1. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge: it's as old as me and still running in a theatre after all these years. it's literally that movie. the biggest reason he's called the king of romance and there wasn't even a kissing scene in this. hasn't aged. beautiful soundtrack. and the infamous mustard field

My Name is Khan: 14th feb 2010, 3pm show in a single screen theatre and i had the time of my life watching my first srk movie in "talkies". i was so happy i was gonna cry finally in a theatre and wept i did. he was so fucking good in this kajol's comeback directed by karan johar. lots of tears. and some more. 9/11 background but it's a love story still. he should have won the national award and that jury will end up in hell someday :)

3. Veer-Zaara: romeo and juliet's tragedy is nothing compared to veer-zaara's. the songs the music the acting the actors the director the writer everything was just so good. a lot of people don't know this but eye acting was actually invented by shah rukh khan

Dil to Pagal Hai: a musical about a musical the soundtrack slayyyyed then it slayyyys now. underrated on current tumblr but i think i am starting to prefer that because DTPH is mine. i never had a crush on shahrukh but if any character of his ever came close it was from this movie. one of his sexiest characters imo. did i mention the songs were way too good.

5. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham: shahrukh really cries like children do. who knew weeping can have range. great songs great cast. kajol in orange. srk in see-through shirts. it's actually a family drama but it's fun also his mother in the movie has a superpower.

Om Shanti Om: no bollywood movie has ever bollywooded the way OSO did. love friendship reincarnation hero heroine villain nepotism revenge action comedy great music (and one more thing but that's a huge spoiler) it really just had everything. one of the finest masala movies ever made. it's tumblr's favourite as it should be. also this movie is how i learnt san francisco rhymes with disco

Baazigar: the directors were having trouble finding the lead actor because nobody wanted to take the risk then srk told the producer that nobody can play this role as good as he can and he became the first actor in the history of filmfare to win the best actor award after playing a negative role. a cult classic.

Darr: it's the 90s it's the hero heroine villain era when the audiences think the people who play villains are bad people irl and dislike them. sunny deol an already established "hero" is the hero of the movie and srk is the villain a scary stalker and what happened was that the audiences really loved him instead. (my sister got scared of him enough that she started crying in the theatre and my parents had to leave mid-movie a wuss). something that couldn't have been achieved by just anyone except the future king of bollywood. oh lots of switzerland. also the legendary director of the movie kinda adopted srk and started casting him in every movie of his afterwards.

9. Fan: about an obsessed fan (not me just tbc). underrated af.

Main Hoon Na: a cool srk entry. action comedy friendships a whole college adopting a grown up as their big bro beautiful sarees the best dressed character who then got a make-over 🥲 (the only one flaw of the movie) a villain (which was getting rare in the 2000s) the best ending credits ever and whatnot. it was farah khan's directorial debut and she brought fun back to bollywood with her bestie <3

Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa: i was younger than 4 srk wasn't my favourite "hero" yet but his character from this movie was my first blorbo. my murderous rage awakened for him. the first character i ever related to was also from this movie. gangster uncle 🤜🏾🤛🏾 me. srk was so baby (he was like 28) there was also ra ra rasputin in this. srk loves this movie so do i.

Before I found out about Tessa and Scott, the only pair I knew as a child growing in an Asian household was Kajol-Shah Rukh Khan. Plot twist! It's so funny that even the costars (who are younger than them) of their last movie too thought that they were married when they were just children watching them on screen.

You find joy in trying to make people uncomfortable and confuse them by telling them, "We're not a couple!" for the millionth time because people refuse to believe that you're not in love with him/her. It was probably exhausting for them to answer that question, but I think a part of them enjoyed the mystery that their relationship created in the minds of people.

Kajol, who was recently seen in Lust Stories 2 is opening up about a lot of things lately. Recently, she talked about how she ignored the advice of Shahrukh Khan which cost her a lot of burnout. Talking to the media, Kajol recalled her old days of acting when she had just entered the industry. She remembered how Shahrukh Khan told him once to learn the technique of acting, but she ignored it.  She said that she then had to face burnout and it became so intense that she thought of quitting the industry even.

Kajol stated that when she started her career in 1992, by 1994 she thought she had mastered the craft and became careless. “I reached a point in my career where I was doing things unconsciously. I was doing everything… I was like ‘ye bhi kar do, ye dialogue bhi bol do, sab kuch andar se nikal raha tha (Do everything, say every dialogue, everything was coming from within),” Kajol shared.

It was Shahrukh who advised Kajol to learn acting techniques but she was ignorant. “I reached a point in my career where I was doing things unconsciously. I was doing everything… I was like ‘ye bhi kar do, ye dialogue bhi bol do, sab kuch andar se nikal raha tha (Do everything, say every dialogue, everything was coming from within),” Kajol shared during an interview with Humans of Cinema.

She also accepts that there came a time when she felt exhausted doing serious roles on the screen. “I did a film called Udhar Ki Zindagi (1994). After that film, I felt I was done with the film industry and acting. I was completely burnt out as an actor and I didn’t want to do movies anymore. I told my mother I am taking a break from all this meaningful cinema, this rona-dhona and achee roles. I don’t want to do them anymore. I told her, I want to be a typical 3 scenes and 4 song kind of actor who doesn’t have many scenes. So, I signed 3 films that had that kind of role and they were a relief.”

Kajol will be soon seen in the Disney Plus Hotstar show, The Trial which will mark her digital debut.

sorry this is predictable lol but my favs are both kajol and juhi! kajol of course because of the iconicness + nostalgia factor i have of watching their movies together growing up, and juhi is a new fav now that i’m watching srk’s more obscure stuff. i adore them as a pairing on-screen and love their friendship off-screen. i actually would love to see him do another with juhi or mahira khan — their chemistry in raees was amazing!

Nicknames: lol, I mean, my fake internet name is basically a nickname, also “C”, all the broski, brosauce, etc variations me and my bestie use, speaking of, could also consider Elsa a nickname, or Cristina, because we are stone cold adults to refer to each other as our respective personality double in favourite duos (Elsa and Anna, and Meredith and Cristina) - yeah, we know we are fucking lame. My sister calls me “Titly”, which means butterfly, you may now also refer to me as Your Majesty, because I bought Elsa’s crown as a birthday gift for myself and gave myself a coronation, thereby legally making me Arendelle’s Queen. This is how it works now right? Declaring something online immediately makes it true. 

Real name: Clara, lol, it’s not, it’s just what I’ve been using online for nearly a decade or so now, so what’s the point? But my real middle name is “Taika”, which is a name I share with Taika Waititi, which is cool. 

Zodiac: Scorpio 

Favourite Musicians / Band: Taylor Swift, Dima Bilan, Sergey Lazarev, Anime OST (deep into Code Geass and Bleash OST atm, god they were iconic), OST in general, KAZKA (thank you again so much @pulltheskydown for introducing me to her), Alma, Amir, Rihanna, Polina Gagarina, been in a Britney mood the last few weeks. Idk, I just have music I like, and music I don’t like, and some people I am very thirsty for. Also, also, literally any song from any Shahrukh Khan movie. I always was, still am, and always will be, one of those SRK loving bitches. The man is ICONIC. 

Do I get asks?: Once in a blue moon. 

Favourite sports team: I support the national teams ‘cause Go Canada Go or whatever. Also more invested in the Raptors than I ever thought I’d be, but hey, them winning the NBA last year gave me more serotonin than I ever thought boring sports could give me. It’s still so boring, but I do follow the scores when they appear on CP24 (local news channel), feels good when your city’s teams win. Guess that means by default I also support the Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs, but whatever.

My first ever main was @livesinabluebox (which has gone through a few url changes, namely melanin-monster and moonrxvenge, but it’s 2012 again so I switched back to my og url), I’m trying to clear out all my likes so I’m still posting there, but trying to move to my new main over @moonrxvenge. Dream car: Tesla, it was a blue Model S, but that was 5 years ago (4? 3? idk, a time ago) and I’m sure there are newer models now that I am too lazy look up

Instruments: I technically played the flute for a year (maybe three) in middle school music class, but it was mandated and I don’t remember. I could play the beginning of To Love’s End from Inuyasha back then, but not now. I can play the main tune, like just the first few notes, of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s main theme on the piano, but I just memorized the keys. Idk the actual notes. F or G or E I guess? Idk. 

Languages: English, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, technically French, but I didn’t really retain anything from it, like I can read French, but got little to no idea what I’m saying. Straight up surprised when I do understand. I think it’s in there, but barely. Also supposed to be able to speak Arabic, but retained less of that than French. 

Celebrity crushes: Chris Evans, Jenna Coleman, SRK (lol, since I was born probably), Kajol, Bruna Marquezine, Yuki Kimisawa, and loads of others. I’m a hoe for the fictional and the theoretical, what can I say?  

Random facts: Buying notebooks and using them are two entirely different hobbies, and, okay, this isn’t like interesting in the least but I am OBSESSING over the drama that went down between Salman Khan and Zayn over his cover of Allah Duhai Hai - yeah, I know I’m 2 years late to this, but whatever, no fucking told me about it and I can’t find any definitive information and I’m going crazy! Please, someone explain what happened 'cause I am dying!!! I need to know!! (also, salman fans don’t interact, vo kuni hai yaar, tu phagal hai kya?)

5. Dilwale (2015)

I don’t even want to put this movie on this list because I hate it so much, but I need a movie to fill up the fifth slot. Unless Kajol’s thirty-second cameo in Om Shanti Om counts as an SRK/Kajol movie, but I don’t think it does. Anyways, Dilwale was almost as big of a disappointment as Kalank. They ripped off the whole Shahrukh’s-brother-is-in-love-with-Kajol’s-sister thing from Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham. Hrithik and Kareena >>>>> Varun and Kriti, no I will not be taking constructive criticism on that. In fact, Varun and Kriti are a big reason why the movie didn’t work for me. It was advertised as a new big SRK/Kajol movie, so that’s what I was expecting. So why was another couple that has no chemistry and no one cares about given half of the screen time? Manma Emotion Jaage Re is actually one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard, especially the part when Kriti starts rapping. Oh God it was so terrible. Gerua and Janam Janam were stunning and reminded me that Shahrukh and Kajol are the king and queen of Bollywood and will never be replaced. I want to make it clear that I actually like Varun and think he’s a talented actor (but Kriti’s another story lol), it’s just that his character didn’t really work for me in this movie. I kept waiting for the story to turn back to Shahrukh and Kajol whenever him and Kriti came on screen.

4. My Name Is Khan (2010)

This movie absolutely broke me. I watched this when I was eight, and it opened up my eyes. I didn’t really understand what islamophobia was until I watched it. I think the movie did a good job of showing audiences the discrimination and unfairness that Muslims have to put up with. Shahrukh’s acting was amazing and Kajol was enchanting, as usual.

3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)

I know that a lot of people like to say that Shahrukh was a f*ckboy in this movie, and I was actually one of them, but I’ve done some thinking and I’ve changed my mind. He was definitely a f*ckboy in college. But when Tina died, he stepped up and became the best father in the world to Anjali. I feel like he redeemed himself. I miss when Karan Johar used to make good movies like these. And there’s so many things that make this movie iconic; Kajol’s short hair, Rahul and Anjali’s handshake, the soundtrack, THE GAZEBO SCENE, and the fact that Shahrukh gets both heroines and S*lm*n Kh*n gets neither lol. This movie makes me believe in love and holds a very special place in my heart.

2. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)

Hello, do I even need to explain? This is literally the MOST iconic love story. The Notebook wants what DDLJ has. This movie is timeless and I’m so glad that it’s considered a classic because it deserves this honor. Every single song on this soundtrack is so fun and catchy. You’re lying to yourself if you haven’t nearly slipped in the shower trying to recreate Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye. Everyone was on edge when they saw the train scene for the first time, and it’s pathetic when other movies copy that scene. Shahrukh and Kajol did it first, and they did it better, so jot that down. Shahrukh and Kajol literally INVENTED love and this movie is scientific documentation of that.

1. Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham (2001)

Okay, first I wanna say that in terms of quality, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is the best Shahrukh and Kajol movie. However, the anon was asking me what my FAVORITE one was. Just because something’s my favorite doesn’t make it the best, and Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham is my favorite Shahrukh and Kajol movie. I’ve seen it so many times that I could recite every line by heart. I’ve played every single song on repeat. You Are My Soniya and Suraj Hua Maddham were literally staples of my childhood. Unlike Varun and Kriti, Hrithik and Kareena didn’t annoy me at all, their characters were more fleshed out and likeable, I was excited to see where the plot would take them. They had amazing chemistry. Maybe it’s cuz Kareena actually knows how to act and dance lol. The movie also had Amitabh and Jaya, Bollywood LEGENDS. Having three iconic couples all together on one big screen really made this movie so amazing. Also, the gamla scene is the funniest thing ever and still makes me laugh today.
