Mortal Projections - A Steddie Fanfic

Rating: M

Summary: Steve and Eddie’s friendship developed into something more after defeating Vecna with the rest of the Party the prior summer. Steve had reached a point where he wanted to address the fast-growing feelings for Eddie that he had. Eddie, unable to accept that Steve’s feelings were pure, pushed him away in an attempt to protect himself ultimately resulting in Steve leaving Hawkins to stay with one of his aunt and uncle in California with the intention of not returning until he received a phone call from Robin notifying him of her mom falling ill. Steve finds himself back in Hawkins, struggling to cope with all the returning memories of the trauma he endured and had been avoiding since he left in addition to coming to terms with the fact that his feelings he had for Eddie were not in fact bullshit like it had been suggested. If they were, he wouldn’t feel like leaving again would be the hardest battle he’d ever endure to date.

(Or Eddie feels like he isn't good enough for Steve and breaks things off causing Steve to leave Hawkins. Steve comes back and they're both still hopelessly in-love with each other but are afraid to admit it.)

anyone can make a twitter account, buy premium and get the blue check mark to look “verified”. these “official sources” are meaningless. i could make an account write now if i wanted to stir the pot and get attention. stranger things is one of the biggest shows in the world and byler became even more popular over the past few years, especially after season 4, and i’ve seen MANY people try to use them to get attention and go viral. they know what people are like and what they’re gonna engage with

everyone paying attention to these leaks, replying to the account, sharing screenshots with their username, etc. are literally giving them the attention they crave because they know people are gonna search their username and want to stay updated with their tweets. you’d also think that if they were leaking stuff that was true, the writers or any crew member would immediately be on that and have the account removed

also this specific account posts things that they get from their DMs… literally anyone can DM any “information” they have (or make up…) and they’ll post it anonymously with nothing else to back them up, because they know the moment people read a few character names, they’ll start losing their minds

The most alive he’s ever felt is back in the bar, dancing with Eddie when his attempts to wingman for Steve fall flat. It’s not that Eddie’s a bad wingman, Steve just doesn’t find someone that catches his eye— not the way Eddie does. He tries his best not to think too hard about that. When they reach the van, he settles into the passenger seat and he closes his eyes. He can still see Eddie moving to the beat of a song he most definitely does not recognize, their chests pressing together on a crowded dance floor and Eddie’s fingers gripping his hips tight. Strobe lights bathe them both in shades of pinks and purples and blues and all it would take is one small adjustment, one tiny step forward… or, 5 Times Steve Harrington Makes No Plans + One Time He Does.
