I dont know whether I'm more surprised I didn't see it coming OR surprised they introduced a new potential.... "romantic" rival so quickly??

Which also begs the question, IS he supposed to be a romantic interest??

I think given Eliza's character traits and her professional pursuits and dynamics with any Scotland Yard worker, it feels like it should be unlikely, but I'm not sure whether that's just me being incredulous and teensy bit unwilling to let go of william lol. Still, it feels odd to "move on" so quickly, and I'm hoping showrunners will let Eliza be herself for some time without pressures to have to link up some man.

It's been refreshing (as an ace person) to see the focus of the writing on her hijinks and adventures, and while I enjoy a romance as much as an fanfic-reading fan, keeping her romantic life as second fiddle is what sets MSATD apart for me. (second fiddle in the best way)

Bc there's still romantic tension and banter and EEE glances, so I LOVE that, but I also love being confronted with a woman who pursues, struggles, loses, adapts, but doesn't compromise her professional passion (and seeing all the consequences from that).

Okay soooo I might get bashed for saying this but unpopular opinion coming and a rant hopefully this is a safe space;

Six hundred strike was amazing musically: unlike many I enjoyed the beginning of the song but by the end I was a bit put off because how does Odysseus, a mortal defeat a literal god, not just a god but POSEIDON god of the fricken sea and earthquakes? Like it’s a cool concept but it’s just… makes Poseidon look and seem weak then in the ocean saga. Sure Odysseus became a “monster” but he’s still a mortal, I also find the “six hundred strike” silly like Odysseus did that?…. Using a wind bag?

I enjoy the concept but the plot kinda turns it off for me (not that it’s bad please don’t bash me) Poseidon is one of the 3 major gods, I feel like Odysseus was made to be too overpowered I’d understand if there was a power boost or divine intervention. Poseidon is made to seem weak which contradicts seeing him as a threat. It strays from the original Odyssey way more in this song, and the song is very amazing though I find it silly how Poseidon was defeated and how Odysseus is way too over powered.

And let’s talk about the animation, the person who made it is so very talented but I feel it doesn’t fit, the jet pack windbag? Boss battle? Interesting but it really put me off when I listened and watched it it kinda ruined the aspects for me.

Overall in the end I feel six hundred strike had a good concept and was very great musically but I personally didn’t like the plot of Odysseus defeating Poseidon so easily I mean the man has many different powers aswell? Anyways this is just my personal opinion

Another rant: Also I loved the song “I’m not sorry for loving you” though I feel like if I even said that out loud I’d be bashed by the fandom because, yes, calypso is a bad person I know but the song is really nice and musical it doesnt mean I like the things she’s doing to Odysseus.

Another rant (apologies); I feel like everyone is too blindsided with Odysseus, a lot of people blame everyone but him a lot like he’s just a “cinnamon roll who loves his wife so much and the crew are all a-holes” because like eurylochus he also made mistakes aswell he tries to keep his crew alive abd get home but we do have to accept that this was from Greek mythology he is a flawed character aswell and I enjoy him for that. It makes the audience connect with Odysseus.

Another thing, wisdom saga— I feel Telemachus is used like a child a characterization of a child or teenager unlike the 20 year old he is. It’s a bit off putting for me. And it’s possible to make him innocent and grown such as the use of Polites. Personally he’s like an embodiment of a child and it’s weird to me because he’s a prince and will be king, shouldn’t he have some roles?

Now another thing connecting onto what I just said about “Odysseus does no wrong” ALOT of people in the fandom seem to use Eurylochus as a scapegoat for their hatred and anger to who’s at fault when it’s really the gods and fate, it’s just something the fandom has created to put the anger on why Odysseus couldn’t get home quickly, and I can understand because we look through Odysseus’s perspective throughout the musical. But personally I feel like Eurylochus gets too much hate he is sadly the scapegoat. Even the crew, but it’s saddening because they also have lives, they had family, they are mere mortals what are they to do? What would you all do in these situations if you didn’t know Odysseus’s plans and inner monologues? How would you act?

It’s honestly saddening you can’t like eurylochus without a person spewing about why they hate him, heck I’ve even seen just simple cute TikTok and art about the man but people place hatred within the comments about the character. And it’s only him, you could like Odysseus, polites, perimedies elpenor, Circe, etc. but hate Eurylochus?

and yesss i love the seawing royals!!! in my rewrite, tsunami has the most family focus out of any prophecy dragonet. i removed clay's sibs from the first book, so the lost heir is the first time any of them meet family members! i have a lot of thoughts about them so this is going under a readmore LOL

when tsunami first meets her mom, it really does feel like coming home. they're both incredibly happy to be reunited and coral showers her with tons of special treatment. at this point, tsunami sees coral as sweet and powerful and fun to be around - she's the mother that the guardians never were, and that tsunami has been wanting her entire childhood.

the first crack in this view is when tsunami gets to know her many brothers. coral insists they aren't "as important" as tsu, because they can't take the throne - tsu doesn't really like this, but she grew up with unhealthy parental figures, so she can't quite put it into words. parents always have favorites, that's just how it is, right? she also feels some sort of way about anemone being kept on a literal leash (and how anemone is often told she needs to be "like tsunami"), but again, she believes coral's defense that she does everything for her chicks' safety. tsunami wants to trust her mom; she wants to believe that coral is good and kind, and that she's everything tsunami didn't have growing up.

there's also a moment in here where tsunami visits the royal hatchery and coral tells her about orca. coral remembers orca as a perfect daughter who just snapped one day. coral compares tsunami to her, in a bittersweet way... also, all throughout the lost heir coral tends to treat tsunami like a child, insisting she be More Formal but also laughing when she messes up social norms & insisting she's Just Fine How She Is. tsunami is clearly her favorite kid, but tsunami also doesn't feel totally enough, like her youth under the mountain left coral disappointed in her.

what really cements tsunami's doubts is when coral pulls out a hatchery guard's teeth for failing to protect the eggs (the egg of auklet's clutchmate is smashed). tsunami is horrified - this is the kind of baseless violence she saw (and hoped to leave) in the sky kingdom. coral says it's only fair, though, and says that tsunami will have to make "tough decisions" too when she's queen.

tsunami meets with her brothers afterwards but it doesnt really help, because they just share more of coral's flaws. after this she goes back to the surface and finds the rest of the prophecy dragonets & fills them in on everything that's been going on. they understand immediately and she finds more comfort in them than she ever has in the sea kingdom.

this is a major realization for tsunami! coral is not a perfect mother, and there was never a dream family waiting for her in the sea kingdom... but that's okay, because she already has her family: the other dragonets.

so overall, tsunami does love her mom, but she's also very aware of coral's flaws and how she hurt her other children. coral treats tsunami better than anybody else but also tends to baby her, as if she's catching up on lost time or doesn't see tsu as her own person. its hard to summarize their relationship but i hope you like the block of text anyway!

I’m the anon, I didn’t know you shipped Kabby too that’s cool. I’ve read your analysis which I find it interesting. I’ll only correct you on effie’s arc in the movies cause i think you had missed something and it can happen to not have grasp it, so I’ll just add this. Book and movie effie have a different fate (that ends in the same way) that fits her character in both the adaptations: book effie is less present in cf and she has a subtle development due to the fact that whenever she was showing sign of emotions something else happened or it was just a line so it was not that noticed yet she was still sad, cried and proposed the golden tokens. Not knowing her fate during most of the mj book was to make readers think that she had either been executed or that she was fine but then surprise we meet her at the end when in just few lines we discovered that she had been captured, tortured and that she had a vacant look in her eyes. That trauma is what make her sympathetic.

Movie effie on the contrary had a more on-screen development due to the fact that the movies were in third person, she also talks about the four of them as a team and she apologize to them saying that she is sorry for what happened and is happening and that is what makes us sympathize with her. So it happens before. Her being brought in D13 makes sense in the movie verse cause Katniss and her are let’s say closer. And bc she had already a significant development. She stands with the mockingjay and we see it through her wardrobe. She first have a customize uniform cause she feels insecure, untrusty and unwelcomed in d13 (that’s how SHE feels) but she wears something gold that ties her with Katniss then slowly she starts to wear the same jumpsuit of the others in 13 meaning that she starts to feel welcomed and fully believes in the revolution (from 75% to 100%), but she still wears gold. She does think the revolution is necessary as she says “let’s bring back democracy” but she is a morally grey character with flaws and those are still showed in part 1&2. That doesnt un-do her development of cf, on the contrary it highlighted it making her more complex :)

I really liked Effie's more subtle and slower development in the books, hence why I've outlined and focused on it more. I know fans of hers (and that was me as well!) were delighted to have more, but the quantity did not feel like quality to me.

I'll agree to disagree with you on some interpretations of movie Effie. Every example you mention is focused on her feelings toward Haymitch, Katniss, and Peeta. She was inactive in 13 (again, why did the regime allow her to consume their resources without punishment) until Plutarch approached her about Katniss. Her journey you outline is that of caring for three people, but that does not make her a revolutionary or a believer in the revolution. Had she had scenes in the movie or the book where she reflected on the systematic oppression, I'd have bought into that arc, but she does not.

And I'll say that I like that about her !! She's a perfect example of a neoliberal white woman who learns that slurs are bad but who still believes in the fact that poor people are poor because they don't try hard enough. Her failure to grasp the injustices she represented each year are making her a realistic and interesting character as her indoctrination defines her to the end of the trilogy. And I LOVE flawed characters !! It's why I've attached blind spots to all the major characters I'm writing creatively who are part of the rebellion. None of them "fully" grasp it.

Unfortunately, and that's why I've turned away from the character & ship, I've felt that the movies I watched and the versions I've seen were ignorant to these flaws. I assume some part of it was discomfort in sitting with morally grey characters, especially when they were, in essence, part of the oppressing group. Effie has seemingly been viewed with rose-tinted glasses by many, including Francis Lawrence.

The scene you mention to allude to her finally having understood the rebellion ("let’s bring back democracy") happens at the beginning of MJ, so hardly a conclusion to her character journey if several other aspects mentioned occur later. This scene was originally supposed to be Plutarch's scene and Plutarch's words. Due to the actor's death, the only option was Effie, as Haymitch had his reveal scene later. I don't buy her saying or believing these words. Effie was raised in a fascist society and is the representation of the average Capitol citizen. I don't think she knows or grasps democracy, nor understands why it is necessary because her character flaw is not grasping systematic injustice. The scene also felt contrived in Cinna having given the book to Effie, but this isn't the focus here. If the sole hint for her to have developed a grasp of the overall rebellion's necessity hinges on the on-set death of an actor and the scrambling to keep that scene alive, that's a pretty weak character arc whose scene is out of character because it was never meant to be hers to begin with.

okay but do you want to think about how original heroine training plan novel was about hiyori having a crush on this guy she met once and loving the ideal version of him she made in her head while literally not knowing the first thing about him but then it involves her actual genuine bond with aizo and yujiro that happened BECAUSE she knows their true selves and flaws and still likes them and they still like her

because i have so many emotions about how in a series that typically romanticizes love at first sight and first loves, hiyori's first love ends with her getting rejected and she MOVES ON and how amazing it would be if her second loves are aizo and yujiro, who ARE NOT her ideal princes but she likes them anyways

like theres this maturation kind of like in the fact that she would go from liking this ideal fantasy that doesnt exist anywhere to loving aizo and yujiro, two people who can show their genuine selves around hiyori??? but also like they are both idols who literally cannot show their true selves to their fans and are so used to being adored for their fake selves.

and like do you want to think about how aizo and yujiro really aren't WRONG when they tell hiyori she has fallen for a guy just because he did an act of kindness that anyone would do for anyone and that she was romanticizing him because she wanted to meet a prince... but when they make her cry with their brutal honesty, they decide to make it up to her??? aizo and yujiro bring her to the park and get her a drink to help her calm down and aizo chin tilts her!!! and they declare that they're going to turn hiyori into cinderella and they go ALL OUT in supporting her!!! aizo literally plans strategy meetings and yujiro tries to get her clothes

i could ramble so much about how funny the heroine training plan scenes on the novel are. yujiro tries to get hiyori clothes and accidentally gets a bag full of cosplay. aizo sends hiyori to ask her crush's name and she comes back gushing about how her crush gave her a cough drop. yujiro eats the cough drop. aizo and yujiro correct hiyori's love letter for spelling mistakes. one time aizo makes a list of everything hiyori knows about her crush and it involves things like "anteater" and "hamster attack". hiyori's first attempt at confessing ends in disaster because yujiro and aizo start arguing and her crush's childhood friend shows up just to make the situation worse

but then!!! hiyori hears a police siren and kidnaps yujiro to protect him from another scandal but then!!! yujiro genuinely apologizes to her for ruining her confession!!! even though hiyori was just thinking about how his and aizos attempt to help her was ruined because her hair got messed up and she had to take off her shoes and "the magic wore off"... she laughs because she isn't mad at him at all. and then she goes to confess to her prince and they have a genuine conversation about how he can't date anyone because hes aiming to be an idol and hiyori smiles and promises to be his fan

and she returns to yujiro (who was WAITING FOR HER) to try and joke about how she was rejected and she ends up crying and he wipes her tears for her!!! he makes a joke about her crying face to make her laugh and walks her home!!!

like the original heroine training plan had so much! character growth and bonding and fairy tale motifs and funny scenes and wow!!! the hard-working cinderella got rejected by her prince but she can move on!!! her mean stepsisters turned out to be fairy godmothers who were supporting her... and she thinks of them as princely!!!

and also the scenes in it that get to me are like

hiyori gets a bracelet meant to help people find their true love... and it breaks when she's protecting yujiro but he GIVES IT BACK TO HER AND WISHES HER LUCK BEFORE SHE CONFESSES... she got rejected but she got closer to aizo and yujiro so who did the bracelet help her with?

aizo gives hiyori advice and it's cute and sweet and also so comical. he tells her that sometimes people hide who they are and she goes "i think you're easy to read though?" and aizo goes "NOT AS EASY AS YOU". his advice to hiyori on apologizing to yujiro is literally "just do it".

also do you want to think about how aizo gave hiyori the mean at first but became affectionate teasing nickname of "potato girl" but by the end of heroine training plan she tells him he can never call her that again... but he hasn't called her that for so long... also hiyori hugs him and tries to hug yujiro as thanks for helping her with the makeover

also what about the scene where hiyori fills in for an actress during a photoshoot and blushes madly at aizo and yujiro having to hug her in affectionate poses. she thought

Her MILK AND BREAD is building house, she is A CARPENTER, but she cant even think of building a window for her son??? Does she want him dead? asphyxion is a serious matter wtf and he lives in a basement? (thats okay, Sebastian likes the basement part, but he often voices his miscontent with having no windows) She also sit still in the face of her husband being controlling over her daughter... She is enabling abuse in exchange of comfort. Did she ever do any parenting ever? is the reason she married a second time, was to get a parent to take over the hassle she was never ready for???

Coming for Pam in second. Mother of one, Penny, an adult. Need i say more? She is irredeemable. Irresponsible. Lazy. Low-key narcissistic. Lost herself to an addiction. Doesnt show much care about Penny. Cares more about how others see her than Penny. The education she gave to Penny was in the purpose of Penny taking care of her instead of the opposite. She is verbally abusive and some fans even speculate that she is physically so. Not a mother in any way shape or form.

Third of, Jodi. Jodi Jodi Jodi... A pitiful woman, but still a bad mother. She still love her kids, but... She wasn't made for motherhood... Mother of Sam (adult ?) and Vincent (Kiddo) She hardly ever participate in taking care of the emotional and disciplinary needs of her kids, and she compensate by spoiling them with toys. Sam, he is a child with the age of an adult. Ans she is to blame... Vincent's mental growth is way worse than Sam's, its as if he has no actual mental stimulation aside from Penny's teachings :( She often complains about chores, but she doesn't realize that she could have given some responsibilities to Sam so that he could help her ToT Its a big part of discipline to give tasks and make the family work together. If you go talk to Vincent frequently, many times he would say that he was hungry... wtf Jodi.. what do you even do with your free time... I think i should also note that Jodi has no actual hobby to take her mind off of her miserable life aside from her little garden, and i'm not even sure what she even grows there... She has no life of her own, and she was forced into the mold of a mother, and she yearns for an escape... if only she had other ambitions, and an actual life outside of motherhood...

Evelyn coming at fourth! She is not bad at all! She is technically a mom, and she takes care of her Grandson Alex! A very loving caretaker! She is a strong willed woman, and doesn't let old age take her productivity down! She is kind to all, and very nurturing ! Genuinely loves and care for people. Finds the joy in the little things, and loves to share with others. No flaws are to be seen in the horizon, except her attachment to the past, which is a cute thing about her tbh xD We don't see her much being a mother, but Alex is relatively a good boy, and it truly shows how much influence she had on him, since he seriously needed that affection in his life But...If Alex wasn't broken by his father... would Evelyn's education be considered too laid back? and would have Alex grown spoiled? George is definitely not a healthy authority figure, so he wouldn't fill the gaps of discipline... Would Evelyn know how to be occasionally harsh without being damaging? It all works out thankfully X)

Best of all for last! Caroline! Mommy I wanna Ntr her so bad Caroline is often voicing her concern for Abigail when talking to the farmer. (Unlike the other direct moms) She truly cares for her daughter. She is just not used to Abigail's interests. And even in her argument with Abigail in the 6 heart event, she apologizes. It shows that, she isn't trying to be controlling, but rather that she is confused about the way her daughter acts and expresses herself. I personally believe that arguments with loved ones is a neutral thing, and that it is the intention of the party that decides whether it's a bad or good quarrel. Good quarrels usually reveals what the individual has to work on. And i think this was a good quarrel. Caroline was checking that Abigail was aware of the opportunities given to her, to make her grateful. It's discipline. And Abigail was asserting her individuality, and refusing to let others decide how she must look. She decides what she wears or does. Both listened to each other, and it was very satisfying tbh. Caroline is also the one person holding up the female population of Pelican town! She is healthy minded and bodied, and encourages other to be that as well, she invites the women to her home to exercise each week! She doesn't let go of her personal, social or Family responsibilities! +If she didn't exist, Jodi would have lost her mind At this point u_u All in all It requires to be a good person to be a good mother!

Heheee Penny is definitely an honorable mention. She took it upon herself to educate and teach the kids of Pelican Town! She is a very encouraging individual. And she is filling the gaps in the learning process of these kids... She basically, became the mother she wish she had...

If ducktales was still on going what would you like to see in season 4? Main theme of it? What path would you choose for Goldie, cause I'm assuming we all want more of Goldie

of course there'd be more Goldie! Allison Janney finished up with Mom and has more time for voice acting so Goldie can appear more often, lets do it

so obv my ideal scenario would be to take what we had of s3 and stretch it out into two seasons, BUT since thats not an option lets say we're starting right from where we left off. season 3 would need to do some fun stuff like:

awkwardly address Webby and Scrooge’s relationship (& Beakley's of course)

bring back Goldie and Louie's relationship and give us some good content

continue with the Darkwing Duck/Negaduck storyline

soooooo. okay. new big bad for season 4: Shere Khan (from Talespin)! he's a super corrupt business rival of Scrooge's. they dont work together often 'cause they're from very different parts of the world, but they've crossed paths a few times. Khan has decided that McDuck Enterprises has gotten in the way of his own business too many times and he's going to try and destroy Scrooge and ruin his business

he'd recruit some villains from other seasons who managed to escape to help him with his plans. people will do anything for money and he has a Lot of money

the big character arc would focus on Scrooge (with some Webby and Huey to make up for last season) and Scrooge learning to accept the flaws in the people he loves and just because their decisions don’t always make him happy doesn’t mean they don’t love him. or whatever something like that.

ok here ive put together every episode because i felt like it and i’m a completionist. i tried to make it seem like regular DuckTales except with a little bit more Goldie for my own joy and pleasure

(Plot A:) Scrooge and Webby and Beakley content. They just talk about things mostly (beakley apologizes for lying to webby and for not telling scrooge that webby was made by fowl. ‘you didnae know she was mine?’ ‘no, i had no idea, i just knew she shouldnt be raised by those criminals’) and they go on a tiny little adventure together. Ends with Webby deciding to continue to call Scrooge ‘Uncle Scrooge’ because ‘Dad’ feels weird for her (scrooge feels uncomfortable with her decision but doesnt bring it up cuz beakley tells him to leave it be).

(Plot B:) The villains who escaped from FOWL and are trying to get their shit back together 

Ep ends with quick scene of Shere Khan being annoyed while watching the news

4x02 - School of Ducks:** 

(Plot A:) School episode! Lena and Webby both learn about the joys of public school. Violet and BOYD are there, too. A cute ep with little school shenanigans. Maybe they all get detention or something. Also there's like short clips of all the adults doing boring adult things (cleaning, taxes, Della @ therapy with jones) while the kids are like "this is so boring I wish I was a grownup doing whatever I want!" and it'd be funny

4x03 - On the Open Sea: 

(Plot A:) Donald and Daisy & May and June on the open seas and they see the Mervanans and have fun boat adventures!

(Plot B:) Della & Penumbra get into some shenanigans in Duckburg and fight the Beagle Boys together and it’s kind of a double parallel to the Don/Daisy stuff and also referencing the Webby/Lena stuff from S1.

4x04 - First Contact With Khan:

(Plot A:) Scrooge is looking for a new money manager storyline ft Webby with a brief mention/appearance of Goldie (scrooge makes some reference to being webbys dad just to see how she reacts, she does not). Shere Khan contacts Scrooge about them merging or collaborating on something blah blah.

(Plot B:) Huey & Della travel to Grandma Duck’s farm to help Huey learn better ways to express himself? or maybe Huey wants to earn a farming badge lol

4x05 - Depends On Who You Ask:

(Plot A:) Fenton & M’ma are interviewing all of the captured F.O.W.L. agents about their roles in what happened, all of them tell wildly different stories about how innocent they are (captured people...Steelbeak, Rockerduck/Jeeves, Don Karnage).

(Plot B:) Webby goes camping with the Sabrewings!

Ep ends with Shere Khan paying Don Karnage’s bail. (Rockerduck also gets out of jail because of his own money, but Steelbeak is stuck for now)

4x06 - The Sounds of St. Canard:

(Plot A:) Launchpad and Dewey visit St Canard and there’s an adventure with Gosalyn and Drake where Negaduck/Jim shows up and goes cwazy (several dwd villain appearances, including morgana!).

(Plot B:) Muddlefoots being completely average normal citizens but they’re funny

Ep ends with the plots colliding when Honker and Gosalyn and Dewey meet and they all become buds

4x07 - The Duck Cousins:

(Plot A:) Huey Dewey Louie and Webby are getting into some shenanigans which reminds Scrooge of Della Donald Gladstone and Fethry. Cue an entire flashback episode about Della Donald Gladstone and Fethry as older teens! This episode includes: Duckworth, Quackfaster, the Caballeros, Goldie, & if you squnt there’s a brief appearance of Daisy.

4x08 - Another Tale to Spin:**

(Plot A:) Kit and Della have kept in contact since the end of S3 and he and Molly come to visit. They have some kind of crazy adventure involving flying or whatevs I’m sure it’s exciting also Beakley and Launchpad are there! 

(Plot B:) Baloo and Rebecca are on vacation and they’re staying at a hotel up in the Dawson area. Fun fact this is Goldie’s hotel and we get to learn a little bit about how Goldie lives her life away from Scrooge. 

Ep ends with Kit and Molly overhearing Scrooge talk about Shere Khan and they’re both like UHHH....

4x09 - The Midas Touch:

(Plot A:) Magica is attacking Scrooge, trying to get her hands on his dime. The episode involves a lot of standard characters and feels like it jumped right out of the comics/the 87 series (but with Della instead of Donald). The boys and Webby and Della are trying to help in the fight against Magica, but the Beagle Boys are making their way towards the Money Bin! The ep ends with Scrooge’s victory, and then Ludwig Von Drake closes a book and talks to the audience like ‘vell zat’s how I remember it!’

4x10 - It’s a Hard Knock Life:

(Plot A:) Glomgold and Gibbous try to recruit all the Moonlanders to work for Glomgold Industries and its a mess because obviously Penumbra knows about Glomgold thanks to Della. Also I think it’d be funny if one of the Moonlanders had a baby with an earthling. 

(Plot B:) Fenton and Gandra are showing Huey how to fight and they talk about being a little crime fighting team. 

Plots converge when Penumbra shoots a laser at Glomgold and accidentally sets a building on fire, so FGH show up to help.

4x11 - A Tale of Two Kitties:

(Plot A:) After the warnings from Kit and Molly, Scrooge feels weird about business with Shere Khan. Against his better judgement he reaches out to Goldie, who has also dealt with Khan before, and Goldie shows up and they tell a story about Shere Khan to Louie & Webby. 

(Plot B:) Shere Khan is telling the same story to his assistant & Don Karnage, but obviously it’s a very different version where he’s justified in everything he does. In his story, he breaks Splatter Phoenix out of prison (takes place in the 60s, Splatter Phoenix is old now).

4x12 - Just Another Day:**

(Plot A:) Takes place on the same day at 4x13. Huey, Violet & BOYD are having a giant multi-step relay race/battle/I don’t know/brains vs brawn thing against Dewey, Gosalyn, & Louie (Louie shouldn’t be brawn but he really doesn’t think HVB can win). It ends when Launchpad and Drake crash land in the middle of the field and announce that it’s time for Gosalyn to go home. 

(Plot B:)   A day in the life of Gyro Gearloose. From the perspective of Lil Bulb! Also the Rangers live in Gyro's lab currently so they show up too

4x13 - Just Another Day, The Musical!:

(Plot A:) Takes place on the same day as 4x12. Scrooge, Webby & Lena were on an adventure in some magical Crystal Cavern, meanwhile Fenton & Gandra are also at the Crystal Cavern but as a date. Also Goldie is at the Crystal Cavern because she heard Scrooge was going. Shenanigans happen and they all get split up: Goldie, Gandra & Lena on one side, Scrooge, Fenton & Webby on the other. Also it’s a musical episode where everyone sings except maybe Gandra, I think she’d be the character that refuses to sing until the end.

4x14 - Ladies On the Town:

(Plot A:) Matilda McDuck comes to town! Scrooge is busy so he asks Beakley and Quackfaster to show her a good time. It’s an old ladies episode. Hortense is brought up in detail. There’s some plot with bank robbery or guns or something really intense and funny and violent. 

(Plot B:) Scrooge publicly announces that McDuck Enterprises will no longer be working with Khan Industries. Khan saw this coming and takes it in stride, but also we find out that he’s broken Akita out of prison and is recruiting him for his own nefarious purposes.

4x15 - Homesick Seasick:

(Plot A:) Donald getting homesick, they get to south America and meet daisys sister Donna and her daughter April. they're hitting it off but Donald can't stop thinking about HDL when he watches the girls hanging out. 

(Plot B:) Gandra visits Steelbeak in prison. it's just an awkward time but we get some context for their relationship when they were in F.O.W.L. and Gandra says when he gets out maybe he could try being a good guy and he's like meh

4x16 - The McQuacks in St. Canard:

(Plot A:) Darkwing stuff with Negaduck. Drake finally adopts Gosalyn after they realize with full certainty that they're never getting her grandpa back. Some background St Canardians and DWD villains...Splatter Phoenix perhaps 

(Plot B:) Launchpad’s family is also there? Mcquack shenanigans in St Canard

4x17 - The Magic Man:

(Plot A:) Magica, Lena, Gene, Gladstone, Duckworth, & Djinn are all taken somewhere by Merlock. Gene has bad emotions about it because Merlock was one of his old terrible masters. Lots of magical emotions and Lena being a magical badass. 

(Plot B:) Phantom Blot and Pepper content but idk what they're doing. Probably wanting to plot but having no money so they have to get regular jobs. That’d be funny actually it’s all about them trying to hold down normal retail/office jobs

4x18 - Not Just the Klondike:

(Plot A:) Valentine’s Day ep!!! Lena and Violet come over and Violet’s like “I promised Hubert we’d hang out” but she’s lying actually she’s just trying to give Webby and Lena some alone time. She joins HDL and finds Huey begging Scrooge to tell the story of how he and Goldie first met. She’s interested, Dewey’s interested, Louie’s pretending not to be interested but he’s listening in. 

(Plot B:) Lena has something to tell Webby but then they see Beakley sneaking out and obv Webby thinks it’s a date so they follow her! Along the way they pass by lots of couples like Fenton/Gandra and Launchpad/Drake and Della/Penumbra and then in the end they find Beakley visiting a grave. Beakley’s like ‘my daughter, the woman who i told you was your mother, was born on feb 14 so this is where i always go’ and then Webby and Lena and Beakley just kind of sit together and it’s somber, very different from the Scrooge n Goldie shenanigans

4x19 - Good to Have You Back:

(Plot A:) Donald and Daisy return from their boat trip! May and June aren’t with them, they talk about how they really hit it off with Daisy’s sister so they’re going to stay with her for a bit and try going to school where no one knows who Scrooge McDuck is, then they can come back to Duckburg for the summer. Flashes over to Donna and May and June and Donna’s daughter April hanging out. 

(Plot B:) Akita is working in his brand new lab financed by Shere Khan. His lab assistant is...Sara Bellum? But she’s not a villain! Or is she? What’s going on? Le gaaaassspppp, we just don’t know! But she’s definitely acting a little off. Very cooperative. Shere Khan comes in to observe a few times. He blasts Don Karnage at some point who starts acting like a monkey and being generally weird

4x20 - Dewey’s Day Off:     

(Plot A:) Dewey gets in trouble and can’t go with the rest of the family on some trip, but somehow ends up spending the entire day with Boyd. They have a lot of fun and bond over literally everything and his punishment ends up not being much punishment at all lol  

(Plot B:) Magica uses Bradford-bird and a lot of resources and blahblah using time travel she ends up finding Poe and brings him to the future. She tries to change him back to a duck but he only gains the ability to talk, not to do magic or anything. Now Magica has two cool birds

Plots don’t converge but there’s some visual parallels

4x21 - Sharp Luck:

(Plot A:) Goldie and Louie and Gladstone. I'm thinking Goldie needed Louies help for something and either she tells a story about getting Gladstones help in the past or Gladstone runs into them and they all work together. And Goldie wears green! 

(Plot B:) Fethry and Gyro and Gandra and Fenton are doing sciencey things together. 

Ep ends where Gyro finds out Akita is no longer in prison and then the screen fades over to Akita’s lab where we see him doing bad shit

4x22 - Musings of a Bengal Tiger: 

(Plot A:) All about Shere Khan, how he became who he is. Some of his history with Scrooge and Baloo and Rebecca and the previous Don Karnage, but mostly focused on Shere.

4x23 - Of Ducks, Dimes, and Destinies:

(Plot A:) Beginning on the end. Shere and Akita use mind control ray to gradually make all the people in Scrooge’s life go absolutely bonkers. They’re all acting in ways they should not. Scrooge’s stockholders start pulling out of the company and Scrooge is losing money FAST. They did not use the mind control ray on Scrooge ‘cause they want to make sure he’s fully aware of whats happening. Glomgold is super excited about becoming the richest duck in the world but then Shere Khan comes into Duckburg and Glomgold realizes Shere Khan is richer than him. Shere Khan references their bet from S2 and says he didn’t care about it nor is he a duck so....”go away, worm” and Glomgold slinks away angrily

4x24 - Of Ducks, Dimes, and Destinies: 

(Plot A:) Scrooge and Huey and Webby work together to find out how to fix everyone. Gyro becomes the Mad Ducktor. Goldie is like NegaGoldie. Donald is Paperinik/Duck Avenger. Della thinks shes a successful astronaut. Then suddenly Huey is the Duke of Making a Mess. There’s a whole bunch of these, you get it. They cant fix everyone til Akita’s device is destroyed. The device did not work on Boyd so hes helping too and there’s some Boyd and Gyro emotions

4x25 - Of Ducks, Dimes, and Destinies:** 

(Plot A:) Talespin cast help out (also Steelbeak because he should come back around). How does the end go??? Uhhh everything goes back to normal and Shere Khan is outed for cruelty and villainy and hurting children maybe. Something about loving and accepting people as they are. This becomes a big Scroldie thing but also ties to Scrooge being a little put off by Webby not wanting to call him Dad in the first episode 

Season ends with a lot of hugs and talking and then Goldie introduces Scrooge to Dickie this kind of goes into the honesty/accepting people thing lol Goldie’s like “if you want something to accept then boy do i have a treat for you”

The general who became a father to his soldier (spoilers for rwby v8 ch13)

Personal impressions:

I was so mad last week, thinking IW would have been defeated already/too soon but they tricked us. And I'm so glad it's a Winter vs. Ironwood fight. And the emotions.... I can't.

He was her father figure and I'm sure it was viewed like that from both sides. We were clearly shown what IW would do if anyone was in his way. Even when she disobeyed he didn't shoot her. He trusted her until the last moment.... We saw him get mad, break down and hopeless. But never cry. It's not just any soldier he's fighting. He's fighting his right hand. Winter Schnee, someone who was like a daughter to him.

But let's get to their actual relationship.

An essay on Winter in RWBY is planned btw.

Winter seems to have the highest rank in the military next to Ironwood, which is impressive for her age and shows her determination but also how IW believes in her

In V4 Jacques claimed that IW "stole his daughter" and IW hinted at that they often had this conversation

In V7 Jacques asked IW if Winter knew that Weiss returned to Atlas

From the point of V2 and V3 it seems that Winter still had contact to Jacques but not as much anymore in V7, something happened and I think because of the dust embargo IW and Jacques had their confrontation and Winter obviously chose IW's side and detached from her father completely

(It was always hinted (and I think even stated in the remnant guide book) that Winter protected her siblings and had to take the most abuse. And you can clearly see that by her type of fight or flight trauma and how she's literally supposed to represent the ice queen with her hidden emotions and stuff

You see her in that state of shock, fear, panic, trauma etc. when she realizes that she failed Ironwood. He was proud of her for catching Yang, Ren and Jaune and put his hand on her since they would be useful. Harriet then told him and I think this represents how someone like IW would be able to hurt her that much emotionally since he is in the position of an authority and a father figure to her)

Also he was ready to shoot his people at any time like the council man or Marrow but he didn't shoot her and allowed her to stay by her side

That and how she defends IW most of the time show how she trusts her judgment, IW trusts her judgement as well as seen in V4 when he told Jacques that Winter told him that there was a threat in Mistral

In World of Remnant we see IW walking past soldiers and Winter standing out. It was about the technical grooming of atlas students to join the military but you can tell from what we know of Ironwood, that he has a good heart (eruption fang made a vid on that recently)

When Winter told Weiss that "the general would have a place for you" She said it with such happiness, atlas and the military was winter's new home and IW gave her the chance to repurpose her life

She even defended IW in front of Jacques, her biological father and she takes great personal offense when his judgement is mistreated. Even when Weiss talked about trust Winter said that he would never hide anything from her

The offer with the Winter Maiden... You could say that he did this to control her and I'd accept your opinion... But there's one thing that makes me think that he still obviously also cared for her. Over the years he knew how much the military meant to her. She even told Penny that her life doesnt matter and only her job does. It means everything to her and like Winter said herself, she saw the Maiden powers as a privilege and it makes me feel like Ironwood saw them as something that would make her unique and give her once again a purpose that is unique to her and not just her being one of many soldiers

He even apologized, knowing it wouldn't be easy for her (since he expected Winter and not Ozcar) and when he had his talk with RWBY he called Winter her/Weiss' sister instead of just her name and idk but that just made this even more special

In Volume 8 it is once again shown how Winter is basically the one who also trusted Ironwood until the end. And in ch 12 she didnt judge him... She expressed her worries for his behavior. She couldn't believe the man who made her feel like she was everything would ever become so cruel

They way their worry for each other looks so similar

And while I know that they have a theme for the Atlas military , I think it's obvious how Winter looked even more like IW in all her outfits compared to the rest of the military

Many people think Ironwood is dumb for over trusting Winter but I think it shows his flaw as a general. He let's his emotions get in the way since he cares about her and continues to trust her even though she disobeyed orders

His last words were "As my last order: step aside", he could've just shot her again as she layed defenseless on the ground but he didn't

Remember how in the first episode he said "Thank you Winter, I don't know what I would do without you"

Right before, she said that she'll be fine without him asking anything. It sounds a little more personal in my opinion. Why would you tell your boss that you'll be fine without him asking about your status? the conversation was literally about Qrow and Robyn before but he looked worried and wanted the room for themselves and she immediately said that.

Some people also talk about how they emphasized with Ironwood in volume 7 since wasn't shown to have family or a partner yet would do anything for Atlas. But again, he did care about Winter a lot and wanted her to be save.

Something I also noticed when writing this is that in volume 3 Ironwood called her Schnee yet in V7 he calls the Ace Ops and her via first name basis. Clover said that he trusts Ironwood with this life and I think that's how Winter and the Ace ops felt about him, the person who gave them hope. Especially Winter.

And now we're here. Seeing the man cry a tear. We know now, if Winter wins, she has to kill him. Imprisoning him wasn't enough. And I think that will be her final moment of her being a "Ice Queen", when she has to kill him, she will probably turn to her emotional side and grieve.

As mentioned, the military, her position, her rank and Ironwood meant everything to her. She talked so enthusiastically when she had her conversation with Weiss about moving in together without their father and how IW has a place for her younger sister. And now along with Ironwood, both are in a situation they never thought they'd be in.

That was it from me. In short form , I just wanted to share some ideas and things I've noticed about their relationship and dynamic. None of this is meant as a romantic way and you can of course disagree but please stay respectful. Thank you and we'll see each other next chapter<3

i loved how this last arc was so centered around non-chan!!!!!!!! it rly felt like we finally got to where it all started

the story did a wonderful job in showing how hananoi changed thru the series, while at the same time not shying away from also showing he still struggles and fucks up

like. his confrontation with non-chan highlighted all of his flaws. ALL of them.

how single-minded he is. how unforgiving he is. how awfully he can treat others bc he thinks theyr a nuisance/an obstacle 4 his and hotaru’s happiness. how obsessed he is w hotaru and hotaru only, and how this, and his desire for a relationship in which they are both the most important person to each other, ends up working against him. even if at the end of the day he truly wishes for her happiness and well-being, he can’t help but dumping way too much on her because he only cares about her. by only considering her happiness and prioritizing her above everyone and everything (including himself), hes actually being selfish. hes hurting her.

and literally all of this stems from his trauma. he has this deep, deep rooted insecurity complex. he’s never enough for other ppl. no matter what he does, how he looks, what he feels, hes just not good enough to be loved. to be prioritized by others.

this gets even worse after witnessing what happened between hotaru and non-chan when they were kids. not being able to do anything, he ended up feeling truly worthless. his desire to be someone’s number 1 remained, but the painful belief that deep down he just wasn’t cut to be loved, that they would leave them at the end because he doesnt deserve to be loved, holded him back from truly getting that he wanted.

hes just always so hard on himself, unable to forgive himself for what he did. unable to believe someone will truly accept him for who he is and love him. not leave him.

and he constantly, and violently, projects this insecurity on other people, and its actually fucking hard to watch. whn hes saying he can’t forgive non-chan for hurting hotaru, hes actually saying he can’t forgive himself as well. how dare she get close to hotaru, after what he did?? (and how dare he, after what he did?)

but at the end of this arc... he apologizes to her. because cornering non-chan like that ended up hurting hotaru, which is what he was trying to avoid ((note that he still doesnt forgive her tho)).

the thing is.. hananoi is constantly jealous and insecure bc hotaru has other ppl she cares abt besides him. this is a very hard pill to swallow, and also the very premise of this series. hotaru has many other ppl she loves in her life, while hananoi doesnt have anyone BUT hotaru (according to him), so everyone except hotaru is either unimportant or part of the competition. thats why he so hostile towards everyone; its not that he thinks he is superior. on the contrary, hes afraid to lose to them.

(not to mention by acting so cold hes clearly giving ppl reasons to not get close to him from the very beginning. he even says it himself: hes gone out w every single girl that confessed 2 him because “if shes capable of confessing 2 someone like me, she must be a very kind person”. even when hes trying his best to meet his soulmate, hes showing his worst side from the start, in hopes whoever approaches him already knows how bad he is. its a doomed relationship bc he sets it up to fail (not 2 mention all the toxic shit he does afterwards lol).

for this same reason he also kinda sucks at hiding his hostile behaviour towards hotaru’s friends from hotaru herself, to the point someone mentions this to him, asking if he didnt even think they would tell hotaru. of course he did. deep down, hes just hoping to give her reasons to dump him. hes sabotaging himself).

so at the beginning of the series he tolerates the ppl close to hotaru (only tolerates, still fearful). bc the hotaru he loves is someone that loves others, cares about others, and helps others. thats when shes the happiest. she would not be hotaru if she wasnt like that. he already knew this, so he bears with it.

non-chan was very important to hotaru, as well. and bc shes hotaru, even after getting hurt badly by her, she still doesn’t wish for anything bad to happen to non-chan. that will actually hurt hotaru more.

but thats not the only reason why hananoi regrets what he did to non-chan..... and this is very important:

non-chan hurt hotaru because shes very similar to hananoi. because she felt too deeply and couldnt put herself in hotarus shoes, who didnt. hananoi sees himself in non-chan, and thats the reason why he dislikes her so much and wants her to get away from hotaru. why he cant forgive her.

but during his apology, its obvious that he can now feel sympathy for her as well. he understands why shes like that. and even if he cant forgive her, he seems to think she still deserves happiness. and he even gives her advice bc he can see what shes lacking.

by the point he meets non-chan again, he’s not completely over his trauma (and dare i say probably neither him or hotaru will ever be), but he’s not the same guy from chapter one. he’s changed, bc he’s gone through A LOT: in pursuit of his goal, hes met so many new people; got close to them, close enough to consider them friends bc they are great people, and he likes them and (shockingly for him) he found out that they liked him back.... hes.... hes likable... even after they get to know how weird he is. they want to be around him, hang out w him, be there for him when he needs help! how messed up is that???????

so hes not only fully recognizing he messed up for hurting non-chan... after apologizing, hes just beginning to finally understand that his own actions hurt hotaru because HE is important to HER (which despite everything, he still has a hard time believing). she doesnt want him 2 act like that bc she cares abt him. holy fuck!!!!!!! its almost as if he is... actually deserving of being loved by others....

when he says to non-chan that she was the person hotaru (the most important person to him) liked the most, hes telling her exactly that. thats shes lovable, in spite of what she thinks of herself.

relationships w other ppl can hurt us. thats what hananoi knows. but they also nurture us, fill us with joy, make us grow. that is what hes still learning. what he is starting to see. and hes actually enjoying it, even if sometimes its (very) hard for him.

10 Anti LO Asks

1. LO also completely fell off the amazon lists so?? idk i was under the impression with all the exclusive merch and how hard they were pushing it for literal months surely it would have gotten farther. maybe most of the readers didnt want to buy one copy and then ANOTHER copy for another cover and just knew it wasnt worth it when they could just read it for free anyway? like its basically a collector item and i think they overshot not realizing the fans arent book collectors.

2. im no publisher but i think the webtoons team kinda fucked up on this book. they split it between hardback and paperback, so that automatically splits sales, but they also made a B&N exclusive cover, so that splits sales again, but then they kept adding pins and signed nameplates (???) that people ended up cancelling preorders and maybe forgot to reorder so no wonder it sort of tumbled?? plus its a niche product anyway that most would rather read on their phones for free. What a mess.

3. tbh lo persephone just ... isnt a character. shes the best at everything, everyone loves her, the narrative always excuses her, she has no flaws and every problem she causes it just hand-waved or blamed on someone else. every other character only exists to love her, excuse her, or be punished for not kissing her feet. she has no goals or ambitions or hobbies, much less a real place in the story, she just exists.

4. Maybe I'm too simplistic, but I do think it's possible to write HxP where Persephone can love Hades AND Demeter. I'm just sad LO is following that same trend of making their relationship cruel and abusive with Persephone wanting nothing to do with her and revolving her world solely around Hades. Though this time it comes with Hades also being just as cruel to Demeter off his weird Kingly entitlement Rachel seems to think is charming over off-putting.

5. lets be frank here. persephone didnt start suddenly looking more mature, rachel just made all the woman now all just look as young as persephone to give the fake allusion shes actually not a baby faced teenager. she still looks and acts like a child.  shes actually gotten worse in both regards since s2 started.

6. Ik this is stupid but I find ir funny how Hestia, Athena and Artemis in the trial arc are dressed si ugly they look like they're going to church instead of an "important event" like judging a goddess for conspiracy and mass murder

7. i know LO doesnt really try to be remotely accurate but the "queen" look for persephone is just insultingly removed from greek elements. an aureole effect would be a nice touch, but instead its just some generic pink pouty woman with red eyes that blend into her skin and shes just in a cheep looking stick tiara and a boring black dress that of course has to show off her breasts. its supposed to be this regal look to the dread queen but it just looks like a rushed halloween costume instead.

8. Lo popularity made me so... Disappointed? I thought we are living in a world where feminists achieved more than that. Come on story about a barely adult naive girl getting together with an old capitalist douche with a big power imbalance would never be progressive nor feminist no matter how you write it. Up to this day I can't understand how people can like this narrative and how can they not see all the obvious issues! Just because it's labeled as feminist it doesn't mean it is, open your eyes

9. I have the feeling as if LO in more concerned of the aesthetics than actual plot. I'm not sure how to word it better. I mean its something New. It can also be good like doing visual metaphores to Show something when dialogue isn't good enough.

10. pt.1 I immediately want to apologize for the mistakes, I don't know English well, because I'm from Russia. I really love reading your blog and I agree with many opinions. I would like to share my opinion about Mint and Hades. Hades just kept her by his side because no one wanted to be with him and reveled in his own insignificance. As soon as Persephone appeared on the horizon, he refused Mint as easily as the nymph who worked with him ... 

pt2. (the episode in which Mint came to Hades to sort out the office about the cap). I understand that they had an unhealthy relationship, but damn, it could have been played out differently. Many fans of LO repeat about the truthfulness of myths, but only in the case in which Mint will be humiliated and crushed.

pt3. And what about the wonderful baby Megara? Didn't Hades realize that she was in love with him? What prevented him from trying to start a relationship with her? Not everyone is attracted to their future partner right away, they could gradually develop their relationship and learn a lot from them.

her "kindness" thing.. every single example of this is naruto. her teammates, kiba and shino, are relentlessly loyal as shown in many fillers, as well as in the chuunin exams where hinata cheered for naruto and gave him the medicine first as opposed to her own teammate. all of her "kind" moments are either basic common decency, or her blushing and stuttering i guess, or theyre directed to naruto. not even to mention neji, who despite hinata and her father not doing anything at all to change the branch family system, had to APOLOGIZE FIRST?? for BEING UPSET???? OVER HIS DAD DYING AS A KID FOR THIS AND HIM ALSO BEING ENSLAVED???????

she benefits from her family name! she is completely fucking privileged!!! the chunin exams ive seen SO many arguments for her, oh she was going to die oh the match was over YEAH THATS THE THING THEYRE ALLOWED TO DO THAT??? THEYRE ALLOWED. TO KILL EACH OTHER. YET FOUR JONIN CAME TO STOP THE MATCH.

she follows naruto around, watching him in EVERYTHING HE DOES, with an intense case of hero worship of this other kid whos had a much less privileged life than her, and thats... kind of it. its said that naruto married her because she was his first supporter, but if you think about it.. what did she do tho?? again, she is weak physically so standing up to his bullies may not have been possible, but she didnt even bother like. emotional support or something i dont know. she just watched from afar blushing about how cool naruto-kun is. thats it. what use is this fucking "support" he didnt even know she existed. he was just a shining light so she could feel idk inspired by his pain as she sat around and watched.

sasuke also watched naruto from a young age, but that was reciprocated. naruto also felt some sort of connection w him, and also sasuke actually acknowledged him after a while? thats the thing. sasuke made the first moves in their "bond", with the food offering despite it being a major risk to his entire life goal, the bridge arc, all that. and he also felt pain. he knew how naruto felt. im not saying hinatas life was all sunshine and rainbows, but it also canonically is not nearly as bad as people seem to think it is? her father is not abusive in the text. hinata herself is in fact physically weak and was insecure over that. her 5 years younger sister beat her in battle to become the next clan head. neji, as a branch member, members who are not given any sort of training or anything of the sort, SELF TAUGHT HIMSELF to become one of the best genin in that generation.

she lost because she is physically weak and there is nothing to do about that. she just isnt the best choice for a clan head and thats that? thats literally it? then she watches naruto and decides shes going to become strong like him or soemthing like GIRL WHY DO YOU THINK YOURE STILL WEAK. you didnt put in ANY of the work for the longest time you just watched. naruto. and even so, there are other areas. you are not good at this. she is the damsel in distress and thats it. its not like she really cares either, pissing herself blushing whenever naruto even walks by 😑

So i have some unpopular opinions; i feel like Dutch doesnt sleep around as much as people would like to think. He probably likes the fact that people think that of him, even if its not his style. Also...i dont think Dutch and Molly have any chemistry.

Howdy! (ASK 1 OF 2)

I apologize it took me some time to actually reply to this, especially because it is such a great ask! I definitely agree with both points made here, but I was debating how I wanted to write a response (and how far to take it).

Anyway, I'm open to hearing unpopular opinions! I know I have plenty of my own, so I'm not really one to judge others (as long as there is mutual respect) ☺️

My response is fairly long, and it deals with some sensitive topics. I decided to add a cut to this first ask, just to be safe! 💜💜💜

(Warning: SPOILERS below)

In regard to Dutch sleeping around, there are a few reasons why I don’t think he does it as much as it is often implied/assumed (I’m primarily limiting this to the timeframe of RDR2, Ch. 1-6).

First of all, Molly explicitly says Dutch doesn’t show her a lot of physical attention, even though he is her SO. If he’s not sleeping with her much, I doubt that he is going around with any other women at this time. He seldom leaves camp, outside of doing missions, so it is unlikely that he would meet up with anybody not in the gang. It just doesn’t seem plausible to me, as it would put him in a vulnerable position.

Dutch complains multiple times - including to Molly - that he is under stress and concerned about the Pinkertons closing in on them. Why would he go around outside the camp sleeping with random women? It would put him at the risk of being seen or reported on, and I believe he is smarter than to take on the unnecessary danger. Generally, he doesn’t spend much time in civilized areas, unless he needs to.

Not to mention, stress can be a real inhibitor of sex drive. For the entirety of the game, Dutch exhibits various degrees of anxiety and depression. I believe the gang and his personal safety were of much more concern to him, thus diminishing his interest in sex.

Speaking of the gang, I don’t personally see Dutch as sleeping around with the women in it that much. He did have a relationship with Susan in the past. Whether anything was still going on between them or not is uncertain, but if there was something, it probably was not serious or very frequent. In RDR1, he also suggests that he slept with Abigail, but if this happened, I doubt it would have occurred during the events of RDR2. They hardly ever interacted, and when Abigail did talk about Dutch, it was almost always in a negative manner. Dutch also showed some interest in Mary-Beth. However, I don’t think it went beyond flirting. She didn’t show much interest in him, and I think word would have gotten around if he tried to force anything, especially to Arthur (I am not going to discuss the events of RDR1 in any more detail here because that is a whole different conversation). But other than them, who else in the gang? There were not enough interactions with other women to suggest there was anything between them and Dutch.

Also, sex was considerably more risky in 1899 than it is today, and the means of contraception were not as dependable. For instance, The Pill didn’t go onto the market for another 60 years, and it was more difficult to get ahold of other birth control methods. This was partly because there were not as many technological advancements in this field and because there were a few laws that prevented reliable access to contraceptives (ex: The Comstock Laws). Condoms were arguably one of the easier birth control methods to find, but they still were not as widely available then as they are today (the quality was arguably not as good either). As I understand it, some searching was generally required to get ahold of condoms (usually in more civilized areas, which Dutch tried to avoid).

Dutch is a very contradictory character. My point in bringing up birth control is because although on some level I think Dutch probably would have liked to have actual children, I do not think he was serious enough about it to take any risks that might have led to an unwanted pregnancy during the timeframe of RDR2. As I mentioned, he was under a lot of stress with the gang. A biological child on top of that most likely would have overwhelmed him, and it would have required a long-term commitment to not only the child, but to the mother as well. I believe Dutch was smart enough to recognize this danger, and since birth control methods were not as widely available or reliable, he would not have wanted to sleep around too much (unwanted pregnancies were relatively common during this era).

I’ve written in the past that I believe Dutch had a certain degree of self-consciousness underneath his pride, so I do agree that he probably would have liked people finding him attractive or seductive. These traits emanate a sense of power and confidence, which would have provided a more favorable presentation of himself to others. These perceptions certainly would have helped to conceal his own self-doubts and insecurities, so he would have welcomed them, rather than try to refute them.

Now, in regard to the chemistry between Dutch and Molly, I agree. I think it was a pretty bad relationship all around. I don’t see its flaws as being entirely one-sided.

I will get into this a little more on the next ask, but I will discuss a few things here first.

Starting with Dutch, I will admit that he could have treated Molly a lot better. Even if he wasn’t happy with her or the status of their relationship, he should have seriously talked to her more. She deserved that, at the very minimum. There were a few instances where she tried to get his attention, and he just brushed her off. Again, like I said, even if he wasn’t very keen on the relationship anymore, he should have at least been honest about that. Then, as I already discussed, he had some mildly flirtatious conversations with Mary-Beth. I certainly do not think this helped matters. It was rude the way he insulted Molly for bringing up his interactions with Mary-Beth and how he pretended he had no idea what Molly was talking about.

Onto Molly, I don’t think she was perfect either. I know Dutch didn’t talk with her nearly as much as he should have, but she didn’t seem to show a whole lot of support for him in return. Dutch expressed that he was feeling stressed and not up to much physical activity, to which she got quite upset. She seemed to turn some arguments towards herself and her needs, with little regard for Dutch’s wellbeing. I do think she was selfish for demanding him to give her something he did not want to give/could not provide. Also, she refused to help the gang find leads or assist with chores, even when told to do so by others (ex: Dutch and Arthur). She tended to act above everybody else, claiming she wasn’t a servant to the needs of the gang as a whole. Though I can respect her sense of independence in that regard, it did show a sense of entitlement. Even Dutch donated to the gang funds, and as the leader, he was the one responsible for overseeing the vast majority of missions they engaged in. Molly was the only person who really did not contribute much. (Side note: Even UNCLE - the laziest bastard in the West - helped with leads and contributions!!)

I will get into this more in the following ask, but although I know she loved Dutch to an extent, I think part of her fascination with him was rooted in infatuation. Little is known about her background, but it is canon that she came from a wealthy and influential family in Ireland. I think part of the reason why she liked Dutch so much was because of the powerful position he held. She frequently lashed out at people who she perceived as challenging the reality of her “love” for him, such as Abigail and Karen. In one instance, Molly even went so far as to slap Karen across the face because she thought Karen was talking negatively about her. There was no evidence to prove or disprove Molly’s beliefs, but it did show that she was pretty sensitive about criticism (whether it was perceived or real) in regard to her relationship with Dutch.

Now, Dutch was wrong to use Molly’s fascination with him and his role in the gang to seduce her. But like I said, both of them had their issues. It was just a bad situation from both sides, and I do not think it should have happened in the first place. I don’t necessarily blame one more than the other. To be honest, I think they each deserved someone who fit them better.

And if I am being even MORE honest, I think Dutch should have stayed with Susan. She loved him, and he made a big mistake in ever giving her up. I believe the events of RDR2 would have turned out very differently, had he kept her closer.

(Ending note: Outside of serious posts - like this one - I know I make quite a few jokes about Dutch on my blog in regard to sexuality, but I do not mean for much of what I say in that regard to be taken *too* seriously. I don’t particularly want to discuss my personal life in the text of this post, but I will say that even if Dutch was a person I knew in real life, I’m not sure I would seriously want anything to happen between us. However, that is another matter entirely that has nothing whatsoever to do with him. I absolutely LOVE his character to death, and my blog will remain dedicated to his role in the RDR story for as long as I am around! That is all that should matter!!!)

Also, it is perfectly fine and normal to separate fiction from reality! It is okay to alter interpretations of Dutch (and/or Molly) for the sake of artistic expression, as long as the reasons can be justified. Furthermore, it is fine to disagree with me!!

The last thing about sign of four I do need to address is yeah, there's the Horrific Amounts Of Racism in that one and the whiplash hearing it is just ridiculous because they seem to be so knowledgeable in all other areas and fairly... politically correct, taking sherlock's original misogyny as a purposeful character flaw, but then they just mention someone indigenous once and suddenly its all parrotting racist propaganda and just... really awful shit. There's no way I'm gonna speak for the group that just got absolutely hate crimed here but anyone can tell the author just has no clue what he's fucking talking about and it's physically painful.

I agree with the quote that anon suggested. jungkook is literally a man! that you can dream of. I'm not talking about looks! he is a gentleman, respects everyone, kind, generous, simple, he is very well brought up by his family, even in spite of his money and rich parents who usually have spoiled nasty children. he is a real man who has his own clear-cut personality and he is confident in himself, who is also not capable of low deeds and abominations. I hope I was able to understand a little about his character. he is very pleasant to me from the first chapter.

hi bub ✨ i would agree with your characterisation of jungkook! ive actively tried to make him the opposite of the spoiled rich fratboy!! i thought that would be a fun little twist! plus, it also shows how judgemental oc is!!

i would say though that jungkook has his flaws too! for example, he tends to be a bit emotional? (cant think of a better word rn) what i mean is that he sometimes acts out without thinking much,, you see that in the scene when he yanks back oc after she stormed out of the café and raises his voice at her. ofc he immediately apologises, but it still shows that he sometimes lets his emotions get the best of him! he also tends to toe the line between worrying about oc and babying her!! think back to the latest chapter when he repeatedly offered to take oc home even though she has made it clear that she wants to stay. obviously, he only wants her to be comfortable, but i think he sometimes forgets that oc is an adult too. he also does/says a lot of dumb shit! like when he asks oc if she knows who he is the first time they met, or when he admits to her that he would have just given her money as an apology when he dragged her to meet his friends without talking to her beforehand in the second chapter. not sure if you could classify this as a flaw necessarily—i guess it would depend on how you see this—but jungkook is also definitely a people pleaser, and doesnt really address it when he feels hurt! i mean i guess that became rather obvious in the last chapter, right?

but again, i would agree with your characterisation !! jungkook is definitely in many ways the perfect guy, but at the same time he has his weak moments/flaws!! but honestly that just makes him so much better imo 💕

I hope i'm not making it worse for anon but i wanna advise that if leaving a fandom is too much, slow withdrawal or limit your time and attention for them could do some good. Choose only what matters most to you. For now tho, consider taking a step back from social media and dont read about the issues till you feel more prepared.

I'm speaking as someone who has formed an emotional connection with 127, tho i try to be moderate with my feelings. i'm a casual listener of other subunits, so i don't know if my suggestions can help you completely with your issue but i've seen how affected weishennies/ppl who follow all subunits closely are. I'm not specifically promoting solo stanning and unit stanning. Everyone has the right to do it or not do it as long as they don't turn into akgae attacking other neos. But my experience is that I used to try to keep up with all subunits but all the fandom fights made it tiring so i started to focus only on 127. Its ok to only focus on what you love the most to protect yourself while being happy for other subunits success.

That doesnt mean i'm unfazed about LC issue. I feel bad for Wayv. Tho I dont follow LC closely, I was still shocked even tho i keep in mind all the time that no one knows any idol for real. I'm not accusing LC of "everything" since no one can absolutely confirm to what extent he did it but some of the evidence cant be denied, so i believe there's at least some grain of truth. This is where we should try to accept it. You can take it slow. If you're very affected, this is a sign that you should take a step back from social media and like user dojae-huh suggested, consult professionals or at least, talk to someone you can trust.

What about 127 and the emotional connection we have with them? What if something similar happened with them? Imo, it's rare for us to not feel any emotional connection with idols and i would be heartbroken too if something like this happened to my faves. But i can only say again that it's important to always bear in mind that we really know no one personally and ppl can change or something unfortunate can also happen anytime.

Personally I trust they are good friends from what i see. I also agree with user dojae-huh that it's hard to completely fake everything but i acknowledge that there are fights and makeups that we'll never know about, just like all of us humans. Don't we all fight with our closest friends sometimes? If we dont fight, we still have some things we dont like/disagree with them and vice versa. It's normal. No one likes everything about others. What matters is how they deal with their differences. But imo, if 127 really can't stand one another, i don't think any of them will go such length for one another for many times all these years. Same goes for Wayv and Dreamies. Even with the LC issue, it seems near impossible to me that everyone hates each other's guts and fakes everything.

What about idol personalities then. I'm sorry for bringing other idols into this but you can take RV irene as example. She was criticized for not speaking kindly to staff but then some other staff came to defend her. She did apologize and promise to be more careful. Once again some truths can be shocking but not everything is a lie. This example cant compare to LC's supposedly more severe case but i used it to show you that as long as it's not something criminal or immoral, we should wait for proofs and see how the idols improve themselves. Hold them accountable but give them chance, even if you feel your image is shattered, when it's not a huge issue.

No idol is perfect and all groups have fought. That's a fact. Time will tell us their overall personalities and dynamics, if everything is a lie or if they are partly flawed, just like us all.

I think you already know what i said deep down in your heart but after taking a social media break and deciding what's best/how much is best for you, these truths will become clearer. For now i believe your first step should be refrain from reading about some issues and consult with others.

I still haven't read anything on Lucas, so I don't know what are the "real proof" you are talking about. I will only remind everyone that: a) pictures can be easily photoshopped, deep fake technology allows to make "deep fake" videos as well. If you saw last Star Wars you've seen how Leya was present despite the actress' death. Actors are now "play" in an advertisement without setting a foot onto the shooting location. All they need to do is sell the right to thw uae of their face. b) people tell a story from their viewpoint, which can be wrong, biased.

i really hate when people say that azula shouldnt get a redemption arc. like i get that not every villain or bad guy deserves one, but azula absolutely does.

before i get into it, it want to say that im not very good at putting my thoughts into words, so i apologize if any of this is hard to understand or is worded poorly. its not completely cohesive or coherent but i just really need to get my thoughts out.

there are a few things that are vital to remember about azula: shes fourteen, shes a victim of abuse and shes mentally ill in a way that is very frequently demonized.

im not saying that these things excuse any of her actions. they dont but these things provide important context as to why she does what she does. shes still under the thumb of her abusive father and shes only fourteen.

ever since azula was very young she’s had to deal with both ozai and ursas abuse. ursa openly disliked, maybe even hated, azula. theres one particular scene in zuko alone where ursa says “what is wrong with that child” within azulas earshot, as azula is running past her and that might not seem like a lot but as someone who has had to deal with similar things its fucking awful and i struggle to believe that thats the only time something like that happened. its obvious that ursa cares more for zuko than azula, and its obvious that iroh(more on him later) also cares more for zuko. 

the only adult that azula has is ozai, so it makes sense that she wants to be exactly what he wants her to be. she does what he wants and acts how he wants her to act. theres a lot more than can be said about azula and ozai but im not going to because its not necessarily important to whether or not azula deserves a redemption (thats not to say that its unimportant to azula and her character, its obviously extremely important, its just not necessary to get into all the details for this particular discussion) and i found that trying to write in depth about this i was unable to say anything i was really happy with. other people can and probably have written about this better than i can.

so azula has never been able to come out from under the influence of ozai. she only has him to look up to.

why doesnt she deserve redemption? what is it about azula that makes people think that she shouldnt be able to learn and grow and become a better, happier person?

now im gonna talk about iroh a bit. iroh was a general for presumably a while. he literally laid siege to ba sing se for 400 days and didnt stop until lu ten died. he is a war criminal as an adult. as an adult who is old enough to have a son who is in the military. he killed so many people and didnt stop to consider that hmm maybe this is a bad thing until someone close to him died. and like yea, thats horrible. its a horrible thing to lose someone close to you but hes activley caused the death of hundreds.

so why do we forgive iroh? to me, hes done worse things than azula. yes, azula conquered ba sing se but she didnt lay siege to it for over a year and he did this as an adult.

well, we forgive iroh because the show has forgiven him. whats more is that the show puts iroh on a moral high ground. iroh is always made out to be right and he hates azula.

he never even put in the effort to get to know her (as seen by the fact that he gifts her a doll, which she proceeds to set on fire because its obviously a ‘well i guess i should probably get you a gift too. what do girls like? dolls?’ kind of gift’ while he gives zuko something he actually likes). 

azula is in a situation that is while different from zukos, is also very similar, and iroh treats her like a villain for it while he only supported zuko. dont get me wrong, what he did for zuko is extremely good. he did a good thing supporting him because he desperately needed that, but azula also needed it and what does iroh do for her? he calls her crazy and says that she “needs to go down.”

this isnt me saying that you should hate iroh. hes important to the story, does good things for zuko and is interesting (though hed be much more interesting if the show actually acknowledged his flaws instead of making him the moral authority of the show -_-). its just kind of fucked up how people treat iroh vs how they treat azula.

iroh gets paired with the phrase ‘make tea not war’ (a complete mischaracterization. my hatred for this phrase is unending.) and is treated as some wise old man. azula is routinely called a psychopath. and i get that the show displays iroh as good and azula as bad, but we do also get to see azula in a sympathetic light at the end.

im not saying that the last scene with azula is perfect, but it shows azula as a young girl who is suffering. whats going on is a tragedy. the music is telling us that and then we see her sobbing and losing control after katara has beaten her. i dont like that this is the last we see of her, but i do like the scene because, at least to me, it shows that azula is sympathetic (though she shouldnt have to have a public breakdown to be sympathetic but thats something else) and that shes just a kid in a really shitty position but apparently people miss this. apparently people watch the agni kai scene with its sad music that culminates in a child weeping and still think that azula is an irredeemable monster.

and even if the show didnt show azula as sympathetic to some degree she still shouldnt be treated the way she is by the fandom.

azula is psychotic (said in the actual use of the word and not in the ableist ‘oh she fucking evil’ kind of way. also said as someone who is psychotic). she hallucinates and has delusions and intense paranoia on screen. psychosis is extremely demonized. 

to me its kind of obvious that a lot of the ‘azula doesnt deserve a redemption’ argument is ableist. people will see an abused, mentally ill child and think that shes worse than her war criminal uncle. if you think that azula doesnt deserve redemption please think about why you think that. think about why you dont want her to get the chance to grow and become a better person and to eventually be happy. i dont care if she makes a good and interesting villain, that doesnt mean she doesnt deserve redemption. zuko was also an interesting villain but he got a redemption and stayed a good and interesting character.

anyways to end this: let characters with “scary” mental illnesses have the opportunity to grow and change and live happy lives.
