crosshairâs shoulder again as he stepped forward. Crosshair shot him a disapproving look.
âThat depends.â Hunter drew his blaster from his holster and flipped it a few times in his grasp, though the latter movement was subconscious. âWeâre on a struck stun-only policy.â
âWhat?â Wrecker gasped with surprise. âWhy? What if thereâre droids?â
âSeeing as we are soldiers of the Republic, using live rounds on the people of Eirus would only escalate the issue the senator is trying to resolve,â Tech answered. âWe would be giving the Separatist population another reason to justify their actions against the Republic.â
âAnd as far as our intel goes, no Separatist forces have made their way to Eirus,â Hunter added, holstering his blaster.
âYet.â Echo spoke the word that hung in the air between the five of them.
âWeâll have a better idea of exactly what weâre up against when we get there.â Hunter shifted to face Tech. âFor now, we have to head to Coruscant to meet the senator.â
Tech nodded, spinning around in the pilotâs chair to chart a course. The squad began to break off as the sergeant sat in the open co-pilotâs chair beside Techâs. Crosshair was still adding the final touches on his rifleâs cleanliness in the seat behind Hunterâs, while Wrecker and Echo had disappeared further inside the hold.
After Tech finished inputting the coordinates, he turned to look at the sergeant. âHunter, you know that we do not have to do this on my accord.â He looked down at his wrapped ankle. âWith the bacta infusions I have been doing, my injury should be completely healed in about two rotationsâ time.â
âI know, Tech.â Hunter let out a soft exhale and leaned back in his chair. He unsheathed his blade and began to twirl it around in another subconscious exercise. âWeâve just been running a lot of back-to-back missions, and obviously, itâs starting to catch up to us.â
Crosshair snorted, and Hunterâs senses didnât need to amplify the sound to make it obvious. Hunter didnât bother giving him a look as he focused on the movements of his knife.
âPlus, we were specifically requested for this mission.â
Techâs brow shot up at that. âSomeone selected us? For a protection job?â
âNot just âsomeone.ââ Hunter gave Tech a quick glance to highlight the smirk that had begun to tug at his lips. âThe senator herself.â
Tech adjusted his goggles, clearly unsure of what to do in his shock. âThe senator? Thatâs highly unusual. Typically, it would be an individual on the senatorâs personal guard who would do the necessary research toâ.â
âI think Hunter knows how it works,â Crosshair huffed from his place behind them.
âYouâre right though, Tech. Itâs unusual.â Hunter caught the hilt of his knife and paused to fully face Tech. âIt caught my curiosity. I want to know what she thinks is so special about us.â
Tech blinked at Hunter a few times. âI presume it would be our desirable genetic mutations that are, in case you were not aware, not a secret.â
âYeah, and what does that usually cause?â Hunter sheathed his blade and leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. âCaution and distrust. Not a personal invitation to whatâs most likely the most important diplomatic mission of her political career.â
âYou⌠have a point.â Tech lifted his datapad and began to tap around it. âI will do some more research on the senator.â
âGreat.â Hunter stood and patted Tech on the shoulder before he moved out of the cockpit.Â
Wrecker was already lounging in the chair by the systems console, while Echo lingered in the corner and fiddled with something on his arm. Hunter caught their attention as he stepped into their space, which made it all the more easier for him to address him.
âYou boys should get some rest. Weâre a long way out from Coruscant.â He nodded at Echo, who had raised his brow before he had a chance to ask his question. âIâm taking first watch.â
âAgain?â Wreckerâs tone was coated in disbelief. His gaze betrayed that same emotion. âAre you actually gonna get some rest this time, Sarge?â
Hunter shrugged and offered a small smile. âDepends on how fast we get there.â He let out a sigh when Wreckerâs concern still didnât let up. âDonât worry about me, Wrecker. Weâll all be getting some more rest on this mission.â
That was enough for Wrecker, causing him to nod as he leaned back further in the chair and closed his eyes. His feet had already been kicked up on the console, and he was fortunate Tech hadnât yet noticed. That wouldnât last long.
As Hunter turned to re-enter the cockpit, he found Crosshair already standing and shouldering Tech. âWe already heard you,â Crosshair assured him.
âI pulled up everything I could find on the senator,â Tech informed the sergeant, handing him the datapad with his free hand. âWhat I found most fascinating was the motivation behind her appointment.â
Hunter nodded at Tech in approval, and he knew better than to comment on the speed of his research. âGood work.â He looked between the two of them. âNow get some rest.â
Tech spoke to Hunter over his shoulder as Crosshair started to crutch him away. âYou are aware that the brain and the body cannot properly operate on limited rest, especially with as little sleep as you have gotten in recent rotations?â
Hunter scoffed fondly to himself and called back to him. âThanks, Tech.â
The sergeant held the datapad and made himself comfortable in the pilotâs chair. He leaned back and held up the datapad, clicking through Techâs research. Taking his brotherâs advice, Hunter first looked at the senatorâs background, specifically the history of your appointment.
His eyes widened as he read the Aurebesh text in front of him. He had to agree with Tech; your ascension from rebellion leader to senator was nothing short of fascinating.
According to the history Tech had pulled up, you had been the one to organize a large group of Eirusâ population against an oppressive local regime, which had slowly taken over the planetâs government. They had covered up the assassination of Eirusâ senator, who was your relative, and withdrawn from the Republic Senate altogether. It wasnât until your forces managed to topple their regime that you had become the planetâs senator and reestablished a relationship between Eirus and the Senate.
That only made Hunterâs curiosity ache even more. If you once had enough forces to overthrow a regime, then why did you need a Republic squadron as protection? It did, at least, speak somewhat to why their squad had been chosen. Clearly, as a soldier and tactician yourself, you had done the research to find the ideal squad for the job.
Even as his eyes began to burn from the aforementioned lack of rest his brothers had been getting on his case about, he couldnât stop planning the ways he would pick your brain for the reason why they were the ones you needed so badly.
This kept Hunter busy for the commute. He remained on watch the entire time, only leaving his post when the Marauder was about to drop out of hyperspace. Hunter woke up the squad and instructed them to get ready, and it was no surprise that Tech was already prepared to take the helm. His ankle had healed considerably during his rest, just as he had predicted, and thus he was able to limp himself to the cockpit with a surprising amount of ease.
Hunter stayed in the co-pilotâs seat and gave Tech the information on the senatorâs designated docking area. It had been a while since their last visit to Coruscant, but of course, Tech navigated the air traffic with ease. The Marauder soon began its descent onto the platform, and Hunter observed the space with a raise of his brow.
Rather than the typical red markings of the Republic, or even the white and gold accents many senators added for flair, your platform was filled with delicate swirls of green and purple. The color palette reminded him of the few lush planets he and the squad had been to on various missions, emulating the colorful overgrowth of forests and gardens. He let out an impressed huff. It seemed you were truly carving your own path in more ways than just one.
Hunter rose from his chair to collect his belongings. He secured his pack on his back and checked all his weapons before reaching for his helmet. As soon as the Marauder had fully landed, Tech did the same, and he was the last of the squad to get in formation by the hatch. After Hunter did a quick assessment of them all, he slid on his helmet and lowered the stairs.
As he led the way out, Hunter observed their surroundings more closely. They were being approached by the senator and her guards, with the man Hunter had spoken to leading in front and the others blocking the senator from view. The guards wore the same colors of green and purple as the platform, and their weapons were accented with silver.
âSergeant,â the head guard greeted once he was in earshot. Hunter wondered if the man knew he still could have heard him at any distance. The guard stopped just a few paces away from the squad and bowed his head. âThank you for arriving so promptly.â
Hunter removed his helmet and tucked it under his arm before repeating the manâs bow. âCaptain.â He gestured with his head to his squad. âWeâre just as eager to get going.â
The captain smiled. âWe figured as much.â
Hunterâs eyebrow rose. ââWe?ââ
The captainâs grin spread even more widely as he took a step back and gestured with his arm to the guards behind him. âAllow me to formally introduce you.â The captain announced your full name and title, and the guards standing in front of you parted to allow you to step through.
Hunter was no stranger to seeing and speaking with diplomats and leaders, from planetary royalty to the other senators of the Republic. Those types of positions always emphasized image, and thus Hunter was used to seeing some of the most conventionally attractive people in the galaxyâbut this, seeing you, was the first time he ever had to audibly stifle a breath.
For once, the only heartbeat Hunter could sense was his own, the skip and then speed of it as it hammered against his armored chest.
Composure. It was a lesson he and the others all had to learn on Kamino, and it was one he had always excelled in. It was much of the reason why he had earned his rank as sergeant. This, however, was the first time he ever had to forcibly remind himself to find it.
Then he realized the strength of the skip in his heartbeat wasnât just from his own, but also from yours. That made his mask slip for one second more before he pulled it together.
âSenator.â Hunter resisted the urge to clear his throat as he bowed his head, taking the quick moment of concealment to let the flush burn through his cheeks. It was hard to keep the sensation from persisting when he looked back up and observed that you wore the same colors as your guards.
âYou must be Sergeant Hunter.â Your voice added a new layer of unfamiliar yet sweet warmth to Hunterâs chest as your lips spread in a radiant smile. You extended your hand towards him. âItâs a pleasure to meet you.â
All thoughts and proper protocol dissipated from Hunterâs mind as he saw your outstretched hand in front of him. He took it without his gaze ever breaking from yours and raised it to his lips, gently kissing the soft skin on the back of your hand before offering it back to you. âThe pleasureâs all ours, Senator.â
And there it was, another skip in your heartbeat. Hunter fought hard to hide his own smile as yours grew. Your gaze gave him a once-over, an action so quick Hunter would have second guessed it if he hadnât felt its gentle burn. âI like your armor. Itâs different from the other clones.â
âYeah, well⌠so are we.â His words reminded him of the squad who still stood behind him, and Hunter stepped aside to make them all more visible. âLet me introduce you to the squad.â He began with Wrecker, who was closest to his side. âThis isâ.â
ââWrecker, Tech, Echo, and Crosshair.â You named each one of them with ease, your face beaming as you gave them all a respectful nod. âI apologize for cutting you off, Sergeant. I just⌠I love your squadâs work.â
Hunter blinked a few times in surprise at what he was hearing. It was rare enough for such diplomats, politicians, and royals to have even heard of his squad, much less admire what they did on the battlefield. âWell, uh⌠thank you, Senator.â
âThat is certainly a surprising sentiment,â Tech couldnât keep himself from adding. âCommonly, the adjectives associated with our battle strategies are⌠less than favorable.â
âHah!â Wrecker elbowed Techâs chestplate, making him wince and rub the spot with narrowed eyes. âMy favorite was when that prime minister called us âdestructive.ââ
âYouâre not being helpful, Wrecker,â Crosshair muttered.
âOh, stow it, Crosshair,â Wrecker scoffed. âYouâre just mad that I got the last of âem on that mission.â
âThatâs enough.â Hunter resisted the urge to sigh at them as he turned to face you with an apologetic look.
You instead offered him a reassuring nod and a soft laugh. âI think itâs great you have some friendly competition in your squad.â You looked over them with fondness. âIt breeds efficiency.â
âThatâs right!â Wrecker cheered. He reached over to Crosshair to give his armored shoulder a light push. âI told you I would like her!â
âYeah, youâre not the only one,â Echo mumbled, his words only loud enough for the squad to hear.Â
Hunter tightened his jaw when he felt their gazes on him and heard Crosshairâs snickering. âIf youâd like, Senator, we can lead the way in our ship.â He gestured with his free hand back to the Marauder. âJust in case there are any unwanted surprises awaiting your arrival.â
âHopefully thatâs not the case, but Iâd appreciate that, Sergeant.â You smiled again and nodded. âThank you. I look forward to working with you more closely on Eirus.â Your gaze lingered on Hunter before it looked around the squad.
âAs do we.â Hunter bowed his head once more. âTech will set up a secure comm channel for us to use once weâre on board.â
âPerfect.â Your smile was directed at Tech as you nodded at him. âThank you, Tech.â
âYou do not need to extend gratitude towards me for merely fulfilling my purpose, Senator.â Hunter couldnât help the small eye roll he gave at Techâs words. So much for Hunter being the one to slip up on propriety.
Hunter slid his helmet back on and began to lead the squad back to the Marauder. His face burned from both his memory of what had just happened and his anticipation of what he would be up against inside the ship. He flexed the hand that had held yours as it also burned at the memory of your touch.
Maybe Hunter was more right before than even he had known at the time. Maybe all those missions really had taken its toll on them, and maybe it was driving him down a delusional spiral. He really did need to get some rest.
As soon as the squad was on the Marauder with the hatch secured in place, Tech spoke up. âThat was not the proper protocol for greeting a senator, Hunter.â
âIâm aware, Tech.â He lifted his helmet and gestured with his head to the cockpit. âGet those comms set up and chart our course.â
Tech nodded, though Hunter didnât miss the faint smile on his lips as he limped to the cockpit. Hunter set his helmet down and ran his hand over his hair as he thought about what to do next. He had a plan before, surely; he had thought of it in hyperspace on the way to Coruscant. It had, of course, vanished for some reason.
âYou seem distracted, Sarge,â Wreckerâs voice broke through Hunterâs thoughts as he grinned slyly at him.
âCome on, Wrecker,â Echo said next. His expression turned from serious to amused as his gaze found Hunterâs. âClearly, he is distracted.â
âIâm thinking about our arrival on Eirus,â Hunter insisted.
âAnd your reunion withâ,â Crosshair started.
âOur plan.â Hunter raised his brow, challenging them to continue. Crosshair raised his brow and fought a smile as he set a toothpick between his lips. âWe donât know what will be waiting for us when we get there.â
âYou sound worried, Hunter.â Echo set a hand on his hip as he faced the sergeant. âI thought this mission was going to be a âbreak.ââ
âNah, heâs just getting protective already.â Wrecker set a hand on Echoâs shoulder and chuckled a few times.
Hunter circled his jaw and crossed his arms. âThatâs the whole point of this mission. Protecting.â Hunter furrowed his brow at the men around him. âDonât forget that.â
Echoâs brow rose as he looked over at Wrecker. âYouâre right, Wrecker.â He snickered. ââProtective.ââ
Hunter rolled his eyes and turned around to walk into the cockpit. As he went, he heard Crosshair say one more thing to Echo and Wrecker. âHe really does need to get some sleep. Heâs gotten⌠cranky.â
Hunter didnât bother throwing a glare over his shoulder as he approached Tech in the pilotâs chair. He set his hands upon the back of the chair to check on Techâs progress. âHowâs it going in here?â
âPresumably much better than it has for you out there.â Tech didnât so much as crack a smile as he worked the controls, despite his joke that made Hunter huff with amusement. âThe comm channel is fully functioning, and our course is charted. Seeing as Eirus is located in the Outer Rim, we will have another lengthy trip ahead of us.â
Hunter nodded. âGreat. Iâm going to get some long-awaited rest.â
âGood.â Tech looked up from the controls to give Hunter a pointed glance. âI believe it is the lack of rest that caused such a slip-up in your propriety today.â
Hunter smiled at that, and part of him wanted to believe it. âRight.â He patted Techâs shoulder and stepped out of the cockpit. Echo brushed past him on his way to claim first watch, and Wrecker and Crosshair couldnât keep their sly smiles contained as Hunter walked to his bunk.
As he settled in, the full weight of what had happened during your meeting began to sink in. Tech had a point, as it had to be the lack of rest that allowed him to get so carried away. There was no point in even entertaining the thought of giving in to the warmth he had felt before. Potential reciprocation wouldnât change that.
He knew what Cut had sacrificed for Suu. As the leader of his squad, Hunter couldnât do the same. He refused to.
And the fact he was even letting such thoughts go so far caused his face to burn with a different kind of embarrassment as he fell asleep to flashes of green and purple in his exhausted mind.

Hey, I figured it was about time I sat down and put one of these together, as I have a lot of fics and it can be rather confusing, even for me.
Iâve split them into categories, gen, ship fics and series. I have also linked a few of my cosplay posts.
I am very much ship and let ship. I realize that not everyone out there ships the same people. I am too old and too tired to get into shipping wars and discourse. I have literally about a thousand other things I would rather do than judge someone based on their shipping preferences. I donât block or blacklist or go through peopleâs profiles to see what they ship. There is no DNI if you ship xyz or if I find out you ship xyz you will be blocked. I donât have time for that. If I donât like something I see on someoneâs feed, I move on with my life. That said, Iâll give almost anything a read. I realize that is not everyoneâs cup of tea and I respect that.Â
I would sincerely appreciate the same courtesy. If you see something I have written here and it is not your jam, absolutely fine, no hard feelings. Please donât be like, oh, Iâd love to read this but it has xyz ship in it, eww. Weâre all adults here. Fandom is supposed to be fun, letâs keep it that way, shall we?
