tell me more than just the scars i've known - my first Sylki fic that i wrote while extremely frustrated by lack of cell service, it's not my favorite thing i've written but listen: sometimes a girl's just gotta write some whump, ok?

Dream Again (When One's Left Behind) - the one and only Tangled: The Series fic i've ever written. Varian angst and platonic h/c with one of the only alternating POVs i've ever successfully written.

for the bad decisions that we made - the Sylki fic i posted less than two days ago (writing for big fandoms is wild, guys); yet another take on an s2 reunion but this time featuring heart-to-hearts, hugs, and one of my favorite lines of prose i've ever written

Learn Me Right - Newsies sickfic that i'm not incredibly proud of, but it's where i started writing my favorite minor character, so it's cool.

We Are Broken - one of my other Newsies fics, bc yeah i had a phase back in January, and i saw some Wormsies post that gave me an idea.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?

YES. i always reply to comments just bc i love talking to people, and i also love talking about my fics at any opportunity. also bc i know how nice it is to leave an author a comment and get a reply later on, it's just such a great feeling so i like to be that person :)

6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

eurrgghh probably either Dust & Ashes or we're gonna sing it again and again, bc they ended with MCD, but i really kind of hate both of them in retrospect because i was trying to write them to be canon compliant, but i wasn't familiar enough with canon and they're just... very very off

7. Do you write crossovers?

nope, not unless you count different eras and contexts of Doctor Who stuff as crossover

8. Ever received hate on a fic?

nope again, AO3 culture is very nice and i really love it

9, Do you write smut?

biggest NOPE yet, i don't write it or read it. just.... n o p e.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

11. Ever had a fic translated?

again, no. but that would be really heckin cool if one of my fics ever did get translated!!

12. Have you ever co-written a fic?

i'm saying "no" a whole lot, wow... but yeah, no i haven't. i've considered co-writing something with my best friend, but we've never gotten around to it

i... cannot pick one tbh. it changes with my hyperfixation. right now i have Sylki brainrot lol

14. WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

probably my Gallifrey/DWEU buddy cop au?? i love it, it's my brainchild, but yeah :/

15. Writing strengths?

i've been told that i'm really good at packing a lot of emotion and meta into very short fics, and i'm pretty proud of that tbh

16. Writing weaknesses?

i suck at plot and dialogue can sometimes drive me nuts. i think my biggest weakness as i perceive it is that i find it hard to *not* make things in fics go very fast? like i write everything out that i want in a fic but it's still incredibly short and i worry that it feels rushed, even though other people don't usually think that.

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

uh... the only language other than English that i know is Koine Greek (as in, the specific Greek that the Bible's New Testament was oroginally written in) and it's a dead language, sooooo.......

18. First fandom you wrote for?

Big Finish Doctor Who! (tho tbh i think back when i was 11/12 i wrote some random self-insert stuff for whatever little fandoms i was in back then 😅)

19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?

ohhh i can't choose? usually i'm just most partial to whatever i've most recently written, which right now is for the bad decisions that we made. i think one of my Gallifrey fics, In The Drift, is definitely high on my list of favorites though.

I try to because I honestly appreciate all the comments I get! Although sometimes I don't know how to reply because I'm so ecstatic over the fact other people like what i'm doing!

uh... oh. This one's quite hard, i most of the time leave a very ambiguous ending..

There is one which makes me really sad and kinda regret when reading back now and then there are another two which are quite inconclusive.

oh my lord, I honestly loved the end of my fic 'Partner In Crime' because it's so wholesome...

I have never written a crossover! But im not against them. I just have a lot of slipknot fics in the works and kinda want to finish them before moving onto greater plains.

9. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yep. It sucked ass and made me nearly quit very early on. I wasn't prepared to be told to die. So yknow...

10. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I have written smut once and thought I did terrible, although I am an avid reader of the content. I may try again in the future but perhaps I'll just still to heavy fluff.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes. It was soul crushing.

No.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

I have not! But honestly if anyone ever wants to then I'm down because I'd love to!

i enjoy sid and shawn. but also anything that includes the tol men because... yknow height difference in fics.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

We do not speak about it. I HAVE 25 IN THE WORKS. there is this one specific one that I just can't progress in a direction I want but I really like the start scene, it's like a uh... haunted house kinda spooky vibe.

16. What are your writing strengths?

uh... I enjoy writing dialogue. and perhaps my varied language when describing certain things???

pacing. every fuckin time. I just can't get it to flow right in my opinion and have to use a time skip or something. it makes me feel SO bad.

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?

I nearly did that recently! I'm definitely not against it and nearly wrote in French recently to be... yknow romantic 😏😏

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

The Sidemen (A YouTube Group) and I SUCKED. I was probably the worst writer on the surface of the earth. Punctuation and spelling out the window, like sis... 😬😬😬

20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

omg... this a hard one. I love them all for different reasons like I love the crack text ones for dialogue but I also love the fluff value of some of my others.

Overall I'd say I like 'Partner In Crime' the most because it was the first fic where I posted it and it made me feel slightly proud to have made it. I also find myself going back now to read or compare certain aspects or scenes.

1. How many works do you have on ao3?

Apparently 26 asdklfjhsd (i don’t know when that happened… i feel like last i checked it was 9)

2. What’s your total ao3 word count?

186,881 (wish i knew what it would be with all my tumblr pieces and unpublished work as well... EDIT: I briefly glanced through stuff i haven’t published and it is somewhere around 350k, so i don’t know what to do with that aksjdhfsd)

3. How many fandoms have you written for?

Uh… well, on AO3, there are 3 fandoms. I’ve technically written for 2 others, but that was before i participated in fandom, so, they aren’t available for people to read (and they’re like 15 years old)

4. Top 5 fics by kudos?

Oh, this one’s gonna hurt me… cause my faves don’t make the list askjdfhs

Coming in at number 1 is Duality, my first fic in the SuperCorp fandom and my very first attempt at smut. I think the progression of their dynamic was pretty solid and i still rather love the reveal I included, but the writing... well, let’s just acknowledge that i’ve grown.

2 is technically In Plain Sight, but that was a collab, so half (or more) of those kudos go to @stennnn06, so we’ll move on to Luck of the Draw, my crack fic about the SuperFriends playing Cards Against Humanity while in universe ��Supergirl’ and ‘Lena Luthor’ are cards. (it’s also the only non-smut piece that made it onto this list, lolol)

3 is Listen Well, a praise kink piece written for the holiday exchange in 2017.

4 is Subconscious, a thoroughly horny piece involving Lena VRing Kara, done for the holiday exchange in 2019.

And 5 is A Taste of Sunshine, my vampire Lena piece, with blood drinking and Kara being an absolute snack (or tease). (the only piece on this list i wrote in this decade askdfjhsdf)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?

I do! I’m a little behind on the current round, cause i haven’t been on AO3 in a bit, but i try to get around to them all eventually. I get thrown off when i get a lot of comments that amount to “I want more” and I feel like a machine... which is what the vast majority of my recent comments have been, RIP.

6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending

That would be With No Silver Linings (Life is Only What We Make of It). It’s set in a bleak dystopian world and there is no escape, and it’s literally about Kara coming to terms with that.

7. Do you write crossovers?

I suppose I have (brought Adora to National City for… reasons), but usually, no.

8. Ever received hate on a fic?

Got told I dumbed Lena down in one of my fics and that completely killed my interest in writing it. But beyond that, no.

9. Do you write smut?

Well… yes. More than half my library is smut.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

11. Ever had a fic translated?

Yes. Someone asked to translate Duality.

12. Have you ever co-written a fic?

Yup! In Plain Sight!

I don’t really do that kind of favorite, but SuperCorp has had my heart for a while now.

Oh, hm, probably A New Dawn, my pseudo-vampiric fic. I really love the world/concept, but struggled with the lack of interest I got for it.

15. Writing strengths?

I think the ‘punch’? like the impact of a given moment... maybe?

16. Writing weaknesses?

Grammar and the character ‘voices’.

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

I would only ever do it with a fictional language or with someone to help me with accuracy.

Twilight, but you’ll never find a word of it, sorry.

19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?

So, it’s a three way tie for me. There’s Hope, which I think was some of my best writing. Boy from the Stars isn’t my strongest piece, but it’s very personal, and is the reason I have Zed. And then You Are My Dog, Aren’t You? which is like my love letter to kink.

rotbtd tag game!

started by @risoris a while ago but i saw it in the tags and i wanted to try 😊

name/nickname? i go by phoenix

how did you get into rotbtd? i was a big fan of rotg and i kinda stumbled onto rotbtd through fan art and stuff. so i started writing fics on wattpad and got involved in all that fandom drama ahahhh it was fun, not really tho it was messy

what made you stay/come back? i got back into writing rotbtd fics for comfort, and now i have very different opinions on how i see the characters compared to back then and i need a place to scream so here i am 🤡

out of the four movies, which one is your favourite? this one’s tuff. honestly rotg still holds a special place in my heart, i love the characters and the world and i still needa read the books!! but at the same time, httyd is like a PERFECT film in my mind when it comes to storytelling, so like, definitely between those two.

dreamworks dragons or rapunzel’s tangled adventure? i haven’t watched either of them in full, but i gotta say dreamworks dragons just bc of HEATHER. heatherrrrrrrrr, she owns my heart, heathstrid owns my heart

which one do you prefer to be made a sequel of, brave or rise of the guardians? definitely rotg but i’d want it to be more of a tv show. i’m too invested in the lore and the characters, i need full length episodes.

otp/brotp(s)? ahhhhh this question. hijack is probs my fav otp just bc i love like.......... the idiot x idiot dynamic they have going on. the sheer dumbassery of pairing them together brings me sm joy, they’re so stupid and i could go on for hours but anyways........ biggest brotps are probs jackunzel and mericcup (i KNOW those are the most popular ships idk why i’m like thissss) but also jarida gives me such a rivalry dynamic that i love, and i just. love them all

favourite characters? LOVE THEM ALL. idk man i feel like i think about jack the most bc he’s kinda the most tragic character w 300 years of isolation, but i also love analyzing hiccup and rapunzel, and i basically put merida on a pedestal, so it just depends on the day and whoever i happen to be hyperfixated on 🤓

favourite au(s)? probs a modern au or any kind of fantasy au, and like whatever’s in between those two. i think it’s just fun playing around w the worldbuilding of all their movies and just coming up with something totally new

pick one! favourite b4 house placement in hogwarts au? | favourite b4 nation/bending headcanons in atla au? idk anything about hogwarts so for nation/bending........ kinda caught between airbender and waterbender jack bc his powers are literally both, i think i’d have to go w waterbender tho. rapunzel is the avatar from the fire nation, and merida and hiccup are both from the earth kingdom, but merida is an earthbender and hiccup is a nonbender. this is prone to change

pick one! since this is 2021, any hot takes you want to give us? | what old fanon tropes that you still enjoyed to this day? i have takes, idk if i got “hot takes”......... ig none of them are straight?? uh jack and merida DO get along for many reasons, but mostly bc jack is so similar to the triplets yk. uhhhh jackunzel and mericcup give me sibling/family energyyyyyy 🤭🤭 elsa would NOT hang out with them, b4 > b5. idk 🙃

Best Surprise [Valentines collab]

Paring: Noya x reader

Warning: This takes place post timeskip, slight spoilers ahead!!

A/n: This is a part of a big multi fandom collab hosted by the wonderful @prettysetterbaby to celebrate this wonderful or lonely day. Decided to try my hand at writing for my fav libero Noya, this is my first time writing for him so hopefully he’s not too ooc. Make sure you go and check out the other stories [Valentines Masterlist] Give them some love too!

-Valentines day was a day that people either loved or hated, you always leaned toward hated in your younger years, then again most kids didn’t think too highly of love or romance.

-When you started highschool you swore you’d never fall in love no matter what. You’d weather any storm and stand strong.

- However you didn’t expect in your second year to encounter a storm by the name of Nishinoya Yuu.

-Noya crashed into your life, literally. You met the shorter boy when he slipped down the stairs and crashed into you. Rapid apologies and a promise to make up for it was the start of your friendship with the libero.

-It was funny how in just a few months you forgot your vow as you fell head over heels for him.

-It was after the game against Shiratorizawa that you waited excitedly outside the stadium for Noya and the rest of his team.

-Still buzzing from the intensity and victory of the game you didn’t even think twice before giving him a kiss when you saw him; which made his brain short circuit and you to be very much embarrassed when you realized you did it, and in front of his team. Suffice to say the feelings were mutual when he pulled you in for another kiss.

-Ever since that day you started to love Valentines as Noya made sure to surprise you in the best ways, even after you graduated and started traveling the world together it was a day he went all out on you no matter where on the map you were.

-This year was different, you had to return to Japan after your father had an accident. He needed someone to come and take care of his house while he recovered in the hospital, not wanting to put that responsibility onto your boyfriend. You told him to continue traveling and you’d meet up once your father had fully recovered.

-While you had made the suggestion to begin with being separated from Noya for over two months made you realize how truly lonely you were without him physically there. Now here you were sitting on the couch watching some boring tv show trying to call Noya to at least talk to him on this day, but he wasn’t answering.

“Hey this is Nishinoya Yuu, I can’t come to the phone--”

“Damn it Yuu!” You bursted out cutting off the recorded message, hanging up the call you threw your phone onto the couch. Frustration had boiled into anger after hearing the voicemail for the 10th time. Noya had never gone this long without answering one of your calls, even if it was the dead of night he would still wake up and answer.

Letting out a huff you reached over and picked up the phone again, exiting out of the contacts you went to your most recent texts with him.

You swipe down and look at the message you sent earlier in the day, each one of them was left on read. Why on earth would he do that, he hates when you left him on read so why was he suddenly doing it to you? Maybe he was hanging out with Yaku; no that doesn’t make sense he wouldn’t ignore you especially on valentines day.

As you tried to think of why he wasn’t responding a sour thought came to mind ‘what if he’s cheating?’ You quickly shake your head at such a stupid thought, Noya was one of the most loyal people you knew; he’d never leave you or do something to hurt you.

Even knowing that, the small shred of doubt from his unusual behavior gave you an uneasy weight in your stomach. You decide to distract yourself with a movie marathon, selecting which one to start with, you sit back and relax.

It was maybe a few hours into the marathon your attention is pulled from the detective about to tell who the murderer is by a knock on the door. Grumbling about having to be left in suspense you pull yourself off of the couch and slowly make your way over to the front door, who could be at the door; you didn’t remember ordering anything or anyone coming over.

You opened the door to find no one there, confused you looked up and down the hallway of the apartment but saw nothing. You think it was someone pulling a prank and are about to close the door when you noticed a rose on the doormat.

Brows furrowing, you lean down and pick it up, who would leave just one rose in front of someone's door? You walked back in closing the door, it was odd but the thought was nice; taking a vase out you filled it with water and set the rose in it.

Just as you were about to sit back down and continue watching the movie another knock at the door came, frowning you went over and opened the door to nothing but a rose on the mat again.

This continues 3 more times, every time you went to start the movie there was a knock and a new rose. Setting the 5th rose in the vase you quickly moved over to the door being as silent as possible, you were going to find out who this was.

Pressing your ear against the door to listen, when you heard footsteps approach and stop in front of the door you pulled back and threw open the door, mouth open to say something but the words never made it out of your throat.

There in front of the door with a bouquet of roses was Noya kneeling down in the midst of setting a rose on the mat, eyes wide staring at you like a kid who just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. You both just stood in silence staring at each other until you finally found your voice. “Yuu?”

At hearing you say his name he snaps out of his shocked state and springs to his feet. “U-Uh hey babe.” A sheepish smile came onto his face, your eyes trail from his face to the bouquet in his hands then back up. He shifted putting the singular rose back with the others as you spoke again.

“Baby what are you doing here? You said you were going to Russia.” You took a step to the side and let him come in, his laughter gave a fuzzy warmth in your chest as he took his shoes off and looked at you. “That may have been a lie haha, sorry about that.” With his free hand he rubbed the back of his head. “I wanted to surprise you.”

“That’s why you didn’t respond” You let out a relieved sigh as you both walked into the living room. He'd been busy getting things done so they could spend today together; you knew you had nothing to worry about. “Yes I’m so sorry baby, I knew you’d want to call for a bit if I responded and I was trying to make sure everything was set up.” Setting the bouquet down on the table he walked over and embraced you tightly.

When you returned the hug your boyfriend seemed to visabble relax. “God I missed you y/n'' He said mumbled into your hair, a smile spread across your face. “I missed you too Yuu.” You said pulling back a little, a small pout was on Noya’s lips.

“Although I wish you didn’t open the door so soon, I had a whole plan set up.” He huffed with false annoyance that caused you to start giggling. “Hey don’t laugh!.” “Hehe sorry sorry babe but what even was your plan?” He let go, took a step back and crossed his arms. “I was going to keep leaving a rose at the door until I had one left, then I was going to stand at the door and present it to you.”

You couldn’t help but laugh more, because that was indeed something Noya would do. “Haha knowing you baby you’d be in a ridiculous pose too!” Noya cracked and began laughing too, “But that is the best part!” The living room was filled with your laughter, when it finally died down you took a few steps forward and gave him a chaste kiss before going and putting the rest of the roses in the vase.

“I’m glad you’re here, now I was in the middle of a movie marathon and I want to find out who the damn murderer is.” Noya snickered before hopping over the couch to sit down. “Well I don’t see any better way to spend this day then a movie date.”

You also hopped the couch, grabbing the remote and the blanket you had out; the two of you quickly got set up nice and comfy, once you were set up you looked at Noya. “Want me to restart the movie?” He shrugged “I mean if you want to, you mentioned murder so you might see clues you missed the first time.” You nodded your head and went back to the main menu of the movie. “Oh by the way babe.” Noya hummed in response as he wrapped his arms around you.

“Out of all the surprises you’ve given me, this was by far the best one.” Looking up at Noya “Happy Valentines day.” You could have sworn he had hearts in his eyes at hearing that from the loving look on his face, he kissed your forehead. “Glad to hear, happy Valentines day baby.”

This will NOT be everyone because that would take so long to do and I’d probably forget so many. So this will just be my top favs from each series. I’ll try to keep this short. Also not spoiler free! If I talk about a series, chances are I have read/am reading/ or will read the manga!!

Bleach - aka the reason I started this blog. It’s not as popular but I will still absolutely talk about it because it’s my fav. Grimmjow, Byakuya, Renji, Kenny, Aizen, Urahara, Ichigo, Yoruichi…. There are far too many people in bleach and I like most of them!

Chainsaw man - Aki and Angel. My babies, the both of them. Maybe…. Makima… squints

Demon Slayer - this will probably pick up more during season 2. Giyuu, Sanemi, Iguro, Uzui

Jujutsu Kaisen - GETOU, getou, and uh getou. Im jk I love most of them a lot but getou is my husband so…

Haikyuu - Oikawa, Kuroo, Akaashi. Another series with far too many people I love.

Genshin Impact - Diluc, Kaeya, Xiao, Zhongli, Childe

Hell’s Paradise - barely anyone knows of this sadly but is that going to stop me from talking about it? Nope. Shugen, Aza brothers, Yuzuriha, and Tenza are my favs.

Ok I’ll stop here. I will mention MHA since that’s a big one. Umm I love the series, it’s great. But I just don’t really know that I will ever want to write for any of them? I don’t simp for them nearly as hard as I used too. Dabi, Aizawa, and Mirko are my favs. Also, Tokyo Revengers!! I fucking loooove nearly every fucking man there but! I have a TR blog already so I’ll try and keep that over there.

do you have any fic recs for the mentalist?

I told you I’d post some for you tonight and here they are!! Unfortunately I did a lot of reading while I was still obstinately REFUSING to make another ffnet account, so I didn’t save like a good 90% of what I read, some of which was excellent. But here are some of the ones I did +fav or whatever they call it there. No particular genre since your ask was open ended, but, well-

(sorry in advance - these are mostly ffnet links but they’re worth braving that site I swear)

((also this is definitely a non-exhaustive list. there’s some real talent in this fandom))

Consummate Connection Confrontation - these are three separate fics in that order by the absolutely inimitable @hardlyloquatious. Literally everything they’ve written is amazing. I’ve completely exposed myself because my first rec is sort of. uh, lightly 18+. But I had to put this author at the top of my list because I love them so much. The way Jane talks in Consummate has literally kept me awake more than once. It’s honestly more sweet and touching than anything but it’s definitely uh. not something your boss should catch you with I guess.

Long Lost, Long Last - same author. This was written and posted before My Blue Heaven aired, but it has the same vibe as that episode, except deliciously drawn out. It starts off with Jane being his kinda silly self and deciding he wants to try his hand at letter writing, so he writes little notes for the whole team. Lisbon is the only one who gives him a note back, and they take to leaving each other lil notes - until RJ is killed and Jane disappears to do some soul searching. This fic is so... beautiful and I think about it with some frequency. “Consummate” is hot but Long Lost Long Last is why HL is my fave TM author.

Practice - okay one last one from this author. This one isn’t like, groundbreaking, but it’s just the SWEETEST look at how much Jane tries after they get together. I’m a sucker for Jane being sweet. Clearly, since that’s why Consummate is at the top of this list.

Blood Red Moon - the author is 221b Baker Street. Their fics are a LOT more heavy. But they’re so, so good. Their mastery of language is incredible and their fics read like professionally written books - and they do Jane/Lisbon banter incredibly well. Some of the imagery they use has genuinely stuck with me. Also see Sacraments in Scarlet (Jane pretends to be a priest), Arsenic and Red Lace (murder at an assisted care facility and Jane being the cheery and extremely sad bastard that he is), Jonathon Redding (a take on Red John that is deeply clever), a Road lEss traveleD (this is. unsettling. it’s extremely good but save it for the last from this author, wait until you love them first. The payoff for not-as-it-seems comes towards the end but it really is worth waiting for).

Blood Wind - by Gone2Far speaking of unsettling. THIS ONE. God this fic is so good. Spooky as fuck in a way that’s a little X-Filesy and incredibly well written. I want to live very far from this fic while at the same time wrapping myself in its words so I can borrow a crumb of talent.

In Case series - @halfagonyandhope (yay, they’re on tumblr). This rec list isn’t necessarily in any sort of order because after HL, halfagonyandhope is second fave author. This particular series is SO ROMANTIC and LOVELY and I kinda wanna cry kinda wanna read it again and again. My favorite one in the series is Ya’aburnee but you have to read the ones preceding it to make any sort of sense. Also now that I’m looking at all of these again I’m realizing that apparently the second installment stuck with me more than I expected because I wrote more than 10k words of something that has a vaguely similar theme (which I will post later).

Qumran and Reset - by J. Roddam. This author only ever seems to have written these two but they’re fucking EXQUISITE. I generally avoid AUs in this fandom because the concept of erasing Jane’s past does NOT sit right with me but Reset is one of the only exceptions I’ve made. It has soulmate vibes without being like, a tumblr soulmate story. Both of them are living SUCH different lives than their canon counterparts but somehow it actually works and it’s beautiful. Qumran is similarly without peer.

Pretending, I: Witness - @inkstainedfingers97. I wouldn’t even know where to start but I love every single thing about this fic - and it’s recently been completed! I was lucky enough to get to binge read a majority of it but waiting for updates was also genuinely thrilling too. Fake/Real Married for WITSEC reasons, real love for obvious reasons. Also the Lorelei dynamic is way more intense than on the show in a way that’s at once very uncomfortable and very believable.

27 Minutes - by Idan. Okay. Okay so this author commented on one of my fics and I almost lost it because I really love theirs. I was smiling for like an hour when I saw the notification from them!! 27 Min is my favorite one but In The Cards is widely rec’d by others for very good reason, it’s so good. The Pretender is also excellent, written based on promos of Orange Blossom Ice Cream and so a bit AU from there.

Eighteen Hours - I would definitely be remiss if I didn’t mention @leafenclaw (and actually, I was remiss because I realized while making this post that theirs were some of those early fics I read that I never +fave etc, so ty for the ask so I can do it now, anon). Leafenclaw writes SO well and I have an extra soft spot for them because they pointed me in the direction of a lot of fics and were one of the first ppl I ever spoke with in this fandom since luckily they’re on tumblr too. Also Kindred (note - both of these are still WIP but being updated/worked on!) Chasing Storms is complete, incredible, angsty, beautiful. Also I kind of want to borrow the idea of writing one story around a set of many prompts like this. I don’t actually think I’ve ever seen anyone else do that?

The Long Way Back - by LouiseKurylo I consider them sort of a friend because they’ve been SO supportive while I was writing Saving Grace but even before that with a new suit, another pair of socks, and a terrible couch. And I’ve seen them supporting everybody else too - they’re just SO NICE. Their fics are also very interesting, and they sort of bring Jane and Lisbon much more into the real world. There’s more real life problems to go hand in hand with mentalist plot type problems, which makes for very interesting reading. Fischer in this particular fic is FASCINATING. Also, a hot tip @leafenclaw shared with me: Louise’s faves list has 500 stories in it and pretty much everything in there is worth reading.

Last but OBVIOUSLY not least I wanna mention some of the very cute and talented and actively posting people here on tumblr in our little mentalist squad of approximately 12 people lmao. You probably already know @gracevanpelt aka LilyThistle’s Big Blue, Red Road, Breathe, and Collusion. I have an especially soft spot for Breathe actually even though it’s the least plotty of the lot. I just think it works so perfectly on its own, as is, like a quiet little interlude. No muss no fuss as Jane would say - and I love it a lot. @asambergs aka cmbing’s how glad i am that you exist is actually the FIRST piece of Mentalist fic I ever read, and then I was pulled down this slippery slope to end up posting this at 11:52 pm on a Thursday night. And I’m not about to forget @pjane aka epaynter whose words are so beautifully atmospheric and who writes the softest Jane (I love Soft Jane and will fight anyone who disagrees about it!!)

Why I chose this url: so back in the year 2016 i fell stupidly hard into a stupid show called Miraculous Ladybug and through it i discovered FANFICTION (i’d like obvs heard of it before, but never engaged with it) and anyway after a while reading amazing fics i discovered to my horror/delight that i wanted to WRITE IT TOO sooooo i decided to create a tumblr! and since this was intended to be a sort of writing blog i wanted to come up with a writing/book related username and came up with inkjackets – after all books are just pages of ink wrapped in dust jackets! (though like i said before until last year i never actually did much writing lol)

Dream job: ah a question i still hate at the age of 25 (: i seriously have no idea!! part of me wants to be an author and have a chill time writing in the countryside all day, but i also love being outdoors and would love to continue being an activity instructor doing fun and adventurous things forever, but then i also want to get a fancy job in the city running around being busy and important!! i just want to do a bit of everything you know?

Dream trip: i’d love to do rural asia, especially china, to see all the cool mountains and beautiful scenery they have there

Last book I read: Children of Time by Adrian Tchaivosky, a really really well done (if kinda unsettling) sci-fi novel, but ngl i want to talk about the book i read before that which is An Absolutely Remarkable Thing (and its sequel) by Hank Green which was FANTASTIC like hands down one of the best books i’ve read in a long time and if you’re looking for something fun and easy while also tackling serious real world problems (like the dangers of social media) then i HIGHLY recommend it, like honestly even if that’s not something you’re looking just go read it anyway!!!

Top 3 fictional universes I’d love to live in: 1. Harry Potter. kinda goes without saying haha, i want to be able to do magic 2. ATLA, (like only if i’m a bender tho lol) 3. hmm Chronicles of Ancient Darkness. It was one of my fav serious as a kid and I always longed to live in that sort of intelligent pre-historic age, and the world michelle paver creates feels so damn realistic, and i just feel like i’d thrive in that sort of world, tbh (i think the adhd would help lmao)

anon!! i have so many favs because this fandom is mad talented but! i tried to include ones that i never really see in fic recs (i made a few exceptions aha). someday i’ll have a proper list of recs but for now here’s just a few (as well as my thoughts):

All Must Draw Near by Saras_Girl

summary: Harry doesn’t have time for rumours; he has a shop to run. Which is just as well, really

thoughts: this is a really really cute advent fic that i really love! it features draco and harry as close friends who run a shop together and harry is painfully oblivious to the fact that he and draco are practically a couple already. also the original character introduced (and her furry friend) are great, i love it when fics introduce original characters that i end up loving.

you open always (petal by petal) by birdsofshore

summary: Harry’s not the kind of person who pays for sex. He really isn’t. Until he is.

thoughts: uh very different vibe from the last fic but really really good. i’m usually not one for these types of fics but i really enjoyed this one and harry’s obliviousness really hits hard in this one lmao. i also really liked the addition of grimmauld place’s house magic!

Draw a Line from Your Heart to Mine by CreateImagineWrite

summary: Being Harry Potter’s best friend isn’t always fame and beating off raving fans. It’s also the anxiety of hearing your best mate’s been cursed by another Dark Lord, or love potioned by some crazy woman. Or having his boyfriend you knew nothing about turn up on the Burrow’s doorstep. Crime/Mystery fic.

thoughts: ohh i love this fic so much. it’s told through ron’s pov which i really really love because of how his thoughts on draco change as the fic progresses. also that twist! a must read in my opinion

The Stars Above Us by 606, create_serenity

summary: It started as an innocent day out taking Teddy to visit the local observatory. Somehow it became so much more.

thoughts: i am a huge sucker for any story that features astronomy or a character working at an observatory so it was just the star on the tree to see draco working at one in this fic. also! teddy is in this fic! and i just adore fics that involve draco interacting with teddy.

Inter Vivos by lomonaaeren

summary: AU. The Parseltongue incident in second year caused a more violent explosion in Gryffindor House than anyone could have foreseen. Harry, trying to withdraw from everyone except his two best friends, finds himself helped by people he couldn’t have foreseen either, first Snape and then Draco Malfoy. Sometimes, all it takes is one sudden impulsive throwing of a stone for the ripples of change to spread through several lives.

thoughts: i really really love canon rewrites for this particular ship especially and this is one of my fav ones that i’ve read so far. i really love how it takes place over a series of dates and ahh little draco just wanting to be a part of a genuine harry potter adventure! it’s adorable, really

The Lesson of You by thecouchsofa

summary: Harry likes kids. That doesn’t mean he’s ready for a small boy to turn up on the doorstep of Grimmauld Place insisting that Harry is his father. That was weird enough, but the child identifying Draco Malfoy as his other parent was something Harry had no bloody idea how to handle.

thoughts: holy shit i LOVE this fic so much. i had been wanting to write a fic with this sort of premise for a while but my plans sorta fell through when i lost my notes (oops haha) but i found this fic which is just so so great! harry and draco’s relationship development is adorable and ahh little ollie is adorable with how he inadvertently teases both harry and draco haha

In Pieces by dysonrules

summary: Harry returns to Hogwarts as the new DADA instructor, only to find his teaching efforts thwarted by a very familiar ghost.

thoughts: not to expose me and my inherent belief in the eroticism of a ghost (im 99% joking) but this fic is fantastic. the longing was really tangible and i am happy to confirm that it ends happily!

Everything That Happens is From Now On by trishjames

summary: After surviving a brutal assault, Draco tries to navigate the tumultuous waters of his mind, and embrace a bit of love and trust in his life. After all, the smallest steps forward can begin to heal the most fractured of souls.

thoughts: as you can tell from the summary, please read the tags and author’s notes before reading! i usually avoid fics of this subject matter but this one was really well done and draco’s process of moving on from the incident is written so well in wonderful, subtle ways that are just Clear to the reader and i really appreciate that

The Art of Our Necessities by dcfg21

summary: After being Turned by a vampire, Harry descends into reckless and dangerous behavior. The Ministry and the Vampire Council devise a way to keep the former Savior on a leash, and his fangs to himself, by forcing him to take a Consort.

thoughts: ohhh this fic is good and features a really jaded harry after the war as well as a draco who’s mostly there out of convenience for himself but it develops into something much more. i rarely ever see vampire!harry fics which is something i’ve a bit of a weakness for if i’m being honest

the strength to stay by violetclarity

summary: Draco and Harry are the best Senior Aurors in the DMLE, which is why they’re working the case about Wings – a dangerous new potion that sends users into a dreamscape from which they may never return. When Harry is kidnapped by the group behind Wings, Draco takes it upon himself to go after him, and is forced to confront the reality of Harry’s feelings for him, which he’s been ignoring for years.

thoughts: this fic features chubby draco which is ahhh something i never see in drarry fics. it really hurts to see how draco views himself and i think it’s a very relatable feeling to be so self-deprecating that even in the face of obvious interest, you still feel as though it isn’t possible for someone to feel that way for you. this story is also part of a series from the author so go give that a read as well!

Summary: The world ended and only two camps with people survived in this desolated world. Kidnapping the leader’s daughter of the other camp believes he can make a good deal. But deals aren’t always that easy.

„Who the heck are you?” Dean barks glaring at the man appearing next to you.

“Don’t kill me…again. ”Zachariah says. “This time I’m on your side. Let me explain what happened to you, Sam and the others. Y/N is right. Sam shot Chuck, he shot god.”

“Wait…Chuck is god…like God…God?” You gasp.

“Let’s calm down everyone. If he realizes I’m here to help you break out I’m done for.” Zahariah whispers pointing toward the hut. “We should go back to your hut. I warded it. For a short amount of time - I hope long enough to explain everything.”

“Fine…but no tricks.” Dean warns and Zachariah nods.

“I remember you. Your name is Zachariah, you were the angel dick trying to get me to say ‘yes’ to Michael.” Dean grunts. “You should be dead…”

“Oh, I was dead. Thanks to you Michael killed me. Now let’s forget about the past. God, Chuck…however you want to call him is out of control. You pushed him too far and now, he wants to end this world too.” The angel explains and you sit down onto the bed, rubbing your forehead.

“He killed Jack…” Castiel says remembering the Nephilim now.

“Correct, Castiel but let’s start at the beginning. You refused to kill Jack, Lucifer’s son so Chuck did it by himself. Sam shot him and God lost his patience.” Zachariah explains.

“The undead and everyone we ever killed came back.” Dean pants remembering the cemetery and a never-ending stream of enemies…

“That’s right, Dean. The only thing Chuck did not plan was Y/N to return thanks to Amara.” Your eyes drift toward Dean as another memory makes you whine in pain. You can see you sacrificing yourself to seal the rift…then nothing.

“I died to close the rift, then Chuck snapped his fingers and suddenly Amara was back, giving me her powers. I was at the cemetery a few moments later and killed the monsters…every single monster.” You pant balling your hands into fists. “We wanted to drive back to the bunker.”

“That’s right, Y/N. Thanks to the powers Amara gifted you with you were able to kill the enemies. Chuck was worried about his plan. He knows about the stubbornness of the Winchesters and Castiel. Combined with your powers and the darkness Amara gave you he was afraid to not be able to defeat you.” Zachariah explains and you scoff.

“What happened on our way to the bunker?” Sam asks looking at the angel.

“Chuck, well God decided you need to go but Y/N surrounded you and Dean along with my favorite fellow angel with a shield made of darkness. Chuck couldn’t get through it so he changed reality instead.”

“Like Gabriel, the trickster used to do?” Dean asks.

“Correct. He used his powers to create a world similar to Apocalypse World, the future I sent you to all these years ago. He couldn’t imitate Lucifer as it was impossible for God to bring the Archangels back or they would’ve fought him. Chuck brought Azazel and all the others back to make sure you and Y/N stay away from each other, but Azazel had other plans. He wanted her to remember to get control over her powers.” Zachariah looks out of the window now and then; afraid someone might see him.

“I would never lend this ass my powers, neither would I help Ketch. I always hated the British asshole.” You spat.

“You don’t understand. Ketch was my idea. He tried to touch you, following my orders. He played his role well, even tricked Lisa.” The angel explains and you glare at him.

“This was your idea, sick bastard?” You yell.

“I had to make sure Azazel sends you to Dean to let him impregnate you. I knew once being close to Dean you would be able to break out of Chuck’s manipulation. Ketch never intended on hurting you for real.”

“I should rip you open, asshole.” Dean grunts wielding a knife in front of Zachariah’s face.

“We need to be quick. This world…we need to break it down before the manipulation starts working once again.” The angel glances at the knife as Sam places one hand onto Dean’s shoulder.

“I hate to admit it, but Zachariah is right. We need to get out of here.” Sam says.

“Fine…”

“How can we get out of here? Anyone around seems to not notice they are trapped in a ‘dream world’.” You ask.

“There’s a door. I got the key, but we must be quick. I don’t know if Chuck already recognized I stole it from him.” Zachariah says handing you the key.

“Outside of your camp Ketch is waiting for you. He’s the only one knowing the way. Go with him while I try to distract God.” The angel says.

“Why are you doing this? Last time you wanted this, wanted the fight.” Dean asks narrowing his eyes, not trusting Zachariah one bit.

“Last time it was faith, I believed in what my brothers told me is the right thing to do. Michael vs. Lucifer as we all knew it must be. This is…he wants to wipe out every single life. Every Demon, human, monster and angel. I do not tell you I’m a fan of you or your brother. You brought chaos into this world, but I must admit you and this powerful witch are the only ones left to stop Chuck. Now get out of here.”

“What about Lisa and the others? What will happen to them?” You ask.

“Lisa and the others are not real. These are only delusions, not the real person. I’m sorry to tell you but Lisa is long gone. The first wave of enemies killed her.” Zachariah says and Dean grimaces. He wiped her memories to keep her safe.

“Dean, I’m sorry but we have to go.” You say feeling the sting.

“Let’s roll. If this is a trap angel dick I’m going to find you, rip you open and roast your guts.” Dean warns.

“About damn time, Winchesters. Let’s get the fuck out of this crazy world.” Ketch mutters completely out of character.

“Uh—since when are you cursing like that?” You ask and Ketch sighs.

“Since I got brought back only to get tossed into this shitty version of our world. Now move your asses so we can get to the door, or rather rift…”

----

“That’s not how a good little angel should behave.” Chuck chuckles glaring at Zachariah. “Your warding and the spell will wear off soon and I’ll be able to hunt them down once again. Poor Winchesters, I wanted them to have a nice life till they get wiped out too.”

“Father, please stop this insanity. We still can return to heaven and do the right thing. We can bring the archangels back. We can bring everyone back and start anew.” Zachariah pants watching Chuck pressing his index and middle finger to his thumb, ready to snap his fingers once again.

“I will start anew. I’m a writer after all…this draft is…done. I found a new story I’d like to write so this one will go to permanent hiatus.” Chuck chuckles finally snapping his fingers to kill Zachariah.

“That’s it, open the door with the key.” Ketch pants jumping out of the jeep. Glancing over his shoulder he can see enemies’ approach, hundreds of undead are storming toward you and the Winchesters.

“I knew this will be the end for me…again. Run, I’m going to try to stop them, at least a few.” Ketch yells entering the car, turning it to race toward the undead.

Handling the steering wheel with one hand he glances into the rear-view mirror, smirking one last time as he watches you opening the door. Pulling the pin of a hand grenade, he drops it.

The explosion rips the car and his driver into pieces, killing the first wave of enemies before they can reach you.

Ketch’s last thought was screw God…how blaspheme.

“What happened here?” You gasp looking around your surroundings. It’s not Apocalypse world, but it’s close.

Undead are running toward you as you glance at the Impala parked close to the cemetery.

“Shit we never left the cemetery, I guess.” Dean curses. “We’ve got no weapons either,” Sam adds standing back to back with his brother once again.

“We’ve got the only weapon we need Dean,” You say pecking his cheek. “When we are done here we drive back to the bunker and fuck the whole night for sure.” You curse running toward the enemies forming a sword out of the darkness.

“Come and get me!” You yell as the Winchesters and Castiel follow you into the battle…

Mouse’s Reclist (#1/?)

Okay, it is time. Time to get working on the incredibly frustrating (but rewarding) task of putting together a fic reclist (the EDM one is next). No, none of my own are going to be on here, I literally know antis would accuse me of doing that for clout. If you want my own fics, DM me :). They probably suck, most of them are really self-indulgent, and I have an update schedule that embodies the slow feeling of trying to download free porn from a dial-up connection in 1997. And your mother is picking up the phone when you’re at the last megabyte and makes you start over. Or something.

I’m going to put a hotlink on the title and probably the author, if that’ll work super easy in a format transfer. Then I’ll post the fandom, pairing, and fic summary in italics, and uh, possibly a small review with some warnings. Keep in mind I can’t be as thorough as the authors themselves, if they’ve chosen to tag at all, because while I do reread these often, I can’t remember every exact trigger. Some of these are fluffy, and some of these are FUCKED UP. Capital F, capital U. Let’s get started. Not organised by fandom or by alphabetical order or by length because my ADHD just says “ONTO THE NEXT LINK GOGOGOGOGOGO” every five seconds. Google docs,,,, stop yelling at my grammar and let me do this thing. There should be about 30 or so under the cut. (Maybe I’ll do more?)

Obviously the first is Three Missing Girls in Madison, Wisconsin by lapsi. This is the Mindhunter Bill/Holden rec that I posted, like, four days ago, and what inspired me to post my own little oneshot drabble. You can check for that in my recs tag for a more detailed description. Let’s just say it’s fucking gorgeous. Everything by lapsi is gorgeous.

You helped Iron Man save the universe. And nobody knows it was you.” His tone softens, becomes almost sad. As though he realizes that what he’s saying is so completely alien to him that he will never be able to understand this part of Peter’s life. “Peter, don’t you want people to know you for who you are?”//An AU where they get the Gauntlet off of Thanos that first time, on Titan. - This is a sort of supremely fucked up but also absolutely beautiful Starker fic with aged up!Peter. By, like, three years, and he’s still essentially Tony’s sugar baby, but whatever. It’s literally an absolute amazing ride.

the spaces between the stars by indigostohelit - Generation Kill/Bradnate - Lieutenant Nathaniel Fick of the USS Devil Dog is returning to Earth with the weight of the world on his shoulders: his captain is incompetent, his crew is half in mutiny, and the mission to a distant star may have been more of a failure than anyone could have comprehended. But on the journey back, something in the ship goes terribly wrong—and Nate may have to bear far more than the weight of the world if he's going to keep his men safe. - Okay, what fandom ancients still remember Generation Kill? Warnings in and of itself for just the general nature of camaraderie on that show. I’m usually a Bradray sucker (remind me to get to those next time), but this was fucking fantastic. Sci-fi mystery AU is my absolute FAVOURITE genre, hands down, all time, ever. And indigo has written a veritable basketload of my fav fics besides, so I can always trust in them.

All of Astolat’s MegOp fic - Transformers/MegOp - ‘Nuff said. She’s the founder of the goddamn site. You’re damn straight I’m going to fawn over her fic. Also it’s fucking good, founding the site aside. I cried. I cried so fucking much. I dripped tears like a sponge.

The White Road by perverse_idyll - Harry Potter/Snarry - One day, comfortably set up in the afterlife, Lily Evans Potter switches on the telly and gets hooked on the Harry Potter show. - Okay, first, this is the only time I’ve literally ever seen one-sided Snily where Lily was the one pining. Anyway, the summary explains the premise, but doesn’t do it justice. Lily watches down on the many possible universes that contain her son’s future from a comfy spot in the afterlife. The relationship between literally everyone in the fic and Severus is… exquisitely-detailed and heart-wrenchingly painful. I’d die for this fic, so I could read a million versions of it in the afterlife.

Rapture by mia_ugly - Harry Potter/Snarry - Snape sees the man, for the first time, on his twenty-fifth birthday. - I fucking bawled my eyes out the first time I read this. And the second. And the third. Dumbledore gives Harry a time-travelling watch for his birthday. A watch that travels to a young Severus, who Harry gets to know. On a pretense, of course. And then he falls in love with him. They both do. It’s absolutely agonising angst, but it has a happy ending. It will fucking pack a punch though, so get the tissues ready. This one is perhaps my favourite Snarry fic of all time. Period. Please don’t pass it up. The writing is so fucking amazingly-crafted. I would sell my soul to write like this.

Shell Game by forthegreatergood - DCU/Superbat - Batman wants Superman. Superman wants Batman. Eventually they'll get it sorted out. - An absolutely spot-on identity porn fic. As cheesy as the summary sounds, this fic hits hard. And it has sex pollen. Who can resist sex pollen? Pun intended, maybe.

Every Superbat fic by Susiecarter. - DCU/Superbat - Susie is a friend of mine (fucking,,, don’t know how I managed that one, apparently I write good enough fic for them to read,,, astonishing), and one of Superbat fandom’s greatest contributors. One of DCEU fandom’s greatest contributors, in fact. Everything they’ve written is a masterpiece. But the ultimate fav? as to which may be the true. Hands down. IDENTITY PORN GALORE.

The Long Hangover by CoffioCake - DCU/Superbat - Clark knows he should take a break: His powers are on the fritz, he feels like shit, and Batman’s treating him like a liability. But Gotham's villains seem to have it in for Metropolis' Big Blue Boy Scout and Clark won't just wait around for answers. Batman might be the world’s greatest detective, but Clark Kent is one of the Daily Planet’s most tenacious reporters.//This is definitely a job for Superman. - Okay, I can’t promise another Superbat won’t show up on this list. I’m a sucker for it. I’m also a sucker for case fic. Which is this. It’s so good. So good.

No Glory (and everything else in the HP fandom) by ObsidianPen - Harry Potter/Tomarry/WIP - The Dark Lord divines what Harry Potter is in the Forbidden Forest, and revelations lead to incomprehensible consequences. Lord Voldemort has won... and the dystopia is damning.//A tale of a fallen hero, dark desires, and a Dark Lord's obsession with something he has lost and finds himself unwillingly lusting after: a soul. - This is a Voldemort wins!AU. A fucking delicious one. If only my own Tomarry could aspire, by god. The imagery in this is so vivid I could swear it was painted on my eyelids. The concept of soul magic and interpretations on Horcruxes is unique and perfectly-executed. Honestly, everything Obsidian has ever written for HP is perfectly-executed. I would probably consider this the definitive Tomarry/Harrymort fic. Seriously.

It Cages a Demon by TripleX_Tyrant - Rick & Morty/C137cest/WIP - When Rick captures a powerful being from a demonic dimension - a demon with the ability to devour thoughts - Morty's consciousness is pulled into the demon's cage. Rick must go in after him before Morty's consciousness is completely consumed. But this isn't what the inside of the cage should look like. And if Rick wants to save Morty, he'll have to survive in a place where paths are unclear and monsters manifest.//Rick knew his own mind was complex. But he wasn't ready for this. - A goddamn Silent Hill-style horror mystery AU??????? FOR RICKMORTY? Yep, you heard me. And every second of it is liquid gold. It’s also gory as all fuck and pants-shittingly terrifying at times, so read at your own risk. But if you can risk it, please do. It’s honestly the best execution of C137cest I’ve seen outside of Harmon’s own damn writing lmao.

The Book of Secrets by Are - Downton Abbey/Thommy - With a war of words and wills, Jimmy Kent and Thomas Barrow embark on a strange romance. Set Post Christmas Special. - Thommy is another rare-ish (now, post-2016) pairing that I would die for. And everything Are has ever written for the pairing could kill me and I would thank it. But TBS is the best. Jimmy finds Thomas’ diary (and poetry book), which was also the diary (and sketchbook) of Courtenay before his passing, and learns more about his past and his innermost thoughts. It’s the most haunting, heartbreaking, poignant fic in the pairing. It ends well, but the journey you’ll take from the first chapter is one I would pay money to experience for the first time again. I literally couldn’t even breathe for a while after this. Lapsi’s fic has the same effect, so if you’ve worked through that one by now, be prepared.

Mad Man by griseldajane - MCU/Thorki - In all the years they spent together, it never occurred to Loki that there might be a time when Thor would not be available to him. The god of mischief conceals himself, coming and going as he pleases, doing what he wants.//That Thor might one day do the same never crossed his mind. - All the mindfuckery a Convinced-You-Were-in-an-Insane-Asylum-the-Whole-Time!fic entails and more. If you have issues with dissociating from reality, this is probably a bit much, because it absolutely nails everything about derealisation, delusional thinking, and paranoia. GOD, if you’re willing to let your mind take that battering, though, it’s a damn work of art.

Switch by Ceres_Libera - Star Trek/McKirk - The life and times of Leonard H. McCoy MD/PhD … If Leonard McCoy's life could get any fucking weirder, it would be … Jesus, he didn't even want to think what that could possibly mean, because it's already been too fucking weird to make any kind of rational sense.//A Starfleet Academy story, set in the ST:XI universe. - The ultimate McKirk fic imho. We’ll get to my ultimate Spirk fic in a second. Please do read this. It’s everything you could want out of an Academy!fic. Especially a roommates/UST!fic.

Black Mirror by DarthNickels - Star Wars/Gen - The Ghost crew returns to the Lothal when they hear the Empire is investigating the Jedi Temple there. They learn Vader is alone and decide to take him out-- but what they find could change the course of Galactic history. - What, you think I don’t read Gen? I read Gen!!!! Look at all this Gen I read. Put simply, Dad!Vader redemption arc set in the Rebels era. FUCKING,,, what more could I ask for,,, literally. What more?????????? Sci-fi mystery??? ASKING FOR MORE WHOMMMMMST’VE????

The Lotus Eaters by aldora89 - Star Trek/Spirk - Stranded on the planet Sigma Nox while searching for a missing away team, Spock and Kirk find themselves pitted against a disturbing native life form. With the captain out of commission on a regular basis and Spock struggling to preserve his stoicism, staying alive is difficult enough – but when a slim chance for escape surfaces, their resolve is truly put to the test. Together they must fight for survival in the heart of an alien jungle, and in the process, uncover the mystery of the planet’s past. Slow build K/S. - Here’s that aforementioned ultimate Spirk fic. Okay, what, it’s sci-fi mystery again. Give me a break. You just heard how much I would absolutely die for it. Seriously, there is no Spirk fic I adore more than this. I mean, I adore an absolute shittonne of Spirk fics, but this one is my raison d’etre.

In Good Company by weialala - Naruto/Sasunaru - This will sound a little ridiculous, no matter how Sasuke phrases it. I see dead people is embarrassingly tacky, and I'm half-spirit seems like something Sakura might say when she's stoned sky high. So he settles for a shrug. - Sasuke sees dead people. Sasuke bonds with the goddamn fae. Kuchiyose no Jutsu taken to the fucking max. An epic that does what The Last pretty much couldn’t. Shippuden who???

The Boy Who Died A Lot by starcrossedgirl - Harry Potter/Snarry - Harry’s always been known as The Boy Who Lived. Only Severus knows that this is a lie. (Or: a portrait of Severus Snape, in seven acts.) - Oh, there’s Snarry again. Bite me. This is my second (third? Tied with the White Road?) favourite Snarry fic. Time travel, almost Groundhog Day style. Severus has to go back and fix every mistake Harry makes that leads to his untimely death throughout the seven books. I honestly could believe this is what really happened, and we just don’t know otherwise because Rowling hasn’t deigned to make this shit up and put a woke spin on it yet.

Kisses Cursed by The_Fictionist - Harry Potter/Tomarry - Fairytale AU. Loosely inspired by Beauty and the Beast.//Some said he was once a man, cursed, and some that he sold his soul to demons and became one in turn. Others said that such evil as he could never have been human. That he was instead a nightmare, left lingering upon the earth a very long time ago.//Harry just knew it wasn't safe to walk near the Riddle House after dark. - Not just a fairytale AU, but a MYSTERY(!!!!) fairytale!AU. Okay, who’s gotten that I love mystery by now? This one is amazing, no matter how many puzzle pieces have slotted into place. The ride is a wild one and a great one. My second favourite Tomarry fic. I’d rank more of The_Fictionist’s higher, but they’ve deleted a lot of their old stuff, despite me absolutely adoring it.

Supp. 2d 143 (D.D.C. 2015) by fallingvoices & radialarch - MCU/Stucky - The Associated Press @AP//Winter Soldier set to stand trial for Washington D.C. massacre and treason apne.ws/1og6SWE - Both an epistolary/media fic and a case fic? Sign me tf up. Came out mere seconds (I exaggerate a little) after TWS, which I instantly fell in love with in theatres (still my fav MCU movie, folks). Details what a trial would be like for James Buchanan Barnes, should the MCU function more like real life, all in newspaper/tweet/blog form. Best way I’ve seen epistolary!fic formatted, tbh. Only on the AO3, huh?

The Mirror by cloudyjenn - Supernatural/Destiel - When Dean touches a strange mirror, he's whisked away to one alternate reality after another and it doesn't take him long to realize the universe is trying to tell him something. - I love dimension hopping. And it’s for my first ever hardcore fandom (besides Pokemon), too! I usually see dimension hopping more in sci-fi and superhero fandoms, so it was nice to see it in fantasy, too. A million alternate dimensions where Dean and Cas are in love. It’s definitely a message. :eyes emoji:

Stay With Me (home is where your mind is.) by sara_holmes - Marvel/Stony - Where Steve doesn’t quite die, ends up stranded in the multiverse and would quite like to know how the hell so many versions of himself ended up sleeping with Tony Stark. Well, that’s going to make things a tad awkward when he gets home. - Speaking of dimension hopping in superhero fandoms. This is honestly the most interesting way I’ve seen dimension hopping played out. Or rather, dimension consolidating. Steve ends up in a purgatory-style void populated only by other versions of himself from throughout the Multiverse. Like the Mirror, there’s definitely a message being sent here about how many versions of him are doing the do with a certain genius playboy billionaire philanthropist.

Thicker than Water by StarkatHeart - Marvel/Stony/Superfamily - Neither of them would admit it, but blood does count for something.//When Peter Parker discovers his biological father is actually none other than Tony Stark, it's not exactly news that's well received. By either party. But they're Avengers. They're teammates. They'll just have to work through it. ...Or maybe just ignore it. - On a completely different note from Starker, or not-so-different, depending on how depraved you like your fic to be flavoured, Peter as Tony’s biological son. This is pure Superfamily, not a hint of fucked up incest to be found. Though if anyone has any fucked up incest recs, I’m down to get my dirty paws on them.

I Got a Soul but I’m Not a Soldier by starandrea - Supernatural/Destiel - AU: Castiel is on the road (saving people, helping things) when he meets Dean and realizes that his soul is different - and not just because he's the pastor's son. - Here it is again, my favourite trope (well, I’d call it a trope, if there were more than a dozen or so fics for it). If you haven’t read RAIF, I’m wondering if you’ve caught on yet. ;P.

Chosen Man by Sineala - The Eagle/Marcus x Esca - The son of the man who lost the Eagle of the Ninth would never be allowed a first command of his very own fort, would he?//Marcus is posted not to Isca Dumnoniorum, but to a wretched and run-down garrison north of the Wall. There he finds that he is the new centurion of a group of scouts and spies, all of them British. He has few supplies and no experience. His men distrust him. His superiors despise him. His second-in-command is an incompetent drunkard. And the local tribes are determined to kill all of them.//But the worst thing of all is one of Marcus' soldiers. He is an enigmatic, dangerous, and insubordinate man by the name of Esca, who makes Marcus yearn for terrifying things he has never before wanted and can never, ever let himself have… - Sine pretty much engineered the Eagle fandom.

I followed them from the Eagle and into all their other ventures, too, and when they started writing for Stony I practically screamed in excitement. PLEASE read their Stony, if it’s the only Stony you ever read.

But why would the gondolier have lied? It was a heavy accusation. In both Firenze and Venezia, mere allegations of unnatural conduct had condemned men to be pilloried or hanged. - My favourite EzioLeo fic of all time. Everything Phoe has ever written is a gem, but this one takes the cake. Have I said that already? A lot of cake is being taken. Please read. It’s the epitome of what makes EzioLeo good.

Naked to Mine Enemies by mundungus42 - Pirates of the Caribbean/Sparrington - The Pirate Code doesn't expressly command its adherents to repay debts that bridge life and death, but the Code is more of a set of guidelines, anyway. Sparrow/Norrington, set after At World's End, ignores all films released thereafter. - A classic fic for a classic ship. My ship pun both is and isn’t intended. I’d read this one over and over. Okay, I already do. Whenever I go back to Sparrington, I go back to this.

The Persistence of Iron by Sylvia - Marvel/X-Men Cinematic Universe/Cherik - Waking up in a lab with no memories and a blue-eyed stranger calling him by someone else's name is only the beginning of Erik's problems.- Sci-fi mystery. You don’t need to ask me to clarify at this point, do you? Cloning tech? CLONING TECH? DE-AGING CLONING TECH? So many favourite tropes.

It’s a goddamn sex tape scandal!fic. Glorious.

In This White Wave I Am Sinking by queeniegalore - Generation Kill/Bradray - He felt like he wasn’t really living, like he was in an in-between state, something that came between war and real life, something like purgatory. - The atmosphere for this is consistently beautiful and bittersweet.

Okay, that’s about it for now. Save for an honourable mention to one of the fics that I started off with in the SPN fandom. I’d honour some more, but most everything’s been purged at this point. Come on, 2012!fandom, stop hiding behind how “cringe” you think shit was. I want my fic back.

Wow, my tastes have always been, well, my tastes. Believe it or not, best place I can find it is a Waybackmachine archive of a creepypasta uploading site that went defunct a while back. I never found out the original author. But here it is, Missing, the first ever slash fic I stumbled across.

If you guys want more, I can definitely provide more. I have thousands of bookmarks. These are just my very, very favourites. What ones are still remaining on AO3, anyway. This is why I save most in PDFs. Though there are a few completely lost to time, and I’m pretty sure the OTW says fuck you to Waybackmachine, which. Uhghgh. Please. I want my nostalgia rush back.

On Nov 5, Darren wrote this post and the cc fandom lost their shit.

They decided that organizing 10 costumes for multiple events in two different states for two different people was not worthy of acknowledgment- especially since they wore several purchased costumes. They spent the next 30-ish days mocking her “online shopping skills” like the petty idiots they are and now they bring it up two months later.

ajw720 answered: The only difference, C controls his SM and the bearding, D does not, but they knew the Halloween post was coming when C posted his belated b-day wishes (not that he acknowledged they were late).

It really is, if you can remove the very human, tragic element, like a script for a really bad D Movie. C posts “Happy Birthday, Babe!” a day after the man’s actual b-day and “D” praises his fake bride for MAKING TEN costumes. Sure praise her if she actually designed them and sat with her sewing machine. No, she went online and ordered things (I doubt she even went to a store). And 3 couple costumes were cheap frankly. The only thought was how narcissistic she could be in their execution (as @flowersintheattic254pointed out even the Mario costume had a reason, it was a reminder of Japan and the fake encagement by referring to the ad that paid for their trip there).

And seriously how are people not questioning that she spent the entirety of her month picking TEN costumes? Who has time for this? I know, i know, a person whose only role in life is to play fake plus one.

I am just so tired by D in particular being utterly dragged down by the useless dead weight by his side and his team’s sole ambition to promote her and make her sound like a decent person.

If they wanted to praise her, maybe they should have forced her to participate in the zero waste initiative instead of sitting drinking by the pool or have her volunteer to help young girls who have been kicked out of their homes, or have been raped. Or pick any cause and truly volunteer her time to promote it. If she is not going to actually get a job and pursue a career, please force her to do something that is actually of value and contribute something good to the world. But to praise her for picking TEN costumes?

Praise that comes from a man who this year alone won three awards, is starring in a show he created and wrote the music for, has his first big movie premiere this week, is exec producer and star of a huge show on N/etflix, just announced his starring role with 2 A++ lists actors next spring on Broadway, celebrated the 5th anniversary of the festival he created, volunteered his time for the zero waste initiative, performed at several charity events, and was just yesterday name limited series actor of the decade. Where is the praise for him from his “bride”? He at least deserves it.

How do they not see how ridiculous it is for someone with D’s accomplishments in 2019 alone praise a person for purchasing TEN costumes for Halloween? And stans, how do you accept that this is right or normal. You really know nothing about him and have such little respect for him as a person if you continue to accept the character his idiotic team has created on his behalf. It is so far from the person he is and that he generally holds himself out to be when given the opportunity.

This isn’t about being a “gay fetishist” or “hating woman” this is about wanting for D to be fairly and accurately represented and no longer forced to participate in this stupid, life sucking game to promote a person that contributes absolutely nothing to the world. If you want to have a strong female role model, there are so many, i’ve talked about a few in the past few days (thus far Nancy, Lea, and Phoebe) and will continue to do so, but please stop worshiping a person whose sole reason you are speaking about her is her connection to D, even if you refuse to accept it is fake.

And all I can think of is how irrelevant the statement D made about being an emotional horder, being a very private person and finally D saying he's lazy when it comes to social media, I'm internally screaming in frustration because yeah we know D wouldn't have written a post praising that lazy good for nothing waste of space but he's coming across as a lier and it's extremely damaging to his character as a person. I absolutely hate lying and every time another "private" moment is posted to the world is another small piece that's chipped away from what D has originally stated about privacy. PBB, nobody cares about your cheap arse highly flammable costumes you buy online, did you forget about your piano baby adult strip club. I'm sure there are still plenty of people out there you can hire to rub and flaunt their flanges all over the beer taps, why don't you keep busy on that instead. If you want to make costumes, I'm sure you can sew some mighty fine titty tassels together. It'll be cheap nasty, sound familiar.

souly So, let me get this straight. We should all praise a person for going online, looking up different costumes in online stores, putting those in their shopping basket and hitting “buy”? Because I do that at least once a week with other stuff. Do I get praised for that now? Pretty please? I’m doing good work there and buy a lot of stuff, therefore I must be the best person ever!

Whenever I see miarren gifset they always use the same quote underneath (the rolling the windows down quote) and at first I rolled my eyes and thought uh not that quote again, and I can't believe it took me this long to realise it's because there is literally no other quote that can be construed as loving. And pretty much the only one. Guess saying he’s a ball and chain kind of guy isn’t romantic. They can’t even take pooping exes as he clearly steered the conversation away from her. Lovely lady of many moons? Nah she sounds like a stranger. Saying nothing changes after marriage? Sounds boring. It’s a struggle.
