It's kind of funny that Kendall and Shiv are both equally delusional about their ability to charm people for business and somehow think they can do it even though they choke almost every single time, whereas it's like the one thing Roman is consistently good at despite being the "least legitimate" option.
I think part of this comes down to the fact that Shiv and Kendall both have very clear ideas of the versions of themselves they're trying to be and the images they're trying to project, and they're trying so hard to be seen that way that they end up coming off as a little desperate and off-putting. Meanwhile Roman "knows" that there's something wrong with him and he's worthless, so he doesn't get sucked into the trap of trying to force people to see his idea of himself and instead molds himself into whatever he thinks the other person wants from him because that's the only way he can compensate for "being him," which works very well in the short term but also means he's the least capable of maintaining any relationship for very long because he has no sense of self.

DP x DC prompt:
Daniel was seething. It's been a year since he left the league and they've already found him. Well, it was his mother who found him. Not that that was any better but at least it wasn't Grandfather.
It also shouldn't have taken him so long to dispose of those soldiers. They weren't even that capable. Far below his level and yet he struggled. He needed to resume his training soon or else he would become rusty.
He cursed himself for getting too comfortable with civilian life. Not that his life was comfortable, far from actually.
He had been adopted by a pair of mad scientist with no concept of lab safety; and for all the intelligence they had, they couldn't fathom how to properly take care of a child, leaving their daughter to take care of herself and now her newly adopted sibling!
He sighed. He was starting to get angry. He couldn't afford to get angry. Especially not at Jazz. She was only two years older than him and was doing her best. She's also the only good thing in his life right now meaning that he had to cherish her, not break her. (He wouldn't be like his brother)
His mind stayed on Jazz for a while before immediately increasing his speed. He really needed to resume his training. How could he be so slack to forget such a possibility! Daniel desperately hoped that his sister Jazz was okay and that they wouldn't dare.
Entering through his bedroom window he rushed straight to Jazz's bedroom. It was open. She wasn't there.
Daniel started to panic when he heard a muffed scream coming from downstairs. Adrenaline coursed through his veins as he rushed down the stairs and into the kitchen.
In all honesty Daniel expected the worse. To see his sister Jazz dead on the floor, thick red gushing from her neck, the scent of blood in the air. And there was blood, it just wasn't her's.
Daniel always prided himself on having a vivid imagination. It was a great way to escape after an especially hard training session with his brother. But he would have never imagined this.
In the small, laughably suburban kitchen of the Fenton household was a sight to behold. In the air were two mangled bodies, unidentifiable if not for the league's emblem still visible on one of them. And on the wall was a splatter, a rather big one. It wasn't blood. It was too dark to be. But whatever it was was very unlucky.
In the center of the kitchen was Jazz. Her arms were outstretched, burning sigils rotating at the end of each palm. Her eyes glowed a bright icy blue.
Upon noticing him everything stopped. She looked fearful. Tears threatening to come forth.
"Wait I can explain, just don't tell mom or dad! Please!"
Daniel, still a bit shocked but not as much, simply walked into the kitchen towards the cupboard. Taking out a clean towel he unsheathed he sword and began to clean it.
He looked over his shoulder towards Jazz. She didn't look as scared but her eyes still held some fear. So he spoke, making sure the still bloody sword was in veiw.
"I won't tell if you don't." He flashed a grin his tiny fangs peaking out.
Jazz sighed as in the weight of the world was lifted off of her. She looked at him and smiled.
"Mom and Dad aren't going to be back for a while. Wanna help me clean up?"

summary: rafe's realizing how much better he is now, ever since he met you
word count: 1.6k
now spinning: love song by lana del rey
author's note: can't think about anything else but rafe being happy n content.... eeeee <3
part of this little universe
Tumblr media
Rafe’s beginning to think you’re really good for him.
It starts off pretty small—little things, here and there. The way he doesn’t go to bed completely angry and pent up anymore—that’s because you text him good night, every night, without fail. Even when he doesn’t say it first, even when he’s not on his phone and told you he’d be busy taking care of stuff with his dad all day.
After your first date, when you were sitting in the passenger seat of his truck—licking on an ice cream cone he’d bought you after dinner because the two of you were have a difficult time trying to find a reason to end the night—he opens up his phone to add your number to his contacts, and you hover over his shoulder, choosing little emojis to have next to your name and being very picky about it.
When you finally decide on the perfect combination, he turns to look at your face, which is way too close to his. He decides then and there that you wanted to be kissed, because you’d never get so close if you didn’t. The truth was that you just couldn’t tear your eyes away from how the little blue heart and butterfly and flowers looked next to your name in his phone, but he doesn’t need to know that, not if he’s going to kiss you like that every time.
And now whenever he picks up his phone and sees those little blue shapes, he feels better, instantaneously.
So much so that he doesn’t yell at Wheezie and Sarah so much anymore. That’s another small thing— Rafe can’t even recall what he used to get so annoyed about, so angry that he’d pick fights over it. Sarah’s never home anyways, but when she is, you’re making conversation with her, smiling up at Rafe trying to involve him in the discussion about whatever the hell you guys talk about.
Wheezie’s always home, and he actually realizes how funny she is, especially with you. He sits on the couch with his laptop, looking at things that you don’t understand and don’t really care about, while Sleepless in Seattle plays on the television.
You and Wheezie sit next to each other, half-eaten popcorn and candy scattered between you two, a box of tissues within reach because you told her they were absolutely necessary, even though she didn’t believe you.
Rafe only looks up when hears the unmistakable sound of you sniffling and crying—panicking briefly, trying to make sure he handles this correctly, properly, so he doesn’t scare you away—when he realizes it’s just the movie.
He lets out a sigh of relief, of which you take note. You turn to hand Wheezie a tissue and then look back at Rafe, worried he’s going to be annoyed that you’re crying over this movie.
It’s silly, because he’s been nothing but nice to you, sweet as sugar all the time, but you remember what your friends used to tell you, the back-and-forth with Sarah, Wheezie’s comments about how much nicer Rafe’s been recently. How he’s been nicer since he met you. You look at him for a little, seconds passing by as your heart thuds in your chest.
“I can’t believe this-” you hear Wheezie sob in the background, reaching for another handful of popcorn. “They just left!”
You almost turn away from Rafe just then, not wanting to see his reaction, when he closes his laptop and slides his body over to sit closer to you, one hand around your shoulder pulling you close and the other reaching to grab a clean tissue, holding it in his hand for you, for when you need it. You smile against his chest, clasping your hand around his.
“You really cry over this crap, kid?” You whine, a muffled noise of protest spoken against his shirt, half-hearted. “We all knew they were gonna end up together.”
“Yeah, I guess we did,” you murmur, not paying attention to the movie anymore, eyes hyper-focused on the shiny metal of Rafe’s ring on his fingers.
“Shut up, Rafe, I’m watching this-”
“You shut up, Wheeze, and pass the chocolate.”
It’s become a regular occurrence, actually, having you around at Tannyhill. You go through plenty of movies with Wheezie, occupying her time while getting to be with Rafe. You join them for their periodic family dinners, dolled up in your nicest clothes even though Rafe tells you it doesn’t matter. He wants you down there in his hoodie, but you refuse.
You want to make a good impression on Ward, you tell him, that it’s important to you if his dad likes you, if he approves of you, if he likes having you around. Rafe doesn’t get why you care—you’ll still be in his life whether Ward approves or not—but he plays along with it.
You wear pretty blue dresses and bring chapter books from the library for Wheezie and some history novels for his dad. You’re all smiles and conversation at their normally silent table, which he thinks is nice. Rafe still believes it would be nicer if it was just the two of you, but he doesn’t say anything.
A picture constructs itself in his head—you and him at the dinner table of your house, the house you two will have together. You’d decorate everything all cute—he can picture it now—but he’s really focusing on when you and he can have these family dinners together, a couple of high chairs and pureed food and screaming toddlers running around. He doesn’t know where the image came from, probably from the sweet way you are with his family, but now it’s rooted itself like an infection that’s impossible to get rid of. He thinks of it, and feels better, and it must be obvious to everyone around him, but you never say anything.
It’s gotten to the point where even Ward notices it, though he refrained from commenting for as long as he could. Besides for dinner and the occasional Good morning sweetheart when you’re passing through the kitchen with Rafe, he doesn’t bother you two much.
That’s why it really surprises Rafe when he brings you up one day.
“You seem… better, son,” his father says, and he wants to summon up some kind of retort to fire back, but nothing comes to mind. Maybe the impact you have on him is bigger than he thought. “It’s good. She’s good for you. Make sure you take care of her.”
He thinks for a second. There was a time where the first thing out of his mouth would be Don’t tell me how to treat my girl.
“Yeah, I will. Thanks, dad.”
And then, suddenly, you’re everywhere, a part of everything. He can’t even sit in his truck without thinking of how you should be in the passenger seat. His house feels empty when you’re not curled on the couch trying to decide on what movie to rewatch for the millionth time. He can’t even find any insults for your stupid Pogue friends, because of course they want to spend time with you, when you make everything brighter like this.
Rafe used to think it’d be humiliating to feel like this, actually being dependent on someone for once, acting and doing better because of you and feeling better even when you’re not there. He doesn’t feel humiliated at all though, he feels surprisingly content, despite everything that’s going on. It’s all background noise now. He feels even better when his door opens, and you make your way into his bedroom.
“Hey,” you say, setting down your bag on his desk. It lands with a thud, probably filled with your current read and another couple of books for his sister. “They all went down to the Chateau to smoke, so I just came over, I hope that’s okay-” You stop talking when you turn and see how he’s looking at you, getting up from his bed to walk up to you. “Rafe? You okay?”
You look at him real sweet, like you’re wondering what could be wrong and how you can help fix it. It’s precious, but he already knew that. His father’s words run through his head again—he has to make sure to take good care of you.
“Perfect. Even better ‘cause you’re here now.” You shove your hand against his chest, letting out a breath of relief.
“You scared me,” you say with a laugh. You go back to your bag, rustling through it to produce three books, just like he guessed. He starts smiling when you turn around to offer it to him.
“Got one for you this time.” You're beaming, eyes looking at him expectantly.
“Thanks, kid,” he says, and he can’t help the smile that’s growing. He brings you in for a hug the way he always does, arm around your shoulder and guiding you to his chest, and you lean against him like that, holding on tight, breathing steady in his grip. Whatever anger and frustration was bubbling inside melts away with every passing second of touching your soft skin and smelling the scent of your hair.
It’s no surprise when you two end up a tangled mess in bed hours later, your head resting above his heart, wrapped in his grip, while you start reading the book you got for Rafe aloud.
“Y’know what we should do?” he starts, quietly, interrupting you while you’re flipping to the next page.
“Hm?” you murmur back, feeling your eyes fluttering shut without the book open and ready to read to distract you into staying awake. Rafe’s skin is warm and his grip is tight. You could fall asleep in seconds right now.
“Get married.”

A. Matthews - Worlds Worst Dad

✄————————————
Auston Matthews x Fem!reader
Word Count: 3.4k
Warning(s): another family fight.
When I had gotten the request to do Auston and Hudson angst, I had initially started with two fics and for whatever reason I had them both completed last season. So I tweaked this one a little so I could still post it.
—————————————
Hudson was too young to understand.
“Just listen to me, bud.”
Auston had been so busy with the playoffs, that he hadn’t been home. He had been so busy with his job, and myself with my own, that at some point, we lost sight of how important communication was. Not necessarily for us, but for Hudson.
“You said you wouldn’t leave!”
“I’m right here.” Auston sounded so lost. I couldn’t blame him. Neither of us really expected our reunion to go this way. Hudson had been patient at first when playoffs began, but at some point he had given up. He’d become upset at first, worried. Nervous. Then he became angry. So angry. I couldn’t see into his mind. I couldn’t understand what he felt, but I knew it had to do with the way his biological father left. Sure, he didn’t remember it happening, but after his grandfather let the story slip one day, ‘fathers’ became a fragile subject for Hudson.
“You’re not around any more!”
Auston responded to texts when he could, and always called back when he missed a call, but the time zone differences made things difficult. Hudson didn’t understand why Auston couldn’t talk. Why Auston never stayed on the phone long enough to speak to him.
I had thought Hudson’s behavior would turn around when I announced Auston’s return home. Apparently it didn’t. I knew the knockout was hard, and I knew it took a toll on Auston, but I also knew he was ready to be back. I had warned the man before he came home, but I hadn’t expected Hudson to lash out the way he did. It was the last thing any of us needed.
“I’ve been a little busy, Hudson. Just chill out okay?”
I felt like a horrible mother. A horrible lover.
“Don’t tell me to chill out! You left!”
“Hudson don’t speak to Auston that way.” I reprimanded hopelessly.
“I didn’t leave.” Auston argued with a scoffed out laugh.
“Yes you did! Get out!”
“Hudson.” I finally heard him get tense.
“Get out!”
“Hudson, listen to me!” Auston raised his voice. It wasn’t something he did with Hudson. Mainly because he never had to. I could tell by the silence, that Hudson was trying to understand what was happening. Trying to process what it meant that Auston was angry.
“No!” The boy finally shouted back.
“Hudson! I have to work!” Auston finally snapped. I flinched, raising my hand slowly to clasp over my mouth as I felt a pang of emotion in my chest. Hudson simply didn’t want to be abandoned again. Not by another dad.
“I don’t want you! You’re a horrible dad!”
I jumped off the couch as soon as I realized what had been said. The blanket over my legs falling to the floor.
“What? You don’t mean that.” Auston’s nervous laugh had my heart thudding against my chest.
“Yes. I do.” The determination in my son’s voice had me immediately crossing the room to reach my son. “You’re horrible.” I watched Auston’s expression shift, and I felt my own breath catch in my throat as I spotted the tears in his eyes. As I reached for my son, he turned, shoving my hand away and storming off down the hall. The slam of the bedroom door had both of us flinching. My hand flew up to rest against Auston’s arm, squeezing gently.
“Aus,” I couldn’t undo the damage that had been done. I could see it in Auston’s eyes. He was devastated. “You know he doesn’t mean that” I whispered as I tried to turn his body to face my own. “He’s just emotional.”
“He said it pretty loud and clear.” Auston gestured toward the door, speaking as if it was an obvious fact. And it was. But that didn’t mean anything. Hudson was a kid, and Auston had done no wrong. He’d understand that eventually, and come around.
“He’s having a hard time. You have to know that.” I tried to push a piece of Auston’s long hair back before he pulled away, pursing his lips and shaking his head. My stomach twisted in knots.
“That’s okay… it’s fine- I’m fine.” Auston shrugged, “I’ve gotta go and get my dog anyway.” I had never seen Auston guard himself before in such a manner. He’d always been open with his feelings and emotions. “I’ll talk to you some other time, okay?” He shrugged once again, trying to keep up with the chill facade he usually didn’t have to fake.
“You can stay tonight.” I tried, but I knew he wasn’t going to.
“No, it’s okay. I don’t think I’m really making your life easier right now.”
“You’re not here to make my life easier, Auston.” I watched him slip past me, and I followed him to the door. “Sometimes Hudson isn’t going to like things you do. He’s the kid. You’re still in charge.”
“I can’t be in charge of him if he fucking hates me!” Auston shouted in a hushed tone. I watched as tears finally began to roll down his cheeks. This was not the type of reaction he hoped for after such a shitty second round knockout. Things were piling up on him.
“Don’t go home alone like this.” I insisted, wishing I could have comforted him the way he had done for me so many times before.
“I’ll be fine.”
“I’m sorry, Aus.” I whispered as I watched him slip his shoes on.
“It’s not your fault.” He shrugged again.
“I’m still sorry. You don’t deserve it.” He turned to glance at me, eyes distant. Thinking.
“I probably do.”
We had said our goodbyes before Auston left. Auston and Hudson were best friends as much as they were family. I knew it killed Auston to think he’d hurt and disappointed Hudson. And I knew it made him feel terrible to think he’d done so horribly that Hudson hated him.
“Hudson.” I had waited a while to speak with my son, uncertain of what to say. When I pushed open his bedroom door, I found Hudson coloring in a book on the floor. Something bothered me about how calm he looked. He looked up from his coloring book when I approached, fidgeting with the blue crayon in his hand.
“Yeah?”
“Honey, you really hurt Auston.” I tried to be gentle as I spoke. I sat down on the floor across from Hudson, watching his eyes fall back to the book on the floor. “Hudson.” I tried to gain his attention. “Auston’s really sad. He doesn’t want you to be angry with him.”
Hudson’s hand shook slightly before he dropped the crayon. He remained silent before I heard him sniff.
“Then why’d he leave?”
“He told you, Hudson.” I moved to sit beside the boy, wrapping an arm around his back. “He’s gone away for work before.”
“But he always talks!”
“The end of the season was super busy for him, Hudson. Auston never meant to hurt you. He loves you, so much.”
“No he doesn’t.” Hudson pulled his knees to his chest, hiding his face in them as quiet cries escaped his lips.
“I promise he does. He always asked about you when he had time to call. He always said he was so excited to come home and see you. Hudson, he missed you more than he missed me.” I rubbed the boy’s back.
“No he didn’t.” Sometimes I cursed the heavens for giving my son the same stubborn behavior I held.
“Hudson.” I moved my hand from his back, turning his head to look at me. “Auston loves you more than anything. He hated being away for hockey. He hated the fact that he couldn’t be there to help you sign up for your first peewee team. He hated missing your last day of school, and he hated missing the little party we threw.” I watched the tears slip down his cheeks. “Auston tried so hard to call me that night. But things got in the way and he felt horrible.” Hudson leaned against my side, crying quietly as I returned my hand to his back, rubbing gentle circles.
“Is he mad at me?” Hudson’s voice trembled.
“Honey, I don’t think he’s angry. Just upset. You should never tell people you hate them. Especially someone as close to you as Auston is.”
“I’m sorry.” Hudson buried his head in his hands.
“I’m not the one you need to apologize to, hun.” I ran my hand through the boy’s hair. “And the only way that guilt is gonna go away, is if you say sorry to Auston.”
“I will.” Hudson croaked out, another sob shaking his body. I sat on the floor with him for a half an hour before he began to relax. As much as I wanted him to apologize and be over with the ordeal, I figured a day with nan was needed first. A day for him to get out of the house, to see one of his favorite people, to avoid the situation at hand. He’d been at home waiting for Auston for weeks. He needed a break.
So the next morning, I helped him pack up and promised I’d be there the following day to see him. He asked about apologizing to Auston, but I said it was a good thing to give somebody space when they’re upset. I didn’t tell him I had plans to visit Auston. Kids didn’t need to know everything.
“One minute!” I heard Felix bark. I hadn’t seen the dog in forever. I was tempted to press the doorbell again for the sake of fun, but just as I reached for it, Auston was pulling the door open and hooking a finger in Felix’s bandana to hold him back.
“Hey, what’s-“ he stopped the second he looked up from his dog, a smile slow to form on his lips. Though it faltered when his eyes wandered, taking note of the unusual silence.
“No Hudson.” I spoke reassuringly. “I just came to see you.” I wanted to check on him, but Auston didn’t need to know that.
“You can come in.” Auston stepped aside and let Felix go. I walked into the house as he shut the door, greeting Felix with a high pitched hello and rubbing the dog’s ears while he padded his feet on the floor and wagged his tail endlessly.
“Somebody just got a hair cut.” I commented. “And he looks so handsome!”
“Thanks.” I looked up at Auston when he spoke, laughing at his sarcasm.
“You certainly look like you could use one too. Need me to cut it?” I offered, standing upright to pull at a lock of his brown hair. “It is getting a little long.”
“If you have time.” Auston shrugged. I could tell he was uncertain as to whether this was a quick stop or a full day visit.
“Well, Hudson’s having a sleep over with nan. So, if you’ll have me, I wouldn’t mind staying here tonight.” I smiled. “I’ll have all the time in the world then.” I watched him smile and nod, reaching for one of my hands.
“Yeah, yeah you can stay.” I was surprised when Auston pulled me into a hug, his entire body pressed against my own while his head fell against my shoulder. He was stressed. I couldn’t help but wonder if it was still about Hudson.
“Come on, baby. Let’s get this hair cut.”
Auston and I had been so busy, that we almost forgot how important it was to continue to nurture our own relationship. I couldn’t help the guilt I felt as I watched him walk up the steps, following at a safe pace behind. I missed him. The alone time, the childish nights of cuddling and making out. Even the failed dates we vowed to never go on again.
I followed Auston into the master bathroom, setting the toilet seat down while he got the shears and hair clippers out, as well as a squirt bottle. He made sure everything was functional and ready before turning to me with his comb in hand.
This had not been what I came over for, but I knew a bit of loving contact would loosen him up and hopefully cause him to be more open to the conversation we needed to have. I wanted to be on the same page with Auston before he and Hudson spoke again. Sure, Hudson had said he’d hated Auston before, and yes they had sorted that conflict out on their own. But this was a little bigger than that. Hudson had hit Auston’s insecurities right on the head and he didn’t even know it.
“Pop a squat.” I spoke, gently resting my hand on Auston’s hip and guiding him down onto the toilet. “What did you and Felix do today?” I created small talk as I combed through Auston’s smooth hair, glancing at his face occasionally to see his eyes closed and a faint smile on his lips.
“We went for a walk. Hung out by the pool for a little while, planned his next playdate with Zeus. Oh! And I ordered him some new toys and treats for his birthday.”
“I forgot it was his birthday coming up. How old is he going to be?” Speaking of the dog, Auston and I both looked toward the door when his tags jingled. Felix sat in the doorway, dropping a ball on the floor and watching it bounce into the bathroom. Auston laughed. I had missed his happiness.
“Not now, buddy.” He spoke to his furry friend. “He’ll be turning five.”
“Five is a big number.” I teased softly, earning a laugh from Auston. I set his comb down after I finished using it, reaching for the bottle to begin spritzing his hair. Once I was sure it was well wetted, I swapped once again for the shears. “Hold still, okay?”
“Got it.” We sat in silence for close to five minutes before I watched Auston’s shoulders drop. Relaxed? Relieved?
“How are you feeling today?” My tone grew much softer, trying not to cause any discomfort. I watched Felix lay down in the doorway before I began to cut Auston’s hair.
“I guess I’m alright. Still a little shaken up.. about everything that’s happened, but I’m okay.”
“I spoke with Hudson last night. He was pretty upset about what he said to you.”
“I guess that’s good to hear.” Auston looked down at his hands. I sighed.
“You know how much he loves you, right? You are the first person on his mind every day.”
“Yeah, but-“
“No, Auston. Listen.. kids say things they don’t mean sometimes. They don’t have the best filters, or grasps on their emotions. And Hudson has never spent that long without seeing you before. It was a routine that got messed up, and for kids, routines are important. Routines are things they expect that they can trust to be consistent. This was a learning curve for everybody. He was anxious. He missed you, and it was hard for him to go to bed at night without hearing from you. He also doesn’t understand time.” I took Auston’s silence as a cue to go on. “Even if you did nothing wrong, he registered it as something wrong. It may take him some time to figure it out, but he still loves you, and once that consistency is restored, everything will be okay.”
Auston shuffled his feet slightly, nodding.
“I’m sorry I left last night.”
“Aus, a lot of shit happened last night. I didn’t expect you to stay. You’ve been so stressed, and I know that fight didn’t help at all. I’m just happy I can be here with you today.”
It was about fifteen more minutes before I finished cutting Auston’s hair. I set everything aside and grabbed a towel and a washcloth from his cabinet. “Why don’t you grab a shower, I’ll get you some clothes and we can go lay down for a bit.” I set the two towels down on the lip of the tub as Auston stood up. When I turned around, I came face to face with him.
“Thanks for being there,” his voice was barely louder than a whisper, hands landing on my hips. Our lips met briefly in a chaste kiss before I pulled away. “I’ll be fast,” he promised. I stepped out of the bathroom and pulled the door closed, fetching a fresh set of clothing from Auston’s dresser. I stepped back into the bathroom, placing the clothing on the counter top. Auston had already hopped into the shower, drawing the curtain back slightly to peek at me.
“Wanna join?”
I pretended to consider the question before I sighed, as if I was plagued by saying yes.
“Fine, but only because I missed you, Matthews.”
“Awesome.” I watched the curtain fall closed, laughing softly to myself. I stripped down, leaving my clothes in a heap on the floor. I slid the engagement ring off my finger, placing it in the jewelry dish by the faucet. One Auston had purchased for days and nights spent at his place. I climbed into the shower, Auston’s hands swiftly finding my body. I helped wash his hair, and rubbed the muscles that were sore while Auston busied himself with every inch of me. His behavior left me giggling for most of the shower, and once the water was turned off, I ushered him out, following close behind. Auston grabbed the towel I had set out for him, wrapping up with a smile on his lips.
“Gotta keep you warm,” Auston spoke, going the extra mile to kneel down and dry my legs. I ran my hands through his fresh cut hair while he worked, smiling to myself at how kind he was.
“Alright, why don’t you get dressed, Aus? I’m gonna go grab some clothes.” I slid out of the bathroom, grabbing a makeshift outfit for myself, constructed of Auston’s clothing. I had things to wear at his place, but his stuff was so much more comfortable.
When Auston stepped out of the bathroom, our eyes met. It had been so long since we were able to spend any time alone. I watched his expression shift into a look of mischief before he rushed in my direction. A gasp escaped my lips when he hoisted me up over his shoulder.
“Auston!” I shouted at him, but it was in vain. I felt him lift me up once again before my back came into contact with his mattress. Then I heard Felix bark, and soon he had joined us for some fun. The fluffy dog hopped up onto the bed, and I was quick to sit up to avoid any unwanted kisses.
“You’re an ass,” I whined at Auston in a playful tone. He climbed up onto the bed and gently pushed me down onto my back once again. Felix tried to invade our fun, sniffing at both Auston and I, before Auston gently waved him off.
“It’s not nice to insult your significant others.” Auston spoke, leaning in to press a kiss to my lips. He climbed off of me and up the bed, sitting down as I sat up. I joined him by the headboard, resting my hand beneath his jaw and bringing his lips to my own again.
“It’s not an insult. It’s a reality check,” I teased. Auston giggled softly, and I swore I could have heard him snort.
Auston laid down and settled his head in my lap. Felix approached with a wagging tail, sniffing at me, and my stomach, before laying down next to me.
“I missed you so much,” Auston whispered as his head came to rest atop my own. “I wish you and Hudson could have come to a game.”
“I know, it just wasn’t in the cards for us this time. It will be next time though.” Auston’s silence made me tense slightly.
“What if there isn’t a next time? What if we don’t make playoffs again?” I looked at him, brow furrowed.
“Whether there is or isn’t, Hudson and I will try to make every important milestone you reach. I can’t tell the future but I can tell you right now, that we love you very much, and we want to be there for you.” My words brought a smile to his lips.
“Thanks,” I pressed a kiss to Auston’s forehead. His eyes fell closed, sighing in comfort.
“Oh, and Hudson watched every one of your playoff games on the tv, just for the record.”

girl at home | mat barzal | part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: mat barzal x fem!reader summary: you’re eighteen when you find yourself pregnant after Mat leaves for hockey. nearly eight years later, Mat finds out about your daughter and you have to deal with the consequences of not telling him about her.
warnings: mentions of pregnancy, lil bit of angst with a sprinkle of fluff and not edited im sorry lol word count: 2.1k authors note: *screams internally* thank you guys so much for the love on this story so far. I was super hesitant to post it at first but I am glad you guys like it! I'm posting this a little early but updates will be every sunday from now on. This chapter is kinda sad but happy times are on the way <3 thanks for the feedback, and if you like part 2, let me know!
main masterlist masterpost tag list ask box
Sitting across from Mat for the first time in almost eight years, doesn’t go exactly as planned. He’s waiting for you even though you arrive fifteen minutes before the agreed time, hoping to rid yourself of the anxiety you are feeling which means he’s been here even longer. So you wipe your sweaty palms on your jeans and stride over to where he’s waiting and sit on the chair across from him. He’s staring at his phone so his head jerks up when he hears you.
The first words that come out of his mouth are: “are you sure she’s mine?”
Which, okay, that’s a fair question because you did tell everybody and their grandmother who asked that Mat was not the one who knocked you up. Of course, nobody actually believed you but there were a few people from your high school that believed it. Most girls who had always had a crush on Mat, would say that you cheated on him and obviously Nora couldn’t be his child because for some reason, they never actually accepted that you and Mat were a couple.
So yeah, his question is fair and you did know he would ask.
“Yeah, we can do a paternity test if you don’t believe me,” you say quietly. It’s not something you necessarily want to do, because then you’d have to come up with some reason to tell Nora why she needs to go get her cheek swabbed or blood tested. She’s as stubborn as Mat, and you would probably have to hold her down to get whatever the doctors needed unless she agreed.
“No, I believe you.”
His words take a huge weight off your shoulders but also replace it with a new one. You know Mat, he’s the kindest soul and has the biggest heart and he’s going to want to at least properly meet Nora and might ask to be in her life. In the first few years of her life, there wouldn’t have been anything you wanted more in the world. However, you’ve grown now and so has she. Your number one priority has to be what is best for Nora, and turning her life upside by introducing her to Mat is scary. For both you and her.
And Mat? Despite what he might think, he’s nowhere near prepared to jump into being her dad.
“Can I ask you something?” he says, pulling you from your spiraling thoughts.
“Sure,” you say even though you know what he’s going to ask. It’s a question you’re nowhere near ready to answer but you have no choice now.
“Why? Why didn’t you tell me about her?”
He doesn’t sound as angry as you were expecting, maybe thanks to his dad talking to him but there’s underlying hurt. You try to put yourself in his shoes, trying to think if there was anything in the world that would have stopped you from wanting Nora. You know for a fact that if Mat knew, he would have been in her life somehow but you’re not sure if he would have given up the NHL to do it, and that’s exactly why you didn’t tell him.
“I didn’t want to hold you back,” you say softly, watching his facial expression change. He just looked confused before but now he looks sad almost. His eyes close for a moment and when he opens them, you feel like you’ve been punched in the stomach.
“I thought you knew me better than that.”
“I did! I do,” you argue. “If you knew about her, it would have kept you away from everything you worked hard for. Your dream was the NHL, Mat. If I told you about her, it would’ve crushed that dream. We didn’t want to hold you back.”
“Yeah,” he scoffs. “Who’s we? You and my parents? You shouldn’t have made that choice for me, it wasn’t right.”
“This is a child we’re talking about Mat. Were you really ready at eighteen to drop everything and raise one?”
“Were you?”
“No,” you say truthfully. “But I didn’t have a jersey with my name on the back waiting for me.”
He doesn’t say anything and for a moment, it’s silent between the two of you with background chatter from the cafe. You’re sure that he’s just going to get up and storm out but he takes a deep breath and slowly exhales, knotting his fingers together.
“I wish you’d told me,” he mumbles before looking up at you. “I would’ve stayed.”
“I know,” you whisper but you can’t meet his gaze.
. . .
You’re picking Nora up from her day camp a couple of days later when you get a message from Mat asking if he can meet up with you. There’s been no contact since the two of you last met, having left with a short goodbye to pick up Nora. He hadn’t asked to see her and you hadn’t offered so you thought maybe he would leave it but you should’ve known better.
You fire off a sure, see you in twenty, and debate on whether to bring Nora with you or drop her off with your mom. Mat might not even want to see her, but if he’s reaching out to you again it’s probably about her.
“Wanna go meet my friend?” you ask, looking back at her to gauge her reaction. She might just want to go home after all day at camp, but she perks up immediately when you ask.
“The one from the grocery store?” she squeals but narrows her eyes and gives you a suspicious look. “Hey, I thought you said he was a stranger.”
Shoot.
“Well, he was to you,” you try to explain. “I knew him when I was younger.”
“As young as me?”
“As young as you,” you tell her and she grins, nodding her head and shouting an excited yes, so you pull out of the parking-lot and start towards Mat’s parents house. You’re a little nervous to be around his family after dancing around them for so long after Nora was born. Meeting up with Liana wasn’t as hard as you were expecting, but you’re not so sure about his parents. Aside from the occasional awkward greeting, you haven’t properly spoken to them since before Nora and you’re starting to think maybe bringing her will just make things worse but before you can change your mind, you’re parking your car in the driveway.
He’s sitting outside on the porch swing when you step out, and his eyes widen in surprise when Nora climbs out of the car. He definitely wasn’t expecting you to bring her but this could be a good test. If he decides he wants to be part of her life, having all their interactions scheduled wouldn’t be a good start so you decide to just jump in the deep end.
“Hey,” you call out before grabbing Nora’s hand and making your way towards him. He’s already making his way down the pathway and meets you about half way, pulling you into a surprising hug before crouching down to Nora’s level.
“Hey Nora,” he says, smiling gently and offering her his hand to shake just like last time. “Do you remember me?”
She bobs her head once, accepting his hand but tries to hide her face in your leg. Of course now, she’s practicing Stranger Danger, instead of blurting out her full name.
“Mom made dinner, if you guys are hungry?”
Family dinner is just about the last thing you want to do but Nora perks up at the idea of food so you agree, following Mat into the all too familiar home you spent so much time in as a kid. Not much has changed, you realize as you look around the foyer. It feels a bit like coming home but you’re not sure if you were missed.
“Smells good,” you say, trying to make conversation and Mat smiles awkwardly.
“Yeah, mom is making your favorite.”
How she can remember your favorite meal is beyond you, but you’re not about to miss a peace offering and this is certainly one.
“My favorite food is spaghetti,” Nora informs him and you watch Mat nod seriously, taking in anything she says. You try not to look too deep into it because even though he knows she’s biologically his, Nora is still just a cute kid talking a mile a minute about anything and Mat has probably been trained on how to handle excited children.
When the three of you make your way to the living room, with Nora still chatting excitedly, you stop short when you see a picture frame on the wall.
It’s you. Well, it’s you and Mat at graduation. Arms wrapped around each other and Mat kissing your forehead. If you look close enough, you can see past your smile and see the sadness in your eyes. This was before you were pregnant but you were already grieving the loss of Mat. He left for hockey shortly after and your only reminder was the brown haired little girl still talking to Mat.
“Is that you, mama?” Nora asks suddenly, standing on the tips of her toes so she can get a better view. Her nose scrunches up and she looks at the photo, then Mat, and then the photo again.
“Oh,” she says and you sigh.
“Let’s go see Mat’s parents.”
Nadia and Mike are waiting in the kitchen, trying to make it seem like they weren’t listening in on the conversation. Liana is sitting at the table, reading a book casually but you know she was probably listening too.
“This is Mike, Nadia, and Liana,” you tell Nora who lights up at Nadia’s name.
“My middle name is Nadia!” She squeals and you stare at the floor, not wanting to meet any of their eyes. Someone - probably Nadia - inhales sharply and then lets out what sounds like a sob.
“That’s a beautiful name,” Liana says and you look up to see her looking at Nora with a soft smile on her face. Mike has an arm wrapped around Nadia who’s trying, and failing, to hide tears. You’re glad Liana is trying to distract Nora because you’re about two seconds away from crying and Mat must be able to tell because you feel his hand lightly touch your back. His hand lingers for a moment until you take a deep breath and blow it out steadily.
Then his hand is gone and you feel the loss right away.
“Hey, we have a swing outside in the backyard,” Mat tells Nora. “Wanna go check it out while dinner finishes cooking?”
He looks at you for permission so you nod, smiling at Nora when he takes her hand and leads her outside. Liana follows shortly after and then it’s just you, Nadia and Mike. Both their eyes are red rimmed and Nadia only hesitates for a moment before striding over and pulling you into a tight hug.
“Thank you, my girl,” she whispers and all you can manage is a nod because you’ll probably cry now if you try to talk. The two of you just stand there for a couple minutes until Mike chuckles. You pull away, wiping your eyes to see him standing in front of the patio door so you make your way over to see what he’s looking at and almost start crying again.
Mat and Nora are playing what looks like a game of tag, Liana laughing at them while trying to film. It’s exactly the kind of thing you had sometimes allowed yourself to imagine.
“Would you look at that,” Mike says softly.
“He’s a natural,” Nadia agrees. “Always was.”
Then she turns to you with a small smile on her face. “I know the struggles of being a mom. You have to do what’s best for your kids…” she hesitates, gazing outside before looking back at you. “He wants to try, if you’ll give him the chance. We’d all love to get to know Nora.”
You would love nothing more than to have Mat’s family in Nora’s life. For her to get to know her other grandparents but you can’t help but be scared of what could happen if you let Mat into her life. She could get attached only to have him ripped away when he has to go back to New York but you can’t have Nora in Nadia, Mike, and Liana’s life and not Mat’s.
But maybe you owe it to Mat, to give him a chance at having a place in her life after not telling him about her all this time. You were doing what you thought was right - what was right - but if Mat really wants to be part of her life, maybe it’s time.
You look outside and see Nora on Mat’s shoulders with Liana chasing them, before looking back at the woman in front of you and smiling softly.
“I think Nora would love that.”

Kai,llyod, and Cole hc of them with a s/o that's kinda like a child of aphrodite from pjo? A bit more like piper though, they hate their gift and have to deal with cat callers alot?
I got cat called by way older men on the way home so this would be really comforting.
A/N:sorry it took so long to get this out for you. Ik my words can't offer much, but I'm sorry you get catcalled, it's not a fun feeling.
Sugar and spice-> Gn! Reader
individual headcanons of kai, cole and lloyd with a stunning S/O
Tumblr media
Kai:
Kai, despite being extremely similar to his element in a multitude of ways, is an utter gentleman.
Hes always respectful of you, and makes sure to ask before he touches you in anyway, and is respectful with his eyes as well
With this said, as you guys grow close and start dating, he becomes uber protective of you.
He knows your very stunning.
And he knows others know that as well.
But alot of times, these people are creepy and go about saying: "hi, your outfit is cool" weirdly
And so he won't hesitate to punt a bitch into the sun
Most likely to throw a punch before a word leaves the creeps mouth.
And if your ever feeling gross and icky bc of the creeps?
Bros pulling out every stop.
Hes getting Zane to make a 10 course Michelin star meal, he's getting your comfort items, a hoodie (yours or his, doesn't matter) and he's becoming a 10/10 massager
Hes getting self care items, and a bath along with movies and cuddles with a side of shoulder to cry on
But if you get angry about the creeps??
He eggs you on. Agrees with you"YEAH BABE, FUCK THOSE ASSWIPES"
he will actively encourage any fist fights fights want to start with them
Hes your number 1 hype man, as well as comforter
Tumblr media
Cole:
This man worships the ground you walk on. Just generally
Also drinks the respect tea (all of them do)
Hes always telling you how amazing you look, and even gives advice for anything you may need
Clothes? Food? Whatever hobby your working on?
He just has a eye for style of all categories
Hes generally also more down to earth, and realizes its much more than looks that makes a person
Which is why it takes him a bit longer to confess, as he wanted to get to know you better first (this man is demiromantic and demisexual)
Hes also fucking oblivious
So when people are more... sly about their intentions, like wording and such, he prolly won't notice
But the second he gets wind of what they are tryna pull
Hes super passive aggressive
And he slings a arm around your shoulder, or hides you behind him
Trys to talk it out first, and if they don't catch the hint they will catch his hands
Hes not... great with comfort tbh
His mom's dead and his dad's lowkey emotionally unavailable so he's not good at it
But he will rub your back when you cry, and buy takeout
He'll also prolly ask kai or Jay about how to comfort you better, bc both had either a sibling or parent.
He would ask Nia buts she's a younger sibling with a emotional brick wall of a brother so it's next to never she did some comforting.
Hes a little confused when it comes to comfort but Hes got spirit
Tumblr media
Lloyd:
He has always been a little silly
So expect to bark at your aggressors
Idk why I just see him barking at your catcallers
Besides that
Hes always relied more on personality for if he likes someone, like cole
Not that kai doesn't care for personality he does, but looks plays a bigger factor for kai than they do cole and lloyd
Anyways
Off topic
Lloyd doesn't make a big deal how you look. Like doesn't comment on your outfits like cole.
Doesnt mean he doesn't think you don't look nice, bc he thinks you look lovely always
But moreso doesn't give a fuck
Wear a potato sack, or go naked, he doesn't give a fuck he just wants to get to the mall before it closes to he can check out the anime shops
He Def has a idrc additude, especially in dragon rising i feel, so I think if you want compliments you'd have to be outright about it, whereas the other two just kinda;"aww my partner is lovely🥰🥰"
And he's like;"babe, love you to bits and pieces but hurry the fucketh upeth I wanna get there before the fucking store closes"
And bc of that he's also the worst at comfort
Like he's always been told to suck it up so he kinda just is like... cool you done? And stands there awkwardly. He will get better with time, but please explain how to help better for future moments bc he was a Lil scared when you started crying.
Anyways back to the beginning about when mfs are being creepy
Barks at them
Fr barks
Bc it weird them out and he thinks it's funny
Or just tries to be as weird as possible
Like starts acting possessed
Crawls backwards on all fours like the lady from the ring or smth
If generally weirdness doesn't work he fights them
Though he tries to scare them off first

My Fathers Daughter pt8
The Dinner
summary: It's finally time for the dinner you've been dreading since your arrival, awesome. At least you get to know some of the bat family better than before
Also I forgot if I put the ages for these characters if I did and anyone could tell me that would be awesome.
Tumblr media
When you first arrived to Gotham, you weren't really sure what to think.
Like yeah, you knew it was gonna suck cause you were moving in with the woman who deserted you and your father, causing you to grow up faster than you were meant to and giving you trust issues.
And sure, Gotham seems to have some sort of disaster literally every single day of the week.
But at this point, you really would rather chance it with the clown or whatever than sit through this awkward ass dinner.
"ahem"
Everyone eyes shoot to Bruce, who cleared his throat, breaking the awkward silence everyone was eating in.
"Y/n" He starts, causing you to groan internally. You were tired of being in the spotlight, especially when you knew half of this family doesn't fuck with you .
"I know I've said this before, but I know how hard sudden life changes like this are. If there's anything you need to be comfortable please let me know. This is your home now too."
You smile slightly, but before you could say anything Damian interrupts you
"Tch, father you say that as if she's a part of this family. We all know shes not."
"Damian, enough." Christine says sternly, " You've been difficult the whole day. Leave your sister alone."
"Oh please Mother, she's no blood of mine nor yours" he says absent minded
This was your chance.
"Well she actually pushed me out so..." You say taking a sip of your drink. You relished in the reactions from around the table
Jason snorted so hard his drink spilled
Dick looked disgusted and amused at the same time.
Tim looked disgusted but thats cause Jasons snort water managed to splash him from across the table. But the best reaction was from Damian and Cass. They just looked straight up angry.
Angry at the thought of their mother pushing you our of her cooch. Which was the most hilarious thing to you.
"How dare you speak about our mother like that? Have you no respect?"
"Dude, I'm gonna be honest I cannot take you seriously while you talk like an Asgardian. Get with the century Tiny Tim."
Another snort comes from Jason, " You know what kid, you're alright with me"
"I'm nineteen." You deadpan
"You look like you're twelve" Jason snarks
You pause for a bit before saying, "I'll tell you what you look like but you won't like it."
"Okay children, enough." Christine says, " Y/n, how do you like the room?"
"It's... very Addams family chic." You say, not really trying to be rude, " But if I'm being honest it's gonna take some getting used to."
"Well, you have free reign to decorate it anyway you'd like." Christine says, " In fact, we can make a day out of it!"
You physically have to stop yourself from cringing, " Um, yeah.. that sounds interesting, Or i can just order everything off amazon, no hassle."
" Oh it's no bother, it would give us some time to catch up" Christine says excitedly, " Oh we can make it a girls day, you and me!"
You feel someone glaring daggers into your head, as you turn you make eye contact with Cass.
Oh great, another Damian.
"Um.." You were never good in uncomfortable situations. Usually you would signal to your dad or Pepper and they'd find a way to get you out of it.
Even if you were good at navigating through uncomfortable situations, you doubt that anyone would know that to do in these circumstances.
"I mean some of the stuff I can only get online anyways so.." You say awkwardly.
You see Christine deflate and then more glares from the peanut gallery. Honestly its starting to get old.
" You know if you two keep glaring at me, your face will get stuck like that. " You say sarcastically, " Honestly doesn't it hurt to have such a sour face all the time? You're gonna get some crazy frown lines"
But before either Damian or Cass could respond, Bruce stood with a " Okay then! Y/n, how about you take my credit card and get whatever you need online, then your mother will take you AND Cass shopping"
Oh, this was a rich dads way of saying shut up.
"Great a whole day with Wednesday and Morticia." you mutter as Alfred takes your barely touched plate, " Thanks Lurch."
Alfred looks semi amused at the comparison. At least he appreciates your wit.
"Hey" A voice calls to catch your attention, it was Jason.
"I'll take you to your bedroom while Alfred cleans up, don't need you getting lost."
You look at him suspiciously, but take his offer wanting to be alone.
"If you kill me, there's gonna be a lot of pissed off superhero's on your ass." You say following him out of the room.
"Trust me princess, I'm not the one you have to worry about killing you." Jason scoffs.
"Yeah the little ones look like they might stab me in the shower." You say with a wince, " What did i do to them anyway?"
" Trust me its not you." Jason says, " They are the the easiest to be around, there's a wall there." He gestures to his heart.
"Ah"
"But if I'm being honest, finding out about you has been a shock to all of us." He says," I honestly thought Ma couldn't have kids."
You snot cruelly, " Yeah well finding out about all of you hasn't been easy for me either."
"I bet. You know, most of us haven't had much luck with mothers or families. That's why we're here."
"I have a family. A pretty good one too."
"I'm just saying I understand why you'd be angry. I was for a long time. I think sometimes I still am." Jason says before stopping, " Well here we are. If you tell anyone I told you that I'll deny it and they'll believe me."
"Thanks." You simply say, " It's nice to not hate one person that lives here."
And with that you go into the your room and close the door.

So in Hell’s Greatest Dad, Lucifer tells Charlie that ‘with a punch of a pentagram’ and ‘usually I charge a sacrificial lamb’ when he’s offering to help her with the hotel and it got me thinking. Surely he must have had people sacrifice things in his honour or for favours before right? So….what if when something is sacrificed to him it ends up down in Hell?
It works like some sort of inter dimensional postal service. Lucifer will just be doing whatever then a portal will open up above him full of weird oil slick coloured clouds and lightening cracking across the endless sky with the boom of thunder not far behind. Out of the portal flies a cherub sized faun wearing a shirt, waistcoat and bow tie brandishing a clipboard that’s got the contract attached to it. All the important things will be on there like who’s doing the sacrificing, what they are sacrificing and what they want in exchange for it. Lucifer can either accept the sacrifice and sign the document, giving the sinner what they want or just straight up refuse to sign, decline the sacrifice and instead have it sent off to purgatory.
The problem is that Lucifer is so jaded that he doesn’t even bother reading the contracts any more. Sinners all want the same thing anyway, fame, fortune, revenge, so what’s the point even bothering to look these days? It’s not like he gets that many sacrifices in his name anymore and when he does it’s mostly just lambs and goats, the occasional dog or guinea pig and a cat that one time. He often just gives them to people as pets, it’s how Charlie had gotten razzle and dazzle.
But you know, people are deranged and over the centuries there have been a handful of human souls that come his way. Lucifer never accepts those, often get angry that people actually think killing someone would make him happy. Shocker, it doesn’t. All it did was prove that humans really are just the worst, a race of violent psychopaths hellbent on causing as much pain and destruction as they can. Yes Lucifer felt bad that these people had died and for nothing but he wasn’t about to reward some lowlife scumbag for taking another’s life so unfortunately that meant the sacrificed soul was purgatory bound. It wasn’t ideal but it also wasn’t permanent. At least there they would get the chance to move onto heaven eventually and not be stuck in this infernal nightmare for all of eternity.
So no, Lucifer didn’t do human sacrifices. Except, well, maybe he did.
It was an accident! Lucifer had been distracted, him and Charlie having a slight disagreement about the hotel and her expectations when it came to heaven. He hadn’t meant to upset her but she needed to realise that very few angels would be as open to the idea of redemption as he or Emily had been. It had been just about the time Lucifer had been urging Charlie to proceed with caution when it came to Heaven that a portal opens above him, a little faun flying out, clipboard already in hand and looking down at Lucifer through the spectacles perched on its nose.
Lucifer had attempted to ignore the blasted thing but it just flys around his head, brandishing the clip board and tapping impatiently at its wristwatch until Lucifer finally had enough and snatches the board off him, quickly flipping to the back and signing it before shoving it back at the startled faun. It just huffs at him, jotting something down before tearing off a sheet and giving it back to Lucifer only to disappear back into the portal. Lucifer doesn’t look at the contract he just signed, not caring what shallow and self serving thing the mortal had asked for. He goes back to Charlie, continuing to urge to not trust heaven so easily, all the while holding his arms out expectantly to catch whatever animal is going to drop out of the portal.
Lucifers expecting a lamb or a goat, heavyish for a human but nothing for him, except he gets something much larger and heavier, the shock of it knocking Lucifer to the ground. His first thought is some wretched mortal had sacrificed a cow or horse, either to lazy to find the usual offering or thinking the bigger the sacrifice the better the reward. Either way Lucifer is already regretting his choice to grant their wish, no clue what he is supposed to do with a cow other than send it down to a farm on wrath. Grumbling Lucifer sits up slightly, tugging at his hat that had been pushed down over his eyes but when he mages to pull his hat off Lucifer realises it’s so much worse than a cow.
There’s a person on his lap. A very human person sprawled across his lap and legs, their weight pinning him to the floor. You are dressed all in a white, the fabric almost see through though the top part was stained red with blood. Lucifer can’t look past your chest, the demonic sigils carved there still oozing blood. When he does manage to look up it’s to fined wide fear filled eyes staring back at him. The two of you just stare at one another, Lucifer feeling more and more panicked as the seconds drag on whilst you look close to passing out.
The whole room is silent and Lucifer just knows that they are all staring at the two of you, just as shocked as him and waiting for one of you to do something. Charlie is the first one to make a move, slowly creeping across the room to lay a hand on your shoulder. She probably meant to be a reassuring gesture but it’s a mistake nonetheless. It startled you, causing you to fall from Lucifers lap and giving you the first real view of the room and the rest of its inhabitants. Things go about as well as you would think.
You start screaming, Charlie panics as she tries to calm you down but only makes it worse, Angel dust offers you a drink that gets knocked out his hand and ends up all over Husk and Alastor offers to silence you permanently. Needless to say that none of what they are doing helps calm you down or make you feel any less afraid and all Lucifer does is sit there, staring down at the smear of red on his white pants and struggling to wrap his head around what in the hell is happening because he couldn’t have just accepted a human soul as payment. He’s never done that before, never, and yet there you are, cowering in the corner like a frightened animal, eyes franticly darting around as you look for some form of escape.
It’s that look of pure terror that gets Lucifer up and moving, handing off his hat and cane to Charlie as he gets everyone to back up and give you some space. He approached you slowly, hands held up in front of him to show you he meant no harm and keeping his voice soft and calm as he tells you that no one’s going to hurt you, that your safe here with them. He makes sure to leave a little bit of space between you when he stops, sinking down into a crouch so he’s eye level though you won’t look at him for long, eyes darting around at even the slightest movement. You’re still bleeding, the sigil for his name looking the deepest. It makes Lucifer feel sick, that someone could do this to you and claim that it’s in his honour. He found no honour in an act like this, only hate and disgust, igniting a strong desire inside him to hunt down those responsible and show them the same kindness they had you.
It takes a good few minutes of Lucifer talking at you before he gets any form of response. He introduces himself, tells you once more that he isn’t going to hurt you and that he just wants to help and maybe even clean up those markings so they don’t get infected. It’s slow going but eventually you give him a slight nod, uncurling from where you had been trying to make yourself as small as possible so he can get a better look at the ugly mess of cuts on your chest. He startled you when he conjures water and a cloth, Lucifer apologising as you bang into the wall behind you in an attempt to get away from the sudden action. He does get you to calm down though, at least enough for him to clean away the blood and apply bandages.
These wounds will not disappear like the injuries the now resident of Hell would sustain, their origin in magic and acting as a physical sign of your binding to him. But Lucifer vows to look after them and you, after all this is all his fault and though he knows that Charlie would care for you if he was to up and leave he can’t bring himself to do so. It’s his responsibility to look after you, you are his after all and isn’t that just a horrific twisted little thought. Lucifer wants to cry, to beg your forgiveness because unless he was to gift your soul to another you were bound to him from now until eternity, forced to obey his every request regardless of what you wanted. He can’t cry though, not when you already are, silent tears rolling down your cheeks and dripping off your chin onto his hand and arm as he cleans away the blood. So he fights back the tears, completely focused on his task and trying to be as gentle as he possibly can be.
When he’s done and the now ruined rag and pink water are vanished away with the wave of his hand Lucifer doesn’t know what else to do other than offer you a safe space of your own and a comfortable bed to sleep in so he does exactly that. You look terrified when he asks if you would like to go to bed, eyes dropping down to just below his belt. Lucifer might actually be sick when he realises what you are scared is going to happen and he can’t get the words out quick enough to reassure you that he means to sleep and that you will be the only person in the room. His obvious horror at the implication seems to reassure you and you give him a small nod.
You use the wall to support you getting up but as soon as you go to take a step forward your legs buckle and Lucifer has to lurch forward to grab hold of you before you can hit the floor. Your to weak, wether that be from the shock or the blood loss Lucifer doesn’t know, possibly both, but what he does know is you are not going to make it up the several flights of stairs on your own.
He asks before picking you up, waiting for you to give him a nod of agreement before he slips one hand behind your back and the other behind your knees. It’s nothing for him to pick you up but it had you squeaking in surprise, flinging your arms around his neck and pulling yourself tighter against him. Lucifer can’t help laugh softly, assuring you that he was stronger than he looked and that he wouldn’t drop you. You don’t seem to buy it though, your hold around his neck tightening as you hide your head against his shoulder. He can’t blame you for being scared, Licifer looks like a strong breeze would send him stumbling but he supposes that’s one of the perks of being an angel, he’s stronger than he looks.
It’s only when he turns around that Lucifer realises the rooms completely empty except for the two of you. He doesn’t know when everyone else disappeared but he’s grateful for it, not sure how you would have reacted to a room full of weird looking people staring at you. He talks to you the whole time up to your room, telling you where he was taking you and a little about the hotel and it’s residents, though he mostly tell you about Charlie and Vaggie, the only other people he trusts to look after you correctly if he wasn’t around. Lucifer picks a room for you on the same floor as him though a couple of doors down in an attempt to keep you close and also give you some probably much needed distance. He sets you down on the bed, tells you where everything is including his room, just in case you need him before he comes back to check the bandages in a few hours. He does conjure you some sleep clothes though, making sure they were the softest and most comfortable thing you have ever worn. He wants you to be comfortable, to actually feel safe after what you have been through and though he knows the simple kindness he has showing you will not erase that it will hopefully show you that despite what you may have heard Lucifer isn’t all that bad.
Lucifer hates himself just a little bit more after what he does next, crouching down to look you in the eye and telling you that you can’t leave the hotel room unless he comes to get you or you are going to his room and nowhere else. Normally it would just be words but you are bound to Lucifer now and even you don’t want to you will have no choice but to obey him. You stiffen, nodding your head slightly but still you don’t say a word, not even when he bids you good night. He doesn’t even get the door half way closed before he hears you start to cry. He wants to go back, to take you in his arms and apologise for what has been done to you whilst reassuring you that life here will not be as bad as you think. He doesn’t though, wanting to give you time to greave and mourn the loss of your life.
He doesn’t even make it two steps down the corridor before it all really hits him and Lucifer crumbles, sinking to the floor and pressing his hand against his mouth in an attempt to muffle his own sobs. He doesn’t know what he’s supposed to do, or how he’s even meant to care for you correctly. Animals were easy, simple to please, humans not so much. Plus Lucifer owned you, he would have to be extremely carful of what he said because even an offhanded comment would be taken as a command and you could end up getting seriously hurt.
It’s too much, Lucifer not equipped to deal with such responsibility but he has no choice, he has to. This is all his fault after all and he couldn’t abandon you in your hour of need. No he would figure this all out, tend to your wounds and help you adjust to life here in hell. He would help you find a place to call home, maybe at the hotel helping with the sinners or maybe something down in one of the other rings. Just somewhere you could feel truly safe and at ease. Whatever you wanted Lucifer would make it yours, giving you as much a slice of paradise as he can. How else would he atone for his mistake?

Would a platonic yandere Ares. X F reader because in the myths he is very much giving girl dad
Platonic!Ares + Daughter!Reader
Ares is already protective and great yandere material so I don’t think this is to ‘ooc’ but having to raise a daughter definitely brings out his softer side.
Tumblr media
Ares is definitely a good dad, in fact amazing compared to most other gods. He actually killed Poseidon’s son for abusing one of his daughters and he’d do all that and much more for you.
Maybe you were his daughter from Aphrodite but had to live under you fathers care once she had to return to her husband Hephaestus. Or maybe you were born to a human mother but either way I do see him insisting he raise you on Olympus to keep you out of trouble. Especially due to his tendency to wage conflicts amongst humans.
Having a daughter around would bring him a lot of amusement, he encourages havoc and freedom, and comes of as a very laid back father letting you speak however and run around doing whatever you choose. He’s surprisingly empathetic and gentle with you, never did you feel unloved or out of place in your fathers care.
His favourite pass-time is watching you torment the servants. Or if you are a more polite child despite his encouragement to not be, he enjoys telling you stories of his battles as you sit in his lap curiously watching the people down on earth scurry around like ants.
He doesn’t subject you to any of his anger -it’s inevitable he get angry around you but never at you. He’s one of the least manipulative and controlling parents for sure, he doesn’t need to be worried when everyone knows you’re the daughter of the most temperamental gods representing the brutal spirit of battle.
But just because he doesn’t aim any anger or harm towards you doesn’t mean he shields you eyes from the chaos and destruction he causes. I actually see him influencing you from a early age to be desensitised to the battles and deaths he has a hand in.
Some days you sit with your father watching over the battles, laughing and commentating like it’s some sport. He’s refused to marry or have close friends because people oppose him so readily due to his crass morals, but with you, you adore your father and enjoy anytime you spend with him even if it’s listening to his war plans or grumble about his enemies.
In a world that he feels a lot of indifference or hate towards you are a fresh perspective, a young mind. Most of his days are spent with you in his company, often asking about your thoughts on a matter or using your chatter take his mind off a matter.
Other times he amuses you and teaches you to spar or use a weapon. Obviously since you were a child you learned to fight, after you could walk he was already indoctrinating the spirit of fight in you by very gently play fighting you but now your older he takes it seriously. With you he can joke and crack a few laughs but when teaching you to fight he becomes stern.
Of course that’s the only thing he makes you do. You choose to be in his presence and he lets you talk to who you want because he knows that they know he’s always watching and ready to start a war amongst the gods if anyone even speaks to you in the wrong way.
Like your father you’re not widely worshiped but definitely known amongst gods and humans, he makes no effort to hide you but rather for people to be weary of you and be on their best behaviour -because dads always not to far behind.

summary: Manipulated into a secret relationship with Rafe Cameron, you’re finding it much easier said than done to do the right thing and walk away…especially when he refuses to let you.
~
You laid in bed, fingers clutching your pillow as you tearfully stared at your window. It was locked, as it always was these days, but that didn’t matter much when Rafe had already cemented himself in your life. Your throat hurt, and your eyes were tight from how much crying you’d done, and as your parents’ voices traveled through the wall, you felt your eyes water again.
They’d been arguing all afternoon and all night.
About you.
Your dad was too disappointed and too angry to even look for a silver lining in this while your mom, who’d always spoke of grandkids for as long as you could remember, was trying to find some positive in this. Her hurt and disappointment were still palpable too. After all, what parent dreamed of their eighteen-year-old kid getting knocked up before they even went off to college or had some semblance of a life?
You closed your eyes, thinking of how Rafe ruined everything.
As much as you hadn’t even wanted to the first time, you were resigning yourself to getting another abortion. Before, where you’d at least had some semblance of hope that a baby would put things into perspective for Rafe, now you knew just what he was capable of. As much as it didn’t sit right with you, you were much surer this time around.
…but then Rafe happened…again.
Your mind took you back to earlier in the day when you’d slapped him in the bathroom. You were sure that you’d never hit him before. In all the madness of what he put you through, you’d never tried to hurt him in any way that wasn’t self-defense. When the slap barely did anything, you’d hit him again and again.
While your parents were talking to Ward about your future, you were trying to hurt Rafe as badly as he’d hurt you.
“I can’t believe you,” you’d choked out, vision blurry from your tears. “I can’t believe you.”
That was all you’d been able to say for a while, so in shock and disbelief at what he’d done. Not even just with telling your parents, but getting you pregnant on purpose in the first place. You knew that he did. Everything was too coincidental. Not to mention, his words from that last night were still plain as day in your head.
He’d promised that everyone would know you were his.
“If you think-.”
“If I think what?” he’d wondered, stepping towards you and crowding you against the wall. “Hmm?”
You had swallowed, tearful gaze holding his cold one as he stared you down.
“If you thought I was going to let you get away from me, get rid of my child,” you flinched at the emphasis there. “…move on and run off to college like we never happened, maybe you are dumb.”
Your lips trembled, nails digging into your palms.
“If you’re even thinking there’s some way you can get out of this, I’m all too happy to tell you you’re wrong,” he spat. “My father will fight whatever legal battle you try to throw our way, and you know it.”
Rafe’s nose brushed yours, and the only sound you could really register was your heavy breathing.
“That baby is a Cameron. It belongs to me,” he quietly told you. “…and so does its mother.”
You had furiously blinked, more tears falling, and Rafe had reached up to wipe them away. His hands rested on your cheeks, thumbs brushing against your damp skin, and you had watched his face fall some, evening out.
“Don’t make this hard on yourself when it doesn’t need to be,” he’d whispered, almost begging. “You love kids. I know you do, and it’s how I know you hated getting rid of the first one.”
You’d looked away.
“You didn’t even give me a chance.”
“You didn’t give me a choice.”
Your eyes had met his again, more tears falling.
“I can take care of you both—I will take care of you both,” Rafe had darkly promised, and if it weren’t for the fact that your pregnancy had been intentional, you would’ve thought it sweet. “You’ll want for nothing-.”
“Except for someone who doesn’t hurt me and rape me, right?”
He’d pressed his lips together at that, and you shook your head, fighting back more tears.
“Rafe, you can’t do this,” you’d shakily whispered, tone pleading.
His brows drew together, and he tilted his head.
“…and what are you going to do to stop me? Hmm?”
You hadn’t had an answer for him.
“You can try and press charges, but we both know that won’t end well.”
You’d looked down at that.
“You can try and run from me, but I will always find you,” he’d promised. “…and if you think you can sneak off to Charlotte again, I’d like to see you try.”
You’d closed your eyes, hating the truth in his words more than anything.
“…and beautiful…”
You’d reluctantly opened your eyes at the nickname, trembling as Rafe pressed his hands to the wall on either side of your head. His dark blond hair kissed his forehead, and his blue eyes gleamed dangerously.
“If you try to keep this baby from me, I’ll ruin your fucking life.”
You released a shaky breath as he looked between your eyes.
“I’ll show you just how bad things can really get.”
You couldn’t imagine how things could get worse, but if Rafe was consistent with one thing, it was proving that particular thought wrong. When he reached up to touch your face, you shivered, and you could see that he was looking to where the faint bruise on your cheek would be if it weren’t for your makeup.
“It doesn’t make sense to try and do things the hard way each and every time when you’re just going to get the same result—right back to me.”
Rafe’s words rang true, even now as you laid in bed, but it didn’t mean you had to like them. God, you knew that coming up with anything to fight Rafe wouldn’t end well for you. You knew that it would only prolong the inevitable, but you had to at least try. You wanted to look back and at least say you tried. It was the right thing to do…right?
Sleep barely found you, and you tossed and turned most of the night.
As precarious as you wanted to claim your future was, it really wasn’t. There was really only one clear path, and you hated it. The events of yesterday didn’t even feel real, and yet, they were. Your parents knew about your relationship with Rafe, and they knew you were pregnant, and instead of the horrifying truth, Rafe had painted you both out to be some lovesick teenagers who just got too caught up in the whirlwind of it all.
Your dad hadn’t even said a word to you since yesterday, only your mom asking how you slept and if you’d eaten. It wasn’t unusual for her to ask those things, but you both knew there was a hidden meaning behind it. You hated the way she gazed at you, like you were precious, in a delicate position.
Like you were eating for two, now.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” she finally asked long after breakfast was over.
You both were sitting on the couch, and you stared at the wall as her gaze rested on you. You wanted to tell her it was because you’d only just found out yourself, but even revealing just how partially sinister Rafe was would come back to bite. If your parents knew the truth, they’d try to kill Rafe or throw him under the jail in a heartbeat, and Rafe was right about a lot of things lately, but especially when he’d said that Ward wasn’t going to let you smear the Cameron name.
Even if it was all true.
“I was scared, I guess.”
It wasn’t a lie.
You were scared. You never wanted your parents to know about any of this, to look at you with the disappointment they’d worn yesterday. You went to the fancy private school. You had the grades for scholarships and to get into any college you wanted. You didn’t stay in trouble like Pope. No, this wasn’t supposed to happen to you.
“Rafe sure does seem to care about you, a lot…” you closed your eyes at that. “…and he seems to really care about this baby too.”
You didn’t know what Rafe was.
He claimed to love you, but that hadn’t stopped him from hurting you in more ways than one. He claimed to care about this baby, but already he’d brought it up as an excuse to hurt you if need be. Rafe just didn’t like losing. At least, that’s what you thought, but even the sorest of losers wouldn’t go so far as to propose marriage. You really didn’t know what Rafe was, but determined to keep you was evident more than anything else.
…and you didn’t even know why.
“He’s so young, just like you, but he seemed very sincere when he talked about wanting to marry you.”
You swallowed at that.
“Do you want to marry him?”
That question didn’t require any thought.
Of course, you didn’t want to marry Rafe. You didn’t even want to be near him, but you kept that to yourself, merely shrugging. Your mom sighed, and you could see that she was trying to be gentle about all of this as opposed to your dad who could barely look at you.
“You do want this baby…right? Rafe definitely made it seem like you did, but I realized that I never got the chance to ask you.”
“I don’t know,” you quietly told her.
Deep down, that was the truth.
Like before, you didn’t want to get rid of it, but also like before, you knew that you needed to. If you ever wanted a chance at a life away from Rafe, you needed to, but you knew there was no chance of you getting to Charlotte without Rafe stopping you before you even made it on the Ferry.
“Well…that’s okay,” she relented, patting your leg. “You still have some time to think about it and talk it over with Rafe.”
You resisted the urge to huff at that, hating that your mom was so privy to this part of your life that you didn’t want anyone to know about. Hearing her talk about you and Rafe like some couple made your stomach turn, and you licked your lips as she continued.
“Just in case you’re…worried about what your dad and I might think, I want you to know that I’ll be happy with whatever you decide…”
You looked at her at that, and your shoulders dropped. The smile she sent you was comforting, but tight.
“…so, you should do what you feel is right, regardless of how you think it’ll make us feel.”
You could see the glimmer in her eyes, the hope on her face. Your mom was saying all the right things, but anyone could tell that she wanted you to keep this baby, no matter how much she tried to hide it. You didn’t even have the strength to tell her that because of Rafe, she’d probably get exactly what she wanted.
Tumblr media
“Maybe…maybe we can get you to Charlotte again. Or maybe there’s someone on Outer Banks who…”
Pope trailed off as you lifted your head, looking at him with a blank face. It had been days since you’d been ambushed by Rafe and his dad, your dad still wasn’t talking to you, and Pope… Pope was desperately trying to come up with anything to get you out of this situation. You were still waiting for the other shoe to drop where he realized just how you became pregnant again.
After all, it happened after the day Pope learned the truth, and in this whole madness, his mind wasn’t letting him linger on the elephant in the room.
“You have to do something.”
“For what? For Rafe to stop me? Get mad at me again? Take it out on you again—or dad?”
You shrugged, finally feeling…defeated, and you could tell that it was written all over your face. Rafe had gotten to you because he was right. The only chance you had was to get off this island and never come back, and that just wasn’t practical. You were eighteen and pregnant with no credit, no savings, and no means of surviving away from your family. Even if they helped you out, it was just another way Rafe could find you and drag you back, and you didn’t need your family feeling any worse than they already did.
Especially Pope.
Besides, you hated Rafe, but you loved your family more than you could ever hate him, and you’d miss them too much. Even just the thought of trying to make it without them and with minimal contact was enough to make your throat tight. Rafe had you well and truly stuck, and as much as you didn’t want him to be right, he was.
Anything you did would just prolong the inevitable.
…and that’s how you found yourself in Bunny’s car on the way to the Cameron residence. You’d told your parents where you were going, and your mom had swallowed down her obvious curiosity while your dad had simply nodded. He still hadn’t spoken a word to you, and you tried not to take it personal, knowing how much this was to process even without the details only you knew about.
You found your hatred of Rafe bubbling to the surface at that.
Rafe’s inability to keep your relationship perils between you two was infuriating. First, he brought Pope into it, and now his dad and your parents. Maybe that was why he kept getting the upper hand because between the two of you, you were the only one who felt you had something to hide. Rafe had wanted the relationship out and in the open from the beginning, and you never foresaw your desire for secrecy being used against you one day.
Bunny was definitely curious as she dropped you off, and you ignored the questions in her eyes, only telling her you needed to talk to Rafe about something. It definitely wasn’t a lie, but the something in question was a pretty big something that you were choosing to leave out. You sighed to yourself as she drove off, thankful that Pope hadn’t been home when you left. Your brother would’ve happily tied you down to keep you from going to see Rafe alone.
The smile that Rose gave you when she opened the door told you that she knew.
You swallowed.
“Is Rafe home?”
His truck was in the yard, but that didn’t necessarily mean anything.
“Yeah, sweetheart,” she sweetly said, gently rubbing your back as she ushered you inside. “He’s just upstairs but let me go and get him.”
As she made her way upstairs, you decided that you hated this already. She’d looked at you like you were some miracle sent from God to tame her demented stepson. She’d looked at you like some saving grace, and you didn’t need to be a mind reader to know she viewed you as an extension of Rafe in some way. Now that you were carrying his child, you belonged to him in their eyes, and the thought made you sick…because it wasn’t entirely untrue.
Movement at the top of the stairs drew your attention, and you absentmindedly took a step back at the sight of Rafe. You kept your eyes on him as he descended, and that smug curve of his lips was almost enough to make you flip him off and leave with no intentions of ever coming back. You faintly took note of Ward standing near the stairs as Rafe approached, but it was hard to focus on him.
Rafe had a way of stealing all of your attention, both the good and the bad.
Neither of you said a word as he walked outside, you following close behind. You were somewhat nervous as you followed him to the dock, recalling the last time you were with him near water. Rafe seemed to read our thoughts as he eyed the way you lingered on the grass, and you took a deep breath, glancing away.
“I don’t want to be with you,” you finally said. “I figured I’d make that clear up front.”
That obviously wasn’t what Rafe wanted to hear if the way he frowned indicated anything.
“You’re not good for me, and you’ve done too much to even consider moving past it all, and you know what else?” you licked your lips. “I don’t want you around this baby.”
Rafe shifted at that, glancing away, and you watched the sunlight glint off of his blue eyes.
“It’s not fair that you can do everything you’ve done, and still get it all. Everything you want. I hate it,” you choked out. “It sucks that you can hurt me over and over again and still have the right to call this baby yours, raise it with me, be in it’s life…and all because of who your dad is.”
He wouldn’t look at you, and you blinked back tears, struggling to swallow.
“It really fucking sucks…but there isn’t anything I can do about it,” you whispered, folding your arms over your chest just as he looked at you. “So, tell me what you want…”
“Besides you?”
“You’re not getting me,” you sneered. “I can’t keep you away from this baby, and so I can’t keep you out of my life, but we are nothing.”
Rafe smirked at that, and you glared at him, stepping closer.
“I’m serious, Rafe. You got what you wanted—me pregnant and tied to you forever, but that doesn’t mean anything when it comes to us. You’re it’s father, and that’s it,” you explained with a shrug.
Rafe slowly nodded, softly chuckling to himself, and it made you grind your teeth.
“We’ll see,” was all he said, and you didn’t know why that made you angrier than anything else, right now.
You pressed your lips together, angrily shaking your head at him.
“Fuck you,” you breathed. “You did a shitty thing, you know that?”
He didn’t respond, and you continued.
“My own dad can’t even look at me,” you tearfully confessed. “They never expected this from me, so does that make you feel good? Huh? Do you like that you just completely screwed me over?”
“Well,” he slowly started. “Maybe it’s a good thing you won’t be there much, anyway.”
You frowned at that, pausing as you blinked at him.
“What…what are you talking about?”
Rafe moved towards you, and you were frozen with confusion, studying his face as he reached up to brush his fingers across his mouth. His blue eyes drank you in with a small smile.
“You’re pregnant, beautiful,” he said as if that explained it all. “You need the right foods, the right vitamins, the proper care.”
You swallowed.
“You’ll need regular check-ups and constant looking after that your parents can’t give you because they both work, and I’d die before I trust your brother to make sure this baby is born healthy.”
Your lips parted, and you sharply inhaled. Rafe swiped his tongue between his lips, reaching up to gently touch your face.
“I’m a lot of things, but I won’t be a deadbeat. I’m going to be there for every moment of this pregnancy, and it’s either I come live with you, or you come live with me. Everyone involved knows what the obvious answer is,” he paused, letting out a breath. “Everyone except you apparently.”
You slapped his hand away, feeling like you’d been sucker punched.
“Rose and I don’t work…not yet, anyway,” he chuckled, and you didn’t linger on what that meant. “…and we have so much space here. You need to be in a place where you can be comfortable, and once my dad is finished with your parents, they’ll see it that way too.”
Tears finally spilled over, and you stumbled away from him.
“…and as for us,” his fingers grazed your neck. “We’ll see how long that lasts.”
His soft voice reached your ears, and Rafe pressed his nose to your hair, deeply inhaling.
“I hear those pregnancy hormones can be a bitch to cope with without some…help.”
You pushed him away, and the sound of his laugh filled your ears as you stumbled back to the house.

Ahhhh that Jason fic was so good! I loved how you write him so stern and caring!
I was wondering if you could do another Jason fic where reader is sort of working herself weary, maybe she feels like she has something to prove especially with how powerful everyone is so she’s been volunteering for watches and missions and helping hedge and just everything she can around the ship and she starts to crack a bit so everyone tries to get her to take a break but she’s super stubborn and no one can except Jason on like his third try she finally gives in and rests?
(Like when he told Hazel to eat in your last fic, sort of that vibe it makes me weak in the knees!)
pairing: jason x gf!ares!reader
summary: Jason notices you're overworking yourself again, and despite him and everyone on the Argo II trying to tell you to take a break, you never really sit your ass down until he finally convinces you to do so.
genre: angst/comfort
wc: 2.6k
warning/s: cursing, fem reader, she/her pronouns, overworking, jason being stern, stubborn reader, mmm godly father issues, breakdown
note: thank you for your request anon!! i hope it's fine that i made this one kind of a continuation of this oneshot, but it can be read seperately. enjoy!
oneshot under the cut :: not edited
Tumblr media
Jason always admired your hard work and determination.
Sure, you were constantly aggressive about it and telling everyone to fuck off if they complimented you on that, he still considered it one of the countless things that he loved about you.
But of course, there were times where that hard work and determination would lead to something unmanageable, like your tendency to overwork yourself.
You were an expert at hiding it, but Jason knew that beneath your tough and angry exterior, you always felt like you weren't giving enough despite giving a little too much already. You were a daughter of Ares, and your godly lineage didn't grant you much except for anger issues.
You weren't as good with weapons as your siblings. You definitely weren't as good at anything as Clarisse, your half-sister and your dad's favorite kid. Actually, all your other brothers and sisters had at least some sign that Ares acknowledged their existence. You on the other hand got nothing except that you could reach your boiling point seven times faster than the average person.
They have to thank Jason for being there to calm you down, because they all don't just feel like, but they know that if he wasn't with them, the ship would have sunk two days in the water or air.
They never really expected you to be the type to give all — and I mean, all your energy into whatever you need to do.
Replacing the ripped sails after a battle with some pirates? Step back. If not, you'd just push any one of them out of the way and grab the new sails from them and replace it on your own. Frank was a constant victim, despite being the burliest of them.
A large tentacle wrapped around the ship? They don't dare to think about chopping it into pieces before you came in, sword weaving through the monster like it was made of clay. Percy steps out from below decks to give the monster a little chat but slips on the blood it left in its wake.
Zeus/Jupiter decided to fuck around with them and send a lightning bolt striking almost right beside Percy? You'd immediately push him into the nearest demigod's arms and put out the fire yourself before the water boy could even process what was happening.
Even the simplest tasks around the Argo II, like cleaning the stables, rearranging the medbay, cleaning up the kitchen either after a meal or after the ship was constantly swaying and made a mess of fallen plates and food, you'd curse someone out just for trying to grab a broom or open their mouth to tell you that they can do it instead.
Jason was no exception to this treatment, and he didn't expect to be; he just wanted to make sure that you knew your limits as well as he did.
"You're low on medical equipment," Hedge grunted, stepping into the small dining room one afternoon while everyone was eating lunch. "I'm gonna go restock it."
Today was a slow day for the eight demigods, and they were grateful for it. All they had to do was the usual chores before they could chill anywhere on the ship.
Which is why no one was surprised you were the one who wanted to break the mundane routine. "I'll go with you," you huffed, standing up with your plate in your hands, maneuvering around the short half goat man to put the dirty dish in the sink. "I'll make sure your stupid fur brains doesn't get the wrong shit."
"Us satyrs are damn good healers, mind you!" Hedge bleated angrily.
You rolled your eyes. "Yeah with colored leaves and rituals and shit."
Before Hedge could retaliate, Annabeth stepped into the conversation. "You should rest today. I can go with Hedge and help him pick out the right items."
"No need, Brains," You shot her down. "I can do this. Are you suggesting otherwise?" Your voice raised threateningly, making Annabeth raise her hands in surrender.
"No, but I —"
"Good." You turned back to Hedge. "Let's go before you get more dirt on floor I just mopped, old man."
You left the room without waiting for the satyr to follow. Hedge muttered colorful insults under his breath, moving to exit the dining as well before Jason stopped him by asking, "Coach, can you watch over her? She's been working constantly these past few weeks, and she hasn't really caught a break."
Hedge rose an eyebrow. "Can't you do that yourself? Aren't you her boyfriend or something?"
"I tried, but it's hard to convince her," Jason sighed, leaning back in his chair exhaustedly. "Just — look out for her, yeah? And don't tell her I told you."
"Yeah, yeah, I know," Hedge waved him off. "It'll be my head."
The coach left without another word.
"I'm worried about her," Percy confessed, Frank and Piper nodding in agreement. "I tried asking her if she needed help yesterday, and she almost bit my head off."
"And you would've thought that she'd learn by now to stop herself when she starts to overwork again," Leo commented.
Hazel sighed. "If she doesn't give herself time to recharge, she's going to shut down."
Jason simply played around with his leftover food, deep in thought. "Yeah..."
—————
Thank the gods you returned without any issues besides the usual profanities exchanged between you and Hedge. He left soon after that, claiming that he had "business elsewhere," and said that they should get going on their journey without him.
They left the day after that. They knew he'd make his way back to camp eventually.
The streak of calm continued, even as the Argo II departed from the sea and launched into the air. There weren't as much monsters that showed up to annoy them like flies hovering in their ears.
You and Jason were on watch that night. Thankfully, there wasn't much of a threat in the clouds, so Jason just sat down on a random crate while you paced around, playing with the straps of your leather breastplate.
"Hey, you can sit down for a while," Jason said, watching you go to and from the large wooden post in the middle.
You scowled at him in response. "We're supposed to be on watch. If we relax, we fall asleep. If we fall asleep, monsters attack. If monsters attack, the others could get swept up in that shit knowing how stupid they are."
Your concern for your other crewmates was evident despite how much you tried to hide it by insulting their abilities.
"Sweetheart, its okay," Jason said, still trying to convince you. He wasn't feeling all that tired, which is why he could cover for the both of you. You, on the other hand, looked like you were going insane, the dark half-circles under your eyes apparent even in the weak and diluted moonlight. "You can for now. I promise I'll wake —"
"I can't rest!" Your voice cracked slightly as you whipped around to face him, your eyes wide with a wildness that caught Jason off guard and made him stand up in concern. "I... I just can't..."
You tried to walk away, but your knees collapsed from below you. "Woah careful!"
In a flash, your boyfriend was by your side, barely being able to catch you before you could fully crumple to the ground. "Easy, easy..."
He tried to put your arm around his shoulders so he could lead you to sit down on another crate, but you pushed yourself away from him. Being unable to support yourself, you fell down on your ass.
"What are you doing?" Jason asked, moving to approach you, but you put up your hand to stop him.
"Fuck off, I don't need help," you said, trying to sound angry, but all Jason could hear was your exhaustion.
"Hey, stop being stubborn," Jason frowned, stepping towards you and putting your arm around his shoulders successfully this time, despite your protests and your struggles to get out of his iron grip.
"Fine, just — just put me down there," You gestured to the crate he was sitting on previously. He was originally going to bring you down to your room, but judging from the glance you gave him from the corner of your eye, you could still snap his arm in half if you wanted to.
And so, he obliged, making sure that your feet barely touched the ground as he basically carried you to your destination. He gently set you on the crate, making sure to stand close in front of you so that you wouldn't try to bolt.
"Explain," he said, crossing his arms and peering down at you. You turned your head away from his gaze, and he realized how vulnerable you looked: your eyes were darting around in a desperate attempt to stay alert, but they constantly glazed over, unfocused. Your hands were now fiddling with the strings of your hoodie, their movements slow and groggy. Your upper body was even swaying.
"I..." You started, but sighed and looked up at him. "It's stupid."
Jason's brows furrowed even more at your dismissal. "You almost collapsed from exhaustion. There has to be at least a valid reason for you to compromise your health like that."
You wanted to clamp your jaw shut, but Jason's intense glare made you open your mouth and speak. "You want to know? Fine, I'll tell you. Everyone relies on me — besides Twitchy Fingers — to do what is needed to keep this ship afloat by making sure it doesn't get completely destroyed by the Tartarus-spawn. Every time someone tries to do my job for me, I don't want them to because what if they fuck up and something bad happens? That's gonna be my fuck-up too. I —" You looked away again. "I just can't relax knowing that some bad shit might happen and it'll be my fault."
"I think you're underestimating how well the rest of us can do," Jason said lightly, chuckling a little as he tried to make lift the atmosphere up a little. It didn't work. "We can't do as well as you, of course, but we can manage."
"Oh please, I know damn well how good the rest of you are," You hissed, catching Jason off guard with the anger behind your words. "You all got your own skill sets that your godly parents planted in you that you got to fucking nurture. Even Annabeth, who doesn't have any actual powers, is more of a smartass than all of us combined."
Jason opened his mouth to retaliate, to say that you're downgrading yourself too much, but you didn't let him speak as your voice rose. "And what in the Tartarus did I get from my shitty dad? Fuckin' — fuckin' anger issues, that's what I got. Everything I'm good at — my fighting, my speed, everything — I did that. Ares gave me none of that. That was all me.
"And the moment I thought he'd actually look at me, that he'd acknowledge that I was his kid besides when he claimed me seven months after I came into camp," Your voice got louder still, cracking a little as your eyes got mistier, "is to pay a little visit to Frank in his Roman counterpart."
You stood up now, your body fueled with anger and frustration and other emotions that can't be described. "You wanna know the real reason why I work myself to the brink of exhaustion every time I do what I do, Jason?" Your smile looked maniacal. The few tears that escaped the confines of your lashes didn't really help. "It's because I don't fucking deserve to stand among you. I don't deserve to be on this quest. I don't deserve to be called a 'hero' when we return home as your godly parents shower you with love and attention while mine just thinks 'oh, my kid survived? I had a kid involved?'"
Your body was shaking, but you were done. You fell back down on the crate, holding your head in your hands.
Jason blinked, processing your breakdown. His own chest was contracting painfully as the weight of your words settled in his brain and his heart.
You were feeling this the entire time? Why didn't you say anything?
Your body flinched as you tried to contain a sob, snapping Jason back to reality.
He sat down beside you and wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you close to him. "Oh sweetheart," he sighed sympathetically. "It's okay to cry. Cry as hard as you need."
Jason expected you to push him off of you again, to tell him to not be stupid and to try and bottle your emotions up again. He hoped you wouldn't.
And you didn't. Instead. you took your face out of your hands and planted it on his shoulder, your own shoulder shaking terribly from your suppressed sobs. "Let it out," he cooed, and you didn't hesitate to drown your sobs on the fabric of his t-shirt, subconsciously moving even closer to his body.
He wrapped both his arms around you as he fixed his position, his upper body now almost fully facing you to give you more comforting hug.
He stroked the back of your head and whispered sweet nothings into your ear as you let all your pent-up anger, frustration, disappointment, and just overall sadness. He even planted light kisses over the parts of you that he could reach; your neck, cheek, temple, crown.
It took you a little while for your sobs to turn into little hiccups, but eventually, you were able to calm down. Jason didn't mind that his shoulder was soaked from your tears. He didn't mind that his spine was stiff from being in a slightly uncomfortable position for a period of time. He didn't mind that you were feeling weak and stupid.
Because even after all that, he still saw you as the strongest and most powerful person he knew.
"What about we go back to my room and rest?" Jason suggested softly. You lifted your head in protest, but Jason pushed it back down to his chest. "I'm sure Hazel and Frank are having trouble sleeping from the good nap they had earlier. They can cover for us."
"I don't want to burden them," You said weakly.
Jason immediately shook his head. "You're a burden to no one on this ship, okay? They won't mind. And besides, it's not weak to ask for a little help once in a while. No one thinks you're weak."
You looked up at him. "You sure?"
Jason nodded, smiling softly. "Absolutely. From what I can see, you're the strongest person here."
You raise an eyebrow. "You sure there's no bias there?"
"Yes I'm 100% sure," Jason said seriously, before breaking into a smile when a breathy laugh escaped your lips. You don't do it often, but Jason loved your laughs. They were always genuine, and Jason would do anything to make you laugh again.
"So, what do you say? Let's go to my dorm," Jason said, supporting you when he felt you moving to stand up.
"You better not do anything weird to me, Grace," you threatened, but there was no heat behind your words.
Jason smiled softly, leading you back below decks. "Never."
He left you in the dorm before he went to convince Hazel and Frank to cover their shift, promising that he'll make up for it. They didn't care. They were just happy that you were finally resting.
Once the blonde boy returned, he found that you were already curled up under the sheets, face relaxed and breaths coming out of you evenly. His eyes softened fondly at your peaceful and stress-free features.
He flipped the light switches, blanketing his room in darkness as he navigated under the sheets to join you. He gathered you up in his arms and curled against you, sighing in content.
"Good night, sweetheart," he whispered against your head, placing a small kiss on the back of it as he felt sleep slowly invade his vision. "I love you."

A/N: This is the prologue to my first writing “Mi Luz” with Javi and reader. There's some context and then a dirty ending…if I have misspelled anything or whatever please tell me omg
You were carrying your box of personal items, ready for your job to start. Did you know any Spanish? No. Did you know anyone that you were working with? No. But…they had recruited you for your organization and for your ability to remember things, and that alone gave you some confidence that you didn’t originally have.
Your first day would have gone off without any issues if you hadn’t bumped into the first person you saw as soon as you entered the building. It was the damn heels you thought you had to wear, but after today you would make the argument that you were more efficient without them. No one was hurt, but you were startled, and as you went to apologize a gruff voice said “watch it.”, which you would come to find out later was Peña. You scoffed, and continued on to your office that you had been shown the previous day. That must have been the only time you would see him…right? The embassy was big, and for all you knew, you would never see him again.
Tumblr media
You had never yelled at anyone before-not like this. Sure, maybe at your younger sister when she stole something from your room, or at your dad when he had drank too much and hurt your mom, but you really truly weren’t like this. You were infuriated beyond measure, to the point of almost crying. And you knew plenty of people who cried when they were angry, but you weren’t one of them. You stood your ground, said your piece, and it would end there-someone would be declared a winner. Even when they tried to stoop low and make you hurt, say things that normal people wouldn’t say, you never lost your cool.
But fighting with Peña was different. He was in your space, fucking around with your files when you had gone on lunch, and now you were screaming at each other. He was stooping lower than anyone else you had ever met, grinding every gear and just getting under your skin. Couldn’t he leave well enough alone?
Peña didn’t know how it started at all-he had come in here to ask you a question and you were missing. He waited 10 minutes exactly, until 1 pm when lunch ended for administrative staff, and when you didn’t return he started rifling through what he assumed would give him answers. Of course, it didn’t, and so he started opening more boxes.
He didn’t hear you come in, because unlike the other girls in the office you wore either flats or tennis shoes. He teased you about it, seeing as it was not considered protocol, but you didn’t like it when he spoke to you and he didn’t necessarily get why.
And now you were screaming at him and he was matching your energy. He needed intel and you weren’t here, what was he supposed to do? Let them get away?
You were arguing that he could have fucking called you, or had gone to the cafeteria where you had your lunch. But how the hell was he supposed to know that? Was he supposed to crawl around on his knees and wander around and beg you to help?
He could see the fire behind your eyes, almost as if you were blacking out this argument, and it only fueled him more. You wanted to be angry? He could be just as angry.
And when Murphy came in to break it up, Peña was pushed out of the room and heard muffled sobs. Man, had he really been that aggressive? But you started it! He could hear Murphy cooing at you to calm you down, telling you that Peña was wrong to speak to you that way. He was asking you what Peña had asked you-for the exact same intel. The way that you blindly gave it to Murphy so that only a few minutes later that blonde-headed asshole came out into the hallway to shake his head at Peña and shove the file in his chest, made Peña wonder what your deal was.
Tumblr media
Today was rough on multiple levels. Everything was out of place,  Peña and Murphy needed way more intel than you could provide, and to top it all off they had caught one of Escobar's closest henchmen.
Your hair was starting to frizz. The door to the embassy and into the office and therefore into your basement back room had been opened so many times that the humidity felt like it was drowning you. You picked your shirt off your chest, trying to create some airflow as you exited the bathroom directly across from the archives.
Bumping into Peña was always a hassle, just like the first time. Today it had been happening over and over because of how much information he needed, but in general, you avoided him. Murphy was nicer, smoother with talking to women since he actually had a wife, but blunt enough that he didn't waste time.  Peña on the other hand...
You could see why the girls in the office liked him-his jaw, the puppy dog eyes he used when he wanted something...but that was all he had. And he didn’t use the puppy dog eyes on you. Speaking to him wasn't typically pleasant, and you came to find out by listening to the men in the office that he really only paid for sex. It would explain why when he was talking to women in the office he relied on his eyes and talked lowly rather than with any charisma. You were thankful that he didn’t find it worth his time to try his hand at seducing you.
When he bumped into you again as you exited the bathroom, you had to hold your tongue. Was it really that difficult to see where he was going? "We got 'em." He said breathlessly, a small smirk coming to his lips as he looked at you shaking your shirt for some sort of cool air.
"Oh, that's great." You were sure you sounded monotone, but after the length of this day you didn't really care to be polite.
"It's uh...it's because of your archives of previous intel." He stated, wiping his forehead with the back of his hand. "Why is it so damn hot in here?"
"People keep opening the door and letting out my cold basement air." You grumbled. It sounded like  Peña was trying to thank you for helping, but you weren't going to assume that. If he wanted to thank you, then he would, but since he hadn’t ever before, you doubted it.
Peña's lips ticked up in the corner again. "Murphy sent me to invite you out for drinks with the rest of the office since it was because of you." He breathed, placing his hands on his hips.
You glanced at his shirt that seemed to have no buttons working, practically open to his navel with sweat covering his throat and collarbones. Eyes shooting back up to his face seeing his smirk deepening, you thought that maybe this was why others in the office swooned-that damn smirk.
"I appreciate it, but I am not sure I am going to go." You sighed, moving away from him and going back to the archives room where the air was still damp but cooler. He followed you, tilting his head as he held open the door. "Either come in or don't  Peña, stop holding open the door."
"You really want me to disappoint Murphy? And his wife?" Peña saw you eye him, and it was the first time he ever caught you. Maybe your walls were starting to come down after the year and a half you had worked with him and Murphy, and maybe he could get you to open up like Murphy got you to. In a way he was jealous that Murphy and his wife had such a good relationship with you-but he didn’t try too hard either.
"I'm not sure that is all that new  Peña." You smirked, picking up files that had been used today and placing them back on their appropriate shelf.
Peña scoffed at your dig at him. You were starting to make jokes at his expense, which he assumed was a good sign. He knew how tidy you kept this room, knowing every piece of information down to the letter and where it belonged. Most of the time Murphy would ask you a question regarding a member of the cartel and you could rattle off the answer before providing the file as proof. It was like you were their own personal library that they could press a button and the answers would appear.
He realized now that it was why you had gotten so upset with him and had a screaming match with him all those months ago. He never apologized to you, and just let Murphy do the talking.
But you were always sharp-tongued with  Peña. Murphy joked that you preferred blondes over brunettes, but  Peña saw the way you looked at him just now, and noted that it probably wasn’t the first time. It was like you wanted to know more, but wasn't willing to because of how much you hated him. Maybe you wanted to keep your job secure and not risk a hate fuck-others in the office weren't too worried about their job. He never had to work hard to get someone to fuck him. And if in the case that no one wanted to, he would go find "intel" of his own and pay for it, which typically meant he had to talk to you the next day to update you on a file or add information to one.
He could see your jaw ticking every time he came in the next day, smelling slightly of another girl's perfume as you noted down the information he gathered. Always silent, staring at his chin or his neck instead of his eyes. He didn't know how to win you over, but upsetting you was sometimes just as good.
He sighed, closing the door behind him as he walked away. He wasn't really keen on going to this celebration either. It was unusually hot today, and it wasn't like they caught Escobar himself. Sure, it was someone close to him, but he didn't want to celebrate too soon. The only way he was planning on going was if you were, if not to just annoy you and watch how you were when you relaxed.
He heard stories from the girls that would gather around a desk at lunchtime to chat about their weekend, and he knew that you could have a good time. He had just yet to see it. And he wanted to-desperately.
Tumblr media
A deep sigh left your lips as you shut the archives door behind you, locking it and sliding the key into your purse. Somehow you had become the key holder, and you didn't mind it. You stayed later, and didn't trust one of the other workers to not mess up the organization system you had carefully crafted for the embassy.
Trudging up the stairs and breaking a sweat as a wave of heat hit your face, you glanced over to the pit-where all the officers desks were-and saw most of the lights off. Only one remained, cigarette in the air almost to it's end.  Peña's eyes shot up to yours, seeing that you were watching him. "Heading to the bar?"
You scoffed, shaking your head and walking towards the front door. "No, I am going to go home and take a cold shower."
"Wait-"  Peña put out the cigarette and quickly stood up, grabbing his jacket that had his keys in it. "I'll walk you out."
"You don't need to do that, I am typically here alone when leave anyways." Him asking to walk you out stopped you in your tracks. You couldn't tell if he had ulterior motives or if he was just being polite. Why was he all of a sudden being nice to you?
"I'm heading home too." He laughed, walking up to your side and pausing with you. "It's not as sweet of a victory until Escobar goes down."
You nodded, motioning to the door and beginning your trek to your car. It wasn't a long walk, but it was likely to be hot and you would need to take a few breaks. You didn't get the front parking spot typically, seeing as you worked in archives and weren't leaving during the day like the agents were. It made you thankful that you made the switch to sneakers early on, and didn’t have sores on the back of your feet like some of the ladies.
Peña walked beside you, slowing his stride enough to see which direction you were headed. His car was parked up front, now next to empty spots but typically next to Murphy's. "Where is your car?"
He followed your point, seeing that you were going to walk around 10 minutes uphill before you would reach your car. "I don't get VIP parking Peña." You laughed-he had never heard you laugh. He watched you start to walk away, giving the smallest of waves and he knew that something in the air was different tonight. He wanted to hear you laugh again.
"Let me drive you over there then." He blurted, stomping out his cigarette and placing his sunglasses on his face. He wanted you to say yes, and he felt like he could persuade you easily.
His offer surprised you, making you turn around and look at him. "What? No, it's fine." The sun was at the wrong angle and you had to shade your eyes, seeing his pink shirt had slight sweat marks on the collar.
He smirked, pointing his thumb at his Jeep. "I have air conditioning, and that way you don’t have to sweat the whole way over."
He knew he had you willing when you stood stock still and tilted your head, looking at his car. It was a tempting offer…
And you didn’t say anything besides walk carefully over to the passenger side of his car. He was still shocked, having to move quickly to unlock it so that you didn’t change your mind last minute. He slid into his seat, immediately starting the engine and blasting the air to get it
moving.
You both sat in his car for a couple minutes, staring at his radio as he changed the channel until he found something he liked while the air began to cool down and you could feel yourself start to relax. The air felt nice, and his car was much quicker than yours at making the air cool. “Is your car new?”
He glanced at you, leaning back in his seat. “It’s a couple years old, but yeah I bought it new.” He took in how you leaned back, the air making your shirt move in its gusts against your chest, and how your hands weren’t clutching your bag so tight. “Do you make that walk every day?”
You nodded, laughing lightly again. “I already told you-I’m just archives Peña, I don’t get special treatment like you and Steve.”
Not only did you laugh but he heard how you called Murphy by his first name and it irritated him. Had he really not gotten to know you that much? “You can call me by my first name too, you know.”
You scoffed, shifting in your seat and crossing your arms. “I don’t know you well enough Peña, to be calling you anything besides that.”
He forgot why he was irritated, because how you crossed your arms made your chest look…amazing. He knew he was staring too long, but in a way he wanted you to know that he found you attractive, especially since you and him didn’t seem to get along. Maybe you would be sweeter on him if you knew he found you physically attractive.
“Eyes up here asshole.” You snapped, rolling your eyes and sitting back straight. “Are you going to drive me to my car or what?”
Well…that didn’t work. “Yeah I’ll drive you over.” He mumbled, wondering how he could get under your skin without starting a screaming match. “You just…that shirt is really nice.” He rolled his eyes at himself-that was lame as hell.
But he got to hear you laugh again, and while he didn’t understand you, he liked hearing you happy. It made him feel like jell-o on the inside, and it was an ego boost to have you smiling because of him after so long of you not. “I think you were just looking at my tits, Peña.”
That made him choke and cough a little. “You have a mouth on you?” He let out an exasperated laugh, pulling up to your lonesome car and parking beside it so you could get out and slide into your drivers seat.
“I’m surprised you thought I didn’t.”
“I wouldn’t mind seeing more of what it could do.”
That was bold. You had never heard him be so bluntly flirty, seeing as any time you over heard him trying to pick up one of the office workers it was much more “want to go to the bathroom with me?” which didn’t sound like an appealing come on. You blinked at him, both of you exchanging looks for what felt like minutes.
He knew he fucked up. Somehow he let the thought slip out of his mouth and now he was holding his breath for your reaction. He meant to say something stupid to see you laugh again, but instead came out this vulgar come on that wasn’t untrue, but not what he intended. “Um-I’m sorry I didn’t…it just slipped out.”
You glanced back down to his neck, watching his pulse pick up speed and how even with the cold air in his car it was still slick with sweat. He was nervous, and for some reason that was endearing to you. “I can do a few things…with my mouth.”
His eyes widened glancing to your eyes and then your lips and then your chest. Was he asleep at his desk? Did he fall asleep on the drive home? Was he drunk? “Yeah? Like what?” God he was pushing the limits right now.
And suddenly you reach out and grabbed the back of his head and licked up his neck from his collarbone to his jaw. And the obscene sound that left his mouth spurred you on to do it again but end with biting his ear.
Peña was losing his mind. There was no way this was real. He reached out and grabbed the back of your head, pulling on your hair to detach you from his ear. You hissed, pushing back on his hand. “You want this? Here?”
You suddenly knew why the girls swooned for him. When he was in the moment with you, the breathlessness of his words, the timber of his voice made you buzz in his seat. With the cool air still blowing, the sun setting behind the building you both worked in, you nodded your head. “I could use a destress. Is that okay?”
He had to stop himself from exploding on the spot. You wanted to fuck him? Use him as your toy to unwind from the stressfulness of the job? He was on board for that. He pulled away from you, removing his hand from your head, killing the engine and getting out of the car quickly.  He walked around to the passenger side, opening your door and almost pulling you out too hard. “Get in the back seat.”
You felt yourself get wet, hopping into the back seat with his hand on your ass as he followed you in. The idea of fucking Peña had crossed your mind a few times, but you weren’t going to act on them until today when he said those words to you. No one had to know, right?
You flipped around as he grabbed your legs to slot himself between your thighs, pressing his erection to your center and pulling your skirt up. He leaned down to your neck and gave it the same treatment you gave his, biting your jaw at the end. “Fuck, I’ve been wanting you.” He groaned, palming the part of your ass that hung over his seat, kissing at your collar bone like his life depended on it. “What do you want baby? This is your chance to unwind, remember?”
You sighed, eye going skyward as he spoke to you. This is what you wanted after all. He was annoying as hell in the office but right now you needed him. You grabbed his hair and pulling him up to be eye level with you. “Sit up, Peña.”
He scrambled off of you, sitting up and guiding your hips to his and pulling you down so you could feel the friction of his jeans against your center. His hands reached forward to your chest, palming you and untucking your shirt from your skirt. “Fuck-”
The speed at which you unbuttoned his jeans and pulled his cock out was impressive. And what was more impressive was how quickly you sunk down on to him, pulling your panties to the side and letting him fill you to the hilt. He groaned, shocked at how quickly you sat on him, holding still and reaching around to your back to keep you steady.
His mouth was open, sweat was dripping down his hairline as the back of your shirt was becoming see through with the heat. When he got out of the car and demanding you go to the back he had turned off the engine, and now it was like you were in a sauna. But somehow it made it better, because as you started to move Peña’s eyes closed in bliss.
You leaned your head back, wrapping your arms around the front seats as leverage as you moved up and down on him.  Peña didn’t know if he wanted to lean back and watch you do the work or if he wanted to lean forward and lick your nipples, pull your hair, maybe thumb your clit. “You’re beautiful like this cariño.”
You moaned, opening your eyes to see him in awe of your body still covered. “We can only do this once, Peña.”
He grabbed your hip, halting your movements as he began to thrust upward and do the work. “Javier is just fine darlin’.” He pistoned into you, suddenly angry at how you wanted to keep this casual. Were you not absolutely infatuated like he was? The minute you let him touch you was like a reset in his brain-there was no way anyone else would fill his needs like you could. And the way you sat on his cock? And how he fit so snugly inside you? He refused to believe you didn’t feel it too. “We can see about this being only once baby-I think you’ll be too cock hungry, huh? Would you want to ride me again?”
You bit your lip and closed your eyes again, knuckles going white as your fingers sunk farther in to the seats. A light whimper escaped you, making Peña’s thrusts falter slightly, but he regained his rhythm and grabbed one of your arms to place your fingers on your clit. The way he spoke to you made you want to say yes, please but you held back.
“I want you to cum on my cock and show me how much you’re enjoying this like I am. Don’t even fucking lie to me-play with your clit. Show me.” He felt out of control, almost in a completely different body with the way you fit so perfectly around him.
All the breath had left you when he spoke. This was his game. This is what kept women coming back. And there was no way you would be able to resist.
He saw how much you liked his words, smirking and feeling accomplished. So this is what he needed to do to get you to be nice to him-fuck you into oblivion. “That’s it baby girl, you look so good like this, taking my cock. Does it feel good?” He watched you nod, throwing your head back again as your fingers slowed down. “Don’t stop, I want to feel you. Don’t wait for me honey-that’s so nice of you. This is for you. I want to see it.”
It didn’t take much longer for you to lose yourself, unable to control your moans as you began to release on him. The way you clenched around him was not what he expected, the flutter and the strong squeeze made him release too. He leaned forwarded groaning as he continued, burying his head into your chest.
He slowed down, hot breath tickling your abdomen and fingers still clutching his front seats. His arms were wrapped around you, palms of his hands searing into your back and sides as he leaned slightly back. He wanted to tell you to come back to his place, that you could take a shower together and maybe you could show him more of your tricks with your mouth. But something sunk in him when he looked up to your eyes and how you were slowly coming out of a horny stupor. “Just sit here for a second, its ok.”
You felt panic rushing to your brain as you lifted yourself off of him quickly, making him hiss and hold on to your hips tighter. “Peña. I-shit, I shouldn’t have-”
“Don’t regret this, I needed this as much as you.” He said softly, desperately. He wanted to convince you to do it again.
You looked at him and then looked out the windows of his Jeep. No one was around, and it was dark, the only light from the emergency lights surrounding the parking lot. “We can’t do this again, I really need this job-”
“No one will know, hermosa.” He was trying so hard to not be hurt by what you said, but he understood that you and he weren’t friends before this. That you had a job that you were proud of and didn’t want to risk any of it. “If you get back in the office and everyone gives you a hard time then we don’t have to do this again if you don’t want to but-” He faltered, chasing your eye line and finally grabbing your chin to force you to look at him.
You let go of his front seat and sat up straight, hand resting on his arm that was holding your face in place. “I want to.”
It was like cold water being poured over him when you admitted you would want to still fuck him. “I want you as much as I can have you.” Fuck he felt pathetic, completely at the mercy of you.
“One week and if no one thinks we…if I’m not completely humiliated then maybe we can-”
“You can take your stress out on me any day of the week.” It tumbled out of him, leaning forward to brush his lips against yours for a second. Any part of you he could have he would take.
You chuckled, sliding off his lap and opening his back door. You stood up, fixing your skirt and turning around to see his cock still out going soft, completely overwhelmed. “I’ll see you next week, Javier.”
He watched you get into your car and start the engine, still not willing to move until he watched you pull away from the parking lot. He fixed his pants, stepped out the same side of the vehicle as you had, and shut the door gently. You called him by his first name and that alone felt like an improvement. Javier didn’t know what had just happened, but he knew that he couldn’t wait for the end of next week when he got to pull you close again, knowing he wasn’t going to be able to resist.

Charter Ch. 6
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings: drama, angst, threats of violence, oral, protected sex, age gap, boss & employee
Chelsea is here and she brought friends from the rougher side of the Cut. Baseheads. Big, buff friends covered in tattoos that look like they’re here for a fight. JJ takes a deep, murderous breath and I find myself taking his hand.
“Stay here.” JJ doesn’t look at me as he moves to the door but I tug on his wrist.
“Call the police!” I plead, reaching up to capture his face between my hands. His blue eyes are ablaze, his chest heaving with every angry breath.
“The cops in this town don’t give a shit about a Maybank.” JJ bites back, trying to pull away from me but I shake my head.
“There’s four of them and one of you. Do not do this.” JJ pulls free of my hold and steps back, going to a shelf next to the tv and grabbing something off the top shelf. A gun.
“JJ, wait, let’s just—.”
“I’m done with these fucking clowns. Stay in here. I mean it.” JJ steps onto the enclosed porch with the gun in his hand as his ex and her friends yell profanities and threats. I’m frozen for a moment before I run back to his bedroom to find my phone.
I quickly dial the sheriffs department and on the sixth ring an annoyed sounding female dispatcher answered.
“I need the police to my location for a.. break in. I’m not sure the address but it’s out on the marsh, a fairly newer build.”
“Ma’am, is this not your residence?”
“No, it’s my.. friends.” There’s a pause and a lot of clicking of a keyboard.
“I have your location. Is Johnathon James Maybank the owner?” I pause, having never heard JJ’s real name before. No wonder he went by JJ if John B was practically his brother.
“Yes.”
“Okay ma’am, all our officers are currently busy on other calls but we’ll send someone out there as soon as we can.”
“Are you serious? They have guns! Someone could get shot!” I was only assuming but at this rate with all the craziness, I wouldn’t put it past these people who decided to trespass.
“Ma’am—.” I hang up and look up John B on social media before sending him an urgent message. I quickly throw my phone down and pull on a pair of his shorts before running back down the hallway to the front of the house. I stop to grab the wooden baseball bat next to the front door and step out onto the enclosed porch where JJ stands on the steps, gun in hand.
I try not to let my gaze linger too long on the marks I made all over his back and arms as I move next to him.
“I’m not going to tell you again—.”
“Look who it is! Your little employee putting in her overtime! Is she even legal, J?” Chelsea laughs, pushing her blonde hair off shoulder with a wicked grin. She looked worse than the last time I saw her.
“Looks like she wants some of this too.” One of her goons says, looking to the bat in my hand.
“The cops are on their way. Better leave while you still can.” I announce, swinging the bat up to rest on my shoulder. Their eyes widen in alarm and JJ’s head snaps towards mine.
“You know what happens to snitches?” Chelsea spats at me, her face scrunched up in a snarl.
“You know what happens to trespassers?” JJ counters, the click of the safety being released echoing between all of us.
“My child lives here. I have a right to be anywhere she is.”
“You have no rights so therefore you don’t. Crawl back into whatever hole you’ve been in and fuck off.”
“You gonna back that mouth up, Blondie? Your daddy still owes us money.” One of the guys calls, cracking his knuckles. His dad? But JJ only smirks.
“Come and get some. You wouldn’t be the first bitch I’ve put in their place.” The guys all stiffen, nostrils flaring as their hands ball into fists.
“J.” I whisper softly, wrapping my hand around his wrist. He was terrifying like this. Just then the bloop of a police siren startles us all and a cruiser turns into the yard since the driveway is blocked. Shoupe steps out, hand on his gun, as he faces the trespassers.
“There a problem here?” Shoupe asks, his voice and posture dripping with authority.
“No, officer. No problems here. Just having a friendly chat. We’ll be going now.” Chelsea shoots us both a deadly look before her and her goons pile back into the piece of shit truck they came in and back out of the driveway.
What were we going to do now that they know where he lives?
Shoupe turns back to us, his hand still on his gun as he looks from JJ to the piece in his hand.
“You got a permit for that, Maybank?” JJ’s body visibly relaxes after the taillights for Chelsea’s truck can no longer be seen and he smirks at Shoupe.
“For what?” JJ counters, clicking the safety on and tucking the gun into the waistband of his shorts.
“Wanna tell me what that was about?” Shoupe asks, finally taking his hand off his own gun and approaching. JJ shrugs.
“Hard telling.” I shoot a look at him. Why is he not saying anything?
“Uh huh. Word around town is your ex is causing trouble and asking about you and your daughter. Do you have a protective order in place?”
“A piece of paper doesn’t stop anything.”
“Maybe not but it’s a paper trail and if it gets violated, people end up in jail.” JJ stays silent for a moment, staring back at Shoupe.
“Just come down to the station and we can get the paperwork started.” Shoupe presses but JJ shows no sign of giving in.
“J.” I try to take his hand but he curls his fingers away, like a punch to the gut. I have to fight to keep my face neutral as Shoupe looks between us.
“I’ll think about it. See you later, Shoupe.” JJ dismisses Shoupe before turning and disappearing into the house. Shoupe gives me a look I can’t quiet pinpoint - like pity - and gets back into his cruiser. I watch him exit the driveway before heading back inside.
I hear the shower turn on but I know for some reason I’m not invited. I quickly redress into my own clothes and throw my hair up into a bun. Emotions choke me and my throat is tight. This was a lot to deal with. It’s no wonder he kept me at arms length. But why was he mad now? Because I called the cops? Did he really want to face them alone? I startle at a knock on the front door then I hear it open. I emerge into the hallway to see John B walking in, obviously comfortable enough to just walk in. His eyes lock on me and he gives me a nod of acknowledgment.
“Everything good here?” He asks, tucking his hands into his pockets.
“Yea. Shoupe came after all.” John B nods just as JJ enters the hallway in a towel. He looks from me to John B and shakes his head.
“It’s all good, Bree.” JJ sighs, going into the kitchen to get a beer.
“What did Shoupe do?” John B asks, taking a beer from JJ.
“Nothing but piss them off.” I scoff at JJ’s words. Why was he insisting on fighting this battle alone? His eyes narrow at me just as John B glances between us.
“He wants JJ to file a protective order against Chelsea so if she comes around Summer, she’ll be arrested. He’s also pissy that I called you and Shoupe.” I announce, crossing my arms and staring back at the heated blonde. I can feel John B look between us again.
“Yea, JJ don’t like cops or people helping him. He’s the only one allowed to be put at risk. Been that way since we were kids.” John B says, drawing JJ’s glare to him.
“I got shit to do. I’ll be there to get Summer in a bit.” John B chuckles at JJs dismissal.
“Whatever you want to do. Sarah says she can stay again if needed.” John B rounds the counter and they do some tacky handshake before John B makes his way to the door, only pausing to look back at me.
“Keep him out of trouble.” He says, before closing the door behind him. I nod, my heart racing a mile a minute as I turn to face JJ. His glaring at me, his wet hair dripping onto his shoulders and down his chest. Why was he so sexy when he was pissed off?
“You should probably head out. And watch your back now that there’s a target on it.” JJ says, tipping his beer up and draining the rest of it.
“I’ll just call the police again.” I shrug, crossing my arms as we glare back at each other.
“People on the Cut, especially Baseheads, don’t fuck around when it comes to snitches. It’s an unspoken rule not to talk to cops. That’s a Kook thing.” JJ snaps, drawing my attention to the Pogue tattoo across his knuckles.
“So, what? You were just going to take on all of them? Four vs one? End up in jail yourself? What happens to Summer if you go to jail?” I throw back and he growls, taking a dangerous step towards me. I crane my neck to look up at him, refusing to back down.
“If you wanted someone you can tell what to do and control, you picked the wrong girl.” I breathe, my body heating just being this close to him. JJ’s eyes trail over me, down the skimpy outfit I came in last night and back up to my face.
“I didn’t pick anyone.” His words have their desired effect and I try not to wince. “Now go. I’ll see you at work.” JJ nods to the door and for once I don’t have a single smart comment to make so I simply grab my things and leave.
Tumblr media
I refuse to cry or show my wounded heart so I do the only thing I can.. fake it. The rest of the week slides by with ease and I pretend that JJ means absolutely nothing. I don’t stay until close like normal so I’m not tempted to let him bend me over the nearest flat surface. And I know id give in.
I manage to keep myself busy by picking up another job for the evenings on weekends, flirting with boys closer to my age, then masturbating until I’m weak. The only problem being that I get myself off to the memory of him. The way he feels. The sounds he makes when he cums. The way he tastes. The feel of his callused hands and rings on my body. I can make myself cum three times in a row and it still doesn’t dampen the fire that he’s lit in me.
I manage our shifts together just fine as long as I don’t look at him. When work needs to be discussed, I busy myself and keep my head down while giving one worded answers. I can feel the tension between us growing. I’m sure he’s just as pent up as I am. I’m surprised he hasn’t thrown me over his shoulder yet and hauled me to the back. But he would think that’s him giving in and he’s not one to lose.
I’m scrolling through my phone on my break, hiding in the tiny room with enough room for a fridge, microwave, and a sink, when I stumble across a video I took of him going down on me. Heat erupts all over my body and my clit throbs like the horny bitch she is at the memory. I can’t stop myself from lowering the volume and watching as he works my pussy with that skilled tongue, his heated blue eyes staying on mine. My own moans have me squeezing my thighs together. He sucks my clit into his mouth, making my hips jerk in the video and as I’m standing here watching. When he pulls back to reveal his arousal covered mouth and pushes two fingers inside me, I turn the video off, my body on the verge of combusting. I drop my phone on the table and grip the edges to try and ground myself. I squeeze my thighs tight but the ache doesn’t subside. I’m literally on the verge of slipping my hand into my shorts when a throat clears behind me. I snatch up my phone as I turn to face him, my heart in my throat and my pussy pulsing. Just by the look in his eyes, I can tell he knows what I was doing. Or about to do. I love and hate that cocky smirk of his and the way he tugs on his bottom lip with his teeth.
“I have a video similar to that.” JJ props his shoulder up against the door frame as he pulls out his phone, swipes a few times then turns it to face me. I remember this video too. My back was pinned against the wall as he fucked my face while keeping his hands on his phone. My throat had been so sore but it was worth it. I tear my gaze away from the sight of his cock jackhammering into my mouth, and glare at him.
“I think I have another one too. Ahh, yep.” JJ plays another of me riding him in reverse cowgirl, his free hand grabbing and slapping my ass as I bounce on him.
“Oh, this one is my favorite.” JJ changes the videos to one I instantly recognize from the last time we were together. My heart hurts because somehow this one felt more personal. He’s fucking me from behind, his body flat on top of mine as the phone rests against the headboard, capturing both our faces and his cock disappearing inside me. It was probably the most intense sex we’d ever had.
“Look into the camera.” JJ whispers in my ear in the video. I whimpered as he cupped my throat and forced me to look up, my eyes hooded and my lips parted.
“Watch yourself fall apart for me.” He’d whispered into my ear as he delivered rough, deep strokes. My entire body shivers and I turn away, goosebumps coating my skin as my panties soak further with my arousal. The fucking bastard.
JJ’s hands are suddenly on me and I don’t even fight him. I’m too weak. I miss him so much. I take it when he bends me over the table with a growl and enters me in one hard, deep thrust. His hand fists the back of my shirt as he fucks me hard and fast. I cum quicker than I ever have before, tears in my eyes, as I fight to keep from moaning loudly. His hands slide between us to stroke my clit before I’ve even come back down and my body clenches even harder around his.
“One more. Come on. I know you need it.” JJ urges in my ear. He’s right and I hate him. I shatter into a million pieces before going limp on top of the table as he releases in the condom. I can’t breathe or move as he pulls out, discards the condom and pulls my shorts back up. JJ pulls me to look at him but I don’t want to. It hurts too much.
“Your break is over.” JJ whispers, looking at my lips for a moment before walking away from me. Again.

Growing pains
Tumblr media
Summary: How did Jeff and Rio feel knowing Miles was sneaking out with a girl?
Jeff's rant became background noise as she lifted the sweater in confusion.
It wasn't Miles, not just because it wasn't his size (she had needed to buy so many new clothes with his growth spur that she would know) but it was...feminine, she could even smell faintly some perfume.
Whoever left it was using it recently.
"-Babe are you backing me up in this one or what?"
Rio snapped back to reality as she felt her husband's hand on her shoulder, he looked at her still kind of upset yet more curious as to why she hasn't moved from that spot.
"Jeff, where is this from?" She asks immediately, not paying attention to whatever he has been insisting on her.
Arching an eyebrow, he didn't look too much into the item before shrugging with disinterest "I don't know, I normally let him choose whatever he wants as long as the price is okay; a better question is why his room is such a mess, maybe we should ground him an extra month for that-"
"Jeff" She called him again, trying to distract him from his authoritative-dad ideas "This isn't his, it has to belong to a girl."
The moment the word 'girl' came out of her mouth he seemed even more puzzled. Giving an actual look at the item from his wife's hands, he was trying to remember if he has seen it before "Does it belong to one of your nieces maybe?"
"I didn't remember seeing any of them using this, why it would be here anyways? We let the guest put their coats in the entrance, and I don't think either Ana or Camila would just leave this in Miles's bed for no reason."
As they both realized they couldn't recall anyone who could have this sweater, finally the other possible explanation popped into their minds. Not because it wasn't obvious, but more like-
"Is this happening now? It isn't too soon?"
"No, no no no, no way that boy brought a girl to our house, to his room, all while he is grounded." Just as quickly, Jeff was getting worked out again about this outrage.
Miles comes late (again,) with cakes that are falling apart, refuses to talk to them, and now he is hearing how he left his room to be with a girl?
Rio couldn't believe it either.
"This can't be right- He is too young to think of that!" She replied in disbelief.
She felt her husband's gaze rest on her as she stopped looking at the item (who could belong to? Maybe one of Miles's old friends from the neighborhood? As far she knew he stopped hanging out with everyone around here,) and saw the face Jeff always puts when he isn't sure how to tell her something.
"What?"
And her snappier response didn't seem to make him more confident about saying it.
"I mean- Look, don't get me wrong, we are both on the same side here" He prefaces, he needed to reserve all his energy to think how to get to that boy's skull that he couldn't do whatever he wanted, not to mention that when Rio got angry even he got scared. "But, he is fifteen honey."
"Yeah! A baby!"
"Well, not so baby, I mean at his age I was-"
The pointed look of Rio was all the information he needed to know he SHOULDN'T end that sentence.
"What I am trying to say, is that he is getting to a certain age mi amor, we cannot stop that."
Rio's shoulders fell, realizing how tense she was getting and this wasn't even going into how disobedient her son has been getting lately. As she looked towards the room (which was indeed a mess,) she saw the toys laying around, notebooks of old drawings pilled over the new ones that show his progress, she could almost see him as a toddler running around with a cape.
That felt like it was yesterday.
And now she had the sweater of a girl she doesn't know in her hands, in Miles' room.
Where did her little boy go?
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Since the Wip poll won, I decided to post this little thing that was actually, my first fic for this fandom.
I never got to publish it because it was missing two other scenes, but I decided to scrap it since the third one felt a bit too crazy, so I would do that idea for another thing.
So now while this is technically not a wip, I decided to publish it since I don't have any works in progress I can give sneak peaks for now.
Thanks for reading!

"Promise you won't leave. Even if I lose my mind and try to push you away, promise that you'll handle me. Don't let me ruin this, please."
In that moment, you had felt so relieved when your boyfriend had promised you then, hugging you afterwards. But you didn't seem too sure about it now.
"Oh, you're awake." Jay smiled at you brightly when you walked in the kitchen, wearing nothing but a t-shirt that belonged to him. Your boyfriend abandoned the preparing breakfast for a moment only to wrap his arms around your waist. "Did you sleep well?" He asked. You didn't reply, instead you buried your face in his chest tiredly. "I guess you did." He chuckled.
This was so right. You and him. Both made for each other, but definitely not in a good way. You were the problematic one in the relationship— always sulking and being mean, whereas he was the understanding one— always comforting you and putting up with your attitude. Poor Jay, your inner voice would say, always the one giving, never the one receiving.
Little did you know, he had no problem putting up with you. He loved you, probably more than he loved himself. It may have seemed like you were a handful to the outsiders— and in all honesty, you were— but the truth was that his life had been so boring without you. It was like he was living with no purpose at all, like he needed someone to give all of his time and devotion to. And you came into his life as that someone.
"Go and freshen up." He said as you pulled away from his warmth. "I'll get your breakfast ready by then." He placed a chaste kiss on your lips before turning you around in your spot and patting your butt. You walked away at that, rubbing your eyes as the sleep refused to leave you.
So that's how it was between the two of you. Him being the angel in disguise and you being a survivor of a traumatic household— such a perfect combination, right? Well, on one hand it was but on the other hand, it was downright depressing for Jay to see you break down at nights, flinch at small sounds, get frustrated when things don't go your way, and cry at the smallest things.
Jay had made sure to give you everything your family couldn't give you, what your father couldn't give you. Not receiving any affection at such a young age would drive anyone mad, but he was so proud that you held out through this, you were so brave. He got angry a lot of times too, especially when you sometimes tell him the things your father said to you. And when your boyfriend realizes that your dad had caused you to believe such things about you, he just wants to drive out to your hometown, find that bitch of a man and beat him up to no extent. But he calms himself down, focusing on comforting you rather than smashing your sperm donor's head.
When your relationship started, you were too submissive to him. No matter the occasion— during dinners, during sex, during dates— you always felt the need to have him control you. Jay didn't like it much if he was true to himself. Fine, maybe it was hot to have you underneath him during the sexual intercourses, but other than that, it was straight up bullshit. Because who was he to tell you what you do? Who was he to decide what you would wear outside and if it was decent enough or not? Who was he to tell you how to live your life?
"Can I go have lunch with my friends?" You had asked him on a normal day. "They invited me."
"Yeah, of course, you can. Why are you asking me?" Jay raised his brows, letting out a small chuckle.
"I can?" Your eyes widened. "Really?" It was that easy? You had never been allowed to go anywhere by yourself, so Jay allowing you to go surprised you.
"Yeah." He raised a brow in confusion, still not knowing what went through your head since it was only a new relationship, there were a lot of things you both had to figure out about each other. "It's not like I own you or anything. Go wherever you want."
"You- don't own me?" You looked up at him with confused doe eyes. "It's okay if you want to own me. I'm okay with it."
"I don't want to own you." Jay shook his head, now slowly starting to understand your behaviour. He tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and smiled at you. "You're your own person."
That was the first time Jay had gotten a hint about the issues you had. You had mentioned your father to him before, and you had told him how he was, so he figured that your own father was the reason you behaved the way you did. And it was that day he decided that he would try and help you with those issues.
"Are you cold?" Jay had asked that one day as you both walked through the lively streets of Korea and Korea's deadly winter. You only shook your head in a sweet lie, rubbing your arms from over your sweater to get some warmth. Jay huffed, taking his black and white varsity jacket off of him and draping it over your shoulders.
"I'm okay, really." You blushed, ready to take it off but a grunt in protest from him made you shut up. You quickly slipped your arms in the sleeves of your boyfriend's jacket, obeying like his good girl— a title you loved to earn from him every chance you got. Jay gave you a smile, ruffling your hair. You both started to walk again— your hand grabbing his index finger, he noticed.
After walking a few steps, you stopped in your tracks when you tripped suddenly, looking down to see your untied shoelaces. You tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear in embarassment. Jay noticed and chuckled slightly.
When you tried to bend down to tie them, a strong grab on your forearm was enough to stop you from doing so. You looked up at Jay again, only to see him smile. A small "I'll get that" left his mouth and he knelt down on one knee in front of you, ignoring your small protests because you thought it was disrespectful to him.
He quickly tied your shoelaces, looking up at you with a small smile. You didn't know how to react to this. No one had ever tied your shoelaces for you before, infact, you were the one who always volunteered to tie your friends' shoelaces when in public. You could only smile back nervously as you felt the guilt and anxious butterflies floating around in your stomach. He's so good to me, you thought, am I really enough for him?
Jay noticed your expression and knew what you were thinking almost instantly. He wanted to stop and hug you close to his chest for a long time, patting your head while he told you how proud of you he actually is, telling you that he will never be disappointed in you, telling you that you're enough. Because no matter how much he tried to, he couldn't figure out just how bad your father hurt you for you to turn out this way.
A new day in your relationship and a new problem with you. This was a normal thing now.
"Baby, why are you crying?" Jay was panicked. He didn't know why you were suddenly sobbing so hard. He had only now gotten home from work and saw you sitting in a corner, your face buried in your hands as you whimpered to yourself. The first thing he checked was if you were injured anywhere, sighing in relief when he made sure that you weren't in any kind of physical pain. But he still wasn't calm enough, knowing that the thing that was making you cry this much were your own thoughts.
"I'm- I'm so- sorry." You cried, speaking between hiccups. He cupped your face, dragging his thumbs on your cheeks to wipe away the tears.
"Sorry for what, sweetie?" Jay asked, his brows scrunching in deep concern.
"You're s- so good to me. B- but I never have anything to re- return your kindness." Jay was starting to feel his eyes getting teary as he listened to your hurtful words. So, that's what you thought about him? Did you really think he wanted you to apologize because you assumed that you weren't a good girlfriend? Whatever the fuck could he ever do make you believe otherwise? The thoughts were creeping down to his lips, waiting for him to say them.
"You're wrong." Jay sniffled quietly and you looked up at him with tear-filled eyes. You couldn't even properly see him due to the blur of the salty liquid, but you could see enough to know that he hated whatever you confessed. "How could you just assume that you never return anything? You return my love, you return my kindness. A relationship is fifty-fifty. We would've broken up by now if you weren't "returning" anything to me."
"Jay." You sobbed harder at his words, realising that he was right. But till how long will you keep that in your mind? You knew yourself enough to know that once the night is gone and the another day is here, you will blame yourself again. That's just how you were. So pathetic. So miserable. "Please don't ever leave me." You cried, fisting the material of his shirt in your hands, keeping him close to you.
"I won't." Jay was also close to crying, you could hear it in his voice. He pulled you closer to him, one of his hands on the back of your neck while the other rubbed your back soothingly, engulfing you in a warm hug. You buried your face in his chest, your voice coming out muffled when you spoke again.
"Promise you won't leave. Even if I lose my mind and try to push you away, promise that you'll handle me. Don't let me ruin this, please."
"I promise, baby." He whispered into your hair. "Now, please... stop crying."
"I love you."
"I love you too, sweetheart."
So now, in the present day, you hated yourself for still thinking the same thing you were thinking all those months ago. Still thinking that Jay deserved better than you.
You watched in silence, standing at the doorway as Jay placed down plates on the table for breakfast, mind getting hazy as he smiled to himself at some thought that crossed his mind— which 99.9% included you. Just as your mind drifted even more away from reality, his gaze snapping up to you quickly pulled you back to Earth.
"Let's break up." The words left you before you could even prepare yourself. Jay couldn't understand if you were being serious or not. He was shocked, he was confused. He couldn't decipher his own emotions. So he did what could be the most appropriate thing in that moment.
He laughed.
"If that's another prank, then it's really funny. Ha ha ha." He shook his head with a smile. But you never smiled back. His smile fell a bit at the serious silence but it was still on his face, a hopeful smile that maybe, maybe you weren't fucking with him. "Sweetie, you can drop the act now."
"I'm not joking, Jay." You spoke again, your voice low and your words faltering. You could feel yourself getting slightly choked due to holding back tears, the gulp in your throat getting painful each second. But you couldn't cry now, you couldn't let him believe that this break-up was hurting you.
His face completely fell now, his puppy eyes getting moist. "Babe, stop." He warned.
"Jay—"
"Shut up." He held out a palm, gesturing for you to stop talking. "Just shut up."
"I can't be with you anymore." You kept your voice strong. You couldn't fall weak now, it was now or never. You knew this was hurting him, but it was for his own good. He had to understand that. "I can't do thi—"
"We're not breaking up!" Jay shouted out of the blue, he was getting extremely frustrated now. But the frustration quickly washed away when he saw you flinch at his loud tone. He tried to calm himself down, pinching the bridge of his nose and pushing back tears. He sighed, walking towards you and placing his hands on your shoulders.
The mere touch of him was enough for you to let your guard down and let the tears escape down your face. He was extremely pained to see the tears falling from your brown eyes. He only ever wanted to see your eyes filled with joy and happiness, not with sadness and tears.
"Look, baby. Whatever that's going on in your head, don't listen to it, yeah?" He said gently as he cupped your face, making you look up at him. "We'll fix whatever problem it is. I'll fix it, I promise."
"You can't fix it this time." You said, nose flaring with every sob.
"I can, sweetie." He let out a breathy chuckle. "I can fix it. And I will fix it. Just tell me what's the problem. Am I not good enough? Did I do something? I'll work on myself. I'll work on myself and be a better man. I'll do anything you want just— just please don't leave me."
You pushed him away as harshly as you could, wiping the tears off of your face while he stared at you with sadness written all over his features. "That's your problem. You just can't take a hint. I'm suffocating, Jay!" You yelled. "It's so fucking suffocating in here with you. I can't breathe! Just leave me the fuck alone!"
"Baby, please." He only whispered, his chin wobbling and he doesn't even try to hide his emotions, tears falling down his face. "What is it? Is there another guy? Do you love someone else?"
You shook your head no.
"Then why?"
You didn't have an answer to that question. Well, you did have an answer, but you didn't want him to hear it. You didn't want him thinking of you as a pathetic bitch. The reason was simple, you had had enough. Enough of people talking about us behind our backs. Enough of them saying that you didn't deserve a man like Jay. Enough of them saying that you were a crazy bitch. Enough of them saying that he was just a babysitter for you. Enough. Enough. Enough.
"I told you." You sighed. "It's because you suffocate me. I hate it in here with you."
"You don't mean it."
"I do."
"You don't—"
"I do fucking mean it!"
He didn't say anything after that, only waiting a few silent seconds before basically launching at you and pulling you in a bone-crushing hug.
"Let me go!" You squeaked, sobbing continuously and thrashing around in his grip, but unfortunately, he was a lot stronger than you. He kept you in his hold, not letting you push him away. "I said let me fucking go!"
"No." was the only thing he said.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" You yelled, smacking his chest and squirming around in his arms while his warm body kept you hostage.
"Keeping my promise." These words that were whispered into your hair made you calm down a bit. You were shocked, letting out a whimper as you stood still and let him crush you in the hug. "I'm keeping the promise I made to you."
He waited for you to give a signal, to do or say something that could mean he could continue to persuade you. And he got the green light when he felt you fisting his t-shirt in your grip— a gesture he found familiar from whenever you craved comfort.
"I promised that I won't leave. I promised that I won't let you leave." He rested his chin on the top of your head, feeling his top get wet as you let the tears fall onto them. "I meant it when I said that I'll fix it. I'll fix anything when it comes to you. So please, baby, just let me take care of you."
"Aren't you tired of it?" You finally spoke, your voice small. "Aren't you tired of taking care of me all the time?"
"I'll never be tired of taking care of you." He pulled away, tucking your hair behind your ears and cupping the back of your neck to make you look at him. As you stared into his eyes, searching for any kind of sign that he was lying, you were surprised to find none. He was telling you the truth. "I want to be with you— fucking hell, I want to grow old with you. I don't want to break up, and I know you don't too. I won't let those voices in your head ruin this for us."
"I trouble you so much. I'm sorry." You mewled, making him let out a small breathy chuckle.
"No, you don't trouble me, baby." He smiled, leaning his forehead against yours. "I like handling you. You're my girl, yeah?" A swarm of butterflies waved through your stomach at his words. His girl. You were his girl.
"Jay..." You whispered, making him hum in response. "Am I- am I still your good girl?"
He pulled away a bit at your question so he could look at your face. And as soon as he did, he smiled to see such an innocent expression on your face, bambi eyes looking up at him with a fear of losing the title of his good girl.
"Yes, baby, you're still my good girl." He chuckled, leaning in to join his lips with yours only for a moment before he pulled away again. "You'll always be my good little girl."
"I love you."
"I love you more." Jay smiled, crashing his lips down on yours, passionately and properly this time. He almost sighed against your lips, thinking how there would've been a chance that he'd have never gotten to kiss you again. But all that was sorted out now, because you were his again.
His good little girl.

Heyy! Could you do something where Enid was being ignored by someone and she starts crying, but Wednesday comforts her? Thanksss!
find on ao3
When Enid lands in San Francisco for winter break, she has to give herself a pep talk in the bathroom mirror. Her hair is still dyed, her nails are chipped, her face is—well. She ruffles her hair, trying to make it fall in a way that would make the scratches less obvious.
Point is there are a hundred and one points Mom will probably immediately grab to nag her with.
So, all she has to do is make sure she doesn’t get a chance.
“Okay,” she says, staring herself down. “Okay, you can do this, it’s easy, it’s easy. All you have to do is—”
The door opens, a woman walks in and Enid immediately starts looking into her purse, waiting for her to leave. Enid takes her phone out, a message from her dad that reads, Here at the arrival gate!
The woman leaves, giving her a look. Enid smiles at her awkwardly. God, what a bitch.
She turns back to the mirror, her eyes immediately falling to the scratches and fuck, if she can’t look herself in the eye—
“All you have to do is tell her.” She makes a face and winces at the pain that lances up her cheek. “Yeah, just tell her. Fuck.”
She hugs Dad tight when she gets to the gate, who moves a hand through her hair fondly. He doesn’t comment on her wounds, though his eyes do burn silver for a moment. She doesn’t know if she’s relieved or angry at him for not asking.
(He’s never asked, never spoken up. Enid pretends every time it doesn’t hurt.)
Turns out, there is something worse than not wolfing out: wolfing out wrong.
At the end of it all, Mom spits out, “If you want to live you’ll be gone by morning.” Her eyes are golden and her claws are out. Her brothers are watching her with horror, Adam standing protectively in front of the twins. It hurts in a way Enid doesn’t think she’ll ever recover from. “No child of mine is a lycanthrope!”
Just before she flees, she sees her Dad’s fearful face. She thinks it’s one that’ll never leave her.
----
Legend has it that the very first infected were Blood-Wolves. Bitten by Lycanthropes, a type of shapeshifting hound demon, blood-wolves were a by-product of wolf blood mixing with demon venom. They are said to have been used in the war against Cattails by the Lycanthropes. After the war, when a truce had been reached, they were cast onto the Material Plane as part of the concession made by the hound demons.
They intermingled with humans, who welcomed them into their midst, unaware and unheeding of the danger they presented. They never shifted during a full moon. Most of their children, however, did. Those who didn’t—
Well. Their first transformation at blood moon was an eye-opener. They tore apart houses with their bare hands, sank their fangs into babies and feasted on the flesh of their own species. At the end of their spree of destruction, they were decried as made of witch blood and dead moon, to be hunted to their own extinction. The last known blood-wolf descendant died in 1709, killed by Manon Rose, who later went on to create the ritual that would prevent blood-wolves from ever evolving again. Not much more is known about them other than their origins and their actions.
Nevermore’s library feels a little too silent, all of a sudden. Enid closes the book. Yoko looks up from hers. “You found it?”
“Yeah.”
“Not good, huh?”
“Nope,” Enid says, and bursts into tears. Fuck, fuck, she needs to stop doing this. She presses her palms to her eyes. Fuck. She’s not—she’s not a blood-wolf. Distantly, she feels Yoko hug her. None of it makes any sense. She’s not suddenly having the urge to eat babies or whatever. In fact, if anything, she’s even more controlled of her senses now. She remembers her transformation vividly, remembers Wednesday vividly, remembers fighting the Hyde and worrying and worrying and worrying if she was okay, if she was safe, if she was alive. All that mattered then was to eliminate at least one threat to Wednesday, the biggest threat to all of them and not once did she feel like, oh, where are the babies?
Fuck.
She sniffs once, twice, and waves Yoko off, “It’s okay, I’m okay.”
Yoko raises her eyebrows and drawls, “And I’m a normie. Listen, let’s search for answers tomorrow, okay? You’ve been here two nights in a row.”
Enid starts to refuse but Yoko continues, “Do you really want Wednesday to search for you again?”
Enid rolls her eyes and gets up, as if the memory of it doesn’t send a shot of warmth through her. She always likes it when Wednesday shows that she cares. A little too much at times, bordering on not-platonic, but Enid’s not ready to look at what that means, yet.
When she enters her dorm, she’s greeted with the sight of Wednesday on her typewriter. She stops when Enid enters and turns to her to say, “Good, you’re here. I was just about to send Thing after you.”
“Let him rest, I just did his nails today.”
Wednesday rolls her eyes. “You shouldn’t encourage his vanity.”
“And you shouldn’t threaten him so much. It gives him wrinkles.”
Thing taps on the table. All my wrinkles are because of her. Wednesday rolls her eyes again but lets it go. “Did you find anything?” she asks instead.
Enid sucks in a breath and walks towards her, irrationally aware of when she crosses their duct tape line once was. She extends the book out to her, and Wednesday takes and cracks it open. Enid plops down on her bed with a sigh, her hair fanning out behind her. Wednesday’s sheets are so soft. Maybe she should ask for it as a Christmas present.
She blinks tears out of her eyes.
“Well, this just turned interesting.”
“What?” Enid says, sitting up. Wednesday hasn’t looked up from the book. Thing sits on her shoulder.
“If I remember correctly, she married Maximus Addams. It is said that most Addamses thought that she’d end up killing Maximus.”
“Did she?”
“Oh yes, but Maximus took her with him. They loved each other a lot.”
“If you love someone, why would you kill them?”
“You’ll find, Enid, that most Addams’ love follows a similar vein.”
Like you and Tyler, Enid thinks suddenly, and sits up. “I’m going to shower.”
Wednesday waves her off, engrossed in the book.
----
She hadn’t expected the behavior to continue—to spread like it has around the pseudo packs in Nevermore Stupid of her, really. She’s a gossip queen, she of all people should know how rumors were easy to spread and easier to believe.  They’ve taken to ignoring her, going out of their way to show her that they’re ignoring her. People she was good friends with, people she helped, now look at her with disdain or step away from her as if she’s a plague. Some outright bully her. In the following week she finds herself crying so much that she’s perpetually dehydrated, and hating herself so damn much for being such an easy crier.
It’s the middle of the week when the incident happens. Morgan Todd, a fucking jerk, turns up in the quad with boils all over his face and hacking up blood at an alarming rate. He’d sneered in Enid’s face on Monday, gone so far as to pull wolfsbane on her. It was a weaker strain, admittedly, but it served to make them all realise that Enid was really fucking sensitive to it. She’d had to spend the night in the Med Bay, and Enid now knows who’s responsible for this. She’d known as soon as it happened and she’s so fucking angry—
She confronts Wednesday at night.
“Why did you do that?” she asks immediately.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Yes you do!” Her throat feels tight again. She runs a hand through her hair, pulls. A tear or two slip out. “I can’t—Wednesday, I really really can’t do this. I told you not to retaliate.”
“Enid,” Wednesday says, weirdly careful. She steps towards her, hands extended. “Enid, it’s alright.”
“It’s not! Don’t you understand what you’ve just done?! You’ve given them a reason now! They’ll think I did it, they’ll think that—”
“Enid, no one will think anything because Morgan knows exactly who did that to him.”
She stops short. “What?”
Wednesday takes her hands and holds them tight. Her hands are deathly cold. “I couldn’t not do it. He had to learn—they all had to.”
“Learn what?” Enid asks, dazed.
Wednesday blinks and the action throws Enid off-kilter. She suddenly looks hesitant, almost, but her grip on Enid’s hands is sure. “That they can’t get away with it. Not unharmed.”
There’s a sudden clarity that’s rising in Enid, a sudden surety that that was not what Wednesday had wanted to say.
“Because you’ll come for them.”
“Because I’d raise hell for you.”
Enid swallows. She feels like they’re on the brink of something. Falling, maybe. “Why?” she asks, hushed.
“I told you, didn’t I? The mark you’ve left on me is indelible, Enid Sinclair.”
Enid steps closer. Wednesday’s eyes don’t have pupils. She’s never been close enough to notice, before. “Why?” she asks again.
Wednesday closes her eyes. “Because I didn’t know I was cold until you warmed me.”
Enid kisses her.
It’s a short kiss, a simple press of their lips. Their hands are still linked. When they separate, Wednesday chases her back and kisses her again, barely letting her suck in a breath. It’s still simple; achingly sweet and tender in a way she’s never thought to associate with Wednesday. She likes it.
She likes it a lot.
She wants to do this forever.
“Come to the Manor with me,” Wednesday says. Enid doesn’t know how long they’ve been kissing. “Let me help you figure it out.”
“Okay,” Enid says. “Yes.”
Wednesday kisses her again, like she can’t help herself. “Good.”
