The bucket beside Adam's bed was his best friend when he cracked his eyes open, feeling all that playful divinity from the night before it reeled its radiant head while Adam cradled the porcelain framing his face. Eventually, Adam peeled himself up off that bathroom floor, took a beat to gather some intentions for the day, jogged the night off, and then devoured strawberry waffles opposite Stephanos. This was what, day one following night one?

Could've been worse.

There were sensations that Adam was trying to liken it to - this feeling of his Heartsong blooming within. When he opened himself to a sky full of divinity and felt the rush that came with power. Charges bristled under his skin as lightning sparked over his skin - arcing between his arms as Adam grinned, looking ahead at some of the practice dummies. Automated, swinging weaponry, and whirring about at double speed.

"I had fun last night," Adam commented, not quite addressing the elephant in the room and certain that he had no interest in poking at that particular wound. Instead, Adam sat back, smiled at the waitress as she placed a coffee and a water in front of him, then nodded as she promised to be back in a bit with their order. "I'm guessing you haven't done a lot of skinny dipping before?" He was still trying to get a read on Stephanos, there were obvious elements of dark romanticism but Adam was uninhibited and untethered - but interested, clearly.

"So I've noticed." Samson pointed out, naturally leaning on Stephanos whenever was convenient for the other.

“I don't think anyone has ever said that to me,” he said simply, trying to recall a time when anyone had made that statement to him. He'd heard big heart often enough, it was generally on the cusp of rejection. “The heart’s a four-chambered organ. It doesn’t hold anything except blood, and it doesn’t produce light. It contracts when electrical impulses travel through the sinoatrial node, which sets the pace - like a natural metronome for our bodies." A beat, there was all the mythos surrounding the heart as well, but tangible facts were more comforting to him... Giving in to the esoteric was still a curve that Samson was adapting to. "Uh - sorry, you were saying?"

"studious, that one." if there's any pride in the tone, stephanos didn't have much a claim to it, making it more feeling than rational. "must run in the blood."

having set a ritual down to perpetually ignite the target, while also preventing it from burning down too far, was as good a form of practice as what he'd been offering to the others.

"the 'heart' part appears literal." watching those strands of light coalesce, he wasn't pushing it through a limb or channeling it from a source, as much as coaxing it from a more cardiac cage. "when someone tells you, 'your heart is full of light', how does that make you feel?"

In The Tempest, Stephano, Prospero's drunken butler, gives Caliban some wine. Caliban, who doesn't know many humans besides Prospero, who enslaved him, thinks that Stephano is a God for that and worships him. Then he plans to kill Prospero along with Stephano and Trinculo (Prospero's jester) creating this trio of idiot villains

Shakespearean lore is beautiful when paired with its counterparts in The Sims 2.

What were the earliest the Baudelaires could've died, once ASOUE began?

Part 1: Violet Baudelaire

This is a question I've been pondering after rewatching "The Grim Grotto: Part 2", seeing Sunny nearly die due to infection with the Medusoid Mycelium.

I've decided to take each Baudelaire in turn: starting with Violet. Basically asking the question, "Just how lucky we're the Baudelaire orphans?"

From the near-miss craniectomy of THH to being burnt at the stake in TVV, there are 2 instances (that come to mind) of her possibly dying once the series started:

1. Violet could've died, having been assaulted by her abnormal cousin, Count Olaf. (TBB)

or

2. Olaf, posing as Stephano, could've knifed her either when chasing them around Monty's house or, by book canon, when he eerily rubbed the same knife along her knee during their dinner with Monty. (TRR)

So I've had working theory(s) for YEARS as to why Rei treated Usagi the way she did. I've never got to really share them openly, so thank you for bringing this up :D

For Rei, I do think there's some resentment of Usagi's personality and behaviors present-day compared to her memories of Princess Serenity pre-reincarnation. "Like, how is this crybaby a princess I serve, etc."

The other is Rei "trying" to prepare Usagi to become what they believe the Neo Queen of the Moon should be. Her methodology gives tough love, emphasis on tough, out of care (?) of Usagi, past, present, and future.

This last one is not a legit theory, but more for me. In relation to theory 2, I believe Rei deeply loves Usagi and is willing to be the one to really go to the extreme to make sure Usagi is safe. She is also one of the only two people that truly loves Usagi mind body and spirit, with the other being Haruka. Like all the Senshi loves Usagi and would do anything for her as friends and princess, but Rei and Haruka, there is something a bit deeper that's different compared to the others TO ME.

So when it comes to 90s anime Rei specifically, we do have to keep in mind Toei, a bunch of male writers at the time, were the ones kinda making up personalities for these characters w/o really consulting with Naoko. The anime was also coming out relatively the same time the manga chapters came out

@stephanos-spaceopera clarified for example, that episode 1 of the anime came out about a month after Act 1 of the manga. So Toei was kinda in the dark. But at the same time they just left Naoko in the dark(Naoko talks about the lack of communication a lot)

In the manga Rei is more so depicted as a mysterious and regal girl, who has resentment towards men(probably towards her political father). Lots to go off by but Toei just reduced all of that too "women amrite? They can never be just friends with other women"

Which sucks cuz in the manga(been reading the manga) the bit with all the girls is that they are rumored or suspected to be villains, monsters, stuck up snobs, or bullies, but when Usagi actually gets to know them and they become part of the sailor senshi, they are all very kind. The rumors actually isolates them and hurts their feelings too. So to have Rei fit the bully rumors in the anime sucks cuz she felt bad about it

I just cannot see tough love as constantly calling a person stupid, making fun of their weight, assualting them(slapstick or not she just constantly hits or pushes her to the ground), mocking how she will be alone and not find love, and downplaying every little achievement they get happy about and just beating them down constantly. And Rei has done all of that within 3 episodes of her debut. And you just get about 40 episodes of this until Rei and the others sit back from screen time and someone else is bullying Usagi. The show bullies her so much it's kinda annoying

I like when characters bicker to show they care for one another, but only when it's clear the characters are treated as equals and they bat shit crazy like that(looks at ryoma and hayato)

Rei and Usagi in the 90s anime, do not have that relationship. Usagi gets depressed, she gets hurt, and she cries because what Rei does is bully her. It doesn't help Usagi. The times when Usagi actually pulls through, is when she gets love and support, not instigation and yelling. It's actually a major theme of the series and the manga

Rei is hardly the only character that treats Usagi like shit. Almost everyone does this, and its just....OK Toei we get it

Her father chewed, swallowed, and wiped his mouth, “Indeed, she was a real pain about it to. Said if you were a boy we needed to name you Stephano and if you were a girl we had to name you Maria.”

Causally— like her world hadn’t been shattered, like her facade of masculinity didn’t finally crack.

Maria. She could have been Maria.

Maria. She wants to be Maria.

“You're lucky we didn’t listen! Steve’s a strong name for a man.” he supplied.

It came with nausea and the feeling of her skin itching like she doesn’t fit inside of it.

The rest of dinner was silent but her- Maria’s mind was buzzing. It stayed that way till the next morning and through the drive to indy. Till she was in the club and talking with James.

In the place where she feels safe enough to say it for the first time. “Maria Harrington” and wasn’t that wild.

WORLD HISTORY A: CHAPTER 7, PG 126: THE ROMAN EMPIRE- 211 CE.

Following their father’s death, the twins were appointed co-emperors of Rome- although, not without its fair share of rivalry. In fact, their reign was short-lived, ending when, following an intense accumulation of anger, Caracalla executed the assassination of his brother Geta. Following Geta’s death, Caracalla initiated ‘damnatio memoriae’, a process in which all artifacts or otherwise including or mentioning Geta were to be destroyed, effectively attempting to wipe his name from history completely.

Although this process was, at first, proven effective, many coins today depicting the lost emperor have been uncovered, acting as our only look into what Emperor Geta may have looked like. In addition to this, texts discovered to be hidden within the ruins of the empire also mention stories of Geta’s rule, one such story having been the subject of debate since its recovery- The story of Stephanos: The Emperor’s Savior.

The tale, which was often regarded as myth, depicts Emperor Geta as a prophetic vessel for the Gods. Geta, upon recieving a vision from the Gods of his assassination, was gifted a savior. Called upon to catch a stray arrow from piercing between the eyes of the emperor was a mysterious Gladiator, sent to protect Geta from harm. The man from this prophecy, a mysterious foreigner by the name of Stephanos, was spared by Geta following his participation in the gladiatorial games, and only a day later, was killed when a stray arrow meant to strike the emperor instead struck him through his rib, slicing through his heart.

Although many of the smaller details had been unknown following Geta’s historical erasure, the discovery of an ornate box within the empire’s rubble, which has been confirmed to have belonged to the erased emperor, has offered more validity to the claims vouching for Stephanos’ existance. Within the box lay the remains of a splintered arrow, and an ornate golden ring with a small ‘S’ carved within its band. This discovery kickstarted the exporation of Emperor Geta’s, the tales that escaped damnation, and the things he held closest to him despite his brother’s tyrannical order.

Steve sputters out a gasp- he feels his throat rattle as he jolts up, side aching, heart stuttering like a cold car engine starting up for the very first time. He tries to cling to something- anything that he can find to remind him- or even inform him- where he could possibly be. Who he could possibly be.

He hopes he’s back home. He hopes that he’s Steve. He begs for a sign, a helping hand, Dustin’s face above him, the stupid, tacky radio that plays the same few songs at Family Video.

Instead, when his vision returns, he’s met with the flickering flames of a small fireplace. He’s seated, he sees, at a small table, a large tankard now spilled before him rolls back and forth slightly with each shift of the table. His head is pounding. His hands are trembling. A voice booms from somewhere he can’t place.

“Drunk himself silly, he did!” It slurs, a few laughs following along. The voice is drenched in a thick, british accent. His vision adjusts, and he turns to a large window behind him, peeking outside to search for something recognizable.

Horses and carriages. A grey, snowy day. Complex dresses and old suits galore- cobblestone, billowing chimneys, tall hats, pocketwatches.

“Fuck. Fuck, where am I?”

His waist coat has the ombre of black, blue, purple & pink and with his magic it looks like an actual moving galaxy (think Stolas' cloak from Helluva Boss where they go to Ozzie's)

Instead of his ringleader like jacket and top hat, Lucifer has a white cloak that has the moving galaxy to match his waistcoat on the underside of it and a golden snake (like the one from his hat) wrapped around his head like a Stephanos Crown

Black gloves and his usual cane. Only instead of an apple topper it had a small, floating solar flare that changed color depending on his emotional state
