SPIRITED AWAY SENTENCES. // accepting!
@sinsolucion : ❛ i'd like to help you, but there's nothing i can do. it's one of our rules here. ❜
"that's... that's it? you can't do anything?"
frustration bubbled and frothed just beneath the surface, incapable of fully accepting that this was out of the hands of those who were supposed to help.
"i know i don't have evidence, but i... i know he took it. he's the only one who could."
an attempt at false confidence brought his voice into a desperate lift, golden eyes searching the face of the officer who looked no older than him. atticus had thought this would be clean and cut--a classmate stole his laptop, the police would help him retrieve it, problem solved.
but the combination of a lack of photographic evidence, zero eye witnesses, and it all occurring on the university's private campus, resulting it being at the discretion of campus police, who already told him it was a no-go...
atticus's teeth grit, angry at his helplessness, and angry at the system. he couldn't afford another laptop. he had skipped months worth of meals and saved every dollar he could to afford it. he already was testing the limits of what little aid he had--he couldn't risk retaking expensive classes just because he couldn't access the online materials, and library computers could only do so much.
"... okay, i understand."
like that, the waves of anger settled into understanding, and he apologetically bowed his head--an old habit enforced by his mother.
"thank you for your time, officer."
the police could not help--so, that simply meant he had to do as he had always done, which was handle it alone.

Since the fact that the current bat family ages makes no sense and absolutely infuriates me, here are my headcanon ages
For Bruce a lot of sources have him becoming Batman at 25, that part makes sense but that would mean, on my personal timeline, he would be 44 now and that just seems kind of old to me to still be a vigilante. So I headcanon him as becoming Batman at 22 and adopting Dick at 23. This puts him at 28, for Damian's birth, with Dick being around 17/18 and off with the titans and probably college. It also puts him at 32 for Jason's death. Currently, he's 41
Tl;dr Bruce became Batman at 22, adopted Dick at 23, conceived Damian at 28, and is currently 41
Pre-reboot established that Barbara was a couple years older than Dick, also that she became Batgirl around the time she was starting college. She graduated high school early at 16 meaning she was about 17/18 when she became batgirl. Dick would be around 15 at this time. I've seen some sources say that the events of The Killing Joke (and Death of the Family, which happens a few months after) took place when she was late 20s. This doesn't quite work with the Robins timeline as she was only Batgirl during Dick and Jason's time as Robin. 23/24 makes more sense on the greater timeline. Currently she is 33.
Tl;dr Barbara became Batgirl at 17/18, got shot at 24 and became Oracle shortly after. Currently 33.
Several different sources give different ages for how old Dick was when his parents died, ranging from 8 to 15. We do know that Tim was 3 when he saw Dick's parents die at the circus, so if Dick was 8, the timeline wouldn't be big enough for his and Jason's career as Robin before Tim at 13 takes up the mantel. 12 seems like the most reasonable age for Dick to be for the timeline. This puts him at 18/19 when he goes off to college, quitting the Robin mantle and taking up Nightwing. At 28 he takes up the mantle of Batman with Damian, age 11 as his Robin. He is currently 30.
Tl;dr Dick gets adopted by Bruce at 12, becomes Nightwing at 19 and is currently 30.
Jason's timeline is fairly straightforward. We know he died at 15 and was only Robin for about 2 years. So it makes sense for him to have been picked up by Bruce at 12 and trained for 6ish months and debuted as Robin by the time he's 13. Post death timeline is a little more shaky. He came back to life a few months after his death and wandered the streets for about a year. Talia found him and tried to help him recover, with little results. After about a year or so of that Ra's wants to send Jason away so Talia throws him in the pit. He's around 18/19 at this point. He does travel, training like Bruce did but I don't think it was for nearly as long and he makes his return to Gotham at 20/21. He's currently 24.
Tl;dr Jason became homeless at 10, adopted at 12 and debuted as Robin at 13. Died at 15 and returned to Gotham at 20. Currently 24
Cassandra Cain is slightly older than Jason, by a few months. We know this as she was stated to be 18 in a batgirl issue released in 2004, and a few months later in another comic run Bruce and her visit Jason’s grave and he tells her that it would be Jason’s 18th birthday. With comic timelines this could mean she is anywhere between 1y3m or just 3m older than Jason. Unfortunately I am not too well versed in cass’ history to make a chronological breakdown of her life events.
Tl;dr Cass is approximately a year older than Jason. Currently 24
Now that we are further down in the list the ages are a lot clearer. DC was a lot more willing to give specific ages to characters during the era. So we know that Stephanie Brown is firmly 15 when she becomes Spoiler because she states it. We know that she is still 15 when she is pregnant. After this her timeline has no exact age assigned to it except her death. Stephanie died at 16. This was of course later retconned out and she is discovered alive at 17/18ish and shortly after starts her freshman year of college at either 18 or 19. This is also when she becomes Batgirl.
Tl;dr Stephanie is approximately a year older than Tim and became spoiler at 15. Currently 22
Tim Drake’s ages are fairly clear. He became Robin at 13 approximately 6 months after Jason’s death. He’s a year younger than Stephanie. He takes up the red robin mantle around 17/18
Tl;dr Tim is a year younger than stephanie. He became robin at 13 and is Currently 21
Duke of course is still a relatively new character for DC and one they don’t utilize quite as much as others. They have mentioned his age multiple times in the past several years but is always 16. I do find this hard to let be, as I believe he was also stated to be 16 during the Robin War/We are Robin…. Personally, just to give the guy some range and growth for his age, i do headcanon him as 15 during robin war, where he became a more recurring character in DC and probably about 13 when he is initially introduced. Currently he should be around 17.
Tl;dr DC hates Duke and refuses to think about his age. He was 15 during the Robin War arc, and is currently 17
Damian is another one that is too straight forward as DC is spoon feeding us every next birthday of his. He was 10 when introduced and shortly thereafter became Robin. Most sources state that he also died at 10 but I don’t find the timeline big enough for that so I am going to place him at 11 for that . He was only dead for a couple of months before being resurrected, which would be around 11/12. I believe he just turned 14.
Tl;dr Damian was 10 when introduced and became Robin, Died and resurrected at 11 and is currently 14
TL;DR
Bruce 41
Barbara 32
Dick 30
Cassandra 24
Jason 24
Stephanie 22
Tim 21
Duke 17
Damian 14

Moments before the kickoff of the 118th United States Congress in January, incoming GOP leaders ripped down Nancy Pelosi’s post-insurrection magnetometers, which had stopped at least one Republican, Representative Andy Harris of Maryland, from entering the House floor with a handgun. The first meeting of the House Natural Resources Committee, held on February 1, devolved into partisan vitriol as Republicans reversed an explicit ban on members bringing firearms into their hearings. Soon, AR-15 pins started popping up on rank-and-file lapels. Then, two weeks later, a bill was introduced to make the mass-shooter-approved AR-15 the “national gun of the United States.”
This may be Joe Biden’s Washington, but the US Capitol appears to be, once again, under the firm grip of the gun lobby. With repeated threats of federal government defaults and shutdowns consuming Washington throughout 2023, little attention has been paid to specific agency-by-agency spending proposals, including a House Republican proposal to zero out funding for gun violence research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That effort, part of a House appropriations bill, was postponed after Congress passed a short-term extension to fund the federal government into early next year. But that doesn't mean it won't return then, with powerful Republican lawmakers painting the CDC's research as overtly partisan.
“I think it may have a political component, and that's my concern,” Representative Robert Aderholt, an Alabama Republican, tells WIRED. He’s known as a cardinal on Capitol Hill because he chairs the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, which is tasked with producing the nation’s largest domestic funding measure, including control of the CDC’s budget, each year.
The powerful appropriator isn’t thoroughly versed in the gun violence research his subcommittee is trying to defund, but Aderholt is skeptical anyway. “If it were just honest, innocent research, then I wouldn’t have a problem,” Aderholt says. “But I have some concerns with the way that it’s being handled under this administration.”
Thing is, no one really knows what story the CDC research will tell. It’s only been around for three years after nearly a quarter-century of congressional prohibition under the 1996 Dickey Amendment, which essentially barred the CDC from examining the roots of the uniquely American scourge of gun violence.
“This is about public health,” Rosa DeLauro, the top Democrat on the labor committee, tells WIRED. “We haven’t had it for 20 years. Think about all the research that was done about seatbelts and prevention. So I think about what’s happening with the uptick in gun violence, which is unbelievable … we need to do the research to help us be able to prevent that.”
In 2018, lawmakers upended the Dickey Amendment, explicitly clarifying that the will of Congress is for the CDC to research the contemporary weaponization of America. But federal dollars—which, contrary to GOP concerns, are still strictly forbidden from being used to promote gun control—didn’t start flowing to researchers until 2021. Democrats have pushed for $50 million annually to research America’s second-leading cause of death for people 18 years old or younger. (The first is motor vehicle accidents, which Congress devoted $109.7 million to research in the 2022 fiscal year.) But for the past three years, they’ve only been able to squeeze $25 million a year—split between the CDC and National Institutes of Health—out of Republican senators.
With more than 39,000 gun-related deaths so far in 2023, according to the Gun Violence Archive, America’s on pace to endure another record-setting amount of carnage by year’s end, which you wouldn’t know from the giddily gun-friendly mood on the House side of the Capitol. “I think the Republicans are just nuts on this, you know, the extremes,” Mike Thompson, a Democratic representative from California, tells WIRED. Nuts or not, Republicans control the House.
Even through the tears stemming from America’s recent uptick in gun violence—including homicides, suicides, and mass shootings—the past three years have been an exciting time for researchers in this space, because when the federal government leads, university research follows. The two-plus decades drought has rippled through academia.
“People weren't going into this field because you couldn't make a career in it,” Andrew Morral, who runs RAND Corporation’s Gun Policy in America Initiative, tells WIRED. “It’s the kind of thing where it takes a fair amount of research before you start getting believable findings. I mean, you can have a study or two that show something, but in social science, it's very hard for one or two studies to persuade anyone.”
Morral is also director of the National Collaborative on Gun Violence Research, which is philanthropically endowed with $21 million earmarked for firearm violence prevention research. A few years back, he led a conference with “30 to 100 people.” At the start of the month, when they held their annual meeting in Chicago, there were 750 attendees, including some 300 presenters whose studies ranged from how “guns provide access to sources of life meaning” for some Floridians to whether there’s any correlation between heat waves and shootings.
“A lot of new questions are being asked and new ways of looking at things—this just wasn't possible five years ago,” Morral says. “There [are] people coming into the field now, and that's what the money is doing. It's making it possible to get this field launched. There's a lot of low-hanging fruit here, but it's going to take a lot of research to start getting persuasive findings and it's starting to happen.”
In the wake of horrific mass shootings at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and a grocery store in a predominantly Black neighborhood of Buffalo, New York, last year, before the GOP recaptured the House, Congress passed the sweeping Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA), aimed at improving the nation’s background check system, stymieing gun traffickers, protecting domestic violence survivors, and enhancing mental health services in local communities and schools from coast to coast.
The measure includes billions for mental health, $250 million for community violence intervention programs, and $300 million for violence prevention in the nation’s schools. It also recognizes the federal deficiency in school safety research by creating a Federal School Safety Clearinghouse, envisioned as a repository for the best “evidence-based” research for keeping violence off American school grounds.
That best-practices clearinghouse for schools was a GOP-sponsored provision that made it into the BSCA, but, as WIRED reported last summer, studying gun violence wasn’t a part of negotiations on the measure aimed at curbing gun violence. This latest effort by House Republicans to effectively bar the CDC from researching gun violence has social scientists worried about the real-life consequences of turning off the federal funding tap again. The two Senate Republicans who negotiated the BSCA aren’t worried.
“People misuse research every day,” Senator Thom Tillis, a North Carolina Republican, tells WIRED. The other Republican who had a seat at the head table for last summer’s gun negotiations is one of minority leader Mitch McConnell’s top lieutenants, John Cornyn of Texas—a leading contender for replacing the ailing GOP leader in the Senate—who shrugs off CDC gun violence research. “I don't think there's any shortage of research in that area,” Cornyn tells WIRED. But he bifurcates gun violence research from gun violence prevention. “We haven't been able to figure out how to solve all the crimes. Basically, we've tried to deter them, we've tried to investigate and prosecute them, but we haven't been able to figure out how to prevent them. So that's the basic problem, I think.”
Democrats agree. They also say the reason for that “basic problem” is clear: The CDC—through the chilling effect the federal prohibition had on academia over 24 years—has failed to foster a robust research environment to accompany America’s robust gun culture. But Democrats aren’t looking to pass reforms this Congress. Sure, they want to. But the House is barely performing at its normal rate of functional-dysfunctionality these days (just ask newly-former House speaker Kevin McCarthy). Senate Democrats are willing to have a gun violence prevention debate, but as of now, many say there’s no reason to try and debate House Republicans.
“They're not writing bills that are designed to pass the Senate in order to get signed by the president. They're literally throwing red meat to the fringe on every conceivable issue. That's just not serious,” Senator Chris Murphy, the Connecticut Democrat who was at the center of last summer’s gun reform negotiations, tells WIRED. “At some point, they're going to have to figure out how to pass a bill with us, but they haven't reached that space yet.”

❤️ How does the love in your heart affect how you RP? Any other notable emotions?
Tumblr media
Mun Communication meme
Tumblr media
I gotta say, reading this question made me laugh a bit as, initially, I interpreted it as "are you in a relationship or otherwise have a lot of love in your life and how does that transfer to RP, or are you single?" And I guess that just feels like a bigger deal than it is to me.
Personally, I haven't written this muse in a time I wasn't in love: when I started this blog, I was in a long-term relationship and over the past five years of writing this blog, I've gotten engaged, married, and moved into a new home with my now-husband (and our cat, Molly, who is the real boss around here!).
With that in mind, I think the way I view relationships, romantic, platonic, familial, or otherwise changes with time and perspective. In general, I'm writing a muse who is between the ages of 17 to 25 most of the time, though the longer I write various storylines the more Sonia ages along with them. I'm in my late thirties (my birthday is this month and I'm at an age where I start dreading them!) and I think what has helped me regarding the love in my personal life is being able to look back on what being in love was like at a younger age and the various conflicts and emotions that went along with them. Many of the things I considered important about relationships back then aren't even relevant to me now, but I can write similar feelings for my muse because she's at that age. Granted, she has a lot more pressure regarding marriage on her shoulders than I ever did and was forced to grow up very fast, but it's different writing a character who is in their late teens through mid-twenties looking back on that age than it is to write a character while living through that time in your life offscreen.
And a few other more specific love/romance/ship-related things that affect how I RP:
It's been quite awhile, but I distinctly remember how my approach to writing sexual intimacy changed as I both grew older and, ahem, got some real life experience. Being a virgin at 18-20 years old writing a sex scene versus being in my thirties and married writing a sex scene are two very different situations with very different purposes. Nowadays, if I'm going to write a physically intimate scene in RP I generally want it to have more meaning beyond the muses having sex (which is also why I don't post or send in sinday content! If the storyline I'm building with a writing partner is heading that way, we'll write it, but not simply due to a meme or tumblr trend).
I identify as a cisgender heterosexual woman, but my muse identifies (though she isn't always aware of it depending on the verse!) as a cisgender woman who isn't heterosexual. When writing Sonia, especially in romantic relationships with a character who doesn't identify as a cisgender heterosexual man, I try to read/watch/listen to plenty of experiences in the LGBTQ community. Whether that's news coverage, documentaries, fiction, online communities, and/or my friends' experiences when they are comfortable and interested in opening up about them, I approach it with an open mind and an understanding that this isn't my space, but I want to learn to in order to both support those who are a part of that community as well as try to write my character with authenticity and compassion. The last thing I want is to lean into uncomfortable or inappropriate tropes, fetishization, or other derogatory takes.
The hardest thing here, for me at least, is knowing that Sonia doesn't come from a family, much less a country, that supports her specifically in an LGBTQ relationship. The difficulty is writing that opposition as a challenge that Sonia must face and ultimately overcome if she's to have a recognized relationship and eventual union without making my writing partners feel uncomfortable by the hate and prejudice my character, and at times theirs as well if they're writing a ship with me, experiences.
Communication helps: I trust my writing partners to tell me when that line is crossed and I need to pull it back a bit, and I don't hesitate to do so.
tl;dr - I've written Sonia in romantic ships with men and women, and the smut unfolds organically.

Okay so this is a second attempt at trying to make kind of a age/appearance reference sheet while also tying in a small amount of verse info so here's hoping that it will actually kind of make sense this time?? Especially since I don't really use icons very much anymore and I get the feeling that sometimes it can be hard to get a feeling for what Caleb would look like outside of the context of W/estworld. Even I kinda forget from time to time so this is for my benefit as much as anyone's. Under a cut because it's long.
SEASON 3 PRE-CANON
Tumblr media
ignore the fact that this is a 40 year old man for just a second, everyone keeps casting him in projects that involve playing characters who would've looked significantly different when they were younger and we all just. keep letting him get away with it?? (lookin at you E/l C/amino... also the B/CS cameos...)
Tumblr media
Realistically, Caleb would've looked around THIS young when he went into the army, This was a 19/20 year old actor in this case playing a 17/18 year old character. Appearance-wise, he will look more or less like this in any verse I'm writing where he's a teenager, and also in College V1 since that's a verse where he goes to college instead of joining the army.
Tumblr media
By the time Caleb gets OUT of the military, he'd be around 25 or 26 years old. This is what he looks like in flashbacks in the show...
Tumblr media
This is roughly how he would look instead, although I do keep in mind that the actor was about to turn or had recently turned 30 here, he at least looked young enough to be playing a character who was 24/25 years old.
I generally envision Caleb maintaining an appearance similar to this any time I do threads in verses where he falls between the ages of 25 and 30 years old, mainly Modern V1, and maybe my yet-to-be-developed S/tar T/rek verse. When it comes to canon, it helps put into perspective just how young he still was when Serac's system completely destroyed his life. He wasn't really a kid anymore, but in a lot of ways he still kind of was.
SEASON 3 CANON
Tumblr media
As season 3 canon goes, Caleb is 35 years old, being played by an actor who is 40 but looked pretty much the same way when he was 35. This used to be the age and appearance I'd default to for any thread based in W/estworld canon or post-season 3, and I'd also use it when I had no idea what verse I wanted to use.
SEASON 4 PRE-CANON
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From the end of season 3 to roughly 1 year later, Caleb is 36 and not changed much from before, although he does seem to have let the beard grow a little longer and actually kinda be a beard. His hair grows out a little more while he's in the hospital and starts to lay flat, and he gains a small scar on his left cheek from a laceration which is held closed by butterfly stitches until it heals. We never actually see it, but I headcanon he has a scar on the right side of his abdomen, from where he got shot and had surgery to remove the bullet fragments.
I haven't used this particular appearance for much outside of a few post-season 3 threads set during the riots/war waged against Incite, as it's really not that different from season 3 canon. But maybe I should use it more?
SEASON 4 CANON
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Season 4 Caleb is at least 42 years old, pretty well synced up with the actor who would've been the same age when this was filmed. I will often default to writing Caleb at this age in particular because in my experience, muses over 35yrs tend not to get as much attention as young 20-somethings or early 30-somethings, and muses over 40 frequently get even less attention in the first place.
For specific threads, I mainly use this appearance, who I call "Scruffy Caleb," in my season 4 canon and post-canon verses, and then I also use it for the verses Fidelity, Modern V2, T/LOU, P/eaky B/linders, and R/ed D/ead R/edemption. Like before, Caleb has a scar on his left cheek, and he has a scar on the right side of his abdomen. If I'm writing any sort of AU where the events of season 4 happen but human Caleb manages to survive, he gains a new scar on the left side of his abdomen.

a random note for my mutuals, mainly because I realized I've probably never said this to everyone lol ; unless specifically written out otherwise, almost all of my au crossover verse (aka au if marisa had access/knowledge to other windows) threads with marisa that take place in other worlds are set in either pre book/season 1 timeline or during book/season 1, ie marisa/cherry @daemondaes (at least non hdm verse cherry), marisa/kelly, @cardiomyapathy marisa/eleanor, marisa/angelica @unbeleveable etc. are all examples of being set in either the pre book/season 1 or early book/season 1 portion of the timeline, usually set in the several years between the marisa/asriel affair coming to an end and when she decides to take in lyra, (timeline of marisa's life pre book/season 1 here: x) so roughly an eleven to twelve year window of time if I'm doing math correctly (I'm probably not lol), so marisa in these interactions being anywhere from the ages of 22 to 33, most usually defaulting to having her be 30 as it's 3 years away from all the shit starting to go down lol and plus marisa in her 20s is such a different person from marisa in her 30s, though I will occasionally put her in her 20s, as I think her relationship with kelly started I think when she was like idk 24/25, but like for cherry, eleanor, and angelica, she's 30 in our current threads
some exceptions I can think of off the top of my head are the marisa/farah interactions (being set during book/season 2 while she's 34) and the marisa/aisling @clochanam interactions (being set in an au version of book/season 3 while she's 35)

The Torah, which comprises the first five books of the Hebrew Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy), is considered sacred by Jews, Christians, and Muslims. Its teachings have been interpreted in many ways over the centuries, and some verses have been the subject of debate, particularly regarding their implications for relationships between Jews and non-Jews (Gentiles). It's important to note that interpretations of these verses vary widely among scholars and religious leaders, and some passages that may appear controversial have been understood in different contexts.
Here are a few passages from the Torah that have been interpreted as controversial in relation to Gentiles:
### 1. **Deuteronomy 7:2-3**
- **Text:** "And when the Lord your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy. Do not intermarry with them; do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons."
- **Details:** This verse commands the Israelites to destroy the inhabitants of Canaan and to avoid intermarriage with them. It has been interpreted as a directive to maintain the religious and cultural purity of the Israelite people. However, this passage has also been criticized for its apparent endorsement of violence and exclusion, though many scholars emphasize that it reflects a specific historical context rather than a general principle.
### 2. **Deuteronomy 20:16-18**
- **Text:** "However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you."
- **Details:** This command to annihilate certain Canaanite peoples has been highly controversial. While some interpret it as a call for total war against specific enemies, others view it as a symbolic or hyperbolic expression of the need to avoid adopting the idolatrous practices of these groups. Modern interpretations often stress the importance of understanding the historical and cultural context of these commands.
### 3. **Exodus 23:23-24**
- **Text:** "My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out. Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces."
- **Details:** This passage, like others in the Torah, calls for the destruction of certain peoples and their religious symbols. It has been controversial because it suggests a divine mandate for the destruction of other cultures and religions. However, many scholars argue that the text reflects a specific historical moment when the Israelites were establishing themselves in a land where they were vulnerable to external influences that could lead them away from their covenant with God.
### 4. **Leviticus 25:44-46**
- **Text:** "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly."
- **Details:** This passage has been controversial due to its apparent endorsement of slavery, particularly the enslavement of non-Israelites. The distinction between how Israelites and non-Israelites are to be treated has been the subject of much debate. Some argue that this reflects a historical reality of the time, while others see it as a moral challenge to be understood and addressed in light of broader ethical principles.
### 5. **Deuteronomy 23:3-6**
- **Text:** "No Ammonite or Moabite may enter the assembly of the Lord, even to the tenth generation. None of their descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord, forever, because they did not meet you with bread and water on your way when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to pronounce a curse on you. However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you. Do not seek a treaty of friendship with them as long as you live."
- **Details:** This passage forbids the inclusion of Ammonites and Moabites in the Israelite community due to their historical hostility towards Israel. It has been controversial because of its exclusionary nature and the severity of the punishment, extending to multiple generations. Critics argue that it reflects a harsh stance towards specific groups, though others interpret it as a reflection of the serious consequences of opposing God's chosen people.
### 6. **Deuteronomy 2:34**
- **Text:** "At that time we took all his towns and completely destroyed them—men, women, and children. We left no survivors."
- **Details:** This verse recounts the total destruction of towns during the Israelites' conquest of the Promised Land. It has been criticized for its apparent endorsement of violence against entire populations, including women and children. Some interpreters suggest that these accounts should be understood within the context of ancient Near Eastern warfare practices, where such language might have been hyperbolic or symbolic.
### 7. **Numbers 31:17-18**
- **Text:** "Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man."
- **Details:** This passage, which deals with the aftermath of a battle with the Midianites, has been particularly controversial due to its directives to kill certain groups and take others as captives. It has been debated in terms of its implications for morality and the treatment of non-Israelites. Some argue that it reflects the brutal realities of ancient warfare, while others view it as a challenge to reconcile with contemporary ethical standards.
### 8. **Deuteronomy 12:2-3**
- **Text:** "Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains, on the hills and under every spreading tree, where the nations you are dispossessing worship their gods. Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and burn their Asherah poles in the fire; cut down the idols of their gods and wipe out their names from those places."
- **Details:** This command to destroy the religious sites of other peoples has been controversial because it suggests a mandate to eradicate other religions. The directive to obliterate the names and symbols of other gods has been seen by some as intolerant, though others argue that it was necessary to prevent the Israelites from being led astray by pagan practices.
### 9. **Deuteronomy 25:17-19**
- **Text:** "Remember what the Amalekites did to you along the way when you came out of Egypt. When you were weary and worn out, they met you on your journey and attacked all who were lagging behind; they had no fear of God. When the Lord your God gives you rest from all the enemies around you in the land he is giving you to possess as an inheritance, you shall blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven. Do not forget!"
- **Details:** This passage calls for the annihilation of the Amalekites, an ancient enemy of the Israelites. It has been controversial because of the command to "blot out the name" of an entire people. Some interpret this as a call to eternal enmity, while others suggest it reflects a specific historical context that cannot be generalized.
### 10. **Genesis 9:25**
- **Text:** "Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be to his brothers."
- **Details:** This verse is part of the "Curse of Ham" narrative, where Noah curses his grandson Canaan to be a "servant of servants" to his brothers. This passage has been controversial because it has been misused historically to justify the subjugation of certain peoples. However, most scholars argue that the curse was specific to the narrative context and not a general prescription for relations between peoples.
### Conclusion
These passages from the Torah have been the subject of much debate and controversy over the centuries, particularly in their implications for relationships between Jews and non-Jews. It is important to approach these texts with an understanding of their historical and cultural context and to recognize the diversity of interpretations within Jewish tradition. Many of these verses are seen by scholars as reflecting specific historical circumstances rather than universal principles, and they are often reinterpreted in light of contemporary values and ethics.

Personal finance and the importance that it holds
Tumblr media
Education in finance is detailed and within a lot of areas. Many researchers work round the clock in the field of finance. Theories have been forged; estimations have been invalidated. Every year sees thousands of finance graduates. A good percentage of them are well-versed in the field of corporate finance. Their training is corporation specific and this allows them to take financial decisions for themselves too. But when it comes to personal finance, many people struggle on an individual basis. This makes the field of personal finance very vital. In this blog, I will shed light on reasons which deem it essential to take up personal finance as a subject for all. The desperate situation in the USA and how personal finance can help - The gap between the rich and the poor has been widening in the past few years. The middle class in the USA is diminishing because a considerable number of blue-collar jobs now stand to be automated. - Many surveys tell us that 70% of USA residents live from one cheque to the next. This tells us that they spend everything that they earn each month. Come the new month, and they are all broke. Even if their salaries were slightly delayed, many of these people won’t be able to fulfill their financial responsibilities. The only way is to borrow from inter-office loans and the like. This is a dangerous situation, given the fact that we’ve just seen COVID-19 impact the economy. Because of the lack of any real certainty, airlines, hotels, and real estate that is commercial have seen lots of layoffs. - The ever-rising student loan in the USA now stands at $35,000/student. It has doubled in the last decade. Less than a quarter of US citizens have emergency cash on them. Between the ages of 18-25, most people spend about $100 extra more than they earn each month. 20% of USA citizens have a written plan for allocating funds towards expenses. The rest end up with impulsive buying. This impacts their financial status too. - Personal finance should be taught to everyone. The people to learn personal finance will be more likely well off. They will have a passive income later in life. This passive income will most likely be investment-based. People who see struggling parents will most likely replicate their bad habits too. Presently, personal finance is informally learned at home. There is no institute where personal finance is taught. If it was, it would be very beneficial in the long run. - If people do not know about personal finance, the state ends up taking their burden. Many of these people won’t be able to find adequate jobs. They will depend on welfare payments from the state. This further drowns them in deeper taxes. So, there is no way out but to teach them personal finance. The individual stands to gain. So would the state. - If you know good personal finance, you also have a chance of getting a high income. This means fewer shady people getting entangled in drugs and gambling. The divorce rate and domestic violence also go down. If financial education is properly imparted, the spending on law enforcement drastically goes down. Empirical evidence tells us quite clearly. In the longer run, the benefits of teaching people personal finance pay great dividends. - In certain states in the USA, financial education is compulsory. Studies have been conducted in the last decade. There is a visible credit score difference between people with financial education and those with none. The people who underwent this education had better behavior. - Bank deposits in the USA are guaranteed by the Federal Deposits Insurance Committee (FDIC). They concluded that people with adequate financial education had a double chance of having a bank account, a budget for the whole month, as well as something left for when they retire. Personal finance is compulsory. Not only individuals, but governments stand to gain from it. For this sole reason, governments across the world spend large amounts to disseminate personal finance education to their workforce. Read the full article

Wip about/interaction guideline
Mun’s name is Riot, over 25 years old, so only comfortable interacting with adults even in RP that said this is an 18+ blog there might be themes not suitable for minors on it. Party Poison is written as an adult, around his early 20s but he hasn’t been counting the years personally.
Open to interacting with Danger Days themed ocs, and other characters from the story. My Party is headcanon heavy but willing to adapt to suit other stories, multi-verse and multi-ship as threads are contained in their own bubbles. No cross over between pairings so no fighting over who was ‘with party first’ Pixie’s ghoul is main and priority. But please discuss any longer story lines in messages if there’s a specific direction you want things to go.

Which Cullen is a foil to which shifter? Not like friends or anything, but who compares/parallels well to who? For example, Leah and Rose are often compared but are they really that well suited as a comparison?
I do think Rosalie and Leah have a lot of similarities in how they have similar functions in their groups: both are blunt, labelled as difficult, and have been marked by hardship in their lives that have led to disappointment and bitterness. They also both don't like Bella lol.
Other possible foils:
Carlisle and Sam: both the oldest, both the first (they both had to figure this all out kind of on their own), both the leaders. Something I liked in the movie!verse was the contrast between Sam's deep, sort of booming voice and Carlisle's more soft-spoken tenor. There's also something interesting in that Sam's like, what, 19 or 20 but looks 25, so technically he looks older than Carlisle at 23-going-on-370.
Quil and Emmett: Both sort of more light-hearted figures. Emmett jokes and Quil flirts, and they both are the least angsty about their supernatural circumstances. Quil was thrilled to finally become a wolf and re-join his friends; Emmett took becoming a vampire in stride.
Paul and Emmett: This one was set up specifically in the movie, with them both being sort of the competitive, hot-headed types who have a run-in but then later work together in the battle with the newborns.
Jacob and Edward: I know your question was specifically about comparison foils, but to me this is the most obvious foil for contrast. shapeshifter vs. vampire, sunny and extroverted vs. reserved, poor vs. rich, warm vs. cold etc. They do have similarities, however, in their dim view of immortality and a close relationship with a father/father-figure.
Not a shifter but I think Emily and Esme fulfill similar roles as like the 'mom' of the group (or at least the mom friend in Emily's case), the one who looks after and tries to discipline the rowdy group. It's different, of course, is that Esme is on more equal footing with her 'family,' while Emily is not a shifter.
I don't think there's really a Jasper or Alice parallel. They're outsiders who joined an existing group and the shifters don't really have anyone with that dynamic. I guess maaaaybe Jasper and Paul in the sense of like "he's the dangerous one, you should avoid him" but for different reasons. The pack really doesn't have an Alice.
I gueeeesss you could make a parallel or comparison with Renesmee and Seth and/or Brady/Colin in that they are the youngest and the rest of the group wants to protect them but that's a stretch iMO. There's also Claire, but she's an actual human child not a super advanced being like Nessie so I don't think it actually makes sense for them to play together or be friends. Totally different vibes.

On Saint-Just’s Personality: An Introduction
Saint-Just’s personality is deeply misunderstood.
Saint-Just was a very secretive person, and guarded his personality behind walls. It might come off as surprising, considering how he’s usually depicted, but he actually was very introverted and reserved at the Convention, at the Committee of Public Safety, and during his missions in Alsace and in the North.
He was also a very sensitive person. He didn’t take slights easily (neither did Robespierre). But unlike Robespierre, he was also extremely young and wanted to be taken seriously. He was building off from nothing. So he built his own “myth”: the man (re)born with the Revolution. He made his youth his advantage: he hadn’t been as corrupted as the others by the old ways. This is something that was used by other revolutionaries, for example Marc-Antoine Jullien, who was 19 years old in 1794. They would say their youth made them closer to “nature” – that is, the natural, uncorrupted state of humanity as defined by Enlightenment philosophy.
The Saint-Just people think they know via novels and movies doesn’t really exist. I can’t think of any fictional representation that accurately portrays him. How people think of Saint-Just is basically several different “fanon” interpretations, some built by his enemies, some built by people who did appreciate him but didn’t quite understand him – which didn’t help much in the end.
This is important to point out because in the end these are the sources we have to learn who Saint-Just was as a person:
What those who knew him wrote about him (sometimes writing many decades later, which naturally impacts memory)
The little insight we can gleam from the few personal notes he left here and there in notebooks (and an unsent letter) that were never meant to be read by anyone
I know this seems obvious, but people often forget that historical figures are not fictional characters. They were real, living, breathing, human beings. They were people, and people have flaws and contradictions. People don’t necessarily remain the same at 20 years old, at 25, at 30 and so forth. People change.
The Saint-Just who writes Organt before the Revolution isn’t the Saint-Just who writes L’Esprit de la Révolution et de la Constitution de France in 1790 and isn’t the Saint-Just who gets elected deputy to the Convention in 1792. The Saint-Just who writes an unsent letter to Villain d’Aubigny (usually dated of July 20 1792, though it’s a topic of debate) is a Saint-Just no one was supposed to see. Same with most of his personal notes they built the Fragments des Institutions républicaines with.
Most importantly of all, a person will appear different to different people in different contexts. It’s a matter of perspective.
If you only take Desmoulins’ and Hilary Mantel’s and Tanith Lee’s perspectives on Saint-Just, well, I’m sorry to say, that’s not Saint-Just. That’s a perspective of Saint-Just.
Moreover, Saint-Just has many faces, many images, many legends, some of which he created himself while he was alive.
Victor Hugo was influenced by the Romantic Historians of the French Revolution, Michelet and Lamartine specifically, and their descriptions of Saint-Just to create Enjolras.
This is how you can find this connection making it even through novels that don’t like Saint-Just very much:
“He has a mind of fire and a heart of ice.”
- Bertrand Barère on Louis-Antoine Saint-Just
“It is a thing unheard of that a man should be as cold as ice and as bold as fire.”
- Bossuet on Enjolras, in Victor Hugo, Les Misérables
“...Camille felt an instant aversion, as to the touch of ice, which is what the young man most resembled. Chiseled from an ice floe.”
- Camille on Saint-Just, in Tanith Lee, The Gods Are Thirsty
Thus, even traces of this Saint-Just lives on in Tanith Lee's book.
Main testimonies
Most of them are here, in French, and some have been translated. If not, I will work on it. I will repost them on this tumblr as well, along with additional information about their author, their reliability, their personal biases, etc.
Sources by Saint-Just’s hand
While some revolutionaries have enough correspondence to fill entire volumes, Saint-Just comparatively left few letters behind. We do have one letter that gives incredible insight into his state of mind, but it’s important to remember this letter was never meant to be read by anyone. It was an unsent letter, found in his things after Thermidor, and then made public against his wishes, much like most of his personal notes. It is, however, an amazing letter nevertheless, but it’s important to keep this context in mind: he did not want you to see him like this.
Secondly, we have a lot of decrees he wrote during his missions. Though most don’t say very much, they do give clues on his personality, on his attitude, on his perspective. In some cases, he would write a quick postscript to a letter written by Le Bas and addressed to Maximilien Robespierre. Interestingly, while Le Bas would use the “vous” with Robespierre, and admitted to his wife Élisabeth he felt closer to Augustin than to Maximilien, Saint-Just always uses the “tu”. This isn’t just a matter of revolutionary zeal – the whole “vous vs tu” question during the Revolution is another, much more complicated story.
Finally, we have personal notes scattered through the manuscript that became known as the Fragments des Institutions républicaines. It’s a strange document to study and refer to. There is, indeed, a project he was working on concerning the Republican Institutions. There are at least two drafts. But the document has other things has well: from notes he later used in speeches (you can pinpoint the similarities) to a very short fictional romance between a man and a woman that’s hard to interpret.
The document known as the Fragments des Institutions républicaines was made from random papers found on him when he was arrested, taken from his apartment, and in a notebook that Barère kept. Pages are missing. Some pages are obviously torn. This is the one place where he confided some of his deepest thoughts, which reveal a great deal of insight on the Revolution and on his role, as well as his mental state. It was written in the last months of his life, when he could feel what was coming.
Saint-Just wrote fiction: yes, there’s the much maligned, very misunderstood Organt. In the same period, which is shortly before the Revolution, he also wrote a play called Arlequin Diogène, a short story called La Raison à la Morne, and a very short epigram of 8 verses, Épigramme sur le comédien Dubois qui a joué dans Pierre le Cruel.
Most of these must be treated as any work of fiction regarding their author: separating fiction from the author is complicated. Is he referencing his own life? Is he even aware that he is? The context of their redaction, however, gives a lot of information and some insight on himself. One of these texts is extremely interesting in order to study his personality. It’s a sort of foreword to Organt titled Dialogue entre M... D... et l’auteur du poëme d’Organt. The format almost resembles that of an interview. This is important as this is Saint-Just the Author, as he wants to be seen. The style is trenchant, concise, straight-to-the-point. Here Saint-Just the Author of 1789 meets Saint-Just the Representative of Year II.
(This post in an introduction to a series of several posts in the process of being written. Please be patient. If you want to know more, feel free to send me questions though! I’ll try to answer as well as I can.)

What Jesus Said About Hell
There’s a trend among professing Christians to sidestep the issue of hell (eternal punishment) despite clear biblical teaching.
There's also a spurious teaching about Scripture referring to a garbage dump in Jerusalem, not to hell. This teaching is not supported historically, logically, or biblically. (Resource)
If you've heard the false teachings about hell being a "garbage dump" or simply a way of describing earthly punishments, please read Hell is Not a Garbage Dump.
Below you’ll find what Scripture teaches.
Specifically from Jesus:
Matthew 5:22:  But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
Matthew 5:29: If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
Matthew 7:13: Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
Matthew 10:28: Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 13:36-43: – This link will take you to the Parable of the Weeds
Matthew 16:26-27: What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.
Matthew 23:33-34: You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? 34 Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.
Matthew 25 - This link will take you to three parables in which Jesus highlights eternal rewards and punishments, containing these verses:
✔ "Cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 25:30
✔ "Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." Matthew 25:41
✔ "These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." Matthew 25:46
Luke 12:4-5: I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.
Luke 16:19-31: There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
25 But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
27 He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
29 Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
31 He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’
A few more from Revelation:
Revelation 14:11: And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.
Revelation 20:15: Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Revelation 21:8: The cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.
Revelation 20:14-15: Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
 From the Epistles:
2 Thessalonians 1:6-10: God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you 7 and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. 8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might 10 on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.
Jude 1:7: In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
2 Peter 2:4-9: For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment; 5 if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; 6 if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; 7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless 8 (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)— 9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.
Denying the concept of Hell is denying an essential element of the Gospel. God spoke of it clearly, and He expects us to speak of it clearly.

This is a comprehensive and detailed timeline of the relationships between the muses on my blogs (the adults, not Eloise's future daughters). This is the main default canon of my blog. Some things will change depending on plots and verses, specifically when it pertains to how Landon Wynter ( @wynterlanding ) is involved. The timeline goes by Eloise's age since she is the main focus muse.
Junior-senior year of high school - Nathan transfers to the same high school in Detroit. He endures some teasing and light bullying from other students before Eloise steps in and takes him under her wing with Landon. The three of them become fast friends.
After graduation - Eloise takes a few years off to help her mom as well as save for college. Nathan joins the military as soon as he turns 18. He keeps in touch with Eloise and Landon
College - Early 20s, Eloise attends college with Landon for a degree in journalism. There she meets Jack who is between majors trying to find where he fits in himself, while also trying to get a date with Eloise. She declines every time, but they become good friends anyway.
Around 25, Eloise meets an older man who offers her an opportunity to work for a news network where he was the broadcast manager. Stephen Dixon made her a lot of promises, most of which included a relationship and a chance for her to move in with him. They started dating not too long after they met
College graduation - with a degree under her belt, Eloise finally takes Stephen up on his offer. She moves in with him and they start working together.
Around 26 - Nathan returns from his time in the military to pursue a degree in business. He meets Jack after reconnecting with Eloise and Landon, both in the business classes together. They become good friends as well, and graduate together with their business degrees.
Around 28 - Eloise breaks up with Stephen and flees from his home, staying with Jack since his home had the most space. She calls on him, as well as Nathan and Landon to get the rest of her things from Stephens house. That's the last she sees or speaks of him.
Within a couple years, Nathan opens his bar and Jack becomes a partner of his father's company. While Eloise and Landon further their own journalism careers.
Around 30 - Eloise finds Cody in the street. With the help of her friends, she tries to figure out where he came from and if someone was missing a child. Jack couldn’t find any records and Nathan kept an ear out with the people who came into his bar. Nothing really came back conclusive, so Eloise just settled on figuring it out later while she cared for the boy.
Trying to adopt him officially is a challenge, but once she’s able to do that she could actually enroll him in school.
Present day - Jack and Nathan live their own lives, but are more than happy to help whenever Eloise needs someone to keep an eye on Cody, while also keeping an ear to the ground for any information about him.
