yes I'm a Christian writer. Yes I'm a Christian artist. Yes I'm a Christian whatever--I'm so tired of people being like "I'm not a Christian ___, I'm actually a ______ who is Christian" what?!? No! Say the "Christian" part of my identification louder, it's the only part that matters.
I have been crucified with Christ, therefore it is no longer I who live! No longer I who put pen to paper! No longer I who type! No longer I who thinks and plans and practices and works and communicates--it's Christ who lives in me! He must increase! I must decrease!
If you're a Christian, knock that bogus worldly self-centered crap about "no I'm not part of the 'Christian genre' so I'm not a 'Christian whatever,' because I want to be taken seriously," off. Knock it off, shut up, get out of here with that.
Who cares if you're taken seriously? Who are you doing this for? For others? For Christ? Or just for you and your own credit and your own status? Get away from me with that. Ugh.
Anything you do in your life is supposed to be for Christ. You died. You said He was in charge of you from now on--You said He was the sum total of your identity, from now on. Did you mean it? Or did you mean, "everything except my special interests and career?" Of course not.
Anything you do in your life is supposed to be for Christ. That includes your art, your music, your hobby, your writing, your job. You should be so fortunate, so favored, to be called a "Christian" anything. You're not identifying with the "Christian genre," you're identifying with Christ. The word Christian doesn't mean "little Skillet" or "little Frank Peretti" or "little Dallas Jenkins." The word Christian means "little Christ."
You should be so fortunate to be called "Christian" anything, like the disciples were beside themselves with joy to be called "Christian" prisoners and "Christian" slaves. Because they got to be associated with Christ.
Since publishers care so much more now about authors having followers (and even self publish seems to need it), how do you recommend writers just starting to get some? I’m working on my first book, but feel really discouraged by how online-centric the field has become since I’m definitely more introverted and not big on social media.
Hey, I know exactly what you mean. I've never really considered myself a social media person--this blog is my first like public social media account and I really had no idea it would make it to where it is now.
Some authors believe that their work will speak for itself, that they don't need to play the social media game in order to get published or sell books. I don't really trust that--especially not when the other writers publishers are looking at are on social media. That's just free marketing, and who would turn down saving money?
So here's what I'll say about it: start small. Start with one writing blog that you think no one will ever really find. Or an instagram where you post quotes or screenshots of writing advice (credit them, though!).
Follow other accounts doing the same thing. There's some writing accounts on instagram I follow just to see how other people are doing it, @alex.wrtng and @coffeebeanwriting (on here and insta) are both good ones. There's a lot of ways to do it depending on the kind of stuff you want to post.
The good news is--if you're consistent and stick to it, the people will find you, and as long as you're not on a more video-centric social media, you don't really ever have to show your face or reveal who you are. Eventually you'll get a little bit more comfortable in it.
It kind of just takes one moment where you have to be so so brave, and then it gets easier after that. And hey, if you start something, send me a message and I'll be your first follower :)

"stay with me, johnny. stay with me. stay with me. stay with me. stay with me. stay with me. stay with me. stay with me, stay with me..."

the story to this is that soap was running to cover when a sniper shot his side. the bullet went from his right shoulder, through his chest, pierced his heart, and through his left arm. ghost unfortunately witnessed it unfold. he couldn't help but hug the helpless soap that has no chance of survival whilst desperate to keep him conscious. soap, on the other hand, couldn't speak nor move due to shock, but he could feel ghost hugging him tightly as everything turned to black.
fright night 2011 remake 🤝 heathers musical adaptation
changing the characterization of the protagonist to recently have fallen in with the mean “popular” crowd at school abandoning their “uncool” childhood best friend for social clout only to realize that they were wrong after their friend almost dies, presumably to make the protagonist more relatable/likable because they are the audience-insert character while still aligning them with a group of characters that the audience is supposed to hate for plot reasons
This semester I'll have to make a short film based on David Fincher's directing style for uni!! It's gonna be a long long project. Right now I'm gathering as much information as I can, so if you know any good resource I would totally appreciate it!!!!
When it comes to queer rep in media, I have what I like to call the Grandma Test. If my grandmother sits down to read a book or watch a tv show/movie and can come away from it understanding fully that a certain character is queer, then it passes as decent representation for me. If she doesn’t understand it fully, then it could still count depending on the circumstances but usually I won’t think highly of it
"X is so genderidentity-coded" this "Z is b-sexuality and i will fight people on this" that, "10001 reasons why character C is [insert sexuality, gender identity, disability etc.]" shmat.
can we just go back to saying "I headcanon this character as being X, Y, Z"
If I see one more person use "[insert disability, gender identity, sexuality]-coded" in context of
"I personally view them as [sexuality] and a representation of [sexuality] and it's a positive thing and I will be upset if someone disagrees"
My brain will melt.
No one will fight you over headcanons, but some people will fight you over saying that a canonically pansexual character is 'actually lesbian/asexual/gay etc.'
No mundo da crítica cinematográfica, existem certos filmes que deixam um impacto duradouro no público. A Thousand and One (2023) é um desses filmes.
Outro aspecto que me cativou nesse filme é a ambientação.
A arte é esteticamente deslumbrante e transmite perfeitamente a atmosfera do filme.
other people watch yorgos lanthimos films and debate over the context and plot and what it all means i watch them and go "exactly right" and never think about them again because i understood perfectly what he meant by all that
