Yo! Humble Bundle has a great deal on art software and resources going on for $30 USD (about $40ish CAD) that comes with a 1 year license for Clip Studio Paint PRO, a license for Paintstorm Studio, AND a license for Realistic Paint! I probably shouldn't be allowed to talk about computers while zonked on progesterone but I've genuinely really struggled to like KDE plasma. the idea behind it is cool and design wise i should like it, but it's always just been a bit too weird for me.

yes it's customisable but there's just so many little things that frustrate me about it, like the faint grey outline symbolising a minimised program instead of something more visible, or the program icon showing up next to the cursor when launching something. combined with all the packaged software (that yes you can go without but most people don't) that starts with a K and isn't just called like "terminal" or "settings" and stuff makes for a bit of an overwhelming experience.

i do genuinely understand why people like it, and I'm certainly biased with my daily use of cinnamon. but it's sort of just an overwhelming and kind of frustrating experience that feels like it's trying to do too much and have their own version of every program they could and it's all just a bit too much sharp angles and blue for my liking. even though the full oxygen theme rules so hard.

it's kinda sad that it's trickier to get cinnamon looking good on non mint distros (tho probably not that hard i might just be bad at computers) because thats the main reason I've actually used KDE. this is all an issue of personal taste, but i think for me the issue is the design language *is* very consistent and I think it's a bad looking design language (despite it obviously being sleek and what a lot of people really like)

Electron is honestly one of my least favorite libraries ever. I hate it so, SO much. This is the reason why computing power keeps increasing yet windows keeps feeling less and less responsive, and SO many developers half-ass their desktop web clients with it.

My graphics driver (and yours too if you're on windows and have an nvidia card) shouldn't install a permanently active copy of node.js just to run a local web server which it uses to draw its UI (which it never shuts down because this is also used for the task tray).

Discord's desktop app is also bundled through electron. Launch it, look at the task manager, and notice that it's using over 500MB of ram just to display the login screen.
