i just wanted to thank you for talking about how underdiagnosed ocd is because the worlds perception of ocd had be convinced there was no way i could have it but after looking into it ive realized it is exactly what i have and exactly what has made my life hell for . well my entire life. its so frequently waved off as "just anxiety", even when i was having panic attacks so bad i couldnt function id get told other people have it worse and im just overdramatic. its been legitimately life saving to know that i have ocd. some of my intrusive thoughts put me in a really really horribly dark place before i knew they didnt reflect who i actually am.

that's exactly why i talk about it as often as i do. i don't think it's anyone on here's particular fault for not knowing they have ocd, but i do think it's something not a lot of people would ever consider because any anxiety they have gets handwaved. and bc so many people on the internet aren't aware they have it, they sometimes do and say things that are very much symptoms of ocd, and it hurts to see that. it took me a long time to get medicated + treated for it that i was, like, physically shaking when i finally got the damn diagnosis. it was literally ruining my life between the bipolar and the constant intrusive thoughts. i was taking 8+ classes a semester and blowing up all of my relationships and self-harming and not sleeping and spending every single hour of the day either with someone or with the tv on bc i could not stand to be alone with my thoughts, while basically being gaslit by my mom abt it (for reference she's a therapist so she knew damn well it wasn't 'just anxiety'). and i think a lot of people w ocd

Saw a tweet online that was like "they've done good guy Megatron what if they tried writing bad guy Optimus (not SG)" and it made me think

My brother in christ IDW1 is the closest we got to bad guy Optimus (there's literally a chapter called "All Hail Optimus" for fuck's sake) and people lost their fucking minds over it and to this day the fandom barely acknowledges that IDW Optimus exists even though he was just morally gray and not even evil.

People SAY they want morally gray/evil Optimus but they actually don't and it's never going to happen lol. Not only is Hasbro never going to let their precious marketing icon turn evil but the fanbase would fucking hate an evil Optimus and call him OOC and not a real Optimus and replace him with some other version

Hmm seeing some miss info about early hominids specifically early Homo sapiens being spread around by people who seem to be using modern humans as there reasoning why certain things about the hunting dinamics of human species that predate Homo sapiens and vice versa couldnt be true seemingly implying that hunting and foraging patterns couldn’t have changed over the multiple hundreds of thousands of years that evolution has taken place during and I don’t want to draw attention to my self because like the post has so few notes and it’s a couple years old but it’s blatantly wrong and drawing incorrect conclusions using a couple nature articles as their sources and the whole thing seems to be written by someone who if they do have a science background it’s clearly not in paleo anthropology and while I do have a degree in bio anthropology and archaeology I do not feel like wasting my time arguing on the internet about it

Edit: Oh I read through the notes and somebody a year ago read them for filth with actual scientific arguments and sources good! That post also called out the lowkey racism I didn’t quite realize I was picking up from the original post

take note of which governments avoid talking about this - Australia certainly is doing everything they can to avoid doing anything. so far our Foreign Minister, Penny Wong, has made a sternly worded tweet (source: ABC, 19 July 2024, archived), which I'm sure has Netanyahu quaking in his boots, while taking no action and while the Australian government still supplies arms to Israel (probably - the Aus-Israel defence deal isn't transparent enough to know for sure, but there is definitely weapons trade of some kind and weapons-related export from Aus of some kind. ABC, 9 April 2024, archived).

since the sources in the OP are tweets, which can be changed/deleted, I've also grabbed a reasonably good summary from the SBS (noting it doesn't go into detail on the rulings like the tweets do, but the first ABC link above does a bit).

It's worth mentioning that (to the best of my understanding reading the news) this is a ruling as a result of a case started in 2022 about the settlements since 1967, and is not the same as the case South Africa is bringing about genocide since Oct 7 2023. That case is still ongoing as of July 2024 and is unlikely to wrap up soon since ICJ cases take years.
