do you have any info on magic staffs or just compilation pics of the staffs?

Her explosion spell scatters instead of hitting a single point when she casts it without Ambrosia

She does manage to use a twig when she loses Ambrosia in the Barometz chapter, and Thistle uses a flute or other music instruments (and a wooden mallet) to cast magic every now and then so I think the quality of the Staff has more to do with how much they can take and the quality of the aim rather than the power of the magic? The twig probably cant quite aim the explosion attack and even the stun seems to have came out not quite aimed properly thru the twig

Other things that seem to be used to cast magic are magic circles/runes, magic tattoos and Grimoires (by Thistle especially) so maybe which one to use depends on the magic youre casting? Wish there was something more explicitly said about those.

Ooh your writing has a grip on me. In the new chapter of ghoap x nanny reader, I noticed the blanket went from partially covering her to fully covering her from the time Johnny first opened the camera to when Simon got him off. It’s a small detail, but it’s one intentionally included, and I was wondering what the intent behind the detail is? Is she uncomfortable (which is understandable in that situation even if she is attracted to the guys too), or does she think she has to cover up because the guys think she is inappropriate?

Would love to hear your thoughts, but completely understand if you don’t to answer this. No matter what, I am grateful to read everything you give us!

it’s a mixture of both tbh! or whatever you want it to mean, depending on how dark you wanna go.

in my head, she isn’t used to having her mere existence sexualised, so it’s cause for unease when she realises that it could be perceived that way. like she’s just chilling in her pjs trying to enjoy her book, not trying to tempt or tease, yet there are men halfway across the world tugging their dicks to the sight and it puts her in an incredibly awkward situation. ‘will they think i’m intentionally being inappropriate? do i have to apologise for something?’ sort of thing. it’s kinda of grim when you think about it though, which is why i say you can choose to believe what you want! maybe she just covered herself in an instinctual reaction, or to hide the way her thighs press against each other lol. to each their own :)

he's a severely depressed 60-something year old man in poor physical health with a substance problem. he can't get out of bed most days and has stopped taking care of himself. as you can imagine, this scenario is thistle's worst nightmare and everything he tries to do to "fix it" doesn't work - mainly because he is the cause of half of delgal's suffering :/ oh, thistle!

Dear Dr Meshi, do you know if Marcille's staff was specially made for ancient/blood magic? Like the way it comes alive during the big spells? How it can store mana (I don't think other staffs can do that)? I also think she, compared to Falin's iron rod, traded most of it's use as a weapon to double down on spellcasting.

She did make it herself and she says it could "die" when it gets broken if she doesn't fix it soon, so yeah it's probably not like most staves that are bought.

That's probably why it can slightly change shape and absorb mana.

Staff of the Cauldron Carrier by Griffon's Saddlebag

Spalted Elder Wood Scepter (SOLD)

This unique scepter was crafted from a storm-blown bough of Elder, and it measures approximately 31 inches/ 79 centimeters long

The wood used came from an Elder Tree found growing in the crook of a forested Crossroads, which was ritually propitiated in the name of the Elder Mother. After collecting, de-barking, drying, and cutting down the piece, I carefully accentuated the natural 'bone-like' shape of the top with a blade and sandpaper, before sanding and polishing the whole surface until it was suitably smooth. After that, I slowly allowed the wood and inner pith of the stave to "soak up" a ritually crafted varnish made from an array of potent arboreal resins—such as Dragon's Blood, Storax, and Amber—which was then slowly dried by the hearth to strengthen the overall integrity of the piece. Once that process was done, I applied one last coat of the same varnish as before, which I polished with a homemade oil of sorcerous empowerment to give it a glossy sheen and to underscore the natural beauty of the wood spalting, before fumigating the finished scepter with a mixture of Elderflowers and Honey Amber in a simple rite of hallowing.

Hello! I'm really excited to show a couple of previews of some of the (several!) items I got to draw for Out of the Maw, a dnd 5e homebrew supplement that adds eldritch flavoured content! These two staves were quite fun, and amongst my favourite magic item illustrations up to date.

Y'all know I'm huge on third party DnD content (which is one of the reasons I spoke very vocally about the new OGL's dangers), so getting to be part of such project was super exciting. I think starting MTG during INN-RtR block fucked my expectation of magic up for a very long time lmao. Shock lands and check lands made 3c+ decks trivially easy while losing 0 tempo. U/x control decks have never felt as powerful to me in standard, that format had so many hard counters, Sphinx's revelation, Supreme Verdict. You had fucking Snapcaster Mage, Restoration Angel. Some of the harder draw go control variants literally only played 3-4 Augur of Bolas, and some number of the other 2 as your entire creature suite. You were casting like only a few walkers, Detention Sphere, Augur, and Verdict at sorcery speed. You were just draw going so often and that is so definitive as to the control i like to play. You even had the UWR flash variant focusing more on Snapcaster/Resto and packing the red splash for good burn to make for a PROPER tempo deck. UW control in RtR-THS was still pretty good with access to a lot of the same cards, losing Snap + Resto sucked but it went the play a single Aetherling and protect it for the rest of the game win con and i also LOVE that. Just answers and a single ridiculously powerful threat. A lot of this, but i think especially the mana base, is what led me to veer off into eternal formats after and really not give a shit about standard. Watching old Pro Tours that i havent watched in a decade hit different man. Nothing beats Stanislav Cifka playing Modern Eggs and winning PT RtR though. I wish to fucking GOD i got to play that deck in the time frame it was legal. It might be my favorite non deterministic combo deck of all time.

idk if this is medical anomaly technically but i have HS (hidradenitis suppurvativa) and one of the many symptoms is tunnels under my skin. ive fit qtips in them before (dont do this if you have HS fyi it fucking hurts) and im only stage 2. my dermatologist says shes seen tunnels big enough to put a finger in! yuck!

ach....sinus tracts. painful. but interesting nonetheless. as far as im aware hidradenitis suppurativa is chronic but i hope youre able to get treatments and that they help!
