the cacophony version of the song labour by paris paloma just hits me so hard. the female solidarity of so many women painting and drawing and singing and doing archery and dancing and just being themselves all together gives me goosebumps. the song itself is so good, with almost every line having so many different meanings but i was struck by the weight of how it resonates with so many women all over the world💗
(For context, this was about Paris Paloma’s song, Labour, which is about the unfair treatment of women in society; both comments were found on a post with Dick Grayson and Jason Todd with the song “The Fruits” also by Paloma, which is about how unfairly society perceives/treats women regarding SA.)
*please leave the posters alone btw this is not meant to be an attack or anything*
All day, every day, therapist, mother, maid
Nymph then a virgin, nurse then a servant
Just an appendage, live to attend him
So that he never lifts a finger
24-7, baby machine
So he can live out his picket fence dreams
It's not an act of love if you make her
You make me do too much labour
the above lyrics of "labour" by Paris Paloma are hidden in the drawing
I’ve mentioned it before, but I headcanon that Donita may have been in a toxic relationship in the past, and my OC Violet was in a toxic relationship prior to Zach…I also kind of think this might have been a possibility for Paisley’s past too…So, I imagine karaoke night with the villain girls: Donita, Violet, Paisley, Yssa (the oc of the wonderful @lovelybakerandconstructionworker ) goes something like this:
youtube
Like they are literally screaming, singing it toward the end….
All: All day, every day, therapist, mother, maid
Nymph then a virgin, nurse then a servant
Donita: Just an appendage, live to attend him
Paisley: So that he never lifts a finger
Violet: 24∕7, baby machine
Yssa: So he can live out his picket-fence dreams
Violet: It's not an act of love if you make her
All: You make me do too much labour
And the guys are just watching them in a mixture of confusion, amusement, and fear.
Dabio: They look really angry…
Rex: Don’t tell them that…it will just aggravate them more…
Gourmand: I’ve never heard Little Sugar sing like that…you better be glad you’re not her ex Zachy…
Zach: You don’t think I realize that? She’s terrifying once you get on her bad side….

Honestly there’s nothing wrong with being a housewife who doesn’t work, takes care of the kids, a boss ass bitch in the kitchen and is surrounded by laundry, just in the same way there is nothing wrong with being financially independent, is boss ass bitch at work with nights out and sending your laundry to the cleaners.
It’s wrong when a woman is either degraded for both, or forced into either. Because apparently it’s hard to let a woman make a decision on her life by herself.
If we had a daughter
I'd watch and could not save her
The emotional torture
From the head of your high table
She'd do what you taught her
She'd meet the same cruel fate
So now I've gotta run
So I can undo this mistake
At least I've gotta try
